The document compares the student's preliminary and main magazine cover page assignments. For the main task, the student improved by including more details in the masthead and titles, using conventions of the hip hop genre, and displaying information more depth. The student learned how to use Photoshop tools like the lasso and magnetic selection tools better. Planning was also improved, like taking more structured photos with planned shots and costumes and creating a production schedule to avoid rushing. Overall, the preliminary task helped the student learn magazine terminology and conventions to apply to their improved main assignment.

2. The difference between design in Preliminary front cover page to

Comparing the two I feel I have learnt and improve upon the detail I go into when
making a front cover page for a magazine. Especially with the masthead and titles
used in the magazine. As seen below I have used different conventions of the hip hop
genre to really make my artist stand out. The detail and information displayed is in
more depth on the main task cover page compared to the preliminary front cover .

3. What I have learnt?
 In the progress of making magazine pages I have
learnt how to become better at using Photoshop than
when I first made my school magazine.
 I’ve learnt how to use the different tools such as lasso
tool and magnetic tool this helped me to edit out all
the background locations on the pictures on the music
magazine..

4. I have also been
making production
schedules for my main
task. I kept to the
structure of the
production schedule
so that I didn't have to
rush my work. Which
helped me when
carrying out all my
tasks.

5. Preliminary task photos
 The photos taken for the preliminary task were not of a good standard compared
because no planning went into the photos compared to when I took the photos for my
main task so I have improved in shot planning.

 The photos taken for my main task were more structured in terms of me
planning for them.

7. Costume props and planning in
contents pages improvements
 The right costumes were key for me in my
magazine compared to when I first started
to make my magazine compared to when I
just took random photos in the preliminary
task without the proper location. As seen
below the comparison of the costuming that
is worn is more detailed in my main task
than compared to the preliminary task.

8. Overall
 Overall in terms of production I have learnt how to
plan and research better because of the preliminary
task as it helped me with learning how to use
Photoshop in the first place and it helped me to seek
out conventions of magazines and understand the
terminology of magazines such as “Masthead” and
“Cover line” .
 I also feel I have become better at Photoshop design
but also analysing magazines at a better rate compared
to when I did for my preliminary task.
