- 1. In what way does you media product use, develop or challenge forms and convention of real media products?
- 2. I used the concept of them rocking out with the guitar in the video as it is a well known concept in this genre. In the KOL video it shows how he is playing the guitar, this is the same as my video on the left. I chose to use this idea as I felt that it held more of a theme that couldn’t go missed as it is a sold part in the rock genre and challenging it would have been risky as it may not have shown that my video fit the conventions of a rock video as this is definitely one of the main ones.
- 3. In the KOL video it shows the main singer at an extreme close up at most of the beginning of the song before it starts to do cut always. I used this idea but I slightly changed it so I made the main singer sing the beginning parts but I also not only used extreme close ups but I varied the shots with close ups and mid shots of the other band member. As the convention in a rock video is to keep the focus on the main singer I used this while still building a variation of shots.
- 4. The costume in the Kings of Leon video is more relaxed and casual whereas the costume in my video is more formal as they are wearing suits. I decided to challenge the original convention in this case as it fit more in tune with my storyline for the song as they are based in school. KOL do show a more relaxed vibe as this is well known in this genre as they choose to care more about music then their image.
