HP drupa news executive presentation: Reinvent your possibilities at drupa 2016HP
At drupa 2016, we introduced a range of digital printing solutions designed to empower print service providers (PSPs) to reinvent their possibilities. With the largest exhibit space at the show (spanning the size of a football field in Hall 17), we will feature more than 50 digital printing solutions from across our portfolio highlighting the innovation, speed, performance and power of digital printing. We unveiled the new HP PageWide C500 Press, a flexible and robust industrial post-print corrugated solution powered by proven HP PageWide technology, and showcased the new HP Indigo Digital Combination Press, enabling HP Indigo print and digital embellishments in a single pass. HP is redefining the role of printing with digital innovations that change the economics of the graphics industry. We have breakthroughs at drupa that aim to surprise, delight and inspire print providers with the possibilities enabled by print.

Why networking organizations are so valuable in patent information - together we are strong
Monika Hanelt (Agfa Graphics, Belgium)
During this talk it will outlined why the patent information community needs networking organizations - national working groups as well as multinational organizations as PDG and Cepiug here in Europe. The Patent Documentation Group (PDG) is one of the oldest organization in this field and the patent information communtiy owes a lot to PDG and their working groups. Progress regarding data availability and quality due to this organization will be examplified. In recent years the networking of patent offices extended the range of patent information and improved the quality of data as well. A look on actual and future challenges will conclude.

A recent study commissioned by the EPO on the involvement of (patent) information in the innovation process in industry underlines the role of patent information in the various innovation stages. This result gives further impetus to the EPO's patent information strategy, aimed at supporting the economy by providing the access to a wealth of patent-related information, be it from its own patent granting process or its collection of worldwide bibliographic, legal status, procedural and full-text data.
In the presentation we highlight some key findings of the study and give an overview of the EPO’s patent information products and services. We will discuss how they can be used for technology-specific searches, for getting insight into the legal and procedural status of an application during and after its grant procedure, and for the statistical analysis of bulk data for business intelligence purposes. The talk covers the EPO’s free-of-charge Espacenet as well as our flagship product PATSTAT, both with a worldwide coverage. It also highlights the ever-improving European Patent Register and its accompanying services as well as our RESTful Open Patent Services.

Up the Ratios Bylaws - a Comprehensive Process of Our Organizationuptheratios
Up the Ratios is a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap in STEM education for underprivileged students by providing free, high-quality learning opportunities in robotics and other STEM fields. Our mission is to empower the next generation of innovators, thinkers, and problem-solvers by offering a range of educational programs that foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
At Up the Ratios, we believe that every student, regardless of their socio-economic background, should have access to the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in today's technology-driven world. To achieve this, we host a variety of free classes, workshops, summer camps, and live lectures tailored to students from underserved communities. Our programs are designed to be engaging and hands-on, allowing students to explore the exciting world of robotics and STEM through practical, real-world applications.
Our free classes cover fundamental concepts in robotics, coding, and engineering, providing students with a strong foundation in these critical areas. Through our interactive workshops, students can dive deeper into specific topics, working on projects that challenge them to apply what they've learned and think creatively. Our summer camps offer an immersive experience where students can collaborate on larger projects, develop their teamwork skills, and gain confidence in their abilities.
In addition to our local programs, Up the Ratios is committed to making a global impact. We take donations of new and gently used robotics parts, which we then distribute to students and educational institutions in other countries. These donations help ensure that young learners worldwide have the resources they need to explore and excel in STEM fields. By supporting education in this way, we aim to nurture a global community of future leaders and innovators.
Our live lectures feature guest speakers from various STEM disciplines, including engineers, scientists, and industry professionals who share their knowledge and experiences with our students. These lectures provide valuable insights into potential career paths and inspire students to pursue their passions in STEM.
Up the Ratios relies on the generosity of donors and volunteers to continue our work. Contributions of time, expertise, and financial support are crucial to sustaining our programs and expanding our reach. Whether you're an individual passionate about education, a professional in the STEM field, or a company looking to give back to the community, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.
We are proud of the positive impact we've had on the lives of countless students, many of whom have gone on to pursue higher education and careers in STEM. By providing these young minds with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed, we are not only changing their futures but also contributing to the advancement of technology and innovation on a broader scale.

Registry of AV Orphan Works
Brief introduction how FHI deal with IPR and ORPHAN WORKS in FORWARD
According to results of the survey: 31 % of collections unknown rights, 21% were cosidered Orphan Works
This is an example from Cinematheque royale de Belgique, published in the European Film Gateway:
Research in the AV and Film Sector is complex
PARTIALLY ORPHAN ; NOT ORPHAN
Find another word for difficult:
This poster shows how Dutch copyright legislation is translated into different search steps to find out if the film is protected or not:
You can use the orphan work if you are public mission AV archive, and if the work is from your collection
Before, they must carry out a diligent search through information sources that are defined in national OW legislation
Yiou can use it for preservation and online (but not in your cinemas, on TV, not in exhibitions. If ist orphan in one MS it is recognoized orphan in all Ms
The FORWARD system also must take into consideration the national legislations on EU Orphan Works. This map shows Member States that have implemented the OWD.
Ok in a sense that checking these sources makes sense. Even if it doesn‘t make sense, you have to, because it‘s in the law.
Step 1: You enter the flm title (you should know the production country)
Step 2: Copyright status assessment process (COSAP): adapted to national legislations
Step 3: If the work is not PD, you go to step three: Assisted diligent search process (ADISP): according to the Member States’ Diligent Search Rules (MS-DSR) S
2 subsystem:
The workflow sub-system has all the functionalities to perform diligent searches, CoSAP (copyright status assessment process) and ADiSP (assisted diligent search process) processing and all necessary mechanisms involved such as querying external sources, managing manual intervention, etc. In addition, it provides a graphical user interface that allows the beneficiary user to interact with the system, not only to assist user during the workflow but also for account management. Its main goal is to populate the RII database with all the results of the diligent searches keeping track of all relevant information that provide documentary evidence of the assessments.
The catalogue sub-system represents a component to support the diligent search: it actually provides input data. It collects work and party data and provides functionalities such as data management, searching, indexing. It doesn’t provide any graphical user interface but it exposes its data and functionality via an API instead. Data have to be imported in the catalogue using a common format defined among FHIs and mapped into the new repository. Once the processing of all the works is completed, the same format must be used to export back the catalogues. Taking into considerations the D3.2 requirements, it will be possible to export the results of CoSAP and a ADiSP and its conclusion.
Bulk uploads from FORWARD to OHIM = OW Databse for all kind of orphan works..
