2. How are social groups represented in my
magazine?
There were many different social groups I could have chosen to represent in my
magazine but through colour, costume and layout etc I have chosen to represent
individuals that are interested in the rock genre. By doing a range of research tasks
htorugout the production of my magazine I have found many conventions that have
allowed me to convey the rock social group.
3. Which social group is my magaizne aimed at?
Females ages 16-21 are the main target audience for my magazine. By using a
range of conventions such as mise-en-scene, colour use and costume and props
there are many ways I have been able to convey the rock social group to my target
audiecne. I have found that by making costuming choices such as using dark
colours and grunge elements it is likely that the magazine will appeal to my target
audience.
4. Colour Pallette
Throughout researching genre and textual analysis I have found that there is a clear
colour pallette of rock magazines and this is red, black and yellow. By using these
colours on my own magazine it is clear that my target audience would be able to
recognise that the genre i’m trying to convey is rock. The colours are continued
throughout the front cover, double page spread and contents page and this is so it
is so an in house style is created and the magazine is easily recognisable against
others of the same genre.
5. Costume and Props
It is clear when looking at other rock magazines that costumes used are often dark
and grunge. This is why I chose to use over sized clothing and edgy items to make
the model to appropriately represent the social group. The rock genre is associated
with edgy and dark clothing as it gives the impression of not caring about the way
people perceive you and fashion is often a way of people to express there interests
and emotions.
