Learning And Development Processes Of A Child
The learning and development processes of a child have been debated for years, with no one theory
sticking out as the best explanation as to how and why we learn. Looking at the behaviourist and
humanist views of learning and development and the key theorists within them, you can see just
how different they can be with their explanations of this.
The key behaviourist views on learning are that learning is shaped by different incentives
presented to the child. External stimulus shapes learning, as it prompts a response and increases
the likelihood of the learner repeating the behaviour. Behaviourists believe development happens
as a process of learning and that it has nothing to do with pre determined stages relating to a child
s age and or mental ability. The behaviourist view works on a mix of operant and classical
conditioning, operant conditioning is a process of learning where behaviour is controlled by
consequences such as positive and negative reinforcements and positive and negative punishments.
Classical conditioning is when the learner simply responds to external stimuli in a deterministic
manner (Jordan, Carlile, and Stack, 2008).
Pavlov, a behaviourist, looked deeply into the idea of classical conditioning and involuntary
responses to stimuli. Pavlov looked at the responses of dogs and found that when the dog was
presented with food the dog would salivate, which would be an unconditional response. But, when
combined with the ringing of a bell as the food was

1. List the symptoms experienced by Mr. Gower.
Mr. Grower experiences symptoms such as feeling hot, and light headedness, and unawareness. He
felt hot and warm prior to the root canal removal. Therefore this symptom is most likely hinting at
some problems he got before the removal. His symptoms of lightheadedness could be due to the
effects of the surgery or anesthetic. Need more information to be sure.

a. Which presynaptic cell must have action potentials to produce one or more action potentials in
the postsynaptic cell?
Excitatory presynaptic cell must have action potentials to produce one or more action potentials in
the postsynaptic cell because they promote depolarization of membrane which is needed to cause
an action potential. On the other hand Inhibitory presynaptic cell promote hyperpolarization which
goes against producing an action potential.
b. What phenomena must take place for the small postsynaptic potentials to reach threshold and
produce action potentials?
Summation of Excitatory postsynaptic potential and Inhibitory postsynaptic potential must take
place. More specifically spatial summation, which means that all the types of potential must add up
to be greater (less negative) than the threshold potential of 55mv for an action potential to occur in
the postsynaptic neuron.
c. If the frequency of action potentials in this presynaptic cell (#10a) increases, what happens to the
number of action potentials in the postsynaptic cell?
If the frequency of action potentials in the excitatory presynaptic cell increases than the number of
action potentials in the postsynaptic cell will increase as well. This is due to temporal summation
of EPSP at very frequent times. This causes the postsynaptic cell to produce many action potential
in succession.

3.3 B amp;Q case
B amp;Q plc works with many vendors such as Kingfisher Asia (KAL) who supply products to B
amp;Q. Hence to manage their vendors and ensure processes and procedures are followed, B
amp;Q come up with code of conduct (B amp;Q Operational Standards for Supply Chains) for all
their vendors. The code of conduct is based on the international labour and envirnmental standards
set by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conventions which factories and worksites of
all vendors throughout the world need to comply to.
In summary, vendors need to let B amp;Q have full visibility of the enitre supply chain and fulfill
and obey the code of conduct criteria at all facilities. Any failure to meet the nine Critical Failure
Points (CFPs) will result in B amp;Q not buying or purchasing their products.
Through this code of conduct, we can deduce that B amp;Q adopts a possession of knowledge
rather than practice of knowledge. B amp;Q receives knowledge about labour and environmental
guidelines from ILO conventions and uses the basic context to write down or capture in an
information technology (IT) system which is then made available as an organizational resource B
amp;Q Operational Standards for Supply Chains. This is in contrast of having a group discussion
with the vendors and seeking their opinions and views on how to create a better working
environment for the workers (practice of knowledge).
For example, Baer (1987) and Abbott (1988) explained

The Components Elements Of Education
Education comes in different philosophies and is a crucial element in every civilization. When a
country is oppressed, one of the first things the oppressor tries to take over and get control is their
education. The reason is because with education, one can give or withhold any kind of information
and shape the nation in the way they see appropriate. With the exception of oppressed individuals,
educationteaches their society who they are, what is the nature of their environment, and how does
the context exist in the in the environment? Through control, the government is able to hold power
over the component elements of education. The component elements of education include the
teacher, learner, curriculum, learning environment, methodology, desired results, the teacher
student relationship, and the teacher community relationship. Three philosophies of pedagogythat
could be divided into the component elements of education are the classical traditional/conservative
philosophy, liberal progressive, and critical pedagogy. Although a few aspects within the elements
are similar, they are very different in their approach of teaching philosophies. The classical
traditional/conservative philosophy, liberal progressive, and critical pedagogy compare within the
curriculum, but their ideologies of teacher, learner, and desired results are drastically different.
Each philosophy has an overall goal for their society and people through the component elements of
education.

ZARA: Fast Fashion
Fashion is the imitation of a given example and satisfies the demand for social adaptation. . . . The
more an article becomes subject to rapid changes of fashion, the greater the demand for cheap
products of its kind. Georg Simmel, Fashion (1904) Inditex (Industria de DiseГ±o Textil) of Spain,
the owner of Zara and five other apparel retailing chains, continued a trajectory of rapid,
profitable growth by posting net income of € 340 million on € revenues of € 3,250 million

Proximity also mattered because it reduced shipping costs and lags, and because poorer
neighbors sometimes benefited from trade concessions. While China became an export
powerhouse across the board, greater regionalization was the dominant motif of changes in the
apparel trade in the 1990s. Turkey, North Africa, and sundry Eastern European countries emerged
as major suppliers to the European Union; Mexico and the Caribbean Basin as major suppliers to
the United States; and China as the dominant supplier to Japan (where there were no quotas to
restrict imports).3 World trade in apparel and textiles continued to be regulated by the Multi Fiber
Arrangement (MFA), which had restricted imports into certain markets (basically the United
States, Canada, and Western Europe) since 1974. Two decades later, agreement was reached to
phase out the MFA s quota system by 2005, and to further reduce tariffs (which averaged 7% to
9% in the major markets). As of 2002, some warned that the transition to the post MFA world could
prove enormously disruptive for suppliers in many exporting and importing countries, and might
even ignite demands for managed trade. There was also

Electric Charge And The Electric Field
EXPERIMENT #1: ELECTRIC CHARGE AND THE ELECTRIC FIELD PHY 2092 10 By:

of this experiment is to analyze the static electricity, electrical charge, charge grounding, inducing
charge, and electric polarization. We used two wands that created positive and negative charges
when rubbed together one is blue and the other is white. We put one of the wands inside the pail
attached to the electrometer to read the wand s voltage. In the second part of the experiment, a
conductive sphere was applied 2000 volts, and voltage s readings were taken at different locations

When we used both wands, the electrometer almost read zero volts throughout the duration of the
experiment. This proves that the negativity of the particles on the blue wand were equal to the
positive charge of the particles on the white wand; so it cancelled each other out. While using
the both wands we encountered an error. The voltage should have been zero when the wands
was out the pail and not touching the pail; however the electrometer reading was 3 volt. This is
most likely due to a random error in measurement due to a faulty electrometer or pail. The
electrometer may have not been sensitive enough to pick up all the charged particles when the
wands were not out the pail we should have repeated this so we can get accurate readings.

Racism In The Great Gatsby Essay
Tom counts himself at the top of the Nordic race . He asserts that Civilization s going to pieces
[...] It s up to us who are the dominant race to watch out or these other races will have control of
things . After reading The Rise of the Colored Empires , he introduces scientific racism. He says
the white race will be will be utterly submerged. It s all scientific stuff; it s been proved . In one of
his comments, we find that Tom, Nick, and Jordan belong to the Nordic racewhen Nick first visits
the Buchanans. (Fitzgerald 11) It is noteworthy that Nick and Gatsby find few blacks in a car on
their way to New York. Tarah Demant in his thesis paper claims The humor Nick finds in this
driving scene is that the passengers in the limousine, just as clearly different and inferior, and The
three modish Negroes, two bucks and a girl in the limousine are clearly racially different, no
matter how closely they can imitate the type of white privilege that marks Gatsby in this scene
(198). Physical differences between whites and blacks are clearly evident here. The impact of
prevailing social stratificationis multi dimensional in the novel. It is noted that social stratification
has great effects on racism. We find that Tom is a racist, and his racist attitude is due to his high
social status. He attacks Gatsby and questions about his fake claim of an Oxford graduate to
break the intimacy between her wife Daisy and Gatsby. He knows that revealing the truth is the
only way to create a negative impact on Daisy s mind about Gatsby. Another interpretation can
be taken from Tom s behavior is that Tom shows his aristocratic, rude and arrogant attitude.
Indicating Gatsby as a bootlegger , Mr. Nobody , he shows hardly any sympathy and courtesy to
Gatsby. His attitude toward Gatsby in such way would be impossible if he belongs to an inferior
class. Tom is also proud of his Nordic race . His intention is to neglect the inferior people for
their skin color. He is not a man to take any change easily. He cannot think of intermarriage
between black and white (Fitzgerald 103).Even Nick shows his racist behavior, pointing to the
passengers three modish Negroes . Racism toward the blacks is found, and this reaction

Persuasive Essay: Layoffs within a Company
The decision to lay off employees cannot be the easiest for companies. There is a variety of
different reasons why employers layoff their employees, and the laws in many states allow them
to at any time as long as the reason does not contravene state or federal law. Being let go from your
job can happen by firing or layoff, and though neither is, usually, desired, the layoff is typically the
method that carries less of a stigma. Firing occurs with one worker for any reason that, usually,
involves job performance, unethical behavior or personality differences. Meanwhile, a layoff, ...

The more you can provide them with the peace of mind that comes with knowing what is going
on, the more there will be in the office. Involve employees in brainstorming for solutions. Even if
layoffs are inevitable, there will be a ripple effect through the office, including the possibility of
an increased workload for many individuals. Get the employee s input on this process and allow
them to have a say in how those new responsibilities are addressed. The more you make them feel
they have a voice, the more loyal they will be through difficult times (Zatzick, Zhoa, amp; Tingling,
2014).
In an article Layoff: A Four Letter Word in the Economy Martin (1998 2014) states that, It has
been difficult in recent years to find good people. However, sometimes it is better to have a
position vacant than to hire poorly especially in management. One bad manager can take down
tens to thousands with them (Martin, 1998 2014, para.10). Maintain a flexible workforce, hire
contractors for short term needs, and hire temporary or seasonal help for short term work. Hire
part timers who are willing to work only during the peak periods of need. Offer job sharing
options to current employees (para11). Create a contingency plan. It is better to have well thought
out and developed plan over a quickly devised scheme. It is also much better off to have a plan to
review if something bad happens than to have to invent something in the heat of a crisis (Martin,
1998 2014, para.11).

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Adobe Photoshop
Introduction:
I will be compare the tools to see what they have in common and what they don t. I will also see
which tool I like better. The two tools I have chosen are Gimp and Adobe Photoshop.
GIMP is an Image Manipulation Program. It is a free program for such tasks as photo editing and
photo retouching. It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program or an expert
photo retouching program. GIMP is extensible and expandable. The advanced interface allows
everything from the simplest task to the most complex task to be easily scripted.

The disadvantages of GIMP;
These were the main drawbacks I ve discovered using GIMP.
Buggy it does crash occasionally
Gimp does not support all image formats unless plug ins for them are installed.
The user manual is still under development.
There isn t a lot of help online while Photoshop has plenty of tutorials.

6 reasons Gimp is better:
1 Basic editing is almost the exact same: Photoshop and GIMP, both have basic set of tools for
image editing. Quality image editing can be done in both of the software s.
2 Advanced Features: Photoshop is loaded with more advanced features as compared to GIMP.

The City Of Arvada And The City Of Compton
The two cities selected for this report are to include the city of Arvada and the City of Compton.
Both coming from a long distance, the reports and statistical number between the two are jaw
dropping. The major broad topics that will be focused on will include but not limited to population,
education, and wealth statistics such as poverty level and income level.
The first city selected for this report is found just north west of the capital of Colorado. The city
of Arvada, was founded in 1870 and incorporated in 1904. A brief history and statistic on the city
of Arvada is that the city has grown in population size tremendously. Arvada has boomed in

The word megaregion could be used because as of last year the population has grown roughly by
116,000 residents for its 32 square millage.
The second city also selected for this report is located just south of Los Angeles California, the
City of Compton founded on May 11, 1888 was the eighth city to be incorporated. A brief history
on Compton and its population is that according to the U.S Census Bureau in 2010, the total
population size was at 96,455 residents. This number of residents is lower than what was
expected to see in California. After further investigation in the website, after five year span in
2015, the population of Compton raised to 97,955 residents. Although the smaller population
growth isn t what it seems to be like in Arvada Colorado. But in 2016 in Compton California the
total population size decreased to 97,550 residents. A decrease in 400 residents within the one year
span. Both cities roughly over 1,000 miles apart do share some similarities and differences between
them.
The first pivotal concept between the two cities is on education. Education is key to moving up
within the world. Being more educated in this life means that you gain status, and gain power.
Education is a solution for many problems that may arise in the future and have a significant impact
on various studies including incarceration rate. Nonetheless, the data found on the percentage of
high school graduates between these two cities is very important

Creon As A Tragic Hero In Antigone, By Sophocles
A tragedy is a relative term for great sadness, but in the times of the Greeks and the Romans, the
word tragedy had a slightly different meaning. Aristotle defined a tragic hero as one who has a
major character flaw and experiences a tragedy leading to that character s downfall. The character
must experience a loss in fortune and suffer beyond what they deserve. In the story Antigone was
written by Sophocles, Creon can be defined as a tragic heromore so than Antigone. Creon is the
king of Thebes; he is stubborn but loyal. His loyalties lie with his city, and he believes that
personal affairs come second to the city of Thebes. After the rebels, atack Thebes Creon enacts a
law stating that Polynices, one of the rebels, is forbidden to be buried. Furthermore, he declares
that burial of Polynices will be punishable by death. In Ancient Greece a burial determined
entrance into the afterlife. Creon reckoned that Polynices was an enemy of the state who did not
deserve entrance into the afterlife. However, Polyneices sister, Antigone, wants to bury her
brother. Antigone believes that family matters should take priority over conflicts of the state.
Additionally, because the gods did not proclaim this law Antigone believes she should not have
to follow Creon s law. Creon argues the point of civil law while Antigone places power in moral
law. Civil law is the idea that the person in a position of power makes the laws and that no one, not
even the king is above the law. Moral law is

The Life of John Brown
Caution, Sir! I am eternally tired of hearing that word caution. It is nothing but the word of
cowardice! ( John Brown ) John Brown, known for his actions prior to the Civil War, spoke these
words, and they truly show who he is. Brown, born on May 9, 1800, in Torrington, Connecticut,
fought for everything he believed was right all the way up until his death in 1859. He was known
mostly as an abolitionist and a freedom fighter, constantly trying to liberate slavery. John Browns
actions would lead him to having a role in Bleeding Kansas, as well as Harper s Ferry. John
Brown was born in Connecticut and was the fourth child of Owen Brown. Growing up, he
would go to church with his family, but would later leave at the age of sixteen to Morris
Academy to become a minister. He had to leave the college and return to his family to work in
his father s tannery due to eye inflammations. Finally, in 1836, John Brown finally settled down
in Ohio with his second wife and lived a normal life. He then moved once again to Springfield,
Massachusetts, where he would vow after the murder of a man named Elijah Lovejoy, Here,
before God, in the presence of these witnesses, from this time, I consecrate my life to the
destruction of slavery! ( Holy war ) After the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, John Brown would

Essay on Vision of Heaven in the Poetry of Dickinson
Vision of Heaven in the Poetry of Dickinson
Emily Dickinson never became a member of the church although she lived in a typical New
England Puritan community all her life. The well known lines, Some keep the Sabbath going to
church / I keep it staying at Home (P 236 [B]; J 324),1 suggest her defiance against the existing
church and Christianity of her time in particular. And her manner of calling the Deity by such
terms as Burglar, Banker (P 39; J 49), and a jealous God (P 1752; J 1719) clearly discloses her
antagonism against the Christian God. In fact, she insistently rejected being baptized even when
her family members and intimate friends at Mount Holyoke Female Seminary had chosen to bow in

And Dickinson herself knew the answer was to be found in the Bible, as she answered, For Prose

Higginson what her favorite books were. Of course, there were many other prose writings which
she could have mentioned, but she dared to select these three as the sources of her inspiration.
Needless to say, the three were exclusively special for her. Therefore, by referring to the picture of
heaven in the Book of Revelation, I will consider how Dickinson s poetry delineates one of the most
important and sometimes enigmatic Christian doctrines, the idea of heaven.
The following poem furnishes us with appropriate materials for discussion:
I went to Heaven

In social work, leaders are in charge of motivating their employees to perform their jobs to the best
of their abilities. Sometimes leaders must apply a motivation or leadership theory in order to
motivate their employees. (Fisher, 2009)
Motivational theories are important for leaders in social worker. One of the most important tasks of
a leader is to stimulate productivity among employees. This requires motivation. Employees work
in the social work field for a variety of reasons. Therefore, it is important for leaders to
understand what motivates employees. The three main motivational theories include Maslow s
Hierarchy of Needs, Hertzberg s Two Factors and Motivator Hygiene Theory, and McClelland s
Trichotomy of Needs. (Fisher, 2009) Leaders can use Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs to motivate
employees. The motivational needs in this theory form a pyramid. Leaders must recognize that
employees may be on different levels of needs from one another. The needs at the bottom of the
pyramid must be met before the needs at the higher levels. In order for this theory to work,
leaders must identify the level of need that each employee is currently facing. The first level of
needs is the physiological level. This level has motivators of food, shelter, and clothing. The second
level of needs is security. Leaders can provide this level of need by ensuring job security. The third
level of needs is social needs. Leaders can provide this level of need by helping the

Achieving Millennium Development Goal 2
With the goal of achieving Millennium Development Goal 2(MDG TL, 2014), Timor Leste is
currently working to enhance the quality of education, particularly in the Ensino Basico (Basic
Education) (NESP Tl, 2011). Responding to these challenges, the Ministry of Education provides
professional training referred to as curso intensivo in order to facilitate pedagogical change in
teachers (Shah, 2013). This professional training embraces the concept of the community of practice
because teachers are principally engaged in joint activities to support each other, and to share
information on the subject of knowledge in order to enhance the quality of teaching. Educational
Policy in Timor Leste, The National Educational Strategic Plan 2011 2030, emphasizes that a
holistic approach such as communities of practice, is the best way to facilitate pedagogical renewal
in Timor Leste educational system (NESP TL, 2011). Wenger, McDermott, and Snyder (2006)
acknowledge the benefit of communities of practice by explaining that each group member s
concerns and issues on the practical subject can be mutually addressed through regular interaction.
Accordingly, this chapter will be divided into several sections; firstly, definition of terms. This
section will discuss about originality, definition, characteristics, principles of practice and
understanding the communities of practice. Secondly, a brief introduction of the communities of
practice in the pre independence phase. This section, the

Girl On The Escalator Poem
A Bukowski Poem
Nia Scott
The film, Girl on the Escalator is a visual retelling of a poem by well known poet, Charles
Bukowski.
Girl on the Escalator was an official selection of the 2016 LA Shorts Festival and the 2016
Raindance Film Festival. It was directed by Kayhan Lannes Ozmen.
Charles Bukowski. What can be said about him that hasn t already been said? I think he is a
very talented poet but also controversial. He was an alcoholic and in his poems, he would talk
about ogling women in a way that is slightly uncomfortable to read. Yet, he also wrote uplifting,
compassionate poems about the poor and suffering. He wasn t someone that could be easily
labeled as a writer, he jumped around and wrote exactly what he wanted. Bukowski was always
honest in his poems, and many of them read like the pages of a diary or the streams of thought
that we can t see. His honesty polarized him with some audiences because people like it when
they can easily label something and don t need to think on it, but Bukowski couldn t be named
one thing. I think it was hard for some to read his poems about the poor and then accept his other
poems like Girl on the Escalator . He was a very complex person who lived a colorful life. ... Show

As the narrator reads each line, it is acted out on the screen. Bukowski does what he does best in
the beginning and creepily ogles the young woman s backside. He doesn t seem to like the man that
is with her or does not like the girl because she is not with him. Either way he is motivated to
create a backstory for the girl. The couple did not speak to or antagonize him but he felt the need to
create a story for the girl. Sometimes when I m bored I ll do a similar thing where I ll sit down and
create stories in my head of people s lives but they re usually more hopeful. Bukowski breaks this

Abraham Heschel s Definition Of Abraham Lincoln As A Prophet
Abraham Lincoln
The definition of a prophet, according to Abraham Heschel, is someone who is faithful to God,
is passionate, and would risk their lives to spread the truth of God. Prophets like Isaiah were called
to go on missions for God, to help people see, and he, with a passion, said Here Am I. Send Me.
(Isaiah 6:8). In Jeremiah, God states that he is to be prophet to the nations (Jeremiah 1:4). Abraham
Lincoln was 52 when he became President of the United States of America and became one of the
most well known Presidents in United States history. While normally, you do not think of Abraham
Lincoln as a prophet, Abraham Lincoln fits Abraham Heschel s description of a prophet because he
made our country one again, he emancipated slavery even though many of us thought slavery was
okay, and he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Back in 1861, Abraham Lincoln was approximately five months into being President when the
Civil War rang out across the United States of America. The President had come up with a series
of plans for how he planned to have the Confederates lose the Civil War, but each time he came up
short, however, after the Battle of Gettysburg, his plans were finally starting to work out the way
he wanted, this became known as the turning point of the war for the union. After only six days of
having won the war, Abraham Lincoln was, sadly, shot and killed by John Wilkes Booth. Abraham
Heschel states that Prophets earn their title by witnessing the world around them with outstanding
passion. and Abraham Lincoln fought this war with an outstanding passion. According to Abraham
Heschel, Prophets are also the men whose image is our refuge in distress, and whose voice and

The Pros And Cons Of Kuching City Architecture
Architects in Kuching
What are the Pros of Hiring an Architect in Kuching?
The city of Kuching, in Malaysia is a beautiful, coastal city in the state of Sarawak. The Sarawak
River runs through parts of it, and allows the Kuching architects working here to create designs
with beautiful vistas. The choices you have as a client are wide as the city has a well balanced
architectural styling. This means that the local architects in Kuching city have a free range of
architectural style to offer their clients.
The reason for hiring a Kuching architect is that they understand the culture, and should you wish
to have such an architectural style, it would be an easy task. The ideal reason for hiring an

As already mentioned, the architect has to understand the flow of the river, thus, there are
restriction in building below the flood level of the river. Restrictions apply to building on the

and would, therefore, cost a lot more.
Characteristics of Kuching City architecture?
The diversity in the architectural style of housing and buildings in Kuching city gives the city a
beautiful day and night balance that is seldom found in other cities. The high rise buildings are
well spaced and spread across Kuching city with the lower rise buildings well spread as well.
Kuching city has typical Malaysian architecture, as well as a wide range of colonial, modern, and

Propaganda Techniques Of Today s Advertising By Ann...
In Propaganda Techniques in Today s Advertising by Ann McClintock, the author discusses how
Americans are being brainwashed by advertisements and the different techniques they use to catch
our attention. Ads are simply everywhere we look, it is impossible to get through the day without
seeing one. All advertisingcompanies put tons of research into how consumers spend money or
even vote. Once these companies finish their research, they create advertisements that appeal to the
masses. The basic propagandatechniques that McClintock writes about are Name Calling,
Glittering Generalities, Transfer, Testimonial, Plain Folks, Card Stacking, and Bandwagon. Each
one of these propaganda techniques is used in specific ways by advertisers to sell their product or
service to consumers. I have selected a political ad which uses the Glittering Generalities technique,
a coffeead that uses Transfer technique, a soda ad that uses the Testimonial technique, and a soup ad
that uses the Name Calling technique.
First, the political ad I choose used the Glittering Generalities technique in which the Donald
Trump used a certain slogan in hopes to sway voters. In this ad Mr. Trump is telling potential
voters that a vote for him is a vote to take back our country. The phrase used is vague and may not
mean the same to you as it does to me. McClintock states, The ads for politicians and political
causes often use glittering generalities because such buzzwords can influence votes (698).

It ruminates on the responsibilities of fatherhood and motherhood, in a sense, since Mary Shelley is
the mother of all the text s characters.
The morality of creating a life without the help of the birds and the bees is a troubling thought to
many, an exciting thought for some, and an opportunity for power for the wicked. Mankind has
always been perplexed by how the world and its people came to be. Whether one is a believer, an
atheist, or someone in between, the questions of the universe have a way of robbing the curious of
sound sleep. Shelley writes about how frightful it would be to compete as a human with the Creator
of the world. The weight that this places on the individual both challenges the humanity of that
person and the divine of the Creator. For those who believe in a God, the thought of being in
competition with something that is omnipresent and omnipotent is dumbfounding and foolhardy.
Man s relationship with a higher power has been rocky, to say the least. Many dictators and the
like have tried to be gods themselves by attempting to exterminate whole groups of people, as well
as conquer the entirety of globe. From Victor Frankenstein trying to imbue his own version of life
into a body, to Hitler trying to commit genocide, it seems as if God has a way of winning in the
end. It just proves how humans should not challenge the divine of the Creator, as Victor does,
without fully considering the consequences.

Martin Luther King Justice And Injustice Essay
One wonders if justice is a product of rational thinking or is it merely an evolved primal mode of
survival of our ancestors reflecting in their use of discriminating judgment as they moved from
place to place, facing the challenges of their times? His desires, needs, and ambitions, being limited,
he was content in flowing with the moment; moral rightness was natural to him.The prehistoric man
hunted when he was hungry, sought shelter when he felt the need to rest or save himself from the
onslaught of the inclement weather or prey; using only as much natural resources as in its complete
rightfulness. He took from nature only as much as he needed and not going beyond his needs;
thereby preserving the environment, and knowingly or unknowingly exhibited a certain sense of
creating a rightful environment; the need to preserve nature and not destroy it unlike the example

Justice is the power of making fine distinctions, which plays a very crucial role in manifesting the
desires; it affects all. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the most influential civil right activist of
America, very rightly once said, Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere...whatever
affects one directly, affects all indirectly (Jacobus 378). This perhaps should be the motivation
for every person to think and act right; directing their desires towards the right path. Henry
David Thoreau asserts that it is more important to develop a respect for the right, rather than a
respect for law, for people s obligations are to do what is right (Jacobus 306 307). His refusal to
pay the taxes for the Mexican American war is a reflection of these thoughts, which leads him later

on the anti feminicide movement in Cuidad Juarez as the art functioned as a communicator
between the women of Cuidad Juarez and the outside world. The art not only communicated the
problem in the city but helped give context to the problem and excited enough emotion in the

Moreover, researcher Torgeson and a group of his colleagues, conducted extensive research in 2007
regarding academic literacy for adolescents. Their findings pinpointed six critical factors underlying
proficient reading performance at the late elementary, middle and high school levels. They are:
Fluency of text reading
Vocabulary or the breadth and depth of knowledge about the meaning of words;
Active and flexible use of reading strategies to enhance comprehension;
Background, or prior knowledge related to the content of the text being read;
Higher level reasoning and thinking skills; and
Motivation and engagement for understanding and learning from text (2007, p. 5).
With these critical factors identified, I chose to focus on four components that result in barriers to
comprehension and literacy when not in place. Those include insufficient vocabulary, background
knowledge and motivation and engagement.
Addressing the barriers with research based strategies is the way to improve literacy. According to

The Pros And Cons Of Malware
What Is Malware? You sure have heard before terms such as virus, worm, Trojan or rootkit when
people discuss internet security. These names describe types of programs used by internet
criminals or hackers to hack and take over computers and mobile devices. All of these different
terms can be simply called malware. We can simply say that malware is a software, a computer
program used by hackers to perform malicious actions. In fact, the word malware is a
combination of two words malicious and software. The end goal of most hackers is to install a
malware on your device. And once it s installed, these hackers can potentially take control of that
device. Many people have this wrong idea of malware is being a problem only for Windows
computers. And the reality is, Windows is widely used, which makes it a big target, malware can
attack any computing device, including smartphones and tablets. In fact, the percentage of
malicious software action against mobile devices is steadily growing. (Zeltser, L. 2014) Malware
in these days is no longer created by just curious hobbyists or amateur hackers, but by experienced
internet criminals to help them achieve certain goals. These goals can include stealing... Show more

Postmodern Noir Vs Cyber-Noir
Postmodern noir and Cyber noir
Across all noir periods there exists a unifying set of traits that link them all together and at the core
of that set is the desire to destabilize and unsettle the audience while also portraying a world in
which light and dark are in constant battle. As the 21st century furthers technological advancements
in the film industry the boundaries of what can be noir become even more blurred, giving way to
what many scholars call the post modern neo noir, or postmodern noir era. A fundamental aspect of
postmodernism is a propensity to destabilize the genre s realistic grounding. Postmodern film noir

Knowing exactly which accounts are being debited and which accounts are being credited is
essential to maintaining financial records and keeping the organization on the right track for
success. Modern accounting uses debits and credits through the accounting equation which is used
to determine what accounts are debited and what accounts are credited to keep a harmonious
balance between the debits and credits. The accounting equation is like the groundwork for the

foundations with his first record The Slim Shady EP, and its follow up, The Marshall Mathers LP.
In fact, it was Eminems second place finish finish at the 1997 Rap Olympics that helped land him
on Interscope and, eventually, Dr. Dre s radar. Classic albums and unforgettable singles like Lose
Yourself, Not Afraid and Love the Way You Lie. For the most successful rapper in the world to be

Cars And Their Enemies Of Promise Summary
Is Science Our Enemy?
Science is not only an important role in the human culture, but also (science) helps people in
multifarious ways in today s world. However, people said that science will hurt human, and they
set a block on the scientific road. In the article Enemies of Promise wrote by the professor of
microbiology at University of California, San Francisco who named Bishop, Michael J. He
mentions about even though(although) science already helped people to solve problems, (but)
there are many people still do not support science. Moreover, the author of Cars and Their
Enemies James Q. Wilson is a professor emeritus at UCLA and one of America s mist respected

instead of bicycle or train in his article, but he also mentions about that some people who said that

In our real lives, the society usually improves through science. In the article Cars and Their
Enemies wrote by James Q. Wilson, he talks about how cars bring people conveniences and
improve the society. He also states that car makes people s lives freer and more pleasurable
(Wilson ). As everybody know, the United States is a country on wheels, especially in Southern
California. Cars are very important for a person who lives in the suburbs of Southern California,
students need them to go to school, ladies need it to go to the mall, and guys need it to go to
gym. Otherwise, people will have to limit the chooses of their house. Moreover, Wilson also
mentions that people always love to choose transportation based on individual instead of social
preferences. In other words, cars provide convenient living and option to people, and this is what
science brings to people. We should support and respect science instead of adopt a hostile attitude
towards science because of what it did to

Misdemeanor Code
During the course of almost everyone s life, the majority of us have been locked out of
something, whether it was a vehicle, a telephone, or even your house. With these situations,
there can be a couple solutions, for example, if you were locked out of your car you can call a
locksmith or find a metal coat hanger and wiggle it down your window sill and hope you can
unlock it. If you were locked out of your telephone you could wait a certain amount to be able to
re enter your password again. Or in some instances, you can plug your phone into your computer
for a chance to gain extra tries at re entering it or reset it completely. If you were locked out of your
house you could call individual you know with a key, call a locksmith, or you can execute... Show

I would strongly advise against using these methods to break into any property that is not your
own. In addition, the Credit Card method can fracture and eventually break whatever kind of card
you choose to use. Beginning with the Bump Key Method used on a deadbolt style lock you will
first need to insert your modified key. While the key is inserted you will need to turn the key
slightly clockwise and at that instant hit it with the blunt object. This action of hitting the lock
makes the pins in the lock tumbler jump if you turn the key at the exact right moment will
consequently allow the key to be able to turn and the deadbolt will be unlocked. This may need a
couple of times for it to work due to it taking some practice to learn. In the unfortunate event that
this method cannot unlock your deadbolt style lock, you may have a deadbolt style lock which
has a protective mechanism against this type of forced entry. With the Credit Card method, you
will begin by holding the doorknob. Once you have a positive hold on the knob you will insert
the corner of your credit card or any other piece of card shaped strong plastic. At that moment
you should begin wiggling it from the top of the lock until you bring the card between the lock
and the door and you will know when you have it due to there will be a click sound. Soon after
the click sound, you should be able to push on the door and it should open even though the door
itself is still

Cruelty And Violence In Grimm s Fairy Tales
Tales were a dominant part of everyone s life for countless years. The most famous tales today
come from Disney, but they were not quite created by them. A considerable amount of these stories
originate from the Grimm brothers, these particular stories are surrounded with violence, cruelty
and monsters. The creation of these types of tales are to scare children. Just as important is the
narration of scary stories and other stories.
A large majority of stories are used to scare children. There was a tremendous amount of violence,
abuse and cruelty in the Grimm brothers fairy tales, In many folk tales and oral traditions, these
predators are imaginary creatures such as trolls, ogres and giants who are used to to keep children
away from dangerous situations (Davis Boidinot, Violence ans Fear in Folktales) .These stories
scared children to teach a lesson on different topics relevant to the situation. These lessons can

They told stories of celebrations or a large gathering of people for entertainment. It was
considered a gift if someone had the ability to tell a story. The narrator needed to do several
things to be considered a good narrator, to keep his listeners in suspense, the storyteller had
several tricks in his bag ... He supported his words by the mimicry of his face and by appropriate
gestures. .. He also used the different intonations of voice ... (Ms. Boudreau, notes). To add to
this challenge, the storytellers shared the stories orally; the oral tradition was a major part of
the story. Oral narration was really part of life: people told stories from all kinds of contexts at
the loom, in the field, with the needle or adze or brush in hand. What you did ... And next to
ordinary people, professional storytellers of all kinds of tales told tales in the market place and the
palace. (Rob Parkinson, History of Story telling) Narration was a big deal for those

Why Is Tim Tebow Controversial
Tim Tebow is a Minor League Baseball player. He had switched from the National Football
League to play baseball for the Minor League team of the New York Mets. He had switched sports
because the Patriots wanted him to change his position from quarterback. He told them that he
couldn t picture himself as anything other than quarterback before he made the switch. When Tim
Tebowswitched there was a big controversy on why he switched. Many football fans believed that
he had only switched because he had enough money to and because he was famous enough to do
so. One of his quotes reads, I don t know what my future holds but I know who holds my future.

Tim Tebow has tried to explain himself many times to multiple news stations and in multiple
newspapers but many of the football fans just aren t okay with what he is saying. This whole
controversy could become very violent, very fast if it s not resolved soon. Anyone that is involved
including Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow s family, and even football fans could all get seriously injured
over the different opinions on TIm Tebow switching.
The switch affected the football community so much because they just lost one of the greatest
football players to the New York Mets Minor League Baseball team. Tim Tebow was awarded the
Heisman Trophy in 2007 with the Florida Gators. He also played baseball at Florida as an
outfielder and hit .494. He was phenomenal at both sports but he went with football. Later on,
when they tried to get him to switch positions he retired and decided to play baseball again. The
baseball community was ecstatic when he hit a homerun his first at bat in the Minors. Tim Tebow
is currently hitting .213 and playing outfield for the Columbia fireflies. His final stats as an NFL
quarterback are 17 tds, 9 int, 2,422 yds, and a 75.3

Why Should The Uk Constitution Uncodified And Should...
Do you agree that the UK constitution is uncodified and should remain so?
Uncodified constitutions are not written down in a single document. The United Kingdom is one of
only three countries in the world which has not written down its constitution in a single document.
The UK constitution can be sourced by looking at the Acts of Parliament, prerogative powers,
constitutional conventions, case law and EU law.
Many would argue that the UK constitution should become codified. The Liberal Democrats have
adopted establishing a written constitution as party policy. If the UK adopted a written constitution
it would help improve and clarify many legal disputes as the rules of the constitution would be
written down for courts to analyse and make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps if a written constitution was created there would be too much difficulty in reading the text
and trying to discover the literal meaning of each part. Problems with drafting and deciding on the
content of the constitution may arise. It is also argued that there is no need to draft a constitution
when the UK s constitutional arrangement has served it well for several hundred years. Professor
Barber recently stated it is hard to see what we will gain by undertaking the exercise. It may turn out
that a written constitution is harder to change than an uncodified one and this would create huge
obstacles for the UK government as the constitution must evolve and progress with the times. This
issue can be seen in the US constitution, where the second amendment gives citizens the right to
keep and bear arms . This has created a huge divide in the USA, with increasing incidents of gun
crime. Perhaps there is no need to even question the adequacy of the constitution.
Having taken both arguments into consideration, I do agree that the UK constitution is uncodified
and should remain so. There is perhaps room for some more reforms, but I think the constitution
has served the UK well for a long time and this should not be altered. Although, I do understand
why some may want to have a written

The Meditation Health Benefits Of The World
Mediation is an ancient method that practices deep concentration of the mind and it has recently
made its way back into our modern society. By participating in the age old activity one opens their
mental and physical wellbeing to multiple benefits. It did to my mind what going to the gym did to
my body said Dr. Hedy Kober, a neuroscientist who studies the effects of meditation, it made it both
stronger and more flexible. (Meditation Health Benefits). Meditation is a practice that may train
one s mindto be at a state of consciousness and wholeness. Throughout history Buddhist monks and
other eastern religions have been utilizing this practice for religious purposes, however recently
individuals have been testing it out for themselves. One does not have to mediate for religious
purposes, this phnaoman can be used to lower stress levels, cure anxietyand panic disorders, learn to
handle stressful situations better, and help to control anxiety, sharpen one s mind, improve memory
and critical thinking and reverse depression. The Buddhist religion is what shined the light on the
process of mediation from the start. Buddha, the head of the Buddhist religion, first began to spread
his teachings in 500 B.C (Iml.jou.ufl.edu). His teachings did not begin to educate the rest of the
world until the mid 20th century (Iml.jou.ulf.edu). After Buddha s teachings became more
widespread other religions begun to incorporate different forms of mediation into their own
teachings as well

What Is The Similarities Between The Hapolis And Hagia Sophia
I decided to compare the Pantheon and Hagia Sophia. The Pantheon is in Rome, Italy and the Hagia
Sophia is located in Istanbul, Turkey previously Constantinople. I chose these structures because the
construction of domes fascinates me. How the domes were constructed is explained in the text, yet
the concept still baffles me how people were actually able to build domes with the technology
present then and that the domes did not collapse on themselves.
The primary similarity between the two works are the massive domes topping them. The second
similarity is that both the Pantheon and the Hagia Sophia served as a place of worship. The
Pantheon was dedicated to all the Roman gods, then was later donated to the Pope and used as a
church. The Hagia Sophia was originally a church commissioned by the Byzantine emperor,
Justinian. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were riots which led to Hagia being destroyed. Emperor Justinian had Anthemius Isidorus
rebuilt it. The Hagia Sophia supported the dome using pendentives. The central dome sits on top
of a ring of windows which gives a mystical effect that it is floating on heavenly light and not
masonry. The light shines off the mosaics and marble walls and floor defining the space. The
dome is 108 feet across and 180 high. Its interior has colored stones from around the world along
the floors and walls. It has Christian mosaics on the walls. The use of pendentives made buttresses,
large internal northern and southern walls, and eastern and western half domes to necessary. The
pendentives transfer the weight from the dome to the piers beneath instead of to the walls. The
walls were concealed and not sufficient suggests although the scale and monumentality of the
Hagia Sophia were similar to Roman the design was not according to Roman ways. Bricks were
used instead of concrete, it included columns and buttresses, it has eight supporting piers, and
semicircular half domes , while the Pantheon did

Should Flag Desecration Be Allowed
Protesting is one of the many freedoms of being an American citizen. Although there are
freedoms, I believe flag desecration shouldn t be allowed as a form of protest. Flag desecration
should not be allowed because it is very disrespectful toward our veterans and our country, and it
shows how you abuse your rights and freedoms as a citizen. Veterans fight and die for the freedoms
and rights that the people of the United Stateshave which is why one should never disrespect an
American veteran. Veterans fight for that flag everyday of their lives because war sticks with them
forever. If you are disrespecting the American flag, then you are disrespecting our veterans. Flag
desecration can affect some veterans and hurt them a lot. When they realize they fought for and
protected people that don t give anything back to them but disrespect, it can hurt a lot. Flag
desecration not only shows disrespect towards our veterans, but it shows disrespect towards our

people that allow you to have those freedoms and rights. It also disrespect our country because it
makes us look bad as a whole to other countries out there like Russia and middle eastern countries.

What A Truly Good Person Muhammad
after birth leaving Khadija and Muhammad with four daughters (Stewart, 36). Muhammad and
Khadija took in Jafar and Ali sons of Abu Talib (Stewart, 36). In order to understand what a truly
good person Muhammad was the reader must know the true depth of his humanity and
benevolence as evidenced by the following text. Zayd Ibn was a slave who was given as a gift to
Muhammad(Stewart, 37). After Zayd Ibn came to Muhammad s home the boy s biological father
located him and asked Muhammad to let the boy return to his home (Stewart, 37). Zayd Ibn
rejected his father s wish and asked to stay with Muhammad s family because he loved it there
(Stewart, 37). Muhammad was so pleased by Zayd Ibn s admiration for his family that he freed
the boy from slavery and formally adopted him (Stewart, 37). Muhammad had also freed his slave
Baraka and even arranged a marriage for her (Stewart, 37). After the death of Baraka s husband she
returned to Muhammad (Stewart, 37). Muhammad and his large family welcomed Baraka into their
family (Stewart, 37). Earlier the preceding text discussed the mistreatment of slaves by the rich in
Mecca. Muhammad s kindness is evident in the fact that his freed slaves wanted to remain in his
household.
Muhammad often sought out solitude in the hills of Mecca. During the month of Ramadan
Muhammad would sometimes spend all of the days and nights in the peaceful solitude of the hills
(Stewart, 39). It was on Mount Hira in Mecca that Muhammad experienced a

Anabolic Steroids In The Sports World
In today s sports world, performance enhancing drugs have become more and more of a
problem. Famous athletes with records upon records do not always play by the rules. Celebrities
with countless amounts of fans and admires turn out to be nothing but a cheater. These athletes
are paid millions of dollars to simply perform, entertain, and follow the rules of their respected
sport. Performance enhancing drugs (PED s) have changed the way we look at athletes and their
legacies. One of the most common PEDs used in the sports world is anabolic steroids. Of course a

Essay about The Differences Between Islam and Christianity
The Differences Between Islam and Christianity
On the surface, Islam and Christianity appear to have very little in common, however, as you get
deeper into areas such as rituals, beliefs, ethics, founders, and sacred objects, the two show strong
mutual similarities, particularly in the fundamental areas, while being totally different. In this essay
I will compare and contrast many of the facets that make up the worlds largest and most recognized
religions, Christianity and Islam.
The word Islam means surrender or submission, submission to the will of Allah, the one God.
Muslims are those who have submitted themselves. The basic creed of Islam is brief: There is no
God but Allah, and Muhammad is the Prophet of Allah. Islam teaches ... Show more content on

In Islam, they also believe in forgiveness, another basic Christian principle, Islam teaches that God
is always ready to pardon the individual and restore him to the sinless state in which he started life.
In Christianity this is called being born again .
Both Islam and Christianity have practices or duties that are central to the life of there religious
community. Catholics are expected to take part in as many of the Seven Sacraments as possible,
while Muslims are expected to practice all of the Five Pillars Of Islam. Both Muslims and
Christians are monotheists, believing in the same god, referred to as Allah by the Muslims and
God by Catholics. In this sense Islam and Christianity are considerably intertwined, appearing to
come from the same beginning. Both Islam and Christianity are based primarily on the lives and
teachings of men sent by God. In Christianity, Jesus was the son of God, sent down to earth to
spread the word of the Lord to the people, and ultimately die a brutal death so that this people may
reach eternal peace in heaven. Christians praise Jesus suffering for them as well as for his
teachings and for the miracles he performed to assist the needy. Despite the fact that Islam and
Christianity share a mutual God, Muslims do not believe that

  • 2. Learning And Development Processes Of A Child The learning and development processes of a child have been debated for years, with no one theory sticking out as the best explanation as to how and why we learn. Looking at the behaviourist and humanist views of learning and development and the key theorists within them, you can see just how different they can be with their explanations of this. The key behaviourist views on learning are that learning is shaped by different incentives presented to the child. External stimulus shapes learning, as it prompts a response and increases the likelihood of the learner repeating the behaviour. Behaviourists believe development happens as a process of learning and that it has nothing to do with pre determined stages relating to a child s age and or mental ability. The behaviourist view works on a mix of operant and classical conditioning, operant conditioning is a process of learning where behaviour is controlled by consequences such as positive and negative reinforcements and positive and negative punishments. Classical conditioning is when the learner simply responds to external stimuli in a deterministic manner (Jordan, Carlile, and Stack, 2008). Pavlov, a behaviourist, looked deeply into the idea of classical conditioning and involuntary responses to stimuli. Pavlov looked at the responses of dogs and found that when the dog was presented with food the dog would salivate, which would be an unconditional response. But, when combined with the ringing of a bell as the food was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... a. Which presynaptic cell must have action potentials to produce one or more action potentials in the postsynaptic cell? Excitatory presynaptic cell must have action potentials to produce one or more action potentials in the postsynaptic cell because they promote depolarization of membrane which is needed to cause an action potential. On the other hand Inhibitory presynaptic cell promote hyperpolarization which goes against producing an action potential. b. What phenomena must take place for the small postsynaptic potentials to reach threshold and produce action potentials? Summation of Excitatory postsynaptic potential and Inhibitory postsynaptic potential must take place. More specifically spatial summation, which means that all the types of potential must add up to be greater (less negative) than the threshold potential of 55mv for an action potential to occur in the postsynaptic neuron. c. If the frequency of action potentials in this presynaptic cell (#10a) increases, what happens to the number of action potentials in the postsynaptic cell? If the frequency of action potentials in the excitatory presynaptic cell increases than the number of action potentials in the postsynaptic cell will increase as well. This is due to temporal summation of EPSP at very frequent times. This causes the postsynaptic cell to produce many action potential in succession. d. Hence to manage their vendors and ensure processes and procedures are followed, B amp;Q come up with code of conduct (B amp;Q Operational Standards for Supply Chains) for all their vendors. The code of conduct is based on the international labour and envirnmental standards set by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conventions which factories and worksites of all vendors throughout the world need to comply to. In summary, vendors need to let B amp;Q have full visibility of the enitre supply chain and fulfill and obey the code of conduct criteria at all facilities. Any failure to meet the nine Critical Failure Points (CFPs) will result in B amp;Q not buying or purchasing their products. Through this code of conduct, we can deduce that B amp;Q adopts a possession of knowledge rather than practice of knowledge. B amp;Q receives knowledge about labour and environmental guidelines from ILO conventions and uses the basic context to write down or capture in an information technology (IT) system which is then made available as an organizational resource B amp;Q Operational Standards for Supply Chains. • 5. The Components Elements Of Education Education comes in different philosophies and is a crucial element in every civilization. When a country is oppressed, one of the first things the oppressor tries to take over and get control is their education. The reason is because with education, one can give or withhold any kind of information and shape the nation in the way they see appropriate. With the exception of oppressed individuals, educationteaches their society who they are, what is the nature of their environment, and how does the context exist in the in the environment? Through control, the government is able to hold power over the component elements of education. The component elements of education include the teacher, learner, curriculum, learning environment, methodology, desired results, the teacher student relationship, and the teacher community relationship. Three philosophies of pedagogythat could be divided into the component elements of education are the classical traditional/conservative philosophy, liberal progressive, and critical pedagogy. Although a few aspects within the elements are similar, they are very different in their approach of teaching philosophies. The classical traditional/conservative philosophy, liberal progressive, and critical pedagogy compare within the curriculum, but their ideologies of teacher, learner, and desired results are drastically different. Proximity also mattered because it reduced shipping costs and lags, and because poorer neighbors sometimes benefited from trade concessions. While China became an export powerhouse across the board, greater regionalization was the dominant motif of changes in the apparel trade in the 1990s. Turkey, North Africa, and sundry Eastern European countries emerged as major suppliers to the European Union; Mexico and the Caribbean Basin as major suppliers to the United States; and China as the dominant supplier to Japan (where there were no quotas to restrict imports).3 World trade in apparel and textiles continued to be regulated by the Multi Fiber Arrangement (MFA), which had restricted imports into certain markets (basically the United States, Canada, and Western Europe) since 1974. Two decades later, agreement was reached to phase out the MFA s quota system by 2005, and to further reduce tariffs (which averaged 7% to 9% in the major markets). As of 2002, some warned that the transition to the post MFA world could prove enormously disruptive for suppliers in many exporting and importing countries, and might even ignite demands for managed trade. Electric Charge And The Electric Field EXPERIMENT #1: ELECTRIC CHARGE AND THE ELECTRIC FIELD PHY 2092 10 By: Kamal Aljohani Date Performed: 12 January 2015 Date Submitted: 30 January 2015 Lab Partners: Martynas Mickus Sean Small Instructor: Robert J Lucia INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this experiment is to analyze the static electricity, electrical charge, charge grounding, inducing charge, and electric polarization. We used two wands that created positive and negative charges when rubbed together one is blue and the other is white. When we used both wands, the electrometer almost read zero volts throughout the duration of the experiment. This proves that the negativity of the particles on the blue wand were equal to the positive charge of the particles on the white wand; so it cancelled each other out. While using the both wands we encountered an error. The voltage should have been zero when the wands was out the pail and not touching the pail; however the electrometer reading was 3 volt. This is most likely due to a random error in measurement due to a faulty electrometer or pail. The electrometer may have not been sensitive enough to pick up all the charged particles when the wands were not out the pail we should have repeated this so we can get accurate readings. • 9. Racism In The Great Gatsby Essay Tom counts himself at the top of the Nordic race . He asserts that Civilization s going to pieces [...] It s up to us who are the dominant race to watch out or these other races will have control of things . After reading The Rise of the Colored Empires , he introduces scientific racism. He says the white race will be will be utterly submerged. It s all scientific stuff; it s been proved . In one of his comments, we find that Tom, Nick, and Jordan belong to the Nordic racewhen Nick first visits the Buchanans. (Fitzgerald 11) It is noteworthy that Nick and Gatsby find few blacks in a car on their way to New York. Tarah Demant in his thesis paper claims The humor Nick finds in this driving scene is that the passengers in the limousine, just as clearly different and inferior, and The three modish Negroes, two bucks and a girl in the limousine are clearly racially different, no matter how closely they can imitate the type of white privilege that marks Gatsby in this scene (198). Physical differences between whites and blacks are clearly evident here. The impact of prevailing social stratificationis multi dimensional in the novel. It is noted that social stratification has great effects on racism. We find that Tom is a racist, and his racist attitude is due to his high social status. He attacks Gatsby and questions about his fake claim of an Oxford graduate to break the intimacy between her wife Daisy and Gatsby. He knows that revealing the truth is the only way to create a negative impact on Daisy s mind about Gatsby. Another interpretation can be taken from Tom s behavior is that Tom shows his aristocratic, rude and arrogant attitude. Indicating Gatsby as a bootlegger , Mr. Nobody , he shows hardly any sympathy and courtesy to Gatsby. His attitude toward Gatsby in such way would be impossible if he belongs to an inferior class. Tom is also proud of his Nordic race . His intention is to neglect the inferior people for their skin color. He is not a man to take any change easily. He cannot think of intermarriage between black and white (Fitzgerald 103).Even Nick shows his racist behavior, pointing to the passengers three modish Negroes . Racism toward the blacks is found, and this reaction ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a variety of different reasons why employers layoff their employees, and the laws in many states allow them to at any time as long as the reason does not contravene state or federal law. Being let go from your job can happen by firing or layoff, and though neither is, usually, desired, the layoff is typically the method that carries less of a stigma. Get the employee s input on this process and allow them to have a say in how those new responsibilities are addressed. In an article Layoff: A Four Letter Word in the Economy Martin (1998 2014) states that, It has been difficult in recent years to find good people. However, sometimes it is better to have a position vacant than to hire poorly especially in management. One bad manager can take down tens to thousands with them (Martin, 1998 2014, para.10). Maintain a flexible workforce, hire contractors for short term needs, and hire temporary or seasonal help for short term work. Hire part timers who are willing to work only during the peak periods of need. Offer job sharing options to current employees (para11). Create a contingency plan. It is better to have well thought out and developed plan over a quickly devised scheme. Creon As A Tragic Hero In Antigone, By Sophocles A tragedy is a relative term for great sadness, but in the times of the Greeks and the Romans, the word tragedy had a slightly different meaning. The character must experience a loss in fortune and suffer beyond what they deserve. In the story Antigone was written by Sophocles, Creon can be defined as a tragic heromore so than Antigone. Essay on Vision of Heaven in the Poetry of Dickinson Vision of Heaven in the Poetry of Dickinson Emily Dickinson never became a member of the church although she lived in a typical New England Puritan community all her life. The well known lines, Some keep the Sabbath going to church / I keep it staying at Home (P 236 [B]; J 324),1 suggest her defiance against the existing church and Christianity of her time in particular. And her manner of calling the Deity by such terms as Burglar, Banker (P 39; J 49), and a jealous God (P 1752; J 1719) clearly discloses her antagonism against the Christian God. Sometimes leaders must apply a motivation or leadership theory in order to motivate their employees. (Fisher, 2009) Motivational theories are important for leaders in social worker. One of the most important tasks of a leader is to stimulate productivity among employees. This requires motivation. Employees work in the social work field for a variety of reasons. Therefore, it is important for leaders to understand what motivates employees. The three main motivational theories include Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs, Hertzberg s Two Factors and Motivator Hygiene Theory, and McClelland s Trichotomy of Needs. (Fisher, 2009) Leaders can use Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs to motivate employees. The motivational needs in this theory form a pyramid. Leaders must recognize that employees may be on different levels of needs from one another. The needs at the bottom of the pyramid must be met before the needs at the higher levels. In order for this theory to work, leaders must identify the level of need that each employee is currently facing. The first level of needs is the physiological level. This level has motivators of food, shelter, and clothing. The second level of needs is security. Leaders can provide this level of need by ensuring job security. Once these companies finish their research, they create advertisements that appeal to the masses. The basic propagandatechniques that McClintock writes about are Name Calling, Glittering Generalities, Transfer, Testimonial, Plain Folks, Card Stacking, and Bandwagon. Each one of these propaganda techniques is used in specific ways by advertisers to sell their product or service to consumers. I have selected a political ad which uses the Glittering Generalities technique, a coffeead that uses Transfer technique, a soda ad that uses the Testimonial technique, and a soup ad that uses the Name Calling technique.
