Evaluation of my final advert topic sentences magazine
1. Evaluation of my final magazine
How does your finished product compare to your design?
My final magazine has barely changed from my initial concept and design.
My original design was a girl interested in fashion, celebs and gossip on my
front cover.
The colour scheme was black and golden but my final design is black and red.
The block designs have also changed as I have changed my mind and
decided the block deigns were not suitable for my magazine.
My target audience is the same because I am still making my advert for
teenage girls as I think this is the most suitable for my magazine as they
would be mostly interested in the topics I talk about.
How has technology, (computer, digital, printer) helped you turn your
design into a real product?
Technology has played a big role in making my product come alive.
I was able to use photo shop and I learned how to create a full magazine
cover.
It had different elements and tools I could use to make my magazine look
effective. I used the magic wand tool to erase the background and unwanted
sections of the photo. I used the zoom tool to get the detail of my model’s face
perfect with no mistakes. The zoom tool helped me do that as I could see
what I was doing. The original image was black and white but I decided to
change it colour because it the model to be centre of attention. It fits with the
concept of gossip, fashion and celebs as I used a famous celebrity on my
cover.
I was able to choose from a range of fonts and colours. The font for
FASHFUSS is simple and bold. This again fits with my concept.
I was able to use a digital camera to take professional pictures and upload
these to the school network.
Do you feel that your magazine is suitable for your target audience?
I feel that my magazine is aimed at my target audience as it is an exciting,
fashionable magazine.
I have deliberately chosen to use a photo of Demi Lovato in a photoshoot
because the image is quite of a celebrity and therefore again fits with my
consept of fashion and celebrity gossip.
2. Describe two challenges you have overcome?
The first challenge I had to overcome in this project is learning how to use
Photoshop which was vital in making my magazine look realistic.
I learnt to add an image on top of another image and delete the background of
the top image that I did not want. I learnt how to change the colour of my
models facial features and place fonts in different places and on different
layers.
The second challenge was learning how to analyse existing magazines and
exploring the denotation and connotations. I learnt to use the correct media
terminology and how to analyse them in detail.
Describe the technical skills you have gained?
The technical skills I have gained are how to use the ‘Magic wand tool’, the
‘Hand tool’ and the ‘Zoom Tool’.
I have learnt to copy an image onto Photoshop which involves me opening a
new Photoshop document and copying it from there and enlarging it.
I also learned to use the lock button which made the image high definition.
Secondly, I learned how to rotate and arrange text in Photoshop and how to
write text in Photoshop by using the T button.
