Evaluation – Question 2
How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
HarrisonRadcliffe
Choice of clothing: I decided to dress my
character in the stereotypical
assassin way. By using a black
suit with a white shirt and
black tie I have met the
audiences expectations of
what an assassin could /
should look like.
The suit gives my character a
professional look and makes
him seem important.
The colour black connotes
death and darkness which is
what an assassin is primarily
surrounded by. However the
white shirt contradicts this and
it connotes purity. But from
the characters point of view,
he may see himself as
purifying the population by
assassinating certain immoral
and corrupt people.

Choice of Actor:
I
chose to use my brother, Tyler Radcliffe to play the part of Ephesian.
He is 18 years old which is a lot younger than most assassins/hit men
in films. The audience may be surprised to see such a young person
as a hit man but it does allow for the audience to ask a lot of
questions. It also allows the storyline to go down multiple routes.
I used Tyler in my preliminary task and he acted in it well so I
considered him first for my film opening. I know Tyler well so I
matched some of his traits to the traits of a traditional hit man like
how is quite arrogant and vein. He also wears suits nearly every day
for work so I saw how he looked a lot like a traditional hit man.

Target Audience:
My film opening was and is aimed at males aged between about 13
and 30. As Tyler is 18 years old, there will be an audience that can
relate themselves directly to him and his role. However the audience
that is not in their late teens/early twenties will not be able to relate
themselves to the young hit man as easily. This is different to a lot of
films on the market as the main character is usually a lot older than
18. However a film called “Kingsman: The Secret Service” was
released in January 2015 and there is a younger main character who
plays the part of a spy. This film follows a lot of the conventions of
action films as mine does and it was very successful. Perhaps having
a younger main character is the way forward and it might attract a
lot of younger people.
