During each stage of producing their music video, the document discusses how the group used various new media technologies for research, planning, and evaluation. They used sites like YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook to research existing music videos and gauge audience interest. They also used these sites to get feedback on different conventions. Their use of technology like mobile phones helped sync the singing to the music during filming. Adobe Premiere Pro allowed them to easily edit the video. Their use of technologies like blogs and Photoshop helped document and promote their work.

How did you use new media
technologies in the construction,
research, planning and evaluation
stages?

2. During each stage of our production piece, we used several types of technology to our full
advantage. The internet was the main device we used during the research and planning
stage. Sites such as YouTube, Twitter and Facebook enabled us to research into detail of
existing music videos, they also allowed is to get in to contact with our genre’s audience. I
believe the Twitter and Facebook pages helped us massively when it came to making a
decision on different conventions of the music video; we were able to find out exactly what
people wanted when watching a music video.
All of these sites were very helpful in finding out who was interested in different videos and
what they thought of them due to posting comments themselves. Without development in
recent technology and the use of Web 2.0, none of these facilities would have been available
to us so our research and evaluating our own video wouldn’t have been as successful.

we decided on the artist we were basing our project around -‘Ed Sheeran’. These were

4. When filming our music video, we wanted to
ensure that the singing was going to be in
sync with the song. To make sure this
would happen we played the song from
our mobile phone and got the artist to play
and sing along according to the music.
Without recent technology this would have not
been able to happen and our video may
have not synced as well as it did. This is an
example of technological convergence
To the right you can see a print screen of the
editing programme we used: Adobe Premiere
Pro. This a modern way of editing footage, and
by the advancements within technology we
were able to edit the video pretty much
however we wanted. This was also the
programme I wanted to improve on at the
beginning of my project, I believe I was able to
do this down to the information researched on
Google ‘step by step’ and the teaching I
received in college.

5. One of the main new media technology that benefitted
our project is ‘blogger’. Blog spot enabled us to upload
our work as a record of the process/steps we have taken
from the first day of our project. This is an easy way to
present our work to the public in a very neat way for
people to read and understand. I believe that as the use
of internet is forever growing and by uploading it onto
hear instead of just writing it down in a book promotes
the production piece even more.
An SLR camera was used
when taking pictures for our
location research and
ancillary task. To edit these
images we used a software
called ‘Photoshop’ another
new media technology
programme that we highly
benefitted from.
