Evaluation Of The Method Of Rt Pcr
Introduction
RT PCR is one of the most useful methods used within investigated tissue to compare all transcripts
accurately. To apply it accurately it has some challenges as it critically depends on the various
reference materials and correct use of calibration. PCR diagnostics application to tissues is often
limited by the lack of quality template due to inefficient RNA extraction methodologies (Sellars et
al., 2007). Ecologically influenced or disease phenotypes and the cellular expression patterns
relationship addressed with the use of gene expression profile. Enhanced information on biology of
plant/microbe interactions depends on PCR–based detection technologies as utilizing species
specific primers are proving indispensable as research tools (S.A. Deepak et al., 2007). Scientists
interested in detecting dynamics of gene expression use RT PCR as their first choice because of high
sensitivity and specificity than standard PCR which gradually proving to be insufficient for living
systems (Deutsch, 2011).
Understanding of gene function and abnormal alterations in regulation that may result in a disease
state quantification of transcription levels of genes plays a central role. Molecular medicine and
clinical diagnostics progression crucially depends on the innovation of the real–time polymerase
chain reaction (PCR) technique. For example we can name the quantization of relative gene
expression as detection of minimal residual disease and cancer diagnostics (Zaros et al.,

Program Evaluation Model The Decision–based Approach The decision–based approach is
appropriate for a program established to increase retention because it allows questions to be utilized
in the guidance of the program rather than objectives serving as the criteria for the program
(Spaulding, 2014). Questions are asked by those directly involved in the program, such as directors
that seek clarity to an issue like retention among adult learners. The decision–based approach allows
questions to be presented to the evaluator; thus, the evaluator must go out and collect data to answer
the questions (Spaulding, 2014). The decision–based approach for the retention program evaluation
plan will includes both quantitative and qualitative methods. The surveys, questionnaires, and
interviews conducted will be the source of the quantitative and qualitative results provided to

Evaluation And Applied Research Methods
Workshop in evaluation and applied research methods
Question 1
Occupational health psychology workshop
In the first workshop, Professor Semmer introduced Occupational health psychology in general.
Because of its crucial role in work setting, more programs aiming at improving occupational health
are flourishing. This is where evaluation is needed.
The purpose of Occupational health psychology is to improve the quality of work life, and to protect
and promote safety, health and well–being of workers ("Occupational health psychology," 2010).
Initially, occupational health psychology was used to be called "occupational stress", which
indicates that stress is one of the most important sources of work–related injures and diseases.
Individuals being in long–term stress tend to be influenced both psychologically and somatically.
Psychologically, people in stress will be low self–esteem, lack of energy, more easily to burnout.
Physically, it will be harder for them to go to sleep, and there is a higher risk for them to get
cardiovascular problems and weaker immune system. Due to these outcomes, stressed–out
individuals have a higher chance to turn to smoking, alcohol and drugs for avoidance from the
reality, which further leads to poor performance at work and negative attitudes towards the
organization. In addition to stress, the imbalances between demand and control, and effort and
reward are threats to well–being as well.
In general, work is beneficial to individuals. Unemployed

An Interview With A Interview
An interview involves communication between at least two persons. Each contributor impacts and is
impacted by the responses of the other. The practice of interviewing is central to the work done in
many mental health settings. Interviews may be conducted for a variety of intended purposes and
can be structured, semi–structured, or unstructured to best serve the purpose of the interview. The
goals of a particular interview relate to the context in which that interview is conducted. Ethical
clinical interviewing encompasses care for the client while working to achieve the goals of the
interview. Some practitioners refer to interviewing as 'a conversation with a purpose. '
Key concepts:
● Ethical Interviewing
● Diagnostic Interviewing
● Intake Interview
● Stages of the Interview
● Informed Consent
● Rapport
● Listening Skills
Introduction
Clinical interviewing is the foundation for practically all work conducted in the helping professions.
There are a number of distinct advantages that contribute to the widespread use of clinical
interviewing. Interviews are inexpensive to conduct, are multidimensional in that they tap into both
verbal and nonverbal behaviors, are both portable and flexible, and facilitate the development of a
therapeutic rapport.
Due to these advantages, the clinical interview has become the most widely used method of
preliminary clinical assessment and provides a basic context for almost all other psychological
assessments and treatments. The concept that

Effects Of Sleep On College Students
Sleep has been studied by people around the world to determine if it affects daily activities and
personality, but as a college student who does not get the recommended seven to eight hours of
sleep a night I thought it would be interesting to research if the amount of time a students is able to
sleep on average affects their grade point average (GPA). Therefore the goal of this research will be
to determine if students who get the recommended seven to eight hours of sleep have a higher grade
point average than those who do not. This is important to know, to understand why students may or
may not be achieving the grades that they are capable of. Through my research I was able to look
deeper into the effect sleep has on a students grade ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This cross–sectional data consisted of 410 participants who responded to a questionnaire. Of these
participants, 273 (67%) were male and the mean age was 20.37 years old. GPA was stratified into
excellent (GPA > = 3.75) and average (GPA < 3.75), of these participants 115 (28%) students were
classified as excellent. This study looked at demographics such as sex, BMI, obesity, smoking
habits, internet usage, and school day jobs. It also observed sleep habits for both study groups
(excellent and average). This study shows that obesity (p–value = .03 < .05 level of significance),
smoking (.01 < .05), and internet usage (.03 < .05) are all statistically significant lurking variables
that affect a students GPA. Therefore though longer sleepers on average obtain a higher GPA, there
are many statistically significant variables that also affect GPA. In the third study (Ridgway, et al.
2005) which observed if oversleeping affected GPA, researchers conducted a cross–sectional study
on 231 undergraduate students who were recruited to participate in a questionnaire that assessed
variables that related to sleep quality and habits, personality, and GPA. Of these 231 students, 75
(32.5%) were men and the mean age of participants was 19 years old (range: 19–41 years old).

Agarwal and Tanniru conducted a field experiment to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of
structured versus unstructured interviews, using both novice and experienced interviewers. The
experiment was conducted to compare the efficiency and effectiveness of the cognitive interview
with the standard information requirements interview. However, the experimental results did not
indicate that structured interviews enhanced recall. This triggered the experiment using the

By random, a reference librarian was interviewed using either technique by an interviewer trained in
both.
The dependent variables: (1) the number of events elicited per each interview (efficiency), and (2)
the degree of completeness of details recalled per event (effectiveness) were examined.
Cognitive interview was found to be both more effective and more efficient than standard
interviewing techniques in eliciting episodic knowledge from reference librarians. In order for the
cognitive interview to be considered an effective interviewing technique, more than one rater must
determine that the degree of completeness of details of the events collected under the CI are higher
than those collected under the SI.
All interviews were conducted in private rooms individually. The interviews were conducted at the
institute of each patron. Ten students enrolled in a senior–level expert system class who received
training on the SI and the CI during regularly scheduled class time. No one involved knew of the
details of the experiment or the types of techniques being tested. Interviewers received course credit
and monetary compensation for their participation.
The interview has long been part of the systems professional's repertoire of elicitation tools, used
extensively in both requirements analysis and knowledge acquisition. It is said that there are some
drawbacks associated with the use of interviews. Open interviews are seen as

Evaluation Of Research Methods And Data Collection A...
In the textbook's evaluation of research methods and data collection a useful acronym referenced for
remembering and evaluating research was LOTS of data (Cervone & Pervin, 2013). The L stands
for life record data that is obtained by looking at a person's life history. A person's life history can be
accessed and assessed by looking up police, court, or public records. The O stands for observational
data which is information given by knowledgeable observers of the person in question. This data is
obtained usually via questionnaires or other rating forms. The T stands for test data in which the
information is collected from experiments where researchers measure performance. This data is
usually performed in a lab where the environment can be controlled in order to test and measure a
specific item. The last letter of the acronym, the letter S, stands for self–report data in which
participants report about themselves usually via questionnaires. Additionally to the LOTS of data
acronym, sources of data can also differ in their respective measures. Two categories of measures
cited in the textbook are nomothetic measures and ideographic measures (Cervone & Pervin, 2013).
Nomothetic measures are fixed procedures that use the same test items for every participant and
calculate the scores for all participants in exactly the same way. An example of nomothetic measures
would be true or false questions, and yes or no questions. This method is most commonly used in

Evaluation Of Performance Appraisal Methods
Performance Appraisal Methods Performance appraisal methods include 11 methods / types as
follows: 1. Critical incident method The critical incidents for performance appraisal is a method in
which the manager writes down positive and negative performance behavior of employees
throughout the performance period 2. Weighted checklist This method describes a performance
appraisal method where rater familiar with the jobs being evaluated prepared a large list of
descriptive statements about effective and ineffective behavior on jobs 3. Paired comparison
analysis Paired comparison analysis is a good way of weighing up the relative importance of
options. A range of plausible options is listed. Each option is compared against each of the other
options. The results are tallied and the option with the highest score is the preferred option. 4.
Graphic rating scales The Rating Scale is a form on which the manager simply checks off the
employee's level of performance. This is the oldest and most widely method used for performance
appraisal. 5. Essay Evaluation This method asked managers / supervisors to describe strengths and
weaknesses of an employee's behavior. Essay evaluation is a non–quantitative technique This
method usually is used with the graphic rating scale method. 6. Behaviourally anchored rating scales
This method used to describe a performance rating that focused on specific behaviors or sets as
indicators of effective or ineffective performance. It is a combination of the

The data also demonstrated that a women 's involvement in residential burglary is diverse. For
example, in the interviews, the subjects roles ranged from primary roles exclusively, some adopted
secondary roles exclusively, and others moved from one type of role to another as they became
more experienced.
The study results suggested that further examinations need to be made, in future research, into the
apparent differences between man and women 's involvement in residential burglary to confirm the
results concluded from the data. The qualitative data presented was clear in attempting to understand
and answer the research question, what are women 's involvements in residential burglaries, but did
not answer the question conclusively.
Although, the study has social policy implications as, there is limited research and theoretical
explanations on female criminality.

Methods Used In Employee Evaluation: Eastern Medicine Company
Analysis of Methods Used in Employee Evaluation Different organizations use various methods of
employee appraisal methods. Employee evaluation is critical since it helps an organization
determine whether it is making progress or not (Lyster & Arthur, 2007). Furthermore, employee
evaluation helps in evaluating how the employees have been contributing towards the organizational
goals and objectives. The following is an analysis of the assessment method used in the Eastern
Medicine Company; Rating Scales Eastern Medicine Company uses the rating scales whereby the
organization's employee's performances rated against a given scale. The rating method of employee
appraisal helps the management determine which area the examination will evaluate (Lyster &
Arthur, 2007). For instance, the examination can be used to evaluate the teamwork, reliability, job
skills and communication skills. The appraisal is used to assess the collaboration of the workforce in
the various department, job skills of each employee are evaluated against the developed scale and
the communication amongst employees and with their superiors. Strengths It saves time since the
scale is already developed it is a matter of ticking against the preferred rating per employee.
Therefore the personnel conducting the employee appraisal using this method to don't spend much
time recording for one worker. The evaluation method is not very costly since it only requires
printed materials and a pen or pencil to tick the

Satyam's strategic needs analysis to improve the profitability of resource utilization unit is an
example of this need. Another example of strategic need assessment is the community health
assessment conducted by Kaiser . The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act ACA, requires
nonprofit hospitals to conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) at least once every
three years. Kaiser Permanente has been conducting such assessment for many years to identify
needs and resources in the communities and to guide the Community Benefit plans, The new
legislation provides an opportunity to conduct such needs assessment and strategic planning
processes on an ongoing process. One may also note that the needs assessment can address strategic
issues pertaining to a large number of companies like the one conducted by Electricity Sector
Council . Phase 2: Identifying the appropriate method to gather data for the needs assessment The
needs assessment process relies on obtaining relevant data from the key stakeholders.Data collection
and analysis are a critical part of the needs assessment process . As the five case studies illustrate,
organizations use either one or a combination of more than one of the following methods to gather
data: Interviews , focus groups, surveys, archival records, photographs and videos observation .The
data collected by using one of these methods can either be qualitative or quantitative

Three Basic Job Evaluation Methods
Job Evaluation Methods
There are three basic methods of job evaluation: (1) ranking, (2) classification, (3) factor
comparison. While many variations of these methods exist in practice, the three basic approaches
are described here.
Ranking Method
Perhaps the simplest method of job evaluation is the ranking method. According to this method, jobs
are arranged from highest to lowest, in order of their value or merit to the organization. Jobs also
can be arranged according to the relative difficulty in performing them. The jobs are examined as a
whole rather than on the basis of important factors in the job; and the job at the top of the list has the
highest value and obviously the job at the bottom of the list will have the lowest ... Show more

Pay will be assigned in this method by comparing the weights of the factors required for each job,
i.e., the present wages paid for key jobs may be divided among the factors weighed by importance
(the most important factor, for instance, mental effort, receives the highest weight). In other words,
wages are assigned to the job in comparison to its ranking on each job factor.
The steps involved in factor comparison method may be briefly stated thus:
Select key jobs (say 15 to 20), representing wage/salary levels across the organization. The selected
jobs must represent as many departments as possible.
Find the factors in terms of which the jobs are evaluated (such as skill, mental effort, responsibility,
physical effort, working conditions, etc.).
Rank the selected jobs under each factor (by each and every member of the job evaluation
committee) independently.
Assign money value to each factor and determine the wage rates for each key job.
The wage rate for a job is apportioned along the identified factors.
All other jobs are compared with the list of key jobs and wage rates are determined.
An example of how the factor comparison method works is given below:
Table: Merits and Demerits of Factor Comparison Method

Demerits

The Rationale For The Choice Of Title Essay
1.0 Title and the Rationale for the Choice of Title The title of this training program is "Say No to
Sexual Harassment". Sexual harassment means undesirable or unwelcome sexual conduct which
makes people feel annoyed, embarrassed or scared (University of Minnesota 2015). Normally,
female employees are most likely to be the pity victims of sexual harassment. However, male
employees can be the victims too. Appendix 5 shows the snapshot of statistics about sexual
harassment in the workplace.
For most female today, it is important to get a job in order to be successful and independent women.
It is a transformation from past decades. The amount of female employees in the workplace is
getting more and more. In Malaysia, female employees consist of 38.60 % of total labor force in
2013. By comparing to 1990, involvement of women in the workplace has increased 1.1% (Trading
Economics 2015). Appendix 6 shows the percentages of female workforce in the workplace in
Malaysia in different years. Since involvement of women in the workplace is getting more and
more, we believe that sexual harassment against female employees will increase.
The aim of this training program is to help trainees understand sexual harassment more in the
workplace. Sexual harassment is part of the sex discrimination (Australian Human Rights
Commission 2015). Sexual harassment in the workplace becomes a common issue in this world.
Therefore, sexual harassment training must give to all

These usability evaluation methods allowed us to recognize the major flaws of the website, also
assisted to identify the key features and aspects of the website which have to be improved.
The first aspect needs to be changed within the website is the colors and the font size used
throughout the entire website. Based on the heuristics evaluation we performed, the font size used in
the website is big, which makes reading the content uncomfortable, also there are many colors used
in the website without any professionalism , which led to make the website unattractive, also the

It is one of the biggest flaws of the website, for this reason it is essential to create enough space
between the paragraphs and images so the viewer has space to breathe, minimize the paragraphs size
of the content, divide large blocks of information into more manageable groups where natural and
appropriate, avoid content clutter especially on the homepage, present information in more precise
and ordered way to minimize the scrolling required, and finally, organize the content with respect to
the principles of contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity. All these steps must be taken to
accomplish three of our usability goals (effective home page, Clarity of the interface, Motivating
website), as well as to meet two of the Windows Interface Guidelines, "aesthetics" and "simplicity".
Another aspect is the lack of menu, quick links and search engine, based on our observations, users
were not able to find different kinds of information they were looking for, and the reason for that is
because the website does not offer any menu or quick links to allow users to navigate quickly,
additionally, the website does not have a search engine which allows users to find products quickly,
so one goal when redesigning the website is to build a main menu, and

Methods of Evaluation and Critical Thinking
The overall activity was very interesting in regards to my personal methods of evaluation and
critical thinking. Each image was unique as I often applied my own personal knowledge and
experience the overall interpretation of the picture. To begin, as I viewed the first picture, I scanned
it for familiar objects or activities. For instance, the first image showed a boat, a woman, and a
horse. Through this observation, I determined that the women were working extremely hard in a
particular profession, such as farming. From the first initial picture, it seemed as though the women
was having an unpleasant experience as she was working in the mountains. The overall color of the
picture also affected my overall interpretation. For instance, the black and white coloring seemed to
indicate a mood of despair or monotony. In addition, the vague background seemed to focus the
observer's attention on both the woman and the horse as she worked, seemingly, in a tireless fashion.
Once more clarity was provided in the second picture, I could easy interpret the overall image. The
ships in the background for instance, provided additional possibilities in regards to the overall
context of the picture. For example, the women could have been a settler picking up supplies. The
once gloomy observation from the first picture has now been replaced with a more optimistic tone
and observation. After viewing the higher quality image, my views of the first image subsequently

Evaluation Methods In Their Handbook Of Practical Program...
Methods Newcomer, et al. (2015) suggest manny useful evaluation methods in their Handbook of
Practical Program Evaluation. One of which is using the internet. It is stated that the internet has a
few ways of being a resourceful tool for this process. First by having ease of access to literature
reviews, second by conducting and administering surveys, and lastly by posting an sharing results.
The internet has been instrumental in this paper. US News, compiles empirical evidence, provided

Perhaps an adjunct who receives benefits but only works a limited number of hours a week, so that
they can also be committed to family or outside work is ideal, but unknown through these methods.
The inclusion of interviews would have improved this evaluation process. Using the internet to
conduct research provides us with a superficial evaluation of each institution. To determine if either
place is ideal for ones education employment needed, as US News (2016) pointed out, interviews
and torus (time spent on each campus) is vital. With out these crucial missing elements, there are no
conclusions to be made from this approach comparing these two universities. The only thing this
research did do was reenforce any Deaf or Hard of hearing individual to attend a Deaf college, but

Every business creates a website that paints them in a good light, college sites are no different. All
the pictures are of students happily reading or smiling while studding and we just know that is not
always to be seen or found on campus. Colleges view their websites as a recruitment tool so the
information can be bias and misleading. Montclair Universities website was difficult to navigate and

The term ``case method ' ' has come to refer to a wide range of teaching styles and objectives that
can be adopted within the use of case studies for teaching (Dooley and Skinner, 1977). It has been
proposed that the case method can be used to: . gain illustration of particular points, issues or
managerial principles; . provide managers with a neutral situation in which they are free to explore
problems (because they are not their own); . relate theory to practice; . confront the complexities of
specific situations; . develop analysis and synthesis; . develop self–analysis, attitudes, confidence,
responsibility; . develop interpersonal skills, communication and listening; and . develop judgement
and wisdom and enliven teaching. The method may gain the student 's intellectual and emotional
involvement and assist the long–term retention of understanding and bring realism into instructional
settings (Romm and Mahler, 1991; Osigweh, 1989; Smith, 1987; Christensen and Hansen, 1987;
Dooley and Skinner, 1977). The case method is not without its limitations. Cases may be limited in
the extent to which they present the realities of an organization. Yin (1989) comments that a case
need not reflect a complete or accurate rendition of actual events; its purpose is to establish a
framework for discussion among students. Similarly Towl (1969) describing case writing at Harvard

the communication that takes place simultaneously in time and place. During the interview, the

and accurate to use the function of recording whilst conducting the interview. But before the
interview, we have to inform the interviewee that the interview commencing will be recorded, and
secure permission from said interviewee before starting the interview.
While the interviewer is talking, the other team members still have to take notes. This is for two
reasons; firstly, you can use notes to make sure you have asked the question you wanted to, and not
miss any. Secondly, one takes notes of the interviewees' body language and facial expressions. In
most cases, note–taking is also used in case any important contents might be missed or if

Methods Of Program Evaluation. Evaluation Research Is Offered
Methods of Program Evaluation Evaluation research is offered referred to as program evaluation,
which indicates a research purpose, not a specific research method (Maxfield, 2015, p. 280). The
evaluation research purpose is to evaluate the effects of policies, for instance, new sentencing laws.
There are many types of evaluation research, such as problem analysis, evidence–based policy, and
evidence generation. The purpose of this paper is to show the important of evaluation research
through an evaluation research publication.

This will find if there is a big influence of publication bias and to give comparable statistics to this
question a random sample of eighty–six references were taking from a database. The database was
based on explanative and evaluation approach, which was more quantitative. While the second
question was about the statistical assessment of publication bias that asked to what extent is a
statistical assessment of publication bias for evaluation studies in health informatics possible
(Machan, 2006). This question allows for a scatter plot classifying every single study by effect size
and study quality. In order to achieve the researchers had to find a certain number of studies
evaluating the systems, measuring the same effect and providing quantitative data for effect size and
study quality. The evaluation research done for this question was physician order entry system, drug
prescription system, and more quantitative. Whereas the third question was quality of reviews and
meta–analyses that asked are there more systematic and narrative reviews or more meta–analyses
referenced in the database and do most of them draw positive, neutral or negative conclusion
(Machan, 2006). Also, asked if there is an issue of publication bias being dealt with by the

The Role Of Peer Assessment On The Classroom
The role of peer–assessment in the classroom
As I have been investigating the role of peer–assessment in writing I have reviewed the literature
concerning the implementation of these methods in the classroom.
Falchikov & Goldfinch (2000, p. 287) give a definition of peer and self–assessment as;
'In both of these activities, students are engaging with criteria and standards, and applying them to
make judgements. In self assessment, students judge their own work, while in peer assessment they
judge the work of their peers.'
A deeper definition comes from Black & Wiliam (2001, p.2);
"An assessment activity can help learning if it provides information to be used as feedback, by
teachers, and by their [students] in assessing themselves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sadler (1989, p.83) merits the process of peer–assessing in stating that it is valuable as the
'interchange will be in language that they naturally use' – therefore meaning is constructed in a
different way.
Peer and self– assessment is a type of formative assessment for learning as oppose to a summative
form – it is concerned with how to take information about the students learning process and
subsequently use the data collected to optimize learning. Researchers have been keen to investigate
whether formative assessment can have measurable positive impact on learning (Black, Harrison,
and Lee 2003; Black and William 1998).
Kollar and Fischer (2010, p 305)
Black & William (1998) have been researching formative assessment since 1996. Their large–scale
review found that formative reform raises standards in schools lending it to be used to inform the
Key Stage 3 Strategy, as well as the Primary National Strategy. In 1998 they conducted a four–year
study 'Inside the Black Box–Raising Standards Through Classroom Assessment' a meta–analysis in
which they investigated worldwide for effective classroom based research. They identified 700
studies, but were judicious in choosing only those with large effect sizes and reliable design. The
study measured learning gains by comparing (a) the average improvements in pupils ' scores on tests

Smithers: Implementation and Sigma Program Essays
Overview: This case talks about John Smithers and his experience with the new Six Sigma Program
at Sigtek. The program was implemented by the parent company of Sigtek and Smithers and a
colleague, Sam Murphy, were both selected to learn about this program from Telwork (the parent
company) and then run the program to teach about change to the employees at Sigtek.
Problems:
The main problem that is seen in this case study is the fact that the Six Sigma program that was
implemented to bring change was not working. To Smithers it felt as if corporate didn't really care
about the company or this program. There was not enough support given to the program or the need
for change so that Six Sigma could actually be a positive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Vertical coordination is when higher levels control and coordinate the work of subordinates through
authority, rules, policies, planning and control systems. In the case it can be seen that Telwork uses
vertical coordination to have Sigtek and its other subsidiaries comply with its Six Sigma Program. It
gets the upper level people of the company to do as they are told so that the program runs along at
the pace that they had preordained for it. Through vertical coordination Telwork gets Smithers and
Murphy to do this program according to the company's views and at the company's pace. Lateral
coordination can also be seen in this case study. Smithers and Murphy head up meetings to help
those that work at Sigtek understand the needs for a Six Sigma Program and then they try to use
these meetings to implement change as they see fit (after getting input from employees that
participated in the Six Sigma meetings). A task force is set up to bring these changes into effect.
From this case we can say this situation illustrates excessive autonomy. All the instructions are
giving down from the parent company and all that Smithers and Murphy can do is obey orders.
They went to get trained and then came back to Sigtek to train the employees all according to the
plans that were put in place by Telwork. There was no leeway at all for the two men to make their
own judgments and even if they did; those judgment

How Is Sociological Imagination Useful
Sociological imagination is not a theory, but an outlook of society which tries to maneuver us into
thinking away from one's usual everyday life and look at one's life anew. The sociological
imagination is the ability to discern the relationship between large–scale social forces and the
actions of individuals. Sociological imagination was created by American Sociologist C. Wright
Mills in 1959 to describe the type of insight offered by the discipline of sociology. According to
Mills, "Neither the life of an individual nor the history of a society can be understood without
understanding both" (Mills,1). Mills believes that the sociological imagination is useful because it
makes people more aware of the relationship between personal experience and the wider society.
Sociological imagination is still a useful tool for the 21st century. I believe that it will always be a
relevant tool to use. It is a way of understanding people and looking beyond one's own everyday life

structured interviews in the different forms of interviews. This review does not just summarizes
structures of different interviews but solely on the effects of a structured interview considering
different factors that encompasses it. The use of analytics, meta–analyses, reliability and content
validity are few of the factors that will be accentuated.
The papers terms for "structured" interviews will include forms of the following terms
"standardized", "systematic" and "organized". This paper defines the term "structure" in vague way
as anything that intends to help the interviewer by having a fixed strategy or a set of questions that
assist in the interview process. There will be references of different methods of interviewing and the
use of a structured form to increase its reliability and validity. The term "test" will be used
throughout the paper and is another term that means interview, since an interview is test in the form
of communication and presentation.
There are different ways of structuring interviews that will be used as part of the framework of the
paper and will be used to explain the validity of structured interviews. Conducting the interviews on

needs participants and a reporting structure (Cooper & Schindler, 2014). In order to not affect the

As a result spent more time on discussing the poster therefore students did not get enough time to

viewed the movie poster for Madagascar 3, which I chose based on their interests. I engaged the
students in discussions about the target audience, text, colour, characters and how these all things
contribute to persuade people to go and watch the movie. As a class we brainstormed key
persuading words. Students were then asked to create their own persuasive poster about something
they like and would like to persuade their peers to like. This ensured that the lesson catered for
student diversity as they all have different interests and were encouraged to present them in their

Evaluation Of A Research Topic Using Various Scientific...
Reflection: Action Research There are many ways to approach on solving a research topic using
various scientific methods. Research methods are mainly use in decision making that guide the
researchers to develop and test out their hypothesis to their study. Action research is a type of
applied research that uses systemic approach to evaluate and observe countless solutions to a
problem. Action research is most likely to be used in educational setting, where educators to find
and use applicable information to solve and improve an issue in a collaborative setting (Creswell,
2005). Action research is unique since it can be done in collaboration with educators with similar
goal and mind set. Action research uses mixed method study where it includes both qualitative and
quantitative data. The usage of systemic approach along with scientific method it enables
researchers to gather unbiased information during data gather and decision making.
Action research is unlike most research method where it conducted in spiraling cycle. Action
research study is done in four different stages; planning, acting, developing and reflecting. This
method is done in a cyclical process unlike most linear studies. This method allows researchers to
evaluate, observe and reflect that data until a plan is developed with an achievable goal that they
have in place ( Mertler 2006). There are two types of action research design a practical one and a
participatory one. A practical action research

What Hierarchy Of Evidence Is Used When Making Decisions...
EBP Research Paper What hierarchy of evidence is used when making decisions about clinical
interventions? (p. 114) There are many versions of the hierarchical evidence levels. When deciding
on basing clinical interventions on evidence, there are two specific models to look at. They both
describe levels of evidence and are depicted as pyramids. The first is the 6S model, with the "more
patient–specific" information listed at the top of the pyramid (Houser, 2015). The top of the pyramid
has the least amount of information as compared to the base, it is more relevant, but it yields the
least amount of information (2015). Conversely, the more abundant information found at the bottom
is less relevant to the specific intervention in question (2015). Also, the searches conducted at the
more basic levels typically take less time to yield results due to the broader relationship to the
intervention in question (2015). The 6S model of hierarchical pyramid of evidence are listed as
follows from highest to lowest: Systems – this level includes "clinical decision support system
(CDSS)". This level is ranked the highest because evidence is acquired from point–of–care
databases that are linked to electronic medical records of specific patients (2015). Summaries –

There are so many new teaching and learning practices involving blended and shared approaches
(Litoiu, 2014). Professional development is no longer just a face–to–face experience. There are now
virtual worlds and enhanced learning experiences that can increase an educators interactions with
colleagues and create a more involved and exciting learning experience (Litoiu, 2014). It is
therefore necessary for educators and other school professionals to obtain a number of new skills, to
relearn previous skills, and to meet the new social and knowledge demands (Aspin, 2001).
According to research and data collected by the National Center for Education Statistics (2006), it
shows that in the 1999–2000 school year that 95 percent of the educators did take part in many
different trainings and workshops. By 2008, 78 percent of teachers reported that although they felt
they did more teaching in the classroom than learning themselves, that they did have a mentor
teacher to help support them in the classroom (Honawar, 2008).
Delivering Professional Development in Education In order for educators to master new skills,
practices, and meet new expectations, educators must be able to work with colleagues in order to
better understand and examine the new standards that are being proposed (Corcoran, 1995).
According to Corcoran (1995), "if teachers are to be adequately prepared to work effectively in the
classrooms and school environment...there must be an effective

(Reh, 2011)" Cost/benefit analysis is a possible suggestion because the Consultation and Education
Department director can argue that the benefit of the program far outweighs the cost of the program.
The Consultation and Education department draw clients in and a large majority of these clients go
on to participate in the larger, more funding drawing, programs. So if the department is done away
with, client numbers may decrease and other programs may suffer. "Outcomes evaluation is often
described first by looking at its basic components. Outcomes evaluation looks at programs as
systems that have inputs, activities/processes, outputs and outcomes –– this system's view is useful
in examining any program! * Inputs –
These are materials and resources that the program uses in its activities, or processes, to serve
clients, equipment, staff, volunteers, facilities, money, etc. These are often easy to identify and many
of the inputs seem common to many organizations and programs. * Activities –
These are the activities, or processes, that the program undertakes with/to the client in order to meet
the clients' needs, for example, teaching, counseling, sheltering, feeding, clothing, etc. Note that
when identifying the activities in a program, the focus is still pretty much on the organization or

Evaluation Of The Method Of Rt Pcr

  • 1. Evaluation Of The Method Of Rt Pcr Introduction RT PCR is one of the most useful methods used within investigated tissue to compare all transcripts accurately. To apply it accurately it has some challenges as it critically depends on the various reference materials and correct use of calibration. PCR diagnostics application to tissues is often limited by the lack of quality template due to inefficient RNA extraction methodologies (Sellars et al., 2007). Ecologically influenced or disease phenotypes and the cellular expression patterns relationship addressed with the use of gene expression profile. Enhanced information on biology of plant/microbe interactions depends on PCR–based detection technologies as utilizing species specific primers are proving indispensable as research tools (S.A. Deepak et al., 2007). Scientists interested in detecting dynamics of gene expression use RT PCR as their first choice because of high sensitivity and specificity than standard PCR which gradually proving to be insufficient for living systems (Deutsch, 2011). Understanding of gene function and abnormal alterations in regulation that may result in a disease state quantification of transcription levels of genes plays a central role. Molecular medicine and clinical diagnostics progression crucially depends on the innovation of the real–time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique. For example we can name the quantization of relative gene expression as detection of minimal residual disease and cancer diagnostics (Zaros et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Program Evaluation Model The Decision–based Approach The decision–based approach is appropriate for a program established to increase retention because it allows questions to be utilized in the guidance of the program rather than objectives serving as the criteria for the program (Spaulding, 2014). Questions are asked by those directly involved in the program, such as directors that seek clarity to an issue like retention among adult learners. The decision–based approach allows questions to be presented to the evaluator; thus, the evaluator must go out and collect data to answer the questions (Spaulding, 2014). The decision–based approach for the retention program evaluation plan will includes both quantitative and qualitative methods. The surveys, questionnaires, and interviews conducted will be the source of the quantitative and qualitative results provided to support the implementation of the retention program for adult learners; subsequently, they will be utilized as the data collection tools. • 3. Evaluation And Applied Research Methods Workshop in evaluation and applied research methods Question 1 Occupational health psychology workshop In the first workshop, Professor Semmer introduced Occupational health psychology in general. Because of its crucial role in work setting, more programs aiming at improving occupational health are flourishing. This is where evaluation is needed. The purpose of Occupational health psychology is to improve the quality of work life, and to protect and promote safety, health and well–being of workers ("Occupational health psychology," 2010). Initially, occupational health psychology was used to be called "occupational stress", which indicates that stress is one of the most important sources of work–related injures and diseases. Individuals being in long–term stress tend to be influenced both psychologically and somatically. Psychologically, people in stress will be low self–esteem, lack of energy, more easily to burnout. Physically, it will be harder for them to go to sleep, and there is a higher risk for them to get cardiovascular problems and weaker immune system. Due to these outcomes, stressed–out individuals have a higher chance to turn to smoking, alcohol and drugs for avoidance from the reality, which further leads to poor performance at work and negative attitudes towards the organization. In addition to stress, the imbalances between demand and control, and effort and reward are threats to well–being as well. In general, work is beneficial to individuals. Unemployed ... • 4. An Interview With A Interview An interview involves communication between at least two persons. Each contributor impacts and is impacted by the responses of the other. The practice of interviewing is central to the work done in many mental health settings. Interviews may be conducted for a variety of intended purposes and can be structured, semi–structured, or unstructured to best serve the purpose of the interview. The goals of a particular interview relate to the context in which that interview is conducted. Ethical clinical interviewing encompasses care for the client while working to achieve the goals of the interview. Some practitioners refer to interviewing as 'a conversation with a purpose. ' Key concepts: ● Ethical Interviewing ● Diagnostic Interviewing ● Intake Interview ● Stages of the Interview ● Informed Consent ● Rapport ● Listening Skills Introduction Clinical interviewing is the foundation for practically all work conducted in the helping professions. There are a number of distinct advantages that contribute to the widespread use of clinical interviewing. Interviews are inexpensive to conduct, are multidimensional in that they tap into both verbal and nonverbal behaviors, are both portable and flexible, and facilitate the development of a therapeutic rapport. Due to these advantages, the clinical interview has become the most widely used method of preliminary clinical assessment and provides a basic context for almost all other psychological assessments and treatments. • 6. Effects Of Sleep On College Students Sleep has been studied by people around the world to determine if it affects daily activities and personality, but as a college student who does not get the recommended seven to eight hours of sleep a night I thought it would be interesting to research if the amount of time a students is able to sleep on average affects their grade point average (GPA). Therefore the goal of this research will be to determine if students who get the recommended seven to eight hours of sleep have a higher grade point average than those who do not. This is important to know, to understand why students may or may not be achieving the grades that they are capable of. Through my research I was able to look deeper into the effect sleep has on a students grade ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This cross–sectional data consisted of 410 participants who responded to a questionnaire. Of these participants, 273 (67%) were male and the mean age was 20.37 years old. GPA was stratified into excellent (GPA > = 3.75) and average (GPA < 3.75), of these participants 115 (28%) students were classified as excellent. This study looked at demographics such as sex, BMI, obesity, smoking habits, internet usage, and school day jobs. It also observed sleep habits for both study groups (excellent and average). This study shows that obesity (p–value = .03 < .05 level of significance), smoking (.01 < .05), and internet usage (.03 < .05) are all statistically significant lurking variables that affect a students GPA. Therefore though longer sleepers on average obtain a higher GPA, there are many statistically significant variables that also affect GPA. In the third study (Ridgway, et al. 2005) which observed if oversleeping affected GPA, researchers conducted a cross–sectional study on 231 undergraduate students who were recruited to participate in a questionnaire that assessed variables that related to sleep quality and habits, personality, and GPA. Of these 231 students, 75 (32.5%) were men and the mean age of participants was 19 years old (range: 19–41 years old). According to the results of this study sleep once again was not ... Agarwal and Tanniru conducted a field experiment to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of structured versus unstructured interviews, using both novice and experienced interviewers. The experiment was conducted to compare the efficiency and effectiveness of the cognitive interview with the standard information requirements interview. However, the experimental results did not indicate that structured interviews enhanced recall. This triggered the experiment using the Cognitive Interview. By random, a reference librarian was interviewed using either technique by an interviewer trained in both. The dependent variables: (1) the number of events elicited per each interview (efficiency), and (2) the degree of completeness of details recalled per event (effectiveness) were examined. Cognitive interview was found to be both more effective and more efficient than standard interviewing techniques in eliciting episodic knowledge from reference librarians. In order for the cognitive interview to be considered an effective interviewing technique, more than one rater must determine that the degree of completeness of details of the events collected under the CI are higher than those collected under the SI. All interviews were conducted in private rooms individually. The interviews were conducted at the institute of each patron. Ten students enrolled in a senior–level expert system class who received training on the SI and the CI during regularly scheduled class time. No one involved knew of the details of the experiment or the types of techniques being tested. Interviewers received course credit and monetary compensation for their participation. The interview has long been part of the systems professional's repertoire of elicitation tools, used extensively in both requirements analysis and knowledge acquisition. • 8. Evaluation Of Research Methods And Data Collection A... In the textbook's evaluation of research methods and data collection a useful acronym referenced for remembering and evaluating research was LOTS of data (Cervone & Pervin, 2013). The L stands for life record data that is obtained by looking at a person's life history. A person's life history can be accessed and assessed by looking up police, court, or public records. The O stands for observational data which is information given by knowledgeable observers of the person in question. This data is obtained usually via questionnaires or other rating forms. The T stands for test data in which the information is collected from experiments where researchers measure performance. This data is usually performed in a lab where the environment can be controlled in order to test and measure a specific item. The last letter of the acronym, the letter S, stands for self–report data in which participants report about themselves usually via questionnaires. Additionally to the LOTS of data acronym, sources of data can also differ in their respective measures. Two categories of measures cited in the textbook are nomothetic measures and ideographic measures (Cervone & Pervin, 2013). Nomothetic measures are fixed procedures that use the same test items for every participant and calculate the scores for all participants in exactly the same way. An example of nomothetic measures would be true or false questions, and yes or no questions. This method is most commonly used in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Three Basic Job Evaluation Methods Job Evaluation Methods There are three basic methods of job evaluation: (1) ranking, (2) classification, (3) factor comparison. While many variations of these methods exist in practice, the three basic approaches are described here. Ranking Method Perhaps the simplest method of job evaluation is the ranking method. According to this method, jobs are arranged from highest to lowest, in order of their value or merit to the organization. Jobs also can be arranged according to the relative difficulty in performing them. The jobs are examined as a whole rather than on the basis of important factors in the job; and the job at the top of the list has the highest value and obviously the job at the bottom of the list will have the lowest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pay will be assigned in this method by comparing the weights of the factors required for each job, i.e., the present wages paid for key jobs may be divided among the factors weighed by importance (the most important factor, for instance, mental effort, receives the highest weight). In other words, wages are assigned to the job in comparison to its ranking on each job factor. The steps involved in factor comparison method may be briefly stated thus: Select key jobs (say 15 to 20), representing wage/salary levels across the organization. The selected jobs must represent as many departments as possible. Find the factors in terms of which the jobs are evaluated (such as skill, mental effort, responsibility, physical effort, working conditions, etc.). Rank the selected jobs under each factor (by each and every member of the job evaluation committee) independently. Assign money value to each factor and determine the wage rates for each key job. The wage rate for a job is apportioned along the identified factors. All other jobs are compared with the list of key jobs and wage rates are determined.

Additionally, it would be important to ensure that one person can take the survey once. If the website saw that the same IP address re–entered the site, the survey would not be presented. A random assignment of participants to take the survey would also reduce the amount of repeat surveys. The researcher should determine beforehand how many positive responses from the survey would indicate an effective advertisement. Now that the experiment has a design established, it needs participants and a reporting structure (Cooper & Schindler, 2014). In order to not affect the entire population entering the site, the experiment could use a random assignment of participants for each survey Question 10.5 – Choosing a Survey Method Choosing a survey method requires comparing data needs against the advantages and disadvantages of the methods available in each situation (Cooper & Schindler, 2014). Personal interviews, telephone surveys, and self–administered questionnaires all have positives and negatives in the amount, style, and timeliness of information provided. Therefore, in order to obtain the needed data, the advantages and disadvantages of each method should be considered, such as in the examples to follow. Assessment of student learning Observation of student responses. Assessment of student posters – using key words of persuasion (from initial brainstorming session) Evaluation Some students did not grasp the concept of the poster as struggled to come up with reasons as to what in the poster persuades them to watch the movie. As a result spent more time on discussing the poster therefore students did not get enough time to complete their posters. Follow up lesson on persuasive posters. This artefact was utilised on my prac in April of 2015 with a Year 2 class. The lesson was an English lesson, covering the content of persuasive words and writing. My mentor informed me the students had previously worked on persuasive words and so I planned the lesson according to this. Students viewed the movie poster for Madagascar 3, which I chose based on their interests. I engaged the students in discussions about the target audience, text, colour, characters and how these all things contribute to persuade people to go and watch the movie. As a class we brainstormed key persuading words. Students were then asked to create their own persuasive poster about something they like and would like to persuade their peers to like. This ensured that the lesson catered for student diversity as they all have different interests and were encouraged to present them in their own creative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research methods are mainly use in decision making that guide the researchers to develop and test out their hypothesis to their study. Action research is a type of applied research that uses systemic approach to evaluate and observe countless solutions to a problem. Action research is most likely to be used in educational setting, where educators to find and use applicable information to solve and improve an issue in a collaborative setting (Creswell, 2005). Action research is unique since it can be done in collaboration with educators with similar goal and mind set. Action research uses mixed method study where it includes both qualitative and quantitative data. The usage of systemic approach along with scientific method it enables researchers to gather unbiased information during data gather and decision making. Action research is unlike most research method where it conducted in spiraling cycle. Action research study is done in four different stages; planning, acting, developing and reflecting. This method is done in a cyclical process unlike most linear studies. This method allows researchers to evaluate, observe and reflect that data until a plan is developed with an achievable goal that they have in place ( Mertler 2006). There are two types of action research design a practical one and a participatory one. A practical action research ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. What Hierarchy Of Evidence Is Used When Making Decisions... EBP Research Paper What hierarchy of evidence is used when making decisions about clinical interventions? (p. 114) There are many versions of the hierarchical evidence levels. When deciding on basing clinical interventions on evidence, there are two specific models to look at. They both describe levels of evidence and are depicted as pyramids. The first is the 6S model, with the "more patient–specific" information listed at the top of the pyramid (Houser, 2015). The top of the pyramid has the least amount of information as compared to the base, it is more relevant, but it yields the least amount of information (2015). Conversely, the more abundant information found at the bottom is less relevant to the specific intervention in question (2015). Also, the searches conducted at the more basic levels typically take less time to yield results due to the broader relationship to the intervention in question (2015). The 6S model of hierarchical pyramid of evidence are listed as follows from highest to lowest: Systems – this level includes "clinical decision support system (CDSS)". This level is ranked the highest because evidence is acquired from point–of–care databases that are linked to electronic medical records of specific patients (2015). Summaries – Evidence is taken from practice guidelines that were established by healthcare organizations and entered into the National Guidelines Clearinghouse databases. Summaries can be appraised rapidly because they are given a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are so many new teaching and learning practices involving blended and shared approaches (Litoiu, 2014). Professional development is no longer just a face–to–face experience. There are now virtual worlds and enhanced learning experiences that can increase an educators interactions with colleagues and create a more involved and exciting learning experience (Litoiu, 2014). It is therefore necessary for educators and other school professionals to obtain a number of new skills, to relearn previous skills, and to meet the new social and knowledge demands (Aspin, 2001). According to research and data collected by the National Center for Education Statistics (2006), it shows that in the 1999–2000 school year that 95 percent of the educators did take part in many different trainings and workshops. By 2008, 78 percent of teachers reported that although they felt they did more teaching in the classroom than learning themselves, that they did have a mentor teacher to help support them in the classroom (Honawar, 2008). Delivering Professional Development in Education In order for educators to master new skills, practices, and meet new expectations, educators must be able to work with colleagues in order to better understand and examine the new standards that are being proposed (Corcoran, 1995). The cut back in funding has caused the organization to look at possibly doing away with their consultation and education department. This paper will describe at least one process evaluation measure and at least one outcome evaluation measure that could be suggested for the Consultation and Education Department at Greenby Community Mental Health Center to display the program effectiveness and efficiency. (Reh, 2011)" Cost/benefit analysis is a possible suggestion because the Consultation and Education Department director can argue that the benefit of the program far outweighs the cost of the program. The Consultation and Education department draw clients in and a large majority of these clients go on to participate in the larger, more funding drawing, programs. So if the department is done away with, client numbers may decrease and other programs may suffer. "Outcomes evaluation is often described first by looking at its basic components. Outcomes evaluation looks at programs as systems that have inputs, activities/processes, outputs and outcomes –– this system's view is useful in examining any program! * Inputs – These are materials and resources that the program uses in its activities, or processes, to serve clients, equipment, staff, volunteers, facilities, money, etc. These are often easy to identify and many of the inputs seem common to many organizations and programs. * Activities – These are the activities, or processes, that the program undertakes with/to the client in order to meet the clients' needs, for example, teaching, counseling, sheltering, feeding, clothing, etc. Note that when identifying the activities in a program, the focus is still pretty much on the organization or program itself, and still is not so much on actual changes ...
