A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. MAC & PC
Through the process of production, research and planning I have used a Mac, this is to
make my film on and edit my photos, this was during lesson times. I have also used an
advent laptop to construct my magazine cover and dvd cover on.
3. INTERNET
Throughout planning and research the internet played an important part. I used two
different browsers, safari and firefox, this is due to the two different computers I was
using. I used this to google to search for magazines and dvd covers to analyse.
4. BLOGGER
Blogger is used to host my research, planning and my construction. I used this to write about
my research and planning, adding photos and film for my construction.
Presenting it on this platform makes it easy to access and read. It is also using new
technologies. The above screenshot shows a snap shot of my blog and how I’ve organised it.
Adding labels to my posts to see which elements they come under.
5. SOCIAL NETWORKING
I have used social networking to ask for feedback into my drafts of ancillary tasks and
main product, this allowed me to target my target audience quickly as on facebook and
twitter I have mostly people of the age my product is aimed at.
6. YOUTUBE
I have used Youtube to find existing children’s tv drama title sequences and also
to host my own product which is demonstrated above.
7. WWW.JAMENDO.COM
I used Jamendo as it was a royalty free music website which would allow me to use music
without being any copyright issues, I searched for indie pop as this is a genre suited to a
younger audience. I came across this artist Tymphony and used a song called I’m way too
happy which even the title of this song suggests that it would be an upbeat song suitable for
a children’s title sequence.
