Ex President guard Mike Banning gets trapped in the White
House during the event of a terrorist attack. He uses his inside
knowledge to work with the national security to rescue the
president from his kidnappers.
The target audience for Olympus has Fallen would be anyone
over 15 years who like action packed movies. The genre of
Olympus has Fallen would definitely be action. Olympus has
Fallen was produced in 2013. Antoine Fuqua directed Olympus
has Fallen. The main actor in Olympus has Fallen Gerard Butler
is also the main producer of the film along side Alan Siegel and
Mark Gill. Olympus has Fallen was distributed by FilmDistrict.
Olympus has Fallen has been a very successful film as it has
already taken $154,888,506 just from box office takings. Their
budget was $70,000,000 therefore they have made $84,000,000
roughly. Olympus has Fallen was released 17th April 2013 in the
UK.
The marketing team for Olympus has Fallen used adverts
on television to help advertise and get the word out
about the film which would soon be released. The
Olympus has Fallen trailer was uploaded to YouTube. This
is then watched and shared by people putting it on social
networking sites such as Facebook which helped spread
the word that it was coming out soon. Other action films
being watched at the cinema will have played the trailer
before the film being watched as they often broadcast
the same genre. Billboards and posters hold up adverts
on bus stops and on larger billboards advertising the film.
Film magazines related the action genre will have
posters, pictures and informational text for people to
read about the film. They will also have interviews and
reviews in to help people form and opinion on the film.
The producer in my opinion has targeted an audience
that like the action genre. I think this because the film
has near enough none stop action all the way through
the film from start to finish. He addressed his
audience by making the film action packed and
exciting. The text on the Olympus has Fallen poster is
very bold, his catches the audiences eye straight
away. They use the main actor Gerard Butler to draw
the audience in as he is a well known actor. They use
the colours white and red to symbolise danger and
this gets the audience thinking instantly.
Test Screening
Producers of films pay researchers to carry out
research on the particular target audience and find
out what pleases them. Once he film has been made
a draft will be rendered and around 40 – 50 people of
the correct target audience will be invited to watch it
in a small cinema. The small audience will then fill out
questionnaires and give their feedback about what
they liked about the film and what they didn’t like
about the film. This will then be repeated with a
bigger audience with all the negative things re-edited.
This is called Test Screening.
