What kind of media institution might distribute your
media product and why?


The Hollywood institution i chose is Warner
Bros. WB is especially known for producing
action, suspense/thriller, sci-fi and drama
movies. Some of their best movies include The
Dark Knight Rises, Harry Potter, Inception and
Gravity.
The Warner Bros. reference films I chose for my film were
Gravity, Inception and Prisoners.
 Gravity: I adapted the shots from the film which where
mostly close-up and extreme close-up, to show the
characters expressions. The main character and sole
survivor was a woman, which you normally don’t see in films,
normally men are more focused upon and portrayed as the
stronger/tougher sex. In this movie though, everything
revolved around Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) and how
she survived. The main character of my film is a teenage girl,
Sophia.



Inception: The movie makes use of modern
technology and portrays to the audience that with its
advancements, not only does it benefit people but that
people can benefit from it and that is a problem I've
shown in my film, how a stranger takes advantage of
such technologies and because of that, Sophia gets
kidnapped. The movie started with a scene from the
climax which is exactly what I've done to create a
sense of curiousness in the audience.


Prisoners: The movie had a very tense and
serious mood, there was no background music
in majority of the scenes which is what I've
adapted in order to portray seriousness and
intensity. The movie took place in a suburban
area and my main character lives in a
suburban area and the park she goes to is also
of that neighborhood.


Achievements
Just last year, Warner Bros. marked its 9th decade of
film-making and it boasts ten Best Picture Oscar
winners, from "The Life of Emile Zola" (1937) to "Argo"
(2012).
In 2009, Warner Bros became the first studio to gross
more than $2 billion in North America in a calendar
year.
Warner's biggest grossing hit ever: 2011's "Harry Potter
and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2," with a worldwide
gross of $1.3 billion. Its biggest domestic hit: 2008's
"The Dark Knight," which earned $533 million in North
America. Both these movies come under the action and
suspense/thriller genre.


My film is a suspense/thriller film. What’s
unique about most WB suspense films is that
the story is mostly based on real life issues, for
example Argo and Blood Diamond were based
on real-life events and the concepts of
Inception and Gravity are also linked to reality.
My film shows April fools day and also how
social networking can be useful as well as
dangerous. My concept is original, fiction and
relatable to the target audience (teenagers) and
I guess that’s why WB would distribute my
product.
