Analysis Of Benjamin Franklin s God Helps Those Who...
Autobiography Essay on Benjamin Franklin God helps those who helps themselves is a famous
quote by Benjamin Franklin. He exemplifies this in The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. In
this book, Franklin gives an account of his personal life to show others how he improved
throughout his life. He first started writing the autobiography for his son, but eventually turn it
into a story for others to imitate. He describes his life, virtues, and public service to others. The
Autobiography opens with a letter to Ben Franklin s son, William Franklin, who was the royal
governor of New Jersey at the time. Franklin writes the letter while on vacation in Twyford.
Franklin says to William, Imagining it may be equally agreeable to you to know the
circumstances of my life, many of which you are yet unacquainted with... I sit down to write
them to you (5). His purpose of writing his son would be to tell him personal accounts of his life
that could benefit him in ways of motivation, wisdom, and simply to show him how far he has
improved in his life. He wishes to tell him how he rose from poverty and obscurity to a higher
degree of reputation in the world. Furthermore, this would not be his only purpose, which changes
with the tone and style of his writing Franklin decides to write a complete autobiography to
exemplify his self improvements. He shares with him how he enjoyed his life, and if the
opportunity to live the exact life arose he would change some errors. Ones which were

Spastic Paraplegia Essay
Hereditary spastic paraplegias (HSPs) are genetically heterogeneous disorders, which are
characterized by lower extremity spasticity and weakness. HSP is often caused by mutations in
SPG genes, but it may be also produced by inborn errors of metabolism [1,2]. Next generation
sequencing (NGS) is helpful for investigating patients in whom geneticsdoes not fully meets the
clinical presentation. We performed NGS in adult twins and found compound pathogenic mutations
in MTHFR and POLG1 genes, which were consistent with metabolic changes, including
hyperhomocysteinemia decreased activity of MTHFR and mitochondrial respiratory chain.

The 1760T and 752T alleles were in complete linkage disequilibrium, in cis position, in previous
reports [4,5]. The genomic position of the third mutation, c.156_158dup (p.Gln55dup, n. 1184_
1183insTGC in HGVS nomenclature) encompasses several deletion/insertion variations ( /TGC
/TGCTGC/TGCTGCTGC). The digenic mutations in MTHFR and POLG1 were consistent with
the biochemical and metabolic abnormalities. Fasting serum homocysteine was 150 Вµmol/l
before treatment and decreased below 70 Вµmol/L after treatment, in both cases. Analyses on skin
fibroblasts from one of the patients showed decrease of MTHFR activity (1.9 nmol/mg/h vs 6.1
nmol/mg/h in control fibroblasts). The MTHFR p.Arg157Gln mutation is located near the binding
site of riboflavin. Consistently, adding riboflavin in culture medium produced a 3 fold increase of
MTHFR activity in the patient s fibroblasts. The normal cellular uptake of labelled cobalamin

My Grandparents Speech
Many people only have the privilege of seeing their grandparents on birthdays and other holidays.
Luckily for me, I see mine almost every week. My grandparents, specifically my mom s parents,
have both played a large role in shaping me into the person I am today. My grandpa, or Pa ,
especially, has been more of a father to me than my own. He has held an essential role in my life,
and is continually shaping me each day. My grandpa is a strong willed and old fashioned man. He
likes to do things his way. In addition, he always works hard and provides for his family.
Throughout the course of my rather short life, my grandpa has taught me many lessons. Here
are three stories that stick out to me the most. They taught me to be adventurous, to work hard,
and to get back up after failure. The whole family was there, as my grandpa decided to make a
big purchase. He was buying a 2005 Chevy SSR convertible, and five year old me was ecstatic.
After a long night of waiting for all the details to be worked out, the car was his. Me, being the
bratty kid I was, jumped in and said, I get the first ride! On my first ride, I remember the roar of
the engine. That sounds like kitties purring. I said. My grandpa laughed and said, You are right.
Those are kitties! I exclaimed, Well then make those kitties purr! He laughed and revved the engine
as I stuck my hands out into the wind, laughing and yelling as I did so. The fun continued as we
continued to laugh and yelled, Faster!

The First Round Of Tournament Play For The Silver Division
We officiated the first round of tournament play for the silver division. The teams playing were
Northern Impact 16 2s team and Crex 15 s team. The first set was uneventful; however, the
second set issues started to arise. Northern Impact had run a 5 1 in the first set and the second set,
but with different setters. Issues started to arise as I called them first on being out of rotation as
the setter was in the incorrect spot before the server on the opposing team had made contact. I then
proceeded to call her on multiply carries. After the second time calling her, I turned to her coach
and told her that the playerin question had to quicken up her contact as she was almost catching the
ball, bringing it to her chest, and then throwing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically the parents being inappropriate and the players foul language and attitude. When I
found the site director, I explained to her the calls I made and my reasoning behind them. She
said she knew which setter I was referring to and said that she had recently run a setting clinic to
try to fix these issues. I also spoke about my concern over the parents behavior. I stated that I was
disappointed that parents were acting this way and that I felt that the situation was inappropriate. I
also expressed concern that my player had felt threatened to have an upset parent approach her
while she was officiating. After speaking with her, I returned to the gym as we had to play Howard
Lake.
We played Howard Lake and won the first set. When we were about 13 points into the second
match, I had another Northern Impact parent approach me while we were playing a match, when
we weren t playing their team, and accuse my girls of making racist and threatening comments to a
Northern Impact player. I know that this is untrue simply by the fact that both Chad and I were by
the girls the entire match and would have heard any interaction that would have taken place. I told
the parent that this was neither the appropriate place or time to be having this discussion and I
would happily discuss her concerns after our match. She continued to yell at me

Metaatropic Dwarfism Essay
Metatropic dwarfism
Metatropic dysplasia, also known as metatropic dwarfism is a very rare disease in humans that is
often deadly and identifiable after birth or into the infant stages of a baby. It has been discussed
that MTD is in part caused by mutations in the TRVP4 gene. This is located at 12q24.1 which is
the long (q) arm of chromosome 12 at position 24.1, base pairs 109,784,087 to 109,833,407.
There have been approximately 81 cases reported so far with odds of 1/1,000,000. A few cases
have been severe to the point of endangering the mother s life. This type of dwarfism affects the
human skeleton in such a way that affects normal growth. Body proportions are abnormal, and a
child will have unusual features such as shorter limbs, a narrow chest, and bones that have not
developed correctly. Several facial deformities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Metatropic dysplasia is inherited and can be passed down, meaning that is its autosomal
dominant. It is also possible that there will be reoccurrences between siblings, though it is
variable over time. Testing of the TRPV4 gene is available through CTGT and other corporations
that specialize in genetic sequencing. Prenatal ultrasound scans will show narrow spinal canals
and shortening of long bones and the supporting structure. Treatment of metatropic dysplasia after
birth is possible but its effectiveness varies from each case and it is often an aggressive and labor
intensive path to follow. Doctors main goals for patients with MTD are to establish satisfactory
respiratory and pulmonary functions as well as reducing the amount of skeletal deformity. This may
require several surgeries that have their own risks and outpatient treatment plan. If doctors can keep
patients with MTD alive for longer periods of time, they will be able to determine which methods of
treatment are the most effective. Since this is a genetic mutation, each case will require their oun
unique set of tests, since there may be more than one contributing

Zip Codes Target Market
Additionally to the Market segmentation, many retailers and businesses use the segmentation as a
marketing strategy and a factor when determining such as the location of a store, or the products
that are going to be sold. Some of the strategic methods that are well known and utilized by many
businesses are the Geographic, Demographic, Psychographic, and the Behavioral segmentation. I
will focus more on the Geographic segmentation which creates data from the consumers zip codes,
neighborhood population and household income, and much more. Overall every retailer s focus is
to have a successful business, and when doing that you must know who you are targeting and
undergo research about those consumers who will be purchasing your products. This... Show more

But with looking at the difference in income and seeing some of the similarities in Occupation, I
noticed that just like in places like Florida, although the someone in Florida might have the same
occupation as another in the Bronx, there is a difference in the amount of how much one gets paid.
I think I was a bit more astonished and disappointed in looking at my zip code 10460 in the
Bronx because I realized that we have a lot more poor people with very low income. The
population is much higher than the zip code 10577 in Westchester, NY and 68178 in Douglas,
NE, with a median income of only $23,300. The population is a lot less in 10577 with less than

The Stacy Peralta s Film Called The Crips And Bloods
In the 1950 s when segregation laws were still very present in America and racism was at its
peak, America did not care that they were ruining the lives of African Americans everywhere.
America also did not know that they had created two very dangerous monsters who would later
run the streets of Los angles, using murder to do so. In Stacy Peralta s documentary film called
The Cripsand Bloods: Made in America , gangs and gangviolence is explained and shown in great
detail. This documentary is used to attempt to bring attention to these gang s brutal way of life
and what caused this monstrosity. It is also used to bring attention to what can be done to
prevent any further gang violence and possibly help bring in funds for programs that help with
this cause, since they receive no federal money. This documentary is successful in doing this by
using raw footage to create a feeling to some degree of sympathy for the people involved with gang
activity. They also use every day people who have had their lives forever impacted because of gang
violence.
Using the three rhetorical appeals in essential to this documentary and its purpose. The ethos form
is very important here because it sets up good credibility and background for these gangs and their
members. The documentary starts out by using former gang members Ron, Bird, and Kumasi to
explain how and why these gangs began. Using actual gang members makes this documentary
automatically feel more relatable. The use of

Dualism Of Romanticism
The way Blicher portrays the family of the manor is idealistic, which aligns with the dualism of
Romanticism. The dualism of Romanticism puts forth that the ideal should be placed above the
reality (Monrad, 09 26 16, sl. 11). The manor is described as a peaceful place where it seems as
if it were newly white washed and decorated and the trees in the garden have taken on a beautiful
shade of pale green and everyone looks so content (Blicher 11). Miss Sophie can be related to the
Platonic triad: the good, true and beautiful (Monrad, 09 26 16, sl. 11). She has been associated
with the word angel multiple times as mentioned before. Death is also regarded as something that
is necessary which can be seen when Morten calls Jens a fool for... Show more content on

When the maid gave birth to a son, she mentions that the father was a lace pedlar, but the whole
house knows very well who the guilty one is (Blicher 21). Even though the harmonious
environment was maintained, in reality, the environment is chaotic that is filled with adultery.
This is revealed when Jens and Miss Sophie s relationship comes into light. This corresponds to
Blicher s theme of God being distant and the human world is dominated by spite and sexuality.
(Monrad, 10 21 16, sl. 3). Miss Sophie only wanted to live the rest of her life with the one she
loved, but God seemed to not have listened to her prayers. This also applies to Morten as he has
wanted to end his life multiple times throughout the story, but God never answered to his
prayers. Since Blicher was a clergyman, some Christian elements are visible within the short
story. The last entry in Morten s diary further reveals how the Christian religion is tied to the
short story. This entry consists of some passages from the Bible to indicate how Morten s fate is
related to God. He feels that he has wasted his life asking God what has become of these years
these many thousands of days? Where are the delights of my youth? (Blicher 32). In this entry,
Morten reflects on his life on how his tender soul shone just as brightly and merrily as the moon ,
but has turned as dark as the moor due to his encounter with Miss Sophie (Blicher 33). The quote

Nietzche s Master and Slave Morality
In Of the Genealogy of Morality, Nietzsche sought to provide context for what he saw as the
central value system of the society in which he lived: slave morality. Nietzsche saw morality as
reflective of the conditions in which its proponents were brought up. He saw the roots of slave
morality in oppression and slavery, and posits that it grew as a reaction to the morality of the
masters of the time. What follows is a simplified account of Nietzsche s master slave dichotomy,
and what he saw as the dire consequences for human progress should the pervasiveness of slave
morality be allowed to remain at the expense of the master. I will argue that although religion and
slave morality may have had significant influence in Nietzsche s day, his... Show more content on

In contrast to the consequentialism of master morality, slave morality can be seen as a
deontological morality. It determines an action s goodness by looking at the actor s intention: to
slave moralists, the ends do not, necessarily, justify the means. The nature of acts and their actors
plays an important role in Nietzsche s discussion of morality. Slaves believe in and strive for
freedom and see evil in the masters oppression of them, as they believe they perform these acts of
oppression of their own free will. They believe that, because the masters are free agents, they should
be held responsible for their actions and criticized for them. Nietzsche disputes this view, and
demonstrates his argument using the analogy of the eagles and the lambs:
That lambs dislike great birds of prey does not seem strange: only it gives no ground for
reproaching these birds of prey for bearing off little lambs. And if the lambs say among
themselves: these birds of prey are evil; and whoever is least like a bird of prey, but rather its
opposite, a lamb would he not be good? there is no reason to find fault with this institution of an
ideal, except perhaps that birds of prey might view it a little ironically and say we don t dislike
them at all, these good little lambs; we even love them: nothing is more tasty... .

Literary Devices Of Wrapped In Red
Literary Devices of Wrapped in Red Kelly Clarkson s world famous song Wrapped in Red is a
successful song to America, as well being adapted internationally. Wrapped in Red is an
American song about how much Christmas influences the idea of falling in love in the artist s
point of view. Also, it s about how after many years of having a secret love, she will let her feelings
loose in Christmasday. The artist creates a romantic mood throughout the song, The song includes 3
important literary devices, thoroughly analyzed, that make the song special and a success; imagery,
repetition, and the colors expressed as feelings from the artist, Kelly Clarkson. Although color

Her first statement of imagery was when she stated as her second line in the first verse, Snow is
falling down. This one s not hard to comprehend; it simply means that it s winter time and it s
snowing in her location area. When the artist also stated, So I m at your door with nothing more
than words I ve never said, indicates the pure fear of showing love to somebody you ve known
for years in a friendly manner. In other words, Clarkson is planning to confess her love, but there
s a fear inside her that says, He won t feel the same way. The richest imagery Clarkson has shown
in Wrapped in Red was when she stated, In all this white, you ll see me like you ve never seen me
yet wrapped in red. Even though the idea was not directly clear, and quite hard to understand, the
artist did an incredible job using imagery in this line. Since the time in the song is winter, white
connects to the season because everything is very clear. From the artist s point of view, her secret
love has seen her as nothing more than a friend; everything has been clear between them. Now, the
artist wants to be noticed, and the only way to do that, is to stand out and confess. It s incredible
how rich Clarkson makes her imagery, particularly with the use of colors and

The Effects Of Sporting Events On Soccer 2010
The stadium was shaking with the thunderous cheers of fans supporting their countries. The
excitement grew as coaches gave last minute instructions to their players. The kick off of the
1966 World Cup, held in England, in which Germany versed England, was moments away. The
whistle blew and the match was on. The first ninety minutes of the match were an exciting battle
and the game ended in a 0 0 score; on to overtime! According to an article written Zoe Doherty
During the final, with eleven minutes gone in extra time, Alan Ball crossed to George Hurst
whose subsequent shot cannoned off the underside of the goal and down either just on or over
the goal line. The goal was controversially allowed, and its validity is still questioned to this day.
(Goal line technology in soccer 2010) Controversy has always played a major role in the
officiating of sporting events since the official s decisions are based upon their judgments and
observations. Maybe in 1966 that had to be the case, but today, thanks to modern technology, that s
not so. Rather than relying solely on their personal observations to determine a call, soccer officials
are now being assisted by goal line technology, a tool to assist them making their official rulings
during a game. According to the FГ©dГ©ration Internationale de Football Association, known as

Massive numbers meet Einstein machines
Introducing quantum capacities to self programming artificial intelligence is like putting Einstein
in front of a sky sized blackboard. Give such a mind a piece of chalk and the innovations stretch
beyond any conceivable border. Better yet, the more capacity an artificially intelligent persona has
to increase its own intelligence, the greater capacity it has to understand these massive
computations.
Holography and IDEs
With the official inception of Microsoft HoloLen s availability, we have a glimpse at a future where
massive schematics and smart computers can lead us into smart simulations. Consider AI with the
capacity to use HoloLens on their own. Suppose that quantum mechanics can increase the data
capacity of holographic apps like HoloLens allowing for the size of the holography to expand.
Consider then the possibility that these machines can take us into a programmed reality the size of
a small building. This virtual theater projected into the physical space would allow for us to
program our applications with some tangibility. We would be able to engineer our computer
systems with as much physical confidence as construction teams. When something malfunctioned,
we would see it because that part of the visible system would

Hunt Descriptive Writing
Waking up before the rising sun on the morning of the hunt left me feeling groggy with my eyes
slow to open and close when blinking. Being extra quiet to not wake up my mother was a main
challenge, trying to tippy toe around the cabin and dodging the creaky spots in the floor. Prior to
eating breakfast, I began getting dressed. Due to the fact that I was in northern Minnesota, the
weather was bone chilling and the wind would seep right through your layers onto your
unexpecting skin. Once I had put on my long johns, sweatpants, and long sleeve shirt with a tee
shirt on top I began to make my breakfast. I had decided to have scrambled eggs that were cooked
to perfection with the yolk golden mixed in with the pure snow white egg white and flakes of
pepper sprinkled throughout and toast with butter melted onto the crunchy outside making it
soft with homemade strawberry jam spread thick on top. After I had finished my meal I
continued getting ready. In doing so I put on the remainder of my clothes, my sweatshirt and
hunting pants came next followed by my wool socks and winter hunting boots. Next I checked
to make sure my backpack was ready and had all the essentials in it in case something were to
happen. Lastly I grabbed my already loaded sleek black shotgun and put on my heaving winter
coat, hats and gloves. Now I was ready to begin my hunt. Starting out, I was walking slowly down

For my maths coursework I will be conducting an investigation into statistics. I had a choice for

also their likes in terms of sport and subjects at school. I chose not to do this project on that

and may perhaps pursue it as a career. I did not want to do a project on data that I have no interest in.

For my coursework I will be hopefully conducting a total of 3 different investigations into this
survey, though this may change to 2 or 4. My aim is to look for a correlation in the separate
investigations and perhaps if I can draw any conclusions or maybe find a formula or prediction
for a particular investigation that will work for all or most cars. E.g. if from mileage, price when
new and age I can calculate the current second hand price.
My investigation will be:
The frequency of mileage in my sample, if there is a relationship between the second hand price and
age of a car, and finally if there is relationship between the age and percentage loss of a car.
I will be taking a sample of 20 cars; I will take every 5th car in the database. I will show the data in
terms of tables, a tally chart, and by way of bar, and scatter graphs with a line of best fit if
applicable.
To improve my investigation I will take a sample of 5 cars, which will not be included in my final
investigation, but this 5 car sample is to test my investigation techniques, and to allow me to
foresee and problems and practise in investigating statistics.
I will not be able to take all 100 cars and will have to do my investigations on different samples of
the survey, I hope to take 1/5 of the cars, and I will do my investigations on 20 cars. I

Music Censorship is Not Needed
Marilyn Manson. Eminem. Limp Bizkit. Rammstein. All of these musical artists have been
under fire in the past few years by government officials, the media, and activist groups.
Supposedly, their music conveys too violent of a message. The sounds and words these artists
have so carefully crafted have been targeted as the cause for violent acts, especially by young
people. For example, Columbine shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold idolized German
industrial bands such as Rammstein and KMFDM, as well as American shock rocker, Marilyn
Manson. The public has been quick to blame these musicians for violence in the United States.

The government has taken some appropriate steps in making the public aware of the content of
music albums. Very few critics can deny that parental advisory labels are beneficial. Although
adults and children frequently ignore them, at least they make consumers aware of any
potentially offensive content. Parents concerned about extremely violent or offensive music can
outright refuse to buy the CD in question. Alternatively, parents can research and examine the
content. However, stores such as WalMart and K Mart have been known to ask artists to
redesign their album covers or to release an edited version of an album, simply because the
stores feel a CD is potentially offensive. This practice, however, goes a step too far. No store
owner can please all customers. Either sell the CD with the appropriate warning, or choose not to
stock it. Additionally, stores that are so worried about sales figures might consider the fact that such
adult oriented material may attract a larger, slightly older consumer base, one which would be
willing to spend more money on other products.
One argument that is continually pulled into this debate is the First Amendment. According to the
United States Constitution, everyone is entitled to the right to free speech, which is a sacred
American belief. By submitting to censorship, artists are essentially

Compare And Contrast Harry Potter And Odysseus
Homer wrote The Odyssey centuries ago at the 8th Century BCE, yet many themes found are like
modern literature. An example of literature of today s time is J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter and the
Deathly Hallows. Harry Potter goes through difficult tasks to defeat the Dark Lord, Voldemort.
Odysseus is sailing from the battle of Troy back to his home, Ithaca. Poseidon, the God of the sea,
curses Odysseusfor being too arrogant to teach a lesson about being humble. In both books, Harry
Potterand Odysseus go through a series of events for the greater good of society. Harry Potter and
Odysseus face similar journeys when going to the magical world, facing trials, and their return to
the normal world.
Harry Potter and Odysseus both travel through a special threshold to enter the unknown world.
Harry meets up with a group of certified wizards and friends to escape from the mundane world
and re enter the magical world (45 62). Harry almost didn t make it out alive because the Dark
Lord s team of wizards injures Harry. In the Hero s Journey, the crossing of the threshold is how
Harry almost dies to make it into the magical world. In Odysseus case, similar themes pop up. On
page 1045, Odysseus had plundered the stronghold on the proud height of Troy. He travels with his
shipmates back to Ithaca, but an unknown force transports them to the magical world. When

Why Hijab Was Memorable
It was not forgettable for me because it was a big step for me; is that I was going to wear a hijab
where all the public was going to see me. The reason why it is memorable was because it was my

nine. Another reason why it was memorable because the sweetness of the teachers. The teachers
were suppurative and did not judge me because of the hijab. The teacher talked to the students for

Media Credibility In Social Media
Surveys indicate that in 2016, most Americans, 62%, used social media to access news (Pew
Research Center, 2016). Nearly 80% of American journalists use social media (Lee, 2015). Social
media has become a source for both creating and obtaining news (Yamamoto, Nah, Chung, 2017).
As technology changes how people receive news, it also changes how they evaluate credibility (Lee,
2015). Researchinto media credibility has evolved over the years, a simplified definition of media
credibility might be believability, accuracy, and trustworthiness (Calvo Porral. MartГnez
FernГЎndez, Juanatey Boga, 2014). Media credibility focuses on the believability of the news
channel. Source credibility focuses on the senders of the messages (Bucy, 2003).
Several theorists have posited in the evaluation the perception of credibility. The current study
aims to concentrate on methods social media users may develop to evaluate the credibility of the
news they access online as well as how familiarity affects the user s perceptions of credibility.
Research indicates that social media users evaluate credibility based on familiarity with the brand
(Calvo Porral. MartГnez FernГЎndez, Juanatey Boga, 2014). In other words, if a social media user
is familiar with The New York Times, they are more likely to trust the news posted on social
media if it comes from the New York Times. Brand familiarity allows social media users to quickly

Inventory And Inventory Control System
INTRODUCTION:
The more inventory a company has... the less likely they will have what they need. Taichi Ohno
What is Inventory?
Inventory is considered to be the raw materials, work in process goods or completely finished
goods that are a portion of a business s assets that are ready for use or will be ready for sale to
customers.
Possessing huge amount of inventory for longer period of time is not considered to be usually
good for a business because of inventory storage, obsolescence and spoilage costs. On the other
hand, we also need to consider that possessing too little inventory isn t good either, because the
business runs the risk of losing out on potential sales and potential market shares. (1)
In any organization, Inventory Management is a very important concept that is been followed and
there is a dedicated team that looks after the planning, scheduling and flow of inventory. Typically
there are two standard inventory control systems that are followed within organizations for
effective Inventory Management:
Push System: The main ideology of push inventory control systems is forecasting inventory needs
to satisfy customer demands. Here, companies should make a prediction as to which product the
customers would purchase and also determine the quantity of products that will be purchased.
Everything in a push system is decided on basis of a prediction and forecasting and that is the
major flaw in the system. These forecasts are often inaccurate as well as

My Culture Of Trinidad
The culture of Trinidad is very different from my home culture of Findlay, Ohio. However, I did
observe a few similarities including the language. Although you may not be able to tell at first, the
native language in Trinidad is english. The people can be hard to understand because they talk
really fast with a strong dialect. On the other hand, I could go on and on about the differences of
the culture of Trinidadfrom my own. For instance, the locals are very aggressive drivers who
only use road signs as a suggestion. In Trinidad, cutting off other people, driving in and out of
traffic, and occasionally stopping at stop signs and red lights is completely normal. Their
driving is very aggressive, yet every driver that I rode with was very calm. They didn t have the
typical road rage like we do in America. There is always a lot of traffic in Trinidad, especially in
the morning and in the late afternoons. The reason for this traffic is due to the amount of people
that live on the island Trinidad is populated with about 1.2 million people. The island can fit into
Ohio over 22 and a half times. At night, the island is covered in lights. At first, it looked like a big
city with lights everywhere, but it turned out that it was a bunch of houses. There are numerous
houses everywhere to house the population that I was amazed by the amount of light on the island.
My culture back home could greatly benefit from the laid back lifestyle of Trinidad. In America, we

Under Western Eyes by Mohanty
In this text Mohanty argues that contemporary western feminist writing on Third World women
contributes to the reproduction of colonial discourses where women in the South are represented as
an undifferentiated other . Mohanty examines how liberal and socialist feminist scholarship use
analytics strategies that creates an essentialist construction of the category woman, universalist
assumptions of sexist oppression and how this contributes to the perpetuation of colonialist
relations between the north and south(Mohanty 1991:55). She criticises Western feminist discourse
for constructing the third world woman as a homogeneous powerless and vulnerable group, while
women in the North still represent the modern and liberated woman... Show more content on

She makes an important point when trying to go beyond the female (otherness), by paying careful
attention to differences among women themselves, and by putting emphasize on the multiple
realties that women faces, and by that trying to uncover universalist interpretations (Parpart and
Marchand 1995:6). She reveals the inadequacy of binary categories by showing us how power is
defined in binary terms, between the people who have (men) and the people who do not (women).
This is a consequence of seeing women as a homogenous group, and contributes to the
reinforcement of the binary division between men and women (Mohanty 1991:64). By assuming
that women are a already constituted group with the same experiences and interests, gender is
looked upon as something that can be applied cross cultures (Mohanty 1991:54), and it also
produces an assumption about the average third world woman as poor and uneducated, in contrast
to the educated, modern Western women (Mohanty 1991:56). Implicit in the binary analytic lies the
assumption that the third world woman only can be liberated through western rationality. Mohanty
is making an important point when emphasising the need to challenge these objectifications
(Udayagiri 1995:163). Mohantys emphasis on historical, spatial and cultural specificity contributes
to important insights on how different contexts influence on women s lives, and challenges the fact
that much of the discourse of

The Doors Opened by Reading
To say it was a dark and stormy night would be a gross understatement. It was colder than a witch

have been curled up in front of a fire, ........ but not me. I was out in it. I m squire to a hero. The
Last Knight by Hilari Bell is an awe inspiring book that brings medieval tales to life. Being able to
comprehend the words written onto a piece of paper is a passion of mine. As a fan of mystical
literature I have been inspired by Christopher Paolini, an author, that taught me no matter how
young you are you can accomplish anything. My goal is to help share the wonders of reading
with others, inspire others as Christopher Paolini has me, and to one day be able to share my
writing with the world in hope it will bring joy to others. I ve had the mundane book in my
backpack for days now, reluctant to open its drab cover. I should probably return it to the library
and tell my teacher I read it. Reading is overrated anyway so why bother? , was my initial
reaction as I picked up the colossal 700 page book in 4th grade . I hadn t much interest in the
humdrum book , leading me to look up a summary online. Instead of the plot summary I was
hoping for, I found the life story of Christopher Paolini, author and creator of the Inheritance cycle
series. Christopher started writing in high school when he was 15 years old, published his first

Rape In The Military
As sexual violence has been and probably still is present in the US, there are a high number of
rape cases going unreported, as indicated in the The Invisible War documentary. It is surprising to
view that men were also victims of rape in the military. There is a great percentage of women
victims of rapein the military, and they are unable to obtain justice for enduring such an act of
violence. Men, victims of rape just like women are somewhat in the same predicament of not
wanting to make a report as a risk of being judged of being homosexual.
The legislation I chose to use for this discussion is Military Sexual Assault Prevention Act of 2013.

Allegory Of Mrs. Dubose
Jared Crane Mid Term Essay Intro to Literature 2200 Instructor: Russell Burrows October 4,
2017 A close reading of Mrs. Henry Lafayette Dubose. Mrs. Dubose is an allegory that is found
throughout To Kill A Mocking Bird. People cannot be judged on first impressions; if we scratch
the surface we ll find that they are better or worse than first thought. They may have redeeming
qualities or skeletons in their closets. Mrs. Dubose was first seen as a grouchy, sharp tongued
racist who was steeped in traditionalism. As the story progresses she transforms into a resilient
fighter, full of courage. Scout see s Mrs. Dubose as the mean old lady up the street (39). She
refers to her age as ...close on to a hundred... (103). When Jem and Scouts fixation on Boo Radley
ended and they wanted to venture downtown, they couldn t avoid Mrs. Dubose s house anymore.
They could have walked around, but it would have added an extra mile to their trip and they had
to grow up sometime (114). Mrs. Dubose is a Southern institution down to her name. The name
Dubose has French origins, it means by or in a wood. The Name Henry is also French, but it has
noble origins. The Normans introduced the name to England and it was used by eight kings, ending
with Henry VIII. Lafayette, another French name, means birch tree and flatterer in England. It s
very ironic that a woman with the last name that

Capella University Writing Process Analysis
What is a writing process?
The Capella University writing process includes four main parts. First, there is a prewriting, which
allows the student to generate ideas of what the content of the assignment will be (Capella
University, 2017). This step creates the audience and the purpose of the assignment. The next step
is drafting the assignment, which allows the student to document the evidence that supports the
main ideas (Capella University, 2017). This step is important because it helps determine if the
evidence presented strongly supports the topic. The next step of the writing process is revising,
which allows the student to make changes that will strengthen the content of the assignment
(Capella University, 2017). Revising is another important step that ... Show more content on

Based on the Capella University writing process, the steps includes the student analyzing the
audience to help determine the purpose of the paper. Therefore, the writing process does not differ
because the same steps will still be use in creating the assignment. The important piece that will be
different is the type of research and evidence used to support the main ideas within the paper. This
information will provide support to the audience to ensure that the main purpose of the paper is
clearly understood.
What elements of the process are you familiar with and what elements do you need to explore
further?
Within the past eight weeks, I have realized my strengths and weaknesses within the writing
process. I have realized that I do not utilize the first step within the writing process of prewriting.
However, for the drafting, revising, and polishing steps of the writing process, I am very familiar
and use additional resources to strengthen the writing assignment. I create multiple drafts, which
includes revising and polishing in each step. Therefore, I use all three of these steps in multiple
drafts as I reach the final product for

Langston Hughes Relationship In Relationships
Relationships, Love, Support, or Dependency?
The relationship between women and men might be complicated for some while sometimes even a
really loving relationship cannot survive if people chose their personal longing as a priority.
Women and men fight in relationships; fight for more independence, fight to prove their worthiness
and keep forgetting that love is not a fight but a mutual support. Both men and women have
strengths and skills that are important for a relationship and growth. We need to ensure that both
partners play an important role in a relationship so that it can benefit both parties and the
relationship. James Mercer Langston Hughes also was known as Langston Hughes, is an American
writer who was an important figure in the Harlem Renaissance and made the African American

in which he called for a confident, uniquely black literature: We younger Negro artists who create
now intend to express our individual dark skinned selves without fear or shame. By the time

Use Of Household Wastewater And Convert It Into Usable...
Greywater systems are a way to use household wastewater and convert it into usable water for other
purposes. For example, wastewater from showers, washing machines, and dishwater can be reused,
mainly for landscape irrigation. Greywater is reusable due to the fact that the water being used does
not come in contact with feces from toilets, hence its reusability. Although greywatermay look dirty,
it is clean enough for the use in the watering of a lawn or landscaping. These greywater systems
have been improved throughout the years from when the systems were first legalized in 1989 to the
advanced systems available today.
The use of greywater systems was not legalized until August of 1989 in Santa Barbara, California.

The Code of Practice also covers the the potential risks of greywater recycling. The best way to
learn about implementing greywater system is contacting the Water Unit in the area of relevance.
Water recycling has been proven to be an efficient and successful way to create a new and
reliable source for water without compromising the health of the public. Scientists have been
looking for ways to reuse water, because as water energy demands and environmental needs grow
water recycling will play a bigger role in our overall water supply. With the help of scientific
research, water recycling, along with water conservation and efficiency will allow us to sustainably
manage our important water resources. There are many different practices that scientists have tried,
but greywater systems are the most cost efficient and easiest to be used within a household. Some
of the other options to a Greywater system would be sedimentation, biological oxidation, and
filtration. Sedimentation is the process in which water is separated from solids through the force of
gravity. Wastewateris placed in a primary sedimentation tank giving the water an opportunity to
separate. This technique is the primary treatment for sewage. Biological oxidation is where the
demand of oxygen within the wastewater is reduced, which then will also reduce the amount of
active toxins within the wastewater. This secondary treatment is widely used at sewage plants to

Meiji Japan Changes
Meiji Japan Political Changes
By Natalie Starkoff
Introduction
The Meiji Restoration, an important era in Japanese history, saw the abolition of the feudal system
of the Tokugawa period and political changes which contributed to the modernisation of Japan.
The political leaders in the late Tokugawa period with the main source of power were the shogun
and daimyo as the emperor was only a head figure. The new political system that was introduced in
the Meiji period had a great effect on Japan completely changing their way of living. This new
system was responsible for the development of Japan s infrastructure in areas such as railways,
shipping and technology.

The new government attempted to modernize and develop the country in an attempt to protect
against foreign domination; this is shown by the treaty ports of Yokohama and Kobe and the laws
that applied to foreigners in Japan (http://www.japanvisitor.com/). Middle of the nineteenth century,
Japan s ruling Shogunate was a weak, feudal order, unable to control all its own domains, much less
defend the nation against a threat from the Western powers (Afe.easia.columbia.edu). The Japanese
were convinced that modernization depended on putting an end to the feudal order; a group of
middle ranking samurai overthrew the military government of the Shogun. In 1871, the Meiji
government announced the abolition of feudalism as a form of government and all Japanese all
Japanese were to be loyal to the emperor. Central Government then divided Japan into 75 regions
governed by centrally appointed officials. On the 7th April 1868, Mutsuhito issued a declaration
known as the Five Articles Oath which outlined the main aims and the course of action to be
followed during Emperor Meiji s reign, setting the legal stage for Japan s modernization and can be

Pathogenesis, Prevalence, And Affected Individuals
SLE: Pathogenesis, prevalence, and affected individuals. In general, the term lupus is used to
describe a multi systemic inflammation that results from an abnormal immunological function. It
includes four main types: neonatal and pediatric lupus erythematosus (NLE); discoid lupus
erythematosus (DLE); drug induced lupus (DIL); and systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE). The
latter is the most common type, and it is referred to simply as lupus . SLE is a complex rheumatic
disease of an autoimmune origin, with an unknown etiology and thus individuals at risk are unable
to prevent the disease s progression. Genetic, hormonal, environmental factors as well an
immunological abnormalities have been contributed to its pathogenesis. The most agreed upon
theory is that the diseases develop as a consequence of the formation and deposition of
autoantibodies and immune complexes in various organ systems, leading to eventual organ
damage. Studies focusing on SLE as a genetic diseases have shown that there is a genetic
predisposition within families. For example first degree relatives of patients with SLE are
significantly more likely to have the disease compared to the rest of population (Maidhof Hilas,
2012).Recent technological advances have led to breakthroughs in the identification of
susceptibility factors involved in SLE, among which DNA methylation alterations has shown great
potential. Incomplete concordance for SLE has been found in homozygotic twins, suggesting that

The Difference Between Child Abuse And Discipline
Do you know the difference between child abuse and discipline? Child Abuse is when someone
physically and mentally hurts another person. Discipline is teaching someone or something to do
the right thing. Child Abuse is very common in the United States. Many children suffer from
bruising, swelling skin, and broken bones. Situations like this happen because of problems at
home or personal problems. Parents at home abuse their children because of drinking and

physical abuse, neglect, and emotional or psychological abuse. Sexual abuse is an intentional
incident that involves sexual relationship to a child using all their power and taking advantage of

In the last three or four years, I ve noticed overall interest in synthetic biology has increased, said

Problems In English Oral Communication
English oral communicative ability According to Byrne (1986), oral communication is the process
between speakers and listeners. The speakers use their productive skill to change their thought into
appropriate language, and then the listeners use receptive skill to interpret the message from the
speakers. In English communication, the speakers need communicative competence which is the
ability of using or interpreting languages in appropriate way during the conversation. In other word,
the speakers need to know the purpose of their speaking and they have to use the right language to
talk with the right person (Hymes, 1981). According to Common European Framework (2001), the
communicative competence consists of three elements including linguistic competence,
sociolinguistic competence, and pragmatic competence. Revell (1979) also gave an opinion about
communication, and his opinion is related with Hymes s. He claims that the ability of

Inhibition The first problem in English speaking is inhibition. Many students are often inhibited
when they try to speak English. According to Littlewood (2007), foreign language classroom can
cause inhibition and anxiety easily. The students are often worried about making mistakes, fearful
of criticism or embarrassment. 2. Lack of topical knowledge Rivers (1968) believes that sometimes
the students cannot express themselves because the teachers push them to speak in the topic that is
not suitable for them. They might have no idea how to use the grammar correctly, which
vocabulary to use, or what to say about the topic that teacher asks them to answer. 3. Low
participation In a large class, there is not enough time for every student to speak. Some students
hardly or never participate in any oral practice because there are too many students in the class.
They can only listen what the others say, but do not have an opportunity to express themselves. 4.

Influence Of Enlightenment On The American Revolution
The ideas of the Enlightenment influenced the American Revolution and the formation of the
American Government in several different ways. The Enlightenment period initiated several new
ideas about freedoms and rights. These ideas were discussed in meetings called salons in France,
where they discussed new ideas. There were many influential philosophers from the enlightenment
periods, Thomas Hobbes, Montesquieu, Adam Smith, Voltaire, John Locke, and Rousseau. Thomas
Hobbes believed that all people were naturally selfish and needed a strong government like an
absolute monarchy to remain in control. Montesquieu supported the separation of powers and a
system of checks and balances in government. Adam Smith believed that governments... Show more

It was our fight to become independent and free. The Enlightenment thinker Adam Smith believed
that the government should not interfere with a free market economy. Many of the colonists
believed the same, so they dressed up as Native Americans and dumped imported tea from a ship
into the Boston Harbour to protest against the Tea Act. The Tea Act heavily impacted the colonists
taxes, which is what the colonists were fighting over. This shows that the Enlightenment influenced
the American Revolution because the Enlightenment thinker Adam Smith caused the colonists to
revolt against Britain s oppression. Another important Enlightenment thinker, John Locke, also
inspired the colonists to revolt because he believed that people were able to revolt when their
government was not protecting the natural rights of the people. Since the colonists didn t like what
was happening to the controlling government, they revolted because of John Locke. Finally,
Voltaire believed in freedom of speech and expression, meaning that he thought anyone could
protest or say what they believed. The colonists were very impacted by this belief, as it inspired
them to speak out against the king and revolt. All in all, the American colonists were heavily
influenced by the Enlightenment thinkers because they took the new ideas and applied them,
causing them to revolt against Britain to gain independence, starting the American

Amory Blaine In F. Scott Fitzgerald s This Side Of Paradise
A significant part of F. Scott Fitzgerald s This Side of Paradise describes the time that the main
character, Amory Blaine, has spent at Princeton University. Through the portrayal of the several
characters, the novel shows that the years spent at Princeton either turned the students into a
homogenous mass or, on the contrary, prompted them to deviate from the crowd. A typical student
from the novel can most likely be described as a Princeton slicker (51). The slickers are
predominantly smart, well dressed and successful, but what truly draws the line between them and
the other students is the slickers sense of social values (40), or, in other words, their snobbishness.
The very structure of the college, with its clubs and societies... Show more content on

The word conventionalize seems to fully capture the negative impact that the college may have
on one s core values, as later Tom himself is accused of being conventionalized (126) when
Amory Blaine thinks he is no longer standing against people (126). Amory, too, becomes
disillusioned with the idea of being a slicker , and this is reflected in the nonchalance he develops
towards all of the student organizations and in a shift in the objects of his admiration. As a
freshman and a sophomore, Amory was fascinated by of Dick Hornby, a perfect type of aristocrat
(78) with an air of elegance and style. As an upperclassman, however, Amory grew fond of Burne
Holiday, an enthusiastic pacifist and socialist who seemed too eccentric to the rest of the college
community. Unlike Dick Hornby, who attracted Amory s attention merely because of the
impression he made in public, Burne Holiday strucks Amory because of his intense earnestness
(117) and the unique path he chose to follow. This change in Amory s values thus proves that, in
time, he, too, has overgrown the snobbishness and superficiality of the Princeton s student
community and became more

Essay on U.S. Must Manage Debt to Help the World s Economy
The United States once had the largest economy in the entire world, and when there are
problems with the US economy shock waves can be felt all over the world. The global economy
is inter connected on several levels due to the amount of international trade which occurs. If the
United States does not find a way to manage its debt, or find a way to reduce the debt, it would
increase the cost of finance for business because of the increase in interest rates. This could lead
to high inflation. The stock market would also suffer badly as investors might feel that investing
in the US market was too risky. This would cause the stock markets to fall as investors would take
their money to other countries, or invest in gold; which many people have... Show more content on

A London based Wall Street Journal reporter, Charles Forelle warned the enthusiasm over
investing will change dramatically if the shutdown continues, and especially if the U.S.
government defaults on its debt. European markets are currently the most susceptible, and any
delay in the stabilizing the US market will delay economic recovery there as well (Krugman,
1999). According to a senior International Monetary Fund official, in case of a U.S. debt default
the entire global economy will be negatively affected, Stock markets crashes in many countries is
a distinct possibility which will add to the problems of the recession that most of the world is
currently undergoing. More damaging could be the failure to raise the debt ceiling which could
cause a default in most economies is increasing ambiguity to a still shaky global economy.
Although the U.S. can probably sustain a short economic shutdown, a prolonged one will seriously
impair the financial system leading to the collapse of the global economy. A major portion of the
operations of the U.S government were shut down completely after the Senate could not reach an
agreement on government spending at the start of the new financial year. Republicans are not
approving even a temporary spending bill unless there are radical changes in Obama s 2010 health
care law. Both parties are imposing conditions for increasing the government s $16.7 trillion

Theodore Sherman Contribute To The Revolutionary War
At 9:40 pm on February 15 1898 a massive explosion rocked the Maine, soon after there was a
second one. The Maine sunk almost immediately. Unfortunately the explosions happened in the
front of the ship close to the living quarters of the men. Out of the 354 men on board 266 died from
the blasts. Many others were injured terribly. The Americans were furious that an American ship
and its men were destroyed. They were outraged that the hated Spanish could do such a thing. The
angry Americans demanded that McKinley stop the negotiations and avenge the Maine. One of the
angry Americans was the assistant secretary of the navy Theodore Roosevelt. Being a nationalist he

had never expressed such an opinion. He even denied that he had ever made such an

Sherman favored a war with Spain. Also ther was no truth in the headline FLEETS OF THE
GREAT POWERS BOMBARD THE CUBAN INSURGANTS. But there was no way for the
Americans to disprove the story. Needless to say these events (described sensationally) caused the
Journals circulation to soar. However it did not reach the level of the World. Another one of

The Price of Diamonds Is too High Essay
The price of diamonds is too high
This essay discusses the statement the price of diamonds is too high ; it will analyze the diamond
cartel and its history in order to determine the validity of this statement. Various microeconomic
theories will be discussed and explained, all of which are involved in the diamond cartel. The
Oxford Dictionary defines a cartel as an association of manufacturers or suppliers with the purpose
of maintaining prices at a high level and restricting competition [Oxford Dictionaries; unknown].
Therefore, the diamond cartel consists of a group of manufacturers/suppliers of diamonds who
come together in order to restrict supply and as a result increase the price of diamonds. This essay

However, this changed in 1870 when diamond mines were found in Kimberly (South Africa) [
Have you ever tried to sell a diamond? Edward Jay Epstein; unknown]. This discovery was a
huge danger to the few manufactures and suppliers of diamonds as with the large amounts, and
therefore the increased supply, of diamonds, they would no longer be considered rare/scare
[Ivona Vogelsang; 2005]; therefore their value and price would decrease as a result. This can be
understood by using the diminishing marginal utility theory, the more people have of something
(or the greater the quantity/supply) the less it is valued (the lower the utility) [Michael Parkin et
al.; 2010]. The less it is valued, the less people are willing to pay (unless it is price inelastic) as a
result decreasing the price of the product/service.
De Beers Consolidated Mines Ltd. identified this threat and 18 years after the discovery in
Kimberly they became integrated into South Africa. In order to monopolize De Beers began to buy,
from African nations, private mining rights, they also managed to control mine output in order to
restrict the supply of diamonds. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts to limit the supply of
diamonds with the intention of increasing their price, in the 1930 s the demand for diamonds
started to decrease rapidly [Ivona Vogelsang; 2005]. In response to the large decrease

Symbolism In Anthem By Ayn Rand
If you take myth and folklore, and these things that speak in symbols, they can be interpreted in so
many ways that although the actual image is clear enough, the interpretation is infinitely blurred, a
sort of enormous rainbow of every possible colour you could imagine (Diana Wynne Jones).
Symbols are objects, characters, figures, or colors used to represent abstract ideas or concepts. In
Anthem by Ayn Rand, symbols are used throughout the novel, allowing to reveal more hidden
information about Equality as a person as well as how it portrays to theme.
Throughout the novel, multiple different symbols are being portrayed, although the symbol of light
depicts the full meaning of the characters and theme of Anthem. Ayn Rand uses light to symbolize
knowledge, hope, freedom, and life. The light symbolizes hope since, it shows how Equality
separates himself from collectivism and thinks for himself when he proclaims We made it. We
created it. We brought it forth from the night of the ages. We alone. Our hands. Our mind. Ours
alone and only (59). By contrast to the light of the box, the City is dark and only lit by
candlelight. Therefore the light shows the hope that Equality and all others have of breaking away
from the collective society and becoming individuals and to have freedom to be themselves. The
discovery of light starts Equality s journey of changing the society and granted him the chance to
create a new world where light and other things from the Unmentionable Times exist.
The symbolization of the light in Anthem helps characterize Equality as an individual in the novel
in various different ways. The light allowed and led Equality to his freedom of being himself rather
than characterized as a group with his brothers. Equality discovering and inventing the lightbulb
was his first realization of individuality. In the dark haze of this society, all things are indistinct.
Until when light is brought to display can those with abnormal qualities be distinguished from the
crowd. Consequently, Equality s lightbulb makes him a sign of massive social disturbance but, at
the same time that it helps him see himself as the unique individual that he truly is. Tomorrow, in
the full light of day, we shall take

Knights Of The Golden Circle Essay
One other thing to note from the K.G.C. convention is that the Knights had organized an army by
1860, before the Civil War had even begun, making them well prepared for the confrontation with
the North. The Knights of the Golden Circle reported at the convention that they had 48,000
members from the North, that supported the rights of the South, also reporting men from the
joining rapidly.
Texas had become a tremendous contributor to the organization s strength. With thirty two K.G.C.
lodges within its twenty seven counties, there was no doubt a heavy concentration of the
committees influence throughout the state. Towns such as Marshal, San Antonio, Canton and
Castroville have been named as some of the well known lodges. Facts point to San Antonio as the
national headquarters for the organization for a point in time.
Shortly after the south seceded from the Union, the seven seceding states established a Confederate
Constitution and claimed Jefferson Davis as it president. By this time the Knights of the Golden
Circle had become the single most powerful ally to the newly formed Confederate States. On ...

Coast Guard Training Case Study
1.No formal training or development is available to Coast Guard firearm trainers beyond the initial
training provided at Firearms Instructor (FAI) C school. Upon graduating FAI school members are
expected to conduct training in accordance with Commandant policy. As the Coast Guard changes

Principles of Confidentiality, Ethical Theories, and a...
A.Introduction This paper will look at the principles of confidentiality, ethical theories, and a
presented case study on the Z family and the practitioners ethical decisions. It will provide a
better understanding of how moral and ethical situations can be approached by the practitioner,
and giving examples and theories that can be put into practice in difficult decisions. B.Ethical
Theory The importance of ethical theory plays a large role in nursing practices. It is often
difficult to understand where the lines of confidentiality should be drawn, so in order to help

In this case, these protocols to making tough decisions come in the form of Ethical Theories.
Having the templates in place to make decisions, allows nurse practitioners to have a series of
ethical and moral situations that they can run through in order to align their own personal values
with their professional ones. An example would be if a practitioner had a husband or wife who
was an inpatient; it would be unethical to go to the nurse s station to look over their spouse s chart.
Simply being married does not provide any special treatment without authorization signed by the
spouse (Erickson and Millar, 2005). C1. Explain the elements of the principle of confidentiality. The
elements of the principles of confidentiality can be broken down into four separate categories: (1)
Information provided by the patient is kept confidential unless consent from the patient has
otherwise been given unless it has direct legal implications or endangers the general public. (2)
Informed Consent: is given freely, because the correct information has been supplied and the patient
has sufficient information on the impacts involved. Information is otherwise given out on a need to

others and the patient. Legal and general public health fall under this category. (4) Documenting

  • 2. Analysis Of Benjamin Franklin s God Helps Those Who... Autobiography Essay on Benjamin Franklin God helps those who helps themselves is a famous quote by Benjamin Franklin. He exemplifies this in The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. In this book, Franklin gives an account of his personal life to show others how he improved throughout his life. He first started writing the autobiography for his son, but eventually turn it into a story for others to imitate. He describes his life, virtues, and public service to others. The Autobiography opens with a letter to Ben Franklin s son, William Franklin, who was the royal governor of New Jersey at the time. Franklin writes the letter while on vacation in Twyford. Franklin says to William, Imagining it may be equally agreeable to you to know the circumstances of my life, many of which you are yet unacquainted with... I sit down to write them to you (5). His purpose of writing his son would be to tell him personal accounts of his life that could benefit him in ways of motivation, wisdom, and simply to show him how far he has improved in his life. He wishes to tell him how he rose from poverty and obscurity to a higher degree of reputation in the world. Furthermore, this would not be his only purpose, which changes with the tone and style of his writing Franklin decides to write a complete autobiography to exemplify his self improvements. He shares with him how he enjoyed his life, and if the opportunity to live the exact life arose he would change some errors. Ones which were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Spastic Paraplegia Essay Hereditary spastic paraplegias (HSPs) are genetically heterogeneous disorders, which are characterized by lower extremity spasticity and weakness. HSP is often caused by mutations in SPG genes, but it may be also produced by inborn errors of metabolism [1,2]. Next generation sequencing (NGS) is helpful for investigating patients in whom geneticsdoes not fully meets the clinical presentation. We performed NGS in adult twins and found compound pathogenic mutations in MTHFR and POLG1 genes, which were consistent with metabolic changes, including hyperhomocysteinemia decreased activity of MTHFR and mitochondrial respiratory chain. Two 46 year old twin females presented with spastic paraplegia, hyperreflexia, bilateral extensor plantar responses, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 1760T and 752T alleles were in complete linkage disequilibrium, in cis position, in previous reports [4,5]. The genomic position of the third mutation, c.156_158dup (p.Gln55dup, n. 1184_ 1183insTGC in HGVS nomenclature) encompasses several deletion/insertion variations ( /TGC /TGCTGC/TGCTGCTGC). The digenic mutations in MTHFR and POLG1 were consistent with the biochemical and metabolic abnormalities. Fasting serum homocysteine was 150 Вµmol/l before treatment and decreased below 70 Вµmol/L after treatment, in both cases. Analyses on skin fibroblasts from one of the patients showed decrease of MTHFR activity (1.9 nmol/mg/h vs 6.1 nmol/mg/h in control fibroblasts). The MTHFR p.Arg157Gln mutation is located near the binding site of riboflavin. Consistently, adding riboflavin in culture medium produced a 3 fold increase of MTHFR activity in the patient s fibroblasts. The normal cellular uptake of labelled cobalamin ([57Co]CNCbl) and ... • 4. My Grandparents Speech Many people only have the privilege of seeing their grandparents on birthdays and other holidays. Luckily for me, I see mine almost every week. My grandparents, specifically my mom s parents, have both played a large role in shaping me into the person I am today. My grandpa, or Pa , especially, has been more of a father to me than my own. He has held an essential role in my life, and is continually shaping me each day. My grandpa is a strong willed and old fashioned man. He likes to do things his way. In addition, he always works hard and provides for his family. Throughout the course of my rather short life, my grandpa has taught me many lessons. Here are three stories that stick out to me the most. They taught me to be adventurous, to work hard, and to get back up after failure. The whole family was there, as my grandpa decided to make a big purchase. He was buying a 2005 Chevy SSR convertible, and five year old me was ecstatic. After a long night of waiting for all the details to be worked out, the car was his. Me, being the bratty kid I was, jumped in and said, I get the first ride! On my first ride, I remember the roar of the engine. That sounds like kitties purring. I said. My grandpa laughed and said, You are right. Those are kitties! I exclaimed, Well then make those kitties purr! He laughed and revved the engine as I stuck my hands out into the wind, laughing and yelling as I did so. The fun continued as we continued to laugh and yelled, Faster! ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The First Round Of Tournament Play For The Silver Division We officiated the first round of tournament play for the silver division. The teams playing were Northern Impact 16 2s team and Crex 15 s team. The first set was uneventful; however, the second set issues started to arise. Northern Impact had run a 5 1 in the first set and the second set, but with different setters. Issues started to arise as I called them first on being out of rotation as the setter was in the incorrect spot before the server on the opposing team had made contact. I then proceeded to call her on multiply carries. After the second time calling her, I turned to her coach and told her that the playerin question had to quicken up her contact as she was almost catching the ball, bringing it to her chest, and then throwing... When I found the site director, I explained to her the calls I made and my reasoning behind them. She said she knew which setter I was referring to and said that she had recently run a setting clinic to try to fix these issues. I also spoke about my concern over the parents behavior. I stated that I was disappointed that parents were acting this way and that I felt that the situation was inappropriate. I also expressed concern that my player had felt threatened to have an upset parent approach her while she was officiating. After speaking with her, I returned to the gym as we had to play Howard Lake. We played Howard Lake and won the first set. When we were about 13 points into the second match, I had another Northern Impact parent approach me while we were playing a match, when we weren t playing their team, and accuse my girls of making racist and threatening comments to a Northern Impact player. I know that this is untrue simply by the fact that both Chad and I were by the girls the entire match and would have heard any interaction that would have taken place. I told the parent that this was neither the appropriate place or time to be having this discussion and I would happily discuss her concerns after our match. She continued to yell at me ... • 6. Metaatropic Dwarfism Essay Metatropic dwarfism Metatropic dysplasia, also known as metatropic dwarfism is a very rare disease in humans that is often deadly and identifiable after birth or into the infant stages of a baby. It has been discussed that MTD is in part caused by mutations in the TRVP4 gene. This is located at 12q24.1 which is the long (q) arm of chromosome 12 at position 24.1, base pairs 109,784,087 to 109,833,407. There have been approximately 81 cases reported so far with odds of 1/1,000,000. A few cases have been severe to the point of endangering the mother s life. This type of dwarfism affects the human skeleton in such a way that affects normal growth. Body proportions are abnormal, and a child will have unusual features such as shorter limbs, a narrow chest, and bones that have not developed correctly. Several facial deformities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Metatropic dysplasia is inherited and can be passed down, meaning that is its autosomal dominant. It is also possible that there will be reoccurrences between siblings, though it is variable over time. Testing of the TRPV4 gene is available through CTGT and other corporations that specialize in genetic sequencing. Prenatal ultrasound scans will show narrow spinal canals and shortening of long bones and the supporting structure. Treatment of metatropic dysplasia after birth is possible but its effectiveness varies from each case and it is often an aggressive and labor intensive path to follow. Doctors main goals for patients with MTD are to establish satisfactory respiratory and pulmonary functions as well as reducing the amount of skeletal deformity. This may require several surgeries that have their own risks and outpatient treatment plan. If doctors can keep patients with MTD alive for longer periods of time, they will be able to determine which methods of treatment are the most effective. Since this is a genetic mutation, each case will require their oun unique set of tests, since there may be more than one contributing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Zip Codes Target Market Additionally to the Market segmentation, many retailers and businesses use the segmentation as a marketing strategy and a factor when determining such as the location of a store, or the products that are going to be sold. Some of the strategic methods that are well known and utilized by many businesses are the Geographic, Demographic, Psychographic, and the Behavioral segmentation. I will focus more on the Geographic segmentation which creates data from the consumers zip codes, neighborhood population and household income, and much more. Overall every retailer s focus is to have a successful business, and when doing that you must know who you are targeting and undergo research about those consumers who will be purchasing your products. I think I was a bit more astonished and disappointed in looking at my zip code 10460 in the Bronx because I realized that we have a lot more poor people with very low income. The population is much higher than the zip code 10577 in Westchester, NY and 68178 in Douglas, NE, with a median income of only $23,300. The population is a lot less in 10577 with less than 2,000 and one of the most common segments in that zip code is wealthy 65+ with postgraduate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Stacy Peralta s Film Called The Crips And Bloods In the 1950 s when segregation laws were still very present in America and racism was at its peak, America did not care that they were ruining the lives of African Americans everywhere. America also did not know that they had created two very dangerous monsters who would later run the streets of Los angles, using murder to do so. In Stacy Peralta s documentary film called The Cripsand Bloods: Made in America , gangs and gangviolence is explained and shown in great detail. This documentary is used to attempt to bring attention to these gang s brutal way of life and what caused this monstrosity. It is also used to bring attention to what can be done to prevent any further gang violence and possibly help bring in funds for programs that help with this cause, since they receive no federal money. This documentary is successful in doing this by using raw footage to create a feeling to some degree of sympathy for the people involved with gang activity. They also use every day people who have had their lives forever impacted because of gang violence. Using the three rhetorical appeals in essential to this documentary and its purpose. The ethos form is very important here because it sets up good credibility and background for these gangs and their members. The documentary starts out by using former gang members Ron, Bird, and Kumasi to explain how and why these gangs began. Using actual gang members makes this documentary automatically feel more relatable. The use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Dualism Of Romanticism The way Blicher portrays the family of the manor is idealistic, which aligns with the dualism of Romanticism. The dualism of Romanticism puts forth that the ideal should be placed above the reality (Monrad, 09 26 16, sl. 11). The manor is described as a peaceful place where it seems as if it were newly white washed and decorated and the trees in the garden have taken on a beautiful shade of pale green and everyone looks so content (Blicher 11). Miss Sophie can be related to the Platonic triad: the good, true and beautiful (Monrad, 09 26 16, sl. 11). She has been associated with the word angel multiple times as mentioned before. Death is also regarded as something that is necessary which can be seen when Morten calls Jens a fool for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the maid gave birth to a son, she mentions that the father was a lace pedlar, but the whole house knows very well who the guilty one is (Blicher 21). Even though the harmonious environment was maintained, in reality, the environment is chaotic that is filled with adultery. This is revealed when Jens and Miss Sophie s relationship comes into light. This corresponds to Blicher s theme of God being distant and the human world is dominated by spite and sexuality. (Monrad, 10 21 16, sl. 3). Miss Sophie only wanted to live the rest of her life with the one she loved, but God seemed to not have listened to her prayers. This also applies to Morten as he has wanted to end his life multiple times throughout the story, but God never answered to his prayers. Since Blicher was a clergyman, some Christian elements are visible within the short story. The last entry in Morten s diary further reveals how the Christian religion is tied to the short story. This entry consists of some passages from the Bible to indicate how Morten s fate is related to God. He feels that he has wasted his life asking God what has become of these years these many thousands of days? Where are the delights of my youth? (Blicher 32). In this entry, Morten reflects on his life on how his tender soul shone just as brightly and merrily as the moon , but has turned as dark as the moor due to his encounter with Miss Sophie (Blicher 33). • 10. Nietzche s Master and Slave Morality In Of the Genealogy of Morality, Nietzsche sought to provide context for what he saw as the central value system of the society in which he lived: slave morality. Nietzsche saw morality as reflective of the conditions in which its proponents were brought up. He saw the roots of slave morality in oppression and slavery, and posits that it grew as a reaction to the morality of the masters of the time. What follows is a simplified account of Nietzsche s master slave dichotomy, and what he saw as the dire consequences for human progress should the pervasiveness of slave morality be allowed to remain at the expense of the master. I will argue that although religion and slave morality may have had significant influence in Nietzsche s day, his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast to the consequentialism of master morality, slave morality can be seen as a deontological morality. It determines an action s goodness by looking at the actor s intention: to slave moralists, the ends do not, necessarily, justify the means. The nature of acts and their actors plays an important role in Nietzsche s discussion of morality. Slaves believe in and strive for freedom and see evil in the masters oppression of them, as they believe they perform these acts of oppression of their own free will. They believe that, because the masters are free agents, they should be held responsible for their actions and criticized for them. Nietzsche disputes this view, and demonstrates his argument using the analogy of the eagles and the lambs: That lambs dislike great birds of prey does not seem strange: only it gives no ground for reproaching these birds of prey for bearing off little lambs. And if the lambs say among themselves: these birds of prey are evil; and whoever is least like a bird of prey, but rather its opposite, a lamb would he not be good? there is no reason to find fault with this institution of an ideal, except perhaps that birds of prey might view it a little ironically and say we don t dislike them at all, these good little lambs; we even love them: nothing is more tasty... . ... Wrapped in Red is an American song about how much Christmas influences the idea of falling in love in the artist s point of view. Also, it s about how after many years of having a secret love, she will let her feelings loose in Christmasday. The artist creates a romantic mood throughout the song, The song includes 3 important literary devices, thoroughly analyzed, that make the song special and a success; imagery, repetition, and the colors expressed as feelings from the artist, Kelly Clarkson. Her first statement of imagery was when she stated as her second line in the first verse, Snow is falling down. This one s not hard to comprehend; it simply means that it s winter time and it s snowing in her location area. When the artist also stated, So I m at your door with nothing more than words I ve never said, indicates the pure fear of showing love to somebody you ve known for years in a friendly manner. In other words, Clarkson is planning to confess her love, but there s a fear inside her that says, He won t feel the same way. The richest imagery Clarkson has shown in Wrapped in Red was when she stated, In all this white, you ll see me like you ve never seen me yet wrapped in red. Even though the idea was not directly clear, and quite hard to understand, the artist did an incredible job using imagery in this line. Since the time in the song is winter, white connects to the season because everything is very clear. From the artist s point of view, her secret love has seen her as nothing more than a friend; everything has been clear between them. Now, the artist wants to be noticed, and the only way to do that, is to stand out and confess. It s incredible how rich Clarkson makes her imagery, particularly with the use of colors and ... The excitement grew as coaches gave last minute instructions to their players. The kick off of the 1966 World Cup, held in England, in which Germany versed England, was moments away. The whistle blew and the match was on. The first ninety minutes of the match were an exciting battle and the game ended in a 0 0 score; on to overtime! According to an article written Zoe Doherty During the final, with eleven minutes gone in extra time, Alan Ball crossed to George Hurst whose subsequent shot cannoned off the underside of the goal and down either just on or over the goal line. The goal was controversially allowed, and its validity is still questioned to this day. (Goal line technology in soccer 2010) Controversy has always played a major role in the officiating of sporting events since the official s decisions are based upon their judgments and observations. Maybe in 1966 that had to be the case, but today, thanks to modern technology, that s not so. Rather than relying solely on their personal observations to determine a call, soccer officials are now being assisted by goal line technology, a tool to assist them making their official rulings during a game. Being extra quiet to not wake up my mother was a main challenge, trying to tippy toe around the cabin and dodging the creaky spots in the floor. Prior to eating breakfast, I began getting dressed. Due to the fact that I was in northern Minnesota, the weather was bone chilling and the wind would seep right through your layers onto your unexpecting skin. Once I had put on my long johns, sweatpants, and long sleeve shirt with a tee shirt on top I began to make my breakfast. I had decided to have scrambled eggs that were cooked to perfection with the yolk golden mixed in with the pure snow white egg white and flakes of pepper sprinkled throughout and toast with butter melted onto the crunchy outside making it soft with homemade strawberry jam spread thick on top. After I had finished my meal I continued getting ready. In doing so I put on the remainder of my clothes, my sweatshirt and hunting pants came next followed by my wool socks and winter hunting boots. Next I checked to make sure my backpack was ready and had all the essentials in it in case something were to happen. Lastly I grabbed my already loaded sleek black shotgun and put on my heaving winter coat, hats and gloves. Now I was ready to begin my hunt. Although adults and children frequently ignore them, at least they make consumers aware of any potentially offensive content. Parents concerned about extremely violent or offensive music can outright refuse to buy the CD in question. Alternatively, parents can research and examine the content. However, stores such as WalMart and K Mart have been known to ask artists to redesign their album covers or to release an edited version of an album, simply because the stores feel a CD is potentially offensive. This practice, however, goes a step too far. No store owner can please all customers. Either sell the CD with the appropriate warning, or choose not to stock it. Additionally, stores that are so worried about sales figures might consider the fact that such adult oriented material may attract a larger, slightly older consumer base, one which would be willing to spend more money on other products. • 22. Inventory And Inventory Control System INTRODUCTION: The more inventory a company has... the less likely they will have what they need. Taichi Ohno What is Inventory? Inventory is considered to be the raw materials, work in process goods or completely finished goods that are a portion of a business s assets that are ready for use or will be ready for sale to customers. Possessing huge amount of inventory for longer period of time is not considered to be usually good for a business because of inventory storage, obsolescence and spoilage costs. On the other hand, we also need to consider that possessing too little inventory isn t good either, because the business runs the risk of losing out on potential sales and potential market shares. (1) In any organization, Inventory Management is a very important concept that is been followed and there is a dedicated team that looks after the planning, scheduling and flow of inventory. Typically there are two standard inventory control systems that are followed within organizations for effective Inventory Management: Push System: The main ideology of push inventory control systems is forecasting inventory needs to satisfy customer demands. Here, companies should make a prediction as to which product the customers would purchase and also determine the quantity of products that will be purchased. Under Western Eyes by Mohanty In this text Mohanty argues that contemporary western feminist writing on Third World women contributes to the reproduction of colonial discourses where women in the South are represented as an undifferentiated other . Mohanty examines how liberal and socialist feminist scholarship use analytics strategies that creates an essentialist construction of the category woman, universalist assumptions of sexist oppression and how this contributes to the perpetuation of colonialist relations between the north and south(Mohanty 1991:55). She criticises Western feminist discourse for constructing the third world woman as a homogeneous powerless and vulnerable group, while women in the North still represent the modern and liberated woman... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She makes an important point when trying to go beyond the female (otherness), by paying careful attention to differences among women themselves, and by putting emphasize on the multiple realties that women faces, and by that trying to uncover universalist interpretations (Parpart and Marchand 1995:6). She reveals the inadequacy of binary categories by showing us how power is defined in binary terms, between the people who have (men) and the people who do not (women). This is a consequence of seeing women as a homogenous group, and contributes to the reinforcement of the binary division between men and women (Mohanty 1991:64). By assuming that women are a already constituted group with the same experiences and interests, gender is looked upon as something that can be applied cross cultures (Mohanty 1991:54), and it also produces an assumption about the average third world woman as poor and uneducated, in contrast to the educated, modern Western women (Mohanty 1991:56). Implicit in the binary analytic lies the assumption that the third world woman only can be liberated through western rationality. Mohanty is making an important point when emphasising the need to challenge these objectifications (Udayagiri 1995:163). Mohantys emphasis on historical, spatial and cultural specificity contributes to important insights on how different contexts influence on women s lives, and challenges the fact that much of the discourse of ... For example, wastewater from showers, washing machines, and dishwater can be reused, mainly for landscape irrigation. The Tea Act heavily impacted the colonists taxes, which is what the colonists were fighting over. Another important Enlightenment thinker, John Locke, also inspired the colonists to revolt because he believed that people were able to revolt when their government was not protecting the natural rights of the people. This discovery was a huge danger to the few manufactures and suppliers of diamonds as with the large amounts, and therefore the increased supply, of diamonds, they would no longer be considered rare/scare [Ivona Vogelsang; 2005]; therefore their value and price would decrease as a result. This can be understood by using the diminishing marginal utility theory, the more people have of something (or the greater the quantity/supply) the less it is valued (the lower the utility) [Michael Parkin et al.; 2010]. The less it is valued, the less people are willing to pay (unless it is price inelastic) as a result decreasing the price of the product/service. Symbolism In Anthem By Ayn Rand If you take myth and folklore, and these things that speak in symbols, they can be interpreted in so many ways that although the actual image is clear enough, the interpretation is infinitely blurred, a sort of enormous rainbow of every possible colour you could imagine (Diana Wynne Jones). Symbols are objects, characters, figures, or colors used to represent abstract ideas or concepts. In Anthem by Ayn Rand, symbols are used throughout the novel, allowing to reveal more hidden information about Equality as a person as well as how it portrays to theme. Throughout the novel, multiple different symbols are being portrayed, although the symbol of light depicts the full meaning of the characters and theme of Anthem. Ayn Rand uses light to symbolize knowledge, hope, freedom, and life. The light symbolizes hope since, it shows how Equality separates himself from collectivism and thinks for himself when he proclaims We made it. We created it. We brought it forth from the night of the ages. We alone. Our hands. Our mind. Ours alone and only (59). By contrast to the light of the box, the City is dark and only lit by candlelight. Therefore the light shows the hope that Equality and all others have of breaking away from the collective society and becoming individuals and to have freedom to be themselves. The discovery of light starts Equality s journey of changing the society and granted him the chance to create a new world where light and other things from the Unmentionable Times exist. The symbolization of the light in Anthem helps characterize Equality as an individual in the novel in various different ways. The light allowed and led Equality to his freedom of being himself rather than characterized as a group with his brothers.
