Causes Of The Jewish Revolution Of 1848
One of the key factors of the Revolution was the rise of nationalism in the respective
crown lands. The various ethnic groups of the Habsburg Empire for national
recognition. The Jews on the other hand sought the repeal of discriminatory taxes and
legislation. They championed natural not national rights. Secondly the new middle
class worked under harsh conditions for little pay. They protested against new
technologies such as machines, at the same time, they lacked an cohesive agenda.
Marx would later attribute this to their lack of class conciseness in the Communist
Manifesto. It should be noted that most of these workers were reeling against Jewish
industrial leaders, so it is safe to say that the Jewsdid not play an active role... Show

Though the Fundamental Laws extended Religious Freedoms, it also worked to fully
alienate the Jewish people from Galician politics. One of the requirements of holding
office, was to fall under a nationally recognized language. This was calculated in the
new census procedures, in which citizens had to list both their language and
associated nationality. The Census did not consider Jewish or Yiddish as legitimate
responses, thus further alienating the Jewish population. These new regulations
created a Polish majority in the Diet, under which both the Jews and Rutherians had
limited suffrage.
It soon became evident to some members of the Jewish elite, that political
consciousness was essential to gaining freedom. In 1868, the first hint of a Jewish
Nationalism movement appeared with the creation of Shomer Israel in Lemberg.
Though originally this was not a politically active group it would later push for

that are commonly used are: lean mass builders, stimulants, painkillers, sedatives,

Some may wonder what these classes are. Lean Mass Builders drive or amplify the

Now you may understand why these drugs are considered Performance Enhancing
drugs. Each drug takes a different effect to help the athlete preform in a way that
is better than their abilities. Some side affects for men who take anabolic steroids
may be: developing breasts, having a decrease in sperm count, they may become
infertile or become incompetent. Some of the effects on anabolic steroids for
women are: growing excessive face and body hair, their voices may deepen, they
may experience menstrual irregularities, reduced breast size, or have a
masculinized female fetus. Also some of the effects that can happen on any man
or women are: getting acne, have oily scalp and skin, jaundice, become bald, have
heart attacks, develop significant risk of liver disease, have high levels of bad
cholesterol, have mood swings, or suffer delusions (DeNoon). These are only a few
of the bad effects of taking an anabolic steroid.
What is the difference between an anabolic steroid and a corticosteroid? An anabolic
steroid is a synthetic steroid hormone that resembles testosterone in promoting the
growth of muscle. Such hormones are used medicinally to treat some forms of
weight loss and (illegally) by some athletes and others to enhance physical
performance. Whereas a corticosteroid is any of a group of steroid hormones
produced in the adrenal cortex or made synthetically. There are two kinds:
glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids. They have various
Global Warming And Its Effects
Global Warming
The earth is getting warmer, animals and their habitats are declining, human health
is at risk and the cause of all this terror is Global Warming. Global warming will
cause many parts of the world to change. In the next 50 years climate change could
be the cause of more than a million terrestrial species becoming extinct. Sea levels
will raise which means more flooding and is not good for the plants. With too
much water the plants will die and herbivores will lose their food source as well as
their habitats. As a result the food chain will be broken and survival for any creature
is slim to none. In conclusion, Global Warming is an important issue, but before we
can devise any solutions we must first understand the causes. This paper will focus
on the causes of global warming and argue that excessive carbon dioxide emissions is
the predominate cause. This paper will start of briefly discussing the history of
Global Warming (GW) by explaining how greenhouse gases contribute to GW
through the greenhouse effect and how production of these gases has increased along
with rise in global temperatures. Next, it will explain the causes of global warming
including carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrus oxide (fertilizer) emissions. The
strengths and the weaknesses of each cause will be looked at; prompting the
conclusion that inflated carbon dioxide emissions are the essential driver. The final
segment of the paper will conclude and explain policy
Speaking Like Cave People Research
Speaking like Cave People In today s society grunting will not get me anywhere,
but a long time ago it did help cave people to communicate with one another.
Growing up in the states, I was taught in my household to speak in two languages,
Vietnamese and English. It was challenging to wrap my head around them, but it s
become second nature to me now. Most of the people during the prehistoric era
had the hardest time communicating with each other. Oddly enough I can sort of
relate to them. As a kid I wasn t really much of the type to volunteer to read aloud
or the type to speak in front of the whole class. Every time I went up to present
something I would feel nausea in my stomach, kind of like that idiom I ve got
butterflies in my stomach .
Talisman Case in Iraq Essay
Talisman Energy INC.: The Decision to Enter Iraq
I. Introduction Any company that decides to expand internationally should consider
many complexities that it might face. Because of the differences in political system,
culture, surrounding environment, and many other factors, there might be great
barriers for a firm to expand internationally. The CEO of Talisman EnergyInc and
senior executive team have to convince the board of directors to enter Kurdistan
region of Iraq. After Talisman s scandal in Sudan, taking any other step into an
unstable region carries a great risk.

Talisman cannot take the risk and face another scandal like what happened in Sudan.
Talisman should investigate about how independent Kurdistan is from the rest of
Iraq, if there is any singe of conflict between Kurdistan and the government of Iraq,
Talisman then should clear it out with the Iraqi government. It is as I mentioned an
unstable region, so there is a great chance of conflicts.
Talisman should clear out how the shares after oil discovery will be divided, since
that they are not sure of finding oil or not, there might be some conflicts after the
oil discovery, simply because oil is demanded all over the world, so the Iraqi
government might change it s mind and decide to get its share of the profit.
Talisman should use the media to their side before any other conflict appears. There
should be some meetings with NGOs to clear out Talismans policy and intentions in
entering Iraq. There has to be a communication between Talisman and the NGOs to
make sure that the company is away from funding any civil wars. That way,
shareholders will feel even more comfortable, and the company will not risk its
reputation.
V. Implementation of the Solutions (1) Talisman should start meeting with NGO s
before they enter Iraq, this way the company will be clear with the rest of the world
about their future moves. (2) The investigation about the situation between Kurdistan

Defending Adverse Possession or Squatters Rights share the same definition. These
terms bear a similar legal right to abandoned land or property. A process that can be
dated back as far as 1068 during the ear of Henry I in England. Building personal
wealth began with property ownership, which created social value for the
community. Today, this process still exists; however, the right to ownership may
take more than just staking a claim or improving an abandoned piece of land. To
correct any confusion, each state derived laws that protect the adverse possessor as

Insufficient Acts Although conceded that the claimant engaged in some use of the
property, alleged that these acts were not sufficient to amount to acts suggesting a
claim of ownership.
Non Exclusive Use Although it is conceded that the claimant engaged in some use of
the property, it is alleged that others (usually the property owner) also used the
property in a manner consistent with that of the landowner.
Insufficient Time Even if various elements of adverse possession were met, it is
alleged that the adverse possession did not last for the full statutory period, or that
the adverse possession was interrupted by a period of non use. State laws are
constantly changing when meeting the criteria for Adverse Possession.
Understanding these laws may seem daunting and anything but straightforward.
Miscalculating the statutory period and possibly making a procedural mistake could

When Is It Too Late to File a Personal Injury Lawsuit in Indiana?
Being injured in an accident is a traumatic life event. In just a few seconds, another
person s choice can turn your life upset and dramatically change your future. When
another person or party causes you to be injured, you may have a civil claim against
that party for damages. Indiana s personal injury laws provide a legal way for you to
file a civil lawsuit against the at fault party to receive compensation for your injuries.
However, many people are not aware that they have a limited amount of time to file a
personal injury lawsuit. Indiana s Statute of Limitations sets time limits for injury

Exceptions to the Statute Of Limitations
If a child is the victim, you may have additional time to file a personal injury
lawsuit. Likewise, someone who is incompetent may also have addition time to file
a personal injury lawsuit. In addition, if you were not aware of the injury, as in the
case of medical malpractice where symptoms do not appear until much later, you may
have additional time to file a medical malpractice lawsuit.
On the other hand, if a government entity is involved in your accident, you may be
required to file notice with the government entity within a short period of time to
protect your right to file a personal injury lawsuit. Because there are exceptions to

because women are sensitive to angiotensin II and they may also have a decrease

Women Of Hamlet By William Shakespeare
Women of Hamlet
Women are a very important part of this world although they are sometimes not
portrayed that way. One would think they would be seen as significant because of the
fact that women make up almost half of the world s population. Throughout all of
history, females have been considered the weaker sex. In the play, Hamlet, written by
William Shakespeare, women are portrayed as weak minded and unfaithful. The
inability to correctly make important life decisions, a weakened mental state, and
complete obedience to men all contribute to this point.
First, women are shown unable to make to make decisions; even simple choices, if
made against a man s advice, turn into chaos. At the conclusion of the play, Hamlet,
Gertrude makes a choice that goes against what her husband wants:
QUEEN. The Queen carouses to thy fortune, Hamlet.
HAMLET. Good madam!
KING. Gertrude, do not drink.
QUEEN. I will, my lord; I pray you pardon me. (5.2.262 64) Soon after this exchange
of words, the Queen falls ill to the poisoned drink and dies. The only time she ever
makes a choice for herself, she dies because of it. This adds evidence by showing
she is not able to make a correct decision. Ophelia dies earlier on in the play of
suspected suicide. She drowns after going insane over her father s death, while her
brother is left perfectly sane. Laertes may want revenge, but his wits are in good
shape. Left without her father to make every single choice for
The Use Of Cell Phone Jammers
Today s generation, with such an immediate access to the internet and social media
apps, find it impossible to put down that pesky phone. It is time for all of us to get
a grip and fight off that urge to keep the daily streaks on snapchat and other social
media. A cell phone jammer is a device that blocks the reception of signals, usually
by creating some form of interference. In other words, a cell phone user will
experience a significant loss of signal quality. The government should legalize the
use of cell phone jammers because they prevent the certain event to occur such as
texting while driving, prevents other health risks. Some believe that cell phone
jammer should not be used at any cost because it contributes to mental and social
controversies, for instance cell phone jammers can make the situation worse by
making the cell phone useless in case of an emergency. In today s society, Mobile
phone jammers would be beneficial because they would improve health concerns
such as bizarre posture, anxiety and sleep loss, benefit social skills when speaking
face to face, and help prevent accident on the road. Overuse of cellphones can lead
to physical and mental ailments. Cell phones have become a major part of our lives
and it has been publicized that the long term effects are dreadful. Some common
symptoms of the overuse of phones are Irritated eyestrain, blurry vision, problems
focusing, headaches, neck shoulder pain, as well as binocular vision problems.

Use of pharmacological agents in pediatric dentistry as sedatives.
As medicine progresses day by day so are the varieties of procedures that can be
accomplished on patients in order to improve quality of life. One of the areas of the
health care system that has developed the most is the dental field. Now a days, the
diversity of dental procedures performed on people of different ages is extraordinary.
Dentists have also improved, not only their techniques thanks to the advances in
technology and new equipment that allows them to perform all the different
procedures, but as well as on their training. Dentists today, thanks to that intensive

Dental treatment requires a certain amount of time and it is difficult to keep a child
still. Under these circumstances dentists will often recommend some form of
pharmacological sedation. For the most part, dental procedures are ambulatory;
meaning patients will go home shortly after the procedure is done. To facilitate this,
dentists use oral sedation or intranasal sedation instead of general anesthesia. General
anesthesia not only will significantly increase the cost of treatment, but also the risk
as well. The use of oral sedation or intranasal sedation represents an advantage for
dentists, who can perform a treatment that without sedation could not be
accomplished. On the contrary, drug response from patients represents a major risk
that can not be ignored. Due to the great risk of advanced reactions in patients after
receiving a drug or a combination of drugs, researchers are constantly working on
finding better and safer sedative agents. In this paper I will discuss the findings on
several research papers in regards to safer and efficient sedatives for dental
procedures on children.
Oral sedation is the simplest and also the most convenient method used to manage
uncooperative patients. The reason behind this is its easy way of administration
(oral) and the lack of injections, which is one of the major fears in children.
Sedatives could be also administered in its gas form, but that would
Analysis Of You Are What You Eat By Mark Menjivar
The fridge is a personal and private space that can reveal a glimpse of one s
lifestyle. A person s eating habits can show what kind of person they are and why it
maybe they are eating this way. That is what Mark Menjivar aimed to prove as he
took photographs of what he saw in different people s fridges and collected them
for his series You Are What You Eat . Menjivar traveled to 20 communities
throughout the nation, and took pictures inside what was in a total 60 people s
fridges. He was trying to explore the tie between eating habits and identity. At first I
wasn t quite sure how a photograph could tell about one s character, due to the fact
that a picture can say many things and can be quite ambiguous. That was until I

My favorite one is the photograph of the bartender s fridge. His fridge alone
allowed me to envision so many different circumstances. His fridge carried so
much character. In both photographs the fridge is completely cluttered and
unorganized. The fridge from 2008, was filled with boxes of take out. There isn t
any evidence of him cooking anything for himself. This allowed me to come to the
conclusion that it s due to him being a male bachelor, who probably doesn t know
how to cook. There s also the possibility that it s due to him not having enough time
to cook for himself. Most of that food in the Styrofoam boxes are probably bar food
that he took home, because it was convenient for him. In the article, Menjivar
mentioned how taking the photograph was so unbearable due to the stench coming
from the fridge. It s pretty clear the fridge would smell, without him stating it. The
fridge looked absolutely atrocious. The second photograph in 2012, was still a
cluttered mess, but there were no take out Styrofoam boxes. The fast food had
been replaced with some healthier options like humus, tuna, yogurt, some greens,
and plenty of drinks. For a bartender, I expected a lot more liquor in to be in both
fridges. I was kind of shocked to see there were more in 2012, and barely any in the
photo in 2008. It s evident that his bad eating habits had changed, even Menjivar
mentions this. He also says that the bartender had significantly lost weight. Not only
did his fridge look different, the bartender had changed as well due to his new eating
Systems Thinking
Why is systems thinking critical in developing solutions to sustainability challenges?
Systems thinking is a method of thinking that looks at the interconnectedness
between different elements rather than a linear cause and effect approach and sees
patterns of change rather than fixed snapshots . In essence it is a view on the whole
picture (Anderson, R 1994). Peter Senge and Andres Edwards expressed the
importance of system thinking in that it is necessary for understanding the dynamic
complexity of a situation , anticipating the unintended consequences of proposed
actions and implementing lasting solutions (Higgins, K 2014). Obesity is a wicked
problem we face today where systems thinking is necessary as it is a sustainability...

Perhaps the scarier fact however is that children are being affected too with 10%
of school aged children around the world being overweight, and a quarter of these
children being obese (Lobstein, T et al 2004). Heart disease, certain cancers, gall
bladder disease, osteoarthritis, endocrine disorders, hyperinsulinaemia, poor
glucose tolerance, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnoea, social exclusion and
depression and other obesity related conditions have been found in young adult
populations, and their need for medical treatment may last for the rest of their life
(Lobstein, T et al 2004). With the obesity epidemic trend and its health
consequences on the rise (Walley, A et al 2006) there is a dire need for developing
better solutions and taking action. Contrary to belief, obesity has no clearly
defined solution. Many believe that it is a chosen lifestyle and that by just
exercising more and eating healthier the problem will be solved. This false mindset
is at the core of the problem as portrayed in the iceberg model and addresses just the
tip of the iceberg . There is in fact a bigger picture at play. Other characteristics on
an individual level like physiological and psychological factors are also a major
influence. Obesity is one of the most genetically predisposed traits (Walley, A et al
2006). Genetic studies have shown that heritability estimates for obesity are high
(typically gt;70%), which parallels with other polygenic diseases like
Truman Essay
When World War II ended the United States and Russia emerged as Superpowers .
Though they had fought as allies, each had their own agenda and post war strategies.
The United States found itself unable to enjoy the pleasures of peace after the wars
completion. Having been unable to establish a true settlement in Europe, America
watched, as Russia appeared to strengthen its hold of the region. The Soviets were
taking a position in Europe that concerned the United States, led by President Harry S.

They were also refusing to comply with a post war agreement to vacate Iran within
six months of the end of World War II. This action was of great concern to the United
States who brought this dispute to the attention of the United Nations. A strong
position of hostility was observed between the United States and Russia. The United
States issued an ultimatum for Russia to withdraw from Iran or face military
opposition.
As tensions in Europe continued to rise support against communist expansion was
weakening. The support of Great Britain had weakened as they were faced with post
war economic hardship and recent severe weather. Churchill advised Truman that
Great Britain would no longer be able to fund anti revolutionary support. Greece was
currently in a battle against revolutionaries supported by communist Yugoslavia who
were attempting to over throw the British supported King. With the British
withdrawal of aid and support to Greece, Truman saw a long awaited opportunity
present itself. He had wanted to establish an ideological anti communist doctrine and
with recent developments in Europe, he was motivated to proceed. In addition
Truman felt the Soviet aggression in Europe could have an effect on the United
States economy if a growing communist Europe becomes a lost market.
On March 12, 1947 President Harry S. Truman gave a speech to Congress regarding

How To Read Books Should Be Taught In Secondary Schools
Once you learn to read, you will be forever free. , a truthful quote by the African
American social reformer and writer, Fredrick Douglas said. Nowadays, many of
our children have a negative attitude towards reading in schools. They are forced to

for video games, they have not had time to discover literature they like. So schools
should provide an opportunity for our children to discover literature they will like. A

The creepiness of this scene resonates in my mind, but I am constantly reminded to
give myself a healthy balance between school and recreation. Regular reading also

This study also suggests that independent reading encourages a more self sufficient

Should we focus on products that businesses buy? After all, that s who we sell to

consumer products? Finally, while Cisco is growing 15 percent per year, that s
down significantly from the 40 percent growth that we ve had since inception, save
for 2001. So we need to identify high growth markets and products that we could
design and build.
If we grow by purchasing technology firms with already established products or
services, should we stick to our knitting by buying firms with products and
services closely related to our existing business? Or should we diversify by buying
firms that are very different from our basic business, routers and switches? For
instance, Cisco has the opportunity to acquire a firm that specializes in technology
security (spam, viruses, malware, and other Internet threats), an area in which it
has no experience. What s more likely to work and be less risky, buying firms with
similar products or services (like Cisco s) or buying firms with different products
or services? Basically, should Cisco move beyond its core business? Finally, if we
do decide to buy firms with already established products or services, how can we
make sure those acquisitions work? Study after study shows that most mergers and
acquisitions have no better than a 50 50 shot of working. In other words, buy another

Some treatment choices are support groups, private psychotherapy, medication,
electroconvulsive (ECT) therapy, and light therapy ( Depression During
Pregnancy, 2008). For women with mild forms of depression, individual or group
therapy may be all the treatment they need . Some women just need to talk to
someone who understands and is willing to listen to them. This is a great resource
for individuals who do not have much money and are experiencing the blues . There
are women who suffer from a type of depression that comes on during the fall or
winter, when there is less sunlight. This is called seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
This condition is treated with light therapy. In her home, the patient looks into a box
with special light bulbs. The health provider recommends how many times a day and
for how long the patient needs to use the light box ( Pregnancy complication:
depression, 2009).
According to Nancy Grote, professor at the University of Pittsburgh, depression
during pregnancy can be alleviated with two types of psychotherapy. The first type of
psychotherapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, helps the depressed woman feel better
by addressing and better managing the interpersonal difficulties most connected to
her depression, including 1) learning to identify and take care of her own needs, 2)
learning to rely less on an unsupportive boyfriend, 3)
Essay on Brainwashing of Constituents in George Orwell s...
Eric Blair wrote the novel 1984 under the pseudonym George Orwell. The original
title of 1984 was The Last Man in Europe, however, the title was changed for
unknown purposes. It has been speculated that the change in title was done because
it was a mere reversal of the last two digits of the year in which it was written. The
novel was first received with conflicting acclamations and criticisms. Those who
provided acclamation for the novel believed that it portrayed the impending
possibility of the future and what it might bring. Some reviewers, however, disliked
its dystopian satire of the class system, the power struggles of world leaders,
nationalism, totalitarian regimes, and bureaucracy. Others panned it as nihilistic

Love and obedience can be shown for no other. To ensure that all the people of
Oceania completely devote themselves to Big Brother many check systems are put
in place. These include telescreens and the Thought Police. Telescreens were
cameras and televisions which were used to watch the people at all times. The
Thought Police, who were indistinguishable from everyday citizens, were present to
capture anyone they suspected to be a thought criminal. Thought criminals were any
Oceania citizens that were suspected of conspiring against Big Brother or The
Party. Another activity that The Party established to instigate love for Big Brother
was the Two Minute Hate. This endeavour created feelings of hatred that were
steered toward a certain group of people called thought criminals. When first
published, 1984 was viewed as an absurdly fictional novel. Readers thought that the
ideas presented were exaggerated and would never be reality. However, it is
exceedingly evident that it is no longer such a stretch of the imagination. In many
places around the world, small and seemingly insignificant changes are being made
that signify a slide toward totalitarianism. The first practice that makes this change
seem apparent in the future is the use of hidden surveillance cameras. These seem to
be consistent with the telescreens used in the novel. Most Wanted, a television show

Animal Experimentation For Medical And Cosmetic
Every year, more than 100,000,000 animals, containing mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats,
rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds die in the United States
facilities for the use of chemical, food, drug, and cosmetics testing (PETA). Animal
experimentation pertains to the experiments and procedures that are performed on
living animals for insight into many diseases, the effectiveness of new medications,
examining the health effects on humans because of products, environmental safety
for industry and consumer products including household cleaners, cosmetics,
pharmaceuticals, food additives and agricultural and industrial chemicals (Humane

the dose of a chemical that is needed to kill 50 percent of the animals that are being
used in the experiment (Crooks, Richard M). In a study done by Humane Society
International, animals are regularly subjected to forced inhalation, force feeding,
water and food deprivation, extended periods of being restrained, the purposely
causing burns, cuts, and other wounds to study healing processes, the infliction of
pain to study its effects and how to alleviate it, and the killing using carbon dioxide
asphyxiation, breaking of necks, and decapitation (Culliton, Barbara J). This pain that
is inflicted on these animals causes the experiments that are being done on the
animals to be cruel and inhumane. Because of the inhumanity many scientists have
come up with alternative testing methods that do not include animal cruelty. The
legality of this practice should be seriously questioned because on the amount of
inhumanity the innocent animals receive. By using alternative testing methods
scientists can get the same data about the products being tested without including
animals. In these
College Student Debt Essay
Do college students need debt such as credit cards and small personal loans to have
a comfortable lifestyle in college?
College students don t need debt at all. I think it s a real bad problem if college
students have a credit card or small personal loans to have a comfortable lifestyle.
Most of us even can not earn money for ourselves so we can not be able to meet
their liabilities. However, if they do this, how can they pay back to this debt. Of
course, they can t. Thus, it may induce them to do something bad. For instance, they
may stole others things or even worse, they might have a mind that to kill themselves.
That s a real bad result. In that age , they may cannot control the payment. To sum up,
college students don t need debt at all, it may induce much worse consequence.

we drive our cars, we may enjoy the operating felling of cars. But when we use these

life s challenges as a youth. He is seen here steering the boat by himself on the
widened stream surrounded by the trees and the landscape in full bloom. The
angel is on the bank of the stream as if to direct him out on his boat. The youth sets
out on a summer day on the stream that looks calm but at the end it looks as if it
will turn a little rocky. The reflections of the surroundings are mirrored on the
stream as the youth sails towards the graceful castle in the sky. The youth looks
confident and energetic as he soars out on a journey. If you look above the

The classroom environment promotes relationship building among the children
because there are two chairs that allow the teachers to sit comfortably but still be on
the children s level. This encourages the relationships to be built with the teachers
because the children can come and talk to the teachers and the teacher can easily
hear/see them. The children are also able to give the teachers hugs at this level. This
is evidence that relationships have been formed because I have observed the children
doing the things mentioned above. The environment lacks in the promotion building
of relationships between teachers and parents because there are not many pieces of
furniture that is comfortable for adults. They are welcome to stay and play with their
child, but they have to stand, kneel on the floor, or sit in the child sized furniture. To

they are not big enough for adults. There is a cuddle corner in the classroom that

The Effects Of Age Related Macular Degeneration Essay
Abstract:
Age related macular degeneration (AMD) specifically affects the macular region of
the central retina, where both ganglion cells and cones are present at very high
densities. (Penfold Provis, 2005). In this paper, the origins and effects of macular
degeneration, both Age related (usually expressed in adults over 50) and Juvenile
(occurring in the teens and early 20 s) are analyzed and discussed. I hate my life.
As the most complex organ in the human body and the only externally viewed organ
connected directly to the brain, our eyes undergo numerous changes throughout the
course of our lives. Within the eye, there are various structures working synchronously
to ensure a maintenance of clear and functional vision. The purpose of this paper, is
to explore a condition that affects a large percent of the human population. Disrupting
our vision at its most central point, Macular Degeneration is a condition linked
directly to the deterioration of photoreceptors in our retinas and thus our visual
perception is reduced. Moving forward, we will explore the environmental and
genetic aspects that affect and exacerbate this condition, attempt to answer the
questions is there is a way to prevent the condition from manifesting, and is there a
way for it to be cured? , and discuss the implications this condition has on the
orientation and mobility field. Anatomy of the eye

before has my eyes been more opened to such differences. And to warn you I may

There is not a major difference between jail and prison for a common man, but in the

Detention centers, in general, are larger facilities that are often regional to national in
scope or coverage.
Many say that the term detention center is a really broad name that pertains to a
facility or place where persons are confined. According to the BOP (Bureau of
Prison, U.S.), a detention center is a place where you confine individuals who are
not yet declared convicts but are charged for something. These individuals have
not qualified for bail. Nevertheless, if a person will be deemed a threat to others
and even a flight risk or somebody who might fly away just to escape the charges
filed against him or her, then most likely he or she will be held captive inside the
detention center prior conviction. Jails can also be described similarly.
In the U.S., detention centers can be a jail, a prison, a concentration camp, an
internment camp and many other places where one or a group of people a re
detained. These centers are classified as maximum, medium and minimum detention
centers. Obviously the maximum security is the place where very violent criminals
are housed like those who are sentenced for life imprisonment. Medium security
detention centers are for those who ll serve for middle range sentences. Compared
to maximum, the prisoners in here have less criminal background. The minimum
detention center, also known as a form of work camp, is meant for those who have
offended a policy or law for the very first time. This
The Ethics Of Police Ethics Essay
With the past and current issues our country is having with law enforcement officials
the ethical deliberations about corruptions is constantly examining the foundations of
police ethics. The reasoning following public corruption indicates an underlying
social institutional structure that our country has created. In 2006, Louis Eppolito
and Stephen Caracappa were convicted of racketeering, extortion, obstruction of
justice, conspiracy, and murder charges. Louis and Stephen worked in the NYPD
policedepartment; however, they were actually working for the Lucchese crime
family mafia. In 2001, Joseph Miedzianowski worked as both a police officer and a
drug kingpin; therefore, he used his knowledge from both sides of his work to shake
down drug dealers. From 1972 until 1991, Jon Burge oversaw the torture of hundreds
of African American men with radiators, cigarettes, and electrocuted their testicles;
therefore, in order to assure Chicago police department could get their confessions.
During Hurricane Katrina Robert Gisevius, Kenneth Bowen, and Anthony Villavaso
members of the New Orleans police department murdered an innocent sixteen year
old James Brissette under a bridge. Situations like these are highly publicized and
often lead the public to doubt our countries police department members. Corruption of
ethicsand morals within a police department is destructive, and can have a crippling
effect on the police department s organization. When an organization experiences a

Morality In The Road By Cormac Mccarthy
Conflicts in Morality People are always debating between right and wrong; some
choose to follow the crowd while others go on their intuition. In The Road by
Cormac McCarthy, we see a boy and a man who are these outliers in society; they
struggle through a journey with many temptations to give up or to become barbaric
due to desperation. Traveling south down the road, the boy and manencounter many
factors of evil (stealing, violence, selfishness) that are a threat to their survival. To
prevent falling into despair, they remain the good guys during their survival in this
post apocalyptic world by establishing three laws: having hope, not resorting to
cannibalism, and prioritizing their survival over others. In The Road, one law that
is enforced by the man and boy is to have hope. In order to stray away from the
insanity that is portrayed everywhere in their environment, they have to keep a
positive mindset on their journey. The father does this by holding responsibility for

Reflective Essay On Mental Illness
Faced with the overwhelming stigma that surrounds mental illness, we have spent the
semester learning how to break down doorways into the lives of characters who have
struggled with their mental health. Far too often have these doors been kept bolted
shut. As a consequence of public fear and lack of understanding, the people behind
these doors individuals with mental illnesses have been given no choice but to
strugglein silence. In reading various works throughout the semester, we have been
able to begin to challenge the stigma that surrounds mental illness. Trying to gain
understanding, we have not only opened doorways, but we have begun to construct
empathic tunnels between our own lives and the unfamiliar universes of characters
with mental illness.
Reading the novels throughout this class sometimes made me uncomfortable,
usually hurt my heart, and always made me ask questions and I think that s the
whole point. The novels we read gave voices to people who felt like they did not
have a voice, because they had been silenced for so long. Refracted through various
time periods and genres, the novels we read provided insight into the progression of
mental illness throughout decades, namely into how mental illness is regarded by
the public. Maybe we don t treat people exactly like how the unnamed narrator in
The Yellow Wallpaper was treated anymore, and maybe we have a better
understanding of mental illness now than we did during Edna St. Vincent Millay s

American Traditions And Qualities Of The United States
Essay
For many international students, acclimating to American society can be troublesome
and occasionally disappointing. American traditions and qualities may be altogether
different from those of your nation of origin, and you may discover them befuddling.
America s populace reflects surprising ethnic differences. Non white individuals
dwarf whites in a lesser expansive urban area. Daily papers regularly utilize such
terms as Asian American, Italian
American, and Bedouin American to mirror the ingenuity of different ethnic legacies
inside the Unified States. There are individuals whose skin is named white, dark,
cocoa, yellow and red.
There are individuals who have numerous years of formal instruction and individuals
who have about none. There are the exceptionally rich and also the extremely poor.
There are
Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Communists, Communists, Libertarians, and
disciples of other political perspectives too. There are Legal advisors, agriculturists,
handymen, instructors, social laborers, movement officers and individuals in a great
many different occupations. Some live in urban zones and some in rustic ones. Given
this differing qualities, would one be able to conveniently discuss Americans ?
Probably so, given that one is watchful.
Americans don t more often than not see themselves, when they are in the

How Did David Hume The Improbability Of Miracles
The 18th century philosopher David Hume claimed that there had never been credible
testimony offered by anyone claiming they witnessed a miracle. Hume s argument
regarding the improbability of miracles is fallacious. In An Enquiry Concerning
Human Understanding (1748), Hume attempts to fortify his stance but uses a
cartesian circle, and thereby does not wholly prove against the existence of miracles.
David Hume was a Scottish philosopher, historian, economist, and essayist, who is
best known today for his highly influential system of philosophical empiricism,
skepticism, and naturalism. Hume s resistance to the teleological contention for God
s presence, the contention from design, is for the most part viewed as the most
intellectual endeavor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His argument begins with the view that a wise person always believes what is most
probable. A wise man, therefore, proportions his belief to the evidence (Hume 106).
Hume asserts that it is more plausible that the testimony is false than the possibility
of a miracle happening. He says that experience is the only guide in reasoning
concerning matters of fact (105). He likewise contends that miracles exist primarily
among the ignorant. It forms strong presumption against all supernatural and
miraculous relations that they are observed chiefly to abound among ignorant and
barbarous nations. He goes further with the idea that if someone testifies about a
miracle, they received them from ignorant and barbarous ancestors... Further, the
advantages are so great of starting an imposture among ignorant people that . . . it
has a much better chance for succeeding in remote countries than if the first scene
had been laid in a city renowned for arts and knowledge (126). Another argument by
Hume is that there is no testimony for [an alleged miracle] that is not opposed by an
infinite number of witnesses . . . Miracles have a self canceling nature. He sums up
his argument

This experiment was performed to investigate the following hypothesis: The
following four different types of drinking water (spring water, seltzer water, tap
water, and flavored water) we test will relatively have the same pH level.
Our group decided to test different types of drinking water to see if a pH level of tap
water is comparable to other types of water. Many people believe that city water has
many chemicals, causing us to form the expirement to see how close the different
types of drinking water s pH levels are.

We then moved the electrode in one of the beakers of water we wanted to test. We

orignally in. We repeated these steps for each of the different type of drinking water.
The control treatment in our expirement was thr red cabbage indicator. The
dependent variable is the pH of the water. The independent variable is the different
types of drinking water ( tap water, spring water, seltzer water, and flavored water).
The standard variables in the expirement are the clean test tubes, the clean pipettes,

The Effects Of Caffeine On Anaerobic Performance
The Effects of Caffeine on Anaerobic Performance
Introduction
Caffeine is a natural stimulant which is commonly used in sport for increasing heart
rate via the nervous system. Anaerobic performance is when an exercise or activity
is done in limited volumes of oxygen this can be examples such as jumping,
sprinting and the overall effects it has on sports. There are very little articles in
which write about the effects of caffeine on anaerobic performance in which most
articles talk about 3mg/kg, however, there is very little research on the effects of
using lower dosage on anaerobic performance. The main purpose of this text will
determine the effect of caffeine on anaerobic respiration and the effect it has on
performance
Discussion
Jump performance is a form of anaerobic performance that is used in sports.
Caffeine has shown to improve anaerobic performance by increasing muscle power
and agility on volleyball players Del Coso et al. (2014). The study suggested that
caffeine increased in volleyball skills required such as jump height by 3mg/kg,
however, the study didn t measure lower dosage to see if it will still have the same
effect also Abian et al. (2014) found that caffeine had a significant effect on jump
performance in badminton players. Both trials support the effects of caffeine on
anaerobic respiration. Both trials underwent a double blind trial in which both
volunteers and experimenters had no effects on the results, this allows the results to
be more reliable.
Lost Dog Budweiser Commercial Analysis
With over thirty million views, Budweiser s 2015 Super Bowl Commercial Lost
Dog has stolen the hearts of many. Budweiser commercials are a Super Bowl
tradition. This commercial in particular was somewhat of a sequel from the
previous 2014 Super Bowl commercial. Both starred a small golden Labrador
puppy, a Clydesdale horse and possibly the horse trainer or owner. Each year
Budweiser is faced with the challenge of topping the previous year s commercial.
An example would be in 2013, they told the story of the bond between the horse
and its trainer. The next year, they added a puppy. Budweiser s Lost Dog relies
heavily on connections for conveying its message and appeals strongly to the
emotions whether it be the music, the idea of a lost puppy, or in through the
powerful friendships. Throughout the entirety of the commercial, Budweiser does
not seem to go out of their way to advertise for their beer. The Budweiser logo only
appears twice in the whole one minute commercial, on the hat of the owner and then
at the very end of the commercial. A truly great advertiser is able to convey a
message without clearly stating it. Instead they rely solely on the connections that
can be made throughout the commercial. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

People want to know what happens in the end. This strategy is very efficient
because it allows for the advertiser to get a whole minute of attention of all their
viewers. The hook that Budweiser uses to pull in their viewers is the friendships
between the horse and the little puppy. It is not directly stated but it is implied
through body language, sound effects, and different angles. This bond keeps pulling
the two together and it tells a story of these two friends who were separated and then
they finally find each other and are happy again. This is something that many people
can relate to which is also a very smart strategy. They make it relatable and therefore
easier to understand and much more
Jelly Marble Lab Report
The Type of Liquid on Growth of Jelly Marble
The reason for the experiment is to see which liquid makes the Jelly Marble grow
the most. Jelly Marbles are clear spheres made from an superabsorbent polymer and
about 99% water. This makes it so that it absorbs water very quickly. If the jelly
marbles are soaked in 70% rubbing alcohol then the growth will decrease.

The volume of the Jelly Marbles that sat in the water have a volume of 1.02
milliliters. Trial 1 for the Jelly Marbles in the food coloring had a volume of 1.03
milliliters and trial 2 had a volume of 1.12 milliliters. The volumes for trial 1, 0.17
milliliters, and for trial 2, 0.03 milliliters, has a big difference. The density for the
Jelly Marbles that soaked in water was approximately 1.4 milliliters. Trail 1 for the
Jelly Marbles soaked in food coloring also had a density of 1.4 milliliters but, trial 2
had a density of 1.25 milliliters. The density for both of the Jelly Marbles that soaked
in the 70% rubbing alcohol can not be found.
The Jelly Marbles in the water were clear and the Jelly Marbles in the blue food
coloring was blue, as suspected. The Jelly Marbles that were soaked in the rubbing
alcohol was hard to determine but ended up being to be clear. The Jelly Marbles in
the water and the blue food coloring was wet and slippery and the ones that were in
the rubbing alcohol, were dry and hard like they were before the were soaked in
rubbing alcohol.

Battle Of Hastings Dbq
The Battle of Hastings happened on the 14th of October 1066 in East Sussex
which is outside of Hastings. The battle was between Harold Godwinson and
William, duke of Normandy. There are three main reasons why William won the
Battle of Hastings; this is because William had a head start and he also has cavalry.
The main reason he won was because during the battle William ordered his foot
soldiers to run away so that the English would go downhill after them.
One reason why William won the Battle of Hastings was because of his preparation
and readiness for the battle. His army were provided with cavalry that were trained to
kick, bite and head butt. This is shown in the Bayeux Tapestry and source 3 where
there are soldiers seen fighting on horses. I know that William s half brother
organised the creation of the tapestry so the information on it is likely to be accurate.
This meant William won the Battle of Hastings because he had an extra weapon that
the English didn t have therefore could surprise them, attack and leave more damage.

William ordered his foot soldiers to fake retreat. This is found in Source 5 because it
shows William and Harold s movements. My opinion is that doing this is very
intelligent because doing this tricks the opposing team. This meant that William won
the Battle of Hastings because it this meant that the English got confused so they
followed the Normans down the hill, therefore breaking the shield wall. When they
were at the bottom of the hill, the Normans killed the Bretons quickly so without
William making this decision, it would ve been less likely that the Saxons would ve
won the Battle of
Hooking the Reader in Ian McEwan s Enduring Love Essay
The beginning is simple to mark . This is the opening sentence of Ian McEwan s
novel Enduring Love , and in this first sentence, the reader is unwittingly drawn into
the novel. An introduction like this poses the question, the beginning of what?
Gaining the readers curiosity and forcing them to read on. The very word
beginning allows us an insight into the importance of this event, for the narrator
must have analysed it many a time in order to find the moment in which it all
began, and so it is obviously significant period of his life. And surely if the
beginning is simple , what is to come must be complex. This and the writers delaying
tactics, attention to precise detail and a red herring hook the readerand draw them well

However we do know that this is the event that shapes the rest of the novel and is the
fundamental moment of the narrative.
Whilst Joe runs towards the danger, he hears the shout again, followed by a child s
cry, enfeebled by the wind . Now that a child has been involved in this danger, it
becomes all the more grave, for nothing provokes more feeling then the possibility
of a child perishing. This in itself goads the reader to read on, willing the child to
be saved, yet prepared for it to die. Yet we are still unaware as to what this danger
is exactly. As our hero races towards it, we are treated to a rather mathematical
description of what is happening around him through the viewpoint of a buzzard,
again giving the impression that this is something Joe has been recollecting and
scrutinizing since it took place, looking at it from all angles, therefore giving it
even more importance. The only clue we are given is the narrator revealing that
the event about to take place is a fall, but who s? While Joe rushes to the scene, so
too do others; John Logan, family doctor, wife and two children; Joseph Lacey,
captain of his local bowls team, living alone with his wife; Toby Greene, farm
labourer with a reliant mother; James Gadd, wife and mentally handicapped child;
Jed Perry, twenty eight and
Immigration Foreigner Or Citizen
Foreigner or Citizen Over the years immigration has continued to be a discussion
of intense national debate. The effect of immigration have been looked at as
positive and negative. The economy and government has been affected in a
multitude of ways. The immigrants are offered sources for work and also
economic support for them and their families yet many American citizens are
without jobs and struggle to keep a household. Also many Americans do feel as if
they are being pushed to the side when it comes to availability in work sources and
the taxes people pay are going to the non natives who don t work but only live off of
others benefits. Contrary to that, the number of immigrant men who have a job
seems to be higher than native born men.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Immigrants have also been blamed when it comes to Destroying the way of
American s life. Why have U.S. natives been convinced that the immigrants are
destroying the U.S. when in fact immigration is good for the U.S. growth.
Economic Prosperity is what America is all about and working to get to. With
Immigration reforms and working to contain a stronger reform, it is estimated that
immigration allows migrants to Contribute their talents and skills to economic
prosperity for all (John Engler). The idea of prosperity comes from optimisty and
this is what comes from immigration. The skills and talents that come from
immigrants is what is mainly pushing more business reforms and creating a greater
economy in the U.S. The creation of reforms and the change of businesses is what
America needs and what immigrants are assisting on improving. An article written
by John Engler stated that The Partnership for a New American Economy estimates
that immigrants are nearly 50 percent more likely to start a business than native
born workers. This is incredible news and does give an idea to people who
supposedly says immigrants/immigration is destroying the U.S. When native born
workers are less likely to start a business it should say something about the ideas of
many politicians and everyday
Cultural Bias In Wikipedia Essay
The article, Cultural Bias in Wikipedia Content on Famous Persons, investigates if
there is any cultural bias in Wikipedia biographies. The writers started by discussing
what Wikipedia is and some of the issues with it. Some of these issues include: lack
of accuracy, unknown motives, uncertain expertise, volatility, unconfirmed or lacking
sources, and selective coverage biased by the specific interest of contributors. The
authors decided to test the last concern; they formed a hypothesis and tested
Wikipediain two different languages to see if there was any cultural bias. The writers
chose English and Polish. Primary English speaking countries have a different culture
than the Polish speaking country (Callahan, Herring 1899 1900). The writers chose
to use the United States and Poland as the test cultures. They chose the United States
since it was the largest English speaking country and the country in which Wikipedia
originated. They formed two research questions and two hypotheses. The questions
were about the differences between English and Polish versions of articles about
famous people and if they favor local... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These thirty people were divided into five different categories. There was a total of 60
people. Three from each country in each category. The categories were as follows:
sports, politics, music, moves, and academe/religion. The authors tested in structural
and thematic content. The structural category included elements such as entry length,
presence and frequency of outlines, lists, references, et cetera. The thematic category
included elements such as favorableness of coverage, education, nationality, political
ideology and controversy. All of these elements were looked at in each of the
following categories: American English, Pole English, American Polish, and Pole
Polish and then compared (Callahan, Herring 1903
The Circadian Rhythms Affects Sleep
Circadian rhythm is most known for the effect on sleep and wake, but it also
affects eating, hormone secretion, urination, and much more (Kalat, 2013).
Circadian rhythms are endogenous, which means they are generated from within
the body. When broken down into its latin roots circum and dies , circadian means
about a day. This name was coined as animal circadian rhythms last about a day, or
around 24 hours (Kalat, 2013). Though rhythms are around 24 hours, each
individual differs in their exact rhythm. This can be seen in the difference between
morning people , who are alert and awake early in the day, and night owls , who
awaken at a slower pace and reach their peak alertness later in the day (Taillard,
Philip, Coste, Sagaspe, Bioulac,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Insomnia and sleep complaints are common among those who are completely blind.
When the circadian rhythm of those with no light perception, it has been found that
they have abnormal rhythms. Their rhythm pattern is most commonly found to be
free running , which means that it is not entrained to the 24 hour period, by either
following a shorter or more commonly longer rhythm (Sack Lewy, 2001). These
people lack the ability to adapt to changes in sleep patterns based on light, so as
their schedule changes their rhythm is continually of course. Some days they may
have periods of good sleep and some days they may not, depending on where their
life timeline falls against their un entrained circadian
Black Homosexuals
The lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community in the United States
exhibit great heterogeneity in its members racial and ethnic, class, religious, and
other sociodemographic backgrounds and characteristics. However, the LGBT
community is often represented as a monolithic group with unified social, economic,
and political agendas, especially since the large sociopolitical mobilization for the
legalization of same sex marriage that lasted more than a decade and came to fruition
just last year in 2015. Scholars and activists have criticized this monolithic
representation of the LGBTcommunity as white, affluent, and highly educated
movers and shakers of the larger society (Duggan 2012), and this voice was

Strength Of Goodyear
Strength a)Marketing A good marketing strategy is very important for a company to
promote and advertise their product. As for Goodyear Tires and Rubber Company,
marketing could be one of the strength for the company. In United Stated, Goodyear

Goodyear has faced decline about 3.2% in market share for passenger car

weak in management in order to maintain themselves on the top in tires industry and
can t compete among their competitor as well as differentiate themselves from their
The Worst Day Of My Life Essay
The worst day of my life was in the afternoon of September 16, 2011. I had to be
woken up to get ready for school, rode the bus for an hour and a half, and spent the
majority of my day wishing I was back at home. When my wish did come true, I
immediately regretted it. I loved being home, but once I made my way inside my
house and opened the door, I had the feeling that the rest of my day would be
anything but lovely. Upon stepping foot into my home, I realized that there was
an eerie vibe surrounding me. Typically my mother would be sitting on the sofa
waiting for me to arrive so she can give me a hug and ask me about my day. This
was not the case. I walked inside my house and was surrounded by nothing but a
piercing silence and anguish. Mom? I shouted, worried as to where she was. I
noticed that the light in her room was on, so I instinctively approached in that
direction. I made my way past the kitchen table and I then faintly heard her voice.
The closer I got, the more I could make out what she was saying. Yes, I understand.
She spoke to someone. I ll tell him. At this point I was just outside her door. I
noticed that she was sitting on her bed, her back away from me. Her head was
down and she was holding her phone to her ear. Her hand was trembling. Okay,
thank you for telling me. She murmured and hung up the phone. She put her face in
her hands and this was when I spoke. Mom? I asked her. Mom, what s going on? Are
you okay?

The various ethnic groups of the Habsburg Empire for national recognition. The Jews on the other hand sought the repeal of discriminatory taxes and legislation. They championed natural not national rights. Secondly the new middle class worked under harsh conditions for little pay. They protested against new technologies such as machines, at the same time, they lacked an cohesive agenda. Marx would later attribute this to their lack of class conciseness in the Communist Manifesto. It should be noted that most of these workers were reeling against Jewish industrial leaders, so it is safe to say that the Jewsdid not play an active role... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though the Fundamental Laws extended Religious Freedoms, it also worked to fully alienate the Jewish people from Galician politics. One of the requirements of holding office, was to fall under a nationally recognized language. This was calculated in the new census procedures, in which citizens had to list both their language and associated nationality. The Census did not consider Jewish or Yiddish as legitimate responses, thus further alienating the Jewish population. These new regulations created a Polish majority in the Diet, under which both the Jews and Rutherians had limited suffrage. It soon became evident to some members of the Jewish elite, that political consciousness was essential to gaining freedom. In 1868, the first hint of a Jewish Nationalism movement appeared with the creation of Shomer Israel in Lemberg. Though originally this was not a politically active group it would later push for widespread Jewish

  • 4. Global Warming And Its Effects Global Warming The earth is getting warmer, animals and their habitats are declining, human health is at risk and the cause of all this terror is Global Warming. Global warming will cause many parts of the world to change. In the next 50 years climate change could be the cause of more than a million terrestrial species becoming extinct. Sea levels will raise which means more flooding and is not good for the plants. With too much water the plants will die and herbivores will lose their food source as well as their habitats. As a result the food chain will be broken and survival for any creature is slim to none. In conclusion, Global Warming is an important issue, but before we can devise any solutions we must first understand the causes. This paper will focus on the causes of global warming and argue that excessive carbon dioxide emissions is the predominate cause. This paper will start of briefly discussing the history of Global Warming (GW) by explaining how greenhouse gases contribute to GW through the greenhouse effect and how production of these gases has increased along with rise in global temperatures. Next, it will explain the causes of global warming including carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrus oxide (fertilizer) emissions. The strengths and the weaknesses of each cause will be looked at; prompting the conclusion that inflated carbon dioxide emissions are the essential driver. The final segment of the paper will conclude and explain policy

Growing up in the states, I was taught in my household to speak in two languages, Vietnamese and English. It was challenging to wrap my head around them, but it s become second nature to me now. Most of the people during the prehistoric era had the hardest time communicating with each other. Oddly enough I can sort of relate to them. Talisman should investigate about how independent Kurdistan is from the rest of Iraq, if there is any singe of conflict between Kurdistan and the government of Iraq, Talisman then should clear it out with the Iraqi government. It is as I mentioned an unstable region, so there is a great chance of conflicts. Talisman should clear out how the shares after oil discovery will be divided, since that they are not sure of finding oil or not, there might be some conflicts after the oil discovery, simply because oil is demanded all over the world, so the Iraqi government might change it s mind and decide to get its share of the profit. Talisman should use the media to their side before any other conflict appears. There should be some meetings with NGOs to clear out Talismans policy and intentions in entering Iraq. There has to be a communication between Talisman and the NGOs to make sure that the company is away from funding any civil wars. That way, shareholders will feel even more comfortable, and the company will not risk its reputation. V. Insufficient Time Even if various elements of adverse possession were met, it is alleged that the adverse possession did not last for the full statutory period, or that the adverse possession was interrupted by a period of non use. • 10. Women Of Hamlet By William Shakespeare Women of Hamlet Women are a very important part of this world although they are sometimes not portrayed that way. One would think they would be seen as significant because of the fact that women make up almost half of the world s population. Throughout all of history, females have been considered the weaker sex. In the play, Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare, women are portrayed as weak minded and unfaithful. The inability to correctly make important life decisions, a weakened mental state, and complete obedience to men all contribute to this point. First, women are shown unable to make to make decisions; even simple choices, if made against a man s advice, turn into chaos. At the conclusion of the play, Hamlet, Gertrude makes a choice that goes against what her husband wants: QUEEN. The Queen carouses to thy fortune, Hamlet. HAMLET. Good madam! KING. Gertrude, do not drink. QUEEN. I will, my lord; I pray you pardon me. (5.2.262 64) Soon after this exchange of words, the Queen falls ill to the poisoned drink and dies. The only time she ever makes a choice for herself, she dies because of it. This adds evidence by showing she is not able to make a correct decision. Ophelia dies earlier on in the play of suspected suicide. She drowns after going insane over her father s death, while her brother is left perfectly sane. Laertes may want revenge, but his wits are in good shape. Left without her father to make every single choice for

One of the areas of the health care system that has developed the most is the dental field. Now a days, the diversity of dental procedures performed on people of different ages is extraordinary. Dental treatment requires a certain amount of time and it is difficult to keep a child still. Under these circumstances dentists will often recommend some form of pharmacological sedation. For the most part, dental procedures are ambulatory; meaning patients will go home shortly after the procedure is done. To facilitate this, dentists use oral sedation or intranasal sedation instead of general anesthesia. General anesthesia not only will significantly increase the cost of treatment, but also the risk as well. The use of oral sedation or intranasal sedation represents an advantage for dentists, who can perform a treatment that without sedation could not be accomplished. On the contrary, drug response from patients represents a major risk that can not be ignored. Due to the great risk of advanced reactions in patients after receiving a drug or a combination of drugs, researchers are constantly working on finding better and safer sedative agents. In this paper I will discuss the findings on several research papers in regards to safer and efficient sedatives for dental procedures on children. Oral sedation is the simplest and also the most convenient method used to manage uncooperative patients. The reason behind this is its easy way of administration (oral) and the lack of injections, which is one of the major fears in children. Sedatives could be also administered in its gas form, but that would

A person s eating habits can show what kind of person they are and why it maybe they are eating this way. That is what Mark Menjivar aimed to prove as he took photographs of what he saw in different people s fridges and collected them for his series You Are What You Eat . Menjivar traveled to 20 communities throughout the nation, and took pictures inside what was in a total 60 people s fridges. He was trying to explore the tie between eating habits and identity. There isn t any evidence of him cooking anything for himself. This allowed me to come to the conclusion that it s due to him being a male bachelor, who probably doesn t know how to cook. There s also the possibility that it s due to him not having enough time to cook for himself. Most of that food in the Styrofoam boxes are probably bar food that he took home, because it was convenient for him. In the article, Menjivar mentioned how taking the photograph was so unbearable due to the stench coming from the fridge. It s pretty clear the fridge would smell, without him stating it. The fridge looked absolutely atrocious. The second photograph in 2012, was still a cluttered mess, but there were no take out Styrofoam boxes. The fast food had been replaced with some healthier options like humus, tuna, yogurt, some greens, and plenty of drinks. For a bartender, I expected a lot more liquor in to be in both fridges. I was kind of shocked to see there were more in 2012, and barely any in the photo in 2008. It s evident that his bad eating habits had changed, even Menjivar mentions this. He also says that the bartender had significantly lost weight. Not only did his fridge look different, the bartender had changed as well due to his new eating

Systems thinking is a method of thinking that looks at the interconnectedness between different elements rather than a linear cause and effect approach and sees patterns of change rather than fixed snapshots . In essence it is a view on the whole picture (Anderson, R 1994). Peter Senge and Andres Edwards expressed the importance of system thinking in that it is necessary for understanding the dynamic complexity of a situation , anticipating the unintended consequences of proposed actions and implementing lasting solutions (Higgins, K 2014). Perhaps the scarier fact however is that children are being affected too with 10% of school aged children around the world being overweight, and a quarter of these children being obese (Lobstein, T et al 2004). With the obesity epidemic trend and its health consequences on the rise (Walley, A et al 2006) there is a dire need for developing better solutions and taking action. Contrary to belief, obesity has no clearly defined solution. Many believe that it is a chosen lifestyle and that by just exercising more and eating healthier the problem will be solved. This false mindset is at the core of the problem as portrayed in the iceberg model and addresses just the tip of the iceberg . There is in fact a bigger picture at play. Other characteristics on an individual level like physiological and psychological factors are also a major influence. Obesity is one of the most genetically predisposed traits (Walley, A et al 2006). Genetic studies have shown that heritability estimates for obesity are high (typically gt;70%), which parallels with other polygenic diseases like

Finally, while Cisco is growing 15 percent per year, that s down significantly from the 40 percent growth that we ve had since inception, save for 2001. So we need to identify high growth markets and products that we could design and build. If we grow by purchasing technology firms with already established products or services, should we stick to our knitting by buying firms with products and services closely related to our existing business? Or should we diversify by buying firms that are very different from our basic business, routers and switches? For instance, Cisco has the opportunity to acquire a firm that specializes in technology security (spam, viruses, malware, and other Internet threats), an area in which it has no experience. What s more likely to work and be less risky, buying firms with similar products or services (like Cisco s) or buying firms with different products or services? Basically, should Cisco move beyond its core business? Finally, if we do decide to buy firms with already established products or services, how can we make sure those acquisitions work? Those who provided acclamation for the novel believed that it portrayed the impending possibility of the future and what it might bring. Detention centers, in general, are larger facilities that are often regional to national in scope or coverage. Many say that the term detention center is a really broad name that pertains to a facility or place where persons are confined. According to the BOP (Bureau of Prison, U.S.), a detention center is a place where you confine individuals who are not yet declared convicts but are charged for something. These individuals have not qualified for bail. Nevertheless, if a person will be deemed a threat to others and even a flight risk or somebody who might fly away just to escape the charges filed against him or her, then most likely he or she will be held captive inside the detention center prior conviction. Jails can also be described similarly. In the U.S., detention centers can be a jail, a prison, a concentration camp, an internment camp and many other places where one or a group of people a re detained. These centers are classified as maximum, medium and minimum detention centers. Obviously the maximum security is the place where very violent criminals are housed like those who are sentenced for life imprisonment. Medium security detention centers are for those who ll serve for middle range sentences. Compared to maximum, the prisoners in here have less criminal background. The minimum detention center, also known as a form of work camp, is meant for those who have offended a policy or law for the very first time. This

He says that experience is the only guide in reasoning concerning matters of fact (105). He likewise contends that miracles exist primarily among the ignorant. It forms strong presumption against all supernatural and miraculous relations that they are observed chiefly to abound among ignorant and barbarous nations. He goes further with the idea that if someone testifies about a miracle, they received them from ignorant and barbarous ancestors... Further, the advantages are so great of starting an imposture among ignorant people that . . . it has a much better chance for succeeding in remote countries than if the first scene had been laid in a city renowned for arts and knowledge (126). Results Table 1 shows the standard of the standard of the expirement. It is used to compare the color of the red cabbage expirement to form an educated guess on the pH level of the different types of water. Table 2 shows the pH numbers we got from the red cabbage expirement and from the pH tester. This informations enables to compare the red cabbage and the pH tester numbers in order to prove the red cabbages accuaracy, and to prove our hypothesis that all of the pH numbers of the different types of drinking water are relatively close. • 39. The Effects Of Caffeine On Anaerobic Performance The Effects of Caffeine on Anaerobic Performance Introduction Caffeine is a natural stimulant which is commonly used in sport for increasing heart rate via the nervous system. Anaerobic performance is when an exercise or activity is done in limited volumes of oxygen this can be examples such as jumping, sprinting and the overall effects it has on sports. There are very little articles in which write about the effects of caffeine on anaerobic performance in which most articles talk about 3mg/kg, however, there is very little research on the effects of using lower dosage on anaerobic performance. The main purpose of this text will determine the effect of caffeine on anaerobic respiration and the effect it has on performance Discussion Jump performance is a form of anaerobic performance that is used in sports. Caffeine has shown to improve anaerobic performance by increasing muscle power and agility on volleyball players Del Coso et al. (2014). The study suggested that caffeine increased in volleyball skills required such as jump height by 3mg/kg, however, the study didn t measure lower dosage to see if it will still have the same effect also Abian et al. (2014) found that caffeine had a significant effect on jump performance in badminton players. Both trials support the effects of caffeine on anaerobic respiration. Both trials underwent a double blind trial in which both volunteers and experimenters had no effects on the results, this allows the results to be more reliable.

Budweiser commercials are a Super Bowl tradition. This commercial in particular was somewhat of a sequel from the previous 2014 Super Bowl commercial. Both starred a small golden Labrador puppy, a Clydesdale horse and possibly the horse trainer or owner. Each year Budweiser is faced with the challenge of topping the previous year s commercial. An example would be in 2013, they told the story of the bond between the horse and its trainer. The next year, they added a puppy. Budweiser s Lost Dog relies heavily on connections for conveying its message and appeals strongly to the emotions whether it be the music, the idea of a lost puppy, or in through the powerful friendships. Throughout the entirety of the commercial, Budweiser does not seem to go out of their way to advertise for their beer. The Budweiser logo only appears twice in the whole one minute commercial, on the hat of the owner and then at the very end of the commercial. A truly great advertiser is able to convey a message without clearly stating it. Instead they rely solely on the connections that can be made throughout the commercial. In... This strategy is very efficient because it allows for the advertiser to get a whole minute of attention of all their viewers. The hook that Budweiser uses to pull in their viewers is the friendships between the horse and the little puppy. It is not directly stated but it is implied through body language, sound effects, and different angles. This bond keeps pulling the two together and it tells a story of these two friends who were separated and then they finally find each other and are happy again. This is something that many people can relate to which is also a very smart strategy. They make it relatable and therefore easier to understand and much more

  • 43. Battle Of Hastings Dbq The Battle of Hastings happened on the 14th of October 1066 in East Sussex which is outside of Hastings. The battle was between Harold Godwinson and William, duke of Normandy. There are three main reasons why William won the Battle of Hastings; this is because William had a head start and he also has cavalry. The main reason he won was because during the battle William ordered his foot soldiers to run away so that the English would go downhill after them. One reason why William won the Battle of Hastings was because of his preparation and readiness for the battle. His army were provided with cavalry that were trained to kick, bite and head butt. This is shown in the Bayeux Tapestry and source 3 where there are soldiers seen fighting on horses. I know that William s half brother organised the creation of the tapestry so the information on it is likely to be accurate. This meant William won the Battle of Hastings because he had an extra weapon that the English didn t have therefore could surprise them, attack and leave more damage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... William ordered his foot soldiers to fake retreat. This is found in Source 5 because it shows William and Harold s movements. My opinion is that doing this is very intelligent because doing this tricks the opposing team. This meant that William won the Battle of Hastings because it this meant that the English got confused so they followed the Normans down the hill, therefore breaking the shield wall. When they were at the bottom of the hill, the Normans killed the Bretons quickly so without William making this decision, it would ve been less likely that the Saxons would ve won the Battle of

This is the opening sentence of Ian McEwan s novel Enduring Love , and in this first sentence, the reader is unwittingly drawn into the novel. An introduction like this poses the question, the beginning of what? Gaining the readers curiosity and forcing them to read on. The very word beginning allows us an insight into the importance of this event, for the narrator must have analysed it many a time in order to find the moment in which it all began, and so it is obviously significant period of his life. Whilst Joe runs towards the danger, he hears the shout again, followed by a child s cry, enfeebled by the wind . Now that a child has been involved in this danger, it becomes all the more grave, for nothing provokes more feeling then the possibility of a child perishing. This in itself goads the reader to read on, willing the child to be saved, yet prepared for it to die. Yet we are still unaware as to what this danger is exactly. As our hero races towards it, we are treated to a rather mathematical description of what is happening around him through the viewpoint of a buzzard, again giving the impression that this is something Joe has been recollecting and scrutinizing since it took place, looking at it from all angles, therefore giving it even more importance. The only clue we are given is the narrator revealing that the event about to take place is a fall, but who s? The effect of immigration have been looked at as positive and negative. The economy and government has been affected in a multitude of ways. The immigrants are offered sources for work and also economic support for them and their families yet many American citizens are without jobs and struggle to keep a household. Also many Americans do feel as if they are being pushed to the side when it comes to availability in work sources and the taxes people pay are going to the non natives who don t work but only live off of others benefits. With Immigration reforms and working to contain a stronger reform, it is estimated that immigration allows migrants to Contribute their talents and skills to economic prosperity for all (John Engler). The idea of prosperity comes from optimisty and this is what comes from immigration. The writers started by discussing what Wikipedia is and some of the issues with it. Some of these issues include: lack of accuracy, unknown motives, uncertain expertise, volatility, unconfirmed or lacking sources, and selective coverage biased by the specific interest of contributors. The authors decided to test the last concern; they formed a hypothesis and tested Wikipediain two different languages to see if there was any cultural bias. The writers chose English and Polish. Primary English speaking countries have a different culture than the Polish speaking country (Callahan, Herring 1899 1900). The writers chose to use the United States and Poland as the test cultures. I had to be woken up to get ready for school, rode the bus for an hour and a half, and spent the majority of my day wishing I was back at home. When my wish did come true, I immediately regretted it. I loved being home, but once I made my way inside my house and opened the door, I had the feeling that the rest of my day would be anything but lovely. Upon stepping foot into my home, I realized that there was an eerie vibe surrounding me. Typically my mother would be sitting on the sofa waiting for me to arrive so she can give me a hug and ask me about my day. This was not the case. I walked inside my house and was surrounded by nothing but a piercing silence and anguish. Mom? I shouted, worried as to where she was. I noticed that the light in her room was on, so I instinctively approached in that direction. I made my way past the kitchen table and I then faintly heard her voice. The closer I got, the more I could make out what she was saying. Yes, I understand. She spoke to someone. I ll tell him. At this point I was just outside her door. I noticed that she was sitting on her bed, her back away from me. Her head was down and she was holding her phone to her ear. Her hand was trembling. Okay, thank you for telling me. She murmured and hung up the phone. She put her face in her hands and this was when I spoke. Mom? I asked her. Mom, what s going on? Are you okay?
