For their A Level controlled assessment, the student had to produce three digital media products - a music video and two print products. Throughout the project, they used various digital tools for planning, production, and post-production. These included SoundCloud and Google Drive for research and planning; digital cameras and video cameras to shoot footage; and Premiere Pro and Photoshop for editing the video and images. They also used presentation software like PowerPoint, Prezi, and Word to plan, present findings, and evaluate their work.

1. For our A Level controlled assessment, we had to produce three

Throughout the whole project, we used a mass variety of different
digital media to assist us with the whole of the project, from planning to
editing.
Pre-Production and Planning
Technology used How it assisted us
Soundcloud We used soundcloud to record
our research into existing products.
It gave us a chance to physically
voice our opinions.
Google Drive We used Google drive to create
our audience questionnaires, and
also used their tool to collate all
the findings for evidence.
Powerpoint & Slideshare We used PowerPoint to analyse all
of our findings from the audience
questionnaire, and present them
in a visual and informative way.
We also used PowerPoint for the
audience profile, the institutions
research, the recce, and layout
designs.
Prezi We used prezi for our risk
assessment, so that we could take
something that was essentially a
grid with health and safety
information in it, and turn it into a
visually interesting piece of work.
Word & Slideshare In the same way that we used
PowerPoint, we typed up our work
so that it was easy to read, and
also so we could find any specific
information quicker than having to
search through online software or
going through videos. This was
particularly important for the
storyboard.
Production

Digital Video Cameras We used the digital video

because it was a good chance
for us to demonstrate use of
professional equipment.
Digital Cameras (DSLR) The same as the Digital Video
Cameras, we liked the opportunity
to use professional equipment and
take better quality images than
you would do on a phone or a
more basic camera.
Post Production
Technology used How it assisted us
Premiere Pro We used premiere pro to edit the
whole of our video. Because we
weren’t very familiar with the
software, we had to watch
tutorials or get some assistance
with working with the software,
which we eventually began to
understand.
Adobe Photoshop We used Photoshop to edit the
images for our print products, and
completed all the design on the
same software.
iMac/Windows computers We alternated between different
computers depending on
preference. All edits however
were made on the same software,
so this was not affected by the
choice of computer used.
