Reinforcing resilience and self-reliance of communities in degrowth: The case...NeaGuinea
The case study of the renewable energy workshop of the 'Nea Guinea' non-profit organization in Athens, Greece, is presented an example of how communities can practice paths towards degrowth though open source renewable energy technologies, convivial and experimental ways of learning and thus providing more resilient futures for the social networks in which they participate. The main themes discussed are the ideas of open knowledge commons, community-driven design with internet collaboration and open design approaches for local manufacturing, while the concepts of resilience and self-reliance are introduced for emerging rural communities in degrowth.
This table lists some details of publicly funded projects at each of the KAPTUR partner institutions. The information is already publicly available, but was brought together at a project team meeting in July to inform ongoing discussion about visual arts research data.

Webinar: Decarboni.se – building a climate change solution web platform Global CCS Institute
This webinar provided an overview on the recently launched Decarboni.se knowledge sharing platform. Decarboni.se aims to be the best place for people to learn from over 400 organisations working to decarbonise the economy. On Decarboni.se you’ll find quality information and detailed descriptions of techniques and lessons learnt from experts around the world. This webinar presented why Decarboni.se was built, how you can use it and how it improves the knowledge sharing process for clean energy. We also presented how we’re reaching out to people (including those outside the CCS community) to tell them about the approach and get them involved in the knowledge sharing process.
This webinar was presented by Sean McClowry, General Manager - Information Management and Brian Houston, Community Manager from the Global CCS Institute.
At this online web conference, the Europeana Aggregators’ Forum will open their virtual doors to cultural heritage professionals and anyone with an interest in high quality, open cultural heritage content.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

Call to Action - New European Bauhaus
29.
30. The New European Bauhaus brings a cultural and creative dimension to the
European Green Deal, aiming to demonstrate how sustainable innovation
offers tangible, positive experiences in our daily life.
Climate change and environmental degradation are an
existential threat to Europe and the world.
To overcome these challenges, the European Green Deal will
transform the EU into a modern, resource-efficient and
competitive economy, ensuring:
• no net emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050
• economic growth decoupled from resource use
• no person and no place left behind
34. The Salt House by Brigita Bula, Latvia
Sustainable
This 240m2, one-storey building is set in a
seaside meadow as a simple, narrow,
elongated volume that draws a thin
sea-wave-like line in the surrounding
undulating landscape, leaving as small an
imprint in the existing biotope as
possible.
Pāvilosta has a temperate climate & strong
wind, so the building was constructed with
thick, monolithic, lime-plastered blocks - a
material sourced locally.
The cross-section of the one-story
structure was inspired by traditional
fishermen's houses prevalent in the area.
The heating system uses only local
renewable sources - a combination of a
heat pump & a wood heating system.
37. Marcel Breuer helped to create designs
that would fight future outbreaks. After a
significant outbreak of tuberculosis in
1882, and after the Spanish flu pandemic
of 1918, there was need for new
Minimalist furnishing that could be easily
cleaned and used.
With these goals in mind, Breuer helped
create Minimalist pieces using hygienic
wood and tubular steel.
Before this period, overstuffed furniture
was popular, but it was found to hold
bacteria. To combat that problem, these
new Minimalist styles used aimed to use
less fabrics.
Wassily Chair, B3, design By Marcel Breuer at
Bauhaus School
38. Just as the 1918 flu pandemic
was an inescapable part of the
zeitgeist of the time, the
coronavirus pandemic has
already become the zeitgeist
of our time
44. Priority #3: Build capacity
The Europeana Initiative will support institutions in their digital transformation.
It will showcase the importance and added value of digitisation, adoption of
standards, best practice and common solutions.
47. Planning
Climate impact should inform all stages and elements of our work.
We will:
Embed eco-thinking. We will ‘think climate’ from high-level
strategy setting, to yearly roadmaps and individual planning
cycles.
Set standards for managing resources. We will ensure our supply
chains are as ecologically responsible as possible.
Benchmark and measure our progress. We will carry out
sustainability audits and impact assessments so that we can
reduce our carbon footprint in targeted areas.
48. Collaborating
Collective action is essential. We will:
Learn together. We will progress further and faster if we work
together, collaborating with experts, organisations and networks
who are similarly committed and who may be further along this
journey than we are.
Harness our networks. The expertise and experience of the
professionals and organisations in our networks are integral to
our ability to address the complexities of climate change in our
sector. Together, we will work towards common solutions,
standards and frameworks for climate-responsible practices for
digital culture.
Share what we learn. Sharing good practices and the challenges
we encounter can empower further change at professional and
organisational level. We want our learnings to be helpful for
others to use or adapt for their own settings. So, Europeana’s
climate actions will be transparent and made available through,
for example, easy-to-access guides or working documents.
49. Operating
Small changes contribute to a big impact. We will:
Make systematic changes. The development of a climate
action strategy will be an important tool to help us to
exercise material and digital minimalism in all our operations.
Meet sustainably. When we convene either physically or digitally,
we will minimise the damage we do, from considering the impacts
of travel and catering, to the green credentials of the
conferencing software we use.
Clean up our digital practices. Every individual can make a
difference so we will educate ourselves to clean up our personal
digital practices.
50. Advocating
Change doesn’t end with us. We will:
Lead by example. We will raise awareness of climate issues
related to digital cultural heritage and highlight
environmentally-friendly practices on both individual and
organisation levels.
Provide support. We will help our members and peers, partner
and contributing organisations, to develop their own capacity for
making sustainable change, through sharing tools and case
studies and providing opportunities for learning and discussion.

Commitment
Only by leading by example through this kind of
determined and supportive action can we seek out
and confirm ecologically responsible ways, provide
support for our community and in doing so ensure
the future of our children.
