A person assessing risks in a nursing home or daycare should consider how likely a hazard is to cause harm, how serious that harm could be, and how many workers are exposed. It is important to document all risk assessments. Hazards and risks should be controlled through elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, or personal protective equipment with PPE as a last resort. Proper maintenance and safe usage of electrical equipment can help prevent electrical hazards.

Tredegar Park All Age Information Technology Class Lesson 1. This presentation describes proper methods of maintaining computer hardware. Ergonomics is briefly discussed.
Overall Safety of plants and Personals, it's really important to know about the safety precautions before you start to do any thing in the operation side. Particularly in the Process Industries or where there lot of reasons of risk.

In patient safety, critical thinking is an ongoing process.Standards have been developed by American Nurses Association and The Joint Commission.Use of the nursing process when planning care promotes safety.
SAFETY AND INFECTION CONTROL
Safety in Health Care Organizations
A Safe EnvironmentIncludes meeting patients’ physical and psychosocial needsApplies to all places where patients receive careIncludes patients’ and health care providers’ well-beingReduces risk of injury and transmission of pathogensMaintains sanitation and reduces pollution

Fire SafetyKeep open spaces (e.g., hallways) free of clutter.Make sure fire exits are clearly marked.Know the locations of all fire alarms, exits, and extinguishers.Know the telephone number for reporting fires.Know the agency’s fire drill and evacuation plans.Never use the elevator in the event of a fire.Turn off oxygen and appliances in the vicinity of a fire.In the event of fire, maintain the respiratory status of a client on life support manually with the use of an Ambu-bag (resuscitation bag) until the client can be moved away from the fire.Use the RACE mnemonic to set priorities in the event of a fire.Use the PASS mnemonic to remember how to use a fire extinguisher.
Evacuation Procedures
Ambulatory clients may be directed to walk on their own to a safe area and may be able to help move clients in wheelchairs.Bedridden clients are generally moved from the scene of a fire on stretchers, in their beds, or in wheelchairs.Appropriate transfer techniques must be used to carry a client from the area of a fire.Fire department personnel at the scene of a fire can help evacuate clients.
Safety - The Primary concern when caring for clients
All employees need to know:
the institution's fire evacuation routine
the location of fire alarms
the location of fire extinguishers
how to use the fire extinguisher
the location of fire exits
The "hang tag“ (ON FIRE EXTINGUISHERS) should be checked for date of last inspection (usually annually)
List the phone number for reporting fires close to all phones in the facility
facility rescue plans:
FIRE SAFETY
FIRE EXTNGUISHERS
The most common water extinguishers are suitable for class A fires only. Never use water to extinguish class C fires due to the risk of electrical shock.
Dry chemical extinguishers come in a variety of types and are suitable for a combination of class A, B, and C fires (liquids and electrical fires)
filled with foam or powder and pressurized with nitrogen
may leave a harmful residue that reduces the likelihood of re-ignition
Carbon dio.
3. A person who identifies the risk of harm or
injury from a hazard in a nursing home or
daycare should consider these questions:
1. how likely it is that a hazard will cause
harm ;
2. how serious that harm is likely to be;
3. how often(how many) workers are exposed
4. It is a must that you have a record of every risk
assessment done. Assessing or evaluating the
hazards and risks is crucial in making decision
on the mode of control to be used.
5. CONTROL HAZARDS AND RISKS
Eliminating – to remove it completely
Substitution- to replace or substitute a
hazardous agent or work process with a less
dangerous one
Engineering Control- changing a piece of
machinery or a work process to reduce
exposure to a hazard.
6. Administrative control- working a limited
number of hours in a hazardous area
Personal Protective Equipment it includes the
ear and eye protection , respirators and
protective clothing
9. A Closer Look at Electricity
Ensure that all electrical equipment you use is in
good condition.
Check the electrical cords and make sure they are
not frayed.
Hands should be dry before attempting to use any
electrical to use any electrical equipment
Do not attempt to change fuses unless you know
what you are doing
Do not turn on all appliances at the same time just
because you want to save time.
10. Use of Personal Protective Equipment
Wear gown that is long enough to cover your
clothing. A caregiver should wear a clean
gown in every client care. In case gown is not
available , apron should be worn to mask
clothing during client contact.
