2. What tasks have i
chosen
I had the choice of three tasks, I chose the
following:
Digipak
Magazine advert
3. What is a Digipak?
A digipak is a patented style of CD case. It
consists of a gatefold outer binding, with at
least one tray that can comfortably hold a
CD. The front of a Digipak is the album front
cover. The back consists of the tracks listing.
The inside then holds the CD.
These are usually 4-6 panels.
4. Ideas..
I will be working with my artist to develop 3
design ideas that I will create and we will
then use the most appealing idea.
I would like to develop 1 idea using a close up
of the artists face.
1 idea using a long shot/establishing shot of
the artist.
And finally 1 artistic cover either using
drawings or edited images.
5. Idea 1
I researched the codes and conventions of my genres
digipaks and then did further research into the genre’s female
artists.
From this I came up with the idea of using a close up of the
artists face as the front cover.

My second option is to using a long or
establishing shot. In these shots I will use the
background and props to create a specific
feeling.

My final idea is to create and artistic album
cover using either drawings or edited images.
I feel this could be rather appealing and
attractive to my artists target audience.

8. What is a magazine
advert?
A magazine advert is a tool used by artists to
advertise themselves, new products or tours.
It allows them to ‘communicate’ with their
audience. It also is used to persuade the
audience into purchasing the product.
With this task I will be wanting to design 2
ideas and then make a decision between these
two.
The first idea will be using the album cover as
the advert and just altering the text.
The second is to create an artistic advert.
9. Idea 1
My first design idea is to stick to the codes
and conventions of the genre and use the
album cover as the advert.
Similar to: The Laura Marling advert is a mix between the 2 ideas as
it is artistic but uses the album cover.
10. Idea 2
The second idea is to create an artistic cover
that will be appealing, memorable and eye
catching.

11. Typography
The typography will be vital to both tasks as
it will need to inform the viewer of all the
vital info. Therefore it will need to be eye
catching and easy to read.
