What is a media Institution?
• A media institution means the people who have the role in the
production of media texts. The people who produce the media texts
also have other responsibilities and covers a wide range of different
things, such as:
• Companies/ Organisations
• Producers
• Distributors
• Marketing
• These basically all mean the roles which people have had when
creating a film/media product.
What kind of media institution might distribute
your media product and why?
• I believe that our media product would be distributed by a Major
company. However because it has a genre of being a Horror, there
might be some companies which may suit the distribution of this
product better than others. I believe that using a Major and more
popular company to distribute our media product it will likely to do
better, it will be advertise widely and more people are likely to watch
it and then buy it.
What kind of media institution might distribute
your media product and why?
• Even though a lot of horror films are distributed by loads of little
companies, a major company is likely to do better. So many horror
films are produced so a lot of distribution companies are needed. I
think that Our opening sequence is of a high standard and with this
being said I think that the more well known, better companies are
more likely to distribute it because it is of a high standard. It is said
that the smaller companies distribute the less professional films
which might not be of a very high standard.
What kind of media institution might distribute
your media product and why?
• It is not always the popular film distributers who distribute very good
and well known horror films. Companies which may have be little and
not well known may then be very popular just through releasing one
really good film. Sometimes it may be the budgets which companies
have which effect the distribution of a product.
Lion Gate Films
Lions gate has been responsible for some amazing horror films
including:
• The Cabin in the Woods
• The possession
• All saws
• Texas Chainsaw
• And many more
What kind of media institution might distribute
your media product and why?
• Even though a well known company like Lions Gate films might
distribute our Film if it was finished, being more realistic me and Beth
have come to the conclusion that Film 4 would be a brilliant
institution.
• Film 4 does not only distribute Low Budget films but it also distributes
Blockbusters. Our opening sequence is not 100% and it is not to a
professional standard and that is why Film 4 is a more realistic
Distributor. It is also specific for the United Kingdom and considering
we live here it would be perfect in a real life situation.
Film 4
Film 4 has been responsible for the production of films such as:
• 12 years a slave
• One Day
• Starred Up
• The Inbertweeners Movies
• Some films distributed by Film 4 have done amazing and have achieved
many awards.

  • 2. What is a media Institution? • A media institution means the people who have the role in the production of media texts. The people who produce the media texts also have other responsibilities and covers a wide range of different things, such as: • Companies/ Organisations • Producers • Distributors • Marketing • These basically all mean the roles which people have had when creating a film/media product.
  • 3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? • I believe that our media product would be distributed by a Major company. However because it has a genre of being a Horror, there might be some companies which may suit the distribution of this product better than others. I believe that using a Major and more popular company to distribute our media product it will likely to do better, it will be advertise widely and more people are likely to watch it and then buy it.
  • 4. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? • Even though a lot of horror films are distributed by loads of little companies, a major company is likely to do better. So many horror films are produced so a lot of distribution companies are needed. I think that Our opening sequence is of a high standard and with this being said I think that the more well known, better companies are more likely to distribute it because it is of a high standard. It is said that the smaller companies distribute the less professional films which might not be of a very high standard.
  • 5. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? • It is not always the popular film distributers who distribute very good and well known horror films. Companies which may have be little and not well known may then be very popular just through releasing one really good film. Sometimes it may be the budgets which companies have which effect the distribution of a product.
  • 6. Lion Gate Films Lions gate has been responsible for some amazing horror films including: • The Cabin in the Woods • The possession • All saws • Texas Chainsaw • And many more
  • 7. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? • Even though a well known company like Lions Gate films might distribute our Film if it was finished, being more realistic me and Beth have come to the conclusion that Film 4 would be a brilliant institution. • Film 4 does not only distribute Low Budget films but it also distributes Blockbusters. Our opening sequence is not 100% and it is not to a professional standard and that is why Film 4 is a more realistic Distributor. It is also specific for the United Kingdom and considering we live here it would be perfect in a real life situation.
  • 8. Film 4 Film 4 has been responsible for the production of films such as: • 12 years a slave • One Day • Starred Up • The Inbertweeners Movies • Some films distributed by Film 4 have done amazing and have achieved many awards.
