1. Evaluation of my final advert
How does your finished product compare to your design?
My final advert has completely changed from my initial concept and design.
My original design was a girl in a club on a crazy night out. The title was Krazy
Nights.
The colour scheme was black and golden but my final design is black golden
and red.
The block designs have as I have changed my mind and decided the block
deigns were not suitable for my advert.
My target audience is the same because I am still making my advert for late
teens/young adult girls as I think this is the most suitable for my product.
How has technology, (computer, digital, printer) helped you turn your
design into a real product?
Technology has played a big role in making my product come alive.
I was able to use photo shop and I learned how to create a full advert for my
perfume.
It had different elements and tools I could use to make my product look
effective. I used the magic wand tool to erase the background and unwanted
sections of the photo. I used the zoom tool to get the detail of my model’s face
perfect with no mistakes. The zoom tool helped me do that as I could see
what I was doing. The original image was colour but I decided to change it to
black and white because it allowed the perfume bottle to be centre of
attention. It fits with the concept of passion, desire and lust.
I was able to choose from a range of fonts and colours. The font for SHOCK is
edgy and bold. This again fits with my concept.
I was able to use a digital camera to take professional pictures and upload
these to the school network.
Do you feel that your product is suitable for your target audience?
I feel that my advert is aimed at my target audience as it is an exciting,
sensual scent.
I have deliberately chosen a young lady with two men because the image is
quite shocking it fits with my target audience of 18-25 year olds as people of
this age would want to emotionally and physically experiment.
2. Describe two challenges you have overcome?
The first challenge I had to overcome in this project is learning how to use
Photoshop which was vital in making my advert look realistic.
I learnt to add an image on top of another image and delete the background of
the top image that I did not want. I learnt how to change the colour of my
perfume bottle and place fonts in different places and on different layers.
The second challenge was learning how to analyse existing perfume adverts
and exploring the denotation and connotations. I learnt to use the correct
media terminology and how to analyse them in detail.
Describe the technical skills you have gained?
The technical skills I have gained are how to use the ‘Magic wand tool’, the
‘Hand tool’ and the ‘Zoom Tool’.
I have learnt to copy an image onto Photoshop which involves me opening a
new Photoshop document and copying it from there and enlarging it.
I also learned to use the lock button which made the image high definition.
Secondly, I learned how to rotate and arrange text in Photoshop and how to
write text in Photoshop by using the T button.
