HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT
REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL
GROUPS?
QUESTION 2
We had to think carefully about who we would have starring in our film that would represent our
particular social group. So for our female protagonist we wanted her to be well dressed, fashionable
and nice make up, so that why we thought at the start of the film we would watch them get ready
and see there routine of how they got ready. By watching this, this could pick up on our social
group, stated earlier, right at the beginning of the film so people who aren’t into this will know that
this isn’t for them or it is for them straight away instead of wasting there time till half way though
the film. This picture below demonstrates what I am trying to explain, she is nicely dressed and
clearly has a good fashion sense, which the social group can relate to.
This picture shown on screen is what we used as our inspiration
for, Emma Stone has been in many movies such as ‘Easy A’ which
is all about your appearance and how her peers see her through
her looks. We thought this would be the perfect example as that
is what my female protagonist is about, her make up and how her
friends see her. She looks healthy and very confident within
herself, also she's a young attractive female actress who would
appeal to the male audience as well as the female. Its obvious
that she will be the female protagonist. We wanted her to be
confident so it would reflect on the social groups for them to be
confident within themselves.
Here you are presented with an image of Dylan O'Brian, he is exactly
what we want our social group to be. He's been in films such as ‘The
FirstTime’ and ‘The Maze Runner’, which are about romance and
physical activity. But in most of his films he's been in he's never been
an over confident person, this is the quality that we want our male
social group to be.When they watch our film product we want them
to think about themselves and make them feel as if they don’t need
certain things to succeed in life such as confidence. If we place them
together through parallel editing then they will automatically think
that will be together but that’s when she chuck in the twist.
