What I learned in the progression of my preliminary task to my final
product.
In the progression of my preliminary task to my final film I learned how to film in a more
professional way and how many different shot types can be used in just a 2 minute clip. I
also learned how to edit successfully and professionally.
When I made my preliminary task I did it in my lesson which made the location and
equipment I had to film very restricting. My time was also restricted as I had a 40 minute
lesson. However, this made me realise the possibility of how much of a variety of
locations and shot types I could use in my film even though it had to be the same length
as the preliminary (2 minutes). Because of how long I had to film I was able to do a lot
more with my film opening and it meant that I could go to a lot more locations which
suited the romantic genre.
I also used a variety of shot types in my preliminary task which made it a lot easier to put
them into practice when I made my final film because I knew how the tripod and other
equipment worked and what position I would need it all in for a long shot, mid shot, close
up ect.
The preliminary task also made me realise how much you can show in just two minutes.
In my final film I had to show characters personalities and make the storyline and genre
clear to the audience, doing the preliminary task made this a lot easier and made me
progress in how much I included in the first 2 minutes of my film.
