When creating my preliminary task (front cover and contents of college mag) it
didn't take much knowledge to use the hardware and software, because I only
created simplistic documents that only needed basic skills such as inserting
shapes and text.

Research- From doing product research I learnt the forms and conventions of successful
magazines, such as how they are laid out, what's included in the contents of the
magazines, and how to draw in the appropriate target audience.
I also learnt how to distinguish different characteristics of target audiences , I did this by
doing interviews and creating reader profiles.
I learnt how to create a survey with relevant questions that would produce results that would
be useful in creating my magazine, and how to use social media appropriately to find
people to do my survey.

Planning- I learnt how to analyse my survey results to get relevant information that
will be helpful in creating my music magazine, such as what my target audience are
interested in, what price they would be willing to pay for a magazine and what genre
of music they are most interested in.
I learnt how to piece together the personality and characteristics of my target
audience and create reader profiles, this led me to be able to make a successful style
sheet for my magazine. Creating an appropriate style sheet meant that my magazine
could have a layout and colour scheme that would attract the target audience.
Photography plans – from doing my photography plans it meant that I learnt how to
set up the composition of my photos to convey exactly what I wanted to.

Production – From creating my magazine, I learnt how to use a studio and the lighting
affectively to create successful pictures.
When creating my front cover I learnt how to put my knowledge of the forms and
conventions of a music magazine into practise to create a successful magazine.
This consisted of things such as creating aesthetically pleasing mastheads, laying out
the magazine in a conventional way and having interesting cover lines.
