What kind of media
institution might distribute
your media product and why?
Who would distribute our film?
 Our Film would not be distributed
by big named distributors such as
Warner brothers, 2oth century fox
and paramount.
 Because our film fits more into an
independent film, which would
mean we would film in a
studio, most of the filming would
be on location which is what we did
whilst filming our opening.
 We also would not have stars, the
actors would mostly be new/unknown
actors.
Role of the distributor
 Distributors have two main roles to
play, Establishing the audience and marketing to the
exhibitors.
 They most market the film in as many ways as
possible. The internet (YouTube, Twitter, IMDB)
Posters (Newspapers) Merchandise (T-shirts, toys)
public transport (Adshel, Side of buses, billboards)
and TV (Trailers, interviews, music videos)
Independent or Blockbuster
 I tried to compare our opening to a
blockbuster but couldn't find one
similar, however I found this independent
by Malik Bader called “Crush” a thriller
focused on a stalker.
 I did more research on this film and found
that it was distributed by about 6
distributors, FilmNation Entertainment
being one. However non were US or British
companies even though it is the language of
the film.
When and Where?
 I believe that our thriller would be released in the
summer, even though it is not a hug Hollywood
blockbuster our target audience is 15 to early 20’s
which means they would be on holiday and would
have time to see it
 Because our film is an independent the places it
would most likely be shown would be Curzon
cinema, small ones in nice area’s such Richmond.
 Or our film could go straight to the TV or DVD
