Slums have been a problem in Delhi, India for decades. Approximately half of Delhi's 18 million residents live in slums or unauthorized colonies without proper sanitation or waste disposal. Living conditions in slums spread diseases, especially affecting children, as water is often contaminated and access to healthcare is limited. The persistence of slum issues in Delhi despite years of efforts is largely due to high levels of corruption within the Indian government.
