Who Is Josef Mengele The Angel Of Death
Dr. Mengele: The Angel of Death Dr. Josef Mengele began his life alone and without family

of the most unnerving experiments to act on the young and old prisoners living in Auschwitz. Josef

The Nature Of The Iceman
Scientific investigation has been a powerful tool in discovering the truth about the Iceman,
especially with the advancements of technology, which have proved to be significant in developing
our understanding of theories, both old and new, and allowing a reinterpretation of different aspects
of the Otzi s life. In particular, the extensive studies that have been conducted on the Iceman s
health have considerably shed light on the state of his well being. This has led to the discussion of
the nature of the Iceman s occupation, which is an aspect that has been driven by the research
conducted on his lifestyle. The mystery surrounding Otzi s death has been explored, transforming
theories over time, allowing us an insight on his demise. As society has been renovated by the
improvements of technology, the tools used through scientific investigations applied to Otzi have
provided more accuracy, allowing us to uncover the truths about the ins and outs of his health,
lifestyle and death.
The use of scientific research has assisted in discovering more about the various aspects of the
Iceman s lifestyle. The Iceman s origins have been traced back to the Neolithic Age, and based on
the analysis of the isotopic composition of his tooth enamel and bones; they have provided an
insight on where he lived. It has been established that when humans consume food, there are
variants of the same chemical element (isotopes) absorbed in the body, which are then stored there.

They were founded in 1906 by Theodore Roosevelt after threatening to get rid of football if

because coaches, administrators and athletic directors get paid millions of dollars to coach and be
mentors to these players. But the players don t get a small piece of the it, even if they work more

earn money. Student athletes put in so much work and their coaches, administrators, athletic
directors, the NCAA and its affiliates earn billions of dollars off of them every year. From using
their image, televising and marketing them. They do all this for money and don t even care
about these players except for if they started losing money because of the players. They promise

Explosive Black Powder
Most people do not know that we have tunnels underground, or that tunnels inside of rocks for us
to travel through. We use explosives to blast holes into solid areas we need to go through.
Explosives explode because they are made of materials that burn or break down very quickly,
producing a lot of heat and gas. (Wood, 2014). Usually explosives are made with a material called
a detonator, with another layer over it. A detonator is simply used for exploding a device. The
detonator makes a quick chemical reaction in the material that explodes. A chemical reaction is an
action that changes the energy and structure in the content of chemicals. Without a chemical
reaction, the explosives would not explode. There are many chemical reactions... Show more

On the package there would be a certain distance to where you should stand from the explosive.
There is a safety zone, fall out zone, fireworks zone, and spectator zone. These zones would help
you out of harm s way. The safety zone is between the area where people watch the action that is
going on and the action. The fallout zone is behind the fireworks, to which you should not stand
by them because it is very dangerous. The firework zone is between the safety and fallout zone,
it is where all the fireworks would be set up. The spectator zone is where all the people who want
to enjoy sit or stand, it is safe and would not be reached by any explosives. There is a lot of
information about explosives that is still out there to discover. Explosions are often very
dangerous. People often get killed or lose a limb just because they would not be careful or they
would do something wrong. Nevertheless, explosions helped throughout our lifetime by simply
proving roadways to drive on, safety at wars, and fun while watching fireworks. Also, by reading
books and articles about how to use explosives or how to use fun equipment that have explosives in
them, it would help you out with knowing how to use

Pros And Cons Of Zoo s Involvement In Wildlife Conservation
Animal captivation has been an on going debate for many years. The idea of taking wildlife
from their homes, in many eyes, is tragic. To others, it is a step in the right direction. It is a step
towards, not only well developed and in depth research, butalso a step towards the conservation
of endangered species. As one can tell, these views can be quite disputable, however this paper
will discuss and compare both perspectives as well as dive into more specific aspects of wildlife
captivity. Some of these aspects include the lifespan comparisons, specific roaming necessities per
animal and even changes in animal behavior. Of course, keeping animals in captivity has pros and
cons. Given that researchers are still uncertain of captivity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This collection of sources includes mostly online articles as well as several news articles and
books. The sources range from the discussions of the lifespan of numerous animals tothe reasoning
behind study observations and research. In Zoos Involvement in Wildlife Conservation, Ramsey
begins by explaining the comparison between the beginning of animal captivity to the modern day
characteristics. He describes the very first zoos as having the focus to gain profit from the public,
rather than the concentration being towards the welfare of the animal. Today, the well being of
animals is the top priority in many programs across the world. Not only does this article also
describe the challenges that the programs must face, but also the difficult decisions the leaders are
required to make to continue their success in advanced research and conservation. Some of which
include the decision on whether or not to offer predators live prey to exert their natural hunting
instincts. The source concludes by informing the audience that some species could not have
survived without the help and involvement of zoos. Vittania.org emphasizes the effects on animals
in captivity in its article 21 Pros and Cons of Zoos. This source explains how zoos provide
educational learning, preservation of endangered animals to prevent extinction, humane treatment
towards the animals, readily available veterinary care. In addition, zoos also serve as an economic
resource for the community by providing jobs and increasing tourism statistics. It goes on to
explain the negative impacts such as changes in their natural behaviors. Elephants, for example,
need larger enclosures than a zoo can accommodate. Restricting the animals natural need to migrate
results in a shorter lifespan in captivity and also a more aggressive temperament.Another negative
impact

The Components Of Social Work
The main element that drew me to the profession of social work was the diverse opportunities
available. Social work is a very flexible field that consists of many different components such as
family and child welfare, poverty and inequality, and substance abuse/ addiction. The main
component of social work that interests me is working with people who have disabilities, mental
and/or physical. According to our textbook about 11.3% of social workers with bachelor s work
in this field (Cox, Tice, Long, 2016, pg. 17). I discovered that I was interested in this component of
social work after a traumatic experience that left me with a disability.
Component of Social Work A disability is usually defined as a decline in function that can either
be temporary or permanent. There are two main groupings of disabilities; categorial and functional.
Categorial disabilities include mental illnesses and sensory damage which often leads to
developmental delays. In comparison, functional disabilities cause limitations during physical
activity. Individuals can also suffer from more than one disability which is known as a co
occurring disability (Cox et al., 2016, pg. 159). Social workers often view disabilities in three
types; developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and mental disabilities. A developmental
disability is a long term disability that is typically diagnosed before age 22. These disabilities
include Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome(Cox et al., 2016, pg.

Essay On Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a serious chronic medical
condition of the endocrine system that affects women, which can cause infertility in women of
reproductive age. Women with PCOS have abnormal cysts in at least one of their ovaries which
cause the eggs not to fully mature and be released during ovulation. The female reproductive organs
are the uterus, ovary, and fallopian tubes. The ovary is located laterally left to uterus and inferior to
the fallopian tubes. An ovary contains about two million follicles oocyte at birth. Majority will die
off and few will matured throughout life cycle. The anterior pituitary gland secrete follicles

These are the common symptoms associated with PCOS. Women with PCOS have irregular
menstruation or amenorrhea and tend to develop hirsutism known as an increase in unwanted
hairs, especially on the face, legs, stomach, chest, and back. Some of the additional symptoms are
high cholesterol, high blood pressure, Pelvic pain, acne, skin tags, weight gain, oily or dry skin,
patches of skin on arms, breast and neck and anxiety (Thornton et al, 2015).
.
Complication
PCOS can cause inability to conceive and miscarriages in women. Sleep apneas can lead to heart
attack to occur. There is a high risk of developing endometrial cancer in women with PCOS
because the innermost layer is not shedding; overtime the cells from endometrium develop into
uterine cancer. It can spread to other regions of the body. Another complication of PCOS is liver
disease can occur due to the inability of the liver to metabolize the excess glucose secreting in the
body which can lead to insulin resistance, eventually the development of type 2 diabetes in PCOS
patients (Caserta, Adducchio, Picchia, Ralli, Matteucci, Moscarini, 2014).

Personal Statement For Social Work
Personal Statement
The pursuit of a doctoral degree is both exciting and humbling for me. It is exciting that I have a
clear vision of the career I want to pursue as an academic, and humbling to think of the great
opportunity I could have to teach future social workers. Early motivation to enter the field of social
work was in response to adverse childhood experiences with domestic violence, parental substance
abuse, poverty, and homelessness further complicated by foster care intervention. My foster care
experience included five foster placements, enrollment in countless schools, countless lost
relationships, and a failed adoption. Though these experiences created much hardship, they have
certainly promoted resilience and helped lead me to my current ambition of seeking a Ph.D. As a
recipient of foster care intervention, I exited state custody through legal permanence. Through
education, advocacy, and direct social work practice with youth in residential treatment, I acquired
new skills and insight to addressing social and child welfare problems. I am excited for the
opportunity to promote the field of social work in the classroom and improve the lives of youth in
the foster care system through my research.
Personal Goals
In applying to Arizona State University s School of Social Work (ASU SSW) Ph.D. program, I
aspire to peruse a career as a social work educator. I plan to use this platform and newly acquired
skills developed with the university, to advance the field

Herta Muller Research Paper
Herta MГјller
Writing is told from within ones self through expressions and thoughts. Creating stories are what
people do as they walk through life, opening and closing doors, and creating history. Becoming
banned to publish in your own country about the struggles and accomplishments throughout your
childhood you would not think would be a problem. It takes unique individuals to accomplish this.
Nobel Prize winner of Literature in 2009, Herta Muller has done this. Her intense, descriptive
novels, essays, poems, and short stories explaining her issues and strategies growing up in a
country which forced labor and banned her from publication is why she won. Herta MГјller has
discovered strength and independence through writing, becoming the woman she is today.

Germany and here in Germany I was always the Romanian, and in Romania I was always the

The True Freedom Of Free Will
An assumption about freedom is that logically it is something we can possess. Once we take
away whatever it is that is holding us back, at our core there is freedom granted to everyone.
Exploring the idea of what true freedom is and whether or not we have it we begin to see
philosophical theories arise that gives us alternatives to these preconceptions.
Freedom, specifically free will, is usually the one thing we believe we have. Even though there are
obvious factors affecting us, our free will, or freedom, is what we think we truly possess. Free will
is defined, for these purposes, as the ability to act on your second order desires. If we are able to
act otherwise we have free will. It is when this ability is taken away that we loose ... Show more

By definition the man does not actually have freedom because he does not have the ability to do
otherwise. He cannot leave the room even though he does not want to. This is what Locke
believes we are experiencing when we believe we have free will. We do not actually have the
ability to do otherwise and determinism offers us another alternative for why things happen.
Some people think this conflicts with the basic ideology of free will because if determinism is
true then everything has a cause and what happens is not a product of our own choices, i.e. our
free will. Because causal relationships mean everything when discussing freedom, we will look at
the main facets of determinism and how those intersect with free will.
Determinism has its own spectrum. Hard Determinism agrees with determinism but says that there
is no free will. It does not allow for free will to exist because everything has a cause determined by
these ambiguous external factors. This is what theologians call Incompatibilism. Determinism is
therefore not compatible with free will.
If incompatibilism is true and there is not such thing as free will then moral responsibility is left to
the cosmos. The main criticism, or question, directed at incompatibilism is where does moral
responsibility fit in?
Moral responsibility is defined as what a thing has when it can be properly praised or blamed for
something. If

Essay on Existentialism in Night
Existentialism in Night In his essay Existentialism , Jean Paul Sartre discusses the main beliefs
of existentialism. Perhaps the most important belief of existentialism is that there is no human
nature, and there is no God. This means that each individual man has control of his own destiny.
The definition of each individual man is the sum of his life and all he has accomplished in his life.
He is also responsible for all the choices and actions he makes in his life. These types of choices
and actions can be seen in the book Night by Elie Wiesel. This book is a story about a boy, Wiesel,
who is taken to a concentration camp with his family. It follows him and his father through their
trials and movement from Auschwitz... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poor man Moshe the Beadle helps him; they would sit for hours and talk. Sartre would call this
existentialism. Wiesel took control of his own destiny and future, despite his father s wishes. He
doesn t let his father s efforts discourage him. He begins to learn the cabbala, which is an
existentialist decision since the main idea of existentialism is creating your own self.
Another example of an existentialist decision occurs in the concentration camp of Buna, when a
young boy is to be hanged with two adults. Many of the Oberkapos had little boys that they liked
and had hang around for sexual purposes. Someone at the camp was suspected of blowing up
the electric station, and eventually they found it to be the Dutch Oberkapo, and he was arrested.
This Oberkapo had a little boy (not his son), and he would not say whether or not the man had
done it, so they decided to hang him. Many of the men are thoroughly disturbed by the fact that
the boy being hanged was so young. Many of the young boys grew meaner than some adults, but
the Dutchman s little servant was loved by all. He had the face of a sad angel (60). The
Lagerkapo who is supposed to do the hanging refuses, and SS officers have to step in and
perform the execution. This Lagerkapo shows an existentialist decision because he takes control
of his own life. He does not want his life to include the hanging of a small boy. Remember,
according to Sartre, a man s life includes

Dog Food Fried, Flipped and Devoured
Eating dog food may not be seen as the easiest thing to stomach because the smell, texture and by
products found within the mixture are thought of as awful and revolting. In Ann Hodgman s No
Wonder They Call Me a Bitch , although the title may suggest otherwise, different types of dogfood
are discussed. In this essay, Hodgman aims to inform her readers about the inequality in different
types of dog food, as well as to entertain and amuse. Hodgman is writing to a broad audience, one of
dog lovers and owners, as well as those that may be curious as to what is really in dog food, or
more generally the packaging and processing of mass produced food of any kind. Language,
description and humor are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the author discusses a lite dog food and how the most positive part of the meal was
that it didn t make her fat (313). There is also a small amount of irony in the essay through the idea
of a taste testing going on, although it is not the pleasant experience of its connotation. The effect
of this hilarity creates a stronger contrast between the subject of the essay and comedic tone of the
writer.
In using the different techniques of language, description and humor, the author effectively
creates a bond with the reader, while at the same time informing and entertaining. At the core of
this essay, Hodgman is looking at how we view not only our dog s processed and packaged food,
but ours as well. Implied in the text are the questions regarding how well we take care of our
pets and ourselves. I think that the largest unknown within the essay is the question of how she
made it through the smell, texture and appearance of all this dog food. This leaves us being
reminded that if you re determined, there will be a way to make it through the mock bone
marrows and the Butcher s Blends and perhaps find a little bit more in food, and in life, than oily
nuggets and canned by products. (553)

Negative Effects Of Napoleon Bonaparte
The Napoleonic Age was the most controversial time period. Some people thought Napoleon was a
reformer, while others thought he was an absolute dictator. One thing is for sure though, that he
shaped France/Europe into the continent/country is is today. Napoleon was very narcissistic and
cruel, and did not value humanlife. At the same time, he believed in education and instruction.
Also, he positively influenced the schools and created the Napoleonic Code, which solved a lot of
France s problems. Napoleon Bonaparte had a negative impact on France, because he mistreated the
rights that every human should obtain, created a bad image for other countries, and only really
cared about absolute power.
Napoleon was born in Corsica, Italy and was entered directly into the Military, at age ten.
Napoleon s leadership, and role as emperor, was heavily based around the fact that all of his
childhood was being trained in the military! Some people view this in a negative light (seeing other
people just as a target, and appreciating human life.) Some people on the other hand, view this in a
positive light (Being a good instructor, and knowing how to make the right moves with politics.)
During the French revolution the citizens of France tried to create a republic, and when they failed
continuously, Napoleon Bonaparte stepped up and became a strong leader in France. In 1799, the
government started to grow more and more corrupt, and that s when Napoleon came into play.
Napoleon was an

identity goes from an outsider in the group of greasers. Most greasers are hoods, criminals and
they all have a specific look. While Pony looks like them, he is different. He grows more like
them throughout the story. At the end it s almost like a repeating cycle. He becomes the kid he
use to be again. In the beginning, of The Outsider Ponyboy was an average kid with good grades
and could run really fast. He wasn t like the other kids in the group of greasers. They robbed gas

An innocent kid at the top of his class. In the book his very close friend, Johnny speaks his last

Earlier in this story we learned that gold is a way of saying someone is pure and innocent.
Johnny didn t want Pony to be a criminal or anything so he said this to make him act innocent
again and it worked. Johnny had hope that Pony would get over this and he did. In the text Zebra

Theme Of Love In La Belle Dame Sans Merci
Bitter. Sweet. Tender. Love. This subjective idea may refer to a concept, a feeling, an attitude, an
emotion, one could have towards another. Throughout history, one s perception on love may vary
due to the ideology they were being indoctrinated with as well as their family background. Given
that different historical periods may affect one s perception on their idea of love, an analysis on the
poems La Belle Dame sans Merci by John Keats, My Last Duchess by Robert Browning, and
Mother in a Refugee Camp by Chinua Achebe, will be made in order to examine and explore how
poets living in different times present love in their own unique approach.
La Belle Dame sans Merci is a ballad written by English poet John Keats in the year 1819, where ...

When the knight and the woman was having a sexual intercourse, She looked at him as she did
love, / And made sweet moan The declarative, she looked at him as she did love expresses the
idea of unrequited love. The woman may have only decided upon having a sexual intercourse
with him to favour his sexual desires, yet it does not represent that she has an affection for him.
On the other hand an iambic tetrameter is also used in the same quotation as a motif of the
knight s heartbeat, this represents the excitement and passionate emotions he has within the
relationship and sexual intercourse. A sense of negativity can be seen in the line And made
sweet moan , the iambic dimeter in this line has a foreboding effect to it, hinting that love
between the woman and the knight will not last long. Likewise to La Belle Dame sans Merci ,
Keats short poem The day is gone, and all its sweets are gone! also signifies his role in the
Romanticism movement by the reinforcement of his individual expression and obsessive nature
towards his lover Fanny Brawne. This is evident when Keats display the sincere and direct
emotions of himself in the title The day is gone, and all its sweets are gone! The dependent
clause, and all its sweets are gone is a metaphor that the sweetness of their relationship has
disappeared due to the distance between Keats and Brawne. This metaphor can be likened to La
Belle Dame sans Merci through the knight s loneliness and sentimental emotions when he waits
for the woman he loves. The intensifier all reinforces Keats desires to see Brawne, not seeing
her for a day does not only signify the loss of sweetness, but also marking the end of his day. He is
eager to see Brawne, and by not seeing her the sweetness of his day, the significance of his day has
vanished, disappeared. This poem can

Analysis Of Jack Crawford Taylor s Vision Essay
Enterprise Holdings, as it is known today, is one of the largest privately owned family
businesses in North America, which continues to profoundly affect the car rental and leasing
businesses around the globe. The corporation has prided itself on customer service, valuing
employees, and has the best retention rate in the industry. There is not a specialized formula for
building a successful corporation, so how has Enterprise developed such a powerful company
with a strong reputation and loyal customers? The story of Enterprise began with Jack Crawford
Taylor s vision. Jack s character was shaped by his naval experiences as an officer and pilot
where he learned the importance of honesty, hard work, dedication, collaboration, and doing
things correctly, is the only way to succeed. After the war, Jack was a successful Cadillac
salesperson at Lindburg Dealership in St. Louis Missouri, which gave him financial security and
knowledge about the car industry. During a visit to Chicago, Jack observed the ease and
convenience of Cadillac s leasingoptions and recognized the opportunity for growth potential in
this market, since few companies offered car leases. Jack approached his boss about starting a
leasing company on the premises of Lindburg Cadillac. In 1957, Jack invested $10,000 and
Executive Leasing Company was established with seven cars and one employee. Jack s investment
paid off and today Enterprise is a global business operating in forty countries, with 8,600

The Relationship Between Violent Crime And The Following...
Literature Review
Introduction
This is a non exhaustive literature review of research published between 2006 and 2016. It relies
primarily on peer reviewed literature published within the discipline of sociology, but also draws
upon studies related in other disciplines such as criminology and psychology. The studies in this
literature review focus on violent crime in the U.S. Many studies in this review discuss how some
sociological variables can influence crime for better or for worse. This literature review will discuss
the relationship between violent crime and the following five themes: race, religion, gender, income,
and immigration.
Race
Violent crime has consistently been a significant issue throughout U.S. history, especially between
racial and ethnic groups. As a country, we ve had to deal with violent crime dating back to slavery
in the 1600 s, up unto today with issues such as police brutality against racial and ethnic minorities.
Researchers have found that segregation between races within neighborhoods can have a heavy
influence on violent crime (Hipp 2007; Krivo, Byron, Calder, Peterson, Browning, Kwon, Lee
2014), although not all literature had the same results. Three races that were used throughout the
research were Blacks, Whites, and Latinos. Within racially segregated neighborhoods, those with a
higher percentage of African Americans experience higher rates of violent crime (Hipp 2007). The
same thing can also be said about Latinos. Among racially

In my point of view, I feel that Hatshepsut made the right decision of crowning herself king.
There were many reasons why I support this idea. One reason was because Hatshepsut husband

I Designed My Lesson Plan
a.) I designed my lesson plan to be used in first and second grade. This lesson plan was designed to
be a cross curriculum lesson about spiders that incorporates the following subject areas: Science,
Language Arts, and Visual/Performance Arts. This lesson will be taught during the month of
October after students have gained prior knowledge through an insectunit that was taught the month
before.
(b.) The content object that I used in this lesson was for students to be able to identify important
information about spiders. I think that providing students with background knowledge prior
(teaching a month long unit on insects) would assist students when it comes time to do a unit on
spiders. I think that the most challenging aspect for this lesson would be the vocabulary words.
The vocabulary list that I have complied varies in difficulty and I believe that some of the words
would be more challenging to some of the students. I would ensure that these words were taught
previously in the insect unit in order for students to become familiar with these words. I would
also have prior knowledge of my student s abilities and provide individualized word lists that
match the student s ability. In addition, I would stock the student library with a variety of books
about spiders that contain the vocabulary words, and utilize various center activities to reinforce the
lesson objectives for this unit. The content object that I created is both measureable and observable

Symbolism In The Divine Comedy
Every arrangement of words seems to be an understatement when mentioning the success and
influence of Dante s epic poem The Divine Comedy. An allegory is a story, poem, or picture that
can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one (Oxford
Dictionary). The Divine Comedy has provided inspiration for a large body of Western Art.
Originally published in the 14th century, his medieval poem written in the vernacular language of
the people has been the material for countless numbers of new editions containing illustrations.
Each artist finds their own clever way to express the messages in The Divine Comedy. The amount
of art dedicated to this epic poem is just as impressive as the poem itself.
Inferno appears to be the most popular of the three books, especially in the visual arts. Dante s is
a visual imagination (T.S. Elliot). Extremely detailed, the book describes Hell in the most powerful
visual terms. In the Inferno, Dante and the poet Virgil go to Hell where they witness the many
punishments for those who disobeyed God during their lives. Each layer of Hell, described in thirty
three cantos and one introductory canto, is unique and fitting for the soul and the specific sin that
was committed. (Web Gallery of Art, 2017)
The most accurate representation of the structure of Dante s Hell, Sandro Botticelli is responsible for
The Map of Hell, which depicts the nine circles of Hell. Described as a cave, the Map of Hell on
paper is in the shape of a funnel with layers. Each layer is a level of Hell described by Dante.
The levels get smaller and smaller until, at the bottom of the cave or funnel one sees a satanic like
beast at the bottom or core. Starting with Limbo and ending with Treachery, each layer is drawn
out in magnifying detail. Sandro Botticelli was an Italian painter of the early Renaissance, the
Florentine was alive from around 1445 to 1510 (Florence Inferno, 2017). The man responsible for
The Birth of Venus, a masterpiece that is referred to in both historical context and in pop culture,
he was a very decadent and detailed artist. His illustrations for The Divine Comedy were extremely
devoted to the text and very precise. They seem to reflect the recognizable

Rise of Networks and ICTs are transforming the International System
Introduction
Revolution in Information Technology has changed the entire meaning of International Social and
Economic System. This change became more prominent in the fourth quarter of twentieth century
when the core activities of circulation, consumption and production of markets, information,
technology, labor, capital and raw materials all started to be controlled globally. These activities are
now organized directly or by means of network connection between business and economic agents.
This system of new economy is more commonly known as globalization and when we talk about it,
the first thing that comes to mind is an instant exchange of information and trading by means of
networks. Information and communication technology has played a major role in globalizing the
world and transforming the international social and economic system.
Globalization has now created the business market networks in which the whole world participates
to raise the economy and thus profitability. In fact, it is now not possible to think of globalization
without understanding the concept of networks. In order to compete with the rest of the world,
every nation or business has to grow their network.
As noted in World Summit on IT, Information and Communication technology is acting like a
catalyst in making development to social and economic system of the world. ICT is expected and

Figurative Language In Frankenstein
In Frankenstein, Shelley uses a variety of figurative language that contribute to the novel s
depressing atmosphere. Figurative language, such as allusions, personifications, and similes,
establishes a relationship between two literally contrasting subjects. It prompts readers to more
closely analyze the subjects for underlying similarities. It can also add to depth to the piece and
enhance the overall novelby making abstract concepts more digestible.
During the monster s narration, the author utilizes a series of biblical allusions to express the
monster s anguish and his relationship with Victor. While the monster identifies with Satan, he
also points out, Satan had his companions, fellow devils, to admire and encourage him; but I am
solitary and abhorred (Shelley 93). Satan is usually viewed as a miserable creature, because he
was exiled from heaven and can no longer live in God s glory. However, the monster reveals that
even Satan is more fortunate than him, because at least, Satan is not completely isolated in Hell.
The allusion emphasizes the extent of the monster s loneliness. Additionally, the monster reveals,
Many times, I consider Satan as the fitter emblem of my condition... (Shelley 93). Shelley
compares the monster to the biblical figure, Satan, who embodies evil. She emphasizes the monster
s miserable existence, because similar to Satan, his existence has only brought tragedy and evil

The Pay Gap And Gender Discrimination

November 10, 2014
Abstract
For this paper, my objective was to investigate the pay gap and gender discrimination in the
workplace. Through systematic examination, this paper explores numerous factors correlating to
the wage gap such as occupational choices and annual earnings. On average, women have lower
income due to emphasis on familial responsibilities and desiring more accommodating work
schedules than men. The wage gap primarily exists within same occupational fields. In these fields,
women were often faced with the glass ceiling and unable to advance in higher positions because of
their gender. Women also earned less pay since less likely to ask for promotions or higher wages.
In short, gender shouldn t be a factor in measuring equal pay.

Mind the Wage Gap
Throughout history, women have typically been undermined and denied the same equal rights as
men. From the Equal Pay Act to the Paycheck Fairness Act, women have fought an uphill battle
for their gender equality. Women earn less than men in almost every job occupation regardless of
their race, age, ethnicity, or academic credibility. Most often, the emphasis that women place on
family leading to breaks in employment and a desire for more flexible working hours negatively
impacts their career trajectory, and is correlated with issue of the nationwide wage gap.

Beowulf will forever be praised for his heroic deed for ...no better king had ever/ Lived, no
prince so mild, no man/ So open to his people, so deserving of praise (l. 895 897). Overall,
Beowulf is a better ruler than Arthur because although Arthur had remarkable morals and
intentions, he was not praised nor respected like Beowulf. If there is no respect for a leader, than
how can one be a good leader? Beowulf s men cherished him and believed in him. They had his
back for every choice he made. After Arthur decided to not accuse his wife of treason, some of
his men betrayed and left him. Also, Beowulf had no gluttony and did not desire any gold or
riches. He was generous and gave all to his people. For example, Beowulf admirably states, I
sold my life/ For this treasure and I sold it well (l. 809 810). His relief upon seeing the treasure
demonstrates his desire to leave something to his citizens. Beowulf made the Danes a peaceful
people once again, making him one of their greatest kings and heroes. While Arthur had
charismatic qualities and benevolent morals, Beowulf, in a modern society, would be most
likeable because he was a more sufficient leader. Every hero desires to be remembered for more
than one heroic inclination. To protect mankind from evil, to use his powers to rescue his family

An Analysis of Three Presidential Elections
In this paper, three years of presidential elections shall be analyzed, mainly keeping an eye on the
turnout of voter, and the causes and effects of such turnouts. It shall be observed that voting
turnouts are directly related to the attitude candidate have and the ways in which they make fellow
citizens eager about their potential presidency, and the policies they plan on bringing to the country
that are related to the general public.
The first year of Presidential elections to be analyzed is that of 1988. Records show that in 1988,
in which Dukakis and Bush were battling for the title of President, the turnout was even lower than
the average expectation and only 91,594,686 people showed up to cast their vote. This figure
concludes that 50.1 percent of people eligible to vote came to elect the president of their choice and
the rest did not show interest. (Wright, 1995)
As mentioned the 1988 election was not very successful in attaining the president of the choice of
most American people because a very low number of people showed up to cast their vote. The low
turnout can be explained through several reasons.
First of all, it must be realized that Dukakis was a democratic candidate. It is well known that
democrats usually attract the low socioeconomic population who are more likely to skip voting for
reasons that are not political. However, those with higher socioeconomic statuses, who are less
likely to skip elections, are generally in favor of Republican leaders.

Brown Vs Smith
Brown v Smith In the club bar Smith, by way of a practical joke, pulled a chair away just as
Brown (the referee) was about to sit down, resulting in Brown falling over and striking his head
on the floor. Therefore S. may be liable under the rule in Wilkinson v Downton, in addition to
battery. He will not be liable for assault since this requires reasonable apprehension by B and that
does not seem to be the case. Battery has been defined earlier when discussing his liability for J s
injury, so although the elements from the criteria will not be repeated here it will still apply to
this scenario. Both the act and immediate infliction can be dealt with together; in this case, the
act of pulling the chair away was a positive act and was immediately inflicted since B. was about
to sit down instantly, as a result of which he fell and injured his head. As for intention, its scope is
argued to be wide enough to cover practical jokes (Williams v Humphrey); for example, pushing
someone into the pool, or even an amicably intended kiss, can be argued to amount to battery. In
this case, even if S. were to argue that,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of the books combine these elements with their own unique understanding of the story that they

The Epic of Gilgamesh revealed that after his sexual encounter with Shamhat, the herd rejected
him due to his lack of innocence, which made the beast to flee his body and scattered the gazelle

comparison of the events that resulted in the movement of Adam from the Garden of Eden and
those with the mythical ones documented in the ancient books such as the Epic of Gilgamesh
highlighted its uniqueness. He also explained that Eve s intention was different from that of the
Harlot sent by Gilgamesh to test Enkidu. The book of Genesis shows that Eve s inquisitive nature
made her succumb to the trick of the snake. In contrast, the Harlot s motive was to utilize the
sexual urges of Enkidu to gain his trust and fulfill the purpose of civilization.

The Pros of Animal Testing Essay
Albert Sabin, the developer of the polio vaccine once said, Without animal research, polio would
still be claiming thousands of lives each year. Polio is a deadly disease caused by a virus that
spreads from person to person. This infectious disease renders the brain and spinal cord helpless
while also ensuring a permanent case of paralysis to the victim. According to the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, ...13,000 to 20,000 para lytic cases were reported annually,
before the 18th century. After the introduction of the polio vaccine, ...a total of 2,525 paralytic
cases were reported, compared with 61 in 1965. This dramatic decrease in the prominence of the
polio disease can only be attributed to the success of animal testing.... Show more content on

The Animal Welfare Act (AWA) requires research facilities to have a certified veterinarian, ...who
shall provide adequate veterinary care. The AWA also requires animals used in research to be
presented with appropriate housing, feeding, handling, sanitation, ventilation, and sheltering. The
regulations are promptly guarded by The Institutional Care and Use Committee. The Institutional
Care and Use Committee must ensure the appropriate handling and treatment of laboratory animals
by reviewing and inspecting every research study. If a research study is viewed as potentially
harmful to animals without reason then the Committee will close the study. The safety of test
animals are protected and monitored by federal agencies. The notion of animals being brutally kept
in hostile conditions can easily be swept away by the actions and protocols enacted by the U.S.
government. These actions and protocols are meant to ensure the humane treatment of test animals.
Another point of opposition directed towards animal testing is the belief that research on animals
is irrelevant to the beneficiary of people because animals are different from people, rendering
experiments inaccurate and useless. PETA has noted that the Food and Drug Association has
accounted, ...92 percent of all drugs that are shown to be safe and effective in animal tests fail in

Pregnancy in Overweight and Obese Women Which Is Maintained Post partum. Obesity Research
Clinical Practice (2012): 84. Print.
The article by L.J. Moran and his colleagues, show the results of pregnant women who are affected
by their maternal diet during and after pregnancy. The article was published in International Journal
of Obesity, after being peer revised in July 2012 and being published on August 2012 and intended
for an audience of medical professionals, and pregnant woman with concerns regarding their diet.
The research initially included 301 pregnant woman randomized, but had exempted data from 10
due to complications. The 291 pregnant participants in the research shared common trends
including age, body mass index, and a similar background in the lower class with a social
disadvantage. The women were given a Harvard Semi quantitative Food Frequency questionnaire at
28 and 36 weeks and 4 months post partum (LJ Moran et al, 705). The questionnaire was then used
to compare the recommended dietary intake and adequate intake of the pregnant woman and the
maternal and neonatal outcomes. The nutritional diet during pregnancy was suggested to have
many factors that determine the potential harm on both the mother and child. It was concluded that
when a woman has an unbalanced diet, the pregnancy is put at a high risk. When associated with a
decrease in diet quality, the pregnancy

Compare And Contrast William Pitt And Napoleon Bonaparte
Hunter Pasternak Dr Reed British Classics 21 March 2016 The Romantic Period: Political
Rulers The romantic period was a time in British history that lasted from 1785 to 1832.
Throughout the era, there were rulers who either helped or harmed the years to follow. For
example, this included Louis XVI, William Pitt, George III, and of course Napoleon Bonaparte.
Each of these leaders influenced this time period that they governed in. One of the first rulers was
William Pitt. Born on August 15th, 1707, he grew up to further his knowledge on politics at
several colleges; one of them being Oxford. As Pitt aged, he was elected to the House of

to France which caused him to serve with the French military. During this time, he was able to
save the government from counter revolutionary forces in 1795 and was then named the
Commander of the Army of the Interior. Given this status, he proceeded to do many great things
with the power ranging from expanding the French Empire to reforming the economy and legal

Austria and Russia, expanding the empire. Yet, he eventually invaded Russia again and failed.
With this resting on his shoulders, he felt pressured and surrendered to the allied forces and was
exiled to the island of Elba. This did not last long for Napoleon escaped in 1815 and returned to
Paris as well as power. He then proceeded to lead the country back into battle and lose...again.

Freshmen Misconceptions
Although almost everyone was or will be a Freshmen they are very misunderstood and
stereotyped. Many people portray Freshmen to be small. When people often think of Freshmen
they picture them as running everywhere. They are portrayed as Immature the majority of the
time. People like to portray them as being loud all as well. The biggest misconception is they are
rude. They are portrayed this way because there was a time freshmen were small, Immature and
would run everywhere but as time went on Freshmen became less Immature, calmed down as
stopped running everywhere and not everyone stayed small. Freshmen should stopped being
portrayed in such negative ways and they should be looked at as just fellow students. Freshmen are

Andrew Jackson Message Regarding Indian Relations Summary
Rhetoric of Message Regarding Indian Relations ; Andrew Jackson Unwrapped
When one hears the name Andrew Jackson, there are many feelings that are conjured up by an
individual. Some of these emotions include fear, disgust, and comedy. These sentiments are of
reason for substantial evidence exists to prove these emotions plausible. Andrew Jackson was the
seventh president under the Constitution of the United States of America who presided from 1829
until 1837. However, he was the first president to be impeached. With his controversial presidency,
Andrew Jackson implemented many policies that continue to impact the United States in the
modern era. His most controversial contribution was the Indian Removal Act. The Indian Removal
Act prompted the infamous Trail of Tears that killed many CherokeeNative Americans and moved
them westward to confined reservations. Of course, to implement such grand policy, Jackson had to
unduly convince Congress of those actions. In Andrew Jackson s speech given February 22nd,
1831 entitled Message Regarding Indian Relations, he tries to vindicate the Indian Removal Act,
outline the benefits of such legislation, and explain why such it was indeed important. Rhetorical
strategies such as ethos, pathos, and logos are effectively utilized by Jackson to persuade Congress
to believe in the merits of upholding the Indian Removal Act which then lead to westward
expansion and Native American migration from their homelands.

Toyota s Case Analysis Of The Toyota Motor Company
Toyota Motor Corporation is an international car manufacturer that is based out of Toyota, Japan.
Toyota started vehicle production in 1933 with the company being a division of Toyoda
Automatic Loom Works devoted to the production of automobiles under the direction of the
founder s son, Kiichiro Toyoda. Throughout the early years of Toyota, they were well known for
making highly desirable vehicles that were efficient and reliable. However, in recent years
Toyota has been plagued with recalls for various reasons. Many of these recalls are safety related
issues that have tainted to company s sterling reputation. For instance, in January 2010, Toyota
suspended sales of eight recalled vehicle models to fix accelerator pedals with mechanical
problems that could cause them to become stuck. In December 2012, Toyota announced an
agreement worth more than $1 billion to settle a lawsuit involving unintended acceleration in
some of its vehicles (Wikipedia, 2017). Business experts believed that it was not necessarily the
recall that damaged Toyota s reputation, but rather the way that the recalls were handled. Many
individuals believe that Toyota executives were insincere in their apologies, and that they did very
poorly at explaining the recalls and what the course of correction was for the problems (Kaufman,
2010). Toyota s CEO, Akio Toyoda, stated in an inter interview that the company was growing to
quickly and was putting growth related goals above quality concerns

How Does The Implementation Of Graphic Organisers Impact...
Title
Everyone loves a good story! : Using graphic organisers to scaffold a narrative.
Abstract
Research Question
How does the implementation of graphic organisers impact student learning with regard to a text
type in literacy?
Rationale
Literature Review
Introduction
Graphic organisers used in writing a narrative are a visual cue for ordering information. To full
understand the purpose of graphic organisers in classrooms it is useful to break the term down
and look at the defintions of both graphic and organiser . The term graphic can be described as an
adjective and means clear (2014). While the term organiser can be defined as a person or a thing
used for organising. (2014, Cambridge Dictionary Online)

Teaching Practices
Educators use the term graphic organisers which refers to a range of devices such as concept maps,
mind webs, semantic maps, knowledge maps and tables. (O Donnell, 2012, p. 335) Effective
writing programs use both modelled, guided and independent teaching strategies to help students
comprehend and become successful in their creative writing (NSW Department of Education and
Training Curriculum Support Directorate).
Graphic organisers can be implemented into this cycle which can be best described as I do , We
do and You do (Christian, 2014). For the first stage of I do a graphic organiser can be selected by
the teacher and displayed to the class, modelling ways of note taking and using the sections of the
organiser to list ideas for further development in the writing task. Modelled writing means both
modelling to students how to write and selecting models such as a graphic organiser to demonstrate
how writing works (NSW Department of Education and Training Curriculum Support Directorate).
The teaching strategy of we do would involve the class making decisions with the guidance of the
teacher about what graphic organiser to use and what points they think should be included in the
organiser before jointly constructing a narrative. Finally, students can independently select and
complete their own individual graphic organisers, known as I do , before then going on to write
their own stories. Students

Essay On The Hunt For Red October
Karl Marx popularized the communist slogan, From each according to his ability, to each
according to his needs . In Russia prior to 1991, communism was the form of government and
demanded complete subordination of self to the greater good of the collective. The Hunt for Red
October shows a major contrast between Soviet and the American lifestyles. It was a fight between
differences in political ideology; capitalism versus communism; liberty versus equality. It is the
American belief in freedom that provides us the opportunity to strive to be better and accomplish
more both individually and collectively.
This story takes place in the 1980 s during the Cold War when tensions between the Soviet Union
and the United States were high. Mutual mistrust and fear drove the need to assure citizens of their
safety and protection. Both countries relied heavily on military prowess such as submarine
technology, the main setting in this novel, to show strength. Jack Ryan, an analyst for the CIA,
symbolizes the American patriot. He uses logic and understanding of military history to determine
that a Russian submarine is trying to defect, while others in the U.S. government believe the
Russians main intent is to attack. Marko Ramius, the Captain of ... Show more content on

James Truslow Adams The American Dream
James Truslow Adams in 1931 coined the term The American Dream in his book The Epic of
America (Michels, n.d., para. 1). He wrote of an America that offered freedom of religion, and
speech, as well as political and social opportunities that few other countries offered. However,
according to Eva Michels, The American Dream means something different for each individual, it
refers to the way of life that Americans strive for and have equal rights to achieve regardless of
social class or nationality (n.d., para. 4). She goes on to write that for some this dream can mean
opportunities and equality, while for others it can mean materialism and gained wealth (Michels,
n.d., para. 6). On the other hand, there is a notion that The American Dream is free for the taking
for anyone who desires wealth and freedom. Robert A. Heinlein once, quickly rejected this notion
saying, Nothing of value is free. Even the breath of life is purchased at birth only through gasping
effort and pain (n.d., n.p.). Immigrants have been attracted to the opportunities of American life
since 1607 when colonists created the first settlement in Jamestown, since then people have
migrated to America for many reasons. These immigrants have entered the country expecting that
these freedoms and The American Dream are free creating an out of control immigrationproblem.
As more and more people have immigrated, crime, drugs, and negative economic consequences
have resulted. The American government needs to

(a) Nemawashi is an agricultural metaphor. The idea is that before a farmer plants a seed, he
should prepare the roots and the soil, so that the seed has the best chance of survival. It is a
political process by which an unofficial understanding is reached before a final decision is made on
a particular matter. Nemawashi is Bottom up style decision making (middle management has the
greatest influence on decision making). The Japanese are primarily concerned with harmoniously

Before everyone takes a seat, it is an essential part of Japanese business etiquette to exchange
business cards. In Japan, business cards are called meishi . They are considered not only as
serious tools for establishing business contacts, but also as identification of the individual and
the company he/she represents. Business cards should be printed with one side in Japanese and
one side in the language of the individual s home country. It is in ones best interest to offer their
business card with both hands as this denotes greater respect. Unlike many Western countries
where it is acceptable to pocket a business card upon receipt, it is considered extremely rude and
disrespectful in Japan. In comparison it is expected for the recipient to review and memorize the
details printed on the card and then carefully place it in a card holder or pocketbook. As Japanese
business meetings are conducted formally, it is unacceptable for members to dress casually.
Acceptable attire for men includes conservative suits in a dark color. Women are also expected to
dress conservatively and should avoid wearing trousers as Japanese men may take it offensively. In

We use explosives to blast holes into solid areas we need to go through. Explosives explode because they are made of materials that burn or break down very quickly, producing a lot of heat and gas. (Wood, 2014). Usually explosives are made with a material called a detonator, with another layer over it. A detonator is simply used for exploding a device. The detonator makes a quick chemical reaction in the material that explodes. A chemical reaction is an action that changes the energy and structure in the content of chemicals. The idea of taking wildlife from their homes, in many eyes, is tragic. To others, it is a step in the right direction. It is a step towards, not only well developed and in depth research, butalso a step towards the conservation of endangered species. As one can tell, these views can be quite disputable, however this paper will discuss and compare both perspectives as well as dive into more specific aspects of wildlife captivity. The sources range from the discussions of the lifespan of numerous animals tothe reasoning behind study observations and research. In Zoos Involvement in Wildlife Conservation, Ramsey begins by explaining the comparison between the beginning of animal captivity to the modern day characteristics. He describes the very first zoos as having the focus to gain profit from the public, rather than the concentration being towards the welfare of the animal. Today, the well being of animals is the top priority in many programs across the world. Not only does this article also describe the challenges that the programs must face, but also the difficult decisions the leaders are required to make to continue their success in advanced research and conservation. Some of which include the decision on whether or not to offer predators live prey to exert their natural hunting instincts. The source concludes by informing the audience that some species could not have survived without the help and involvement of zoos. Vittania.org emphasizes the effects on animals in captivity in its article 21 Pros and Cons of Zoos. This source explains how zoos provide educational learning, preservation of endangered animals to prevent extinction, humane treatment towards the animals, readily available veterinary care. In addition, zoos also serve as an economic resource for the community by providing jobs and increasing tourism statistics. It goes on to explain the negative impacts such as changes in their natural behaviors. Elephants, for example, need larger enclosures than a zoo can accommodate. Restricting the animals natural need to migrate results in a shorter lifespan in captivity and also a more aggressive temperament.Another negative impact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Personal Statement For Social Work Personal Statement The pursuit of a doctoral degree is both exciting and humbling for me. It is exciting that I have a clear vision of the career I want to pursue as an academic, and humbling to think of the great opportunity I could have to teach future social workers. Early motivation to enter the field of social work was in response to adverse childhood experiences with domestic violence, parental substance abuse, poverty, and homelessness further complicated by foster care intervention. My foster care experience included five foster placements, enrollment in countless schools, countless lost relationships, and a failed adoption. Though these experiences created much hardship, they have certainly promoted resilience and helped lead me to my current ambition of seeking a Ph.D. As a recipient of foster care intervention, I exited state custody through legal permanence. Through education, advocacy, and direct social work practice with youth in residential treatment, I acquired new skills and insight to addressing social and child welfare problems. I am excited for the opportunity to promote the field of social work in the classroom and improve the lives of youth in the foster care system through my research. Personal Goals In applying to Arizona State University s School of Social Work (ASU SSW) Ph.D. program, I aspire to peruse a career as a social work educator. • 14. The True Freedom Of Free Will An assumption about freedom is that logically it is something we can possess. Once we take away whatever it is that is holding us back, at our core there is freedom granted to everyone. Exploring the idea of what true freedom is and whether or not we have it we begin to see philosophical theories arise that gives us alternatives to these preconceptions. Freedom, specifically free will, is usually the one thing we believe we have. Even though there are obvious factors affecting us, our free will, or freedom, is what we think we truly possess. Free will is defined, for these purposes, as the ability to act on your second order desires. If we are able to act otherwise we have free will. It is when this ability is taken away that we loose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By definition the man does not actually have freedom because he does not have the ability to do otherwise. He cannot leave the room even though he does not want to. This is what Locke believes we are experiencing when we believe we have free will. We do not actually have the ability to do otherwise and determinism offers us another alternative for why things happen. Some people think this conflicts with the basic ideology of free will because if determinism is true then everything has a cause and what happens is not a product of our own choices, i.e. our free will. Because causal relationships mean everything when discussing freedom, we will look at the main facets of determinism and how those intersect with free will. Determinism has its own spectrum. Hard Determinism agrees with determinism but says that there is no free will. It does not allow for free will to exist because everything has a cause determined by these ambiguous external factors. This is what theologians call Incompatibilism. Determinism is therefore not compatible with free will. If incompatibilism is true and there is not such thing as free will then moral responsibility is left to the cosmos. The main criticism, or question, directed at incompatibilism is where does moral responsibility fit in? Moral responsibility is defined as what a thing has when it can be properly praised or blamed for something. If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Essay on Existentialism in Night Existentialism in Night In his essay Existentialism , Jean Paul Sartre discusses the main beliefs of existentialism. Perhaps the most important belief of existentialism is that there is no human nature, and there is no God. This means that each individual man has control of his own destiny. The definition of each individual man is the sum of his life and all he has accomplished in his life. He is also responsible for all the choices and actions he makes in his life. These types of choices and actions can be seen in the book Night by Elie Wiesel. This book is a story about a boy, Wiesel, who is taken to a concentration camp with his family. Sartre would call this existentialism. Wiesel took control of his own destiny and future, despite his father s wishes. He doesn t let his father s efforts discourage him. He begins to learn the cabbala, which is an existentialist decision since the main idea of existentialism is creating your own self. Another example of an existentialist decision occurs in the concentration camp of Buna, when a young boy is to be hanged with two adults. Many of the Oberkapos had little boys that they liked and had hang around for sexual purposes. Someone at the camp was suspected of blowing up the electric station, and eventually they found it to be the Dutch Oberkapo, and he was arrested. This Oberkapo had a little boy (not his son), and he would not say whether or not the man had done it, so they decided to hang him. Many of the men are thoroughly disturbed by the fact that the boy being hanged was so young. Many of the young boys grew meaner than some adults, but the Dutchman s little servant was loved by all. He had the face of a sad angel (60). The Lagerkapo who is supposed to do the hanging refuses, and SS officers have to step in and perform the execution. This Lagerkapo shows an existentialist decision because he takes control of his own life. He does not want his life to include the hanging of a small boy. There is also a small amount of irony in the essay through the idea of a taste testing going on, although it is not the pleasant experience of its connotation. The effect of this hilarity creates a stronger contrast between the subject of the essay and comedic tone of the writer. In using the different techniques of language, description and humor, the author effectively creates a bond with the reader, while at the same time informing and entertaining. At the core of this essay, Hodgman is looking at how we view not only our dog s processed and packaged food, but ours as well. Implied in the text are the questions regarding how well we take care of our pets and ourselves. Some people thought Napoleon was a reformer, while others thought he was an absolute dictator. One thing is for sure though, that he shaped France/Europe into the continent/country is is today. Napoleon was very narcissistic and cruel, and did not value humanlife. At the same time, he believed in education and instruction. Also, he positively influenced the schools and created the Napoleonic Code, which solved a lot of France s problems. Napoleon Bonaparte had a negative impact on France, because he mistreated the rights that every human should obtain, created a bad image for other countries, and only really cared about absolute power. Napoleon was born in Corsica, Italy and was entered directly into the Military, at age ten. Napoleon s leadership, and role as emperor, was heavily based around the fact that all of his childhood was being trained in the military! Some people view this in a negative light (seeing other people just as a target, and appreciating human life.) Some people on the other hand, view this in a positive light (Being a good instructor, and knowing how to make the right moves with politics.) During the French revolution the citizens of France tried to create a republic, and when they failed continuously, Napoleon Bonaparte stepped up and became a strong leader in France. • 21. Theme Of Love In La Belle Dame Sans Merci Bitter. Sweet. Tender. Love. This subjective idea may refer to a concept, a feeling, an attitude, an emotion, one could have towards another. Throughout history, one s perception on love may vary due to the ideology they were being indoctrinated with as well as their family background. Given that different historical periods may affect one s perception on their idea of love, an analysis on the poems La Belle Dame sans Merci by John Keats, My Last Duchess by Robert Browning, and Mother in a Refugee Camp by Chinua Achebe, will be made in order to examine and explore how poets living in different times present love in their own unique approach. When the knight and the woman was having a sexual intercourse, She looked at him as she did love, / And made sweet moan The declarative, she looked at him as she did love expresses the idea of unrequited love. The woman may have only decided upon having a sexual intercourse with him to favour his sexual desires, yet it does not represent that she has an affection for him. On the other hand an iambic tetrameter is also used in the same quotation as a motif of the knight s heartbeat, this represents the excitement and passionate emotions he has within the relationship and sexual intercourse. A sense of negativity can be seen in the line And made sweet moan , the iambic dimeter in this line has a foreboding effect to it, hinting that love between the woman and the knight will not last long. Likewise to La Belle Dame sans Merci , Keats short poem The day is gone, and all its sweets are gone! also signifies his role in the Romanticism movement by the reinforcement of his individual expression and obsessive nature towards his lover Fanny Brawne. This is evident when Keats display the sincere and direct emotions of himself in the title The day is gone, and all its sweets are gone! The dependent clause, and all its sweets are gone is a metaphor that the sweetness of their relationship has disappeared due to the distance between Keats and Brawne. This metaphor can be likened to La Belle Dame sans Merci through the knight s loneliness and sentimental emotions when he waits for the woman he loves. The intensifier all reinforces Keats desires to see Brawne, not seeing her for a day does not only signify the loss of sweetness, but also marking the end of his day. He is eager to see Brawne, and by not seeing her the sweetness of his day, the significance of his day has vanished, disappeared. This poem can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is not a specialized formula for building a successful corporation, so how has Enterprise developed such a powerful company with a strong reputation and loyal customers? Jack s character was shaped by his naval experiences as an officer and pilot where he learned the importance of honesty, hard work, dedication, collaboration, and doing things correctly, is the only way to succeed. After the war, Jack was a successful Cadillac salesperson at Lindburg Dealership in St. Louis Missouri, which gave him financial security and knowledge about the car industry. • 23. The Relationship Between Violent Crime And The Following... Literature Review Introduction This is a non exhaustive literature review of research published between 2006 and 2016. It relies primarily on peer reviewed literature published within the discipline of sociology, but also draws upon studies related in other disciplines such as criminology and psychology. The studies in this literature review focus on violent crime in the U.S. Many studies in this review discuss how some sociological variables can influence crime for better or for worse. This literature review will discuss the relationship between violent crime and the following five themes: race, religion, gender, income, and immigration. Race Violent crime has consistently been a significant issue throughout U.S. history, especially between racial and ethnic groups. As a country, we ve had to deal with violent crime dating back to slavery in the 1600 s, up unto today with issues such as police brutality against racial and ethnic minorities. Researchers have found that segregation between races within neighborhoods can have a heavy influence on violent crime (Hipp 2007; Krivo, Byron, Calder, Peterson, Browning, Kwon, Lee 2014), although not all literature had the same results. Three races that were used throughout the research were Blacks, Whites, and Latinos. Within racially segregated neighborhoods, those with a higher percentage of African Americans experience higher rates of violent crime (Hipp 2007). The same thing can also be said about Latinos. Among racially ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This lesson plan was designed to be a cross curriculum lesson about spiders that incorporates the following subject areas: Science, Language Arts, and Visual/Performance Arts. This lesson will be taught during the month of October after students have gained prior knowledge through an insectunit that was taught the month before. (b.) The content object that I used in this lesson was for students to be able to identify important information about spiders. I think that providing students with background knowledge prior (teaching a month long unit on insects) would assist students when it comes time to do a unit on spiders. I think that the most challenging aspect for this lesson would be the vocabulary words. The vocabulary list that I have complied varies in difficulty and I believe that some of the words would be more challenging to some of the students. I would ensure that these words were taught previously in the insect unit in order for students to become familiar with these words. I would also have prior knowledge of my student s abilities and provide individualized word lists that match the student s ability. In addition, I would stock the student library with a variety of books about spiders that contain the vocabulary words, and utilize various center activities to reinforce the lesson objectives for this unit. • 28. Symbolism In The Divine Comedy Every arrangement of words seems to be an understatement when mentioning the success and influence of Dante s epic poem The Divine Comedy. An allegory is a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one (Oxford Dictionary). The Divine Comedy has provided inspiration for a large body of Western Art. Originally published in the 14th century, his medieval poem written in the vernacular language of the people has been the material for countless numbers of new editions containing illustrations. Each artist finds their own clever way to express the messages in The Divine Comedy. The amount of art dedicated to this epic poem is just as impressive as the poem itself. Inferno appears to be the most popular of the three books, especially in the visual arts. Dante s is a visual imagination (T.S. Elliot). Extremely detailed, the book describes Hell in the most powerful visual terms. In the Inferno, Dante and the poet Virgil go to Hell where they witness the many punishments for those who disobeyed God during their lives. Each layer of Hell, described in thirty three cantos and one introductory canto, is unique and fitting for the soul and the specific sin that was committed. (Web Gallery of Art, 2017) The most accurate representation of the structure of Dante s Hell, Sandro Botticelli is responsible for The Map of Hell, which depicts the nine circles of Hell. Described as a cave, the Map of Hell on paper is in the shape of a funnel with layers. Each layer is a level of Hell described by Dante. The levels get smaller and smaller until, at the bottom of the cave or funnel one sees a satanic like beast at the bottom or core. Starting with Limbo and ending with Treachery, each layer is drawn out in magnifying detail. Sandro Botticelli was an Italian painter of the early Renaissance, the Florentine was alive from around 1445 to 1510 (Florence Inferno, 2017). The man responsible for The Birth of Venus, a masterpiece that is referred to in both historical context and in pop culture, he was a very decadent and detailed artist. It prompts readers to more closely analyze the subjects for underlying similarities. It can also add to depth to the piece and enhance the overall novelby making abstract concepts more digestible. During the monster s narration, the author utilizes a series of biblical allusions to express the monster s anguish and his relationship with Victor. While the monster identifies with Satan, he also points out, Satan had his companions, fellow devils, to admire and encourage him; but I am solitary and abhorred (Shelley 93). Satan is usually viewed as a miserable creature, because he was exiled from heaven and can no longer live in God s glory. The Pay Gap And Gender Discrimination Taylor Bruton Professor Kathy Dillion English 211 November 10, 2014 Abstract For this paper, my objective was to investigate the pay gap and gender discrimination in the workplace. Through systematic examination, this paper explores numerous factors correlating to the wage gap such as occupational choices and annual earnings. On average, women have lower income due to emphasis on familial responsibilities and desiring more accommodating work schedules than men. The wage gap primarily exists within same occupational fields. In these fields, women were often faced with the glass ceiling and unable to advance in higher positions because of their gender. Women also earned less pay since less likely to ask for promotions or higher wages. In short, gender shouldn t be a factor in measuring equal pay. Taylor Bruton Professor Kathy Dillion English 211 November 10, 2014 Mind the Wage Gap Throughout history, women have typically been undermined and denied the same equal rights as men. From the Equal Pay Act to the Paycheck Fairness Act, women have fought an uphill battle for their gender equality. If there is no respect for a leader, than how can one be a good leader? Beowulf s men cherished him and believed in him. They had his back for every choice he made. After Arthur decided to not accuse his wife of treason, some of his men betrayed and left him. Also, Beowulf had no gluttony and did not desire any gold or riches. He was generous and gave all to his people. For example, Beowulf admirably states, I sold my life/ For this treasure and I sold it well (l. 809 810). It shall be observed that voting turnouts are directly related to the attitude candidate have and the ways in which they make fellow citizens eager about their potential presidency, and the policies they plan on bringing to the country that are related to the general public. The first year of Presidential elections to be analyzed is that of 1988. Records show that in 1988, in which Dukakis and Bush were battling for the title of President, the turnout was even lower than the average expectation and only 91,594,686 people showed up to cast their vote. This figure concludes that 50.1 percent of people eligible to vote came to elect the president of their choice and the rest did not show interest. (Wright, 1995) As mentioned the 1988 election was not very successful in attaining the president of the choice of most American people because a very low number of people showed up to cast their vote. The low turnout can be explained through several reasons. First of all, it must be realized that Dukakis was a democratic candidate. It is well known that democrats usually attract the low socioeconomic population who are more likely to skip voting for reasons that are not political. However, those with higher socioeconomic statuses, who are less likely to skip elections, are generally in favor of Republican leaders. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Battery has been defined earlier when discussing his liability for J s injury, so although the elements from the criteria will not be repeated here it will still apply to this scenario. Both the act and immediate infliction can be dealt with together; in this case, the act of pulling the chair away was a positive act and was immediately inflicted since B. was about to sit down instantly, as a result of which he fell and injured his head. • 53. James Truslow Adams The American Dream James Truslow Adams in 1931 coined the term The American Dream in his book The Epic of America (Michels, n.d., para. 1). He wrote of an America that offered freedom of religion, and speech, as well as political and social opportunities that few other countries offered. However, according to Eva Michels, The American Dream means something different for each individual, it refers to the way of life that Americans strive for and have equal rights to achieve regardless of social class or nationality (n.d., para. 4). She goes on to write that for some this dream can mean opportunities and equality, while for others it can mean materialism and gained wealth (Michels, n.d., para. 6). On the other hand, there is a notion that The American Dream is free for the taking for anyone who desires wealth and freedom. Robert A.
