1. Essay On Unemployment
Writing an essay on the topic of unemployment can be both challenging and thought-provoking.
The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of the subject, as unemployment
encompasses various economic, social, and political dimensions. Crafting a compelling essay
requires a deep understanding of the underlying causes, consequences, and potential solutions
related to unemployment.
To begin with, researching the topic demands a thorough exploration of statistical data, economic
theories, and sociological perspectives. Unemployment is influenced by a myriad of factors, such
as technological advancements, globalization, government policies, and societal changes. Delving
into these aspects requires careful analysis and the ability to synthesize information from diverse
sources.
Structuring the essay poses another set of challenges. Balancing the introduction, body, and
conclusion while maintaining a coherent flow of ideas is crucial. Addressing the root causes and
presenting a nuanced argument may require extensive brainstorming and revision. Additionally,
weaving in relevant examples and real-life case studies to support key points can enhance the
essay's credibility and impact.
Moreover, the sensitivity of the topic necessitates a thoughtful approach. Unemployment has far-
reaching consequences on individuals, families, and communities. Discussing these repercussions
requires empathy and a keen awareness of the human aspect behind the statistics. Striking the
right tone to convey the severity of the issue without sounding overly pessimistic is a delicate
balancing act.
In conclusion, composing an essay on unemployment is a challenging task that demands a
comprehensive understanding of economic principles, sociological dynamics, and human
experiences. Navigating through the intricate web of causes and effects requires diligence,
critical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. Despite the
difficulties, addressing this significant societal issue through a well-crafted essay can contribute
to a better understanding of unemployment and potential avenues for change.

2. Descriptive Essay About Microcosm
Humanity delights in escaping reality even if only for a short time. Some choose to
play sports, some watch tv, and others still choose to spend their time reading.
Withdrawal from reality links all hobbies together. Likewise, I like to achieve this
liberation by sailing. Imagine the wind gusting across your body, the smell of the
strong scent of water in your nostrils, and the thrill of the windthrusting your boat
along. I was astounded when I discovered this microcosm twenty minutes away in the
middle of the scorching desert.
Immediately upon exiting the car, I am greeted by the familiar telltale smell of the
lake. It is a combination of a fishy and algae scent that isn t overly pleasant,
nevertheless, it doesn t detract from the experience. On nice windy days, I felt the
wind blow through my hair and saw the telltale whitecaps forming on the water s
surface. On sunny days I saw the afternoon sun make the greenish brown water
glimmer majestically and reflect off of the glass in the high rise buildings. I walked
to the gated boatyard adjacent to the parking lot to retrieve my boat.
I walked just beyond the middle of the yard to the section where the boats for my
class were stored. I picked one that appeared to be in good shape and pushed it out
of the yard towards the lake. If I had luck on my side a friend would also help me
with this, nonetheless, it is an easy job on the way out of the yard because the exit
is sloped slightly down hill. After I removed the boat from the boatyard, The
instructor would either tell me to help someone transport another boat out of the
boatyard After all the boats were out and ready to be rigged, the instructor would
tell the other students and me to start rigging the boats. Normally, I take about ten
minutes to rig a boat myself and five with help from a friend. It is a pretty simple
process and involves checking the boat for any damage, making sure the drain plug
is screwed in tight, and hoisting the sails halfway up. Next, the instructor launches
the boats with his truck and I rushed to the boat to prepare it to sail. I would lower the
keel and rudder, raise the sails to the top of the mast. At last, I was sailing.
When I first set the sail and feel the wind just start
3. Youtube Case Analysis
Fun, creative, motivational, and humorous, private and homemade videos were
where YouTube really shined during the previous decade. Anyone with a computer,
camera, and video editing software had an outlet to show their creative works for fun
or presentation, with little restriction besides time and data limits, or certain language
and content, to keep the creative environment friendly and legal. The addition of
advertisement came along with channels becoming more and more popular, acquiring
large followings, yet did not present any more restrictions to the video sharing site.
However, in the recent years, this past decade, YouTubehas began to partner with

4. Lazy is the American Essay
Lazy is the American
Today s American society consists of many technological achievements. The cars
we drive, the classes we take, and even the things we do in our spare time has
changed due to the increasing amount of technology that is available to us.
Technology is a wonderful thing to behold, but then we can look at the one thing
technology has done to humans and especially Americans. Technology has created a
society of many lazy people. In order to support my argument, I believe that it is
imperative to answer one question in great detail. How has technology made us lazy?

because it was fun and it was something to do. I didn t play outside because I

am one of the first ones to accept the offer. It was a part of my childhood unlike
many kids today. Now the kids are asking each other when they are going to be on
MSN or AOL. Are they to lazy to talk to each other while enjoying the outdoors?
They might as well enjoy it now because in 50 years breathing might be difficult and
playing or even walking around outside might be a struggle.
Enough child bashing, adults are living life on the lazy side as well. First, look
what computer have done and are continuing to do today. Computers are
developing so quickly that when you buy one it s nearly out dated by the time you
get it up and running. Computer are being manufactured so quickly that it is nearly
impossible to say you re a computer is new. People seem like they would not be able
to survive without computers. I remember washing the dishes by hand as a chore.
The kids don t do that any more and neither do the parents. All it takes is 5 minutes to
throw the dishes into the dishwasher, press the button, use 6 times the water to wash
them this way instead of by hand, and then they are clean. Thank you computerized

Guilt can be all consuming. It can slowly creep into a person s life and leave them
emotionally crippled towards others, and even towards themselves. In the film

Introduction
The framing techniques that media utilizes can be telling of the source of the
reporting and can also be beneficial in discerning public opinion on domestic and
foreign affairs. What the media reports on as well as how they present their reports
are often consistent with their host countries interests, but it is my belief that
differences occur when reporting on similar issues in foreign countries. The goal of
this research is to discover how media frame stories differently with respect to
geography, and to unearth possible patterns and themes in framing while exposing
and explaining any anomalies. This leads to the main question of how do media
outlets adjust their framing when reporting on domestic versus international protests?
In short, what role does proximity play in framing strategies? Protests are a type of
political discourse and demonstration that are not unique to any region or country,
even though their subject matter may be. In the following study, I will analyze
existing research to focus on protests and movements such as the Occupy movement,
Gezi protests, Arab Spring,

8. North Korea s Moranbong Band, My Heart
Performed by North Korea s Moranbong Band, My Heart is a song of contrast.
Contrast between complex and straightforward, and bright and dark, both in the
instrumentation and lyrical content. It is inside of these contrasts that the listener can
begin to understand the song s political message.
Beginning with sudden, energetic burst of violins, piano, electric guitar, electric bass,
and a drum kit, the song s intro is heavily syncopated and rhythmically varied. After
a short call and response section between the piano and rest of the band, every
instrument in unison performs a rising, 8th note riff that connects to the verse. It is
here when the vocals come in where the intro s powerful energy slides into a less
driving, more mellow mood. The intro grabs the listener s attention, but once the
lyrics come in the music slides back to allow the singer to be dominant.
Rhythmical, the core of My Heart lies in the 4/4 time signature with emphasis on the
backbeat. While the bass sticks to hitting quarter notes with the drums, guitar and
piano provide syncopation in the verses by playing on the offbeats. Together with a
tempo that comfortably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the lyrics do not shy away from displaying the political message outright, the
music also carries this message. By utilizing contrasting elements, such as the march
like beat with sudden, syncopated moments, and the bright instrumentation with dark
harmonics, My Heart could be interpreted as a battle between opposing forces, and
calling on the North Korean citizens to stand up and back their country in order to
win any upcoming conflicts. The song feels like a march, further elevating its
political, militaristic message. The lyrics talk about giving everything to the country,
and the dark chords and rich backing vocals give these lyrics a dramatic weight that
could help persuade listeners to follow the narrator s example of

room with very little and yellow wallpaper. This proved to not be very beneficial
as the wife became worse. The wife was also a writer and so john took the ability
for to write. This also, affected the wife because she was not able to communicate
her thoughts and feelings. SHe would use writing as a way to do that and when
took that away from it felt the wife had lost a piece of herself. John is an example
of the stereotype in the 1950s where women were expected to whatever the
husband said and keep quiet about it. The wife still finds to keep writing even after
John took her journal away. She hides a journal from John so she can still because

16. The Downfall Of Habits In William Shakespeare s Macbeth
Macbeth , one of William Shakespeare s many famous plays, and the story that it
follows is one that is quite unfortunate. The protagonist, Macbeth, is a thane in
Scotland who after a battle meets three witches who grant him three prophecies, one
is of the title that he already held, another is of a position he would receive moments
later, and the last most lofty one is that Macbethshall become king. The first two
predictions create credibility for the third, and with this third prediction made it
would seem that Macbeth has been stripped of any decision and is forced to assert
himself as king through murder. The third prediction in particular creates the
greatest evidence that Macbeth is acting on the witches prophecies because he
must, but when the situation is further inspected it becomes clear that the evil acts
he commits are of his own free will, and examples of this can be found in three
murders he either commits himself or hires murderers for: the murder of the king,
the murder of one of his friends, and the murder of a man s entire family. The first of
the heinous crimes that Macbeth commits is by far the most monumental, and that is
the murder of the king of Scotland, Duncan. From the witches first set of predictions
that Macbeth, shalt be king hereafter, (Shakespeare I.3.71 72) it would seem that
Macbeth s hands were tied and he had no choice but to kill his king, but in reality the
witches don t say this anywhere in their first predictions. In addition to

As an American taxpayer I personally agree with school choice as I studied at a
public school and understand the differences between public and private education.
Parents should be able to use these state issued debit cards to decide which type of
educational institution they want to send their child to. The counterargument to this
is that taxpayers money is going back into the private trust rather than into the public
school institution. School choice means providing this funding for low income
students who live in school zones with lower quality schools. If a family can, with
these state issued cards, send their child to private school, then they should be able to
do so as it provides a great opportunity for advancement. In this regard, school
choice is a vehicle to help improve inner cities and to provide options particularly
for low income families trapped in failing schools (Swaby). However, any person in

You will find there are a lot of similarities between all the empires/kingdoms. In
Persia they invested a lot of resources into the construction of roads and highways.
They did this to enable communications and military mobility. As trading grew
different regions began to specialize what they traded. Certain products were
expected of each area. In China the first emperor built roads to aid communication
and the movement of armies. Han Wudis actions while in the throne rapidly

states and gained control of overseas trade between India and Burma. By 260 B.C.E
Mauryan had control of former Kalinga trade routes. In Greece Spartans used iron

access to copper, zinc, tin and iron ores of Italy. Caravan trade transported luxury

large regional state in Italy that gave them access to industry. Commercial wealth

21. How Does Shakespeare Use Diction In Macbeth
In Macbeth s dagger soliloquy, Shakespeare uses diction to establish that Macbeth is
personally justifying his actions of going to commit the murder by displacing the
responsibility.
Within the soliloquy, Macbeth speaks of Murder as if he is a person. Shakespeare s
use of the word his , when referring to Murder, personifies Murder. This is Macbeths
way of saying that it is Murder itself who commits the crime, and not Macbeth. On
line 55, Shakespeare uses the word design . Design in this context is used to
represent the act of the murder. It speaks of Murder moving towards his design,
which makes killing someone sound not as awful. This shows Macbeth is justifying
his actions by saying it is an entirely different force other than himself moving ...

Subsequently, when a bell rings, Macbeth recognizes this as Lady Macbeth s
signal that it is time for him to go and murder Duncan. Line 62 reads, the bell
invites me. This again shows the personification of an inanimate object; the bell is
given the ability to invite. Instead of Macbeth placing the responsibility of calling
him forth on Lady Macbeth, he places it on the bell. He is again placing the blame
on something else, just as he did earlier when referring to Murder. Another use of
diction Shakespeare uses in that line is the word invite . The word invite has a
friendly and warm connotation to it, unlike the act of murder. The use of invite in
this context is another example of Macbeth justifying his actions. Instead of saying
the bell tells me it s time , Shakespeare says, the bell invites me , which therefore

In this experiment, we wanted to investigate which surfaces in the school had the
most bacteria, and we thought that the surfaces used more would have the most
bacteria. For this experiment we used agar plates, cotton swabs and distilled water
in order to see how much bacteria was on each surface. Cotton swabs were wet
with distilled water and then the swabbed ws wied on a 2 inch space of the surface
and twisted to cover the entire swab.once we swabbed the surface, we wiped the
swab on the plate in a zigzag motion holding it upside down. The girls bathroom sink

The Reasons for the Hostility Between Austria Hungary and Serbia During 1878 and
1914
Between 1878 and 1914, there was generally a lot of hostility in the Balkans this was
mainly due to the weakening Ottoman Empire, this allowed countries within it to start
to fight for independence and the greater powers surrounding it to try and take over
parts of it.
After the Treaty of Berlin, 1878, Austria Hungary was given the right to occupy and
administer the Ottoman province of Bosnia Herzegovina. In 1908, after growing
fears of Serbia and Russia becoming stronger, Austria Hungary annexed Bosnia
Herzegovina. This angered the Serbs because they had wanted Bosnia Herzegovina to

The results of the first Balkan War in 1912 were another cause of hostility between
the two countries. As a result of this war Serbia had gained control of the Adriatic
coastline, and had also taken over Albania. Austria Hungary resented and feared
the sudden growth of Serbia and wanted Serbia to give up both the Adriatic coast
and Albania. Russia however supported the Serbs, and he and Austria Hungary
mobilised their troops against one another. A peace treaty was drawn up and by
May 1913 the Treaty of London was signed. In this treaty Serbia lost control of the
Adriatic coast and Albania was made an independent state, however they did gain
control of central and northern Macedonia. They felt this was inadequate and
blamed Austria Hungary for their loss of land. This was a significant factor in the
hostility between the two sides as it made Austria Hungary fear Serbian growth and
angered Serbia as they felt that whenever they made gains of land in the Balkans the
Austrians would thwart it.
The results of the second Balkan war were also key factors in the hostility between
the two countries. In 1913 Serbia and Greece went to war with Bulgaria to win land
they thought they deserved after the first war. Bulgaria was defeated and in the
Treaty of Bucharest Serbia and Greece got to keep those parts of Macedonia they had
captured. The Serbs then went on to

Concern for destabilization: Instead of a more comprehensive truth commission,
Argentina initially replied to the atrocities of junta rule with only partial participation
from congress, immunity for the military, private hearings, and a relatively succinct
timeframe in which to conduct truth seeking (Hayner, 45 46). However, the
Argentine government quickly overturned the rule of military immunity, and
published Nunca Mas , Never Again , in an effort to seek punitive justice against
military leaders while also making public the findings of CONADEP. The
disappearances planned and executed by the military government were systematic in

Rather, other alternatives for accountability and acknowledgement, such as truth
commissions, exist. By remaining victim focused, truth commissions offer, the full
and complete truth as to the events that transpired, their specific circumstances, and
who participated in them, including the circumstances in which violations took place,
as well as the reasons for them (Hayner, 24). Specifically, South Africa achieved a
semblance of justice through the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which
offered amnesty to those accused of crimes committed for political purposes. One
may argue that the societal transition in Argentina was not as great that of post
Apartheid South Africa, yet the possible yield of a truth commission could have
satisfied the needs of a post junta Argentina. Particularly, a truth commission could
have provided an accurate record of the past, restored personal dignity to victims,
safeguarded against impunity, and provided recommendations for institutional

25. Million Dollar Baby Stereotypes
Appreciation rather than discrimination
The film Million Dollar Baby directed by Clint Eastwood is a prime illustration of
how to address gender stereotypes and discrimination. Gender stereotyping is the act
of biasing a male and/or female into certain categories simply based on their roles in
terms of their gender. And discrimination is the act of placing a group of people into
a category based on their race, sex, or age, which can be unjust in many ways. The
film demonstrates gender stereotyping and discrimination through the character
Frankie, who changes his perception of stereotyping women; how Eddie decides to
treat the characters who are being discriminated against.

I believe the film did a great job at coping with gender stereotypes by proving the
standard role a woman should have is wrong. At first, Frankie was reluctant in
training Maggie, simply for being a female. Therefore, automatically assuming
that she s too weak; a female that isn t naturally seen to fight. Although it s pretty
easy to see that she isn t remotely close to the image as Maggie is a boxer, she
fights for what she wants. And when Frankie didn t want to train her because of her
gender, she didn t take no for an answer. She never gave up and kept trying for
example, when Frankie said Don t call me boss, Maggie refused and continued with
until he had decided to train her. When he finally accepted, she attentively listens to
all his orders and recommendations, being committed that she would practice all the
time, even at

Introduction
The research article Consequences of Differentiated Leadership in Groups focuses on
the issues of leadership as it needs to confront groups. The theoretical assumption is
that individual and group level methods need to be applied for groups by the
leadership of an organization. The researchers in the paper argue that group level
methods lead to increased performance and output. Furthermore, there is a trend
towards cohesive and disciplined work teams. The leadership on the contrary when it
applies an individual approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
General Theoretical Framework
The study assumes that leadership and its impact upon groups have gained
considerable attention in recent research. There has been trend towards analyzing the
impact of leadership upon individuals and groups. Transformational leadership is
based upon charisma where the individual crafts a common vision for the followers
(Wu, Tsui Kinicki, 2010: Pg 90). As a consequence, the followers are motivated to
engage in collective action which can transform the core nature of the entity.
Differentiated leadership towards individuals means recognizing their strengths and
weaknesses. The leadership strives to delegate different responsibilities to the
individual. On the contrary, a group oriented approach leads to common values and
principles. The group is motivated by shared values and mutual confidence among
each other.
Research Methodology
The authors have selected workgroups belonging to diverse organizations that work
in different sectors of the economy. In addition, each worker has been selected from
different departments as a means of deriving accurate and reliable results.
Questionnaires and surveys were selected as the method for data collection (Wu, Tsui
Kinicki, 2010: Pg 95). Such methods are beneficial because they enable the
researchers to target the population sample in a cost effective manner. Furthermore, it
prevents researchers from interfering in the data collection process. Finally the
researchers interviewed the

29. Twilight Research Paper
The book Twilight is a very interesting book showing that extraordinary polarities
don t matter between two people. No one in their right mind would think that a lion
and a lamb could fall in love. Lots of people would say that this is impossible.
However, others say nothing is impossible.
In Twilight, Stephenie Meyer uses conflict to teach us that extreme differences don t
always matter between two people that are in love. For example, Edward knows
that it s dangerous for Bella and himself to be together, but still wants to be with
her. It would be more...prudent for you not to be my friend, he explained. But I m
tired of trying to stay away from you, Bella. Edward wants to be with Bella, but is
scared he will hurt her. Furthermore, Edward tries to tell Bella that she shouldn t be
around him, but neither of them care. Edward is willing to hurt himself in order to
protect Bella; Edward proves this by saying to Bella ... if leaving is the right thing
to do, then I ll hurt myself to keep from hurting you, to keep you safe. Bella and
Edward want to be together, but it s dangerous. Edward decides that he would leave

The purpose of this assignment is to explore the Proposition that Different
Personalities contribute to Effective Teams . Learning styles is defined as the
process that learners use to sort and process information (Cano, Garton Raven, 1992).
Eysenck (1978) who developed the personality theories of Extraversion (E),
Neuroticism (N) and Psychoticism (P), noted that personality and learningare closely
related. Furthermore it was also found that there is a large overlap between
personality and learning styles(Jackson Lawty Jones, 1996) and Duff, Boyle,
Dunleavy and Ferguson (2004) state that an individuals learning orientation and
approach to learning, is partially determined by their personality. There is a lot of
research (Duff Duffy, 2002; Lhori Posey, 2003; Coffield et al., 2004; Reynold
Vince, 2007; Welsh et al., 2007; Hornyak et al., 2007; Herbert Stenfors, 2007;
Sievers, 2007; Hyde, 2007; Kayes, 2007; Garcia et al., 2007; Demirbas Demirkan,
2007; Armstrong Mahmud, 2008; Li et al., 2008) that shows people have a
dominant learning style but can also have a mixture of others. In this assignment I
will provide evidence off different theories which support learning styles and
investigate different learning models such as Kolbs (1984) and Honey and
Mumford (1986). Different personalities can depict suitable team roles but in order
to decide if these contribute to effective teams I will examine team theories such as

studies on student testing, including the use of large scale and high stakes

year analysis of testing research by Richard P. Pelps. Another reason is most students
get plenty of time to prepare for the testwith test prep, also if you fail the first time
you can pay to retake and with a little more studying can easily raise your test grade.
Final reason most people believe it provides an accurate measurement of a student s
performance and a teacher s effectiveness. Standardized Tests
33. 8th Amendment History
One of the many things that has been highly controversial and still is to this very
day is how to properly punish and treat criminals. Here in America we now have
the Eighth Amendment to protect us from cruel and unusual punishment. This
was based off of a Parliament Act of 1689 that created England s Bill of Rights.
Before England had come up with the idea that humans should have guaranteed
basic rights, it wasn t a matter of whether or not a criminal would die, as much as it
was a matter of how they would die. Torture devices such as the guillotine, the
stake, the brazen bull, and the rack were used to spread the idea of fear and
punishment that was ineffectually used by leaders to try and control their people
throughout the history of Europe. Ironically, the guillotine was considered to be the
more humane of the torture devices. This is why it is so well known and was used
very often throughout history. The guillotine was a device used to execute its victim
by beheading them. It is made with a tall wooden structure that supports a slanted
and sharp blade at the top that was suspended by a rope. Located at... Show more

The brazen bull is an excellent example. Also known as the bronze bull or Sicilian
bull, this device was another method of killing with fire. It was made of a solid
piece of metal and had a door that was used to place and lock the victim inside. This
bull shaped metal deathtrap was then placed over a fire that slowly baked the person
inside while they screamed and cried until they no longer could. The bull was
purposely designed to amplify these screams and make them sound like the bellowing
of a bull. (Pegg, list25.com) The brazen bull, created additional amusement for the
audience, and served the added benefit of distancing them from the brutality of the
torture, since they couldn t directly see the victim, (Grabianowski,

Daughter of the Forest is a book that would be devoured by most people who read

Sorcha was not able to speak on her task, there were paragraphs upon paragraphs of
only her thoughts. These thoughts varied from each of her brothers, to her father, to
her damaged hands and how much they meant to her, and to the destruction of her
innocence. This description really allowed the readers to feel Sorcha s pain

Sorcha s loneliness throughout the book to really get to the reader. If this was the

danced, fought, and resolved their problems. The bond that these seven siblings
had was beyond beautiful, and having that being taken away in the story was like
throwing Sorcha s heart away, and my own too. This was one of the aspects of the
book I kept thinking about for days. Also, with the heavy description in the book, I
was very deep into the setting of Sorcha and her people. It was as if the story was
real as I was reading, even though the genre for the book is fantasy. I adore books
that really take the reader into the setting like this and recommend Daughter of the

individuals have trouble in social situations whether that is making friends or just
talking one on one with a family member. There are many characteristics that
describe an individual as having Asperger s syndrome. Most of these characteristics
were displayed throughout the film through the character Mickey Tussler. In this
paper, I will discuss the signs and symptoms of Asperger s syndrome through the
eyes of Mickey, a professional minor league baseball player as well as how he was
treated by his parents, coach and teammates. I will lastly reflect on how I felt
about A Mile in His Shoes regarding their portrayal of Asperger s syndrome. Mickey

Domenico di Michelino: Dante s Divine Comedy Painting
Introduction:
Domenico di Michelino (1417 1491), an Italian painter and medieval poet was known
best for his epic poem, The Divine Comedy, which includes sections representing the
three tiers of the Christian afterlife: Purgatory (Purgatorio), Hell (Inferno), and
Paradise (Paradiso). This poem was a great work of medieval literature and was
considered the greatest work of literature composed in Italian. The Divine Comedy
was a Christian vision of mankind s eternal fate. When The Divine Comedy was
written, Dante made a cathedral painting that represents his poem called Dante and
His Poem. In the painting, the Dante shows the 3 tiers related to the Christian
afterlife. Dante was standing in a red robed colossus, revealing his poem to the city
of Florence. The painting was full of great meaning, inspiring so many artists from
Rodin to Robert Rauschenberg.
Biographical Details: Dante was born in Florence, Italy to Alaghiero and Bella. His
mom died before Dante turned 10 years old, and he soon had a new stepmother and
two new siblings. He once lived in Bologna for a couple of years until his exiles were
banished then he moved to Padua. He took his name from his teacher, a carver in
bone and ivory named Michelino. He was elected to the Compagnia di San Luca
(painter s guild) in 1442 and joined the Arte dei Medici e degli Speziali in 1444.

41. Essay about Italian and Northern European Renaissance
Italian and Northern European Renaissance
The Italian and Northern Europe Renaissances were both an important mark in
history by changing the ideals of life, thought, culture, and art of the people s of this
time. In this paper I will explain the motive for change in these cultures, including the
similarities and differences of the two cultures. The Italian and Northern European
Renaissance was the marking point for leaving behind the old ways and moving into
the more classical ideals and civilizations for Italy and Northern Europe. However,
Northern Europe developed their ideals more slowly then Italy did. For one thing,
the north held on to Gothic (or Middle Ages ) art and architecture with a tighter,

The classical aspects were used to humanize the Christian and secular buildings. The
High Renaissance in Italy, although short lived, was extremely important on the
influences of future Italian art. During the High Renaissance the main focus on
Florence, for the arts, shifted to Rome due to the power and wealth from the popes.
Because of the move from Florence to Rome, the two most important factors of this
time, Classicism and Christianity, were merged into one. Italian ideas were also
brought northward through trade and commerce into Europe, where they had a
tremendous amount of influence on the artistic traditions there as well (Benton amp;
DiYanni, 2008). Both the Italian and Northern European Renaissance had interest in
changing their ideals in individualism, humanism, and classicism, which has a large
impact on their cultures, and arts. Many of the literary works of this time expressed
the same interests between Italy and Northern Europe. Examples can be seen in the
writings of Petrarch (Italian) and Michel de Montaigne (Northern European). Both of
these writers expressed the importance and idealism of humanism. The literature
during this time was a wonderful looking glass into the similarities and differences of
Italy and Northern Europe. After looking at the Italian and Northern Europe
Renaissances, one can see the many similarities between the arts and cultures, but the
differences of these cultures are not
42. Adhd In Early Childhood
Everyone can experience difficulty sitting still, being attentive or controlling
impulsive behavior on occasion. However, some people experience problems so
pervasive and persistent that every aspect of their life (including home, academic,
social and work) is affected. Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a
common behavioral condition affecting 11 percent of school age children (Visser, et.
al., 2014). For instance, in some cases the symptoms continue into adulthood (Brown,
2013). In early adulthood, ADHD can be associated with depression, mood swings or
conduct disorders, and abuse of narcotics. Adults with ADHD often cope with
difficulties in their professional and personal lives related to ADHD symptoms
(CHADD, 2016).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, each family must weigh the pros and cons of taking medication.
Medications may carry the risk of side effects. Physicians need to monitor their
patients who take medication for potential side effects, such as mood swings,
hypertension, depression and effects on growth. Approximately 70 to 80 percent of
children with ADHD respond positively to psychostimulants medications (MTA
1999). Significant academic improvement is shown by students who take these
medications: increases in attention and concentration, compliance and effort on the
task, as well as amount and accuracy of schoolwork, plus decreased activity levels,
impulsivity, negative behaviors and social interactions and physical and verbal
hostility. These improvements show up clearly in the short term, however, long term
effectiveness is still being studied by researchers (Hinshaw, et al., 2015). A non
stimulant medication atomoxetine appears to have similar effects as the stimulants.
Antidepressants, antihypertensive and other medications may decrease impulsivity,
hyperactivity, and

44. Essay about Syndexa and Technology Transfer at Harvard
1. Towards the end of his medical training in the early 1980s, Gokhan Hotamisligil
was working on a unique tumor case on a patient and found they were comprised
primarily of fat cells. The fatty tumors were due to a rare condition, Proteus
Syndrome. Working in the field of metabolic regulation Hotamisligil began to
explore the underlying pathways for insulin resistance. In his dissertation he
discovered that the fat tissue of obese animals and humans were capable of
producing inflammatory mediators. His research helped shape the current view of
fat tissue as a discrete, active organ in its own right, continuously exchanging
messages with the rest of the body by way of the bloodstream. By early 2002

To balance these competing interests, Harvard agreed to receive an equity stake in
the company, and Syndexa would pay Harvard a small up front fee to license the
patents that Hotamisligil had developed. For Syndexa one of the key parts of
negotiations was centered on the research that the start up intended to fund in
Hotamisligil s lab at Harvard. Harvard had major concerns with how the Syndexa
sponsored research will be separated from the other funds (government or foundation
funded projects) that Hotamisligil receives. Harvard cannot funnel federally funded
inventions to companies, however at the same time Syndexa was looking for
assurance that they would have first crack at intellectual property for a technology
that they funded. Another major issue extending negotiations was the conditions
under which Syndexa would make royalty payments to Harvard for products that
were not covered under Harvard patents, but discovered using Harvard technologies.
To ensure that Harvard would receive a reasonable return on the patents it was
licensing, Syndexa agreed to pay a small royalty rate if they developed a new
therapeutic cure for diabetes using its Harvard license. Both parties agreed to the
concept of an identified product , essentially a drug discovered through the use of
patents, targets and assays being licensed from Harvard. Negotiations over what
constituted an identified product continued through the rest
45. Introducing America s New Family
Introducing America s New Family: The Bundy s American television today has
drastically changed from the first appearance of the television in the 1920s. Currently,
television is nothing but sitcoms poking jokes at the disabled, the LGBT community
adapting to the American family standard, and even late night television poking fun
at our 2016 Presidential candidates.1950s television depicted America s heterosexual,
patriarchal society in which an ideal and acceptable familyconsisted of a generous
working class father, an accommodating and good natured mother, and a few
respectful children. Whereas 1950s American television required the audience to
accept television families without question, American networks today understand
that times are changing and just like mass communication, adapting to the
millennial generation of technology is a must for television families to appeal to
the growing masses. But when did television families first start to step away from
the cultural ideals of its time? From the 1920s through the 1960s television upheld
the Father Knows Best standard of television with shows such as Father Knows Best
and I Love Lucy. Well, fast forward 30 years, and in came the Bundy s. The Bundy s
were television s first dysfunctional, on screen family to undermine the idea that an
ideal family must function perfectly all the time. Married with Children reminded us

However, this project s main focus is on the Customer Relation Management (CRM)
System of T Mobile, which is QuikView.
QuikView is T Mobile s primary customer care application used by both company
customer care representatives and authorized third party T Mobile dealers to
provide various customer services. According to a report, the QuikView application
reduced the annual average call length by 8 to 10 seconds when compared to its
predecessors. It completely eliminated more than 16,000 calls from third party
vendors per month by allowing them to complete more operations without customer
care assistance. T Mobile executives estimate the app paid for itself through these
savings in less than 2 years (Baggett, 2015).
Universal Mind designed and developed QuikView to help representatives access
customers account information more efficiently, answer their questions, and sell the
right products and services as per their needs. It was designed to unite customer,
product, and service information from T Mobile s legacy applications in onscreen.

There was no Renaissance in England during the 1300 s to the 1500 s. England at
this time was more rural and lacked the artistic or classical resurgence that is
Renaissance is often defined by. Most of its economy was based in agriculture or
the textile industries and had a notable economic growth spurt due to the massive
loss in population from the plague. The plague and its effects contradict the basic
rebirth idea of the Renaissance by being the literal opposite of a rebirth and having
the economic growth start from a massive death toll. England was mainly rural
during this period, with only a few pockets of urbanization in the Southern parts of
the country. Since there was a lot of countryside, agriculture was the most popular

The price of goods went down and the standard of living went up. Since agriculture
was the biggest occupation, it affected a large portion of the English population.
However, this economic growth came at the price of large masses of people
dying. Clearly an age which relies for its prosperity upon large numbers of its
members dying at an early age, and suffering the frequent loss of spouses, children,
relatives, friends and colleagues is somewhat less than golden, (Aberth, 70). Even
the economic prosperity came from the opposite of what the Renaissance implies
because the catalyst was death instead of rebirth . England did not have a
Renaissance or a rebirth during the 1300 s to the 1500 s. Instead, England was fairly
typical with having most of its population in rural areas and being rooted in
agriculture and textiles. Even for those not in the agriculture and textile industries,
other aspects associated with the Renaissance, such as the resurgence of classical
education, hardly touched the English. They also suffered a major loss in their
population because of the plague, which helped to caused economic growth but only
due to immense

Theory of the Four Yugas Lasting four million three hundred twenty thousand years,
are four ages known as Yugas. The ancients understood time as a circle, not linear.
Each age has distinct themes and spiritual lessons. According to the Hinduism
scriptures, all mortal beings are destined to pass through four great epochs in every
cycle of creation and destruction. The world has already been through the first three
and is currently passing through the fourth Yuga. It is believed that the world will end
in a great conflagration after the last Yuga. To some, this appears too unrealistic to be
true for the rational mind, so many may wonder: What defines each age? When and ...

The people had all fallen prey to delusion and all pious acts had been swallowed by
greed.
Scientists have predicted that by the end of this Yuga people will hardly be older
than twenty years and their only food will be meat. It s depressing to say that our
society s actions are progressively getting worse as we continue to live during each
age. It s freighting to think of what is going to happen in the future.
According to Hinduism.stackexchange.com, one cycle of all four Yugas is called a
Maha Yuga, and one thousand Maha Yugas make up one Kalpa. A Kalpa constitutes
just one day of Brahma, the creator god. After the day is over, Brahma goes to sleep,
and then the night of Brahma commences. This night is the time period when the
physical universe, along heavens and hells are destroyed by fire emanating from the
mouth of Vishnu s serpent Adiseshan. Adiseshan is said to hold all the planets of the
universe on his hoods and to constantly sing the glories of the God Vishnu from all
his mouths. It is believe that after the disaster that Lord Brahma would recreate the
universe and mankind will live once again.

Environmental narratives can diverge based on the perspectives from which they
are formed, and this can affect the appreciation of a regions ecological complexity.
Whether examined from a global or spherical perspective, obtaining an understanding
of the world requires careful consideration when undergoing interpretation to prevent
a loss of its complexity. Both global and spherical perspectives of the world limit the
perception of ecology when applied individually. However, when combined, both
perspectives provide a comprehensive view of the world about us (Ingold). In this
paper, a detailed analysis of the influence of environmental characterization on
competing narratives is explored to asses the impact of the hydrocarbon development
industry on the ecology of Greenland and the traditional Inuitway of life.
According to Tim Ingold s Globes and Spheres: the topology of environmentalism ,
humans can perceive the world around them from two different perspectives, globes
or spheres. The globes perspective is introduced through Western schooling and
signals the culmination of a process of separation (5). The global perspective requires
abstract models such as maps which foster the notion of human detachment;
providing an image of the world where humans live on its surface rather than within.
These abstract models display a world which consists of pure substance, physical
matter, presenting an opaque and impenetrable surface of literal reality upon which
form and meaning
50. Opposition Between Art And Reality In The Tempest
Opposition between Art and Reality in The Tempest
The Tempest is a self reflexive play that explores the boundaries of art and reality.
Shakespeare s island is a realm controlled by the artist figure; where the fabulous,
the ideal and the imaginative are presented as both illusory and palpable, and where
the audience is held in an indeterminate state, a strange repose . The juxtaposition of
the world of art with political and social realities explored by representative
characters is the central contrast of the play, and is foregrounded by the use of non
verbal techniques. These techniques allow the audience to appreciate the art that
facilitates the spectacle they watch, as well as understand that the ideal remains an ...

Additionally, Stephano, Trincullo and even Calibanhave their own political plot to
murder Prospero. These subplots of usurpation are presented in a mimetic style and
their sheer number has the effect of giving The Tempestits characteristic density and
brevity. Brought about by Prospero s art, the storm is the first non verbal technique to
which the audience is exposed; giving us the opportunity to understand the way in
which the characters of the play are archetypes who are representative of their society.
The initial reactions of the characters when arriving on the island are important
representations of the ideologies they have carried with them from their society.
Ferdinand scarcely notices his surroundings, absorbed instead by the sight of
Miranda. Antonio is morose and cynical, remarking that it is as if the island twere
perfumed by a fen and has everything save means to live . The most interesting
reaction is from Gonzalo, whose comic vision of an impractical but ideal
commonwealth t excel the Golden Age is the first utopian dream in the play, with
clear similarities to Thomas More s utopia. His view of the island setting as idyllic
and full of promise is given credibility by madrigals, short lyrics dealing with aspects
of pastoral life, which present images of pastoral beauty. The most famous madrigal,

51. My Dragon In Beowulf
As humans, we all possess great qualities. We develop memories that we can
cherish forever. Hopes and dreams help us strive to do great things. However, we all
have our demons that we all tend to conceal. The famous poem Beowulf is renowned
for the battles against Beowulf and many monsters. The battles in the poem pose as
metaphorical battles. Beowulf defeating the monsters represent him trying to
overcome his demons. The last battle was between him and a dragon. To the reader s
surprise, he lost the battle. The dragonrepresents Beowulf s greatest demon. Despite
the dragons that Beowulf faced that are external, my dragons are more internal.
One of the most hellish dragons that I possess is my anxiety. My anxiety has got
the best of me most of the time when I was younger. It would be difficult for me to
go out with other people. I often found myself isolating myself from the rest of the
world. In the poem, Beowulf , Grendel often hides in his dwelling. A powerful
monster, living down in the darkness, growled in pain, impatient as day after day
(ln 80). Having excessive anxiety has developed into my second dragon which is
appearence. My appearance is the most staggering dragon that I have is because it
is a dragon I know I can never defeat. This dragon was mostly fueled by words that
still haunt me to this day. Being hairy is a big nuisance. People would always make
comments about my leg and facial hair. Being a senior that is five feet and three

Intrusions Leading to Decays
Often, if what we are accustomed to is disturbed, we tend to develop a defence
mechanism that leads to either the destruction of our surroundings or new concepts in
ways to make the situation better. In Michael Moss s The Extraordinary Science of
Addictive Junk Food, he reports on the growing obesity epidemic in the United
States as a result of food manufacturers conscious effort... to get people hooked on
foods that are convenient and inexpensive (Moss 262). Whereas, in An Elephant
Crackup?, by Charles Siebert, we assimilate the fact that elephant behavior is entirely
congruent with what we know about humans and other mammals (Siebert 357). The
dynamics of a precipitous collapse of elephant culture or crackup described by
Charles Siebert, in An Elephant Crackup?, can be used to analyze and understand
America s relationship with processed food because elephants are observed through
an anthropomorphized lens. It can be acknowledged that the encroachment,
exploitation, and the economical and political instabilities that affect the elephants,
serve as an interrelationship with what keeps consumers under the firm hold of major
food industries.
The use of technology and scientific research has opened up a gateway in
understanding elephants destructive behavior and the role that processed foods play
in the growing obesity epidemic. Scientists performed an MRI scan on an elephant
brain
53. Common Crimes In Ancient Rome
What were the most common crimes?
ROBBERY AND MUGGINGS: The city of Rome was a busy and highly populated
area. In the city lived some very rich Roman citizens to poor Roman citizens who had
nothing and even slaves. This created a very diverse community that resulted in lots
of conflict. The main conflict in ancient Rome was poverty and wealth, because
there are rich and poor living together there will always be poor people who wish to
take what they want or need from the Rich. Because if this there was a lot of robbery
and muggings.
THEFT: This is again to do with the same rich/poor circumstances. The difference
this crime is about property. For example breaking into someone s house rather than
stealing things directly from a person. This type of ... Show more content on

The wealthy were kept under house arrest which was when you were kept in
someone s house rather than prison. The poorer people found justice harsher and
usually fatal. In the country, a villa might have two areas to keep problem slaves,
one for those shackled and one for those allowed a bit more freedom.
Actual prisons truly served as a holding place for those who were going to die.
Occasionally one might be detained to await trial, but usually those awaiting trial
were encouraged to go into exile. Those awaiting trial were called carcer or publica
vincula.
The most famous Roman prison can still be visited to this day. It is located at the
foot of the Capitoline Hill but is buried. It was Ancus Marcius, the fourth king of
Rome who sometime during 640 616 BC had constructed this dark, damp and
forbidding underground structure.

54. Jazz Music In The 1930 s
Jazz music originated from New Orleans, Louisiana in the early 1900 s. The
creation of the style came from a need for a phycological shield against the disasters
from nature and society in New Orleans at the time. Jazz was the most original form
that came from those troubles. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, call and
response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation. Jazzhas roots from West African
cultural and expressions, as well as African American traditions. Jazz started
becoming more world wide around 1910 and started introducing brass band marches,
French quadrilles, and biguine musicstyles. Later in the 1930 s dance oriented swing
bands became very prominent to the style. From there Jazz music continued to grow

55. Benefits Of The Five Star Hotel
At one time or another, we have experienced a situation where we cannot decide
whether to stay the night at a three star hotel that is five minutes away, or at a five
star hotel that is twenty minutes away. If the benefit of the five star hotel is
subjectively equal to the benefit of the shorter driving distance of the three star
hotel, how do you make the decision? A well used strategy in marketing psychology
is based on the idea that consumers need to put a relative value on options (Ariely,
2008). More often than not, consumers make comparisons between options in order
to facilitate a choice, and these comparisons form the justifications behind their
choices. A third option introduced into the mix can sway that decision one way, or
the other. This third element is called a decoy, and holds the power to subtly push the
consumer to make a particular choice.
Foundation
Huber, Payne, Puto (1982) set off to test the boundaries of the rational choice theory,
in an experiment that introduced an asymmetrically dominated alternative or decoy
into choice scenarios. They hypothesized that placement of an irrelevant third option
into the choice set, would violate the regularity element of the choice theory.
Regularity states that adding a dominated option into a choice set will have no effect
on decisions among non dominated alternatives (Luce, 1977). This third option, is
inferior to both options in the choice set, as well as asymmetrically dominated by the
target option, and
