1. Researching Genre.
For my Horror Genre research watched the following trailers:
The conjuring.
Woman in black
Nightmare on elm street
The thing that they all had in common were the dark lighting, eerie silence, the
jump scared and the same style of unsettling music. There is also the mane cliché
effect of unexplainable noises. These are all common in the Horror Genre. The shots
change at a fast rate so that the audience cannot see and understand what is
happening in the shot, this adds to the mystery of the film. Near the end of the
trailer the shot duration gets shorter and the cutting gets faster until you see the
title card. The woman in black black and the conjuring both have music boxes that
play a creepy theme or song, this is because the ghosts of children are common in
horror films and nightmare on elm street has a child singing the theme song.
Children that are associated with innocent play a much more sinister role in modern
horrors.

2. Fantasy Genre
For this Genre I watched the following trailers:
47 Ronin
The legend of Hercules
300, Rise of an empire.
The thing that they all had in common is that they are all set in the past,
weather the films contain any historical accuracy is beyond the point.
They all have very dramatic music compositions, they all have dramatic and
inspiring one sentenced speeches, and they all involve an army and revenge.
They are all set in foreign countries and all have a hero with a
tragic backstory. They all contain fight scenes and end with what
apears to be an epic battle between the main protagonist and
the one of the main antagonists.

3. Action Genre
For this genre I chose the following film trailers:
Mission impossible: Rogue nation.
The hunger games: mocking jay part 2
Avengers age of ultron
They all include some element of fire, guns, violence and are all
unclear on the specifics of the film itself. These are all films that
are apart of a trilogy or a series of film which is also very
common for action films in these days, they split them up to
create more films so they can stretch out the franchise.

4. My Genre
I have decided to do the opening sequence to a Horror movie trailer, because
they are simple to do, do not need a advanced plot at the beginning and are
always popular. Although the use of clichés is... well…cliché they allow the
audience to automatically understand the movie genre and give the audience
a sense of familiarity when watching the film. It is scientifically proven that
audience's love to be scared. When we watch horror films you get scared and
you get a adrenaline rush which some people like. Horror films are perhaps
the most popular genre they are certainly, in the top genres and therefor
make the most money so they are often produced . They are also popular
because they have low risk and a possible high reward, While horror as a
category may be the seventh highest grossing genre in the movie business,
the films of the horror genre are sometimes the most profitable. Horror films
made over $413 million in the United States in 2012, while comedy films
ranked as the biggest grossers with $1.64 billion the same year. But horror
films often cost a fraction of what competing movies in the comedy genre
cost, which makes the genre ideal for small risks with huge rewards. For
example, "Paranormal Activity 4" cost $5 million and made $54 million
domestically as well as another $86 million overseas. That's a $135 million
profit, not including marketing expenses, on a single film.
