My Exercise At High School Athletes
I have always been a very active person. I workout five times a week for an hour
and half a day, as well as walking across campus two to three times a day. My
kneecaps have gotten stronger and I created a workout routine that has worked for
me. My weight and my blood pressure are normal. The reason I needed to create my
workout is because I had been a three sport varsity athlete in high school but I
suffered kneecap injuries, which forced me to stop playing. The goals for my
workout were to build up my knees and thigh areas. I also wanted to build muscle
mass in my upper body. I need to eat a good healthy balance of food and drink. I
don t care much for chocolate or sweets and that helps me when it comes to
choosing what to eat. However, I did come to realize that I need to eat more
variety of fruits and vegetables. These goals were met throughout the course of the
semester and I was able to succeed in my workout. I had to make two visits to the
Human Performance Lab Center to get my results to my baseline my level of
fitness. The first time I went to the Human Performance Lab Center it was with the
whole class and the second time by myself. My results from both assessments were
the exact same scores. The Center checked for: weight, height, Body Mass Index
(BMI), body fat, Resting Blood Pressure (BP), Cardiorespiratory fitness, sit and
reach, push ups, curl ups, shoulder flexibility, grip, posture, and wall sitting.

Abraham Lincoln said, You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading
it today. Often times in our society young people push off responsibilities, it s easy to
do. Technology and other innovations have made it convenient for us to become
distracted and to push things off. However when growing up, sometimes taking
responsibility cannot be avoided. In coming of age stories, the author uses symbolism
to exemplify how the protagonists experience new independence and responsibility
while they transition from childhoodto adulthood.
An example of this can be found in the short story, The Grave, written by Katherine
Anne Porter. In this short story two young kids, a brother and sister, go out

Ballantyne. This community is on what we consider the south side of Charlotte. In
February of this year, members of my community were told that there was going to
be a public housing development built on a seven acre lot that has been vacant for
many years. An emergency community meeting was called; several of my neighbors
packed the room, all wanting information about what and where Charlotte s next

With this being said, the community leaders do not treat any of the people of my
community different, they show us all the same amount of respect. They make me
feel welcomed whenever I participate in any events, and on many occasions, they
ve made me feel needed when it comes to our children at the community center.
When I mentioned to my neighbor, the assignment that I had to write about, she
and I came inside and answered many of these questions together. Ann, is white
and has been a member of this neighborhood since its creation, in fact, the
neighborhood was named after her grandfather and his brothers. She has

Results showed over 335 out 4,214 were cutting themselves at this point in their life.
That shows 7.9% of the students have this addiction (Hall, p. 623, 2010). While
these numbers are everlasting changing, self harm needs to be addressed to all ages
just as other addictions are spoken about. Eating disorders are taught in the early ages
of elementary school. Sex education is taught the fifth grade. Self harmis not a
discussion in sex education (Khantzian 668). The only way this addiction is taught
to children is by explaining suicidal thoughts and having those thoughts turn into
forms of self injury. Teachers and parents are not able to recognize the effects until
it reaches a point where the person can no longer hide their pain. With the numbers
of this growing addiction and the urge to begin this addiction rapidly increasing,
the factors of self harm need to be discussed as one entity instead of comparing
them to another addiction (Wang 666). Different generations and different ethnic
groups are involved when it comes to self harm addictions. There is no single self
injurer profile. The rates of self harm continue to grow, especially in certain
communities (Hall 623). In an article Non suicidal Self Injury among Ethnically and
Racially Diverse Emerging Adults, research was performed to observe those with the
addiction of NSSI in specific ethnic groups. The groups were gathered and were

McCourt uses the main character, Frank, to help support his theme. The narrator of
the story explains that he has to do a lot to provide for his family when Frank
thinks, I can t spend my whole life running around lifting lemonade from pubs
(McCourt 10). This is significant because it shows that Frank and his family struggle
with poverty which prevents them from being able to go out and buy food

The Education Of Schools And Schools Essay
Many schools in America are divided by cities and districts which locks in certain
students for specific schools. Some of these schools are well provided, and others
are not due to the income of that district which the students live in. These borders
for schools causes a problem in which certain educational tools and experience are
restricted for those individuals who have a low income. The inadequate funding of
schools for certain districts throughout Americahave been a problematic
enforcement of disparity. This continues to promote the ideas of racism,
segregation, and social class by isolating schools based off the income and having
certain limitations due to ethnicity. In order to change the things for the better, we
must bring awareness to this problem and work towards equal funding of schools.

class, and racial isolation is often an outgrowth of residential segregation and
socioeconomic background (Mickelson and smith 2011) Schools are one of the
foundations in which society is formed through thegain of knowledge and
experience. If we are simply segregating the distribution of certain knowledge due to
the income of a person, we are restricting the right for a person to obtain equal
knowledge. With the educationsystem being constricted due to the income of the
student s family, they are unable to fulfill their grasp of knowledge in comparison to
the schools of a wealthier district.

to reside with their parents to cut down costs to save for both up keep and to pay off
