The Climate Vegetation and Fauna in Sweden
The climate, vegetation and fauna in Sweden are totally different from those in Asia, especially
different from Hong Kong. The reason is that the latitude and the region they lay on are really
distinct. These three factors are closely related, because climate will greatly affect the growing of
different vegetation and animal species.
Before talking about the climate of Sweden, it is important to know that Sweden is a country
located in the middle of Norway and the Baltic Sea. Many climate extremes are protected away
from Sweden due to the high mountains stand between the two countries. Sweden also has a much
milder climate than most other regions of the world that lie as far north because of the influence of
the Gulf Stream. However, a large range of temperatures is experienced throughout the whole
country. Basically, the country can be divided into three regions; central and southern Sweden, the
northeast, and the northwest, or far north to describe the climate in Sweden.
In central and Southern Sweden, it is the most densely populated and agriculturally productive part
of the country. Many parts of the region are low lying areas with numerous lakes. When compare to
the North, the winters are quite cold and shorter, while the summers are relatively warm. For
precipitation, most rain falls during summer and early autumn and there is rarely heavy rain. In
winter, precipitation mainly falls as snow.
In Northeastern Sweden, winters are severe. The northwardly they go, the

Bryson And Katz Summary
This quote, which can be found in chapter two, serves as the mapping of the relationship between
Bryson and Katz, who were previous travelling buddies. The dialogue between him and his
doubtful wife serve as flashbacks to when the two older friends had traveled to Europe for a
time, where they left mutually disgruntled and no longer friends. It gives the reader a look back
into the two to be hikers pasts with each other. It is obvious that Bryson still harbored some ill
feelings towards Katz, whether it be because the man was lazy or unlikable. In the beginning of
Bryson and Katz s journey up the Appalachian Trail, the two men quickly find out the physical toll
that the hike would take on them. While Bryson was bug eyed, and breathing hard

Human Culture Revealed In Daniel Quinn s Ishmael
Man lives life as though they are the ones to rule the Earth, instead of living as one with nature.
Daniel Quinn s Ishmael shows how man came to be this way, and why people should take a look
at the past to learn about the way people should live now. By comparing and contrasting controlling
culture and the thirst for knowledge between Ishmael and Planet of the Apes, it becomes clear that
man believes knowledge and power are the most important aspects of life.
One main argument Ishmael makes is that human culture is not based on humans as living beings
of Earth; it is based on them trying to be gods. The narrator says the reason for creation of man
went something like this, The world is for man... For nearly three million years he lived as ... Show

It sets them apart from all other creatures of the world; which is how the apes in Planet of the Apes
feel about knowledge over humans. The anthropomorphic race would never think that another
species could control them. After all, they expect exemption from the laws of nature. In the movie,
the main protagonist was originally from Earth, and explained their thirst for knowledge, You d
walk naked into a live volcano if you thought you could learn something no other man knew.
(Schaffner). Planet of the Apes is not so subtly saying the undying thirst for power in the form of
knowledge puts humans above all else, including gods. In the tale of Adam and Eve, Ishmael
explains to his student how foolish the want for knowledge can make a man, Wielding the
knowledge of good and evil, we have made ourselves the masters of the world, and the gods have no
power over us... isn t it sweeter to live in our own hands than in the hands of the gods? (Quinn,
164). Both texts agree that knowing things other races do not know makes them the more
intelligent, and in turn, the dominant species. In the movie, the main characters, Taylor and
Landon, automatically assume that they would run the planet in a short amount of time due to their
seemingly high intellect. However, when they meet the apes, they get caught, imprisoned, and
treated like animals. Since they were always taught humans are superior, they

Divine Nine Thesis
In the hollow halls of elite Cornell University, the germination of a transcending organization began.
Following suit around the county, in particular at Howard University, other transcending
organizations arose resulting in new ways of thinking, behavior and, connectivity for black
American progression. The fruit bore from these transcending organizations provided the core
leadership and game changers that shaped the twentieth century black experience. Such greats as
W.E.B Du Bose, Booker T. Washington, Ernest E. Just, Carter G. Woodson, James Weldon
Johnson, Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander, , Ruth Whitehead Whaley, Zora Neale Hurston, Charles
Hamilton Houston, Thurgood Marshall, A. Phillip Randolph, Martin Luther King, Adam Clayton
Powell, Jr., Coretta Scott King, Dorothy Height, Jesse Jackson, Andrew Young, and Barbara
Jordan, and Bobby Rush to name a small few. Undoubtedly, these men and women deserve the
highest of praise and thanks for their courage and sacrifice. They have been the propellers behind
black America s progression the last one hundred years. And they all are affiliated with of what has
been coined in recent times as the Dive Nine. The Divine Nine is comprised of international

Christian Beliefs Of The World
Charlemagne, was a man raised on Christian beliefs who spent his life waging war on those who
were not Christian. Conquered peoples were forced to accept Christianity as their fate or face exile
and/or death. This manner of conversion to Christian beliefs completely goes against the teachings
of his beloved bible. The hypocrisy of these acts bring one to question his true motivations. Was he
really trying to spread Christianityor was he simply using his Christian crusade as a means to
expand his territories using the support of the pope and the Papal States claiming protector?
Charlemagne
Charlemagne, Charles the Great, Carlos Magnus, Karl der Grosse, the eldest son of Pepin III, was
born April 2, 0742 probably in Aachen, Austrasia (now Germany) (Winston, 2015). He was raised
in an environment of change from the Franks primarily pagan worship lifestyle to one of Christian
beliefs with strong family ties to the popes and missionaries of the times. His great grandfather
Clovis, had converted to Christianity under the influence of his Christian wife, and his reign began
the family s relationship with the Christian Church (Winston, 2015). Primarily educated by his
mother and the monks of Saint Denis in his youth, he spent a great deal of his adult life studying
grammar, astronomy, music and the bible (Graves, 2016). History books barely begin to touch on
his love of education and all manners of learning. He was also quite the outdoorsman and

Personal Statement On Self Confidence
learnt at university, to plan out my vision before expressing it. This will help others buy in to
my vision. To do this, I will need to improve my self confidence. Self confidence is an important
characteristic of successful leaders. Cavallo and Brienza (2006) explain that self confidence
assists in the imaging process. Having self confidence not only helps, when and how well you
explain your vision, but, can help in developing an advanced vision (Sosik Dinger, 2007). Sosik
and Dinger (2007) state that confident leaders are able to portray their idea in a way that
facilitates trust, necessary for implementation. This is something that I have always struggled
with, I have always doubted my ability and skills. This makes me shy a way of sharing ideas and
for fighting for them. On placement, I would often use language that was discouraging of
myself as a social work practitioner and my skill set. My supervisor stated, that I need to be
more confident in what I bring to the organization. From this, I realized as a future practitioner
near my final stages of my degree, self confidence is a characteristic that I need to really further
develop. This is because, there is a need as a professional, to be confident in my own practice, in
order for my future clients and colleagues to trust in my ability. According to Adams and Adams
(2008) there is a perception of power that clients feel. This perception, is that they assume that the
worker in authority are competent. Thus, if I

have curved beaks. Most parrots eat, seeds, fruit, flowers, nuts, buds, and some small creatures
such as insects. I would want to be a parrot so I could fly around, and look at all the unique

Homeless Man Story
On the busy street of New York, Bryan was walking in the rain. The dilapidated black suit and
jeans were splattered by dirt. He looked like a beggar; in fact, he was a businessman, mediocre but
fulfilled. Unfortunately, everything changed after that incident. From a devoted father and
husband, he became a homeless man with no accompaniment.
The money in his bank account could support him temporarily but not for long. He needed help,
but no one was there to even calm him down. Every night, he goes back to his rented dark room
with bare hands holding a piece of bread. Lying on his straw bed, memories of his family and
children flash through his brain; no more family times and laughs. That explosion had destroyed
all of the happiness. A man doesn t cry easily, but he cannot hold his tears anymore. For the whole
night, he dreams about his family and cries as the sweet memory slowly lapses.
For sake, he tried to live on, but his condition made it very hard. He had send resumes to variety of
companies, using the computers in a public library. Then he waited and waited, but none of the
companies responded to him. In the meantime he was waiting, he phoned almost everyone he knew,
including his customers, for economic support. The results were the same; no one had gave any

Citizens United V. Federal Election Commission
Money is a form of payment in America, money has little to much value. It can be seen as a coin
or as paper, which has been issued legally by the government. Money can be used in exchange for
certain things a person or group desires. With money in peoples hands, it can drive them to make
certain decisions with much power. People in politics use a form of money to pay for their beliefs
in the United Statesof America. For many years, elections have been organized based on privately
funded campaigns. When a candidate is running for presidency it becomes very expensive and
difficult to manage on their own. Therefore if the candidate is wealthy, their campaign is set to go
and continue. If the candidate needs financial assistance in order to... Show more content on

The case Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission was to regulate the spendings of
candidates campaign, but it failed to succeed. The Supreme Court ruled 5 4 in the case of Citizens
United v. Federal Election Commission. (Bentley, 2017) The case was ruled in favor of big
business donating private funds to campaigns. They argued because the first amendment protects
the right to speak of many corporations and unions, whether or not people see them as human,
therefore the are aloud to donate money to a candidate. (Bentley, 2017) In the academic journal
written by Bentley, he States the Court majority (Justices Kennedy, Roberts, Alito, Scalia, and
Thomas) argued, although government has the authority to prevent corruption or the appearance of
corruption, it has no place in determining whether large political expenditures are either of those
things, so it may not impose spending limits on that basis. This meaning the government cannot
enforce spending limits on private donors due to the government not being able to identify the big
businesses as corrupted . Since the government cannot label an organization as corrupt or unjust,
therefore the donor can continue to assist the candidate. The main problem is the United States of
America seems to avoid this. There is a clear problem with Citizens United being able to continue
donating money to candidates without giving them so much power. This can be stopped through a
constitutional amendment to strip away the corporations of their rights. (Bentley, 2017) By doing
this, there will be a very successful campaign for future candidates due to there being an equal
amount of money being distributed to them

sort or organization in their life. Most people do not and that is why so many people in the world
are always so stressed out. If you follow steps to make things neater, you can organize your life.
My room is definitely a reflection of my life. I have bright pink walls, like my personality. Also, my
room is super clean. I like to think that my life is clean. In fact, every time I go in my room I pick
something up or move it around. I have a lot of stuff. There are a few pieces of furniture and
tons of clothes and junk. First off, I have a double sized bed in the corner of my room. There are
always different colored blankets and tons of pillows and stuffed animals lying around on it.
Next to my bed I have a huge bookshelf. It is wood and has doors. On the other side of my room
there is a big wooden dresser. It has drawers, shelves and a large mirror. By my door there is a
small white shelf. It has three shelves with baskets on each. Lastly, I have a big wooden desk at
the end of my bed. Not to mention my closet with a built in shelf and shoe holder. In all of these

Moving-Average Temperature Equations
It is difficult to apply any meaning to this variability from the moving average temperature but
someone could make reasonable assumptions about why this difference in variability exists. One
such assumption could be because you cannot give the entire globe a single temperature. It is,
naturally, an aggregation of many localized temperatures, which must be averaged or at least used
to calculate a median to negate the effect of outliers. The aggregated global calculation inherently
smooths out the impacts of localized variances on the variability of the overall global value.

These are each representing the best possible fit trend line for each data set, which means this is
the best possible r2 achievable by any other possible trend line. Given these values, we can be
reasonably certain that the regression model represented by the trend line better fits the global
temperature data than the model for the Seattle temperature data. This matches the observation
we can see in the graph of greater dips and rises in the line representing the data set. It is
reasonable to assume that, with more data, we may be more likely to see a change in the
direction of the trend line for Seattle (at only 68% fit) than we would for the global trend line.
This may affect data trends regarding how Seattle warms in relation to the rest of the globe.
Observation Summary: We should continue to collect data over time in order to see if a better fit
emerges and the trend line changes. Aggregated Interpretation of

Benefits And Downfalls Of The United States
I. INTRODUCTION
Technology is an essential part of human development, but with technological advancements we
can see our lives being changed every single day. In Sao Paulo, technology is on the rise and is
slowly catching up with the United States and other countries that are quickly developing. With a
generation of kids in the United States that have connection to anything at their fingertips, we can
notice that our perspectives and modalities are always adapting. America has developed wireless
technologies that transfer data with broadband and wireless devices. Streaming services such as
Pandora, Spotify, ITunes radio, Pandora, Google Play, and Beats Music have provided users with
applications to stream music daily. Phone carriers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The data transfer rate is very important because it regulates our devices and technologies we use. In
general, the data transfer rate reflects changes and improvements in digital technologies, where
newer systems, such as solid state electronics, have resulted in much higher data transfer rates
within only a few decades. Often, people mistake transfer rate with broadband, nevertheless, they
are two different things working in slightly different ways.
Transfer rate looks at the amount of data that has actually been transferred between two different
points, while bandwidth is a measurement of the theoretical maximum transfer capacity of a
certain point on a network. With all this data flowing freely, there has to be some sort of
restriction on how fast different applications are. This is where net neutrality comes into play. For
example, online streaming effectively requires your computer to download a new image once
every fraction of a second. This takes up much more data than sending a simple email or using a
simple application. The result of this is that organizations and bigger users have to buy high
performance networks to maximize rates. Companies such as T Mobile have released unlimited
data plans with no cap on, and this has been causing waves throughout the industry. They have been
attempting to gain market share with companies like AT T and Verizon. Now, they offer to pay out
the contract fees of customers who switch over. T Mobile may not be favoring one

Are Men Known Scientificly To Be Funnier Than Women
Are men known scientifically to be funnier than women or is it just another stereotype? In the

traditionally a maledominated field, and men s online dating profiles are comedic. He then
rebuttals that argument by explaining in Peter McGraw s class, his students had a joke writing
competition and based on a survey the men won but only to a small degree. He explains men s
jokes are offensive and distasteful and the highest rated joke was written by a woman, thus woman

The Mystery Mixture And The Mystery Mixture
Introduction:
When faced with a problem a good scientist will use experiments, notes, debates, and more to their
advantage to solve the tough questions. A groups of scientists did just that when faced with a
problem of their own. A tiny vial with a white powdery substance in it was put in front of them, and
they needed to find out what was in it! Faced with nine possible ingredients in the Mystery mixture,
a well tray, a water dropper, and a toothpick, these scientists were a little overwhelmed, but
determined. One of the first things they did was look at the substance and compare it to their own
mixtures, using experiments or chemical properties. Chemical properties are a chemical s reaction
to another or more substances, and a change in it s identity. When they observed the chemicals the
students were using physical properties, or observing the chemical s smell, texture, color,
appearance, size, and shape. They believe Baking Soda and Citric acid are in the Mystery Mixture.

Motown was, and still is an iconic place that has helped shape music and civil rights in Detroit

SST Anomalies Essay
In the statistical detection of re emergence (section 4.2.1), it was indicated that recurrence of
SST anomalies is observed not only in the mid latitudes but also in the tropical ocean. In
particular, the south western tropical Pacific ocean shows a significant sign of SST anomaly
recurrence. The seasonal variability of MLD is the dominant dynamical process that controls the
re emergence in the midlatitudes. However, this shouldn t be the case in the tropical region
because the amplitude of the seasonal variability of the MLD is small (Pookkandy et al 2016). So
mixed layer dynamics are not directly involved in the observed recurrence of SST anomalies in the
tropical ocean. The question arises: what then is the cause of the re emergence of... Show more

Initial temperature and salinity fields are from the WOA2009 climatology data at 40 vertical
levels in 165E and 6S. The integrated surface temperature fields are restored with a damping
coefficient of 30 Wm 2K 1, along with the flux correction to match the spectral variance and
standard deviation of SSTs to those observed (figures are not shown). Since the ML in this
region is relatively shallow, and to avoid seasonal variability in the ML induced by the model
physics, we ran the experiment with a 10m prescribed MLD. Figure 4.15 shows the auto
correlation of SST anomalies during the cold season for both the Control and 10m constant
MLD experiments. Significant signals of re emergence as in the observations (Figure 4.14) do
not occur in either of the cases. One has to keep in mind that the generated stochastic atmospheric
forces do not show the re appearing pattern seen in the observations. Hence, we couldn t
reproduce the re emergence signal in our control simulation. In the next experiment, we ran the
model with a generated AR 1 atmospheric heat flux with recurring patterns in May Jun July

months in alternate decades until the model had run 500 years, so that it produces repeating
positive anomalies continuously for 10 years and negative anomalies in the following 10 years.

Gender Roles Of Odysseus And Penelope In Homer s Odyssey
Traditional gender roles unfortunately remain an influential part of society today. In some parts of
the world, it is illegal for women to do anything without the permission or sometimes even
accompaniment of a male guardian. While it is true that the world has made considerable progress
in eliminating gender stereotypes overall, there is much work that has yet to be done, and people
must continue to strive for equality in order to eliminate unhealthy relationships like that of
Odysseusand Penelopein Homer s Odyssey. The epic poem explores Odysseus unnecessarily long
journey home after helping Greece win the Trojan War while his wife Penelope waits for him in
Ithaca. The contrast between Penelope s faithfulness at home and how Odysseus often strays from
his path of return, in many cases by being unfaithful to his wife, highlights the traditional
expectations set for men and women during this time and how differently they are supposed to
behave.
Odysseus yearning for adventure spurs him to explore the many places he encounters without

Situational Irony In Ransom Of Red Chief
What if someone told you that if you kidnap this child, a lot of money would be given to you?
The catch is: after you kidnap the child, that same person would tell you he has no money, so no
ransom would be paid. In O. Henry s Ransom of Red Chief , this is precisely what happened.
Two kidnappers, Sam, the narrator, and Bill Driscol, decide to kidnap the only child of Ebenezer
Dorset, a money tight wealthy man who is highly respected in the small town of Summit. How the
ransom is paid; however, is quite unexpected. O. Henry uses verbal and situational ironyto design
humor and advance the theme of not everything is as it seems and taking shortcuts in life. Situation
irony is when unexpected action occur. This type of irony is used many... Show more content on

If this was a realistic story, Ebenezer Dorset should have paid the kidnappers instead of the other
way around. As in the last paragraph, Dorset wrote, You bring Johnny home and pay me two
hundred and fifty dollars in cash, and I agree to take him off your hands. (Henry 591) What
Dorset is implying is that the kidnappers should pay the ransom to bring the child back. And the
ironic and funny thing is; they do! Sam and Bill are so fed up with Red Chief they pay Dorset to
give him back, as it says on page 593, Just at the moment when I should have been abstracting the
fifteen hundred dollars from the box under the tree, according to the original proposition, bill
was counting out two hundred and fifty dollars into Dorset s hand. (Henry 593) This is very
amusing to the readers because the kidnappers are paying the victim s father. It s like a baby sitter
paying the parents of the child they just baby sat. This irony also supports the theme of short cuts.
Sam and Bill wanted to take a short cut by kidnapping to get money, and at the end of it all, they
lost even more money than they originally

History Encompasses More Than Merely Events That Occurred
History encompasses more than merely events that occurred in the past. History is about;
understanding how people felt, how they lived and how certain events shaped the society they lived
in. The truth is, today s society only knows bits and pieces of history because most of the history
that s known is often misinterpreted, or misconstrued due to the lack of evidence that has survived,
or the over abundance of information that is present. Other times, historymight be misinterpreted
because historians try to fill in the blanks with information. For example, Christopher Columbus is
heralded as the founder of North America; however, it has been proven that there were other
explorers that discovered North America first; years before... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By reading the diary, you are essentially transported back in time; as though you were walking in
that person s shoes. Even though history is a very interesting area of study there are many different
ways of interpreting it.
The problem with studying history is that it s very hard to accurately say that things occurred a
certain way. World War II ended yes, but who played the bigger role in its conclusion? Depending
on where you are, people would answer the question differently. If you were Russian you would
say the Russians played the bigger role in ending World War II, however, if you were an American,
you might say otherwise. In all, history is only as accurate as the interpretation of the given
evidence, and even then there might be misconceptions.
The epistemological fragility of history makes certain aspects of history hard to interpret and
understand and therefore, it s hard to put together a complete picture. An example of this
phenomenon involves the massacre that occurred in Almo, Idaho in 1861. The massacre served as
a collective identity for the people of the town because it was a reminder of the struggle that the
settlers went through to ensure the survival of themselves, as well as their families. (Maybe add
something here?) Oftentimes, people study history because they want to know where they came
from. A collective

Mass Extermination Research Paper
What can the human race do to ensure that another mass extermination never happens again? That
depends the human race being united to fight it. All cultures have distinguished people into
categories of us and them : ethnicity, race, religion, nationality. We don t see ourselves as one
people, but as multiple peoples defending ourselves against others. We don t see other races as
humanbeings, either. Because we grow up and live apart from other cultures and languages, we see
other human beings unlike us as peculiar to ourselves dehumanizing them. We create imaginary
borders around our own kind and shut out other groups. If we, as one human race, overcame these
boundaries, then the extermination of large groups of people would cease. Another

The Air Force does not have the proper number of funds for the Air Force to maintain its active
aircraft. As I stated previously. Many of the active aircraft are old and no longer in production.
Many of the old aircraft need a lot of maintenance. Thus rely on many of the retired air craft for
broken parts. Congress needs to be able to loosen their wallet and propose more money into the
military. The military in general needs the funds to be able to invest in new reliable and more
cost efficient air craft. Instead of relying on our old aircraft. Col. Gentry Boswell, commander of
the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth stated that, the B 1 has evolved into a close air support
bomber. Flying for 10 12 hours at a time high above the battlefield, B 1 s can carry 50,000
pounds of weapons, mostly satellite guided bombs, but only half of these supersonic bombers
can actually fly right now. Being able to maintain and keep are aircraft in the air are vital. Many

Kat injures himself in the leg but dies from a splinter in his head to show that something
unexpected is bound to happen. Injuries are inevitable when fighting in a war. During World War I
,
if a soldier is injured, there was a high chance that he/she would get the anaerobes that cause
tetanus and gangrene because there was a scarce amount of supplies and by the time a doctor
would try to heal the injury, it was possible that the soldier could already be dead or it would be

Detecting The Properties Of The Planets

Observing distant starrequires the use of the space telescope like the Kepler telescope and spitzer

If you know the planets orbital speed and orbital period, we can work out the orbital radius. The
mass of the planet can also determine by the wobble method. As the planet orbit the sun,
gravitational pull of the planet makes the star wobble, changing the sun velocity. This change of
velocity can be detected by astronomical spectroscopy using redshift and blueshift. When the star
wobble closer to us, the star emits higher frequencies, longer wavelength, and showing bluer colour
when detecting to a spectroscope. When the star wobble away to us, the star emits lower
frequencies, shorter wavelength, and showing reddish colour in the spectroscope. How the planet
change the velocity of the sun determine the planet mass as gravitational pull of the planet depends
on the mass of the planet. This transit can also give the astronomer the estimated linear diameter of
the planet. When you know the star size, you can work out the size ratio of the planet and the star
when the planet transit the star. As I mentioned before, knowing the linear diameter of the planet
gives the astronomers the volume of the planet and volume of the planet and its mass determine the
density of the planets.

September 11th Attack Case Study
The perception of the intelligence community prior to the September 11th attacks was basically
there was virtually no homeland security intelligence , per se. The intelligence arena almost solely
focused on activity outside the United States in an effort to keep terrorism from entering the
borders. The intelligence and collection that was conducted inside the borders was done from a
criminal aspect. This was executed by law enforcement agencies in an effort to keep criminals off
the streets. The problem with this was there was no focus on terrorism or counterterrorism at this
time. During this time, there was no communication between the actual intelligence agencies and
any law enforcement agencies. There was a number of reasons that these types of agencies did not
share the information they obtained. However, these reasons hindered the information that needed
to be put out that enabled others to execute their jobs correctly. Some have contended that this lack
of information sharing placed barriers to gathering all the information to uncover plots (Best, 2003).

security thought about an aircraft of this size being purposely flew into the Twin Towers. Security

Mitchell And Trenchard s Influence On The Development Of...
National security requirements exercised the most significant influence on the development of
airpower in Europe and the United States before the Second World War (WWII), because nations
on both sides of the Ocean had to cope with the multifaceted disastrous results of World War I
(WWI) and airpower seemed to be the answer for future wars. Primarily, understanding the context
and consequences of WWI is vital to apprehend airpower theorist like Douhet, Mitchell and
Trenchard and their revolutionary thoughts on airpower. The development of aircraft in the at the
beginning of the twentieth century challenged not only military leadership but national security of
modern states. The basic question was: How will aerial bombing of enemy territory fit... Show more

He was mainly influenced by the ideas of airpower from the Italian General Douhet. Likewise, he
postulated the potency of airpower and considered as the most decisive element in future wars.
Further, he argued, that airpower would make Army and Naval forces almost superfluous. The
United States, other than Great Britain, had a different perspective of its geopolitical situation.
Because of the two Oceans on either side of their country, felt they could afford to be more
complacent about developments in aviation. Although General Mitchell was a strong proponent for
strategic bombing American airmen had a more distant perspective on bomber aircraft and the use
in future wars. But, both, British and American airpower theorist believed that bombers are an
offensive weapon. According to the American national security guideline bomber aircraft,
especially shortly after WWI, would be employed as a defensive weapon. Mitchell argued, that
airpower, by making wars shorter, would offer a way around the stalemate and slaughter seen in the
Great war. This clearly underpins how Mitchell visualized and enforced national security
requirements. Similar to the British reaction to the rise of Nazi Germany during the mid 1930s,
Congress endorsed increasing expenditures for the US Army Air Corps: From 30 million in 1935
to over 83 million in 1939. Additionally, key actors

Potential Of Microbial Fuel Cells
Potential of Microbial Fuel Cells
A microbial fuel cell (MFC) is a device that converts chemical energy to electrical energy by the
catalytic and metabolic reactions of microorganisms. The microorganisms function as a catalyst in
the electron transfer between the electrodes. A MFC is just like any other fuel cell in its function
which can undergo a half cell reaction. A typical microbial fuel cell consists of anode and cathode
compartments separated by a cation (positively charged ion) permitting specific membrane. At the
anode, the organic matter or substrate is oxidized by microorganisms, generating CO2, electrons
and protons. Electrons are transferred to the cathode through an external electric circuit, while
protons are transferred to the cathode through the membrane. Electrons and protons react in the
cathode, combining with oxygen to form water.
A simple REDOX reaction takes place in the fuel cell. The rate of the reactions can depend on the
internal resistance, bacteria, substrate, semi permeable membrane and electrode configuration. The
basic reactions that occur when microorganisms consume a substrate such as sugar in the presence
of O2 they produce CO2 and H2O. But, when oxygen is not present they produce CO2, H+ and e .

Women Should Have 3D Mammograms
Standard Number; 6.4.D
Technology has changed drastically over the last several decades; for instance, telephones have
gone from rotary style with party lines to individual wireless phones the size of your palm.
Similarly, mammograms have gone through a transformation due to technological advances. In the
past, mammograms were performed by compressing breast tissue, and a series of 2D pictures were
taken. This process took a long time and was very painful and uncomfortable. This made many
women reluctant to go through the process of mammography; however, in the last few years, a new
form of mammography has been evolving with new technology. The old 2D mammography has
been updated to the new style of 3D ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, invasive tumors that may not be detected by regular mammograms are detectable by
3D mammography ( 3D Mammograms ). The one size fits all mammography testing and
guidelines have changed over the years due to the fact that there are differences in the size and
density of breasts. The detection rates of lumps and suspicious tissues in the breast area have also
risen with the 3D mammography. This is why it is important to have a 3D mammography along
with a standard digital mammography ( 3DMammography )
The second reason men and women should have a 3D mammography is the clearer picture that
is produced. It allows a doctor to see lumps and cancerous tissues that would be otherwise hidden
on the standard mammography because the breast tissues are compressed, which creates
overlapping sections of breast tissue. The standard 2D mammography is not able to see what is
in the depths of the overlapping tissues as it uses only two directions to take each picture in the
series of pictures ( Digital ). 3D mammography is a new kind of testing, which eliminates
multiple x rays of the breast area as it uses an x ray tube that takes eleven pictures in seven
seconds while moving in an arc around the breast, and creating a 3D image ( Digital ). 3D
mammograms will show if there is any type of small lump. It can detect the cancerous cells and
lumps better as result of better imaging and with less pressure than a

including the Booker Prize, Arthur C. Clarke Award, the Governor General s Award, etc. In Violent
Duality: A Study of Margaret Atwood, Sherrill Grace wrote that Atwood s works are the pull

always been well aware of her subjects irrespective of its genderor type and thus always worked

presented through separation, says The Art of Margaret Atwood: Essays in Criticism. Atwood s
work beautifully elaborated the idea of alienation and the need for human communication. She tries
to draw the attention of the audience towards the need of a balanced society or a communicating

Analysis Of The Book Hedda Gabler Essay
Dark Victory: Hedda s Triumph Through Suicide.
What is most often thought of when the word woman comes to mind? Kind? Feminine?
Submissive? These adjectives often come to mind. Humans have placed stereotypes on woman
and have placed them second fiddle to man. And so powerful and masculine would never be
acceptable to call a woman? Henrik Ibsen s, Hedda Gabler, is just this case. Hedda, the main
character of the story, is the exact opposite of what women are thought to be. She is cold,
emotionless, and some would say she shows a degree of masculinity. She is a woman who s

conquest of power ultimately ends with her being pregnant with her tool of a husband s child
and sexual servitude to a lustful Judge Brack, through black mail of LГёvborgs death at the

to do the boldest measure ever for a woman, suicide. She escaped through death and avoided Brack

victory.
Henriks Ibsen s play Hedda Gabler is one of a woman on a quest of power. Hedda being a woman

The Midwestern Crime Wave Essay
The Midwestern Crime Wave All across the nation during the Great Depression people were
jobless, homeless, and starving; nowhere was this truer than in the American Midwest. Not only
did the farms and cities of the Midwest have to deal with the poor economic conditions but the
Midwest s main source of income, agriculture, was being ravaged by the natural phenomenon now
called the Dust Bowl. On top of low crop prices and a lack of employment farmland was ruined,
went unplanted, and was often foreclosed on. These extra difficulties left the inhabitants of the
Midwest with added resentments and frustration with businesses and government that seemed
unable or unwilling to help. Out of this extreme hardship came a group of people who for... Show

This in turn made the public feel that those robbing banks and kidnapping the rich were striking
out for the poor against the wealthy. With the masses on their side these outlaws had many
supporters among the American public. Claire Potter described the difficulty police had in
obtaining information on gangsters from everyday citizens. She wrote about police who were
questioning a witness whose only answer was to ask why we do not put all the bankers in jail
who stole the people s money? (147) On top of this, the gangsters also offered some sensation and
drama to the people of the Great Depression. Since fulfilling one s basic needs was so difficult the
public had little time or money for recreational activities. The stories of the wild shootouts and
daring holdups then gave the public something to talk about offering a little escape from the
difficulty if their daily lives. These two aspects allowed gangsters to make many friends and find
support easily while trying to elude authorities. Armed robbery and kidnapping were the specialty
of those that participated in the Midwestern crime wave. These crimes are what made men and
women like Machine Gun Kelly, John Dillinger, Bonnie Parker, and Clyde Barrow famous. They
may all had their start in petty crime, such as stealing cars or bootlegging, but the outlaws who
seemed to gain notoriety all graduated past these crimes quickly. According to one Dillinger
biography he got his start in the sixth grade with a

Hausa Culture Summary
Culture Summary for Hausa The Hausa, the largest ethnic group in West Africa, are
concentrated in northern Nigeria and adjacent Niger. The Hausa have evolved from many years
of incorporation of different peoples. They share a common religion, Islam, and a common
language. The Hausa are organized into centralized kingdoms, known as emirates and they live
in hamlets, towns, and cities. The Hausa constitute the largest ethnic group in West Africa. The
term Hausa actually refers to the language and, by extension, to its native speakers, of whom
there are about 25 million. The Hausa are scattered across the savanna of northern Nigeria, the
adjacent area of Niger, and, as a result of extensive migration, in enclaves in various African
cities as far south as the Atlantic coast. The focal homeland covers an area about 640 kilometers
wide, from Lake Chad to the east to the Niger River in the west. It extends from about 11 degrees
to 14 degrees north latitude and from about 2 degrees to 14 degrees east longitude. The annual
rainfall ranges from about 50 centimeters in the north to 100 centimeters in the south Agriculture is
the main economic activity. Grain is the staple diet, including Guinea corn, millet, maize, and rice.
The Hausa also grow and eat root crops and a variety of vegetables. Cotton and peanuts are
processed and used locally, but part of the harvest is exported. The Hausa practice intercropping and
double cropping; their main implement is the hoe. The Cattle Fulani

The Causes Of Racial Tensions In WWII
Racial Tensions in America WWII America has always been a place of great racial tensions.
From colonial times to the present day, The United States has always been racially contested.
However, in the onslaught of WWII these tensions reached new levels and different levels.
Americans came to fear the Japanese, Japanese Americans, and Mexican Americans. While
many believed that these racially based fears were unjustified, due to the racial ideas already in
place, the violence and aggression that occurred during the war, propaganda, and the
government s actions, these fears were not as unrealistic as they may appear today. During the
time leading up to the onslaught of the Second World War, the Japanese had never been
considered much of a threat on the international stage. The Japanese had stayed unindustrialized
and rather primitive until this time. As far as White Europeans were concerned the Japanese
were little men . They were not at all anywhere near comparable to the sophisticated and racially,
economically, morally, and physically superior Whites of the Western Hemisphere (Dower 173).
However, Japanese violence quickly caused these ideas of weak and harmless Japanese to fade
away. On December 7, 1941 , the Japanese military attacked Pearl Harbor, and continued to have
victories in Malaysia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Wake and Midway Island soon after (Gorn
202) Theses victories revealed the power and violence the Japanese were capable of. The

Analyzing Capital Punishment
CAPITAL PUNISHMENT In this paper I m going to talk about Capital Punishment and the
numerous ideas, thoughts, views and opinions people have about it and how they feel about this
type of punishment. There are people who see capital punishment as morally wrong and committing
a murder or on the side of the spectrum people see it as the right thing to do and believe that the
individual receiving the punishment deserves it. I will also talk about how capital punishmentcan be
used as a deterrent and make individuals second guess the decision they want to make and this
may very well be a consequence of their actions. Another thing I will look at and talk about is how
people have been falsely accused and sentenced to death or are currently sitting on death row. Also
the technology and resources that are available today are so precise and extremely effective that
to falsely convict someone is extremely slim and not common at all. There are numerous types
of methods used to commit capital punishment and I will take a look at them and discuss them
and look at some of them are inhumane and cruel. The process of getting on death row and
eventually getting put to death is a very long and tedious one and it takes years to happen. I will
discuss how people can make appeals, try and have their case heard again and to try and get off
death row even though at times it isn t successful at all. I will also discuss the states that still
practice capital punishment and what states have outlawed

Relationship Between Elia Kazan And Arthur Miller
The claim of this essay is about the complicated relationship between Elia Kazan and Arthur
Miller If someone was asked to give information about the Red Scare they had to be truthful in
the court. Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible, and Elia Kazan was a film director. Kazan made a
film On the Waterfront he wanted to combine the two recent films together. It was a story about
a man and his friend, Kazan wanted to take part in his own play as the leading role. It was one of
the top rated film of its time after watching it people could have changed their whole aspect of
how they looked at the film. Arthur Miller was born on October 17, 1915 in New York City.
Arthur wrote several screenplays and was noted for his work on The Misfits. Elia Kazanwas born in
Turkey on September 7, 1909 him and his parents later moved to the United States.
In this moment no one was close to film director Kazan, he has filmed/produced 2 of Arthur s
plays. Miller came with the idea to write the play about The Crucible and he wanted Elia to help
him on it. (columbia.edu)
When Miller and Kazan started working on the film, they got really close. They even shared
Marilyn Monroe. They worked together on other plays as in The Hook and After the Fall. The
Red Scars started to repeat history again. Later on, Miller, the author of the Crucible, decided to
write the play after he heard what Kazan had to say. The relationship between Kazan and Miller
was good at first. (telegraph.co.uk)
Miller had a better connection with Marilyn then Kazan and all he thought was that Marilyn
would never be successful in her career in wanting to be an actress. Arthur Miller fell in love
with Marilyn. Monroe was actually the one to thank for the two s infamous decisions . All three
of them were at a party when Marilyn forced the two men to shake hands. After they got over their
differences they were once again inseparable. They could have continued working together in the
future, but it would have been hard for them to do so because they kept getting bashed for
everything they did. Marilyn and Arthur did everything together and they soon got married on July
29, 1956. Their relationship lasted about five years, it says they got a divorce bc their

Character Analysis Of The Count Of Monte Cristo
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas is a novel about a dashing young hero, Edmond
DantГЁs. The tragic hero, is, however, betrayed by his enemies and thrown in prison doomed there
for the rest of his life. Edmond assumes many personas throughout the novel, each corresponding to
fit the dramatic situation he is in. DantГЁs assumes the personas: The Count of Monte Cristo, Abbe
Busoni, and himself (Edmond DantГЁs). The Count describes himself as an avenging angel who
is also the default persona of DantГЁs for the entire novel. Abbe Busoni, an Italian priest, is much
like the Count within the lines of avenging the wrongs committed against him but used to gain trust
from his religious stance. DantГЁs is described as a young, kind, and innocent man anticipating
getting married to the love of his life, but after spending 14 years in prison, he is a bitter and
vengeful man. Despite the differences between each persona, all three combines to create one
person, the older DantГЁs.
All that was ever on the young man s mind, was getting married to his fiancГ© Mercedes. The
two were terribly in love with each other only to be broken up by DantГЁs arrest. When told of
his false conviction, he didn t show a hateful glare in his demeanor, the young man was so candid
and open, so full of affection for his fellow man, including even his stern judge, that it seemed to
Villefort that each word he spoke was a proof of his innocence. The innocence DantГЁs exudes
makes obvious of his lack of

Our Safeguards Against Cyberterrorism And What We Can Do...
Nathaniel Howard
COMS 3053
Paper #1
Our Safeguards against Cyberterrorism In reality, attacks in cyber space happen all the time.
Over 20 million cyber attacks happened within Utah in 2013 each day, and this was from Utah s
government websites, not including businesses. ( Fortis Blog ) Just imagine the various ways one
could hack a website. Someone can even look up how to do it nowadays, and with at least half of
the population in the U.S. using a computer, there are an untold number of people who use hack
from inside the country. There are also those who hack from outside the country, and that is at least
enough to accumulate up to 20 million attacks a day. Unfortunately, there are fewer ways to secure
ourselves from these attacks, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as a hacker can get information from any citizen in the world, a cyber terrorist can get
information from any government. The methods used to block these attacks could also be similar,
even though there might be a few select methods tailored to each.
Why do we need safeguards?
As it was stated earlier, attacks happen every day, probably too many to count, and the need to
secure our systems grows exponentially every day. New systems, devices, programs, etc., are
being developed, and the current growth of technology is quite staggering. We also give our
information online in order to use several services, such as Facebook and Amazon. This
information can be used against us, and used to find other pieces of personal information, such as a
social security number. The concern to guard our technology was present before some of us were
even born. For example, in 1982, the CIA created the logic bomb to disrupt a pipeline in Siberia,
which opened up a new tool for hackers ( 25 Biggest Cyber Attacks, 2013). In 2007, the email
address belonging to the Secretary of Defense was hacked as part of a spree to exploit
weaknesses at the Pentagon ( history of cyber attacks ). Even a high ranking official s email
address wasn t safe from cyberterrorists. This information alone should scare some people into
making cyber security the top of their worry list. Everyone s information is always at risk.
How can we be attacked?

The Causes And Effects Of Gangs In South America
One of the most death defying acts that occur across the whole globe are gangs. These gangs
travel coast to coast trying to kidnap, rob, murder, deal drugs, and even cause atrocities. One of the
biggest problems plaguing South America are these gang related issues. Nobody is attempting to
stop these gangs due to their vast amount of power. In fact, Donald Trump, and the United Statesare
making an effort to deport all of the MS 13 members and get them out of the country. Otherwise,
nobody is trying to stop them and they will just keep gaining more and more power as time goes
on. The biggest problem with these gangs is what they are causing and the effects that they give
off. They are scaring people away by their appearance, people are hearing on the news that these
gangs are spreading and how they are hotwiring cars, and stealing purses. Within the first two
months of 2016, there has been a record of 1,399 murders just caused by gangs. There is also an
average of 24 murders per day, within just this country. The most dangerous gangs in El
Salvador are spreading all over the world which is why this is a global issue. The two gangs that
are being researched were created around 1960 to 1980. These gangs were first founded in the
barrios of Los Angelesand were spread all the way to South and Central America. Barrios are
neighborhoods or streets in spanish speaking countries. This is where most South American gangs
were created. These gangs are made up of South American

Blue Ridge Manufacturing Case Summary
The firm was considering devoting a greater share of the production resources to the sports line.
What do your results in part two imply about the product line s continued success, and whether the
firm should devote more resources to that line? You should consider and answer the following
questions:
Should the sports line be dropped?
Blue Ridge Manufacturing should drop the sports line because it s operating at net loss of
$247,127. The sports line should consider increasing price while maintaining current market shares
in order to continue operations. Also, indirect cost is high for sports line compared to designer and
children s line hence firm should consider cost reduction items as outlined below.
Can you determine why market share (sales) for the sports line was increasing?
I can t determine why the sales for sports line was increasing. In order to determine the reason I
would like to review previous year income statement for comparison. Also, it would be helpful to
have activities based cost information from previous year for comparison.

items the firm should consider are Designer s Pay, number of unique items, and number of material

What are the benefits of an ABC allocation of indirect costs that a single, volume based allocation

Activity based costing is more accurate because it takes important factors into account before
assigning a cost to a product. It s also more thorough and considers nonmanufacturing expenses as
well, such as administrative and managerial costs. The ABC method is accurate, however it s

Digital And Print Media s Effect On The Self Respect Of...
Electronic and print media have brought about sweeping changes in human life and have had far
reaching implications for all walks of life. Originating in the early 15th century, the printing press
of the newspaper made the first appearance in Germany in the late 1400 s in the mode of news
pamphlets or broadsides (Barber, P. 2014) [1]; and now people are easily capable of getting
information through various digital devices such as sophisticated televisions and smart phones.
Mass communication, however, is likely to have adverse effects on the way people, especially
children and adolescents, perceive knowledge. Although mass mediacurrently provides adults and
teenagers with essential opportunities to receive insight into a wide range of fields, it also raises
knotty problems pertaining to their self esteem, behaviour and actions.
On one hand, mass communication has a detrimental influence on the self respect of the older
generation (over 65 years old). In fact, when advertisers strive for promoting their products, they
do not include images of the elderly because they are often associated with ineffectiveness,
unattractiveness, immobilisation and unhappiness. There are few senior citizens presented on
television and almost all are male: only one in ten characters judged to be 65 or older is a woman
(Delloff, M.L. 1987) [2]. Furthermore, Dail (1988) states that elderly populations suffer from
negative stereotyping more than any other identifiable social group (Tupper. M)

the community together and how it lead to the fragmentation of it. Third chapter begins with
detailed events of succession to the Prophet Muhammad and is often cited as the starting point for
the split in the Islamic community. In a brief summary, author writes the biographical/historical
narrative of the Prophet from his birth to his death, which is accepted by all Muslims. Then the

Shia narratives that state where the Prophet appointed Ali as his successor during the early
stages of the Prophet s life. Another important historical event Haider cover in this chapter is the
tragedy in Karbala or the battle of Karbala. In 680, Umayyad army killed Imam Husayn b. Ali
the grandson of the Prophet with his family and companions in present day holy city of Karbala,

  • 2. The Climate Vegetation and Fauna in Sweden The climate, vegetation and fauna in Sweden are totally different from those in Asia, especially different from Hong Kong. The reason is that the latitude and the region they lay on are really distinct. These three factors are closely related, because climate will greatly affect the growing of different vegetation and animal species. Before talking about the climate of Sweden, it is important to know that Sweden is a country located in the middle of Norway and the Baltic Sea. Many climate extremes are protected away from Sweden due to the high mountains stand between the two countries. Sweden also has a much milder climate than most other regions of the world that lie as far north because of the influence of the Gulf Stream. However, a large range of temperatures is experienced throughout the whole country. Basically, the country can be divided into three regions; central and southern Sweden, the northeast, and the northwest, or far north to describe the climate in Sweden. In central and Southern Sweden, it is the most densely populated and agriculturally productive part of the country. Many parts of the region are low lying areas with numerous lakes. When compare to the North, the winters are quite cold and shorter, while the summers are relatively warm. For precipitation, most rain falls during summer and early autumn and there is rarely heavy rain. In winter, precipitation mainly falls as snow. In Northeastern Sweden, winters are severe. The northwardly they go, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The dialogue between him and his doubtful wife serve as flashbacks to when the two older friends had traveled to Europe for a time, where they left mutually disgruntled and no longer friends. It gives the reader a look back into the two to be hikers pasts with each other. It is obvious that Bryson still harbored some ill feelings towards Katz, whether it be because the man was lazy or unlikable. • 4. Human Culture Revealed In Daniel Quinn s Ishmael Man lives life as though they are the ones to rule the Earth, instead of living as one with nature. Daniel Quinn s Ishmael shows how man came to be this way, and why people should take a look at the past to learn about the way people should live now. By comparing and contrasting controlling culture and the thirst for knowledge between Ishmael and Planet of the Apes, it becomes clear that man believes knowledge and power are the most important aspects of life. One main argument Ishmael makes is that human culture is not based on humans as living beings of Earth; it is based on them trying to be gods. The narrator says the reason for creation of man went something like this, The world is for man... For nearly three million years he lived as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It sets them apart from all other creatures of the world; which is how the apes in Planet of the Apes feel about knowledge over humans. The anthropomorphic race would never think that another species could control them. After all, they expect exemption from the laws of nature. In the movie, the main protagonist was originally from Earth, and explained their thirst for knowledge, You d walk naked into a live volcano if you thought you could learn something no other man knew. (Schaffner). Planet of the Apes is not so subtly saying the undying thirst for power in the form of knowledge puts humans above all else, including gods. In the tale of Adam and Eve, Ishmael explains to his student how foolish the want for knowledge can make a man, Wielding the knowledge of good and evil, we have made ourselves the masters of the world, and the gods have no power over us... isn t it sweeter to live in our own hands than in the hands of the gods? (Quinn, 164). Both texts agree that knowing things other races do not know makes them the more intelligent, and in turn, the dominant species. In the movie, the main characters, Taylor and Landon, automatically assume that they would run the planet in a short amount of time due to their seemingly high intellect. However, when they meet the apes, they get caught, imprisoned, and treated like animals. Since they were always taught humans are superior, they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Following suit around the county, in particular at Howard University, other transcending organizations arose resulting in new ways of thinking, behavior and, connectivity for black American progression. The fruit bore from these transcending organizations provided the core leadership and game changers that shaped the twentieth century black experience. Such greats as W.E.B Du Bose, Booker T. Washington, Ernest E. Just, Carter G. Woodson, James Weldon Johnson, Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander, , Ruth Whitehead Whaley, Zora Neale Hurston, Charles Hamilton Houston, Thurgood Marshall, A. Phillip Randolph, Martin Luther King, Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., Coretta Scott King, Dorothy Height, Jesse Jackson, Andrew Young, and Barbara Jordan, and Bobby Rush to name a small few. Undoubtedly, these men and women deserve the highest of praise and thanks for their courage and sacrifice. They have been the propellers behind black America s progression the last one hundred years. • 6. Christian Beliefs Of The World Charlemagne, was a man raised on Christian beliefs who spent his life waging war on those who were not Christian. Conquered peoples were forced to accept Christianity as their fate or face exile and/or death. This manner of conversion to Christian beliefs completely goes against the teachings of his beloved bible. The hypocrisy of these acts bring one to question his true motivations. Was he really trying to spread Christianityor was he simply using his Christian crusade as a means to expand his territories using the support of the pope and the Papal States claiming protector? Charlemagne Charlemagne, Charles the Great, Carlos Magnus, Karl der Grosse, the eldest son of Pepin III, was born April 2, 0742 probably in Aachen, Austrasia (now Germany) (Winston, 2015). He was raised in an environment of change from the Franks primarily pagan worship lifestyle to one of Christian beliefs with strong family ties to the popes and missionaries of the times. His great grandfather Clovis, had converted to Christianity under the influence of his Christian wife, and his reign began the family s relationship with the Christian Church (Winston, 2015). Primarily educated by his mother and the monks of Saint Denis in his youth, he spent a great deal of his adult life studying grammar, astronomy, music and the bible (Graves, 2016). To do this, I will need to improve my self confidence. Self confidence is an important characteristic of successful leaders. Cavallo and Brienza (2006) explain that self confidence assists in the imaging process. Having self confidence not only helps, when and how well you explain your vision, but, can help in developing an advanced vision (Sosik Dinger, 2007). Sosik and Dinger (2007) state that confident leaders are able to portray their idea in a way that facilitates trust, necessary for implementation. This is something that I have always struggled with, I have always doubted my ability and skills. This makes me shy a way of sharing ideas and for fighting for them. On placement, I would often use language that was discouraging of myself as a social work practitioner and my skill set. My supervisor stated, that I need to be more confident in what I bring to the organization. From this, I realized as a future practitioner near my final stages of my degree, self confidence is a characteristic that I need to really further develop. This is because, there is a need as a professional, to be confident in my own practice, in order for my future clients and colleagues to trust in my ability. According to Adams and Adams (2008) there is a perception of power that clients feel. This perception, is that they assume that the worker in authority are competent. Thus, if I ... The case Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission was to regulate the spendings of candidates campaign, but it failed to succeed. The Supreme Court ruled 5 4 in the case of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. (Bentley, 2017) The case was ruled in favor of big business donating private funds to campaigns. They argued because the first amendment protects the right to speak of many corporations and unions, whether or not people see them as human, therefore the are aloud to donate money to a candidate. (Bentley, 2017) In the academic journal written by Bentley, he States the Court majority (Justices Kennedy, Roberts, Alito, Scalia, and Thomas) argued, although government has the authority to prevent corruption or the appearance of corruption, it has no place in determining whether large political expenditures are either of those things, so it may not impose spending limits on that basis. This meaning the government cannot enforce spending limits on private donors due to the government not being able to identify the big businesses as corrupted . Since the government cannot label an organization as corrupt or unjust, therefore the donor can continue to assist the candidate. The main problem is the United States of America seems to avoid this. There is a clear problem with Citizens United being able to continue donating money to candidates without giving them so much power. This can be stopped through a constitutional amendment to strip away the corporations of their rights. Moving-Average Temperature Equations It is difficult to apply any meaning to this variability from the moving average temperature but someone could make reasonable assumptions about why this difference in variability exists. One such assumption could be because you cannot give the entire globe a single temperature. It is, naturally, an aggregation of many localized temperatures, which must be averaged or at least used to calculate a median to negate the effect of outliers. The aggregated global calculation inherently smooths out the impacts of localized variances on the variability of the overall global value. This matches the observation we can see in the graph of greater dips and rises in the line representing the data set. It is reasonable to assume that, with more data, we may be more likely to see a change in the direction of the trend line for Seattle (at only 68% fit) than we would for the global trend line. In Sao Paulo, technology is on the rise and is slowly catching up with the United States and other countries that are quickly developing. With a generation of kids in the United States that have connection to anything at their fingertips, we can notice that our perspectives and modalities are always adapting. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The data transfer rate is very important because it regulates our devices and technologies we use. In general, the data transfer rate reflects changes and improvements in digital technologies, where newer systems, such as solid state electronics, have resulted in much higher data transfer rates within only a few decades. Often, people mistake transfer rate with broadband, nevertheless, they are two different things working in slightly different ways. Transfer rate looks at the amount of data that has actually been transferred between two different points, while bandwidth is a measurement of the theoretical maximum transfer capacity of a certain point on a network. With all this data flowing freely, there has to be some sort of restriction on how fast different applications are. This is where net neutrality comes into play. For example, online streaming effectively requires your computer to download a new image once every fraction of a second. This takes up much more data than sending a simple email or using a simple application. The result of this is that organizations and bigger users have to buy high performance networks to maximize rates. Companies such as T Mobile have released unlimited data plans with no cap on, and this has been causing waves throughout the industry. They have been attempting to gain market share with companies like AT T and Verizon. Now, they offer to pay out the contract fees of customers who switch over. T Mobile may not be favoring one ... The Mystery Mixture And The Mystery Mixture Introduction: When faced with a problem a good scientist will use experiments, notes, debates, and more to their advantage to solve the tough questions. A groups of scientists did just that when faced with a problem of their own. A tiny vial with a white powdery substance in it was put in front of them, and they needed to find out what was in it! Faced with nine possible ingredients in the Mystery mixture, a well tray, a water dropper, and a toothpick, these scientists were a little overwhelmed, but determined. One of the first things they did was look at the substance and compare it to their own mixtures, using experiments or chemical properties. Chemical properties are a chemical s reaction to another or more substances, and a change in it s identity. When they observed the chemicals the students were using physical properties, or observing the chemical s smell, texture, color, appearance, size, and shape. SST Anomalies Essay In the statistical detection of re emergence (section 4.2.1), it was indicated that recurrence of SST anomalies is observed not only in the mid latitudes but also in the tropical ocean. In particular, the south western tropical Pacific ocean shows a significant sign of SST anomaly recurrence. The seasonal variability of MLD is the dominant dynamical process that controls the re emergence in the midlatitudes. However, this shouldn t be the case in the tropical region because the amplitude of the seasonal variability of the MLD is small (Pookkandy et al 2016). The integrated surface temperature fields are restored with a damping coefficient of 30 Wm 2K 1, along with the flux correction to match the spectral variance and standard deviation of SSTs to those observed (figures are not shown). Since the ML in this region is relatively shallow, and to avoid seasonal variability in the ML induced by the model physics, we ran the experiment with a 10m prescribed MLD. Figure 4.15 shows the auto correlation of SST anomalies during the cold season for both the Control and 10m constant MLD experiments. Significant signals of re emergence as in the observations (Figure 4.14) do not occur in either of the cases. One has to keep in mind that the generated stochastic atmospheric forces do not show the re appearing pattern seen in the observations. Hence, we couldn t reproduce the re emergence signal in our control simulation. In the next experiment, we ran the model with a generated AR 1 atmospheric heat flux with recurring patterns in May Jun July months (see Figure 4.16). This was achieved by adding a 50 Wm 2 net heat flux to May Jun July months in alternate decades until the model had run 500 years, so that it produces repeating positive anomalies continuously for 10 years and negative anomalies in the following 10 years. • 21. Gender Roles Of Odysseus And Penelope In Homer s Odyssey Traditional gender roles unfortunately remain an influential part of society today. In some parts of the world, it is illegal for women to do anything without the permission or sometimes even accompaniment of a male guardian. While it is true that the world has made considerable progress in eliminating gender stereotypes overall, there is much work that has yet to be done, and people must continue to strive for equality in order to eliminate unhealthy relationships like that of Odysseusand Penelopein Homer s Odyssey. The epic poem explores Odysseus unnecessarily long journey home after helping Greece win the Trojan War while his wife Penelope waits for him in Ithaca. The contrast between Penelope s faithfulness at home and how Odysseus often strays from his path of return, in many cases by being unfaithful to his wife, highlights the traditional expectations set for men and women during this time and how differently they are supposed to behave. Odysseus yearning for adventure spurs him to explore the many places he encounters without having a need to, causing his route home to be particularly indirect. After landing on the island of the Cyclops, Odysseus deems it a good idea for him to explore the island, even though he knows that the people he meet may not be friendly. He takes a group of men to find out what the mainland natives are / for they may be wild savages and lawless, / or hospitable and god fearing men (Book IX, 187 189). • 22. Situational Irony In Ransom Of Red Chief What if someone told you that if you kidnap this child, a lot of money would be given to you? The catch is: after you kidnap the child, that same person would tell you he has no money, so no ransom would be paid. In O. Henry s Ransom of Red Chief , this is precisely what happened. Two kidnappers, Sam, the narrator, and Bill Driscol, decide to kidnap the only child of Ebenezer Dorset, a money tight wealthy man who is highly respected in the small town of Summit. How the ransom is paid; however, is quite unexpected. O. Henry uses verbal and situational ironyto design humor and advance the theme of not everything is as it seems and taking shortcuts in life. If this was a realistic story, Ebenezer Dorset should have paid the kidnappers instead of the other way around. As in the last paragraph, Dorset wrote, You bring Johnny home and pay me two hundred and fifty dollars in cash, and I agree to take him off your hands. (Henry 591) What Dorset is implying is that the kidnappers should pay the ransom to bring the child back. And the ironic and funny thing is; they do! Sam and Bill are so fed up with Red Chief they pay Dorset to give him back, as it says on page 593, Just at the moment when I should have been abstracting the fifteen hundred dollars from the box under the tree, according to the original proposition, bill was counting out two hundred and fifty dollars into Dorset s hand. (Henry 593) This is very amusing to the readers because the kidnappers are paying the victim s father. It s like a baby sitter paying the parents of the child they just baby sat. This irony also supports the theme of short cuts. Sam and Bill wanted to take a short cut by kidnapping to get money, and at the end of it all, they lost even more money than they originally ... History is about; understanding how people felt, how they lived and how certain events shaped the society they lived in. The truth is, today s society only knows bits and pieces of history because most of the history that s known is often misinterpreted, or misconstrued due to the lack of evidence that has survived, or the over abundance of information that is present. Other times, historymight be misinterpreted because historians try to fill in the blanks with information. Even though history is a very interesting area of study there are many different ways of interpreting it. The problem with studying history is that it s very hard to accurately say that things occurred a certain way. World War II ended yes, but who played the bigger role in its conclusion? Depending on where you are, people would answer the question differently. If you were Russian you would say the Russians played the bigger role in ending World War II, however, if you were an American, you might say otherwise. In all, history is only as accurate as the interpretation of the given evidence, and even then there might be misconceptions. The epistemological fragility of history makes certain aspects of history hard to interpret and understand and therefore, it s hard to put together a complete picture. An example of this phenomenon involves the massacre that occurred in Almo, Idaho in 1861. The massacre served as a collective identity for the people of the town because it was a reminder of the struggle that the settlers went through to ensure the survival of themselves, as well as their families. (Maybe add something here?) Oftentimes, people study history because they want to know where they came from. A collective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the planet orbit the sun, gravitational pull of the planet makes the star wobble, changing the sun velocity. This change of velocity can be detected by astronomical spectroscopy using redshift and blueshift. When the star wobble closer to us, the star emits higher frequencies, longer wavelength, and showing bluer colour when detecting to a spectroscope. When the star wobble away to us, the star emits lower frequencies, shorter wavelength, and showing reddish colour in the spectroscope. How the planet change the velocity of the sun determine the planet mass as gravitational pull of the planet depends on the mass of the planet. When you know the star size, you can work out the size ratio of the planet and the star when the planet transit the star. As I mentioned before, knowing the linear diameter of the planet gives the astronomers the volume of the planet and volume of the planet and its mass determine the density of the planets. Primarily, understanding the context and consequences of WWI is vital to apprehend airpower theorist like Douhet, Mitchell and Trenchard and their revolutionary thoughts on airpower. Likewise, he postulated the potency of airpower and considered as the most decisive element in future wars. Further, he argued, that airpower would make Army and Naval forces almost superfluous. The United States, other than Great Britain, had a different perspective of its geopolitical situation. Because of the two Oceans on either side of their country, felt they could afford to be more complacent about developments in aviation. Although General Mitchell was a strong proponent for strategic bombing American airmen had a more distant perspective on bomber aircraft and the use in future wars. But, both, British and American airpower theorist believed that bombers are an offensive weapon. According to the American national security guideline bomber aircraft, especially shortly after WWI, would be employed as a defensive weapon. Mitchell argued, that airpower, by making wars shorter, would offer a way around the stalemate and slaughter seen in the Great war. • 37. Potential Of Microbial Fuel Cells Potential of Microbial Fuel Cells A microbial fuel cell (MFC) is a device that converts chemical energy to electrical energy by the catalytic and metabolic reactions of microorganisms. The microorganisms function as a catalyst in the electron transfer between the electrodes. A MFC is just like any other fuel cell in its function which can undergo a half cell reaction. A typical microbial fuel cell consists of anode and cathode compartments separated by a cation (positively charged ion) permitting specific membrane. At the anode, the organic matter or substrate is oxidized by microorganisms, generating CO2, electrons and protons. Electrons are transferred to the cathode through an external electric circuit, while protons are transferred to the cathode through the membrane. Electrons and protons react in the cathode, combining with oxygen to form water. A simple REDOX reaction takes place in the fuel cell. The rate of the reactions can depend on the internal resistance, bacteria, substrate, semi permeable membrane and electrode configuration. The detection rates of lumps and suspicious tissues in the breast area have also risen with the 3D mammography. She is has been awarded a number of prizes including the Booker Prize, Arthur C. She further explains that Atwood has always been well aware of her subjects irrespective of its genderor type and thus always worked within them. One of the most remarkable features of Atwood s poetry is the duality which is presented through separation, says The Art of Margaret Atwood: Essays in Criticism. Atwood s work beautifully elaborated the idea of alienation and the need for human communication. She tries to draw the attention of the audience towards the need of a balanced society or a communicating structure for humans. The suffering in her works, especially around the female character, was the result of her experience with the women who generally suffered in some on the other way, she explained. • 42. Analysis Of The Book Hedda Gabler Essay Dark Victory: Hedda s Triumph Through Suicide. What is most often thought of when the word woman comes to mind? Kind? Feminine? Submissive? These adjectives often come to mind. Humans have placed stereotypes on woman and have placed them second fiddle to man. And so powerful and masculine would never be acceptable to call a woman? Henrik Ibsen s, Hedda Gabler, is just this case. Hedda, the main character of the story, is the exact opposite of what women are thought to be. She is cold, emotionless, and some would say she shows a degree of masculinity. She is a woman who s only actions in the pursuit of power and manipulation being her main tool. Hedda s great conquest of power ultimately ends with her being pregnant with her tool of a husband s child and sexual servitude to a lustful Judge Brack, through black mail of LГёvborgs death at the barrel of Hedda s father s own pistol. Hedda having no choice and being back into a corner decides to do the boldest measure ever for a woman, suicide. She escaped through death and avoided Brack s sexual blackmail, becoming useless to her husband, as well as mother hood. Suicide was her final victory. Henriks Ibsen s play Hedda Gabler is one of a woman on a quest of power. Hedda being a woman this time period might be thought of as a disadvantage but that idea would be wrong. Hedda has indeed learned that this is a man s world clearly. Hedda simply doesn t care, Hedda will get her way eventually. This woman is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Midwestern Crime Wave Essay The Midwestern Crime Wave All across the nation during the Great Depression people were jobless, homeless, and starving; nowhere was this truer than in the American Midwest. Not only did the farms and cities of the Midwest have to deal with the poor economic conditions but the Midwest s main source of income, agriculture, was being ravaged by the natural phenomenon now called the Dust Bowl. On top of low crop prices and a lack of employment farmland was ruined, went unplanted, and was often foreclosed on. These extra difficulties left the inhabitants of the Midwest with added resentments and frustration with businesses and government that seemed unable or unwilling to help. Out of this extreme hardship came a group of people who for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This in turn made the public feel that those robbing banks and kidnapping the rich were striking out for the poor against the wealthy. With the masses on their side these outlaws had many supporters among the American public. Claire Potter described the difficulty police had in obtaining information on gangsters from everyday citizens. She wrote about police who were questioning a witness whose only answer was to ask why we do not put all the bankers in jail who stole the people s money? (147) On top of this, the gangsters also offered some sensation and drama to the people of the Great Depression. Since fulfilling one s basic needs was so difficult the public had little time or money for recreational activities. The stories of the wild shootouts and daring holdups then gave the public something to talk about offering a little escape from the difficulty if their daily lives. These two aspects allowed gangsters to make many friends and find support easily while trying to elude authorities. Armed robbery and kidnapping were the specialty of those that participated in the Midwestern crime wave. These crimes are what made men and women like Machine Gun Kelly, John Dillinger, Bonnie Parker, and Clyde Barrow famous. They may all had their start in petty crime, such as stealing cars or bootlegging, but the outlaws who seemed to gain notoriety all graduated past these crimes quickly. From colonial times to the present day, The United States has always been racially contested. However, in the onslaught of WWII these tensions reached new levels and different levels. Americans came to fear the Japanese, Japanese Americans, and Mexican Americans. While many believed that these racially based fears were unjustified, due to the racial ideas already in place, the violence and aggression that occurred during the war, propaganda, and the government s actions, these fears were not as unrealistic as they may appear today. During the time leading up to the onslaught of the Second World War, the Japanese had never been considered much of a threat on the international stage. The Japanese had stayed unindustrialized and rather primitive until this time. As far as White Europeans were concerned the Japanese were little men . They were not at all anywhere near comparable to the sophisticated and racially, economically, morally, and physically superior Whites of the Western Hemisphere (Dower 173). However, Japanese violence quickly caused these ideas of weak and harmless Japanese to fade away. On December 7, 1941 , the Japanese military attacked Pearl Harbor, and continued to have victories in Malaysia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Wake and Midway Island soon after (Gorn 202) Theses victories revealed the power and violence the Japanese were capable of. There are people who see capital punishment as morally wrong and committing a murder or on the side of the spectrum people see it as the right thing to do and believe that the individual receiving the punishment deserves it. I will also talk about how capital punishmentcan be used as a deterrent and make individuals second guess the decision they want to make and this may very well be a consequence of their actions. Another thing I will look at and talk about is how people have been falsely accused and sentenced to death or are currently sitting on death row. Also the technology and resources that are available today are so precise and extremely effective that to falsely convict someone is extremely slim and not common at all. There are numerous types of methods used to commit capital punishment and I will take a look at them and discuss them and look at some of them are inhumane and cruel. The process of getting on death row and eventually getting put to death is a very long and tedious one and it takes years to happen. I will discuss how people can make appeals, try and have their case heard again and to try and get off death row even though at times it isn t successful at all. The tragic hero, is, however, betrayed by his enemies and thrown in prison doomed there for the rest of his life. Edmond assumes many personas throughout the novel, each corresponding to fit the dramatic situation he is in. DantГЁs assumes the personas: The Count of Monte Cristo, Abbe Busoni, and himself (Edmond DantГЁs). The Count describes himself as an avenging angel who is also the default persona of DantГЁs for the entire novel. Abbe Busoni, an Italian priest, is much like the Count within the lines of avenging the wrongs committed against him but used to gain trust from his religious stance. DantГЁs is described as a young, kind, and innocent man anticipating getting married to the love of his life, but after spending 14 years in prison, he is a bitter and vengeful man. Despite the differences between each persona, all three combines to create one person, the older DantГЁs. All that was ever on the young man s mind, was getting married to his fiancГ© Mercedes. The two were terribly in love with each other only to be broken up by DantГЁs arrest. When told of his false conviction, he didn t show a hateful glare in his demeanor, the young man was so candid and open, so full of affection for his fellow man, including even his stern judge, that it seemed to Villefort that each word he spoke was a proof of his innocence. Electronic and print media have brought about sweeping changes in human life and have had far reaching implications for all walks of life. Originating in the early 15th century, the printing press of the newspaper made the first appearance in Germany in the late 1400 s in the mode of news pamphlets or broadsides (Barber, P. 2014) [1]; and now people are easily capable of getting information through various digital devices such as sophisticated televisions and smart phones. Mass communication, however, is likely to have adverse effects on the way people, especially children and adolescents, perceive knowledge. Although mass mediacurrently provides adults and teenagers with essential opportunities to receive insight into a wide range of fields, it also raises knotty problems pertaining to their self esteem, behaviour and actions. On one hand, mass communication has a detrimental influence on the self respect of the older generation (over 65 years old). In fact, when advertisers strive for promoting their products, they do not include images of the elderly because they are often associated with ineffectiveness, unattractiveness, immobilisation and unhappiness. There are few senior citizens presented on television and almost all are male: only one in ten characters judged to be 65 or older is a woman (Delloff, M.L. 1987) [2].
