The document summarizes key scenes and theories from three Filipino films - Shift, Blue Bustamante, and Kabisera. In Shift, social penetration and attribution theories are seen as relationships develop between coworkers. Blue Bustamante shows attribution theory when a character explains his choices, and reinforcement theory as someone pursues a relationship. Kabisera demonstrates interpersonal deception, reinforcement, and elaboration likelihood model theories regarding drug use and its consequences. A second film discussed applies reinforcement theory to how conquerors influenced Filipinos' identity and perspectives.

1. CINEMA ONE ORIGINALS 2013 FINAL PAPER

Cinema One Originals 2013 have shown us that Filipino can definitely make a great and impressive movies. Among the six movies that we've watched these are the movies that I admire the most Shift, Blue Bustamante, and Kabisera. And here are some scenes in the said movies that theories can be seen. 1. The first movie is "SHIFT", at first they were just co-workers and then suddenly the team leader decided to group them into two. Trevor and Estella becomes teammate with that, the relationship between the two of them strengthen. They share information about each other’s lives. And then they become close buddies. The theory that could be apply in this scene is Social Penetration Theory. Next scene is when Estella is avoiding Trevor by not replying in his text messages. With this action of Estella, Trevor thought he did something wrong or Estella is having a personal problem. The theory that is applicable in this scene is Attribution Theory. Last scene is when Kevin Estella's friend confessed that he likes Estella, but Estella refuses because he likes someone too. She also confessed that it will be possible if Kevin did it before because she likes Kevin, but by that time Kevin has a girlfriend. And so Estella said that they could be just friend. Reinforcement theory is applicable in this scene. The next movie is "BLUE BUSTAMANTE", Attribution theory is seen when Jun keeps on saying that he is an artist, that he is good at this and he was just forced to be an engineer by his grandparents. Next scene is when George gives his handkerchief to a girl named Yumi. Because of that Yumi got the guts to follow George wherever he go and by that she knows more information about George. And they've given the chance to talk Yumi knew that George was already married. She thought that George loves her that they will get married and they will live happily ever after. But when she knew that it can't happen because George is married already she decided to stop her feeling towards George. Last scene is when George chose the happiness of his son, he uses his peripheral route to decide not to kill the character of blue. Though he knew
2. that the producer might get mad onto him because of this action, and he knew that they spent a lot of money and time on this show. But the director didn't get mad at him and decided to give him another show and new character.
The last movie is "KABISERA", Interpersonal Deception theory is seen when Jose says that AJ is also using an illegal drugs. This puts the anger to Andres and he decided to take away the job to Jose. And that triggers Jose to tell the truth to the authority which is the PDEA. The next scene is when Andres persuade his wife that the drugs he found on the sea is the key to make their dreams come true, that they'll be rich. Despite the fact that it is illegal his wife still agrees. Reinforcement theory is seen in this scene. The last scene is when the three of them namely, Andres, Jose and Pablo is deciding on how they would be able to sell the drugs. They used their central route before they did an action. And when they are already selling the drugs they used peripheral route they don't mind the consequences of their actions. In this scene Elaboration Likelihood Model is seen.
2.
In the movie of “GANITO KAMI NOON, PAANO KAYO NGAYON?” shows how do Americans and Spaniards changes the perspectives of Filipino on their own identity. At first I thought the movie is all about how nice, hospitable and helpful Filipinos are, but that is just at beginning of the movie as the movie goes by, and Spaniards came in action, everything has changed. It shows that we Filipino don’t even consider ourselves as Filipino because of what they have said. As I remember there was this scene where in Kulas ask his Attorney on who are the real Filipino? And he said that the real Filipino are them, the people who weren’t born and raised in this country. But Kulas seems not to believe in what he said. Kulas the main character of this movie shows that even you do had everything you need in life, the money, power or even the one you love is not enough if you don’t know who you really are. And in this movie also shows that social status do really affect your own Identity. If you are poor you’re not consider as Filipino but an Indio. And end of the movie where in Kulas already know what is he’s searching for and he saw a group of kids on the street while walking the kid ask him who are Filipino? And he said that we are the real Filipino. Being Filipino is not about the wealth, power that you had nor being born in this country. You are Filipino if you loved this country with all your heart and
3. you are not ashamed on your own identity. I think the theory that is applicable in this movie is Reinforcement Theory, because n this movie it shows how do conquerors easily influence and change the perspectives of Filipinos with the use of their promises and power. And we are reinforce to believe in whatever they say to us, as we will notice nowadays it is still do exist in our country we are still the same, nothing has changed. Our culture, traditions and beliefs has changed by them.
