Essays On Beloved
Writing an essay on the topic "Essays On Beloved" can be quite challenging. Firstly, the subject
matter itself, which likely revolves around Toni Morrison's novel "Beloved," is rich and complex.
It delves into themes of slavery, trauma, memory, and the supernatural, requiring a deep
understanding of literary analysis and historical context.
Crafting an essay on such a topic demands meticulous research to explore various critical
interpretations, historical backgrounds, and literary techniques employed by the author.
Moreover, one needs to navigate through the layers of symbolism and metaphor present in the
text to provide insightful analysis and interpretation.
Another difficulty lies in developing a coherent and original thesis statement that contributes
meaningfully to the existing discourse on the novel. With numerous scholarly articles, essays,
and academic discussions available, finding a unique angle or perspective can be daunting.
Furthermore, structuring the essay effectively to present arguments cohesively and persuasively
requires skillful organization and clarity of thought. Balancing textual evidence, analysis, and
personal insights while maintaining academic rigor poses its own set of challenges.

research prowess, and writing finesse. It requires dedication, patience, and a deep appreciation
for the complexities of literature and historical narratives.

Elie Wiesel as a Survivor of the Holocaust
Six million perished in the flames, mass shootings and gas chambers of
concentration camps during the Holocaust. This started when the Nazi party
established a Final Solution that sought out to eradicate the inferior Jewish race
from Germany and the world ( Holocaust ). A person cannot look at this event and
see nothing except for the dark, evil side of human nature. However, if a person
looks at the Holocaustfrom a survivor s point of view, they can see the good side of
human nature, especially if someone looks at it from Elie Wiesels perspective. Elie
Wiesel and his family were Romanian Jewswho were, unfortunately, swept into the
Holocaust s horrors. Elie managed to escape the Holocaust using tools of survival,
including love for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When someone takes another s hair, clothing or anything else that makes them
unique, that person takes away their identity and, therefore, their humanity. This is
even more so when the deceased are not given proper burials and their remains
combined and recycled as gardening materials and money for the Nazis.
Everything that made these people human was stripped, cut and burned from
them. The dark side of human nature comes out in situations like the Holocaust
when people struggle with the obstacles that life throws at them. They naturally
push all of their woes towards others to attempt to justify their issues and make
them feel like they have control over their lives. On the other hand, these people
do not always succeed in completely dictating others lives. Survivors like Elie
Wiesel prove that the good side of human nature can arise even during times as
malevolent as the Holocaust. Elie used certain tools of survival, such as love for
family. This is seen when Elie and his father are on the train to a concentration
camp, and the dead are periodically thrown off the train. At one stop, Elie s father
appeared to be a corpse. Elie screamed at the men who tried to throw his father out
of the train. Elie hit him several times to try and wake his father up, and his father
eventually woke up (Wiesel 98 99). This action shows the survivor quality of love
for family because Elie depends on his father s companionship and his father depends
on Elie to survive. They
My Desire For The Veterinary Profession
A Veterinarian is not only an activist of animal welfare; he or she is also a teacher,
a role model, and an active member of the wider community. So that I might realize
these responsibilities to the fullest extent, I have engaged in a variety of
professional, academic, service, and personal disciplines throughout my student
career. I believe my continuing development as both an individual and aspiring
professional will allow me to share these experiences and contribute to the diversity
of my Veterinary class. My enthusiasm for the veterinary profession has only
cultivated since my childhood by a deep fascination with animals and their health.
From this foundation I developed an enduring sense of responsibility and pride in
providing care for all creatures, even as my perspectives and aspirations matured. For
instance, my understanding of the community role of veterinarians expanded rapidly
when I began shadowing various small and large animal vets three years ago. I
participated first hand in treating and dressing wounds, dentistry, sheath cleaning,
preparing vaccines, administering medication, surgical preparation, post operation
care, taking vital statistics, collecting samples, and monitoring vital signs of
anesthetized patients. I also eagerly took part in a summer internship two years ago
at the Greyhound Placement Clinic in Augusta where I discovered that I was in my
element working side by side with a veterinarian. Ever since these past several years I

E Commerce Electronic commerce, commonly known as e commerce consists of the
buying and selling of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet
and other computer networks.
Electronic commerce is generally considered to be the sales aspect of e business. It
also consists of the exchange of data to facilitate the financing and payments aspects
of the business transactions. Economists have theorized that e commerce ought to
lead to intensified price competition, as it increases consumers ability to gather
information about products and prices.

Electronic commerce that is conducted between businesses is referred to as business
to business or B2B. B2B can be open to all interested parties (e.g. commodity
exchange) or limited to specific, pre qualified participants (private electronic market).
Electronic commerce that is conducted between businesses and consumers, on the
other hand, is referred to as business to consumer or B2C. This is the type of
electronic commerce conducted by companies such as Amazon.com.
Online shopping is a form of electronic commerce where the buyer is directly online
to the seller s computer usually via the internet. There is no intermediary service. The
sale and purchase transaction is completed electronically and interactively in real time
such as Amazon.com for new books. If an intermediary is present, then the sale and
purchase transaction is called electronic commerce such as eBay.com.

The Modern Identity Of The United States Of America
The modern identity of the United States of America is predicated on the notion that
all men are created equal. However, behind the idealism of aphorisms such as these
found in America s founding documents exists the truth of the American situation:
that equality has exceptions. In the eyes of Thomas Jefferson and other framers, all
men were white landowners. The dichotomy of equality for all men and the third
estate was a feature of democracy in America for centuries and a defining
characteristic of the American South in particular. The belief in race based dichotomy
was perpetuated by the landed gentry of the South, the political elite, to the masses,
establishing the rise of a conservative base in the latter half of nineteenth century
which hindered black civil rights for decades and defines the enduring qualities of the
Southern political ethos to this day. Alexis de Tocqueville, in his book Democracy in
America, states that while the [settlers] found themselves in analogous
situations...they governed themselves on different principles. In the settlement of the
Southern colonies of North America in the 1600s, an aristocratic society began
develop from the cultivation of crops. Land formed the basis of the aristocracy,
which was supported by privilege from birthright and inheritance (Serow). As
plantations began to develop, their owners became the upper echelon of Southern
society, around which the majority of political activity was centered. Powerful voices
My Opinion Volkswagen ( Vw ) Made A Very Wise Decision
By...
In my opinion Volkswagen (VW) made a very wise decision by choosing Deutsch
LA agency to market themselves. The agency focused on informing customers by
different advertising techniques such as direct marketing and digital/interactive
marketing. VW used direct marketing by sending brochures and promotional offers
or coupons to the targeted customers (Belch Belch, 2015, p. 21). There was also
use of various TV commercials to let the customers know about different VW
models and changing the view of the customers (Belch Belch, 2015, p. 68). Today,
people is engaged most of the time in social media or looking for certain
information in Google. Deutsch LA agency took advantage of it and made VW
reachable to the customers through Facebook and Twitter which allowed the
customers to follow them, get information regarding the vehicles and interact
directly with the company. Besides, the YouTube video too helped to increase the
followers in the social media largely which was a plus point for them (Belch Belch,
2015, p. 68). Advertising is very important for an automotive company such as VW
because customers needs to be informed time and again what products have been
launched and what offers are they getting. As, advertising is one of the best way to
attract customers and interact with them so the automotive companies should be
careful while investing their every penny. For example, we can learn a good lesson
from VW. There was a time when people didn t even knew what products
What Does The Yellow Symbolize In The Great Gatsby

Symbolism in The Great Gatsby Symbolism prevails above all other things
throughout F. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby. The author s use of symbolism
creates many themes throughout the story. Some of the main themes recognized
throughout the story are those regarding lies and deceit, marriage, money, religion,
and isolation. The symbols creating these themes are represented with colors. The
author uses color throughout the story to symbolize deceit, innocence, envy,
lifelessness, and sadness.
The color yellow is used to symbolize deceit. Gatsby s yellow car is used to represent
his deceiving life. He wants everyone to perceive him as a well off, impressive ...

The color gray is used to describe the desolate valley of ashes, which then makes
anyone or anything else associated with the color gray lifeless as well. George
Wilson is described as being covered in ashen dust along with everything else in the
valley of ashes which suggests that he has lost hope in his marriage with Myrtle
and is depressed as a result. More than once, it is suggested that Dr. TJ Eckelburg s
eyes are the all seeing eyes of God. The association of Eckelburg to God may lead
readers to associate the valley of ashes to a place such as purgatory, where lifeless,
hopeless souls remain under the eyes of God, hoping to one day be freed. The
religious references made in the book obviously suggest that one of the themes is
religion or perhaps the lack of it. The only mention of God is in reference to eyes on
a billboard, which suggests that maybe the obsession with wealth and fortune has
surpassed the importance of
Social Stratification In The United States
A society is made up of different classifications of people, and the way they are
classified is based on the resources they own. What sociologists call this is social
stratification. According to the book, society ranks individuals into socioeconomic
stratums based on their income, wealth, education, and race. Individuals are put into
a specific social classthat describes the way they live. The way social stratification
divides and categories people vary from each society. Social stratification also
implies that resources are often unevenly distributed. In which case results in a class
system. In the United States there are three class distinctions: upper, middle, and
lower class. There are additional subcategories that pertain to each class. For example
the middle classcan be divided into the upper middle class and the lower middle
class. The difference between the two is that people who belong in the upper middle
class tend to have more comfortable incomes, while the lower middle class has a
harder time maintaining their decent lifestyle. Furthermore, the... Show more content

When doing a job interview, the one seeking a job has to dress appropriately; there
is a dress code individuals must follow to be perceived as professional. The same
concept can be applied when we talk about social classes. We can manipulate how
others see us not just by the way we act, but by what we own too. I m talking about
materialistic objects such as cars, houses, clothes and shoes. Even jewelry and
handbags. If an individual only has expensive world known brands, then we
assume they have the money to purchase those materials. If I, for example, was
born into a low social class, and want to show others that I have moved into the
upper class, I can shop at retail stores that sell known brands. It doesn t necessarily
have to be a lie. People have managed to move up the social ladder. The upper

A tarantulaЕ› perceives its surroundings primarily via sensory organs. Touch is its
keenest since in hunting it depends on vibrations giving off by the movements of its
prey. A tarantulaЕ› hair and spine are very sensitive and are used to sense chemical
signatures, vibrations, wind direction, and possibly sound. Tarantula has eyes that
are small and are usually set in two rows of four and are not able to see much more
than light, darkness, and motion.
Male tarantulas are bright in color, smaller in size, and are more active than
females. Females tend to be plumper and more relax. It is usually impossible to tell
male from female in juvenile spiders. In adults you need to look right after a molt.
At that time, a male will exhibit a structure called the pal pal bulb on the underside
of the front leg like structure called the pedipalp. He then uses his pedipalps to
deposit sperm into femaleВґs reproductive organs on the underside of her abdomen
Male tarantulas are smaller than females, making copulation dangerous for them.
Reproduction of a tarantula is very complicated. Summer and fall are the usual time
for tarantulas to mate. The male tarantula searches for a female late at night and in
the evening. As the males travel over a great distance at times, humans who see them
sometimes assume they are migrating. Actually this is simply part of the mating
process of tarantulas. When he finds a willing female waiting in
An Explication Of Langston Hughes Mother To Son
An Explication of Langston Hughes Mother to Son Langston Hughes once stated
in his own words that his whole purpose for writing was, to explain and illuminate
the Negro condition in America. In the poem Mother to Son , he denotes his belief
on racism in America. In Mother to Son , a mother is giving advice to her son
about life from her perspective and experiences. She wants her son to keep striving
on what he believes and to have a more prosperous life than what she had.
Langston Hughes was born in Joplin, Missouri in 1902. He lived with his
grandmother for most of her life but often stayed with his mother in Cleveland,

This was also during a time when Congress had passed several laws to protect
Negroes civil rights. In contrast, many whites disregarded the newly won rights of
Negroes. (World Book Encyclopedia. Civil Rights. Field Enterprises Educational
Corporation. Chicago. 1977. P.468) Like many other Lyrics, Mother to Son , is
expressing the thoughts and feelings of a single speaker and is written in first
person point of view. In the very first line, Well, son, I ll tell you , Hughes
demonstrates to the reader that this is going to be a first person point of view.
Readers can see that the mother is the central character in this poem because the
reader is focused on her next word as she describes her view of life. The mother
speaks her thoughts and feelings for the entirety of the poem but the boy doesn t
speak at all. This is called a dramatic monologue.
Langston s attitude toward life in Mother to Son is slightly unpleasant but solemn and
trustworthy. The reader gains a sense of sympathy for the mother as she tells her son
about her misfortunes from the past.
In Mother to Son , a mother is urging her son to keep striving with assurance to have
a more prosperous life than she had.
Langston Hughes was born in Joplin, Missouri in 1902. He was a well known poet
during the Harlem Renaissance. He believed strongly in his culture and he had faith
that things would change for the better.

The Alabama Joint Prison Reform Task Force Essay
1. What have you done to reduce racial discrimination in the criminal justice systems?
Governor Bentley is committed to removing racist language that addresses the
separation of black and white children in the education system in Alabama s 1901
Constitution. Bentley believes it would improve the general impression of Alabama
as a whole (Reutter). In the article, Governor s Office of Minority Affairs

the Governor s Office of Minority Affairs. The team behind this will notify the
Governor of any issues involving minorities, including women and children, in

Minority).
2. How have you implemented the recommendations of the Alabama Joint Prison
Reform Task Force?
The implementation of the Prison Reform Bill Act No. 2015 185, that was passed in
early 2015, was established to help prevent overcrowding in prisons and improve the
overall well being of the facilities used for convicted people as well as the staff. This
also was intended to imprison less nonviolent offenders and help reduce the amount
of criminal behavior they can potentially be engaged in after their conviction
(Funderburk). Criminal Justice Oversight and Implementation Council, established in
2014, is imperative to reform the criminal justice system in Alabama. The

Teddy is described in the beginning as being reckless and wild. He holds to that

Cultural Convergence And Cultural Culture
Ever since mankind came into existence, we have used certain specific habits that
have continued to be passed down throughout our families/people.These habits
contributed to survival, belief, and entertainment. Weather due to isolation or a
language barrier, these habits became acts of conduct that carried were are carried out
by a group of people that usually share the same language and/or location. As people
began to interact with people of different cultures, cultural convergence begins.
Cultural convergence includes cultures beginning to share characteristics, as they
share technology, language, and/or habits that are specific to each of their cultures.
Cultural convergence and cultural appropriation are completely different things.
Although many people speculate about the gray area between the two, there are very
distinct differences. Cultureconvergence (CC) usually happens unconsciously when
two peoples share habits throughout their interaction. Culture Appropriation (CA),
usually occurs consciously, when once people steal aspects of another s culture
without giving them the credit. CA can vary from hair styles, fashion, language
music and can pertain to ANY race. In the simplest form, cultural appropriation is
theft.Culture is used to help affirm identity. CA takes away the significance
/ meaning of aspects of a culture and makes it into a trend, thus making the people of
this culture insignificant as well as the significance of sacred parts that build up their
Pros And Cons Of Dog Parks
The lack of off leash styled dog parks across the United States of America have
brought much debate and unrest within communities. Cities and neighborhoods that
do not provide these types of dog parks make it difficult for pet owners to provide
exercise, social activities, and a place where dog and dogowners grow and learn
together. Park and recreationadvocates question the public advocacy on the assets and
location in construction for the dog park. Other locals are against the idea of off
leash style dog parks due to their concerns about safety and other potentially
problematic issues. Ed Fowley a reporter and dog owner from Los Angeles states,
...They don t know how strong the pack instincts are in their family pets. These
drives can and often do click into high gear when a dog is taken into a park with
strange dogs. (Fowley). Dog parks can vary from different shapes and sizes
however, the certain type of dog parks pertaining to this problem are those in
which dog owners are legally able to allow their dogs to roam unbound by leashes
or constrictions regulated by city and state. The park and recreation advocates of
communities who have few or little to none, off leash dog parks are struggled to
balance the fine line that crosses the accounts and finances of production all the
while, fight fear that it may create more issues. Families that use off leash dog
parks are able to thoroughly help and develop their dogs for a better life. Off leash
dog parks allow both pets and owners to learn and grow through exercising and
socializing without constant worry of infringing someone else rights. It benefits dogs
as they are given adequate space to run and use as an outlet meanwhile, recognizing
certain behaviors of more respectable and mature pets through socializing. Properly
exercising dogs allow them to relieve tension and unbend; this potentially changes
them from being noisy and irritable into more quite and friendlier animals. There
have been numerous accounts within my neighborhood where the local residents
have filed noise complaints on local dog owners. In the recent study, On the Fence:

In the short story, Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, by Tim O Brien, the author

the past, such as Duke University, University of Chicago, Ohio University, Rhode
Island School of Design as well as being involved in an independent study program
in New York. Prior to moving to New York, she became interested in and worked
on abstract paintings. When she was accepted to the program in New York, her
attention gravitated over to cultural and social theory, which ultimately led to her
developing the Truism series that was produced over a period of about two years.
Throughout the years, her work has been put in exhibitions all over the world,
some of which date back all the way to 1978. She is a conceptual and installation
artist mostly known for her LED signs which express a message to the public. She
still resides in New York to this day. The artwork I chose from her wide collection
is called Kind of Blue. For this piece, Holzer used LED signs and blue diodes. It is
an installation at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and due to the body of

The long blue vertical lines are more than likely smooth and without any roughness
because of the nature of the materials utilized. This installation actually moves. Since
there are different statements Holzer wanted to present in this artwork, some of the
panels move up from the bottom while the others move down from the top so that
viewers are able to read them as the words scroll by. Holzer uses phrases that most of
can relate to. The statements she uses have a certain sense of authority. The bold
capitalized letters give us an impression that it s important and the message is truth.
Some of the statements in her artwork may be jarring and unpleasant, but they hold
truth and make us question everything we think about society. I didn t find anything
she said regarding her reasoning or intent, but that s what I think she was
Literature Review Of Total Quality Management
Chapter Two: Literature Review
This chapter provides a review of the literature that has studied related topics to the
concepts of Total Quality Management (TQM) and Teamwork among healthcare
environment. The literature review included a search of multiple databases: Science
direct, Pubmed, Google scholar and Wiley online library. The keywords utilized in
the search engines were: Total quality management, teamwork, teamwork in
healthcare and teamwork improvement.
Organizations all over the world have to use different techniques for quality
improvement. TQM is one of the competitive strategies that are widely used within
organizations for improving quality and achieving success. The concept of TQM
was developed in the late of 1940s and 1960s in Japan after the Second World War by
Freigenbum, Juran and Deming. Top management commitment is one of the core
principles in TQM which assumed to have a vital and important role in creating an
organizational climate that empower staff (Ramesh and Ravi, 2013).
Customer Focus, leadership, continual improvement and teamwork are distinctive
TQM principles that are widely used in the healthcare. Customer here is the patient
who receives health services and the fulfillment of patient s needs and satisfaction is
the ultimate goal in any healthcare organization. Continuous improvement is the next

It is recognized that teamwork is essential for patient safety and one of the most
important facilitators in achieving positive cost effective outcomes (Austin et.al,
2012). However, teamwork in healthcare can be defined as a dynamic process
involving two or more health professionals with complementary backgrounds and
skills, sharing common health goals and exercising concerted physical and mental
effort in assessing, planning, or evaluating patient care (Xyrichis and Ream,
Business Level Strategy Of The Coca Cola Company And
Pepsi
Although business level and corporate level strategies differ in scope, development,
and enforcement, they interact in the achievement of organizational goals.
Consequently, it is important to assess the best strategies that an organization should
adopt as this defines its performance both in the short term and long term. As seen in
this study, the difference in choice of strategy between the Coca Cola Company and
Pepsi define their performance, command, and dominance of the market. The
strategies adopted by a firm ought to be in line with its organizational objective sand
goals. For instance, a long term business strategy affects the performance of the firm
in the future. Therefore, a proper choice of strategy guarantees good business
performance and satisfies all the company s stakeholders.... Show more content on

In the modern and evolving business environment, business level strategy contributes
significantly to the organization s efforts to gain a competitive advantage over their
competitors. The Coca Cola Company is one of the firms operating in international
markets, which face fierce competition from their competitors. Its main competitor is
the Pepsi Company, with others including Groupe Danone, Kraft Foods, and Dr.
Pepper Snapple Group Incorporated among others (Rao, Rao, Sivaramakrishna,
2008). Moreover, the firm has to address significant threats, including health
concerns, which are an emerging trend in the beverages industry. These concerns
pose a great challenge for the beverage producing firm, and particularly the Coca
Cola Company. For this reason, the company has launched a series of strategies to
counter these

The Early Influences of Rome
The early influences of Rome, according to the text, were the people of Etruia and
Greece. It is said that it all started in the southernmost Etruscan centers[1]. These
places, Caere, Tarquinii, Vulci, and Veii, were the first city states to be formed. It
wasn t long before the great city of Rome would rise. In this essay, we will briefly
comment on the founders of Romeand their influences. Taking each part of history
step by step hoping to uncover the secrets of Rome s first steps towards become a

There were however, other things besides religion and grammar that Rome received;
things like the Etruscan games are one of the many things that Rome adapted from
its neighbors. The Etruscans influence on Rome had to do with location. Towards the
end of the 7th century BCE, the Etruscans expanded their territories. Their territories
included Northern Italy, with the Po Valley league, and the Etruscan city states
controlled areas over Latium, which also included Rome and Campania to the
South. Hence the evolution of influence begins. In Livy, Romulus mentions one of
the Etruscan influences, I am inclined to agree with those who think that as a class
of public officers was borrowed from the same people from whom the sella curulis
and the toga praetexta were adopted their neighbors, the Etruscans so the number
itself also was taken from them. In this quote, not only does Romulus mention the
influence in clothes but the influence in government as well. The number he
mentions at the end of the quote has to do with twelve lictors he called to service.
A lictor is a public officer who attended on the chief Roman magistrates... the office
of lictor is said to have been derived by Romulus from the Etruscans.[10] The twelve
lictors were responsible for passing judgment on criminals after a trail. This included
Roman citizens, foreigners and slaves as well. Government was in fact another thing
The Day Of One Of The Church s Greatest Saints
June 22nd is the feast day of one of the Church s greatest saints, Thomas More. St.
Thomas More was one of the most gifted men of his day; he was a devout Catholic,
brilliant scholar, writer, lawyer, accomplished musician, and loving father. In addition
to his many talents, his popular image is one of a man, principled, steadfast,
courageous, who placed his own conscience above his king s demands. It was in
London that Thomas Morewas born on 7 February 1477, the only surviving son of
John More and his first wife, Agnes Graunger. John More was a successful lawyer
who was later knighted and made a judge of the King s Bench; he was prosperous
enough to send his son to London s best school. He was well connected and later
secured his son s appointment as a household page to John Morton, the archbishop
of Canterbury and Lord Chancellor of England. From a very young age Thomas
More proved himself to be a remarkable man. By his early 20 s he was lecturing on
St. Augustine s City of God to some of the foremost minds of his day as well as
rising rapidly through the ranks of his profession to become a prominent figure in
English society. More s adolescent years were spent under the reign of Henry VII,
the first Tudor king. His patron Morton was infamous as the architect of that king s
very successful, and subsequently very unpopular, tax policy. In 1504, More was
elected to Parliament and one of his first acts was to oppose Henry VII s request of a
grant of three fifteenths.
How Does Annabel Lee Rhyme Scheme
Poe uses rhyme scheme and internal rhyme to enhance the tone of his writing. In
Annabel Lee it says, For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams (Poe
1.34). This sentence is a perfect example of internal rhyme. Poe is rhyming beams
with dreams to emphasize the love the speaker has towards Annabel Lee. From this,
the tone can be interpreted by heartbroken since Annabel has passed away. Another
piece of evidence that shows rhyme scheme, is in the text, A Dream Within A Dream
, which states, I stand amid the roar/Of a surf tormented shore, (Poe 1.12 13). Edgar
Allan Poerhymes roar and shore at the end of these two lines to emphasize the tone of
the poem as torment. Also rhyming can relate with repetition because the readers
Genesis Vs. The Iroquois Creation Myth
Creation stories are tools used to try to explain the unexplainable. For centuries
humans have been searching for answers to the what, when, why, and how questions
that encompass life. Genesis and the Iroquois Creation Myth are two different stories
that seek to describe the creation of Earth and the universe that surrounds it. Genesis
describes a Christian perspective, particularly one of the most popular Western
explanations to life on Earth. The Iroquois Creation Myth, on the other hand, takes a
less traditional approach, while only mildly alluding to religion. The similarities
between the two lie in the timeless battle of good versus evil. The two stories both
pit the idea of good against evil to explain the contrasting mechanisms of
Increased Incidence Of Obesity, Diabetes, And Metabolic...
Increased incidence of obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome, coupled with
heightened consumer awareness, has led to unfaltering movement toward the
utilization of low calorie artificial sweeteners which make artificial them
progressively prevalent as an alternative to sugar. These artificial sweeteners, also
called nonnutritive sweeteners (NNS)/low calorie sweeteners/intense sweeteners,
provide more intense sweetness and no or a few calories per gram and are used in
beverages, dietary products, drugs, and even mouthwashes. The United States Food
and Drug Administration (US FDA)authority has approved six NNS (saccharine,
aspartame ,sucralose, neotame , acesulfame K, and stevia) for use in humans and has
classified them under generally recognized as safe (GRAS) category.(Sharma et al.

galactopyranoside; is made by substituting three hydroxyl groups of sucrose with
chlorine atoms. Replacing three of the hydrogen atoms in the sucrose molecule with
chlorine atoms makes sucralose almost non absorbable by the intestine, thereby not
increasing the intake of calories in the food ingested. Its importance is based mainly
on properties such as its sweetness, immunity to metabolic degradation, non
hygroscopic nature, and relative heat resistance. It has a taste profile very similar to
that of sugar without any aftertaste and is approximately 600 times as sweet as
sucrose(Idris et al., 2013).

Analysis Of The Movie Spirited Away And Ponyo
Director Miyazaki illustrated in Spirited Away and Ponyo how love, identity,
perseverance, and adversity can conquer anything. At the beginning of the movies,
we see how food and water set Chihiro, Sosuke, and Ponyo s entire adventures, and
the conflict they endure and how they were perceived in the spiritand humanworlds.
The spirit world was less tolerant of anything different whereas the human world was
more welcoming; however, they both illustrated the same message about how people
should be more open minded and to be more accepting. An example in Spirited Away
showed how the Spirit world viewed Chihiro as nothing more than just a human
being who came to their world to cause trouble, according to Yubaba; whereas in
the human world, Ponyo was welcomed by Sosuke, even though at the start of the
movie, Ponyo was appeared to be a goldfish, nevertheless she was still welcomed
by a human. The narrator showed his audience how difficult it was for Chihiro in
the spirit world, in Spirited Away , but, Ponyo was the opposite in the human
world but she still had adversity. By the contrast of both worlds, Miyazaki is
showing his audience how humans are more accepting of things that are different
vs the spirit world which rejects differences. The storyteller showed a scene in
Spirited Away where Yubaba tried to trick Chihiro into choosing her parents from a
group of sprit she had turned into pigs, but it didn t work the way Yubaba wanted it
to, because Chihiro was able

Brook Farm Utopian Societies
Utopian societies A utopian society is a perfect society that possesses perfect
qualities. Utopian societies don t typically work due to money issues and conflict
due to control issues within the society. People have conflicts due to the fact that
not all of the people in the society think alike. Money troubles became apparent
when people in the utopian societies created a system of sharing money and profit.
Issues arose when people in the society realized that only very few people in the
society were actually working while most were just taking the profit off the ones
who did the work. Brook Farm (1841 1846) was one of the many utopian societies
that failed due to money problems within the society. The founder of the Brook
Farm, George Ripley, experienced money conflicts when farmers declared they
needed more farm land for their crops, but as they bought the farmland more money
issues arose from people in the society needing supplies to do their jobs. Another
issue in buying all the supplies for the community was that the workers within society
weren t selling enough goods to pay the money back, so that they could support the
society. Due to these struggles the Brook Farm failed at the end of 1846 proving that
utopian societies cannot... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

because they had the knowledge of the land. But when the farmers started to rebel the
society began to fall. The farmers forgot about the crops and they were left

with nothing and with no money to support the society it perished by the end of
Military Dictatorship In Central And South America
Throughout the past century in Central and South America many counties have came
across military dictatorships that have oppressed the people. Along with these
dictatorships the lives of the working class and peasants become expendable to the
dictatorial powers. In the case of Argentina and Chile this becomes a great factor
where the oppression of the people claimed many lives and in other factors the
inhumane exploitation of the people. As a military dictatorship oppresses the people
they do anything in their command in order to eliminate any rising of those that are
being oppressed. Although both men and women in these countries suffered from the
military dictatorship it was the women who played a crucial role in challenging the
government. As the military dictatorship began to take over the country the
immediate suppression of the people and any unions took place. Since Peron was

Augustine Of Hippo And Lady Julian Of Norwich
The story of Creation found in Genesis 1 3 has captured the attention of countless
Christian theologians throughout the ages. Despite the fact that the text of these
chapters are quite short, it has proved itself to be a fertile ground from which many
of the central tenets of Christian doctrine have sprouted. This fruitful text has also
spurred a variety of differing interpretations of the Creation and Fall. Augustine of
Hippoand Lady Julian of Norwich are two theologians who interpreted Genesis 1 3 in
vastly different ways. The aim of this paper is to make a thematically organized
comparison of Julian of Norwich s interpretation (which is mostly apparent within her
short parable on the Lord and the Servant, Revelations of Divine Love) with
Augustine s influential interpretation of Genesis 1 3. While Augustine s
interpretation is a classic understanding of the Fall that has had a lasting impact on
Western society, in contrast Julian s nuanced understanding of the Fall has had little
influence in most subsequent theological thought until relatively recently. Indeed, it
wasn t until the 20th century that her work began to be broadly in circulation. Even
in modern reflections on her theology, many scholars underappreciate or
misunderstand her theology. Some theologians even suggest that she is moving
towards unorthodoxy. Additionally, although Julian of Norwich is held in high
esteem by many scholars and non scholars, she is not always recognized as a highly

Driving under the influence
Even though people who drink regularly feel there is no issue with driving after one
or two drinks, people should think about the severe consequences that come from
driving under the influence. Numerous people die every year due to intoxicated
drivers. There are ways of avoiding these life changing risks. Appointing a designated
driver before drinking or calling an uber is a smart way to plan ahead. Unfortunately
not everyone takes the initiative to prevent these avoidable circumstances.
There are a large number of wrecks due to drunk drivers. For example, In 2015,
10,265 people died in alcohol impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one
third (29%) of all traffic related deaths in the United States (Impaired Driving).
These crashes are not only harmful, but can also be very expensive. People who
drink and drive typically do not consider the potential costs that will be incurred if
pulled over by police, state highway patrol or sheriff deputies as well as being
involved in an accident or fatal car crash. Drunk driving costs the United States $199
billion per year (Snyder). This includes the expense of road clean up, medical
services, court cases, insurance and much more. These costs are leading indicators of
how extensive and severe drunk driving is making a devastating financial impact on
the American economy.
Drunk drivers tend to be young when caught driving under the
The Lottery By Shirley Jackson Essay
A story that could capture anyone s attention is the story called The Lottery by
Shirley Jackson. The story starts off right away with the setting. On a warm day in
late June the 27th. The villages in there town all gather together to participate in
the lottery. The game was ruled by Mr. Summers. The head of the household
would forward to a black wooden box, where each selects a slip of paper. The paper
is then put into a box and drawn to see who will win the money. The small town is
basically devouring a member of its own community. One of the charters Tess

are formed and others art. The story has a weird way on talking about what the

Sometimes when it comes to the lottery during this story it could mean fortune either
is good or bad. The lottery is gambling and it s all up to chance.
The lottery is a tradition that takes place in the village and is practiced by the
villagers. It s like a celebration it seems like to them almost like how Christmas
would seem to us or even New Year s. While reading the story it seemed like the

All these things add together like lack of jobs , poor education and health care meant
that these areas became ghettos.
With these ghettos came crime. People couldn t get jobs and they still need to pay

problem in these areas. Using and supplying of drugs became easer in the cite

situation was not helped when people could buy a news paper just as easy as a

ghettos law and order was not respect. People how became addicts began robbing to
pay for there habits. To make matters worse drug gangs started street battles over
selling areas of the cites.
The governments tried tackle the issue by building urban house for the people of
these ghettos. They failed hugely. The high rise apartments became drug and crime
ridden. The effects were seen through out life some of them were isolation , marriage
break ups .
Some governments did try tackling the issue people like J.F.K gave more money to

My Experience That Changed My Life
In my lifetime, there have been many breathtaking and wonderful experience s I
have had the pleasure in being a part of, only one experience comes to mind when I
think about a personal experience that s dear to me. The experience that is most
dear to me would be one that changed my view on life and the path I had paved for
myself along the way.
Ordinarily, when I was seventeen years old and still in school life was hard and
very stressful, I know many people would say that life was easy with no bills to
pay and a roof over my head, but my living environment wasn t the issue. The main
issue I had when I was still in school was the pressure I had resting on my
shoulders, my family always had high hopes, and expectations for me, and I always
felt so overwhelmed when it came to school and the grades we were given each
quarter on our report cards. I didn t want to disappoint my family and ruin their view
towards me as a still in progress student at Haines City High School, when it came
down to it, I failed and I felt so horrible knowing I would have to repeat the year
because I was either slacking in homework or being poorly graded on classroom
assignments. As soon as I started seeing the world in black and white and losing
hope for graduation, I got called to the schools main office for a parent teacher
conference. At that moment I was frightened, not because of my grades or my work
ethics, but because that conference had the potential to change my families,
Speech On Stay At Home Mother
Celebrating the stay at home mothers
Team ParentCircle
Teaser: What do you do all day is a question that puts every stay at home mother on
the edge. Contrary to the widespread belief, SAHMs do much more than meets the
eye. Read on to know more.
How many times have you heard the term, just a mom? Stay at home mothers,
especially in the current era, get bad press. From binge watching soaps to lazing
around all day, people are quick to point fingers at the humble homemakers. I have
been a SAHM for more than five years (and I will not trade it for all the world!) so, I
am not new to such eye rolling and prejudice.
But, here s the real deal. A SAHM works all the time: 24/7 with no breaks or leaves
all for no pay and very little appreciation. She is a multitasker who dons many hats
from being a personal chef to doctor on call to finance expert to an ... Show more

Who knows? Someday, you may become a successful entrepreneur or a
businesswoman all credits to your child.
It is not what you are; it is who you are
Your most valuable parenting skill is learningto manage yourself first. Dr Laura
Markham
The stress and depression a SAHM goes through are real and sometimes
debilitating. However, if you re seeking approval from others to feel good, you re
only asking for trouble. Happiness starts from within you. Similarly, only you have
the power to assess your self worth. Whether you stay at home or choose to go to
work, embrace the fact that parenting is hard work.
Your Takeaway: Get up and dress up every morning. Aim to get out of the house
every day. For a few moments every week, go out with our friends or to pursue your
own interests. Get involved in your community to feel a sense of achievement.
Finally, when the going gets tough, remember the quote by Anna Quindlen, When in

Pathophysiology Of Diabetes Mellitus And Diabetes Essay
Pathophysiology of Diabetes Mellitus
Diabetes Mellites(DM), is a deficiency of insulin action causing hyperglycemia. The
majority of DM have a decreased secretion of the cells, insulin resistance, or
counterregulatory hormones( McPhee Hammer, 2010). Insulin is synthesized from
the beta cells from the pancreases. Composed from A peptide and B peptide
connected to C peptide and disulfide bonds. Insulin is a hormone that aids in
metabolism. encourages glucose uptake and the synthesis works mainly in the liver,
muscle, and adipose tissue
(Huether McCance, 2012). Hyperglycemia occurs when glucose levels are past the
threshold for the renal system to reabsorb glucose. Causing polydipsia, polyuria,
polyphagia( McPhee Hammer, 2010).
Diabetic Ketoacidosis(DKA) is from metabolism of fats and proteins with increasing
ketones in the circulation(Huether McCance, 2012). The loss of insulin activity
increasing serum glucose levels due to hepatic glucose output and decreased glucose
uptake. DK occurs in both type 1 and type 2, type 1 is due to lack of endogenous
insulin. Type 2 occurs decreasing the insulin action due to infections, trauma, or
increased stress, which can cause coma, due to the hyperosmolality ( McPhee
Hammer, 2010).
Hypoglycemia symptoms occur secondary to the release of catecholamine. Symptoms
are shaking, sweating, palpitations, with worsening into further issues of
neuroglycopenic symptoms, such as confusion and coma, night sweats, nightmares,

J Alfred Prufrock Loneliness
The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot is an internal monologue set in
20th century England. The speaker of this poem, Prufrock, is an unhappy, middle
aged man in great distress. The poem begins with Prufrock at a rich, upscale party,
leads to the Red Light District, and ultimately ends at the beach. Prufrock is in
great distress for a number a reasons. He is enduring a personal Hell or labyrinth.
Prufrock has an abundance of time on his hands and is suffering from dreadful
boredom. Prufrock is also severely insecure about his body image and how people,
specifically women, will perceive him. Although he desires to write and share love
poems with the women he longs for, he is too shy and timid to even talk to them.
Prufrock s three sources of distress include boredom, low self esteem and body
image, and his shyness and fear of women. The first of Prufrock s great stressors is
absolute boredom. Prufrock has an excess of time on his hands and does not know
what to do with it. He spends a great deal of his time exploring deserted streets,
going to upscale parties, and indulging in toast and tea. Time for you and time for
me, And time yet for a hundred indecisions, And for a hundred visions and
revisions, Before the taking of a toast and tea (Eliot 757). Prufrock spends the vast
majority of his life stressing over slight indecisions, all before breakfast. Although not
common to the average reader, to Prufrock, everything in his life is seemingly
Great Depression s Influence on American Vernacular Dance
How did the Great Depression influence the evolution of American vernacular dance?
In the Great Depression, the American dream had become a nightmare. What was
once the land of opportunity was now the land of desperation. The Great Depression
was an economic slump in North America, Europe, and other industrialized areas of
the world that began in 1929 and lasted until about 1939. It was the longest and most
severe depression ever experienced by the industrialized Western world. Nevertheless,
it had immense impact on the evolution of American vernacular dance by bringing
jazz music and dance to the masses, raising the nation s spirit through music and
dance.
The Great Depression hit hard, but it hit African Americans the hardest. They... Show

Yet another famous dance that evolved was the Big Apple , which originated in a
small southern town. A group circle dance, it gave couples the opportunity to show
off, or shine . It incorporated swing early swing steps and originally required a caller
. Frankie Manning is accredited to bringing the Big Apple to New York and
popularizing the dance with white culture.
The popularity of these aforementioned dances during the Depression can be easily
interpreted as the psychological comfort it gave of strength in numbers and because
it was more than just a dance: it was a unifying experience that provided healing and
joy at a time when there was little to celebrate.
In the late 1930s, Katherine Dunham had one of the most successful dance careers
in American and European theater of the 20th century and has been called the
Matriarch and Queen Mother of Black Dance , production. One of her early
appearances was in Cabin in the Sky, staged by George Balanchine that ran for 20
weeks in New York, with Dunham in the stunning role of Georgia Brown . Another
famous role as a seductress during this period was the Woman with a Cigar from her
solo role in the revue Shore Excursion. Her sense of rhythm, theater and costuming,
as well as her choreography and dancing, put serious African American vernacular
dance on the map once and for all.

Miss Fozzard in Alan Bennett s Talking Heads Essay
Miss Fozzard in Alan Bennett s Talking Heads
The video, Talking Heads Two was made in 1998. It is a collection of six dramatic
monologues by various different actors, each one telling their own story. Bennett
wrote a series of monologues in 1988 for BBC 2 at a time when they were having
financial difficulties. Monologues were chosen as they only required a few actors
and cameramen. They were successful and Bennett decided to write a second series
of monologues, the one which I am going to study is called Miss Fozzard finds her
feet and I will be discussing how Alan Bennett creates her character and how her
story is told.
The monologues were written for, and shown on television. The use of ... Show more

The title Miss Fozzard finds her feet lets the audience guess at what might happen in
the monologue. The use of the pun finds her feet tells us two things about the story
she is going to tell. Firstly, that Miss Fozzard has to find a new chiropodist to look
after her feet when her old chiropodist Mr Suddaby moves away. Secondly, before
this monologue was written, Miss Fozzard seems to have a fairly uneventful life,
now however, she seems to have plenty of stories to tell the audience. By the end of
the monologue she seems to have an eventful and fulfilling life. So in other words
she has Found her feet in life and chiropody.
Also in the title there is humour. The name Miss Fozzard suggests humour and a
character whose traits suggest they are rather ditzy and slow to catch on which is
true in Miss Fozzard s case. For example when Bernard calls Miss Fozzard a cow
she doesn t realise he is insulting her. This type of humour is very tongue in cheek
as it is used in her name. Her name is a source of humour and she judges people by
their names. She repeats her name a lot in the monologue especially when someone
she respects says it in conversation.
In the opening section, Miss Fozzard s character is built up immediately with the
use of the phrase Bit of a bombshell today which introduces the war imagery which I
will later explain. Miss

Children with autism almost universally are deficient in certain vitamins and
minerals such as zinc, selenium, magnesium, vitamin C, B6, B12, A, E, folate,

Symptoms and signs
a. Social aspect:
.Leo Kanner s (1943) original description of a child presenting what he called
infantile autism was He seems self satisfied. He has no apparent affection when
petted. He does not observe the fact that anyone comes or goes, and never seems
glad to see father or mother or any playmate. He seldom comes when called.
(Kanner,1943)
In consistence with this description, social deficits remain a hallmark feature of the
disorder up till now (Table 1) Symptoms of social deficit show wide variation
according to age and degree of development of the affected child. Very young
children with autism appear to lack a preference for speech sounds over other kinds
of sounds. It was also noticed that they produce less spontaneous imitation of the
actions of their parents(Volkmar et al 2005)
They also lack eye contact, don t show social smile, or call their parents by name
or point to objects of interest, (Yates Couteur, 2013) It should be kept in mind that
social deficits may not be immediately obvious in early years; they become gradually
more evident as a child becomes more mobile and as other children become more
socially sophisticated. (Lord C,2000) (Filipek et al
Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory Essay
Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory states that we go through 8 developmental stages
in life. Erikson states that these stages are necessary in the progression and
development of human growth from infancy into adulthood. Each developmental
stage presents a crisis that must be resolved during that stage for a healthy
development. Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory outlines that we develop in
psychosocial stages instead of psychosexual ones. I agree with Erikson because one
might not get through the entire crisis within the stages which causes one not
understanding themselves and their identity , the eight stages are a great way to
explain the developmental stages that occurs throughout our life span. Erikson s
theory considers children development in terms of their potential to nurture and
simplify healthful emotional and psychological feature progress. Erikson concluded
that children should not rush their development. He perceived eight unique phases of
development, which were trust vs. mistrust, autonomy vs. shame doubt, initiative vs.
guilt, industry vs. inferiority, identity vs. confusion, intimacy vs. isolation,
generativity vs. stagnation and integrity vs. despair (Cherry, 2011). Each
developmental section is major and must be allowed time to completely unfold.
Erikson recounted that a baby s development have to be compelled to not be rushed
or an horrible emotional injury may be widespread and damage will be seriously

Physics Of Bridges
Bridges are a connection of one place of the world to another. They link the vast
world together. Bridges were used thousands of years ago, especially by the
Romans. In the ancient times and present time, several forces are always encountered
when building bridges. The forces determine how big or sturdy a bridgewill be. There
are several types of bridges, such as the girder bridge, arch bridge, truss bridge, and
suspension bridge. Bridges have been used for a great amount of time. This allows us
to discover more about the forces of bridges and he variety of bridges today.
The earliest bridges, natural and manmade, were made from wood planks or logs,
and later from stone. The Romans, one of the greatest bridge builder of ancient time,

These bridges are made of trusses, which are patterns of triangles. The truss was
developed during the Industrial Revolution when people were finding ways to
develop better girder bridges. These trusses are now used to stabilize and support
other bridges, such as suspension bridges. Trusses are used widely because the truss
pattern is rigid and can dissipate weight throughout the truss. They can be commonly
found on girder bridges, because the truss pattern evens out the forces of tension and
compression. A deck truss, a type of truss bridge, is classified by having its roadway
above the truss. A through truss is another type of truss bridge that has the truss
above the roadway. There are various types of truss patterns, which include the K
truss, the Pratt truss, the Warren truss, and the Howe
Gun Controls And Gun Control
Americans are faced with a big issue of violence in the streets, these streets where
elderly people are beaten for their money and women are attacked and raped. Sadly,
some people believe that the best way to deal with these violent occurrences is to
pass gun control laws that take away legally owned guns from everyone. Not only
does gun control end up disarming the innocent but it also violates the Second
Amendment. By taking away guns from the American citizens, whom the Second
Amendment bestowed onto us this act violates our rights. Unfortunately for those
who have legally armed themselves for self defense, gun control would eventually
strip away their ability to fend for themselves. Gun control will also end up causing
a rise in crime. By taking away arms from good law abiding citizens and leaving
them defenseless, it makes things much easier for criminals by knowing that their
victims are not armed. Although the gun ban would take away guns from stores, a
criminal will find a way to get their hands on one, imagine that. Gun controls are
taking away our rights as citizens. If a law abiding citizen happens to enjoy
hunting, they will lose that right. Gun controls are also taking away weapons from
citizens. Gun control is not having a positive effect on America because it violates
the second amendment, takes away rights and it won t reduce the crime rate. A well
regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the

Should Immigrants Be Legal Citizens Essay
The political battle over immigration has been going on for a long time. Should
immigrants be legal citizens of the U.S.? The U.S. should provide a way for illegal
immigrants to come into the country legally and become legal citizens because it
could increase the job opportunity, It helps the GDP which helps the economy, and it
provides immigrants and opportunity for them and their family to have a better life. If
the U.S. were to let illegal immigrants become legal citizens it would increase job
opportunity for both immigrants and Americans. In the PBS interview, Robert Lynch
states, Once they become legalized, that the formerly undocumented can now get
access to permits and licenses and credits, and they start businesses. (Lynch3)....

In a study, The Center for American Progress found, Naturalized workers earn
higher wages, consume more goods and services, and pay more taxes, which in
turn creates economic growth. If the undocumented immigrants in our nation were
granted legal status today and citizenship in five years, the 10 year cumulative
increase in U.S. gross domestic product, or GDP, would be $1.1 trillion (CAP 8).
Over time, the amount of work immigrants put in and the price at which they work
for would leave extra money. As this extra money cumulates it in turns leaves a lot
of money that goes to the GDP. In an interview with Robert lynch from The Center
for American Progress, he stated that a left leaning think tank , estimates that
legalizing the undocumented could boost the country s gross domestic product
anywhere from $832 billion dollars to $1.4 trillion dollars (Lynch1).If this money
were to come out from letting immigrants come legally into the U.S. it would give
more money for buyers to use and sellers a bigger profit from what they were to get
out of it. This extra money from which The U.S. gets out of these situations would go
back into their government increasing their GDP and
NASA Rover Research Paper
Opportunity NASA Rover A robot is a machine capable of carrying out a complex
series of actions automatically, especially one programmable by a computer. When
you think of a robot, do you think of a dishwasher? Probably not. Robots don t
have to be a fancy human or animal shaped machines. It can be something as simple
as your cellphone. Some very common robots are washers, dishwashers, automatic
vacuums, and some voice activated devices. We have these robots to make everyday
tasks easier, to do a better job, or to do something that humans could never do. The
three main components of any given robot are the sensors, the actuators, and a

effort of robotic exploration of the red planet. The Opportunity is mostly made out
of different types of sensors to take in various kinds of information. The mast

Integrated GIS Micro-Watershed Model Development
This study develops an integrated GIS micro watershed model to support decision
making for community planning. Clean drinking water is a scare natural resource
for people living in villages in rural eastern Uganda. When clean water is available
it reduces mortality rates to water born and water related diseases including
cholera, diarrhoea and malaria (UNDP UNEP Poverty Environment Initiative,
2004). Unfortunately, a safe water supply is not always available to a community.
This study will run a risk assessment to identify locations where existing water
points are susceptible to hazards. Where risks are identified, the study will identify
the ideal locations for future clean water wells and other community life facilities.
The purpose of this research is to create a model with low data requirements that
can be used to improve community planning in almost any context, especially data
deficient areas. This research builds upon the research of legacy GIS watershed
models. In the 1980s GIS models began to be applied to watershed studies. But
these models were designed for data rich areas and as a result have high data
requirements. The inputs and criteria for the water point site suitability analysis will
be: proximity to water, water flow, land use, landslide risk zoning, and proximity to
community health and education facilities. The methodology used in this study will
be built upon two standard operating GIS watershed models: the Soil and Water
Assessment (SWAT) system
Benefits Of Vaccination
New Vaccination Requirement for Illinois Children
The new school year is just weeks away. Parents, just a reminder that Illinois has a
new vaccination requirement going into effect this school year. By law, all children
entering the sixth and twelfth grades are required to show proof of having received
meningococcal vaccination.
Why it s Important to Vaccinate
Although it has been from a different risk group, the 7th case of meningitis has
recently been discovered in Illinois. It is extremely contagious and spreads through
close contact. The disease is most often spread through respiratory and throat
secretions mucus and saliva. Activities such as kissing or living in close proximity
can place someone at risk for getting meningitis.

The Anti-Hero In The Quiet American
How do you measure the life of one person against the greater good? Can it ever be
the right thing to sacrifice an innocent person? And how do you know what the
greater good really is? (Amy Engel, The Book of Ivy). The greater good is a
concept that Thomas Fowler, the protagonist of The Quiet American , uses to
justify his part in the murder of an innocent man. Thomas Fowler embodies none of
the qualities typically assigned to an protagonist, being a man whose failings from
being an adulterer, an opium addict, and ultimately a murderer by choice that draws
him into the defined role of the anti hero. The anti hero in a story, like Fowler, is
branded by the imperfect, and experienced nature whose flaws both humanizes and
horrifies. Thomas Fowler believes his intention was to get Pyle killed for the greater
good, he in fact, does not wholly believe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fowler, a citizen of a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy, has
sympathies towards the communist party in Vietnam. He would later use this
political mindset to explain partly his reason for assisting in the assignation of the
democratic Pyle. This is even a darker, and more twisted event, when Fowler
admits that not only are his actions motivated by his political and moral ideals, but
also that he will recover his young lover, Phuong, from Pyle. Alden Pyle died
because Fowler justified his part in the assassination through his ideals of war, and
the cost of the innocent, his political sentiments, and the repossession of a woman.
He convinces himself that he is the hero of the scene by saving Vietnam from the
brashness of the American Pyle, while also receiving the bonus of Phuong in the
process. In the end, it is very clear that Fowler is an anti hero, which is made
accurately well defined, by his proof of intent in the murder of an innocent man for
the greater good of himself, and

  • 2. Elie Wiesel as a Survivor of the Holocaust Six million perished in the flames, mass shootings and gas chambers of concentration camps during the Holocaust. This started when the Nazi party established a Final Solution that sought out to eradicate the inferior Jewish race from Germany and the world ( Holocaust ). A person cannot look at this event and see nothing except for the dark, evil side of human nature. However, if a person looks at the Holocaustfrom a survivor s point of view, they can see the good side of human nature, especially if someone looks at it from Elie Wiesels perspective. Elie Wiesel and his family were Romanian Jewswho were, unfortunately, swept into the Holocaust s horrors. Elie managed to escape the Holocaust using tools of survival, including love for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When someone takes another s hair, clothing or anything else that makes them unique, that person takes away their identity and, therefore, their humanity. This is even more so when the deceased are not given proper burials and their remains combined and recycled as gardening materials and money for the Nazis. Everything that made these people human was stripped, cut and burned from them. The dark side of human nature comes out in situations like the Holocaust when people struggle with the obstacles that life throws at them. They naturally push all of their woes towards others to attempt to justify their issues and make them feel like they have control over their lives. On the other hand, these people do not always succeed in completely dictating others lives. Survivors like Elie Wiesel prove that the good side of human nature can arise even during times as malevolent as the Holocaust. Elie used certain tools of survival, such as love for family. This is seen when Elie and his father are on the train to a concentration camp, and the dead are periodically thrown off the train. At one stop, Elie s father appeared to be a corpse. Elie screamed at the men who tried to throw his father out of the train. Elie hit him several times to try and wake his father up, and his father eventually woke up (Wiesel 98 99). This action shows the survivor quality of love for family because Elie depends on his father s companionship and his father depends on Elie to survive. They
  • 3. My Desire For The Veterinary Profession A Veterinarian is not only an activist of animal welfare; he or she is also a teacher, a role model, and an active member of the wider community. So that I might realize these responsibilities to the fullest extent, I have engaged in a variety of professional, academic, service, and personal disciplines throughout my student career. I believe my continuing development as both an individual and aspiring professional will allow me to share these experiences and contribute to the diversity of my Veterinary class. My enthusiasm for the veterinary profession has only cultivated since my childhood by a deep fascination with animals and their health. From this foundation I developed an enduring sense of responsibility and pride in providing care for all creatures, even as my perspectives and aspirations matured. For instance, my understanding of the community role of veterinarians expanded rapidly when I began shadowing various small and large animal vets three years ago. I participated first hand in treating and dressing wounds, dentistry, sheath cleaning, preparing vaccines, administering medication, surgical preparation, post operation care, taking vital statistics, collecting samples, and monitoring vital signs of anesthetized patients. I also eagerly took part in a summer internship two years ago at the Greyhound Placement Clinic in Augusta where I discovered that I was in my element working side by side with a veterinarian. Ever since these past several years I began to

  • 5. The Modern Identity Of The United States Of America The modern identity of the United States of America is predicated on the notion that all men are created equal. However, behind the idealism of aphorisms such as these found in America s founding documents exists the truth of the American situation: that equality has exceptions. In the eyes of Thomas Jefferson and other framers, all men were white landowners. The dichotomy of equality for all men and the third estate was a feature of democracy in America for centuries and a defining characteristic of the American South in particular. The belief in race based dichotomy was perpetuated by the landed gentry of the South, the political elite, to the masses, establishing the rise of a conservative base in the latter half of nineteenth century which hindered black civil rights for decades and defines the enduring qualities of the Southern political ethos to this day. Alexis de Tocqueville, in his book Democracy in America, states that while the [settlers] found themselves in analogous situations...they governed themselves on different principles. In the settlement of the Southern colonies of North America in the 1600s, an aristocratic society began develop from the cultivation of crops. Land formed the basis of the aristocracy, which was supported by privilege from birthright and inheritance (Serow). As plantations began to develop, their owners became the upper echelon of Southern society, around which the majority of political activity was centered. Powerful voices
  • 6. My Opinion Volkswagen ( Vw ) Made A Very Wise Decision By... In my opinion Volkswagen (VW) made a very wise decision by choosing Deutsch LA agency to market themselves. The agency focused on informing customers by different advertising techniques such as direct marketing and digital/interactive marketing. VW used direct marketing by sending brochures and promotional offers or coupons to the targeted customers (Belch Belch, 2015, p. 21). There was also use of various TV commercials to let the customers know about different VW models and changing the view of the customers (Belch Belch, 2015, p. 68). Today, people is engaged most of the time in social media or looking for certain information in Google. Deutsch LA agency took advantage of it and made VW reachable to the customers through Facebook and Twitter which allowed the customers to follow them, get information regarding the vehicles and interact directly with the company. Besides, the YouTube video too helped to increase the followers in the social media largely which was a plus point for them (Belch Belch, 2015, p. 68). Advertising is very important for an automotive company such as VW because customers needs to be informed time and again what products have been launched and what offers are they getting. As, advertising is one of the best way to attract customers and interact with them so the automotive companies should be careful while investing their every penny. For example, we can learn a good lesson from VW. There was a time when people didn t even knew what products

What Does The Yellow Symbolize In The Great Gatsby Laura Emberson Mr. Carroll English Comp II Literary Analysis Final Copy 16 April 2015 Symbolism in The Great Gatsby Symbolism prevails above all other things throughout F. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby. The author s use of symbolism creates many themes throughout the story. Some of the main themes recognized throughout the story are those regarding lies and deceit, marriage, money, religion, and isolation. The symbols creating these themes are represented with colors. The author uses color throughout the story to symbolize deceit, innocence, envy, lifelessness, and sadness. The color yellow is used to symbolize deceit. The color gray is used to describe the desolate valley of ashes, which then makes anyone or anything else associated with the color gray lifeless as well. George Wilson is described as being covered in ashen dust along with everything else in the valley of ashes which suggests that he has lost hope in his marriage with Myrtle and is depressed as a result. More than once, it is suggested that Dr. TJ Eckelburg s eyes are the all seeing eyes of God. The association of Eckelburg to God may lead readers to associate the valley of ashes to a place such as purgatory, where lifeless, hopeless souls remain under the eyes of God, hoping to one day be freed. The religious references made in the book obviously suggest that one of the themes is religion or perhaps the lack of it. The only mention of God is in reference to eyes on a billboard, which suggests that maybe the obsession with wealth and fortune has surpassed the importance of
  • 8. Social Stratification In The United States A society is made up of different classifications of people, and the way they are classified is based on the resources they own. What sociologists call this is social stratification. According to the book, society ranks individuals into socioeconomic stratums based on their income, wealth, education, and race. Individuals are put into a specific social classthat describes the way they live. The way social stratification divides and categories people vary from each society. Social stratification also implies that resources are often unevenly distributed. In which case results in a class system. In the United States there are three class distinctions: upper, middle, and lower class. There are additional subcategories that pertain to each class. For example the middle classcan be divided into the upper middle class and the lower middle class. The difference between the two is that people who belong in the upper middle class tend to have more comfortable incomes, while the lower middle class has a harder time maintaining their decent lifestyle. The same concept can be applied when we talk about social classes. We can manipulate how others see us not just by the way we act, but by what we own too. I m talking about materialistic objects such as cars, houses, clothes and shoes. Even jewelry and handbags. If an individual only has expensive world known brands, then we assume they have the money to purchase those materials. If I, for example, was born into a low social class, and want to show others that I have moved into the upper class, I can shop at retail stores that sell known brands. It doesn t necessarily have to be a lie. People have managed to move up the social ladder. The upper

  • 30. Analysis Of The Movie Spirited Away And Ponyo Director Miyazaki illustrated in Spirited Away and Ponyo how love, identity, perseverance, and adversity can conquer anything. At the beginning of the movies, we see how food and water set Chihiro, Sosuke, and Ponyo s entire adventures, and the conflict they endure and how they were perceived in the spiritand humanworlds. The spirit world was less tolerant of anything different whereas the human world was more welcoming; however, they both illustrated the same message about how people should be more open minded and to be more accepting. An example in Spirited Away showed how the Spirit world viewed Chihiro as nothing more than just a human being who came to their world to cause trouble, according to Yubaba; whereas in the human world, Ponyo was welcomed by Sosuke, even though at the start of the movie, Ponyo was appeared to be a goldfish, nevertheless she was still welcomed by a human. The narrator showed his audience how difficult it was for Chihiro in the spirit world, in Spirited Away , but, Ponyo was the opposite in the human world but she still had adversity. By the contrast of both worlds, Miyazaki is showing his audience how humans are more accepting of things that are different vs the spirit world which rejects differences. The storyteller showed a scene in Spirited Away where Yubaba tried to trick Chihiro into choosing her parents from a group of sprit she had turned into pigs, but it didn t work the way Yubaba wanted it to, because Chihiro was able

Utopian societies don t typically work due to money issues and conflict due to control issues within the society. People have conflicts due to the fact that not all of the people in the society think alike. Money troubles became apparent when people in the utopian societies created a system of sharing money and profit. Brook Farm (1841 1846) was one of the many utopian societies that failed due to money problems within the society. The founder of the Brook Farm, George Ripley, experienced money conflicts when farmers declared they needed more farm land for their crops, but as they bought the farmland more money issues arose from people in the society needing supplies to do their jobs. Another issue in buying all the supplies for the community was that the workers within society weren t selling enough goods to pay the money back, so that they could support the society. Along with these dictatorships the lives of the working class and peasants become expendable to the dictatorial powers. • 35. Augustine Of Hippo And Lady Julian Of Norwich The story of Creation found in Genesis 1 3 has captured the attention of countless Christian theologians throughout the ages. Despite the fact that the text of these chapters are quite short, it has proved itself to be a fertile ground from which many of the central tenets of Christian doctrine have sprouted. This fruitful text has also spurred a variety of differing interpretations of the Creation and Fall. Augustine of Hippoand Lady Julian of Norwich are two theologians who interpreted Genesis 1 3 in vastly different ways. The aim of this paper is to make a thematically organized comparison of Julian of Norwich s interpretation (which is mostly apparent within her short parable on the Lord and the Servant, Revelations of Divine Love) with Augustine s influential interpretation of Genesis 1 3. While Augustine s interpretation is a classic understanding of the Fall that has had a lasting impact on Western society, in contrast Julian s nuanced understanding of the Fall has had little influence in most subsequent theological thought until relatively recently. Indeed, it wasn t until the 20th century that her work began to be broadly in circulation. Even in modern reflections on her theology, many scholars underappreciate or misunderstand her theology. Some theologians even suggest that she is moving towards unorthodoxy. Additionally, although Julian of Norwich is held in high esteem by many scholars and non scholars, she is not always recognized as a highly complex

The majority of DM have a decreased secretion of the cells, insulin resistance, or counterregulatory hormones( McPhee Hammer, 2010). Insulin is synthesized from the beta cells from the pancreases. Composed from A peptide and B peptide connected to C peptide and disulfide bonds. Insulin is a hormone that aids in metabolism. encourages glucose uptake and the synthesis works mainly in the liver, muscle, and adipose tissue (Huether McCance, 2012). Introduction In this report, we will be discussing reasoning for and against software piracy and downloading copyrighted material. Therefore, the parts we discuss are a matter of facts mixed with opinions. These include e books, reputable websites, my personal experiences and many other resources from which I formed my argument. This will not be biased towards either part, therefore producing a report which is fair and delivers a reputable argument for the question we are going to discuss. I will outline my reasons for software piracy in the first paragraph, followed by my reasons against it. I will then give my reasoning to agree with downloading copyrighted material, followed by
  • 50. Physics Of Bridges Bridges are a connection of one place of the world to another. They link the vast world together. Bridges were used thousands of years ago, especially by the Romans. In the ancient times and present time, several forces are always encountered when building bridges. The forces determine how big or sturdy a bridgewill be. There are several types of bridges, such as the girder bridge, arch bridge, truss bridge, and suspension bridge. Bridges have been used for a great amount of time. This allows us to discover more about the forces of bridges and he variety of bridges today. The earliest bridges, natural and manmade, were made from wood planks or logs, and later from stone. The Romans, one of the greatest bridge builder of ancient time, built ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These bridges are made of trusses, which are patterns of triangles. The truss was developed during the Industrial Revolution when people were finding ways to develop better girder bridges. These trusses are now used to stabilize and support other bridges, such as suspension bridges. Trusses are used widely because the truss pattern is rigid and can dissipate weight throughout the truss. They can be commonly found on girder bridges, because the truss pattern evens out the forces of tension and compression. A deck truss, a type of truss bridge, is classified by having its roadway above the truss. A through truss is another type of truss bridge that has the truss above the roadway. There are various types of truss patterns, which include the K truss, the Pratt truss, the Warren truss, and the Howe
  • 51. Gun Controls And Gun Control Americans are faced with a big issue of violence in the streets, these streets where elderly people are beaten for their money and women are attacked and raped. Sadly, some people believe that the best way to deal with these violent occurrences is to pass gun control laws that take away legally owned guns from everyone. Not only does gun control end up disarming the innocent but it also violates the Second Amendment. By taking away guns from the American citizens, whom the Second Amendment bestowed onto us this act violates our rights. Unfortunately for those who have legally armed themselves for self defense, gun control would eventually strip away their ability to fend for themselves. Gun control will also end up causing a rise in crime. By taking away arms from good law abiding citizens and leaving them defenseless, it makes things much easier for criminals by knowing that their victims are not armed. Although the gun ban would take away guns from stores, a criminal will find a way to get their hands on one, imagine that. Gun controls are taking away our rights as citizens. If a law abiding citizen happens to enjoy hunting, they will lose that right. Gun controls are also taking away weapons from citizens. Gun control is not having a positive effect on America because it violates the second amendment, takes away rights and it won t reduce the crime rate. A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear
  • 52. Should Immigrants Be Legal Citizens Essay The political battle over immigration has been going on for a long time. Should immigrants be legal citizens of the U.S.? The U.S. should provide a way for illegal immigrants to come into the country legally and become legal citizens because it could increase the job opportunity, It helps the GDP which helps the economy, and it provides immigrants and opportunity for them and their family to have a better life. If the U.S. were to let illegal immigrants become legal citizens it would increase job opportunity for both immigrants and Americans. In the PBS interview, Robert Lynch states, Once they become legalized, that the formerly undocumented can now get access to permits and licenses and credits, and they start businesses. (Lynch3).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a study, The Center for American Progress found, Naturalized workers earn higher wages, consume more goods and services, and pay more taxes, which in turn creates economic growth. If the undocumented immigrants in our nation were granted legal status today and citizenship in five years, the 10 year cumulative increase in U.S. gross domestic product, or GDP, would be $1.1 trillion (CAP 8). Over time, the amount of work immigrants put in and the price at which they work for would leave extra money. As this extra money cumulates it in turns leaves a lot of money that goes to the GDP. In an interview with Robert lynch from The Center for American Progress, he stated that a left leaning think tank , estimates that legalizing the undocumented could boost the country s gross domestic product anywhere from $832 billion dollars to $1.4 trillion dollars (Lynch1).If this money were to come out from letting immigrants come legally into the U.S. it would give more money for buyers to use and sellers a bigger profit from what they were to get out of it. This extra money from which The U.S. gets out of these situations would go back into their government increasing their GDP and
  • 53. NASA Rover Research Paper Opportunity NASA Rover A robot is a machine capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically, especially one programmable by a computer. When you think of a robot, do you think of a dishwasher? Probably not. Robots don t have to be a fancy human or animal shaped machines. It can be something as simple as your cellphone. Some very common robots are washers, dishwashers, automatic vacuums, and some voice activated devices. We have these robots to make everyday tasks easier, to do a better job, or to do something that humans could never do. The three main components of any given robot are the sensors, the actuators, and a computation process. The term robot comes from the extravagant playwright by Karel ДЊapek who introduced the word in his hit play in the 1920 s,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The word itself was drawn from the old Slavonic Church word, robota which means forced labor , drudgery , or servitude . The Mars Exploration Rover mission includes the twin rovers, the Opportunity and Spirit rovers which explore outer space. These rovers are part of NASA s Mars Exploration Program, a long term effort of robotic exploration of the red planet. The Opportunity is mostly made out of different types of sensors to take in various kinds of information. The mast mounted cameras are mounted 1.5 meters(5 feet) high and will provide 360 degree, stereoscopic, humanlike views of the terrain. The robotic arm is capable of movement in much the same way as a human arm with an elbow and wrist, and can place instruments directly up against rock and soil targets of interest. In the mechanical fist of the arm is a microscopic camera that serves the same purpose as a geologist s handheld magnifying lens. Some sensors that the Opportunity has is a Panoramic Camera (Pancam). The Pancam is used for determining minerals, texture, and the structure of the terrain. The Miniature Thermal Emission Spectrometer (Mini TES) is used for identifying promising
  • 54. Integrated GIS Micro-Watershed Model Development This study develops an integrated GIS micro watershed model to support decision making for community planning. Clean drinking water is a scare natural resource for people living in villages in rural eastern Uganda. When clean water is available it reduces mortality rates to water born and water related diseases including cholera, diarrhoea and malaria (UNDP UNEP Poverty Environment Initiative, 2004). Unfortunately, a safe water supply is not always available to a community. This study will run a risk assessment to identify locations where existing water points are susceptible to hazards. Where risks are identified, the study will identify the ideal locations for future clean water wells and other community life facilities. The purpose of this research is to create a model with low data requirements that can be used to improve community planning in almost any context, especially data deficient areas. This research builds upon the research of legacy GIS watershed models. In the 1980s GIS models began to be applied to watershed studies. But these models were designed for data rich areas and as a result have high data requirements. The inputs and criteria for the water point site suitability analysis will be: proximity to water, water flow, land use, landslide risk zoning, and proximity to community health and education facilities. The methodology used in this study will be built upon two standard operating GIS watershed models: the Soil and Water Assessment (SWAT) system
  • 55. Benefits Of Vaccination New Vaccination Requirement for Illinois Children The new school year is just weeks away. Parents, just a reminder that Illinois has a new vaccination requirement going into effect this school year. By law, all children entering the sixth and twelfth grades are required to show proof of having received meningococcal vaccination. Why it s Important to Vaccinate Although it has been from a different risk group, the 7th case of meningitis has recently been discovered in Illinois. It is extremely contagious and spreads through close contact. The disease is most often spread through respiratory and throat secretions mucus and saliva. Activities such as kissing or living in close proximity can place someone at risk for getting meningitis. And
  • 56. The Anti-Hero In The Quiet American How do you measure the life of one person against the greater good? Can it ever be the right thing to sacrifice an innocent person? And how do you know what the greater good really is? (Amy Engel, The Book of Ivy). The greater good is a concept that Thomas Fowler, the protagonist of The Quiet American , uses to justify his part in the murder of an innocent man. Thomas Fowler embodies none of the qualities typically assigned to an protagonist, being a man whose failings from being an adulterer, an opium addict, and ultimately a murderer by choice that draws him into the defined role of the anti hero. The anti hero in a story, like Fowler, is branded by the imperfect, and experienced nature whose flaws both humanizes and horrifies. Thomas Fowler believes his intention was to get Pyle killed for the greater good, he in fact, does not wholly believe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fowler, a citizen of a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy, has sympathies towards the communist party in Vietnam. He would later use this political mindset to explain partly his reason for assisting in the assignation of the democratic Pyle. This is even a darker, and more twisted event, when Fowler admits that not only are his actions motivated by his political and moral ideals, but also that he will recover his young lover, Phuong, from Pyle. Alden Pyle died because Fowler justified his part in the assassination through his ideals of war, and the cost of the innocent, his political sentiments, and the repossession of a woman. He convinces himself that he is the hero of the scene by saving Vietnam from the brashness of the American Pyle, while also receiving the bonus of Phuong in the process. In the end, it is very clear that Fowler is an anti hero, which is made accurately well defined, by his proof of intent in the murder of an innocent man for the greater good of himself, and
