From analyzing magazine covers, contents pages, and spreads, the document's author learned about important design principles for magazines. Front covers must attract attention and convey what the magazine offers. Contents pages provide overviews but don't need the same eye-catching qualities as covers. Spreads should feature large, engaging photos to draw readers in. Overall, the analysis informed the author's own music magazine concept by highlighting elements audiences want, such as appealing covers and interviews. Feedback from a focus group on the initial questionnaire further strengthened the magazine's design and content.

1. Evaluation of my questionnaire
From the front cover analysis I have learnt about the importance in the layout as the front cover is
the first thing the audience will see and one of the main things to make them buy it. Each magazine
has a different and unique magazine style, some make the cover all about the central image and
make it the front layer and covering the masthead (like rolling stones) however some make the
central image the back layer and make the masthead and other writing at the front. The magazine
‘Q’ the don’t have a traditional masthead, theirs is a logo to the left hand side, this makes the layout
different to the rest and not the same as others and making it look more interesting. From this I have
learnt that the front cover is very important to try and sell the magazine and it has to be eye pleasing
to the audience.
From the contents page analysis I have learnt that the colours and layout aren’t as bright and
obvious as the front page as they don’t need to stand out and be eye catching however the colour
scheme does flow through out. I have also learnt the importance of graphic features on the page,
they offer more to the audience as they can see what to expect in the magazine. This has helped me
understand about the things I need to include in my contents page for my magazine.
From the double page spread analysis I have learnt the importance of layout and making it eye
grabbing so people read the article and not skip past it. Most of them have the picture of the artist
one a whole page or half depending on the size of the article. The picture is big and eye grabbing
allowing the reader to know instantly who the article is about. From the research and analysis I now
know about certain aspects I have to include to make it eye catching for the reader fir example the
picture of the artist
Overall I am very happy with my questionnaire results as before the survey I didn’t have any idea on
what my target audience wanted from a music magazine. The results have helped me decide what I
want to include in my magazine, Things like they name and who to have on the cover. I have mainly
listened to my survey result when deciding on things to include in the magazine as they are my
target audience and I wanted to give them something they want and will enjoy.
From the focus group on my questionnaire I also learnt a lot. From this I got to find out another
opinion on things that I had decided and was able to get feedback back from this which helped me
understand about certain things.
