The problem of Free Will
In the following essay I will describe the problem of free will and explain several different
responses to the problem. These responses will be derived from the determinist, libertarian, and
compatibilist views. I will end the essay by arguing that the compatibilist view seems to best
address the problem of free will, but does not necessarily solve it. The problem of free will arises
from two conflicting ideas. The first idea is that people have free will. Having free will means
that people have the ability to choose and act on what they would like to do. Most people seem
accept this idea easily and live their lives believing that to some extent they are in control of the
choices they make. If this idea is true then people can be held responsible and subsequently
praised or blamed for their choices or actions. For example, a male student named Bob can be
blamed for cheating if he chooses to use his notes while taking his test even though the professor
instructed his class to not use their notes. He can be blamed for cheating because Bob chose to
use his notes on his own and no one forced Bob to cheat. The second of the two conflicting ideas
that most people seem to readily accept is known as determinism. Determinism is at odds with
free will because it states that every event has a cause, meaning even the choices that we make are
not caused by ourselves (Conee and Sider 113). In other words, the cause of something can be
indefinitely traced backwards. Science seems to

The Importance Of Wealth In The Life Of The Society
Wealth is freedom to do as one wishes, without being tied to owing all their life, the idea of
having carefree life of pleasure and fame. It is the admiration, regardless of the flaws that one
might have, it is an illusion. The idea of riches, is the artificially created concept of happiness, that
drives people to being more productive and useful as the members of the society.
The works that have inadvertently interconnected is their themes are happiness, psychology,
productive labour and freedom verses slavery. As what psychologically drives people to work
harder and better, as nothing else, is the unconscious desire to be a freer man. The best way to
motivate people, is giving them loan, that would provide the life they want, but at the same time
restrict their freedom to the extent, where they have no other choice but to contribute to the
society, pay taxes and work. Observationally, it is evident, that people are psychological slaves to
their desires, and exactly this desire, to have more than one needs, or to be someone that one is
not, such as admiration for the rich and famous, is easily manipulated by big corporations today.
Although Smith claims that the money do not carry value, when they are not used to purchase
anything, and of course could end up losing its value, but what it gives is the security, as the goods
do not always give the freedom and security, as they do not guarantee the freedom, but the purchase
of those goods, is what secures the position of

Stakeholder Theory Vs. Stakeholder Thinking
Stakeholder theory and definition
Stakeholder is defined as any group or individual who can affect or is affected by the achievement
of the organization s objectives (Freeman 1984). Stakeholder theory, when introduced in the 1980s,
signify a major change in how relationships within a business might coexist and benefit one another.
The concept of Stakeholder theory or stakeholder thinking is about identifying groups who are
stakeholder in a corporation and manage them. It states that organizations are collections of several
different parties, each with its own goals and objectives. Stakeholder concept has been used, either
explicitly or implicitly, for descriptive purposes, and also as a framework from which different
theories and ideas can be derived. It offers an proper lens for consideration of more composite
perspective of the value that stakeholders seek as well as new ways to measure it. Stakeholder
thinking has emerged to understand the three interrelated business problems indicating the problem
of how value is created and traded, problem of connecting ethics and capitalism, and the problem of
helping managers think about management. Stakeholder theory can be upstretched with a full
different collection of ethical questions without any context to other theories.
Concept of stakeholder theory
Stakeholder theory was introduced by R. Edward Freeman (1984), also known as the father of
stakeholder theory . His theory states that the individuals or groups that may

Proverbs in Things Fall Apart
Proverbs are wise sayings that address the heart of the discourse in any given context, truthfully and
objectively. In Africa and in Nigerian cultures especially, they are considered the reliable horses,
which convey meanings to their destinations or hearts of the listeners. This study investigates
aspects of the meaning of proverbs in the work of a Nigerian author, Achebe s Things Fall Apart. It
is contended that meanings of Nigerian proverbs can be worked out within the semantic, referential,
ideational, stimulus response, realist and contextual theories. Types of meaning and proverbs are
addressed and situated within the two works. It is advanced that proverbs play significant roles in
clarifying, exemplifying, underscoring and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theory: Stimulus Response Types: Denotative, Affective. Analysis: There is a tact advice almost
coinciding with the English proverb, one good turn deserves another here. If a person accords
honor or reverence to the successful ones, it is likely that he is also going to be successful. In
other words, the sense of the proverb is that a person who helps another man helps himself
indirectly as he gets familiar with what that man engages in and this will ultimately lead him also
to greatness, directly or indirectly. 5 A toad does not run in the daytime for nothing.15 Theory:
Ideational Types: Denotative/Stylistic Analysis: The proverb tasks our mental conception or
general knowledge of the toad as a nocturnal animal. If such an animal therefore does run (a lexical
item preferred by the author for metaphorical or stylistic effect, against the normal collocative
word, jump ) in the day, there must be something amiss. The sense of the proverb is that there is a
cause for anything strange that happens; there must be a reason, at least no smoke without fire . A
toad running in daytime is probably pursuing something or certainly something is pursuing it. It has
to do with the cause effect relationship. An old woman is always uneasy when dry bones are
mentioned in a proverb.p.15 Theory: Stimulus Response Types: Denotative/Thematic Analysis:

123rd Street Rap Poem Analysis
The theme of 123rd Street rap is one that can t be compared to any other poem. The reason for
this is that it has such a deep reality to it and it is only a poem. One good reason to love this
poem is it show someone to appreciate the life that one has and to not take what you have for
granted. The line Automatic bullets bounce off stoop steps (Perdomo 2) should make anyone
who doesn t live this everyday reality appreciate the life that they live. The poet saw the life that
people have to live and put it into words and makes you understand in just a few lines. Perdomo
really paints a picture in the eyes of someone who goes through a harsh upbringing. It is evident
to see that the person that he is talking about is having an internal conflict. This is noticeable by
the description of the neighborhood, even though it is described to be a beautiful place it is also
made out to be a very violent place that many may not survive. The author uses theme is a clear
but unclear way making the reader realize that life is all about how one can perceive it weather
the situation is good or bad. When first reading this poem the theme might be hard to understand
for some but with lines such as Church bells bong for drunken mourners (Perdomo 6) it is evident
that it is one that should be taken into consideration. The mentality of Perdomo is visible to
comprehend with his downplay of life in Harlem. Although he uses bad things to describe life
below the poverty line in this city he able to

Gender Roles In Keats, Lady Of Shalott, And Goblin Market
Legends, myths and historical imaginings have been used for centuries to tell moral lessons,
stories of love and tragedy, and offer fantasy and magic in return. John Keats, Alfred Tennyson, and
Christina Rossetti all managed to incorporate legend or fantasy into their poems in way in which
they can be used as further insight into the authors ideologies and personal desires. In Ode on a
Grecian Urn, The Lady of Shalott , and Goblin Market all use legend, myth and historical
imagination to describe the authors ideas of desire, innocence, tragedy and gender roles.
Keats uses the image on the urn to express desire that can never be realized. The urn depicts a
scene of a man and a woman about to kiss, but this image is frozen in time. This ... Show more

In Goblin Market men are absent, but Laura and Lizzie still grow up to be wives to these un
mentioned men, insinuating in this tale that that is there only job as women should only be
wives and mothers when older. In The Lady of Shalott , it is very clear that women should
remain in the domestic space, just as the Lady remains trapped in her tower with her weaving,
while men may be in public, just as Lancelot can travel to Camelot and be there among people and
not secluded. These stories well define the Victorian gender normalities where ladies must remain
pure and virtuous and must remain in the house with their sewing or painting or what not while the
men can travel around town and enjoy clubs and public events without having to be guarded by
anyone. They may also take jobs and roles other than just being husbands and fathers. While these
poems may have been myth, the gender roles were a great reality in the 19th

Random Walk Theory And Behavioral Finance Theory
CHAPTER TWO: LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1Introduction This chapter will address theories relevant to the behavior of financial markets and
specifically stock prices movement on release of new information into the market, followed by the
determinants of stock price, international and local empirical evidence and finally a summary of the
chapter.
2.2Theoretical Review
This section will review the theories that will guide the study and their relevance to the study. The
theories to be reviewed include; Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH), Random WalkTheory and
Behavioral Finance Theory.

(2001), behavioral finance is the study of how psychology affects financial decision making
processes and financial markets. Sewell (2007) defined it as the study of the influence of psychology
on the behavior of financial practitioners and the subsequent effect on markets. It is of interest
because it helps explain why and how markets might be inefficient. Behavioral finance is an attempt
to explain and increase understanding of the reasoning patterns of investors, including the
emotional processes involved and the degree to which they influence the decision making process

Seaworld Park, California, Florida, And Texas
SeaWorld opened in 1964 along the Mission Bay in San Diego, stretching a total of 21 acres.
When they first started, their park only had 45 employees, a few dolphins, sea lions, and two
saltwater aquariums. Today, several parks are spread out throughout the southern United States
in California, Florida, and Texas. SeaWorld provides various shows every day with special perks
for high paying guests, such as swimming with dolphins and other sea dwellers. A majority of
their shows include orcas, otherwise known as killer whales. Recently, these majestic beasts have
been living up to those names, attacking, mauling, and fatally injuring the parks own trainers.
Blackfish, a documentary released in 2013, gets up close and personal with these stories of
attack, to bring us countless reasons why orcas, and other marine life, should be left to live in
their natural habitats, instead of in the concrete cells they rot in now. Orca pods are part of a
matriarchal society, the females are more dominant and this can cause disputes between the alphas.
When orcas are confined to a small space, these fights can get out of hand, disallowing the least
dominant one to run, resulting in injury and death to the whales. Over the past 35 years there have
been four deaths and countless injuries, and each time SeaWorld has placed the blame upon the
trainers, explaining they hadn t completed basic safety procedures. Orcas should not be kept in
captivity for many reasons. Firstly, they are

Environmentalism And Religion
The problem with some environmentalist is putting nature before God. Rich Deem stated that,
Many Christians have reacted against the environmental movement, probably because of the
tendency by many environmentalists not only to protect the earth and its creatures, but to actually
worship the creation instead of the creator (2009). In the Bible, Exodus 20:3 4 say, You must not
have any other god but me. You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of
anything in the heavens or on the earthor in the sea (NLT). Anything or anybody that is worship or
placed before God is considered an idol. True believing Christians has a problem with
environmentalists that believe the environment is the reason why we have life. The world

A Brief Discussion on the Death Penalty
The death penalty has been an ongoing debate for a long period of time. There are many
Americans who are for the death penalty and it seems just as many against it. Most do not
believe that this country will ever come to an agreement on the subject. It is best that the
government allows each state to decide how it will handle its criminals. In recent news, in the
state of Oklahoma Clayton Lockett s botched execution created a nationwide revisiting of the
death penalty. Politicians are now suggesting that a firing squad replace lethal injections. He
died a massive heart attack it took 40 minutes to die. He was charge with raped first degree and

Battle Of Wilson s Creek Essay
THE BATTLE OF WILSON S CREEK
Introduction The Civil War in Missouri began in 1861 with The Battle of Wilson s Creek. On
August 10, 1861 Union and Confederate forces clashed in a town southwest of Springfield and
struggled bitterly for control of Missouri in the Civil War s first year.1
History Missouri, with its strategic position on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers was viewed by
the federal government as vital to Union success. This created a unique set of border state politics
between Missouri s residents and its leaders.
In 1861, Missourians could be divided into three political categories, conditional Unionists,
secessionists and unconditional Unionists. The majority of Missourians were conditional Unionists

On June 11, 1861 Governor Jackson met with General Lyon in an attempt at compromise. After
five hours with no agreement Lyon declared war against all secessionists within Missouri and
started mobilizing his army. This began a two month campaign to drive the secessionists out of
Missouri and set into motion the events leading up to the Battle of Wilson s Creek.5 Planning
/Preparation Lyon, receiving reinforcements from Kansas, launched attacks that drove the newly
formed Missouri State Guard into the southwestern corner of the state. Battles at Boonville
Missouri on June 17 and Carthage on July 5 started to set the tone for battles to come. By
August, more than 7,000 men were in Springfield Missouri under the command of General
Lyon.6 Major General Sterling Price, commander of the Missouri State Guard, needed help to
oppose Lyon s forces in Springfield. He called upon Confederate commander Ben McCulloch.
McCulloch agreed and moved 5,000 men into Missouri. This proved to be the first invasion of
Confederate troops into Union territory. After McCulloch s men joined Price s they set out for
Springfield. During the advance, McCulloch and Price had several skirmishes with Lyon, and
eventually settled into camp at Wilson s Creek on August 6. The local

Ethos Of Apollo 11
In 1969, the Apollo 11 launch happened and became something rightfully important to the
United States. It was the talk of every news stations and newspapers. These two men, Neil
Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin had risked their lives to do something the whole world had not done
before. They became the first men to walk the moon and this became something historical. After
walking the moon, they placed the American flag on it too, and to this day it is still there. With
all the newspapers talking about this, one that caught people s eyes was the Man Takes First
Steps on The Moon. The audience was the people who were concerned about the first man
landing on outer space. This was something abnormal at the time and nobody really had a clue
how a human body can manage this. Also, this event was used to see the improvement of human
success and what they have been capable of doing. Regarding space, it wasn t something that
was really used, it was more like an illusion and seemed so close but far away at the same time.
This text used ethos, and logos to support information about the moon s successful landing and
provide it for the audience. For logos, the fact that a well known newspaper publisher such as the
Times wrote about it shows that it is a reliable source. Also that fact that the story was well written
and full of facts to make the audience believe it more. With pathos, the kind of emotion, it was
giving the audience was more about happiness and being proud of the US for their

Homelessness And The Homeless Youth
Homelessness is a major problem in the United States. An incredibly vulnerable group is the
homeless youth due to their young age and lack of education. According to Edidin, Ganim,
Hunter, Karnik (2012) on any particular night in the United States there are ~2 million homeless
youth living on the streets, in shelters, or in other temporary accommodation. Youth become
homeless for multiple reasons whether it be because they have aged out of foster care, ran from
home, were kicked out of their home, or because they have become homeless along with their
family members. Within the umbrella categorization of homeless youth there are high at risk
subgroups, common misconceptions, and a serious concern of lack of support and medical
services. Homeless youth face an abundance of challenges, especially if they are on their own,
such as finding food, shelter, income, and potential medical expenses. Some youth experience
additional hardship by facing the effects of abuse they endured at their previous place of residence.
According to the National Conference of State Legislators (2013) 46 percent of runaway and
homeless youth reported physical abuse, 38 percent reported emotional abuse, and 17 percent
reported being forced into unwanted sexual activity by a family or household member. Therefore,
the chances of emotional vulnerability are high. A common misconception of homeless youth is
that even if they do become homeless they are not homeless for long. The National Alliance to End

Shawshank Redemption Reflection
The movie our class watched and reviewing is Shawshank Redemption. This movie is directed
by Frank Darabot and the producer of the film is Niki Marvin. The movie was released on
October 14th, 1994. Shawshank Redemption is a R Rated movie, which, is intended for the
mature. Andy Dufresne is the main character in this film, Andy was acted out by Tim Robbins.
There is a narrator in the movie (which, narrators about Andy as time goes by in Shawshank prison)
was narrated by Morgan Freeman. This narrator is Ellis Boyd Redding or Red, an inmate and
friend to Andy. The last characters I believe to play a major role in the movie is the Warden of
Shawshank, Warden Norton is played by Bob Gunton; and Captain Hadley (Clancy Brown).
Andy Dufresne was a successful Vice President banker, that was tried and convicted for the
murder of his wife and the man whom his wife cheated on. In 1947, Andy was sent to
Shawshank to serve two murder charges or two life sentences. Dufresne arrives at Shawshank
with a bus full of new inmates and meets the guards and Warden Norton. The first years (two
years) are brutal for Andy. He doesn t really have any friends and he is harassed by a group of
people called the sisters. Overtime he builds a relationship with Red and the other friends of Red.
He shows off his banker skills with Hadley and becomes a pet to the Warden. The Warden helps
Andy with harassment from the sisters and excuses labor for him. Officer Hadley ends up beating

Little Boy Research Paper
The city was hidden by that awful cloud . . . boiling up, mushrooming, terrible and incredibly
tall, said Colonel Paul Tibbets, pilot of the modified B 29 bomber that dropped the world s first
atomic bomb over Hiroshima. The bombings resulted in the death of thousands, including not only
Japanese citizens, forces, and military but also American captive soldiers. In the midst of World
War II the United States forced Japan to surrender by dropping bombs in the major cities of
Hiroshimaand Nagasaki. They released the second atomic bomb shortly after, in Nagasaki, Japan.
Little Boy and Fat Man were the first atomic bombs created, and delivered revolutionary damage.
Little Boy was the first bomb to detonate over Japan. Approximately 90% of people within half a
mile from the location of the explosion died almost instantly. Only about 10% of buildings in
Hiroshima remained standing or undamaged. The massive explosion happened so fast that clothing

There are many cheap readily available cakes options in the market and they can be bought
easily. Hence, it was suggested that in order to stay competitive in the cake industry, MugMix
has to keep the price of the premixes low. Another concern that was being pointed out was the
taste of the premixes cakes. The cakes should taste nice, rivalling that of those in confectioneries
such that cake lovers would want to purchase many sachets of it. The flavours that MugMix
produce must be unique such that there is no close substitute to it. Some of the recommended
flavours by the interviewees are Laksa, Chendol and Avocado flavours. Moving on, the
interviewees are also quite concern with the shelf life of cake mixes. To encourage consumers to
purchase the premixes in large quantities, they must be able to be stored for a long period of time.
Therefore, preservatives may have to be added in as part of the premix. This brings us to the next
point which is the health issues. The drawbacks with preservatives is undeniably the health issues.

Different Types Of Computer Science Nerds
I have attended several colleges in my lifetime in the pursuit of a Computer Science degree.
Although the colleges I have attended are diverse, the classes are challenging, and the curriculum
differs from school to school, the one constant at every college seems to be the computer science
majors. Computer science majors at every college I have attended can be classified into three main
categories; Geeks, Nerds, and Dorks. The computerscience Geek can be classified as a character
who spends vast amounts of time and energy in a certain special, yet conventional area, for
example, computer programming or troubleshooting, but not necessarily computers or technology.

Nommo Literature Review
Nommo is the generating and sustaining powers of the creative word, which is manifested in
characteristics of African orality (Bates, Redrawing Afrocentrism: Visual Nommo in George H.
Ben Johnson s Editorial Cartoons). Orality is the notion that the word has power and force
(Howard). In this literature review, I will review the key theorists who analyze the oratory of
Nommo and their specific definitions of Nommo. In addition, this review will make note of the
evolution of Nommo and its different applications. Lastly, this review will close with the
explanation of the significance of Nommo to communicationstudies. Various scholars study the
idea of Nommo and the following is the ways they define it. Theorist Molefi Assante defines
Nommo as the word, which hold a transforming power of vocal expression. Asante also says that
Nommo differs from the Greek concept logos, in that Nommo includes creative arts, such as
literature, orature, and painting. These scholars define Nommo as the creative power of the spoken
word, which brings about harmony and balance (Cummings). Cummings and Roy also states that
Nommo goes beyond the mere use of words, phrases, or linguistic conventions; it also signifies
creating and sustaining of language that inform every facet of African Americanlife. Sheena
Howard defines Nommo as a delivery style that is unique to African Americans. Nommo is also
defined as not only telling a story through spoken word, but it gives the story heart, lungs

Failure Of Reconstruction Essay
The Union victory after the Civil War in 1865 may had given roughly 4 million slaves their
freedom, however the process of rebuilding the South during the Reconstruction period introduced a
new set of significant challenges. In order to reconstruct the country following the Civil War and
the abolition of slavery, the federal government and Republican controlled state governments in the
southern regions made efforts to rebuild the Southern economy and advance conditions of freedom.
Following the Civil War, majority of white Southerners opposed Reconstruction and the Republican

During the period of Reconstruction, lasting from 1865 to 1877, the United States Congress of the
United States enacted several amendments the promoted civil and political rights for African
Americans in the south. The most prominent amendments passed including the Thirteenth,
Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments. The Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery and

Agile Development And Project Management Essay
Section 2: Agile
Agile development and project management has its roots in the Information Technology world. A
large portion of the information that follows in the next two chapters refers to IT related
development and projects. That being said, Agile is not limited to IT and in fact the model is
expanding well beyond strictly IT.
Agile is a necessary and effective part of the evolution of project. As stated previously, in today s
environment traditional or plan driven Project Management typically defines project success as
delivering on time, within budget, and meeting requirements . In order to meet this definition of
success, we have matured project management processes to try and manage what is a natural
occurrence: chaos.
In the past, the folly of this approach was less apparent, as the speed of change was significantly
less. In today s business environment, it is much more obvious.
In traditional project management we are asking the customer to define requirements early in the
process, assuming the right people are in place and have the ability to foresee what the business
will look like in the future. We then use those requirements to build the product and typically either
avoid change or make the change process so difficult it is not worth the effort.
The unintended outcome is that approach removes creativity and flexibility from the development
process.
This drive to create a self fulfilling prophecy will deliver a product sometime in the future that

The Sunflower By Simon Wiesenthal
Sunflower dilemma In The Sunflower book by Simon wiesenthal there is a passage that includes
a delama; Karl ( a dying nazi soldier) was asking for forgiveness for his actions from Simon (a

religion and think about who has the ability to forgive him/her. In the book karl admitted to seeing
the family that he shot at jump out the window then Then from the other windows fell burning

The Impact Of English As A Lingua Franca
English has undergone some changes in relation to its status in the world. Some years ago, it only
became the first or second language for several countries. Nowadays, alongside with the
development of information, communication, and technology the status of English becomes a
lingua franca in the world. That is, a language that is used as a means of communication between
people with different language. This change, of course, brings some impacts in the roles of English
as a language. English is not seen as a language for identity anymore. Yet, it functions mainly as a
means of communication. Added to this, the change of the English status as a lingua francawill also
impact to the educational sector especially in English Language Teaching (ELT). With regard to
this issue, this paper tries to present the notion of English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) and its
implication to the teaching learning process especially in Indonesian context.

It is used as a bridge for linking two or more different groups. In communication, especially in
bilingual and multilingual society, people have to deal with others in order to communicate

language on deciding lingua franca in order to satisfy the desire of social and economic interaction.
Therefore, we can infer that lingua franca facilitates communication for many purposes between

When The Wolves Came In The Gettin Analysis
Constant separation and tension between blacks and whites is at the forefront of Kyle Abraham s
When the Wolves Came In. Performed first in 2015, the piece consists of three narratives including
When the Wolves Came In, Hallowed, and The Gettin . This reflection and interpretation will be
solely based on the third installment of the piece. The Gettin brings racial issues into view through
the different interactions between each performer and through dancer and background projection
relations. The relationship and mood between each performer depending on the others race is
extremely prevalent throughout The Gettin . For many portions of the choreography, specifically,
when the stage is made up of only African Americans the mood is much more positive and happy.
For example, during one of the scenes mid way through When the Wolves Came In, the stage is
accompanied by two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scene begins with the black gentleman on the floor and the white gentleman on his knees. They
begin running in circles facing one another. As they circle one another, they take turns not with
punches, but with dance moves. They run across the stage separated with subtle arm and shoulder
movements that then transform into larger full arm lifts and quick spins. They proceed to perform
the same motions and moves taking small breaks in between each set of to stare down one another.
At one point they come together center stage and perform contact improvisation. The white male
pressed his head into the side of the black man affecting his movement as they slowly come to their
feet. All while, the background music supports this idea of tension between the two with soft yet
powerful drum beats, light snares, and the sound of a woman softly wailing in pain. All of these
movements, interactions, and sounds complete a mood of separation, pain, and

Compare And Contrast Hemingway And Faulkner s Writing Style
Ernest Hemingway and William Faulkner were two of the most influential writers of the twentieth
century. While they lived during the same period, their writing styles differed drastically. This can
be seen in texts such as Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants and A Clean, Well Lighted Place,
and Faulkner s Barn Burning . Hemingway s style puts little focus on specific characterdetails,
which makes his stories seem like they could be about any person, including the reader, while
Faulkner s style puts a lot of focus on specific character details, which makes every detail and every
character seem important to the reader. Both authors have styles indirect to their points, which
forces the readers to figure out information on their own and leaves the purposes of texts more open
to interpretation.
The writing styles of Hemingway and Faulkner differ in numerous ways, the most prominent of
which being their narrative focus. With Hemingway writing short, simple sentences, there was
little discussion of the specific traits of each of characters in his stories. In both Hills Like White
Elephants and A Clean, Well Lighted Place, the main characters are almost all unnamed. They
lack specific ages, races, or nationalities. The only details included about the characters are those
that are directly involved with the plot, such as in A Clean, Well Lighted Place, where the waiters
are labeled as being young and old . By not having any certain traits tied to the main characters,
Hemingway allows for those characters to be anyone. When the reader reads about a situation
happening to a person, they have an easier time empathizing with them because the character can
be more like them. This also allows for characters to represent concepts the reader can understand,
either by living them out on a daily basis or seeing them lived out through other people. Unlike
Hemingway s few details about characters, Faulkner goes into depth about all the characters in his
stories, including his short story Barn Burning . At one point, the main character said this when
describing his father, There was something about his wolflike independence and even courage when
the advantage was at least neutral which impressed strangers, as

Disruption Of Gender Roles In Macbeth
In Shakespeare s play, Macbeth, Lady Macbeth s portrayal begins with the dominant elements of her
ambitious and successful plotting of Duncan s demise from the throne and the effective rhetorical
manipulation of her husband to be more like a man. This disruption of gender roles presented in
Macbethis demonstrated through Lady Macbeth s place as the dominant role in their marriage;
because on many occasions, she rules her husband and dictates his actions through coercion. This
shows that genderis out of its traditional order, and by Shakespeare associating her with
traditionally male imagery, he is showing that masculinity is linked to power and ambition in
society.
Because she is portrayed as the more dominant individual in their marriage,

The Best Day Of My Life Essay
Thinking back on an event or a day that I would entitle the best day of my life was more of a

brain, not letting me suppress it. The memory of my 16th birthday. Now I know you may wonder
why I choose this particular day to be my top choice out my 17 years of life, but it was just
something about this time that makes it different than any other ordinary day.
It all started early morning on the twenty sixth day of May 2016, when my mom came into my

My Life Of High School
When people used to tell me that high school would be the best four years of my life, I never

I was mentally preparing myself to walk into the doors of Lasalle Peru High School, and today I am
mentally preparing myself to walk out of the doors of Streator High School. Time truly does fly
when you are having fun, I wish I could go back just to feel everything one more time. I
remember the first day of high school as a freshman, I walked in with an aircast on my right
ankle because I had fractured it a few weeks before. I remember walking in with a shirt that said
Totally Monday , a grey sweater, and with salmon colored shorts. My hair was long, I had
braces, clear skin, and an attitude that showed how excited I was for a change. I came from a
small school in a small town, so going to LP was a huge change for me. We had Link Leaders
running around the first day to guide the freshman around the school which was exciting. Another
thing that was exciting was the hot lunches that they had there! I was so excited to have hot
lunch everyday, when I was in grade school they didn t serve hot food everyday. I remember the

physical dangers of smoking. Although the number of people who smoke has declined, if the
current rates remain the same, nearly 6 million Americans who are alive today and under the age

Analysis Of Full Metal Jacket
There are films created for almost every historical event, even more so if the event majorly
impacted people on a national scale. The amount of films dedicated to different wars seems
endless, with ever way having at least two different view there is always more options to create
a movie on the same war only putting different spin on it. The movie that I have chosen that
represents a part of the 1960 s is Full Metal Jacket produced by Stanley Kubrick. The movie is
centered around one individual, Joker, who starts off in marine corps boot camp and then
eventually is sent to Vietnam. Full Metal Jacket showcases a seemingly accurate view of how
soldiers viewed the war, and what they go through. The movie is separated into two parts, boot
camp and then working in Vietnam. Full Metal Jacket is based on an adaption of the book The
Short Timers by Gustav Hasford which is a semi autobiographical novel. Only a portion of the
60 s was captured in Full Metal Jacket, however, it gives great insight on soldiers view on the
war. The first half of the movie is depicting the abuse and struggles of marine corps boot camp.
The movie beings with drill sergeant Hartman belittling all the individuals who came into boot
camp, he calls them worthless and degrades them. The harshness of Hartman may seem over
exaggerated, however, from growing up with a father in the military and hearing stories of his days
in boot camp, I know that Hartman s attitude was only slightly exaggerated. Leonard, who is

Comparison of the Characters Cyrano and Christian in...
From the play Cyrano de Bergerac, two of the main characters are at odds fighting to win the
heart of the same girl. Cyrano and Christian play as competing romantic heroes in their story,
both hopeless dreamers of love and lust, both bold in their own aspects as well as incredibly
insecure all at once. They also share the quality of great loyalty, and willingness to drop anything
to come to the rescue of a friend. Physically, they are opposites; Christian is beautiful, and
Cyrano thinks himself an atrocity. Their intellectual capabilities are also at completely different
ends of the spectrum; Christian is a bumbling fool, and Cyrano can become a master at whatever
task he chooses. In the aspect of poetry and the art of words, Cyrano is a true Shakespeare, and
Christian is the equivalent of a second grader at best. These characters seem to be foils and, at
the same time, they are wildly alike. One characteristic that they most obviously share is their
quality of being complete and hopeless romantics. Her smile sees pearled perfection. She can knit
grace from a twine of air. The heavens sit in every gesture. Of divinities she s most divine

Summary And Slavery In Billy Budd By Herman Melville
Billy Budd is one of Herman Melville s final works that was published years after his passing in
1891. The novella is based on mutinies and the unfair treatment that individuals face when working
at sea. Herman Melville is able to portray a well developed novella through his extensive research
and knowledge about mutinies, his interesting background, and his ability to relate characters from
his own life to the story.
The Mutiny Act is a bill brought out by the government, in order to outlaw the rebelling against
people of authority. Although mutinies are banned by law, there have been a few instances where
individuals still decide to revolt against officers that are in charge. The Nore Mutiny of May 1797
is one of the grandest rebellions that has ever occurred in England. The Nore mutiny takes place a
month after the successful uprising of Spithead anchorage near Portsmouth (Awcock On this Day:
The Nore Mutiny, 12th May 1797). In Spithead, all demands; for increased wages, better working
conditions, and a decrease in work hours have been met. The successful demands made the
individuals at Nore want to retain the same working conditions as the people at Spithead. The Nore
Mutiny occurred during the time when Great Britain was at war with France, therefore, due to the
economic restraints that the war had caused, the government could not give the people at Nore the
demands that they desperately sought for (Awcock On this Day: The Nore Mutiny, 12th May 1797).

How Did Nathan Hale Influence The Military
Nathan Hale was born in Coventry, Connecticut, in 1755 to Richard Hale and Elizabeth Strong,
his parents. In 1768, when he was fourteen years old, he was sent to Yale College with his
brother, Enoch. Nathan was a classmate of a patriot spy. His name was Benjamin Tallmadge.
Nathan graduated with first class honors at the age of 18 and became a teacher. He was the first
in East Haddam and later in New London. After the Revolutionary War began, he joined a
Connecticut militia and was elected first lieutenant. It has been suggested that he was unsure as
to whether he wanted to fight, or whether he was hindered because his teaching contract in New
London did not expire until several months later, in July 1775. On July 4, 1775, Hale received a
letter from his classmate and friend, who had gone to Boston to see the siege for himself. He
wrote to Hale, Was I in your condition, I think the more extensive service would be my choice.
Tallmadge s letter was so inspiring that, several days later, Hale accepted a commission as first

Predictive analysis considers previous data and predicts future data points, but predictive analysis
fails to consider new variables to practice and judge results. In this case, hypothesis helps to
analyze old data to set benchmark and set goal to achieve the new variable modified.
Hypothesis helps in making decision by comparing benchmark values and present results with the
variables applied. If Hypothesis is used to predict the future results this will be more about decision
to conclude whether to implement/accept or reject. Again, Hypothesis also use all statistical modals

significant Parallel that can be made between the story and 18th century American Society is the
use of science to explain the rank of creatures in nature. The Mismeasure of Man by Stephen Jay
Gould is an important tool in critiquing the misuse of science to justify social inequalities such

The Consequences Of The Philadelphia Experiment
The Philadelphia Experiment during World War II to believers is a highly technical experiment
that took place in the Philadelphia Navy yard in 1943. This experiment was also called, Project
Rainbow, and is said to consist of the U.S. Navy destroyer called the USS Eldridge being made
invisible then teleported to Norfolk Docks four hundred miles away then teleported back. This
theory also supports the idea that when the ship got back to Philadelphia there were fatal
consequences for the crew on deck. This was in attempts to counteract German u boats as they
had a major advantage over U.S. warships the warships are slow and have large turning radius. A
man by the name of Morris Ketchum Jessup received notes from Carlos Allende (Carl Allen) in a
copy of Jessup s book, The Case for the UFO. These notes outlined what Allende thought of Jessup
s ideas in the book, Allende actual disproved one idea, but this sparked Jessup s attention. Soon
Jessup moved on to researching Einstein s unified field theory, he published this research. Allende
soon responded in a series letters to Jessup describing the Philadelphia Experimentin much detail.
This lead Jessup to research further into this possibility, obtaining more and more information
Jessup was very close to a breakthrough. While Jessup s and Allende s agreement has some
backing, it is a far out view that is hard to believe as there is evidence to rebuttal the points made.
The other side of the story is backed by the United

Now Erdahl resides in Princeton, New Jersey were he is an Artist‐in‐resident at the Arts
Council of Princeton.
Thaddeus Erdahl is interested in people and they re stories. By the use of ceramics and his glazing
technics he is able to show others the different layers of an identity. By layering textures such as
hole patterns, cracking glaze, dripping glaze, his work takes on a whole new form. In his artist
statement he says, Ceramic sculpture and portraiture, in particular, are forms of a visual narration
that I use to satisfy my urge for documenting what I see in human nature. Working with concepts
that are personal and sometimes narcissistic perceptions of the gloomy side of life, humor is my
buffer. I think these statements are key to understanding Thaddeus Erdahl s work. I feel they are
three framework that everything else, every work is derived from. Looking at his work, it

Apostle Peter And The Last Supper
In Gabriel Sabloff s Apostle Peter and The Last Supper, Sobloff portrays a faithful and powerful
biblical story of dedication, forgiveness, prayer and a message that anything is possible if we
have God in our hearts. This film, stars Robert Loggia, Bruce Marchiano, and Laurence Fuller. This
story is set in Rome in 670 A.D, when Christians were being persecuted for their faith. The Apostle
Peter relives the time he spent with Jesus, from the inspirational Last Supper to the Garden of
Gethsemane. This movie is not only about Jesus, but it also describes the personalities of the
apostles themselves.
In the movie, Apostle Peter has been imprisoned for his believes, he is sentenced to die by
crucifixion. The emperor has announced that followers of Christ should be hunted and persecuted
for their beliefs. While in jail Peter tells the story of Jesus to a young guard named Martinian
(Laurence Fuller) who is more interested in learning about Jesus than he lets on. Though Martinian
risks everything by fraternizing with the Christian prisoner he pressures Peter to tell him of Jesus,
His Message, and his journey with Jesus.
One of the differences between the movie and the Bible is the fact that only the 12 disciples were
present in Jesus Sermon on the Mount when the Bible describes the scene as being crowds
gathering, Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His
disciples came to him, and he began to teach them. (Matt 5:1).

Short Note On Cutting My Hair
I stood there with the dull, black, kitchen scissors in my hand opening and closing them in
thoughtful anticipation. This was it. This was the moment I decided to be recklessly happy. I
had wanted a haircut for a long time and now I was going to get what I wanted regardless of the
consequences. On November 15, 2015, I decided to cut all of my hair off which gave me the
courage to be myself whilst handling the consequences, and through it all I learned that my
happinesswas more important than making others happy. The decision to cut my hair was not a
quick one, I deliberated on what to do for years. I first got the idea to cut my hair four years ago
when I was twelve. I did not mean a trim or even a few inches off. I wanted a pixie cut. This was a
shock to my parents because I had always had long hair. The most I had ever cut was an inch or
two. They were horrified when I cheerfully presented them with a picture of the haircut I wanted.
My parents had a stunned looks on their faces, and in unison they said No . I, for the life of me,
could not figure out why they reacted so badly. I began to develop a plan. I would begin the
process of cutting my hair by giving myself bangs. A few weeks passed and then I did it. I grabbed
a slightly dulled pair of scissors, parted my hair from left to right near the front of my face, wrapped
a hair tie around it and braced myself. I took a deep breath and placed the scissors right above the
tie and cut it off. Six inches of hair fell into

Australian Sports In The 1950s
Sport in Australia has grown increasingly important from 1945 to the present day as more
traditional sports soon expanded into a wider variety of sports with many factors contributing to this
change. As a result of the war, many men wanted membership opportunities to sporting clubs to
reinforce the bonding of mateship they gained during the war. As well as Australian men getting
more involved in sports, migrants from European countries started arriving in Australia, they also
brought with them an interest in sports and in particular soccer. As the growing popularity of soccer
was introduced it increased interest in more cultures to build clubs originating from their own
country impacting on Australia s multicultural upbringing. From the 1970s... Show more content on

This includes factors such as sporting competitions and television expansion. This has left a
positive impact on Australia as a nation because of the way our lifestyle has changed in the
ways of pop culture as we are now a country which is connected to others throughout the world.
The increase in growth of popularity in sports throughout the years has lead to an increase of
Australian viewers of sports making our national identity stronger in the terms of being a sports
mad country. Many clubs throughout Australia have been built by migrants from across the
globe which helped build our culture of sports and a multicultural society therefore leaving a
positive impact on the Australian people. The negative impacts that the increase of popular
culture had on sports was it drew it big television companies to pay large sums of money to
sponsor certain players, teams or competition leaving some of the many role models of the
sporting industry to let down there fans. Television is also have left negative impact on sports as
it allowed the companies to dictate when the games would be played to allow maximum audience.
Many people would argue that this is a bad decision because the times may not be best suited to
play that type of game and could injure the players because it could be too hot or too cold at the
time. Another negative impact of television is it lead to Australians becoming increasing unfit

  • 2. The problem of Free Will In the following essay I will describe the problem of free will and explain several different responses to the problem. These responses will be derived from the determinist, libertarian, and compatibilist views. I will end the essay by arguing that the compatibilist view seems to best address the problem of free will, but does not necessarily solve it. The problem of free will arises from two conflicting ideas. The first idea is that people have free will. Having free will means that people have the ability to choose and act on what they would like to do. Most people seem accept this idea easily and live their lives believing that to some extent they are in control of the choices they make. If this idea is true then people can be held responsible and subsequently praised or blamed for their choices or actions. For example, a male student named Bob can be blamed for cheating if he chooses to use his notes while taking his test even though the professor instructed his class to not use their notes. He can be blamed for cheating because Bob chose to use his notes on his own and no one forced Bob to cheat. The second of the two conflicting ideas that most people seem to readily accept is known as determinism. Determinism is at odds with free will because it states that every event has a cause, meaning even the choices that we make are not caused by ourselves (Conee and Sider 113). In other words, the cause of something can be indefinitely traced backwards. Science seems to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of Wealth In The Life Of The Society Wealth is freedom to do as one wishes, without being tied to owing all their life, the idea of having carefree life of pleasure and fame. It is the admiration, regardless of the flaws that one might have, it is an illusion. The idea of riches, is the artificially created concept of happiness, that drives people to being more productive and useful as the members of the society. The works that have inadvertently interconnected is their themes are happiness, psychology, productive labour and freedom verses slavery. As what psychologically drives people to work harder and better, as nothing else, is the unconscious desire to be a freer man. The best way to motivate people, is giving them loan, that would provide the life they want, but at the same time restrict their freedom to the extent, where they have no other choice but to contribute to the society, pay taxes and work. Observationally, it is evident, that people are psychological slaves to their desires, and exactly this desire, to have more than one needs, or to be someone that one is not, such as admiration for the rich and famous, is easily manipulated by big corporations today. Although Smith claims that the money do not carry value, when they are not used to purchase anything, and of course could end up losing its value, but what it gives is the security, as the goods do not always give the freedom and security, as they do not guarantee the freedom, but the purchase of those goods, is what secures the position of ... • 4. Stakeholder Theory Vs. Stakeholder Thinking Stakeholder theory and definition Stakeholder is defined as any group or individual who can affect or is affected by the achievement of the organization s objectives (Freeman 1984). Stakeholder theory, when introduced in the 1980s, signify a major change in how relationships within a business might coexist and benefit one another. The concept of Stakeholder theory or stakeholder thinking is about identifying groups who are stakeholder in a corporation and manage them. It states that organizations are collections of several different parties, each with its own goals and objectives. Stakeholder concept has been used, either explicitly or implicitly, for descriptive purposes, and also as a framework from which different theories and ideas can be derived. It offers an proper lens for consideration of more composite perspective of the value that stakeholders seek as well as new ways to measure it. Stakeholder thinking has emerged to understand the three interrelated business problems indicating the problem of how value is created and traded, problem of connecting ethics and capitalism, and the problem of helping managers think about management. Stakeholder theory can be upstretched with a full different collection of ethical questions without any context to other theories. Concept of stakeholder theory Stakeholder theory was introduced by R. Edward Freeman (1984), also known as the father of stakeholder theory . The sense of the proverb is that there is a cause for anything strange that happens; there must be a reason, at least no smoke without fire . • 6. 123rd Street Rap Poem Analysis The theme of 123rd Street rap is one that can t be compared to any other poem. The reason for this is that it has such a deep reality to it and it is only a poem. One good reason to love this poem is it show someone to appreciate the life that one has and to not take what you have for granted. The line Automatic bullets bounce off stoop steps (Perdomo 2) should make anyone who doesn t live this everyday reality appreciate the life that they live. The poet saw the life that people have to live and put it into words and makes you understand in just a few lines. Perdomo really paints a picture in the eyes of someone who goes through a harsh upbringing. It is evident to see that the person that he is talking about is having an internal conflict. This is noticeable by the description of the neighborhood, even though it is described to be a beautiful place it is also made out to be a very violent place that many may not survive. The author uses theme is a clear but unclear way making the reader realize that life is all about how one can perceive it weather the situation is good or bad. When first reading this poem the theme might be hard to understand for some but with lines such as Church bells bong for drunken mourners (Perdomo 6) it is evident that it is one that should be taken into consideration. The mentality of Perdomo is visible to comprehend with his downplay of life in Harlem. Although he uses bad things to describe life below the poverty line in this city he able to ... • 24. Agile Development And Project Management Essay Section 2: Agile Agile development and project management has its roots in the Information Technology world. A large portion of the information that follows in the next two chapters refers to IT related development and projects. That being said, Agile is not limited to IT and in fact the model is expanding well beyond strictly IT. Agile is a necessary and effective part of the evolution of project. As stated previously, in today s environment traditional or plan driven Project Management typically defines project success as delivering on time, within budget, and meeting requirements . In order to meet this definition of success, we have matured project management processes to try and manage what is a natural occurrence: chaos. In the past, the folly of this approach was less apparent, as the speed of change was significantly less. In today s business environment, it is much more obvious. In traditional project management we are asking the customer to define requirements early in the process, assuming the right people are in place and have the ability to foresee what the business will look like in the future. Nowadays, alongside with the development of information, communication, and technology the status of English becomes a lingua franca in the world. That is, a language that is used as a means of communication between people with different language. This change, of course, brings some impacts in the roles of English as a language. English is not seen as a language for identity anymore. Yet, it functions mainly as a means of communication. Added to this, the change of the English status as a lingua francawill also impact to the educational sector especially in English Language Teaching (ELT). • 27. When The Wolves Came In The Gettin Analysis Constant separation and tension between blacks and whites is at the forefront of Kyle Abraham s When the Wolves Came In. Performed first in 2015, the piece consists of three narratives including When the Wolves Came In, Hallowed, and The Gettin . This reflection and interpretation will be solely based on the third installment of the piece. The Gettin brings racial issues into view through the different interactions between each performer and through dancer and background projection relations. The relationship and mood between each performer depending on the others race is extremely prevalent throughout The Gettin . For many portions of the choreography, specifically, when the stage is made up of only African Americans the mood is much more positive and happy. • 28. Compare And Contrast Hemingway And Faulkner s Writing Style Ernest Hemingway and William Faulkner were two of the most influential writers of the twentieth century. While they lived during the same period, their writing styles differed drastically. This can be seen in texts such as Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants and A Clean, Well Lighted Place, and Faulkner s Barn Burning . Hemingway s style puts little focus on specific characterdetails, which makes his stories seem like they could be about any person, including the reader, while Faulkner s style puts a lot of focus on specific character details, which makes every detail and every character seem important to the reader. Both authors have styles indirect to their points, which forces the readers to figure out information on their own and leaves the purposes of texts more open to interpretation. The writing styles of Hemingway and Faulkner differ in numerous ways, the most prominent of which being their narrative focus. With Hemingway writing short, simple sentences, there was little discussion of the specific traits of each of characters in his stories. In both Hills Like White Elephants and A Clean, Well Lighted Place, the main characters are almost all unnamed. They lack specific ages, races, or nationalities. The only details included about the characters are those that are directly involved with the plot, such as in A Clean, Well Lighted Place, where the waiters are labeled as being young and old . By not having any certain traits tied to the main characters, Hemingway allows for those characters to be anyone. When the reader reads about a situation happening to a person, they have an easier time empathizing with them because the character can be more like them. This also allows for characters to represent concepts the reader can understand, either by living them out on a daily basis or seeing them lived out through other people. Unlike Hemingway s few details about characters, Faulkner goes into depth about all the characters in his stories, including his short story Barn Burning . At one point, the main character said this when describing his father, There was something about his wolflike independence and even courage when the advantage was at least neutral which impressed strangers, as ... Disruption Of Gender Roles In Macbeth In Shakespeare s play, Macbeth, Lady Macbeth s portrayal begins with the dominant elements of her ambitious and successful plotting of Duncan s demise from the throne and the effective rhetorical manipulation of her husband to be more like a man. The amount of films dedicated to different wars seems endless, with ever way having at least two different view there is always more options to create a movie on the same war only putting different spin on it. The movie that I have chosen that represents a part of the 1960 s is Full Metal Jacket produced by Stanley Kubrick. The movie is centered around one individual, Joker, who starts off in marine corps boot camp and then eventually is sent to Vietnam. Full Metal Jacket showcases a seemingly accurate view of how soldiers viewed the war, and what they go through. The movie is separated into two parts, boot camp and then working in Vietnam. Full Metal Jacket is based on an adaption of the book The Short Timers by Gustav Hasford which is a semi autobiographical novel. Only a portion of the 60 s was captured in Full Metal Jacket, however, it gives great insight on soldiers view on the war. The first half of the movie is depicting the abuse and struggles of marine corps boot camp. The movie beings with drill sergeant Hartman belittling all the individuals who came into boot camp, he calls them worthless and degrades them. The harshness of Hartman may seem over exaggerated, however, from growing up with a father in the military and hearing stories of his days in boot camp, I know that Hartman s attitude was only slightly exaggerated. • 36. Comparison of the Characters Cyrano and Christian in... From the play Cyrano de Bergerac, two of the main characters are at odds fighting to win the heart of the same girl. Cyrano and Christian play as competing romantic heroes in their story, both hopeless dreamers of love and lust, both bold in their own aspects as well as incredibly insecure all at once. They also share the quality of great loyalty, and willingness to drop anything to come to the rescue of a friend. Physically, they are opposites; Christian is beautiful, and Cyrano thinks himself an atrocity. Their intellectual capabilities are also at completely different ends of the spectrum; Christian is a bumbling fool, and Cyrano can become a master at whatever task he chooses. In the aspect of poetry and the art of words, Cyrano is a true Shakespeare, and Christian is the equivalent of a second grader at best. These characters seem to be foils and, at the same time, they are wildly alike. One characteristic that they most obviously share is their quality of being complete and hopeless romantics. The novella is based on mutinies and the unfair treatment that individuals face when working at sea. Herman Melville is able to portray a well developed novella through his extensive research and knowledge about mutinies, his interesting background, and his ability to relate characters from his own life to the story. The Mutiny Act is a bill brought out by the government, in order to outlaw the rebelling against people of authority. Although mutinies are banned by law, there have been a few instances where individuals still decide to revolt against officers that are in charge. The Nore Mutiny of May 1797 is one of the grandest rebellions that has ever occurred in England. The Nore mutiny takes place a month after the successful uprising of Spithead anchorage near Portsmouth (Awcock On this Day: The Nore Mutiny, 12th May 1797). In Spithead, all demands; for increased wages, better working conditions, and a decrease in work hours have been met. The successful demands made the individuals at Nore want to retain the same working conditions as the people at Spithead. The Nore Mutiny occurred during the time when Great Britain was at war with France, therefore, due to the economic restraints that the war had caused, the government could not give the people at Nore the demands that they desperately sought for (Awcock On this Day: The Nore Mutiny, 12th May 1797). In 1768, when he was fourteen years old, he was sent to Yale College with his brother, Enoch. Nathan was a classmate of a patriot spy. His name was Benjamin Tallmadge. Nathan graduated with first class honors at the age of 18 and became a teacher. He was the first in East Haddam and later in New London. After the Revolutionary War began, he joined a Connecticut militia and was elected first lieutenant. It has been suggested that he was unsure as to whether he wanted to fight, or whether he was hindered because his teaching contract in New London did not expire until several months later, in July 1775. On July 4, 1775, Hale received a letter from his classmate and friend, who had gone to Boston to see the siege for himself. He wrote to Hale, Was I in your condition, I think the more extensive service would be my choice. Now Erdahl resides in Princeton, New Jersey were he is an Artist‐in‐resident at the Arts Council of Princeton. Thaddeus Erdahl is interested in people and they re stories. By the use of ceramics and his glazing technics he is able to show others the different layers of an identity. By layering textures such as hole patterns, cracking glaze, dripping glaze, his work takes on a whole new form. In his artist statement he says, Ceramic sculpture and portraiture, in particular, are forms of a visual narration that I use to satisfy my urge for documenting what I see in human nature. • 47. Apostle Peter And The Last Supper In Gabriel Sabloff s Apostle Peter and The Last Supper, Sobloff portrays a faithful and powerful biblical story of dedication, forgiveness, prayer and a message that anything is possible if we have God in our hearts. This film, stars Robert Loggia, Bruce Marchiano, and Laurence Fuller. This story is set in Rome in 670 A.D, when Christians were being persecuted for their faith. The Apostle Peter relives the time he spent with Jesus, from the inspirational Last Supper to the Garden of Gethsemane. This movie is not only about Jesus, but it also describes the personalities of the apostles themselves. In the movie, Apostle Peter has been imprisoned for his believes, he is sentenced to die by crucifixion. The emperor has announced that followers of Christ should be hunted and persecuted for their beliefs. While in jail Peter tells the story of Jesus to a young guard named Martinian (Laurence Fuller) who is more interested in learning about Jesus than he lets on. Though Martinian risks everything by fraternizing with the Christian prisoner he pressures Peter to tell him of Jesus, His Message, and his journey with Jesus. One of the differences between the movie and the Bible is the fact that only the 12 disciples were present in Jesus Sermon on the Mount when the Bible describes the scene as being crowds gathering, Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them. (Matt 5:1). Apostle Peter and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Short Note On Cutting My Hair I stood there with the dull, black, kitchen scissors in my hand opening and closing them in thoughtful anticipation. This was it. This was the moment I decided to be recklessly happy. I had wanted a haircut for a long time and now I was going to get what I wanted regardless of the consequences. On November 15, 2015, I decided to cut all of my hair off which gave me the courage to be myself whilst handling the consequences, and through it all I learned that my happinesswas more important than making others happy. The decision to cut my hair was not a quick one, I deliberated on what to do for years. I first got the idea to cut my hair four years ago when I was twelve. I did not mean a trim or even a few inches off. I wanted a pixie cut. This was a shock to my parents because I had always had long hair. The most I had ever cut was an inch or two. They were horrified when I cheerfully presented them with a picture of the haircut I wanted. My parents had a stunned looks on their faces, and in unison they said No . I, for the life of me, could not figure out why they reacted so badly. I began to develop a plan. I would begin the process of cutting my hair by giving myself bangs. A few weeks passed and then I did it. I grabbed a slightly dulled pair of scissors, parted my hair from left to right near the front of my face, wrapped a hair tie around it and braced myself. I took a deep breath and placed the scissors right above the tie and cut it off. Six inches of hair fell into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As well as Australian men getting more involved in sports, migrants from European countries started arriving in Australia, they also brought with them an interest in sports and in particular soccer. As the growing popularity of soccer was introduced it increased interest in more cultures to build clubs originating from their own country impacting on Australia s multicultural upbringing. This has left a positive impact on Australia as a nation because of the way our lifestyle has changed in the ways of pop culture as we are now a country which is connected to others throughout the world. The increase in growth of popularity in sports throughout the years has lead to an increase of Australian viewers of sports making our national identity stronger in the terms of being a sports mad country. Many clubs throughout Australia have been built by migrants from across the globe which helped build our culture of sports and a multicultural society therefore leaving a positive impact on the Australian people. The negative impacts that the increase of popular culture had on sports was it drew it big television companies to pay large sums of money to sponsor certain players, teams or competition leaving some of the many role models of the sporting industry to let down there fans. Television is also have left negative impact on sports as it allowed the companies to dictate when the games would be played to allow maximum audience. Many people would argue that this is a bad decision because the times may not be best suited to play that type of game and could injure the players because it could be too hot or too cold at the time. Another negative impact of television is it lead to Australians becoming increasing unfit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
