1. Evaluation of my final magazine
How does your finished product compare to your design?
My final advert has slightly changed from my initial concept and design
because originally I was going to use different headlines instead of just about
Miley Cyrus. The colour scheme was very similar as I used red and white then
a dark background in order for the headlines and company name to stand out.
My block designs have moderately changed as I decided to have only one
image centred in the middle of the magazine instead of other images around
the edge like I initially decided. The target audience has stayed the same as it
is for young girls, this is why I used a young artist like Miley Cyrus.
How has technology, (computer, digital, printer) helped you turn your
design into a real product?
Technology has played quite a big role in how I managed to make my
magazine come alive. By having access to technology I was able to do make
my ideas become real, without the use of Photoshop it would have most likely
been inevitable to create my magazine. On Photoshop I learnt how to adjust
images by using different elements and tools on the side bar, like being able
change the colour of hair, eyes, lips and fonts this helped me make my product
look effective. I was able to use a digital camera to take professional pictures
and upload these to the school network. I also was able to print of different
questionnaires so I could get good results in order to make decisions judging
on what my target audience’s opinions was.
Do you feel that your product is suitable for your target audience?
I feel confident that my advert successfully fits the target audience I have
aimed it at as there is no obscene language or images. By using a young
artist (Miley Cyrus) as the front cover it attracts young teenagers to read and
buy the magazine therefore it is a good idea to use her to promote the
magazine. I also offered £1000 voucher in Hollister which is a very popular
high street shop in the younger generation right now.
Describe two challenges you have overcome?
One of the first challenges I had to overcome whilst creating my magazine
was learning how to use the different elements of Photoshop which was a key
part in making my magazine realistic. I learnt how to alter images so that they
look exactly how I want them too, for example I changed the colour of my
models skin, lips and other make up in order to make her look more attractive
and stand out. The second challenge I had to face was learning how to look at
different magazines and exploring the denotation and connotations. I also
2. learnt how to use the correct terms and how to analyse them in detail so I was
able to make a good judgement.
Describe the technical skills you have gained?
I have learnt many technical skills one of them being how to copy an image
onto Photoshop and also enlarging them to fit the page. I also learnt how to
use lock button which made the image in high definition. Lastly I gained the
skill of how to rotate and arrange text in Photoshop and also how to write and
change different font by using the T button.
