European History Essay Topics
Writing an essay on the topic of "European History Essay Topics" can be quite challenging due
to the vast and complex nature of European history. The continent has a rich and diverse history
spanning thousands of years, encompassing various cultures, civilizations, and events. Narrowing
down the focus to a specific topic within European history requires careful consideration and
research.
One of the difficulties lies in selecting a unique and interesting angle to explore within the
broader scope of European history. With countless historical events, figures, and periods to
choose from, it can be daunting to decide on a specific topic that not only captures the reader's
attention but also allows for in-depth analysis.
Additionally, the research process can be time-consuming, as one must delve into numerous
historical sources, scholarly articles, and primary documents to gather relevant information.
Distilling this vast amount of information into a coherent and well-structured essay requires
critical thinking and analytical skills.
Furthermore, the need to present a nuanced and balanced perspective adds another layer of
complexity. European history is often marked by controversies, conflicting interpretations, and
differing viewpoints. Crafting an essay that acknowledges and addresses these complexities
while maintaining clarity and coherence is no small feat.
Moreover, maintaining a chronological or thematic organization while avoiding an overwhelming
amount of detail is crucial. Striking the right balance between providing enough historical
context and delivering a compelling argument can be challenging.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "European History Essay Topics" demands careful
topic selection, extensive research, critical analysis, and effective organization. It is a task that
requires dedication, time, and a deep understanding of the complexities inherent in European
history.

Target Market, Segmentation and Positioning of McDonald s
McDonald s is a fast food giant and is one of the best known burger chains in the
world. McDonald s builds its brand equity by listening to its customers and
continually adjusting its communication and marketing methods. Because McDonald
s faces stiff competition around the world from other fast food chains it must

local restaurants in Texas have been refitted with the latest in dГ©cor, and
technology. Comfortable seating makes it easy to relax. Technology provides for
WIFI access so that customers can access the Internet. Flat screen televisions on
the wall provide entertainment in the form of live local events, whether it is
sports, the arts, or a news cast. Behavioral segmentation is associated with special
occasions like kids birthday parties. Local youth groups and sports team come to
McDonald s not only for the cheap prices, but also for the ease of accommodation.
A McDonald s can hold many people and caters to the younger crowds. Their menu

The Role Of Serfs In Medieval Times
The medieval time period survived on a system that provided order and good
military, this system was called Feudalism. Serfs had a major role in the medieval
time period, they were the ones, along with the freemen, who did the hard work in
the manor, not only for themselves to survive on, but for the whole manor, the lord,
and the king. Feudalismwas a type of government, it was created not for fairness,
but for organization. Without serfs, the feudal system would deteriorate, therefore,
there needed to be a specific role for labor, or no drudgery would ever be done.
Feudalism brought many things to everyone in this time period, some people got
more freedom than others, some worked harder than others, everyone had a role, they
may be treated differently for the role, but they all matter.
Serfs played a major role in a medieval manor. Serfs did most of the work in this time
period. In the beginning of the 1100 s, serfs were used for farming and they were
able to farm more land, because there was an increase in improved farming tools
(Cels 8). 90% of the population of serfs, participated in farming, the other 10%
would produce goods or perform other types of labor (Hunt 18). If you were a serf,
you had many requirements and expectations. Serfs had to work ... Show more

The feudal system would simply not survive off of the work from the freemen,
there needed to be serfs, people to be bound to the land, to work for simple pay, to
provide for the manor. The feudal government, was a way of life, it kept order to a
medieval manor, but it also had an absence of fairness. Serfs were the lowest class
in the feudal system, they were bound to the land, and couldn t do anything about
it. The Middle Ages, was a time of order, people in classes, from king, to serfs, who
were bound to the land, where they were then forced to work, providing for the

CONSUMERS WILLINGNESS TO PAY MORE FOR GREEN PRODUCTS
I.INTRODUCTION 1.1. Research Background Nowadays, people have become
more aware of their environment. They try to slow down the process of global
warming in many different ways. One of the efforts to slow down the process of
global warming is that now people try to create, produce, and market the
environmental friendly products or, also known as, green products. People who pay
attention to green products are called green consumers. According to Rodriguez and

and are willing to pay a premium for products manufactured in environmental friendly

A Research About Conflict And Conflicts
Abstract This is a research about conflict which should be considered and resolute
during a project. Although, six experts are from different background, there are
many sufficient methods to deal with different kind of issues during the working.
The great mode has used in the research is Thomas Kilmann s conflict mode
instrument. (Thomas, K. W., Kilmann, R. H. ,1974). There are five effective
approaches are discussed. Each approaches have its positive and negative effects.
Also, there are many problems that each expert should consider about themselves
which can devote their effort to help finish the project successfully. Achieving
mastery through a comprehensive study of all of these methods can finally bring a
huge success to the whole project. Conflicts Research Conflicts and Conflicts
Resolutions During Project It is hard and impossible to eliminate conflicts when
processing a team project. In the discussion problem 2, it tells us to solve a
problem of developing experts from different places to into a real and complete
team. People from different backgrounds and diverse places always have different
values, perceptions, expectations, needs and resources. Also, different people must
have various personalities. Therefore, a good manager should know and tolerant
everything happened in the project and keep seeking probable methods to deal with
every detailed conflicts. Perfect resolution of complex conflicts can help team

Cirrhosis Synthesis
Past literature define cirrhosis as a non reversible end result of liver disease,
however recent studies have shown it s a dynamic process. If K.D stops his alcohol
intake, he will reduce the acetaldehyde and acetate in his body which is the main
causes of cell and tissue damage. The mechanism of tissue reversal takes place by
blocking the formation of excessive acetaldehyde in the mitochondria. In the absence
of excessive alcoholin the cells, only the primary alcohol oxidative metabolic
pathway takes place. Alcohol is metabolized to acetaldehyde by the cytosolic enzyme
alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH). Due to the ADH s high affinity and low capacity,
saturation occurs very quickly. If the patient consumes excessive alcohol, the body
has to start

Essay on The Transcontinental Railroad And Westward...
The Transcontinental Railroad and Westward Expansion
Thesis: The transcontinental railroad greatly increased Westward expansion in the
United States of America during the latter half of the nineteenth century.
The history of the United States has been influenced by England in many ways.
In the second half of the 1800 s, the railroad, which was invented in England, had a
major effect on Western expansion in the United States.
quot;Railroads were born in England, a country with dense populations, short
distances between cities, and large financial resources. In America there were
different circumstances, a sparse population in a huge country, large stretches
between cities, and only the smallest amounts of
money. quot; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Romantics dreamed of the discoveries of wild Indians, scouts and hunters, and, of
course, gold. Gold had been a desired find throughout the exploration of America.
The California Gold Rush of 1849 again created much excitement about the search for
gold.
The Pacific Railroads were founded when the Civil War was in progress. Until the
war was over, the transcontinental railroad was a giant enterprise stalled by much
bickering between a reluctant Congress and the Army, who had clamored for it
(Cooke 254). If it had been left to the government, it would have taken another twenty
years to complete the transcontinental railroad. However, it was a commercial
venture, and it was fortunately fed by the adrenaline of competition. There were two
railroad companies building the transcontinental railroad, the Union Pacific from the
East, and the Central Pacific from the West.
The two companies struggled to beat each other in slamming down a record mileage
of track. At first, Congress avidly pursued the project and they had stipulated that the
Central Pacific should stop when it reached the California Border
(Congress was full of Easterners). In 1865, after much argument about the aid the
government was providing to the two companies, the actual construction of the
transcontinental railroad was started. Then in 1866, Congress decided that two
companies
Comparing The Greek Mythology And The Cherokee
Every culture has its own past belief on how everything was created; Gods, lands,
plants, animals, creatures, and humans all have a unique story to be told throughout
the ages. But it is plain to see there is some overlap between ideas on how
everything was made. Take the Greek Mythology, the most popular and well known
type of mythos, has connections to other cultures like Nordic and Native American.
But of course, each story has their own twist or other idea to it, as well.
There are quite a few similarities between the Greeks stories of creation and the
Cherokee. In both stories, before anything could be created, water had been
everywhere, and surrounded in darkness. It was void like and wild, primitive almost.
Another similarity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the Greeks, the Grecian Gods, rather than animals, helped make Earth more
habitable for humans by getting rid of the creatures Earth birthed. Finally, the
personified beings in both stories were different. The animals were personified and
giving character as they were the ones that helped create Earth, while the Greeks
made planets personified.
The next comparison between two stories is that of Norse mythology and Greek
mythology. Both stories have very similar ideas and ways of telling their stories of
how their world came into being. Norse has their giants, who gave birth to the
original three gods that created Midgard. The Greeks have the Titans who bore the
Greek gods who overthrew them as well to control the Earth. Both myths contain
the presence of creatures in their stories, beasts who helped shape their respective
worlds to move the culture s creation stories further along. Creatures within these
worlds would be the dwarves, the serpent Nidhogg, and demons of Norse myth and
the Cyclopes, the furies, and Typhon of Greek origin Furthermore, the children of
some of these creatures were divines, who ended up overthrowing their elders to
lead the creation of their own worlds, to rule over their own creations as well. And
speaking of the world, both myths have multiple layers to their

Speech On Freedom Of Speech
Paying attention to public discourse, one can see this happen many times. Someone
says and or in some other way expresses something objectionable or controversial,
which draws a significant amount criticism toward them. Then they or someone
defending them will cry freedom of speech, in a bid to defend it. And this is a bad
thing for the culture of our public discourse.
Now before anyone makes the mistake of misunderstanding this, I am not attacking
freedom of speech, I am criticizing people who draw up claims of free speech,
where it is irrelevant to the matters at hand, and use such claims as a way of trying
to deflect criticism. Because those types of misused claims can harm and erode the
public discourse.
It is important to understand when a claim of free speech is relevant to a
discussion is relevant and when it is not. It is relevant when freedom of speech is in
contest, and if it isn t then it s not relevant. If the government was trying to legally
ban protected speech, or trying to punish someone merely for speaking, or if
someone was harassing someone personally, or using violence, or other unwarranted
actions to silence someone or punish them for speaking, then claims of free speech
are relevant. But if that isn t happening, if people are merely criticizing what someone
said or otherwise expressed, and treating them in manners fitting to accountability in
public discourse, then claims of freedom of speech are not relevant.
Yet you will find people who in those instances of public discourse, where people
will cry free speech, where there is no evidence that anyone ever challenged that
they or the person they are defending had the liberty to say or express what they
did, and try to use free speech as if that alone justifies it and can deflect criticism.
Just because someone has the liberty to say or express something, does not mean
that what they said or expressed was justified in itself. Criticizing what someone
else says is not an attack on freedom of speech. Saying that what someone said was
wrong, or that they shouldn t have said it, or trying to convince them that they should
cease doing it, is not attack on freedom of speech. Because there is a difference
between whether someone can say

Pros And Cons Of Batman And Superman
Batman and Superman are DC s most valuable super heroes. They fight crime, help
those in need, and protect their cities. Truly that is hero, someone we should look up
to. Or is it? Today I was tasked with deciding whether or not, Batman and Superman
do more harm than good as role models and cultural icons. I have come to the
conclusion that they do more harm than good. It s important to note that I will be
basing most of my information on the Supermanand Batmanmovie. I have 3 main
reasons why I believe this, 1 they are not relatable, 2 they solve their problems
through violence, and 3 they are very dark. Let s begin with point one.
The first reason why I agree with the statement, As role models and cultural icons,
Batman and Superman do more harm than good. Is because of how unrelatable
they are to people. Starting with Superman, he is an alien from a different world.
He has powers that no one on earth can attain, unbreakable skin, laser eyes, the
ability to fly by himself, and X ray vision (Superman s). No one can relate to any of
those powers (Superman). Meanwhile, Batman is an orphan, who has billions of
dollars. Some people can relate with the loss of a loved one but very, very few have
access to even a million dollars. We look at them and see something that we can
never be. Batman and Superman are role models and cultural icons that do more harm
than good.
The second reason why Batman and Superman as role models and cultural icons do
more harm than good is because they solve the majority of their problems through
violence. Dr. Sharon Lamb states, Today s superherois too much like an action hero
who participates in non stop violence...rarely speaks to the virtue of doing good for
humanity, (Chivers). She is 100% correct in this. In the 2013 movie, Man of Steel,
our hero flies about destroying the city he swore to protect. Buildings fall, lives are
taken, and superman brings up no mention of any virtue by the end of the film. He
uses violence. This continues on in basically every show that includes him. Bad guy
shows up, does a bad thing, and Superman flies over, beats up the villain and wins
the day. Now we examine Batman. He does the exact same thing, gliding around his
city beating up crime and
The Problem Of Invading Privacy
On a small scale, the concept can be referred to as a focus group. The agency
executives taking their seats behind the one way blackboard, prepared to gain
information as their puppets reward the participants with a few dollars or an
appreciative sentiment. This situation is echoed within the makeup of our online
society, as we are given small benefits and social reasons to allow access to our
information, while the governmenttakes in as much data as they can to monitor
people and hold them down by their own vices. Through this, the government,
commonly referred to as Big Brother , controls citizens and while many express that
the Internet is a battleground for privacy, the war zone is actually a fabricated idea
that the government makes people believe through the allocation of these societal
prizes and the bailout excuse of defending them against terrorism.
Big Brother claims to be helping people by protecting them, but that is only used as
an excuse to keep an eye on everyone. It is clearly a problem of invading privacy,
because as Neil M. Richards states, Although we have laws that protect us against
government surveillance, secret government programs cannot be challenged until
they are discovered. And even when they are, our law of surveillance provides only
minimal protections (
934). The FBI and the government continue to defend the watch of their people by
claiming it is a defense against outside threats. At first glance this is a commendable
objective, but it is
Roger Rosenblatt s The Man In The Water
Roger Rosenblatt developed an article to publish in the Time Magazine titled, The
Man in the Water. After flight ninety, which carried seventy four individuals, dove
into the Fourteenth Street bridge in Washington DC, there was one person whose
heroic act stood out from the rest. As he and five other survivors clung on to the wing
of the plane, instead of saving himself, this anonymous man, with an extravagant
mustache, aided the others. Every timethe lifeline came down, he would pass it over
to another person to save them first. However, when the lifeline came down the last
time to save him, he had already gone under the water and died. Eugene Windsor,
who was included in the park police helicopter team, stated, In a mass casualty, you ll
find people like him, but I ve never seen one with that commitment. During this event,
this man, gave life to the people he saved, and presented the theme of bravery.
Surrounded by strangers, the anonymous man, known as The Man in the Water, was
only minutes to death. With that being said, prior to the plane crash, he was on an
ordinary plane surrounded by people he had never met. However, when the plane
went down, instead of saving himself, he proceeded to save the others. Because he
was selfless, those people gained a longer life. The plane ... Show more content on

He wrote this to show people that men have absolutely no power over nature.
Nature will dominate whoever, even if they contain bravery. His purpose of writing
this story that portrayed the theme of bravery, was to inform more people of this
hero. After reading this article, Rosenblatt wants his audience to take something
away from it. With that being said, he want them to now know that bravery is up to
you and only you. The hero will, in many cases, be defeated by nature. So it s up to
individuals to decide if they want to take that risk. Clearly this story portrays the
theme of
Loss Of Innocence In The Catcher In The Rye
The knowledge that makes us cherish innocence makes innocence unattainable.
(Irving Howe Quote) The classic novel, The Catcher in the Rye, demonstrates this
loss of innocence through a young boy s corruption of a poem by Robert Burns.
The poem is titled Coming Thro the Rye but the young boy misinterpreted one of
the lines. Instead of saying If a body meet a body, coming through the rye, the line
from the original poem, he sang If a body catch a body, coming through the rye.
(Salinger 129) This mistake becomes a symbol for the loss of innocence that occurs
when one grows up and continues to act as a metaphor for Holden s desire to protect
all children from that fate. Both the song Comin Thro the Rye, and the boy s
alteration of it, serve to accentuate the theme of loss of innocence throughout the
novel.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Containerization and the Effects on The Cities and Ports of San Francisco and

The effects of containerization are arguably as far reaching as they are
underappreciated. When considering technologies that changed the world, it is easy
to quickly think of the internet and computers easing the speed of communication
across the world. Although not as glamorous, the advent of the steel container is at
the core of today s global economy, responsible for accelerating the transfer of goods
from place to place cheaply, efficiently and effectively. Containers are the physical

the modern worldwide supply chain. The extent to which the container matters to the

San Francisco primarily relied on the backbreaking manual labor of longshoremen to
load and unload ships that came through the port, a profession that had existed
unchanged for hundreds of years. Officials beliefs that containers were a passing fad,
in combination with the lack of investment and acreage required for the new
technology, allowed the Port of San Francisco, and its longshoremen, to fade into
history, just as its neighbor, the Port of Oakland emerged as a sophisticated leading
container port. The migration of the maritime industry across the bay dramatically
altered and restructured the economies of both San Francisco and Oakland. Similarly,
their waterfronts were forever transformed.
After World War II, the US economy boomed, while the maritime industry did not.
The merchant fleet had been commandeered aby the government when the United
States entered the war, and did not return to private ownership until two years after it
ended, in 1947. Coastline shipping stagnated at prewar levels, while trucking grabbed
the market share of domestic transportation. A cargoship typically would spend as
much time in port being loaded and unloaded as in transit, and was therefore
unreasonably expensive. Despite this, there was relatively little competition for
larger American ship lines since foreign lines were barred from coastal and island
service. However inefficient and costly,
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart s The Marriage Of Figaro
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed The Marriage of Figaro in 1786. For this
assignment, the focus was mainly on the first act of The Marriage of Figaro. The
excerpt given was divided into two main sections. First, I would like to expand on
the opera as a whole. Next, I will discuss the first section given. Then, I will discuss
the second.
The entire opera is known as an opera buffa, which is a comedic opera. This was a
very common opera genre in the classical era. The Marriage of Figaro is a perfect
example of an opera buffa in a variety of ways. For instance, an opera buffa has
believable characters as individuals. The characters we see have titles such as a
page boy, a music master, a count, and a fiancГ©e. These are all very common jobs
or titles. There is no mention of mythical creatures or other unheard of species. This
makes the opera very relatable to the audiences. The opera also deals with everyday

Instruments such as the violin, cello, and clarinet are being used. The
accompaniment thickens greatly as well. You can hear the drastic difference. The
instruments have more lines of music, and on top of that the instruments are listed in
full detail, and each has their own line of music. In addition to the change of
accompaniment, Mozart did a fabulous job of representing the characters through the
music. When the count sings alone, the sound is very regal. This, of course, is due to
his position. When Susanna sings, the accompaniment is higher, and also more
rushed. This would be because of the stress this character is experiencing, and also
her gender. In addition, when Susanna, the count, and the music master sing together,
you can hear multiple melodies being played. The action on stage also stops. In the
first section, Susanna was constantly moving. The count and the page boy both hide
and caused great movement on

independent study. Online school replacing standard schooling brings up some
additional risks that were not as prevalent before. The chance of students cheating

how can the instructor confirm who is taking the test? How can the instructor

Tips to Avoid Improperly Storing Your Boat Even though you may love being out
on the water on your boat, the winter will eventually come and you will need to put
your boat into storage. In order to avoid improperly storing your boat, you must be
aware of the dangers of improperly storing your boat, as well as how to store it
correctly. The Dangers One thing to watch out for is the temperature of the place
you are storing your boat. Your boat is constructed with materials that can be
sensitive to extremely cold or hot temperatures. For example, an extremely cold
storage climate could cause wood to warp, and an extremely hot storage climate may
compromise the boat s overall structure due to the metals that can bend. The ideal

Pros And Cons Of Violence In Video Games
Ever since the nineteen eighties people, usually politicians and the news media,
have been quick to blame video games for societal woes, saying violence in video
games causes violent behavior and makes people anti social. Some have even
argued video games cause racism, sexism, and cause health problems, but most
research that points towards video games being bad are inconsistent and sometimes
contradictory. And yet people still want to restrict and censor video games, even
though they are an art form just like film or paintings or what have you, and
because they are an art form they are a form of media and are protected under the
first amendment. Violent video games do not cause real world violencelike any art
form they only mirror the violence of the real world, and it is contradictory to think
that they cause actual violence. Video games have even been shown to be healthy,
they relieve stress and increase hand eye coordination, and are a positive, non violent
form of relieving aggression in a way that does not cause physical harm to others.
The ESRB video game rating system which was introduced in the nineteen nineties
and it is not legally binding and yet most retailers treat video games as if they were
alcohol and tobacco corrupting the youth. Unlike tobacco and alcohol they do not
put toxic chemicals into a person s body unlike any sort of drug legal or otherwise.
While a person can die from lack of physical activity video games alone cannot kill
someone, since video
Side Arm Weapons
One of the comonest use for a weapn is a side arm or a light, easy to cary weapon
for personal defence. Side arms must combine a reasonable effectiveness ( at least at
close range) with the compactness and lightnes. To be any use a side arm must be
carried all the time, so on that is heavvu, gets in the way or catches on things is

The eluting solvent passed down the column by the gravity and an equilibrium was
established between the solute absorbed by the absorbent (silica gel in this

sample had different polarity and they interacted with the stationary phase and the
mobile phase differently, the components would be carried by the solvent to a
different extent and a separation of the components could be achieved.
In this column chromatography, acetylferrocene was more polar, therefore was held

Love For The First Time

not in that way). Everything is beautiful, colorful, and perfect; at least that s how I
felt. When I had my first boyfriend, I felt free and careless, There weren t bad days
and I felt complete because he was by my side. Finally, someone understood my bad
jokes and weird sense of humor. It was the best timeof my life, and after a long time,
I felt happy. I know it sounds clichГ©, but that s how stupidly happy lovecan make

We have met for six years, he was in the same school as me and he later confesses

afraid that I would reject him or that it would ruin our friendship, but I told him that
I felt the same way, and since then we were together for two years as an official
couple.
Unfortunately, it didn t last long. He had a friend who spent a lot of time with
him, and I guess that little by little he started to get feelings for her, he did the right
thing and told me about it before he could cheat on me. We end up on good terms
and till this day we talk to each other as good friends because either way our
relationship at that point (last few months) felt empty and it was like we got bored
of each other, we realized that what we felt was not love in a romantic way, but as
friends. We care for each other because we ve known for six years. I had to admit

Overworking Nurses Results On Negative Patient Outcomes
Overworking Nurses Results In Negative Patient Outcomes A major issue in the
medical career field is the demand for nurses and this, of course, means that these
nurses will be working strenuous hours to meet the high demands. While this may
satisfy some issues it also creates others. Longer hours results in exhausted nurses
and this leads to negative patient outcomes. Nurses have many tasks to complete
while they are on the job. While these tasks may be simple they can also be harmful
if done wrong. For example, nurses have to distribute medication to patients. If the
nurseis overworked and tired he/she may distribute the wrong medication or mishap
and give them the wrong dosage. Something so small can make a world of difference
when it comes to the patient especially, if the patient is suffering from fatal
conditions. Another job that nurses partake is transcription, meaning they have to
transcribe what the doctor or physiciansays. This is extremely important because if
the nurse is not paying full attention they could miss a crucial part of what is said.
This, obviously, could lead to misdiagnosis or the wrong medication being
prescribed. One of the smaller tasks completed by nurses in charting. This could
result in the same way as the transcribing errors; the patient could be misdiagnosed or
not treated to their proper illness. ...Nurses working more than 12.5 consecutive hours
were three times more likely to make an error than nurses working shorter hours .....
Who Is Acting Irrational In Porphyria s Lover
The speaker in Porphyria s Lover does things that make the reader believe that he
is acting irrationally, but from his perspective the logic behind his actions could be
seen as reasonable. He is in love with a woman who is love with him and everyone
else. He makes a decision that can be seen as irrational but in the end, it works out
and you see why he did it and what positive aftermath was after it. In this poem, the
speaker is in love with Porphyria but he doesn t receive the love and display of
affection that he wants from her. He sees her withdrawing her clothes and this
brings in even more passion than he already had for her. Eventually, he realizes
that she does love him and this makes his heart swell. He enjoys that feeling and
wants it to last forever so he decides to do something so that she was mine, mine,
fair. Then in one yellow string I wound/Three times her little throat around, And
strangled her. No pain felt she; In this part, he has now killed Porphyria and places
her head on his shoulder and kisses her. He now knows that Porphyria is feeling no

The Problem Of The Older Adult Population Essay
The older adult population in the United States has steadily increased thanks to
technology and medical advances. While this definitely is an undeniable
achievement, it also creates some challenges that society was not as prevalent to
face before. Now that people are living longer it s also means that often times
family members are becoming caregivers to their loved ones during their so called
golden years. Not only may it be difficult to care for a loved one, but it also
becomes even more burdensome when their loved has a disability. In fact
dementia is one of the major causes of disability and dependency among older
people worldwide. (2016). Fortunately there are adult day centers that serve people
with dementia and provide services that can benefit them. However many times
caregivers are forgotten about and aren t provided services that can also benefit
them as well. While it does take a bit of pressure off of the caregivers while their
loved ones are at the day center, it does not eliminate all the other effects. Many
people may not be aware that there are detrimental effects that a caregiver may
experience as a result of caring for someone with dementia. While caregiving for an
older adult may be demanding in general, caring for a loved one with dementia
potentially can be even more strenuous due to the nature of the illness. Dementia is
associated with a decline in memory or other thinking skills severe enough to reduce
a person s ability to perform everyday
The Characteristics Of Nationalism In The Faerie Queene...
The word epic ignites a multitude of reactions in the minds of literature lovers and
passive readers alike. Some people may think of the slang version of this term
while other may fondly remember the theater. However, when one is conscious of
literary analysis and literature, they can always fall back to the genre of an epic
poem. In literary terms, an epic poem is considered to be a lengthy, narrative poem
that has a focus on the exploits of a hero and is full of immense amounts of style and
figurative language. Normally, by following this hero throughout the poem, the
readers are introduced to the alignment between the poem with a specific nation or
national identity. Several characteristics of epic poetrylend to this concept, especially
those found in both The Faerie Queene and Paradise Lost. Both epic poems focus on
historical context and on the characteristics of a heroic journey, the scale of the
setting, and divine intervention in order to establish a trend of English nationalistic
and religious identity. The period before these two poems were written in was filled
with religious dissent that first began with Henry VIII s establishment of the Church
of England. This action began a long chain of religious opposition between this new
Protestant movement and Catholicism. From entire Protestant rules such as the rule
of Henry s son, James I, to the slaughter and persecution of Protestants in the rule of
Mary I, England was searching for a religious identity that
Reflection On The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum
I have attended the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of Arts for my cultural event
essay, on Wednesday November 18, 2015. Attending this museum is considered a
cultural event since it provides you with the opportunity to learn about the
different styles of artworks of different time periods. This museum contained many
works that are influenced by classicism which is a style of historical tradition or
aesthetic attitudes based on the art of Greece and Rome ( Classicism and
Neoclassicism ). One particular piece of art that drew upon my attention was the
leaded glass window of the Aurora, the Roman goddess of dawn created by Louis
Comfort Tiffany, an American artist and designer of the 19th century ( The
Charles Hosmer ). The window was created based upon the original painting of the
Aurora by Will H. Low, a muralist designer for Tiffany ( Biography ). The Aurora is
influenced by the roots of western civilization by visual characteristics such as her
contrapposto stance. I believe that this art is trying to communicate how Aurora is
preparing to renew herself in the water to carry out her duties as a goddess.... Show

Tiffany used a technique known as plating, which is placing pieces of glass on top
of one another to create the effects of light and shade (The Charles Hosmer). The
name Aurora in Latin translates to morning (Took) so I assumed that the window is
layered with glass to allow a certain amount of light to appear through thus allowing
the concept of early morning to be displayed in the artwork. Roman mythology also
states that her energy represents new hope and renewal that each day brings (Dawn
Dancers Should Be Considered A Sport Essay
Competitive dancers of all genres, wether that be ballet, highland, tap, Irish,
modern or many others, deserve the right to be called athletes. As well as being a
beautiful art form, dance is as physically demanding as other wider known sports,
so why should dancers be banished from this highly privileged label? Dancers, like
other athletes must have their bodies in peak conditions, they have an extremely
demanding training programme and for what? To be told they don t work as hard as
footballer players or gymnasts? Dancers work just as hard and they should be
recognised for what they do. Not accepting competitive danceto be considered a sport
is an injustice and should be changed.

Does dance involve physical exertion? Certainly. Does dance involve skill? Most
definitely. Do dancers compete individually or as a team? Absolutely they actually do
both. Dr. McNitt Gray agreed that Dancers are some of the toughest athletes in the
world, through her study of top level dancers. Dancers require skill and strength in
order to perform the physically demanding moves, a strong core and high stamina is
key. Just because dancers don t grunt and groan during their performance doesn t
make them any less of an athlete, if anything it makes them tougher; dancers must
look elegant and graceful throughout their difficult performances even when it gets
extremely hard.
Dance clearly fits within the definition of sport unlike other so called sports such
as chess. How can chess be considered a sport? How many chess players do you see
participating in physical exertion during their games? Not only are undeserving
hobbies being considered sports over dance, so too are activities which are similar to
dance in many aspects yet we as dancers don t get any
Kansas City Hyatt-Regency Stairs
In 1980 the Kansas City Hyatt Regency Hotel opened, with the main attraction
being the atrium bridged by 3 walkways on the second, third, and fourth floors
which were suspended from the hotel lobby roof. These three walkways stretched a
distance of 37 meters and were suspended from the atrium s roof by 32 millimetre
diameter rods (Delatte, 2009). On 17 July 1981, just over a year after the opening
during a dance, two of the walkways collapsed killing 114 people and injuring more
than 200 others (Delatte, 2009).
Although many factors contributed to the collapse of the walkways, the biggest
contributor was the design. A few investigations ran but one done by National
Bureau of Standards (NBS) came to a number of conclusions. Firstly, the collapse of
the walkways happened under the action of loads that were noticeably less than the
design loads specified by the Kansas City Building Code (Marshall, 1982). Secondly,
as constructed, the beam rod connections, the fourth floor to ceiling rods, and the
third floor walkway rods did not satisfy the design requirements of the Kansas City
Building Code (Marshall, 1982). Thirdly, under the original, continuous, rod
arrangement, Figure 1, the beam rod connections would have had the ability to resist
the loads calculated to have been acting at the time of collapse (Marshall, 1982). And
lastly, it was also found that neither the quality of workmanship nor the resources
used in the walkways had a major role in starting the collapse (Marshall, 1982). ...

Even if the details had not been modified the rod hanger connection would have
violated building standards. As built, however, the connection only supported 30% of

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles ( Uavs )
Drones, or formally referred to as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), are machines
that primarily controlled through remote controls or computers. Individuals on the
ground are the ones who usually control the flight of this vehicle through a remote
control. However, depending on the type and model of the drone, autonomous flight
can occur through the embedded computer systems of the drone. Due to the vast
amounts shapes and sizes of drones, there is not set standard when classifying this
type of vehicle (Corrigan, 2015). However, the military does use a system for
classifying the size of drones as this technology is used regularly in this area. This
system will be discussed in further detail in the later portions of this section. Drones...

Numerous propellers are manufactured out of plastic and carbon fiber, which is
often reserved for drones of higher quality (Corrigan, 2015). To limit the amount of
damage done to the propellers, propeller guards can be purchased and used to
prevent unwanted outside contact with the drones. These guards also ensure the
safety of individuals both controlling the drone remotely and those who may be
located near the flight path. Significant amounts of innovation are occurring with
this particular drone component. As the quality of propellers increase, the better
the flight experience will be for owners. One of the sizable innovations in this area
involves low noise propellers as drones are often known for making a buzzing
sound as they fly through the air. Pusher Propellers As stated in the name, these
propellers are responsible for pushing the drone through the air and are located at
the rear of the drone. However, unlike the standard propellers located at the front of
the drone, these actually rotate opposite of the direction of the standard propellers
(Quimby, 2015). This action cancels out motor torques during stationary flight.
These propellers, same as the standard propellers, are also made of either plastic
and carbon fiber. In addition, drone propeller guards can be bought and placed
around the propellers. Brushless Motors Brushless motors are considered to be a
high performance motor that is capable of providing large amounts of torque over a
vast speed
Senior Caregivers
Senior Caregivers and Joint Problems Many seniors suffer from sore and aching
joints. What exactly causes these problems to occur? While there is no one simple
answer, let s take a look at a few of the most common reasons for joint problems. As
we age, the padding between the bones, cartilage, wears and erodes. This is often
accompanied by a drying up of the protective membranes and fluid that lubricates the
joints. Without the cartilage and the synovial membranes and fluid, the bones are
allowed to touch and painfully grind together. This deterioration of the joints often
causes stiffness, deformity, swelling, and pain. The most common joint problem for
seniors is osteoarthritis. In fact, Mayo Clinic notes that it is one of the most common
ailments in the United States. Nearly half of all seniors over... Show more content on

Fantastic Mr Fox Comparison
For years film connoisseurs and voracious readers have engaged in the debate over
which is better, the original writing or the adaptation onto celluloid. While there are
several examples that can support both arguments, this essay focuses on one
particular adaptation; Roald Dahl s loved story Fantastic Mr. Fox and its 2009
adaptation with the same title. In this case too, the filmmaker has taken several
liberties and added various elements to dramatize the story further in order make it
more visually appealing. However, unlike many attempts, this one works perfectly
well. Wes Anderson manages to take a simple children s story and turn it into

Fox was expecting. His son s story angle too is something that is missing in the
original work. While the book only limits the son to Small fox , the film gives Ash
s character a new life, making him different and showing how he deals with
common teenage problems like inferiority complex, jealousy and heartbreak.
Addition of other characters like Kristofferson and Kylie opossum too adds to the
vivid plot and sub plots. Meanwhile turning the three farmers, Boggis, Bunce and
Bean, into three businessmen with large scale farms only added to their villainous
characters. There are several hints to darker undercurrents in the film which are
not present in the book. The toothy smile that Mr. Fox flashes every now and then,
a nod to the dangerous animal that he is. Kylie s zoned out phases, a hint at drug

the end. Visually, the stop motion puppet animation is a
Zora Neale Hurston Sweat
The story Sweat by Zora Neale Hurston tells the story of Delia who overcame her
abusive husband, Sykes through her development of becoming a strong woman.
The development of Delia s character throughout the story relates to Zora Neale
Hurston s life of growing up into a strong, empowered woman. Delia and Zora
were both verbally and physically abused which made them afraid and timid. Zora
made her characters talk in a dialect that she grew up listening to which was
uncommon to do in literature. Delia and Zora both had to provide for themselves by
putting in the effort remain stable and happy. They also stood up for what they
believed in which started their development into strong women. Delia had to let her
husband die in order to gain independence, while Zora had to move away from home
in order to be successful in her future which developed them both develop into
independent women. They became stronger because of these things which
empowered them to take back control of their lives. The snakeis a symbol in the story
that represents the evil that was overcome by the good. This story can now be better
analyzed when looking at the life of Delia which connects to Zora Neale Hurstons
life. Delia was physically abused many times by her husband, Sykes. He was also
mentally and verbally abusive to her by calling her names and constantly teasing
her. This can be seen when he pretends to scare Delia with a snake, and then calls
her names for being scared. In Zora s life, this is seen where she also grew up as an
abused child from her father. Her father did not like her very much because her
sassy attitude. He said that she was too spirited and too mouthy for her own good
which hurt her feelings and made her very aware that she was not his favorite child
in the family(Boyd 27). Her father would also physically abuse her by threatening
and spanking her as a child. In the story, Sykes represents Zora s father because
they were both abusive towards women. Zora included this detail in her story to
explain her life as a child. The story is put in the perspective of a grown woman
who had been abused, but how she would feel the same pain a child would feel who
had been abused. No matter the person s age, anyone

Texting Vs Calling Research Paper
There is great controversy of the topic that includes the differences of calling and

people can respond when the time in covenant. Advantages of calling incorporate the
ability to completely understand what they are saying, knowing that it is just

though these seem like great accommodations, there is a great downside to each of
these. The main fault of texting is texting and driving. Edgar Snyder backs this up by

Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7. This was stated by

Does a Higher Accredited Investor Threshold Clip Angels Wings?
Does raising the financial requirements to be an accredited investor reduce start up
financing? The Angel Capital Association (ACA), a trade association of angel groups,
claims that it does. But data on the angel capital market suggests otherwise.
Who s right on this issue matters. Later this year, the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) will decide whether to raise the income and net worth
requirements to be an accredited investor, following the requirement in the Dodd
Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 to periodically
reevaluate the current standard.
The ACA argues that raising the threshold would cause grave disruption to the startup

To figure that out, I looked at data produced by the Center for Venture Research at the
University of New Hampshire, which provides annual estimates of the number of
angel investors, the amount of money invested by angels, and the number of
companies receiving angel financing.
The 2010 increase in the accredited investor threshold did not adversely affect the
angel capital market. Between 2009 (the last year before the new financial threshold)
and 2013, the number of angel investors increased by 15.7 percent and the number of
angel backed companies rose by 23.7 percent.
Because it s not clear exactly when the new net worth standard would have
impacted the angel market The SEC says the change was effective upon enactment
of the Dodd Frank law in 2010, but the agency adopted amendments to the
accredited investor standards in its rules in 2011, and set 2012 as the effective
date for the new rules I also looked at whether the numbers of angel investors and
angel backed companies declined in 2010, 2011, or 2012. The CVR data show that
both the number of investors and the number of angel backed companies increased
between 2009 and 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Comparing with 2009 might be unfair because that was a bad year for economy.
Therefore, I compared the 2013 figures with the 2007 (the last pre recession pre
Dodd Frank year) numbers. In 2013, there were 15.7 percent more angel investors
and 23.9 percent more angel backed companies than in 2007.

My Search For Going To College
What do you mean I cannot live with my parents for the rest of my life? So you
mean to tell me that I actually have to become an adult? . These have been the
thoughts plaguing my mind for the past four years and now that my time is up, I get
to do something about them. My main problem with going to collegeis being away
from my home, my family, and my friends. I knew that if I were to pick the wrong
college, I would be running back to my mom in a weeks time. Finding the right
college is a universal challenge for every upcoming college student, but when I found
Baylor UniversityI knew it was my new home.
My hunt for the perfect college started my freshmen year of high school. During
that time in my life, I felt there was a big weight on my shoulders to be successful
in life. Since picking the right college is a big part of being successful, I was feeling
overwhelmed. There are about 1,400 colleges in the United States and I had to
narrow that down to a top five, frantic was an understatement about how I was
feeling. Taking a step back to look at the big picture, I decided to evaluate what I was
looking for in a college; I came up with the following list: have my desired major
(Astrophysics), be far away from home (but not too far), and to live in a big city.
Applying my new set of criteria, I now only had 3 colleges to choose from:
University of Texasat Austin, Rice University, and Baylor University. I gave my
contact information to each of them and in time I had a scheduled visit to Baylor
University.
When I arrived on the Baylor campus I immediately felt at home. I had the honor of
attending the Baylor Premier, which acts like a huge campus tour for everyone that
attends the seminar.
Everybody was so genuinely nice and enthusiastic about me being there, I got the
feeling that was where I belonged. I could see myself walking the campus with my
newly found friends on the way to our The Atomic Theory 101 class. Although I
have a tendency of letting my head float in the sky, I had to snap myself out of my
dreamland and back into reality to remember that I still had two other options for my
perfect college. Not wanting to make my decision after only seeing one school I
scheduled campus tours with The
Invention Of Dynamite
Dynamite has helped humanity out for years in good way and negative ways as well.
We haven t really payed much attention on how useful has been to us. Dynamite is a
high explosive consisting of nitroglycerine mixed with an absorbent material and
typically adding groups (from nitric acid) to toluene. At low temperatures, the mono
nitrotoluenes are made, and as the reaction temperature is increased, the dynatron
compounds are formed, until eventually TNT is formed.
Who invented dynamite? The creator of dynamite was Alfred Nobel. He was born
October 21, 1883, in Stockholm Sweden. He was Swedish and had four siblings. He
lived with both his parents. One of his famous quotes was, If I have a thousand ideas
and only one turns out to be good, I am satisfied. He was a Swedish chemist,
engineer, inventor, businessman and a philanthropist.
Why was dynamite made? One possible reason for Swedish engineer Alfred Nobel
s invention of dynamite was the safety of construction work and blasting rock in
the mid 1800s. Nobel helped build bridges in Stockholm. Nitroglycerine was used
in the detonation of rock, and it was a relatively unsafe method. According to the
Nobel Prize Organization, Alfred Nobel s brother Emil was killed in a
nitroglycerine explosion. He wanted to make sure no one was hurt because of
dangerous explosions in work. He knew construction would always be hard work and
dangerous to destroy buildings by hand, so he needed something faster and more
Gay-Sex And Homosexuality
Homosexuality has been a subject of much worry for debaters everywhere throughout
the world. Despite the fact that the idea of homosexuality and the activities required
with it are not new and it has been honed everywhere throughout the world all
through different phases of our history, individuals still discover it a general thought
hard to acknowledge. Many individuals hate upon the thoughts and view gaypeople as
irregularities of nature. This can t be further from reality since it has been watched
that numerous types of different creatures, for example, certain types of reindeer and
dolphins, likewise display gay conduct. Subsequently, homosexualityis an extremely
normal thing and it ought not be limited as it is in many spots and gay relational
unions ought to be permitted. Despite the fact that many states in the United States
have totally sanctioned gay/lesbian relational unions and numerous others are
running comparative suits, there are as yet numerous who restrict them. In the event
that gay/lesbian relational unions were to be permitted in each state, it would realize
an extremely noteworthy change in our way of life and society.
At present, a considerable lot of the hetero individuals see homosexuality as
something that is threatening to their own particular sexuality. They are unreliable
about their own introduction and are frightened that homosexuality may
antagonistically influence them or their youngsters. This is on the grounds that
homosexuality isn t
The Significance Of Amadeus
The Significance of Mozart s Music in the Movie Amadeus Would producing a film
without any background music be possible? Technologically yes, of course, but any
filmmakers would not try to produce their movies without soundtracks because the
images of films come truly alive when a soundtrack is added in the movie (Monaco
235). Although due to the underdevelopment of filmtechniques, many films in the
1920s were produced without music at first, after the progress of sound film
technology, the film industry completely moved from silent movies to talkies. Right
after the advent of talkies in the film industry, The Jazz Singer, the first sound movie,
was released and introduced the new genre of film a musical film. The new genre of

The storyline of Amadeus, which is based on the original play of the same title
written by Peter Shaffer, mainly revolves around the entire life of Mozart and his
music. Basically, the movie s plot is based on the rumor that Salieri poisoned
Mozart because of his jealousy to Mozart s musical talent. Even if the rumor,
which had spread over Vienna in the 1820s, clearly turned out not to be true
through several historical research, still, the movie Amadeus depicts the fictional
life of Mozart and Salieri s plan to murder him in a realistic way by delicately
displacing Mozart s great works to show Salieri s intense inferiority to Mozart and
his music. The movie s plot the story of Mozart s life in Vienna and his early death
is mainly unfolded with the confession of aged Salieri after his suicide attempt
feeling severe guilty conscience that he murders Mozart. Salieri reveals during his
confession that he wants to murder Mozart because of his inferiority to the genius
of Mozart. With Salieri s feeling of jealousy to Mozart, the movie develops its
storyline based on the musical rivalry and conflict between Mozart and Salieri.
Considering the underlying reason of the rivalry their musical talent between two
characters, Mozart s music works as an essential role to move forward the plot of
the film. By arranging Mozart s music at the episodes that cause Salieri to feel
Mold Experiment Essay
Mold can be harmful, so the experiment is to find what conditions will help prevent
mold growth (Cini, 2015). According to Cini, if a slice of bread is left out for a few
days you will begin to see growths on its surface and those growths are called
mold. In the experiment, bread will be kept in different places: one is kept in room
conditions; another is kept in a dark, damp place; and the last one in the refrigerator.
For the experiment, they took five slices of bread, and put them in the aforementioned
environments. To continue the experiment, the different rates of moldgrowth on the
slices in different environments were monitored. These were there results: Mold is
not prevented for as long when kept in warm and humid conditions, and mold is
prevented for a longer time if kept in a sealed container or in a cold environment, like
a refrigerator (Cini, 2015).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Eitel, the amount of preservatives and chemicals in everyday meals
have been increasing and that can be scary to people. This experiment will
somewhat answer the question of how much they really affect the freshness of
food, by putting slices of bread in a warm, dark place. In the experiment, they got
five different types of bread: white, wheat, rye, bread made from rice flour, and
homemade bread. Continuing the experiment, they took those five slices of bread,
sprinkled a teaspoon of water on each sample, and placed them in the same place,
but made sure they were not touching, and then they monitored the growth of the
mold for a week. The results were: bread with high moisture content molds very fast
so the dark rye bread molded quickly, and the homemade bread molded quickly
because it did not have preservatives (Eitel,
Tripartite Model Of Attitudes
Baker (1992) describes attitudes as hypothetical constructs which are formed from
threefold components : Affective, behavioural and cognitive. This tripartite model is
one of the most cited models of attitudes. These components are usually connected,
but recent research in social psychology suggests that not all of them will necessarily
be represented in any given attitude and that they can not always be distinguished
from one another ( Bohner Wanke, 2002 ). The structure of attitudes is clearly
described in the following figure :
Figure .1 : Three_Components Model of Attitudes (Baker, 1992, p.13).
The affective component consists of the negative or positive feelings that a person
has towards a given object. The behavioural component refers ... Show more content

which is based on the concept of observational learning which occurs by simply
observing a model. This theory was developed by Bandura in the 1960s.It combines
both cognitive theory which assumes that learning is influenced by psychological
factors and behavioral learning theory which assumes that learning is based on
reactions to external stimuli
Guy Winch Speech Analysis
In February of 2015, Dr. Guy Winch delivered a TEDTalk about emotional first aid.
His seventeen minute speech successfully raised mental health awareness and
encouraged the audience to treat emotional wounds before they become serious
psychological issues. Dr. Winch achieved his speaking purposes by carefully and
effectively building ethos, pathos, and logos throughout the talk. First, Dr. Guy
Winch built the ethos of his speech by having good moral, good will, and good
sense. The theme of the speech is to raise mental health awareness and teach people
how to practice emotional hygiene. All the evidences that Dr. Winch gave
throughout his speech proved the fact that people do not value their mental health
as much as their physical health. Dr. Winch did not try to persuade the audience
into doing anything that will benefit him. Instead, Dr. Winch dedicated his speech
to inform his listeners about emotional hygiene. He clearly displayed his good
moral by not taking a stand but only providing real life examples to prove his point.
For instant, Dr. Winch gave an example of a woman who had negative self thoughts
after being rejected by her date to demonstrate the connection between rejection and
low self esteem. The speaker also improved the ethos aspect of his speech by
showing his audience his sincerity. Dr. Guy Winch expressed his genuine concern for
his audience by addressing issues and suggesting ways to make changes so that the
audience can thrive. For instant, Winch

Essay on Nasser and the United States
In July 1952, the Egyptian government, headed by King Farouk, was overthrown in
a bloodless coup led by the Free Officers, soon to be known as the Egyptian
Revolutionary Command Council (RCC). The revolution was ostensibly led by
Muhammad Naguib but it was clear that he was a mere figurehead and in a little
over two years, Gamal Abdel Nasserwould assume the Presidency. Although the
goals of the RCC were somewhat unclear at the start, Nasser would embark on a
policy of creating an independent Egyptfree from internal and external domination. It
was the latter goal that would set Nasser on a collision course with the West, initially
Great Britain and to a lesser extent France, but eventually the United States. As such,
Nasser s commitment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Accordingly, the United States, in the midst of their conflict in Korea, could not
have been more pleased. As Great Britain s power in the Middle East was waning, the
contest between the United States and the Soviet Union increased in order to fill the
vacuum of power left by the slowly vacating British. Immediately upon seizing power,
the RCC showed a willingness to brutally suppress domestic communist activities.
According to Yaqub: The Truman administration was enthusiastic about the new
regime...The new government expressed a desire for friendly relations with the
United States and cracked down on communist activists who had taken part in the anti
British disturbances, prompting Moscow to denounce the regime as reactionary.
The revolutionary regime in Egypt appeared to fulfill US aspirations in the Middle
East in a sense that it was sufficiently opposed to communism and at the same time
appeared to have generated popular sympathy. When in the fall of 1954 Nasser
stated his willingness to align with the west while seeing the USSR as the only real
threat to Egypt s independence, the United States responded by providing
propaganda for Nasser s regime in Egypt and the Arab world. The appearance of
solidarity, however, was soon to be tested.

  • 3. The Role Of Serfs In Medieval Times The medieval time period survived on a system that provided order and good military, this system was called Feudalism. Serfs had a major role in the medieval time period, they were the ones, along with the freemen, who did the hard work in the manor, not only for themselves to survive on, but for the whole manor, the lord, and the king. Feudalismwas a type of government, it was created not for fairness, but for organization. Without serfs, the feudal system would deteriorate, therefore, there needed to be a specific role for labor, or no drudgery would ever be done. Feudalism brought many things to everyone in this time period, some people got more freedom than others, some worked harder than others, everyone had a role, they may be treated differently for the role, but they all matter. Serfs played a major role in a medieval manor. Serfs did most of the work in this time period. In the beginning of the 1100 s, serfs were used for farming and they were able to farm more land, because there was an increase in improved farming tools (Cels 8). 90% of the population of serfs, participated in farming, the other 10% would produce goods or perform other types of labor (Hunt 18). Serfs were the lowest class in the feudal system, they were bound to the land, and couldn t do anything about it. The Middle Ages, was a time of order, people in classes, from king, to serfs, who were bound to the land, where they were then forced to work, providing for the manor, and those living in

  • 6. Cirrhosis Synthesis Past literature define cirrhosis as a non reversible end result of liver disease, however recent studies have shown it s a dynamic process. If K.D stops his alcohol intake, he will reduce the acetaldehyde and acetate in his body which is the main causes of cell and tissue damage. The mechanism of tissue reversal takes place by blocking the formation of excessive acetaldehyde in the mitochondria. In the absence of excessive alcoholin the cells, only the primary alcohol oxidative metabolic pathway takes place. Alcohol is metabolized to acetaldehyde by the cytosolic enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH). Due to the ADH s high affinity and low capacity, saturation occurs very quickly. If the patient consumes excessive alcohol, the body has to start

  • 8. Essay on The Transcontinental Railroad And Westward... The Transcontinental Railroad and Westward Expansion Thesis: The transcontinental railroad greatly increased Westward expansion in the United States of America during the latter half of the nineteenth century. The history of the United States has been influenced by England in many ways. In the second half of the 1800 s, the railroad, which was invented in England, had a major effect on Western expansion in the United States. quot;Railroads were born in England, a country with dense populations, short distances between cities, and large financial resources. In America there were different circumstances, a sparse population in a huge country, large stretches between cities, and only the smallest amounts of money. quot; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Romantics dreamed of the discoveries of wild Indians, scouts and hunters, and, of course, gold. Gold had been a desired find throughout the exploration of America. The California Gold Rush of 1849 again created much excitement about the search for gold. The Pacific Railroads were founded when the Civil War was in progress. Until the war was over, the transcontinental railroad was a giant enterprise stalled by much bickering between a reluctant Congress and the Army, who had clamored for it (Cooke 254). If it had been left to the government, it would have taken another twenty years to complete the transcontinental railroad. However, it was a commercial venture, and it was fortunately fed by the adrenaline of competition. There were two railroad companies building the transcontinental railroad, the Union Pacific from the East, and the Central Pacific from the West. The two companies struggled to beat each other in slamming down a record mileage of track. At first, Congress avidly pursued the project and they had stipulated that the Central Pacific should stop when it reached the California Border (Congress was full of Easterners). In 1865, after much argument about the aid the government was providing to the two companies, the actual construction of the transcontinental railroad was started. Then in 1866, Congress decided that two companies
  • 9. Comparing The Greek Mythology And The Cherokee Every culture has its own past belief on how everything was created; Gods, lands, plants, animals, creatures, and humans all have a unique story to be told throughout the ages. But it is plain to see there is some overlap between ideas on how everything was made. Take the Greek Mythology, the most popular and well known type of mythos, has connections to other cultures like Nordic and Native American. But of course, each story has their own twist or other idea to it, as well. There are quite a few similarities between the Greeks stories of creation and the Cherokee. In both stories, before anything could be created, water had been everywhere, and surrounded in darkness. It was void like and wild, primitive almost. Another similarity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the Greeks, the Grecian Gods, rather than animals, helped make Earth more habitable for humans by getting rid of the creatures Earth birthed. Finally, the personified beings in both stories were different. The animals were personified and giving character as they were the ones that helped create Earth, while the Greeks made planets personified. The next comparison between two stories is that of Norse mythology and Greek mythology. Both stories have very similar ideas and ways of telling their stories of how their world came into being. Norse has their giants, who gave birth to the original three gods that created Midgard. The Greeks have the Titans who bore the Greek gods who overthrew them as well to control the Earth. Both myths contain the presence of creatures in their stories, beasts who helped shape their respective worlds to move the culture s creation stories further along. Creatures within these worlds would be the dwarves, the serpent Nidhogg, and demons of Norse myth and the Cyclopes, the furies, and Typhon of Greek origin Furthermore, the children of some of these creatures were divines, who ended up overthrowing their elders to lead the creation of their own worlds, to rule over their own creations as well. And speaking of the world, both myths have multiple layers to their

  • 11. Speech On Freedom Of Speech Paying attention to public discourse, one can see this happen many times. Someone says and or in some other way expresses something objectionable or controversial, which draws a significant amount criticism toward them. Then they or someone defending them will cry freedom of speech, in a bid to defend it. And this is a bad thing for the culture of our public discourse. Now before anyone makes the mistake of misunderstanding this, I am not attacking freedom of speech, I am criticizing people who draw up claims of free speech, where it is irrelevant to the matters at hand, and use such claims as a way of trying to deflect criticism. Because those types of misused claims can harm and erode the public discourse. It is important to understand when a claim of free speech is relevant to a discussion is relevant and when it is not. It is relevant when freedom of speech is in contest, and if it isn t then it s not relevant. If the government was trying to legally ban protected speech, or trying to punish someone merely for speaking, or if someone was harassing someone personally, or using violence, or other unwarranted actions to silence someone or punish them for speaking, then claims of free speech are relevant. But if that isn t happening, if people are merely criticizing what someone said or otherwise expressed, and treating them in manners fitting to accountability in public discourse, then claims of freedom of speech are not relevant. Yet you will find people who in those instances of public discourse, where people will cry free speech, where there is no evidence that anyone ever challenged that they or the person they are defending had the liberty to say or express what they did, and try to use free speech as if that alone justifies it and can deflect criticism. Just because someone has the liberty to say or express something, does not mean that what they said or expressed was justified in itself. Criticizing what someone else says is not an attack on freedom of speech. Saying that what someone said was wrong, or that they shouldn t have said it, or trying to convince them that they should cease doing it, is not attack on freedom of speech. Because there is a difference between whether someone can say

I could tell you I was doing this daily because it felt easier than doing my hair and putting on some mascara; but the truth is, the reflection staring back at me was starting to change. I thought I had no reason to get dressed, excuse that fact that I need to feel good about myself. I m a mom now and I work from home at that....I was feeling more comfortable while hiding behind my hat and shades. My moments of looking at myself were getting shorter and shorter on purpose. In those moments I had thoughts like, You re getting bags under your eyes? and There s no way you can be aging that fast. It felt easier just to cover up and walk away. When I see my kids, my sisters, or friends pick themselves apart, they are pointing out something I don t see in them. I hate to hear that certain parts of themselves bother them so much. • 14. Pros And Cons Of Batman And Superman Batman and Superman are DC s most valuable super heroes. They fight crime, help those in need, and protect their cities. Truly that is hero, someone we should look up to. Or is it? Today I was tasked with deciding whether or not, Batman and Superman do more harm than good as role models and cultural icons. I have come to the conclusion that they do more harm than good. It s important to note that I will be basing most of my information on the Supermanand Batmanmovie. I have 3 main reasons why I believe this, 1 they are not relatable, 2 they solve their problems through violence, and 3 they are very dark. Let s begin with point one. The first reason why I agree with the statement, As role models and cultural icons, Batman and Superman do more harm than good. Is because of how unrelatable they are to people. Starting with Superman, he is an alien from a different world. He has powers that no one on earth can attain, unbreakable skin, laser eyes, the ability to fly by himself, and X ray vision (Superman s). No one can relate to any of those powers (Superman). Meanwhile, Batman is an orphan, who has billions of dollars. Some people can relate with the loss of a loved one but very, very few have access to even a million dollars. We look at them and see something that we can never be. Batman and Superman are role models and cultural icons that do more harm than good. The second reason why Batman and Superman as role models and cultural icons do more harm than good is because they solve the majority of their problems through violence. Dr. Sharon Lamb states, Today s superherois too much like an action hero who participates in non stop violence...rarely speaks to the virtue of doing good for humanity, (Chivers). She is 100% correct in this. In the 2013 movie, Man of Steel, our hero flies about destroying the city he swore to protect. Buildings fall, lives are taken, and superman brings up no mention of any virtue by the end of the film. He uses violence. This continues on in basically every show that includes him. Bad guy shows up, does a bad thing, and Superman flies over, beats up the villain and wins the day. Now we examine Batman. He does the exact same thing, gliding around his city beating up crime and
  • 15. The Problem Of Invading Privacy On a small scale, the concept can be referred to as a focus group. The agency executives taking their seats behind the one way blackboard, prepared to gain information as their puppets reward the participants with a few dollars or an appreciative sentiment. This situation is echoed within the makeup of our online society, as we are given small benefits and social reasons to allow access to our information, while the governmenttakes in as much data as they can to monitor people and hold them down by their own vices. Through this, the government, commonly referred to as Big Brother , controls citizens and while many express that the Internet is a battleground for privacy, the war zone is actually a fabricated idea that the government makes people believe through the allocation of these societal prizes and the bailout excuse of defending them against terrorism. Big Brother claims to be helping people by protecting them, but that is only used as an excuse to keep an eye on everyone. It is clearly a problem of invading privacy, because as Neil M. Richards states, Although we have laws that protect us against government surveillance, secret government programs cannot be challenged until they are discovered. And even when they are, our law of surveillance provides only minimal protections ( 934). The FBI and the government continue to defend the watch of their people by claiming it is a defense against outside threats. At first glance this is a commendable objective, but it is
  • 16. Roger Rosenblatt s The Man In The Water Roger Rosenblatt developed an article to publish in the Time Magazine titled, The Man in the Water. After flight ninety, which carried seventy four individuals, dove into the Fourteenth Street bridge in Washington DC, there was one person whose heroic act stood out from the rest. As he and five other survivors clung on to the wing of the plane, instead of saving himself, this anonymous man, with an extravagant mustache, aided the others. Every timethe lifeline came down, he would pass it over to another person to save them first. However, when the lifeline came down the last time to save him, he had already gone under the water and died. Eugene Windsor, who was included in the park police helicopter team, stated, In a mass casualty, you ll find people like him, but I ve never seen one with that commitment. During this event, this man, gave life to the people he saved, and presented the theme of bravery. Surrounded by strangers, the anonymous man, known as The Man in the Water, was only minutes to death. With that being said, prior to the plane crash, he was on an ordinary plane surrounded by people he had never met. (Irving Howe Quote) The classic novel, The Catcher in the Rye, demonstrates this loss of innocence through a young boy s corruption of a poem by Robert Burns. The poem is titled Coming Thro the Rye but the young boy misinterpreted one of the lines. Instead of saying If a body meet a body, coming through the rye, the line from the original poem, he sang If a body catch a body, coming through the rye. (Salinger 129) This mistake becomes a symbol for the loss of innocence that occurs when one grows up and continues to act as a metaphor for Holden s desire to protect all children from that fate. Although not as glamorous, the advent of the steel container is at the core of today s global economy, responsible for accelerating the transfer of goods from place to place cheaply, efficiently and effectively. San Francisco primarily relied on the backbreaking manual labor of longshoremen to load and unload ships that came through the port, a profession that had existed unchanged for hundreds of years. Officials beliefs that containers were a passing fad, in combination with the lack of investment and acreage required for the new technology, allowed the Port of San Francisco, and its longshoremen, to fade into history, just as its neighbor, the Port of Oakland emerged as a sophisticated leading container port. The migration of the maritime industry across the bay dramatically altered and restructured the economies of both San Francisco and Oakland. Similarly, their waterfronts were forever transformed. After World War II, the US economy boomed, while the maritime industry did not. The merchant fleet had been commandeered aby the government when the United States entered the war, and did not return to private ownership until two years after it ended, in 1947. Coastline shipping stagnated at prewar levels, while trucking grabbed the market share of domestic transportation. A cargoship typically would spend as much time in port being loaded and unloaded as in transit, and was therefore unreasonably expensive. Despite this, there was relatively little competition for larger American ship lines since foreign lines were barred from coastal and island service. However inefficient and costly,

For this assignment, the focus was mainly on the first act of The Marriage of Figaro. The excerpt given was divided into two main sections. First, I would like to expand on the opera as a whole. Next, I will discuss the first section given. Then, I will discuss the second. The entire opera is known as an opera buffa, which is a comedic opera. This was a very common opera genre in the classical era. The Marriage of Figaro is a perfect example of an opera buffa in a variety of ways. For instance, an opera buffa has believable characters as individuals. The characters we see have titles such as a page boy, a music master, a count, and a fiancГ©e. This, of course, is due to his position. When Susanna sings, the accompaniment is higher, and also more rushed. Overworking Nurses Results On Negative Patient Outcomes Overworking Nurses Results In Negative Patient Outcomes A major issue in the medical career field is the demand for nurses and this, of course, means that these nurses will be working strenuous hours to meet the high demands. While this may satisfy some issues it also creates others. Longer hours results in exhausted nurses and this leads to negative patient outcomes. Nurses have many tasks to complete while they are on the job. While these tasks may be simple they can also be harmful if done wrong. For example, nurses have to distribute medication to patients. If the nurseis overworked and tired he/she may distribute the wrong medication or mishap and give them the wrong dosage. Something so small can make a world of difference when it comes to the patient especially, if the patient is suffering from fatal conditions. Another job that nurses partake is transcription, meaning they have to transcribe what the doctor or physiciansays. This is extremely important because if the nurse is not paying full attention they could miss a crucial part of what is said. This, obviously, could lead to misdiagnosis or the wrong medication being prescribed. One of the smaller tasks completed by nurses in charting. On 17 July 1981, just over a year after the opening during a dance, two of the walkways collapsed killing 114 people and injuring more than 200 others (Delatte, 2009). Although many factors contributed to the collapse of the walkways, the biggest contributor was the design. A few investigations ran but one done by National Bureau of Standards (NBS) came to a number of conclusions. Firstly, the collapse of the walkways happened under the action of loads that were noticeably less than the design loads specified by the Kansas City Building Code (Marshall, 1982). Secondly, as constructed, the beam rod connections, the fourth floor to ceiling rods, and the third floor walkway rods did not satisfy the design requirements of the Kansas City Building Code (Marshall, 1982). Thirdly, under the original, continuous, rod arrangement, Figure 1, the beam rod connections would have had the ability to resist the loads calculated to have been acting at the time of collapse (Marshall, 1982). To limit the amount of damage done to the propellers, propeller guards can be purchased and used to prevent unwanted outside contact with the drones. These guards also ensure the safety of individuals both controlling the drone remotely and those who may be located near the flight path. Significant amounts of innovation are occurring with this particular drone component. As the quality of propellers increase, the better the flight experience will be for owners. One of the sizable innovations in this area involves low noise propellers as drones are often known for making a buzzing sound as they fly through the air. Pusher Propellers As stated in the name, these propellers are responsible for pushing the drone through the air and are located at the rear of the drone. However, unlike the standard propellers located at the front of the drone, these actually rotate opposite of the direction of the standard propellers (Quimby, 2015). The development of Delia s character throughout the story relates to Zora Neale Hurston s life of growing up into a strong, empowered woman. Delia and Zora were both verbally and physically abused which made them afraid and timid. Zora made her characters talk in a dialect that she grew up listening to which was uncommon to do in literature. Delia and Zora both had to provide for themselves by putting in the effort remain stable and happy. They also stood up for what they believed in which started their development into strong women. Delia had to let her husband die in order to gain independence, while Zora had to move away from home in order to be successful in her future which developed them both develop into independent women. They became stronger because of these things which empowered them to take back control of their lives. The snakeis a symbol in the story that represents the evil that was overcome by the good. This story can now be better analyzed when looking at the life of Delia which connects to Zora Neale Hurstons life. Delia was physically abused many times by her husband, Sykes. He was also mentally and verbally abusive to her by calling her names and constantly teasing her. This can be seen when he pretends to scare Delia with a snake, and then calls her names for being scared. In Zora s life, this is seen where she also grew up as an abused child from her father. Her father did not like her very much because her sassy attitude. He said that she was too spirited and too mouthy for her own good which hurt her feelings and made her very aware that she was not his favorite child in the family(Boyd 27). Her father would also physically abuse her by threatening and spanking her as a child. In the story, Sykes represents Zora s father because they were both abusive towards women. Zora included this detail in her story to explain her life as a child. The story is put in the perspective of a grown woman who had been abused, but how she would feel the same pain a child would feel who had been abused. No matter the person s age, anyone

Does raising the financial requirements to be an accredited investor reduce start up financing? The Angel Capital Association (ACA), a trade association of angel groups, claims that it does. But data on the angel capital market suggests otherwise. Who s right on this issue matters. Later this year, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will decide whether to raise the income and net worth requirements to be an accredited investor, following the requirement in the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 to periodically reevaluate the current standard. The ACA argues that raising the threshold would cause grave disruption to the startup ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To figure that out, I looked at data produced by the Center for Venture Research at the University of New Hampshire, which provides annual estimates of the number of angel investors, the amount of money invested by angels, and the number of companies receiving angel financing. The 2010 increase in the accredited investor threshold did not adversely affect the angel capital market. Between 2009 (the last year before the new financial threshold) and 2013, the number of angel investors increased by 15.7 percent and the number of angel backed companies rose by 23.7 percent. Because it s not clear exactly when the new net worth standard would have impacted the angel market The SEC says the change was effective upon enactment of the Dodd Frank law in 2010, but the agency adopted amendments to the accredited investor standards in its rules in 2011, and set 2012 as the effective date for the new rules I also looked at whether the numbers of angel investors and angel backed companies declined in 2010, 2011, or 2012. The CVR data show that both the number of investors and the number of angel backed companies increased between 2009 and 2010, 2011 and 2012. Comparing with 2009 might be unfair because that was a bad year for economy. Therefore, I compared the 2013 figures with the 2007 (the last pre recession pre Dodd Frank year) numbers. In 2013, there were 15.7 percent more angel investors and 23.9 percent more angel backed companies than in 2007. Raising

These have been the thoughts plaguing my mind for the past four years and now that my time is up, I get to do something about them. My main problem with going to collegeis being away from my home, my family, and my friends. I knew that if I were to pick the wrong college, I would be running back to my mom in a weeks time. Finding the right college is a universal challenge for every upcoming college student, but when I found Baylor UniversityI knew it was my new home. My hunt for the perfect college started my freshmen year of high school. During that time in my life, I felt there was a big weight on my shoulders to be successful in life. Since picking the right college is a big part of being successful, I was feeling overwhelmed. There are about 1,400 colleges in the United States and I had to narrow that down to a top five, frantic was an understatement about how I was feeling. Taking a step back to look at the big picture, I decided to evaluate what I was looking for in a college; I came up with the following list: have my desired major (Astrophysics), be far away from home (but not too far), and to live in a big city. Applying my new set of criteria, I now only had 3 colleges to choose from: University of Texasat Austin, Rice University, and Baylor University. I gave my contact information to each of them and in time I had a scheduled visit to Baylor University. When I arrived on the Baylor campus I immediately felt at home. I had the honor of attending the Baylor Premier, which acts like a huge campus tour for everyone that attends the seminar. Everybody was so genuinely nice and enthusiastic about me being there, I got the feeling that was where I belonged. I could see myself walking the campus with my newly found friends on the way to our The Atomic Theory 101 class. Although I have a tendency of letting my head float in the sky, I had to snap myself out of my dreamland and back into reality to remember that I still had two other options for my perfect college. Not wanting to make my decision after only seeing one school I scheduled campus tours with The

Dynamite is a high explosive consisting of nitroglycerine mixed with an absorbent material and typically adding groups (from nitric acid) to toluene. At low temperatures, the mono nitrotoluenes are made, and as the reaction temperature is increased, the dynatron compounds are formed, until eventually TNT is formed. Who invented dynamite? The creator of dynamite was Alfred Nobel. He was born October 21, 1883, in Stockholm Sweden. He was Swedish and had four siblings. He lived with both his parents. One of his famous quotes was, If I have a thousand ideas and only one turns out to be good, I am satisfied. He was a Swedish chemist, engineer, inventor, businessman and a philanthropist. Why was dynamite made? One possible reason for Swedish engineer Alfred Nobel s invention of dynamite was the safety of construction work and blasting rock in the mid 1800s. Nobel helped build bridges in Stockholm. Nitroglycerine was used in the detonation of rock, and it was a relatively unsafe method. According to the Nobel Prize Organization, Alfred Nobel s brother Emil was killed in a nitroglycerine explosion. He wanted to make sure no one was hurt because of dangerous explosions in work. He knew construction would always be hard work and dangerous to destroy buildings by hand, so he needed something faster and more

Immediately upon seizing power, the RCC showed a willingness to brutally suppress domestic communist activities. According to Yaqub: The Truman administration was enthusiastic about the new regime...The new government expressed a desire for friendly relations with the United States and cracked down on communist activists who had taken part in the anti British disturbances, prompting Moscow to denounce the regime as reactionary. The revolutionary regime in Egypt appeared to fulfill US aspirations in the Middle East in a sense that it was sufficiently opposed to communism and at the same time appeared to have generated popular sympathy. When in the fall of 1954 Nasser stated his willingness to align with the west while seeing the USSR as the only real threat to Egypt s independence, the United States responded by providing propaganda for Nasser s regime in Egypt and the Arab world.
