Color Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Color" might seem deceptively simple at first, given the
seemingly infinite array of colors and their prevalence in our daily lives. However, delving into
the intricacies of this subject reveals a complexity that can make the task quite challenging.
The challenge arises from the need to strike a balance between the scientific, psychological, and
cultural aspects of color. One must navigate through the physics of colors, exploring concepts
such as the electromagnetic spectrum, color theory, and the interplay of light and pigments.
Simultaneously, delving into the psychology of color adds another layer of complexity, as one
must consider the emotional and cultural associations attached to different colors.
Furthermore, the historical and cultural dimensions of color demand thorough research and
understanding. Colors often carry specific meanings and symbolism across different societies and
epochs, making it essential to contextualize their significance within the scope of the essay. This
necessitates a keen eye for detail and an ability to weave a coherent narrative that encompasses
diverse perspectives.
The challenge intensifies when attempting to make the essay engaging and accessible to a
broader audience. Striking the right balance between technical details and relatable content is
crucial. The task requires not only a deep understanding of the subject matter but also effective
communication skills to convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of "Color" involves navigating through a spectrum
of complexities, from scientific principles to cultural nuances. It requires a multidisciplinary
approach, combining knowledge from physics, psychology, and culture. Successfully executing
such an essay demands meticulous research, thoughtful analysis, and effective communication
skills.

The branch of science in which food science is used for manufacturing and
preservation of food products is known as food technology. It is basically the study
of physical, chemical and microbiological composition of the food. According to the
rules and regulations given by the government, the food is processed, preserved,
packaged and stored. A large variety of food products is manufactured by the food
processing industry which includes primary food material like rice and wheat
products, oil, sugar and pulses. They are processed to convert into edible form. The
various branches of food technology are:
Chemistry: Contents of the material, color, changes observed during processing
storage, flavor of the food stuff.
Biology: Micro organism growth, post harvest storage, spoilage, food Poisoning
Engineering: Processing Technology, packaging, mixing.
Nutrition: Health and safety issues, labels.

Salt Late City Law History Essay
Salt Late City Law History
Salt Lake City looks like a very large well organised city, there are fair house
allotments and they were quite large. The city is a good strong planned community
with lots of residential areas. The way the city is set out it is obvious that a strong
leader who knew what he wanted has planned the city and shows through the city
that it is very disciplined. There may have been school their as well which would
have proven what a well organised city this is. There are a few large churches, which
tells us that this city is prosperous and religious.
In early mining towns there were many problems within the community, this was
mainly caused by a group called the roughs this ... Show more content on

Apart from law and order there were many other problems in mining towns. The
majority of the population were males and built their own cabins, this meant they
were probably not very good or safe. Also they did there own cooking, which
probably wasn t the best diet and probably got food poisoning often. There was an
epidemic of typhoid in fall and early winter but there were no deaths, which show
there were healthy and strong. The houses had no drains and most houses were badly
kept so the houses were most likely dirty.
The problems of law and order in early western towns can be studied using the
sources these show lots of lawlessness in towns and murdering. One source shows a
bank robbery, this is proof that the towns did not have any policing. The source
shows also that a few vigilantes on the scene, further proof that the towns were
lawless. Vigilantes were present because of the lack of law that there was in the
towns. They felt it necessary that law had to be imposed on the town other wise it
could fall apart.
Another source shows a notice from vigilantes pinned to a man hung for murder.
This is useful because it shows the vigilantes taken the law into there own hands. It
also states the reasons for the vigilantes forming, it tells us that life and security is
too sacred to not be protected so they will resort to these means even if it means

Persuasive Essay On Self Defense
Self Defense is widely known as a universal principle that allows a person to protect
themselves under appropriate circumstances; Yet appropriate circumstances goes far
beyond its counterparts. In many cases, victims are accused instead of the violator,
even though they intended to rob and/or murder. Even though many walk away
without punishment there are a ton of cases that should not be overlooked. It
sounds as if the definition is plain and simple, but what is the level of force that
goes beyond the sufficient level allowed? Most people tend to think that Self
Defense should be the last resort and should never reach the level of murder, but it
should be redefined as a mechanism acceptable when the victims life is threatened for
a reasonable cause, because many are charged for murder even though the attack was
protection from harm.
By reinforcing the government s definition of self defense, citizens would have an
easier time differentiating between a reasonable cause or deadly violence. A
reporter from CBS news speaks of 16 year old Mindy, charged of murder, Her
defense hinged on the claim that the physical and emotional abuse she says she
suffered at the hands of her father left her in such terror of him that one look from
him that night sent her over the edge . In this case, A daughter of an abusive father
was pushed past her limits and ended all of her physical and mental pain by killing
her father to protect herself. This brings up the subject of imperfect

hen a company goes global, it often doesn t realize that its strategy is a product of its
own culture. Culture influences every aspect of a company s strategy, whether at the
corporate level or the product/ brand level. For this reason, companies cannot simply
convert a national strategy into a global strategy without first understanding the
various cultural dynamics at play.
In this article, I will discuss three aspects of global strategy: the company s mission,
vision and identity, brand strategies, and communications. Drawing upon Geert

op yo Although the concept of the mission and vision are Western inventions, the
practice has been universally embraced by companies worldwide. Providing a
statement that expresses a company s strategic intent, its philosophy, values, ethics or
operational effectiveness has become standard global management practice. Yet
closer analysis of such statements reveals telling differences in content and form
across the world.
The mission statements of U.S. companies, for example, tend to be strong statements
of identity and reflect the need for consistency, performance, leadership, greatness and
growth values that are shared among cultures that score high on individualism and
cultural masculinity, and low on longterm orientation, like the United States does.
So, General Electric states: Being a reliable growth company requires consistent
execution on strategic principles that drive performance every quarter and every year.
Meanwhile, in collectivistic cultures, such as those found in Asia, social harmony is
prized and companies function more like families. What the company stands for is
more often expressed as Harmony with People, Society and the Environment, as in
the case of Toyota. Or All people, regardless of race, religion or culture, harmoniously

Violence In The Workplace Research Paper
Violence in the work place
Many people believe that violence in the work place only consists of physical
actions. Work place violence can be demonstrated through many acts. According to
researchers, violence in the workplace consists of any act where someone is being
abused, threatened, intimidated or assaulted in their place of work(Violence in
The Workplace, 2017). A few examples of these would be verbal threats,
harassment, verbal abuse or any physical harm to a worker. I have decided to
research violence in the workplace because I feel that it is a very important subject
that I myself would like to gain more knowledge on. Violence in the workplace is a
great subject that I believe everyone should know about. Also, I work at a fast food
restaurant where we are constantly dealing with customers and many coworkers. In
an environment like this, it is good to know how to identify violence in the work
place. There are many factors that can add to preventing violence in the workplace.
By law, all places of employment must contain a workplace violence protection
program. Researchers tell us that the most important component of any workplace
violence prevention program is management commitment (Violence in The
Workplace, 2017, p.5). The best form of management commitment is in a written
policy. This written policy should be created by management along with a few
workers. A few things that should be included in this written policy are any
consequences for violent acts in the workplace, multiple ways to prevent violence in
the workplace and it should also inform workers on how to properly report incidents
confidentially. For a more detailed and full list ... Show more content on

The creator of SeaChanges, Eamon Bailey, tries to sugarcoat the necessity of
having such gear when he says, There needs to be accountability. Tyrants can no
longer hide. There needs to be, and will be, documentation and accountability, and
we need to bear witness...All that happens must be known (Eggers 67). With this
device, any one is capable of hooking up a gadget anywhere they want, at any
moment, and anyone can become transparent (as the book calls it) without even
knowing it. Everything sounds idealistic so far. The common people will be able
to view their possessions, make sure everything is safe, take a vacation without
actually leaving their household, and even check up on family members on
occasion. Even a politician can wear it on their shirt and have the whole world
keep tabs on how the politician negotiates and make deals. But agreeing with
Margret Atwood with her review of the book, this can lead to a very dystopian
world, questioning How involved can corporations and government be involved
with the personal lives of individuals? (Atwood). How much involvement
government/politics and businesses has on privacy towards themselves and people
outside of their work has been an issue for many years, but it has recently became a
big issue in the world today because of Edward Snowden, former U.S. contractor of
the National Security Agency, who disclosed information of thousand classified
Donald Trump Persuasive Essay
Donald Trump does not deserve to represent our country as president. His harsh
comments he has said can sometimes be seen as racial comments. He thinks that
what he says is fair because of how bad our country is at the moment and he wants
us to open our eyes to all that is happening. Donald Trump is one to say things that
most of the time come off as a rude and racist comments to those listening to what
he has to say. A few of those times he has false claims about things he really doesn t
know the full story of. He said, I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where
thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down
(Trump, 2015). There just so happened to be a large Arab population in Jersey City,
New Jersey and they watched as the World Trade Center came down on 9/11. A
lieutenant said, . . .there are no indicators that this ever happened (Hertling, 2015).
What lieutenant General Mark Hertling said that his statements were false and that
they were not helpful to the commanders on the ground. The worst part about Donald
Trumps false claims is that his supporters actually stand by him and say that what he
saw was correct. The men and women that support all that he does from all over the

to know where this group must be. He thinks that if we were to go after the
families of the men and women in the ISIS group, we could take them down.
Everyone must care for someone in this world and even the members of ISIS are
capable of caring for their own family members. So he believes that if we take down

As companies continue to move forward, they will gain and understanding of the
importance of quality management and its relation to profits, production, and
customer satisfaction. Throughout chapter two of Managing for Quality and
Performance Excellence, multiple philosophies on how to incorporate quality into a
company are described in detail. These examples include the philosophies of great
minds such as Deming, Juran, and Crosby, as well as several other accomplished
quality professionals. While each of their approaches are different, they are all trying
to accomplish the same goal of increasing quality. It is important to understand what
makes up these different philosophies before you can choose one for your own

In many ways Juran and Deming approached quality the same way. They agreed that
there was a need to have executive management involved, continuous improvement,
and increased training. One of the biggest differences came from the psychological
side of management. Juran believed managers should instill fear in their employees,
make them scared to produce defects, while Deming believed fear would create
stress and unnecessarily hinder the production process (Evans and Lindsay 62).
Much like Juran and Deming, Phillip Crosby, a vice president of quality for
International Telephone and Telegraph, introduced his ideas and strategies for
increased quality. Crosby came up with the Absolutes of Quality Management and
the Basic Elements of Improvement. The ideas of Crosby share many similarities
with Deming and Juran. Crosby believed quality was often seen as an opinion,
what was high quality to some was seen as low quality to others. Because of this
interpretation, Crosby s first point was created to set a standard basis for measuring
quality. He noted that, Quality means conformance to requirements, not elegance
(Evans and Lindsay 63). For Crosby, quality became a measure of how closely a
product met requirements. Crosby was also a large fan of craftsmen and wanted

How To Escape From Cell To Cell
The world is filled with millions of people, at some point in someone s day they
have some type of interaction with someone else. There are people who want to
escape from people but it is their choice and at any giving moment they can be

choice to be hidden from social interactions and being a functional person in
society. These people all have different experiences either they were mental or
physical abused as a child and never really learned what it was like to interact with
another person. Or maybe society has turned their back on them either for a
criminal history or a financial one. Society has a way of turning their back on
people if they don t live up to societies standards. For example, when someone
commits a crime they can be subjected to prison time and depending on the crime
they could be placed in prison. In some cases, these prisoners are placed in a
solitary prison where they are locked up for a majored of the day. In an extremely

Literary Analysis Of A Rose For Emily By William Faulkner
1
Literary Analysis on A Rose For Emily by William Faulkner William Faulkner has
done a wonderful work in his essay A Rose for Emily. Faulkner uses symbols,
settings, character development, and other literary devices to express the life of
Emily and the behavior of the people of Jefferson town towards her. By reading the
essay, the audience cannot really figure out who the narrator is. It seems like the
narrator can be the town s collective voice. The fact that the narrator uses collective
pronoun we supports the theory that the narrator is describing the life of Miss
Emily on behalf of the townspeople. Faulkner has used the flashback device in his
essay to make it more interesting. The story begins with the portrayal of Emily s
funeral and it moves to her past and at the end the readers realize that the funeral is a
flashback as well. The story starts with the death of Miss Emily when he was seventy
four years old and it takes us back when she is a young and attractive girl. Faulkner
has characterized all the characters in the best possible way. Emily Grierson, Homer
Barron, Judge Stevens the mayor of Jefferson, Mr. Grierson Emily s father, Tobe
Emily s servant, and Colonel Sartoris a former mayor of Jefferson are the major
charters in the story. The narrator describes Emily as a monument, but with a lot of
negativity. The story shows us how she was a smart young girl and then how she
end up being an overprotective and secretive old woman. She refused to accept the
change when her father died and that s why she kept telling all the people in town
that her father is still alive. Homer Barron is much like Emily. Like Emily, Homer
is an outsider and becomes the topic of gossip. The narrator describes Homer as a
big man with dark complexion with a good sense of humor. Tobe s character in the
story plays an important role. He is a loyal and dutiful servant. He cared for Emily
till she died, but he walked out of the back door and never returned after Emily s
death. Mr. Grierson was a well maintained person. When he was alive, Emily s
house was always beautifully maintained. He earned a lot of respect in the society
but when he died the respect towards his family died with him. Faulkner uses

To What Extent is CSR Beneficial to a Company s Performance?
Corporate social responsibility (CSR), which is a popular debate topic over decades,
has divided into five major dimensions over time. They are known as the stakeholder
dimension, the social dimension, the economic dimension, the voluntariness
dimension and the environmental dimension in research (Dahlsrud, 2008). The
relationship between CSR and company s performance, which is classified as the
stakeholder dimension, aroused a controversial discussion among different research
studies. Some research reported positive relationship in CSR and company s
performance (Mirvis, 2012), some research found negative results (Karnani, 2010),

In this way, those impact brought by those omitted aspects would be included in the
CSR s relationship with company s performance by mistake.
Despite the influence of omitted factors, CSR neither benefit nor harm company s
performance. For those cases reported positive relationship above, they are very
likely to be the result of a good marketing strategy and aggressive advertisement (for
restaurant and airlines), successful management (for employees willingness to work
in a responsible company), an efficient R amp;D and politic strategies (for DuPont
s case), etc. However, research reaching a negative relationship can also be blamed
to other stuffs related to CSR, rather than CSR itself. For example, the agency
problem appears when there s a conflict between company s goal and the agent s
personal goal, not only in CSR; and the profit issue is just a matter of choice. Thus,
while measuring CSR s influence on company s performance, we should first identify
or select the dimensions of corporate social responsibility (Ruf, 1998, as cited in
Foote, Gaffney, amp;Evans, 2010). Nothing can we truly measure before a clear
identification. After a clear identification, we will be able to figure out whether it is
the impact brought by CSR, and therefore eliminate the interference from R amp;D,
advertising, or political efforts, etc.

Analysis Of Charles Dickens s Dickens
Does One s Environment Have the Ability to Blacken the Soul?
With difficulty, on her knees, drew from her bosom a white handkerchief Rose
May lie s own and holding it up, in her folded hands, as high towards Heaven as her
feeble strength would allow, breathed one [last] prayer for mercy towards her Maker
(Oliver Twist, Dickens 302 revised). Throughout Oliver Twist, Charles Dickensuses
his characters and props to symbolize purity, even though the environment would
seem to denote everything and everyone. Incontro vertibly, some certainly conform to
their environment; for example, as part of the lower class, Fagin and Sikes turn to
thieving, lying, and even murder, instead of earning an honest living. Throughout the
first half of the book, Dickens leads one to believe Nancy follows the same pat tern.
However, as the plot develops, the reader s theories and opinions transform.
Continuing on, the reader will find the answer to the dispute Dickens constantly toys
with; does one s environ ment have the ability to blacken the soul and affect one s
choices?
Charles Dickens was born in Portsmouth, on the Southern coast of England. He was
brought up in a poor household so indebted that his father, John Dickens, was sent
to jail. In 1827, at the age of 15, Dickens was working, attending the theater, and
taking acting lessons. In 1836 (age 24), Dickens published his very first book
entitled Sketches by Boz. This was the be ginning. Dickens flourished in his new

The Dramaturgical Theory By Erving Goffman
Erving Goffman lived from 1922 until 1983, where he spent his time as an American
sociologist. Goffman scrutinized abnormal situations and institutions like the
following: mental hospitals, gambling, social encounters, etc. He did this to reveal
the state of society and its existence upholding normal life. Goffman developed a
concept called the Dramaturgical Theory. The following writing will explain the
theory and its foundations, as well as how groups engaged in impression
management: athletes, college instructors, parents, physicians, and politicians. I will
write on what the deemed image of these groups want to present to their individual
audience, as well as how they achieve that goal. To begin, the Dramaturgical Theory is

Another, college instructors also engage in Impression Management every day. If
the teacher is lazy, dull, and unreliable then they are most likely to be fired and
given a bad reference and may even have consequences. Being a teacher, there are
standards like: the ability to engage students, maintaining great communication, and
having proficient knowledge on the subject that is being taught. There are
incentives for teachers to be professional and able to successfully educate students
enough to pass their class. Some of the incentives are yearly bonuses, gift cards,
and other rewards. When being recognized as a star teacher, the teacher appears as
a: well educated, disciplined, and very skilled educator. Notably, parents conform
their own identities with the shape of the impressions others have of them by means
of their children s appearances and behavior. If their child goes to school in ripped
and dirty clothing, then the parent is viewed as neglecter or abuser. If a child bullies
other children by hitting them or assaulting them in any way, then the parent is
viewed as lazy and undisciplined. Parents will also engage in Impression Management
with something simple as selective association with other groups or individuals such
as: day cares, playgroups, or other parents. Parents will often speak of day cares,
playgroups, and other parents with one another and use that opportunity to relay that
information that could influence the parent that
My Personal Identity
Typically for most teenagers, it is difficult to define who they are as a person... but
not for me. I would not define myself in any particular context. I strive for the
things I want in life, and do what it takes to accomplish my goals. There are
multiple categories I particularly focus on for my own benefits such as, where I
have chosen to attend college and the field I portray interest in majoring, how
athletics have impacted my life, and the reflection of who I have been throughout
my seventeen years of life. When analyzing those topics, I reflect on my past and
use it as a reference for how I would like my future to turn out. Throughout my life,
I have had the ability to move over thirteen times, attend nine schools, and engage
in the world s diversity and different scenery when doing so.[E. Real life]
Ultimately when traveling and moving to various places, fashion has been the one
thing that tends to catch my eye. Between both traveling and fashion I have chosen
to major in International Business and become a buyer for fashion. Why do I
admire fashion so much? I believe fashion is showing who you are without the
expression of voice. Being able to have the ability to travel around the world
selecting and purchasing various pieces of clothing, and trying to sell the items to
large retailers by using my voice of persuasion excites me.[DT: Question and

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Water Bladders
The advantage of using the hydration bladder
Carrying water along with us can be a little tricky in conditions where lightness
matters because we have struggled to find the right balance between a light
alternative for water bottles and a medium to keep it durable enough to take a beating
in the tough conditions outside. This is what helped in developing the ultimate light
and durable outdoor kit for carrying water easily.
The development aided the creation of the first ever hydration water bladder which
is one of the best ways through which one can easily carry a good amount of water
while on the go. This bladder consists of a tough exterior which is designed to take a
lot of impacts as well as withstand the extremities of the climate and ... Show more

It compiles the best of all factors such as lightness, on account of its feather light
profile, it even has a capacity of two liters and comes with a straw through which the
individual can drink.
The whole thing including the straw are made using very durable materials and the
purpose is one, durability. The hydration bladder has been extensively tested in very
tough environments before it was put up for sale in the first place. This altogether
has helped the product in achieving success with the customers because they can
always rely on this product easily.
The water bladder employs a very tough construction both inside and out in the
name of durability and insulation so the user can add either hot or cold water in it
and it will still remain the same without any regard to the exterior condition. This
extensive layering process has also helped the product attain a good amount of
strength to prevent any kind of leaks from inside.
This is advantageous to the users since they don t need to worry about leaks at all, it
even has two shut off valves and place for thermal taping to maintain
Camera Lucida Analysis
The Indexical Experience in Camera Lucida
Roland Barthes analysis of the photograph in Camera Lucida is based on his
introspective experience with photography s appearance. The book consists of
reflections of emotions felt during his experiences, which essentially defines a
phenomenological approach. Phenomenology, according to David Woodruff Smith,
is concerned with the things as they appear in our experience...thus the meanings
things have in our experience (Smith). For photography, the appearance of the
photograph is produced through the physical relationship between the referent
photographed and how it is imprinted in film. Therefore, in the experience of a
photograph for Barthes, the sign is determined by that physical relationship.
Although, Barthes analysis of the photograph includes both indexical and iconic
aspects, this paper seeks to argue that the indexical aspect of a photograph is the
prominent sign of the photograph because of Barthes phenomenological approach to
photography. To be clear, I am analyzing how Barthes perceives photography as
indexical from his phenomenological approach and proving how it serves the
indexical sign.
First, we must consider how Barthes speaks of indexicality when describing the
Camera Lucida s purpose, which he says is to find the noeme of photography. He
eventually concludes that the noeme is the undeniability of that has been , which
refers to the indexical truthfulness of what has physically been in front of the camera.

The Effects Of Popular Energy Drinks On Young Adults
And...
Popular energy drinks, such as Rockstar, 5 Hour Energy, and Monster are consumed
by individuals, as a way to remain cognizant, as well as alert, throughout their day.
Many of the people consuming these drinks are young adults and teenagers. These
people are oftentimes overwhelmed and busy. The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention website, states, Energy drinks are beveragesthat typically contain caffeine,
other plant based stimulants, simple sugars, and other additives. They are very
popular among young people and are regularly consumed by 31% of 12 to 17 year
olds and 34% of 18 to 24 year olds (CDC, 2015, p. 1). These statistics show the ages
of people consuming these products and prove that it is mostly young people.
Individuals might feel the need to consume an energy drinkbefore a sports match,
work, school, homework, or any task which requires them to be mentally, as well as
physically alert. There are many different types of energy drinks people can consume
and these beverages have similar ingredients. An advantage to these drinks, would be
that an individual accomplishes their goal for the day, because they were given the
energy to do so. There are also certain health benefits that might occur, due to these
drinks. For example, they have ingredients that might protect against some illnesses.
However, people who consume these drinks might not know that they could be
risking their overall health. The Food and Drug Administration has all three of these

The Political Career of Daniel Webster Essay
The Political Career of Daniel Webster
Daniel Webster contributed a large potion of the Civil War. To begin, he was born
in Salisbury, New Hampshire on January 18, 1782. His parents were farmers so
many people didn t know what to expect of him. Even though his parents were
farmers, he still graduated from Dartmouth College in 1801. After he learned to be a
lawyer, Daniel Webster opened a legal practice in
Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1807.
Webster quickly became an experienced and very good lawyer and a
Federalist party leader. In 1812, Webster was elected to the U.S. House of

Replying to South Carolina s Robert
Hayne in a Senate debate in 1830, Webster triumphantly defended the Union states
by a very powerful but short speech. He said, Liberty and Union, now and forever,
one and inseparable, made him a favorite and made him well known among many
people worldwide.
Webster and President Andrew Jackson joined forces in 1833 to try to change South
Carolina s attempt to nullify the tariff, but Webster and the
Whigs battled him on other issues including his attack on the National Bank. Webster
ran for the presidency in the election of 1836 as one of the three
Whig candidates, but he mostly only Massachusetts voted for him so he lost badly
because no one else voted for him. For the rest of his career he tried very hard to
get to the presidency and ran in many elections hoping to get his shot at the office,
but it never happened and he failed every time. In 1841, Daniel Webstercame close
to his idea of President but was only named secretary. President William Henry
Harrison appointed him to this position. When he got killed in April 1841, John Tyler
was brought to the presidency. In September 1841, all the Whigs resigned from the
cabinet except Webster. He remained to settle an argument with Great Britain having
to do with the Maine Canada boundary and he wanted to finish the
Webster Ashburn Treaty, which he finally did in 1842. The Whigs finally pressured

Biography of Martha Graham Essay example
Biography of Martha Graham
Martha Graham was known as the mother of American dance. She was born on May
11,
1894 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. At fourteen she moved with her family to
California and began dancing. The first dance recital she saw was in Los Angeles,
California by choreographer and dance pioneer, Ruth St. Denis. When Graham was
twenty two years old she joined the Denishawn school and dance troupe. The school
of Ruth St. Denis and
Ted Shawn had a great impact on Graham s idea of dance. Graham used different
dance traditions in her works to create a Neo classical dance style. She believed that
movement originated in the tension of a contracted muscle and continued in the flow
of energy released from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this, she played a virgin, who represented the independent woman. She danced in
Primitive Mysteries after she visited the American
Southwest in 1931. Graham s interest in the American theme began after the dance.
After
Primitive Mysteries she continued to stick with the American theme. The most
influential American themed dances were Appalachian Spring, American
Document and Frontier. The American Document was a dance that used the Bible as
well as the Declaration of Independence as inspiration. There was more speaking in
this show than in any other. The narrator spoke alternate lines from the sermons of
the Bible. The narrator also spoke about American History including passages from
The Declaration of
Independence.
Appalachian Spring was one of her most famous shows. The American Theme is
portrayed in this dance, through the marriage of an American couple, beginning
their lives together on the American Frontier. The dance was popular when it was
introduced to the public and is still known as one of her best pieces today. The
Frontier was the first of the American Theme. It was a solo performance
choreographed and danced by Graham. The Frontier was the first time she used Isamu
Noguchi to sculpt her set. It was the first time a sculptor was used in modern dance.
The set he designed captured the vastness of the American Frontier. Graham was not
the only dancer and choreographer of her time. Alwin Nikolais

effective in inducing more physical activity in the high intensity visit as compared
to the low intensity visit. The SRM values for the Actical accelerometer were at or

Literary Analysis Of Amores Perros
Come to Clarity
Typically, photographs are considered nothing more than tangible items that invoke
nostalgia. Having a character ponder over a photo typically gives the image no more
value than a McGuffin. Alejandro GonzГЎlez IГ±ГЎrritu s Amores Perros (2000) on
the other hand, asks the viewer to re evaluate the concept of the photograph both
literally and figuratively throughout the film. The meaning of a photograph can be
considered the glue on this story; the symbol is dynamic enough to provide each
character with a moment of reflection, and the audience a window into the
subjective perspective at the peak of a character s diegesis. Using the photograph
loosely in this fashion allows it to be one of the key elements to tie together three
radically different stories, despite the symbol s lack of dedicated screen time.
Before diving into each individual character s world, it helps to look at the
background of the new, circa 2000, director Alejandro IГ±ГЎrritu. Alejandro started
his career with a passion for music working with radio; that original passion is visible
throughout Amores Perros as sound is used to articulate the set space and time. Sound
mimics patterns found throughout the story and Alejandro frequently positions it to
juxtaposition the narrative. With that being in mind there are few scenes where we
are met with no background noise, and no dialogue. Looking at these we can see
Alejandro graces the film with three powerful character defining images, each

Juvenile Justice And The Criminal Justice System
Juveniles have always been a touchy subject in the criminal justice system. Many
would argue that they deserve to be treated and sentenced as adults while others
believe that they can be rehabilitated and changed into fully functioning members of
society. Florida has established a Juvenile Detention Alternatives initiative in order
to support the vision that all juvenile justice offenders would have opportunities
put in place to develop them into law abiding adults. This initiative uses core
strategies and decision making skills based on data driven policies and practices
that will reduce secure detention placements and promote healthy lifestyles for the
youth while also enhancing public safety. A program established by the Department
of Juvenile Justice in Florida hopes to do just that. Intensive Delinquency Diversion
Services, also referred to as the IDDS, is offered to youth who are first time
offenders. This intense community and home based intervention hopes to deter
offenders from becoming lifelong criminals. This paper will give a brief
background the program, a summary and description of the program, a theory that
supports the program, and finally policy implications of the IDDS program.
Background: Florida s initiative to keep youth offenders out of the formal criminal
justice system has given life to many new programs offered to juveniles. This
alternative initiative was launched in 1992. It hopes to move low risk offenders from
detention centers and juveniles

The Power of Habit
First off, we are creatures. We are animals. We re very sophisticated and good
looking and all that, but let s never forget that we re made of flesh and blood. In
particular, our brains are incredibly complex evolved machines. Our brains govern
basic processes such as breathing and food intake, and also enable us to appreciate
the finer points of John Cleeses performances in Fawlty Towers.
As creatures, we have needs. We need to eat, and so we eat. As rather intelligent
and social creatures, we like to chat with one another, and so we do. We take turns
and finish our conversations gracefully. And there are dozens and dozens more
behaviors that are just as complicated, if not more so. How on Earth do we get all of
this done?

No writer feels like he is writing enough. We all watch too much television, spend too
much time on Facebook, or waste our writing time doing other things. For beginning
writers, the problem is especially acute. With no editor giving a deadline, no fans
clamoring for the next installment, and no writing income, there is literally no
incentive to write at least not consistently. Beginners might write when they are
inspired, but with so many other things pulling them away from the writing desk,
how can they stick with it for the months and years it takes to carve out a writing
career?
On the other hand, most professional writers write every day. Not because they are
inspired more often, not because they have more free time, and not because they are
neglecting other parts of their lives. Pros write every day for one simple yet
powerful reason. They ve made it a habit.
We tend to think of habits as bad (smoking, cussing, biting your fingernails) but
they can also be good (walking the dog, oatmeal for breakfast, a weekly date with
your spouse). THE POWER OF HABIT shows how easily habits form. They rely
on three simple things a cue, a routine, and a reward and don t take long to stick.
Our brains love habits. They allow us to be efficient. They help us do things like
drive a car without constant self monitoring. Once we learn where the brake pedal is

What Are The Challenges Of A Senior Team Leader
Introduction:
The World Health Organization (WHO) is one of the United Nations (UN)
agencies. WHO is working in 150 countries with the mission to provide a healthier
life (WHO 2016). The WHO s working strategy is to work with governments and
other local and international partners to achieve their mutual health related goals
(WHO 2016). To obtain these goals, strong leadership skills and understanding of the
local problems is critical for anyone in a decision making position. Mendenhall et al
(2012) deliberated that leaders who lead teams at an international level must have the
capability to bring change in the organization by not only creating strong linkages
within their teams, but also involve with internal and external stakeholders, including
counterparts, other leaders, the people from the various governments and
organizations they work with. This requires cross cultural understanding and the
ability to work within and across different sectors. For example, not only health, but
also governance and education.
This paper examines the challenges (which may be) experienced by an official who
is recently appointed as a senior team leader in the WHO in Geneva, during the first
thirty days of leaders engagement. A leader needs to focus on four domains 1) creating
Character Analysis on Nunnally Johnson in The Grape of

The Grape of Wrath is one of the best known representations of the depression and
the things that people went through. It focuses on the Joad family, a small family
that is forced out of their home. Because of the large family they have with them,
they have to head west in hopes of finding jobs. After a long difficult journey, the
finally reach California after finding a bill looking for workers. They go through
many different trials while the men try to find jobs, and the son, Tom Joad is haunted
by the past he thought that he left behind. All of the characters are very well
developed and they all have pros and cons. The best character in Grapes of Wrath, by
Nunnally Johnson, is Ma Joad because she is strong, kind, and determined. Ma Joad
is the best character in Grapes, by Johnson, because she is strong. The scene that
Ma shows most how strong she is is when she and Tom say goodbye. Tom has to
leave because his past is haunting him and he is terrified of getting his familyin
trouble or hurt. The night he leaves, he tries to sneak out without saying goodbye to
anyone, but he accidentally wakes up Ma. They go outside and talk. Ma is crying
and hugging him but admits that she always knew that he would have to leave. Tom
and Ma are really close through the whole movie, so it is one of the hardest things
ever for her to just let him leave. She shows her strength by letting him go because
she knows that it is the best thing for him and the family. She understands that having

Ecclesiastes Word Vanity Essay
In the book of Ecclesiastes, the word vanity is used almost thirty five times,
compared to approximately twenty five times elsewhere in the Old Testament
(Meek, n.d.). Furthermore, when a single word is used multiple times throughout a
book in the Bible such as the word vanity, it is important to understand the word s
contextual meaning to determine the biblical significance of the word vanity.
Subsequently, in other books of the Bible the words vain, vanity, and vanities, are
primarily associated with emptiness, worthlessness, wickedness, falseness, or a
breath (Meek, n.d.). Therefore, in the analysis of the word vanity within the book of
Ecclesiastes, I believe it is important to ascertain the identity of the person suspected
of authoring this book to assist in the comprehension of the word vanity.
Consequently, the author of book of Ecclesiastes was a teacher of wisdom and in

Additionally, Qoheleth s message in the book of Ecclesiastes can be simply
summarized as life is hard and humankind will never understand the fulfillment of life
regardless of where they chose to seek happiness whether it is in work, pleasure,
wisdom, wealth, and status (Longman, 2009). Moreover, the author is portraying
humankind does not have a chance to understand the vanities of life before their
death (Longman, 2009). Next, as we continue to understand the word vanity within
the book of Ecclesiastes, many Christians interpret Qoheleth s emphasis on vanity or
meaninglessness as a conclusion about a life without a God (Ortlund, 2013). Thus,
Qoheleth s usage of the word vanity is synonymous with how he portrays life as
under the sun and human accomplishment; therefore, no matter how hard we work
the impact of lives dies with us in our grave (Ortlund,

also to keep the cost down on a limited and expensive resource. Soil moisture sensors
are often used for precision irrigationcontrol purposes. However, soil moisture
sensors can only assess the degree of water deficit stress that is imposed to the
plants, but not necessarily the level of water deficit stress that is actually experienced
by the plants (Sinclair and Ludlow, 1985). An assessment of leaf water content, on the
other hand, may yield more detailed insight into the plant s actual physiological
response to a certain degree of low soil moisture content, and how water deficit
stress is in fact experienced by the plant. Leaf water content is a key indicator of
plant health, vigor and photosynthetic efficiency (Harry, 2006). Accurate retrieval of
plant water content plays a crucial role in assessing drought risk (Bauer et al.,
1986), select genotypes in breeding for water stress (Munjal and Dhanda, 2005),
predicting wildfire and monitoring the physiological condition of vegetation
(PeГ±uelas and Filella, 1998) and biomass (Cho et al., 2007; Mutanga et al., 2005;
Ullah et al., 2012c), while in the agriculture domain it helps in scheduling
Gender, Sexual, And Gender
Sex refers to a person s biological status and is typically categorized as male, female
or intersex. There are a number of indicators of biological sex, including sex
chromosomes, gonads, internal reproductive organs and external genitalia (Anon
2012). Sex is typically categorized by either male or female. Your sex is your sex and
there isn t much you can do to change that. We are unable to alter our genetic
makeup which has a great deal to do with our sex. Every individual is either a maleor
a female but your genderis somewhat up to you. Your gender can vary and change
over time. It could have a different meaning depending on the culture, a geographic
location, or even a specific group of individuals. Gender refers to the... Show more

But in today s society, your sex only determines your external genitalia, not who
you truly are. Your sex is a physical aspect of your body, while you sex category and
gender is your mental aspect. Once you consider yourself or placed yourself into a
sex category, you take on the roles of that sex. Some even take it as far taking on
the features and dressing like their gender preference. You see this in many
homosexual individuals. Males acting and dressing like females and females acting
and dressing like males. According to the sex role theory, we acquire our gender
identity through socialization, and afterward we are socialized to behave in
masculine or feminine ways (Kimmel 2000:131). Society basically shows individuals
how to masculine or feminine, whether it is a man being masculine or feminine or a
woman being feminine or masculine.
Doing gender is performing the activities and exhibiting the traits that are prescribed
for us. A person s gender is not simply an aspect of what one is, but, more
fundamentally, it is something that one does, and does recurrently, in interaction
with others (Kimmel 2000:131). You can appear to be a male or a female, but your
actions may appear of the opposite sex. Heterosexual men, for example, who identify
with their sex but not the social characteristics typically associated with dominant
masculinity, may find that they are bullied and not considered to be a proper
2x 3 Categories Of Stress
Students were asked about how anxious they were and then were randomly
assigned to drink a coffee provided. They were then given a survey before their
exam. The 2x3 between subjects experiment is caffeine use (caffeinated,
decaffeinated) and anxiety levels (low, medium, high) on a student s stress levels
before an exam. The survey had some demographic questions and had five questions
for each category of stress that they rated on a 10 point Likert scale. The categories
of stress are physical, emotional and psychological stress.
So you would first input the data into excel with the IV1 is having two levels, so
you would have a number like 1 for caffeinated and 2 for the decaffeinated product
given. You would have the next IV2 with three levels: low is 1, the medium is 2
and high is 3. Then you would have a variable for each of the questions as well as
for each of the demographic questions. The demographic questions were age, gender,
how long they have been in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you did not add 100 subject numbers in excel, then put in the 100 subject numbers
into SPSS now. Next, run frequencies on all the variables. Open analysis tab, go
down to descriptive statistics and go into frequencies. Have all the variables selected
and run a display frequency table. Then you look at the output file looking at the
listed valid and missing values to find the holes. Every time you manually enter in
data, you should run a frequency on the variables again. Correct the issues that
present with logical out of range values addressing the empty missing data in the
file. Remove subjects that have no logical way to analysis the data or where the
logical problem cannot be ignored. When you removed or changed your data, look
at your file again by running a frequency test again. Save the file under a different
name after you have finished removing all the subjects. Say we ended up removing
10 subjects, dropping the subject number to
Philippine Christmas
Philippine Christmas
The Philippines is known as the Land of Fiestas, and at Christmas time, this is
especially true. Filipinos are proud to proclaim their Christmas celebration to be the
longest and merriest in the world. It begins formally on December 16 with attendance
at the first of nine pre dawn or early morning masses and continues on nonstop until
the first Sunday of January, Feast of the Three Kings, the official end of the season.
The Philippines is the only Asian country where Christians predominate. Majority of
its people are Roman Catholic. Christmas, therefore, is an extremely important and
revered holiday for most Filipinos. It is a time for family, for sharing, for giving, and
a time for food, fun, and friendship. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some families may choose to exchange gifts at this time; others wait until Christmas
day.
In general, the center of a family s Christmas gathering is always the lola, the
endearing term used for a family matriarch or grandmother, who is deeply
respected, highly revered, and always present. Filipinos remember how their lola
had their children form a line and step up to receive a small gift of some coins. The
older the child, the more coins he or she receives.
Some families have a talent show during Christmas Eve celebration. Children are
asked to perform. One might sing a Christmas song, others might play a musical
instrument, or others may recite a poem or do a dance. The celebration continues
until about 6 o clock in the morning. Those who cannot attend Mass the night before
will go to the morning Mass on Christmas day.
Christmas day is a popular day for children to visit their uncles, aunts, godmothers,
and godfathers. At each home they are presented with a gift, usually candy, money,
or a small toy. Food and drinks are also offered at each stop. It is a day of family
closeness, and everyone wishes good cheer and glad tidings.
Philippines celebrate Christmas like no other in the Asian nation. It is the only
country that its people are Christian. We celebrate Christmas very religiously
compare celebrating in America, which is mostly about Santa Clause and giving
gifts. My country
The United States Needs Criminal Justice Reform
The United States needs criminal justice reform. Criminal justice reform is a type of
reform that is aimed at fixing errors in the criminal justice system. Some of the goals
of criminal justice reform is trying to decrease the United States prison population,
reducing sentences for low level crimes, eliminating mandatory minimum sentences
for low level drug offenders, and end harsh policies and racial inequalities in the
justice system.
According to the Illinois state commission on criminal justice and sentencing reform,
Illinois s rate of incarceration has increased by 500% in the last forty years mostly
within minority citizens. There are 2.4 million Americans that are behind bars. The
United States has one of the highest crime rates ... Show more content on

Every penny they use go towards meeting their basic needs but they are still held
responsible for the excessive costs of incarceration and services within the institution.
Any payment should be restitution for their victims not towards the system.
There is an undoubted race element, too. In 2010, black people were five times
more likely to be incarcerated, and those figures are unlikely to have improved
since then (Holder). The war on drugs have affected mostly poor black communities
of color even though black people are just as likely as whites to sell and use illegal
drugs.
Prisoners are, by and large, people who have been failed. According to the Prison
Reform Trust, 62% of male and 52% of female prisoners have at least one
personality disorders. Many people incarcerated are people with mental health
issues. According to the American Psychiatric Association, on any given day,
between 2.3 and 3.9 percent of inmates in state prisons are estimated to have
schizophrenia or other psychotic disorder; between 13.1 and 18.6 percent have
major depression; and between 2.1 and 4.3 percent suffer from bipolar disorder
(Holder). American jails have become mental health facilities. This is not what a
prison should be used for.
The United States criminal justice system is not working. We throw the criminals
into the system and forget about them. There is little to no effort to reintegrate them
into society. According to a report from HM Inspectorate
Herbal Supplements Essay
Herbal Supplements and Drugs Interactions
KimHang Phan
Molloy College
Herbal Supplements and Drugs Interactions The clear definition of an herbal
supplement is defined by The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994
(DSHEA) as a product not a drug. The product contains vitamins, minerals, amino
acids, herbs, and dietary constituents for use to supplement the diet ( Using Dietary
Supplements Wisely, 2014). Like medications, dietary supplements exert both
negative and positive effects to the body. Supplements may improve health but they
also produce the potential harmful if interacting with certain drugs. For this reason,
dietary supplements are regulated by FDA to ensure both safety and effectiveness ...

The 2007 NHIS also found the following:
American Indian or Alaska Native adults (50.3%) and white adults (43.1%) were
more likely to use CAM than Asian adults (39.9%) or black adults (25.5%). Children
whose parent used CAM were almost five times as likely (23.9%) (Barnes et al.,
2008, p.1).
Because natural products or herbal remedies become prevalent usage among adults
in America, it is very important to acknowledge if an herbal product is safe or
useful for certain health conditions and its potential interaction with other drugs
causing toxicity. For example, evening primrose oil may interact with
anticoagulants and antiplatelet medications ( VP PRECIP , 2014). Bayles (2009)
stated that the seeds of the evening primrose are rich in omega 6 essential fatty acids
(EFAs), including linoleic acid and gamma linolenic acid (GLA) (p.1405). Omega 6
EFAs and GLA contain some properties, which help to reduce inflammatory. Evening
primrose oil (Oenothera biennis) is a native North American plant. Evening primrose
oil (EPO) is commonly use in breast pain, premenstrual symptoms (PMS),
menopausal, cancer, asthma, diabetes, and other chronic inflammatory diseases such
as rheumatoid arthritis and eczema (Bayles, 2009). EPO is well tolerated by most
individuals. Some people reported a mild stomach upset, abdominal pain, nausea.
EPO should not
Malt-O-Meal Factory Business Analysis
Our trip to Malt O Meal factory (Campbell factory) was very interesting. I learned a
lot about mass production food factories. In addition, learning about quality
control and safety measures helped me gain a greater appreciation for the safe
packaged food I consume on a regular basis. I learned that malt o meal originally
started as MOM brands in Owatonna. The branch in Northfield opened in 1961
and is called the Campbell factory. The factory employs 690 workers. The average
time at the company is 15 years. I don t know food industry so I would like context
for if this is a relatively high or low retention rate. This plant alone makes over 1
million pounds of cereal per year. Additionally they have the ability to make many
types of cereals.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is done through the ATP test. ATP is a source of energy for all living
organisms. Thus by testing for it we can get an estimate for the number of
organisms living on a surface. She demonstrated this principle with Finely and I.
We both had our hands swabbed before His (2,400) Mine (680). Then we were
aloud to wash our hands His (210) Mine was down to (68). Both of us would have
passed as clean equiptment. I enjoyed listening to the job description as a food
scientist/ engineer. It sounds like a cross between a lot of administrative meetings
(making sure regulations and laws are met) and being an engineer (constantly
working on projects for the most efficient outcome). I am curious to know if St.
Olaf sends many alumni into the food science masters programs or has anyone
currently employed in a similar job. The conclusion of the presentation was great.
We learned that workers at malt o meal can take 3 bags of cereal a day. I wonder how
much each bag actually costs to produce? It must not be anywhere close to the $6
per bag it is sold for in the store. I really appreciated the Honey Nut Scooters I got at
the end of the day. This cereal is going to be the perfect snack during finals and senior

The throne room of Wolf s Head sat just inside the main entrance had a large high
wood beam ceiling and small windows ran along the top of the wall, on the walls
were the banners of Wolfs Head as well a painting of every hero who came from the
kingdom.
Behind the throne was the head of an abnormally large wolf that gave the city its
name, the throne itself was made of carved stone and was a gift from the dwarfs of
Ironhammer, and sat upon it was Loken Grenford, King of the North and leader of
the rebellion.
Loken was built like a lion, he had locks of auburn hair that flowed like a mane, his

As Amaleh left the keep, Brakan walked in front of the throne, why he said looking

Did you not see her smile, Loken replied as he looked up at Brakan, she has not
smiled like that since her mother died, he then looked down at the door as Vartan

The city is a good strong planned community with lots of residential areas. The way the city is set out it is obvious that a strong leader who knew what he wanted has planned the city and shows through the city that it is very disciplined. There may have been school their as well which would have proven what a well organised city this is. There are a few large churches, which tells us that this city is prosperous and religious. Apart from law and order there were many other problems in mining towns. The majority of the population were males and built their own cabins, this meant they were probably not very good or safe. Also they did there own cooking, which probably wasn t the best diet and probably got food poisoning often. There was an epidemic of typhoid in fall and early winter but there were no deaths, which show there were healthy and strong. The houses had no drains and most houses were badly kept so the houses were most likely dirty. The problems of law and order in early western towns can be studied using the sources these show lots of lawlessness in towns and murdering. One source shows a bank robbery, this is proof that the towns did not have any policing. The source shows also that a few vigilantes on the scene, further proof that the towns were lawless. Vigilantes were present because of the lack of law that there was in the towns. They felt it necessary that law had to be imposed on the town other wise it could fall apart. Another source shows a notice from vigilantes pinned to a man hung for murder. This is useful because it shows the vigilantes taken the law into there own hands. It also states the reasons for the vigilantes forming, it tells us that life and security is too sacred to not be protected so they will resort to these means even if it means killing
  • 10. Persuasive Essay On Self Defense Self Defense is widely known as a universal principle that allows a person to protect themselves under appropriate circumstances; Yet appropriate circumstances goes far beyond its counterparts. In many cases, victims are accused instead of the violator, even though they intended to rob and/or murder. Even though many walk away without punishment there are a ton of cases that should not be overlooked. It sounds as if the definition is plain and simple, but what is the level of force that goes beyond the sufficient level allowed? Most people tend to think that Self Defense should be the last resort and should never reach the level of murder, but it should be redefined as a mechanism acceptable when the victims life is threatened for a reasonable cause, because many are charged for murder even though the attack was protection from harm. By reinforcing the government s definition of self defense, citizens would have an easier time differentiating between a reasonable cause or deadly violence. A reporter from CBS news speaks of 16 year old Mindy, charged of murder, Her defense hinged on the claim that the physical and emotional abuse she says she suffered at the hands of her father left her in such terror of him that one look from him that night sent her over the edge . In this case, A daughter of an abusive father was pushed past her limits and ended all of her physical and mental pain by killing her father to protect herself. This brings up the subject of imperfect

  • 13. Violence In The Workplace Research Paper Violence in the work place Many people believe that violence in the work place only consists of physical actions. Work place violence can be demonstrated through many acts. According to researchers, violence in the workplace consists of any act where someone is being abused, threatened, intimidated or assaulted in their place of work(Violence in The Workplace, 2017). A few examples of these would be verbal threats, harassment, verbal abuse or any physical harm to a worker. I have decided to research violence in the workplace because I feel that it is a very important subject that I myself would like to gain more knowledge on. Violence in the workplace is a great subject that I believe everyone should know about. Also, I work at a fast food restaurant where we are constantly dealing with customers and many coworkers. In an environment like this, it is good to know how to identify violence in the work place. There are many factors that can add to preventing violence in the workplace. By law, all places of employment must contain a workplace violence protection program. Researchers tell us that the most important component of any workplace violence prevention program is management commitment (Violence in The Workplace, 2017, p.5). The best form of management commitment is in a written policy. This written policy should be created by management along with a few workers. A few things that should be included in this written policy are any consequences for violent acts in the workplace, multiple ways to prevent violence in the workplace and it should also inform workers on how to properly report incidents confidentially. It s only been 25 years since Tim Burners Lee invented the world wide web and it s no secret that it is one of the most progressive and influential invention of our time. With this device, any one is capable of hooking up a gadget anywhere they want, at any moment, and anyone can become transparent (as the book calls it) without even knowing it. Everything sounds idealistic so far. The common people will be able to view their possessions, make sure everything is safe, take a vacation without actually leaving their household, and even check up on family members on occasion. Even a politician can wear it on their shirt and have the whole world keep tabs on how the politician negotiates and make deals. But agreeing with Margret Atwood with her review of the book, this can lead to a very dystopian world, questioning How involved can corporations and government be involved with the personal lives of individuals? How much involvement government/politics and businesses has on privacy towards themselves and people outside of their work has been an issue for many years, but it has recently became a big issue in the world today because of Edward Snowden, former U.S. contractor of the National Security Agency, who disclosed information of thousand classified
  • 15. Donald Trump Persuasive Essay Donald Trump does not deserve to represent our country as president. His harsh comments he has said can sometimes be seen as racial comments. He thinks that what he says is fair because of how bad our country is at the moment and he wants us to open our eyes to all that is happening. Donald Trump is one to say things that most of the time come off as a rude and racist comments to those listening to what he has to say. A few of those times he has false claims about things he really doesn t know the full story of. He said, I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down (Trump, 2015). There just so happened to be a large Arab population in Jersey City, New Jersey and they watched as the World Trade Center came down on 9/11. A lieutenant said, . . .there are no indicators that this ever happened (Hertling, 2015). What lieutenant General Mark Hertling said that his statements were false and that they were not helpful to the commanders on the ground. For Donald Trump to say this, he would have to know where this group must be. He thinks that if we were to go after the families of the men and women in the ISIS group, we could take them down. Everyone must care for someone in this world and even the members of ISIS are capable of caring for their own family members. So he believes that if we take down the families of ISIS members, ISIS will also come down with those family

Throughout chapter two of Managing for Quality and Performance Excellence, multiple philosophies on how to incorporate quality into a company are described in detail. These examples include the philosophies of great minds such as Deming, Juran, and Crosby, as well as several other accomplished quality professionals. In many ways Juran and Deming approached quality the same way. They agreed that there was a need to have executive management involved, continuous improvement, and increased training. One of the biggest differences came from the psychological side of management. Juran believed managers should instill fear in their employees, make them scared to produce defects, while Deming believed fear would create stress and unnecessarily hinder the production process (Evans and Lindsay 62). Much like Juran and Deming, Phillip Crosby, a vice president of quality for International Telephone and Telegraph, introduced his ideas and strategies for increased quality. Crosby came up with the Absolutes of Quality Management and the Basic Elements of Improvement. The ideas of Crosby share many similarities with Deming and Juran. Crosby believed quality was often seen as an opinion, what was high quality to some was seen as low quality to others. Because of this interpretation, Crosby s first point was created to set a standard basis for measuring quality. He noted that, Quality means conformance to requirements, not elegance (Evans and Lindsay 63). For Crosby, quality became a measure of how closely a product met requirements. Crosby was also a large fan of craftsmen and wanted

There are people who want to escape from people but it is their choice and at any giving moment they can be reconnect with others like they never left. In other cases, it wasn t this person choice to be hidden from social interactions and being a functional person in society. These people all have different experiences either they were mental or physical abused as a child and never really learned what it was like to interact with another person. Or maybe society has turned their back on them either for a criminal history or a financial one. Society has a way of turning their back on people if they don t live up to societies standards. For example, when someone commits a crime they can be subjected to prison time and depending on the crime they could be placed in prison. • 19. Literary Analysis Of A Rose For Emily By William Faulkner 1 Literary Analysis on A Rose For Emily by William Faulkner William Faulkner has done a wonderful work in his essay A Rose for Emily. Faulkner uses symbols, settings, character development, and other literary devices to express the life of Emily and the behavior of the people of Jefferson town towards her. By reading the essay, the audience cannot really figure out who the narrator is. It seems like the narrator can be the town s collective voice. The fact that the narrator uses collective pronoun we supports the theory that the narrator is describing the life of Miss Emily on behalf of the townspeople. Faulkner has used the flashback device in his essay to make it more interesting. The story begins with the portrayal of Emily s funeral and it moves to her past and at the end the readers realize that the funeral is a flashback as well. The story starts with the death of Miss Emily when he was seventy four years old and it takes us back when she is a young and attractive girl. Faulkner has characterized all the characters in the best possible way. Emily Grierson, Homer Barron, Judge Stevens the mayor of Jefferson, Mr. Grierson Emily s father, Tobe Emily s servant, and Colonel Sartoris a former mayor of Jefferson are the major charters in the story. The narrator describes Emily as a monument, but with a lot of negativity. The story shows us how she was a smart young girl and then how she end up being an overprotective and secretive old woman. She refused to accept the change when her father died and that s why she kept telling all the people in town that her father is still alive. Homer Barron is much like Emily. Like Emily, Homer is an outsider and becomes the topic of gossip. The narrator describes Homer as a big man with dark complexion with a good sense of humor. Tobe s character in the story plays an important role. He is a loyal and dutiful servant. He cared for Emily till she died, but he walked out of the back door and never returned after Emily s death. Mr. Grierson was a well maintained person. When he was alive, Emily s house was always beautifully maintained. He earned a lot of respect in the society but when he died the respect towards his family died with him. Faulkner uses

For example, the agency problem appears when there s a conflict between company s goal and the agent s personal goal, not only in CSR; and the profit issue is just a matter of choice. Thus, while measuring CSR s influence on company s performance, we should first identify or select the dimensions of corporate social responsibility (Ruf, 1998, as cited in Foote, Gaffney, amp;Evans, 2010). Nothing can we truly measure before a clear identification. After a clear identification, we will be able to figure out whether it is the impact brought by CSR, and therefore eliminate the interference from R amp;D, advertising, or political efforts, etc. It s not simply

With difficulty, on her knees, drew from her bosom a white handkerchief Rose May lie s own and holding it up, in her folded hands, as high towards Heaven as her feeble strength would allow, breathed one [last] prayer for mercy towards her Maker (Oliver Twist, Dickens 302 revised). Throughout Oliver Twist, Charles Dickensuses his characters and props to symbolize purity, even though the environment would seem to denote everything and everyone. Incontro vertibly, some certainly conform to their environment; for example, as part of the lower class, Fagin and Sikes turn to thieving, lying, and even murder, instead of earning an honest living. Throughout the first half of the book, Dickens leads one to believe Nancy follows the same pat tern. However, as the plot develops, the reader s theories and opinions transform. Continuing on, the reader will find the answer to the dispute Dickens constantly toys with; does one s environ ment have the ability to blacken the soul and affect one s choices? Camera Lucida Analysis The Indexical Experience in Camera Lucida Roland Barthes analysis of the photograph in Camera Lucida is based on his introspective experience with photography s appearance. The book consists of reflections of emotions felt during his experiences, which essentially defines a phenomenological approach. Phenomenology, according to David Woodruff Smith, is concerned with the things as they appear in our experience...thus the meanings things have in our experience (Smith). For photography, the appearance of the photograph is produced through the physical relationship between the referent photographed and how it is imprinted in film. Therefore, in the experience of a photograph for Barthes, the sign is determined by that physical relationship. Although, Barthes analysis of the photograph includes both indexical and iconic aspects, this paper seeks to argue that the indexical aspect of a photograph is the prominent sign of the photograph because of Barthes phenomenological approach to photography. To be clear, I am analyzing how Barthes perceives photography as indexical from his phenomenological approach and proving how it serves the indexical sign. First, we must consider how Barthes speaks of indexicality when describing the Camera Lucida s purpose, which he says is to find the noeme of photography. He eventually concludes that the noeme is the undeniability of that has been , which refers to the indexical truthfulness of what has physically been in front of the camera. He

Having a character ponder over a photo typically gives the image no more value than a McGuffin. Alejandro GonzГЎlez IГ±ГЎrritu s Amores Perros (2000) on the other hand, asks the viewer to re evaluate the concept of the photograph both literally and figuratively throughout the film. The meaning of a photograph can be considered the glue on this story; the symbol is dynamic enough to provide each character with a moment of reflection, and the audience a window into the subjective perspective at the peak of a character s diegesis. Using the photograph loosely in this fashion allows it to be one of the key elements to tie together three radically different stories, despite the symbol s lack of dedicated screen time. Before diving into each individual character s world, it helps to look at the background of the new, circa 2000, director Alejandro IГ±ГЎrritu. Alejandro started his career with a passion for music working with radio; that original passion is visible throughout Amores Perros as sound is used to articulate the set space and time. Sound mimics patterns found throughout the story and Alejandro frequently positions it to juxtaposition the narrative. With that being in mind there are few scenes where we are met with no background noise, and no dialogue. Looking at these we can see Alejandro graces the film with three powerful character defining images, each

Ecclesiastes Word Vanity Essay In the book of Ecclesiastes, the word vanity is used almost thirty five times, compared to approximately twenty five times elsewhere in the Old Testament (Meek, n.d.). Furthermore, when a single word is used multiple times throughout a book in the Bible such as the word vanity, it is important to understand the word s contextual meaning to determine the biblical significance of the word vanity. Subsequently, in other books of the Bible the words vain, vanity, and vanities, are primarily associated with emptiness, worthlessness, wickedness, falseness, or a breath (Meek, n.d.). Therefore, in the analysis of the word vanity within the book of Ecclesiastes, I believe it is important to ascertain the identity of the person suspected of authoring this book to assist in the comprehension of the word vanity. Consequently, the author of book of Ecclesiastes was a teacher of wisdom and in Chapter 1 Verse 1, Qoheleth is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, Qoheleth s message in the book of Ecclesiastes can be simply summarized as life is hard and humankind will never understand the fulfillment of life regardless of where they chose to seek happiness whether it is in work, pleasure, wisdom, wealth, and status (Longman, 2009). Moreover, the author is portraying humankind does not have a chance to understand the vanities of life before their death (Longman, 2009). Next, as we continue to understand the word vanity within the book of Ecclesiastes, many Christians interpret Qoheleth s emphasis on vanity or meaninglessness as a conclusion about a life without a God (Ortlund, 2013). Thus, Qoheleth s usage of the word vanity is synonymous with how he portrays life as under the sun and human accomplishment; therefore, no matter how hard we work the impact of lives dies with us in our grave (Ortlund,
  • 42. Plant Water Stress Is A Major Factor Affecting Crop Yield Plant water stress is a major factor affecting crop yield. With the ever increasing human population, there is a constant stress exerted on water resources (McGwire et al., 2000). So irrigation to avoid or relieve this stress must be done judiciously, not only to avoid environmental problems such as groundwater pollution and runoff, but also to keep the cost down on a limited and expensive resource. Soil moisture sensors are often used for precision irrigationcontrol purposes. However, soil moisture sensors can only assess the degree of water deficit stress that is imposed to the plants, but not necessarily the level of water deficit stress that is actually experienced by the plants (Sinclair and Ludlow, 1985). An assessment of leaf water content, on the other hand, may yield more detailed insight into the plant s actual physiological response to a certain degree of low soil moisture content, and how water deficit stress is in fact experienced by the plant. Leaf water content is a key indicator of plant health, vigor and photosynthetic efficiency (Harry, 2006). Accurate retrieval of plant water content plays a crucial role in assessing drought risk (Bauer et al., 1986), select genotypes in breeding for water stress (Munjal and Dhanda, 2005), predicting wildfire and monitoring the physiological condition of vegetation (PeГ±uelas and Filella, 1998) and biomass (Cho et al., 2007; Mutanga et al., 2005; Ullah et al., 2012c), while in the agriculture domain it helps in scheduling
  • 43. Gender, Sexual, And Gender Sex refers to a person s biological status and is typically categorized as male, female or intersex. There are a number of indicators of biological sex, including sex chromosomes, gonads, internal reproductive organs and external genitalia (Anon 2012). Sex is typically categorized by either male or female. Your sex is your sex and there isn t much you can do to change that. We are unable to alter our genetic makeup which has a great deal to do with our sex. Every individual is either a maleor a female but your genderis somewhat up to you. Your sex is a physical aspect of your body, while you sex category and gender is your mental aspect. Once you consider yourself or placed yourself into a sex category, you take on the roles of that sex. Some even take it as far taking on the features and dressing like their gender preference. You see this in many homosexual individuals. Males acting and dressing like females and females acting and dressing like males. According to the sex role theory, we acquire our gender identity through socialization, and afterward we are socialized to behave in masculine or feminine ways (Kimmel 2000:131). Society basically shows individuals how to masculine or feminine, whether it is a man being masculine or feminine or a woman being feminine or masculine. Doing gender is performing the activities and exhibiting the traits that are prescribed for us. A person s gender is not simply an aspect of what one is, but, more fundamentally, it is something that one does, and does recurrently, in interaction with others (Kimmel 2000:131). You can appear to be a male or a female, but your actions may appear of the opposite sex. Heterosexual men, for example, who identify with their sex but not the social characteristics typically associated with dominant masculinity, may find that they are bullied and not considered to be a proper

Filipinos remember how their lola had their children form a line and step up to receive a small gift of some coins. The older the child, the more coins he or she receives. Some families have a talent show during Christmas Eve celebration. Children are asked to perform. One might sing a Christmas song, others might play a musical instrument, or others may recite a poem or do a dance. The celebration continues until about 6 o clock in the morning.
