Essay on HRIS Requirements For Riordan Manufacturing
System Overview Several processes within Riordan s Human Resource Information System
(HRIS) have been identified as disjointed and Riordan wants to integrate those processes into the
HRIS to create a more seamless, secure and efficient system. Manual processes as well as partially
automated processes, both internal and external third party, will need to be integrated into the HRIS
system to accomplish this integration goal.
HRIS Updates Changes to information in the HRIS database are currently submitted in writing by
a Manager manually filling out special forms and sending them to headquarters where a payroll
clerk enters the data into the system. This process can be error prone as well as slow and needs to
be automated. Creating a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Lilo And Stitch Character Analysis
Lilo and Stitch Lilo s ordinary world is in Hawaii and stitch s ordinary world is that he was made
as experiment 626 13:16. Lilo and Stitch is a Disney which was aimed for kids but the author
used Campbell s technique to give a better understanding of the story not only for kids. This
justifies that hero s are not always followed by very godly like leaders. The proof of Lilo and
stitch being created based on the mono myths helped show that the Hero s journey is ambiguous.
The odyssey was an overall heroic theme with a splash of patriarchy added to show the dominance
of men. The mono myths helped create an entertaining plot of a heroic kind of story. The hero

which they are both destined to eventually meet. The transition of stitch going into two completely

an alien and does not know any better but to act like an alien. He is disobedient and breaks
everything around him. The meeting with the mentor occurs when Lilo adopts Stitch. They are
each other s mentors. When stitch gets put into an animal shelter, fate brings both Stitch and Lilo
together as she was looking for a pet to pick out. After that, Lilo and Stitch mentor each other in
ways they learn differences from each other and gain something out of it and rather it being

Unconventional Warfare Argumentative Analysis
Unconventional Warfare (UW) use as a strategic option is undersold due to a lack of
understanding. The lack of understanding cause further political constraints and leads to
interagency bickering. Military leaders need to do better at articulating the merits of UW as a
viable and strategic option. The lack of understanding UW stems from two parts. First, military
leaders lack the understanding and practical application. Second, the lack of understanding leads
to an inability to articulate the merits of UW to senior leaders. Special Operation Forces (SOF)
need to be well versed in all UW activities. SOF training focuses on combat or direct support to
guerrilla operations using the seven phases of resistance. This one dimensional understanding

The History And Development Of The Ancient Greek Theatre
Our dramas, plays and theatres today are all originally inspired by the classic Greek theatres. The
classic Greek theatres can be said as the pioneer in theatricals. As early as 700 B.C., ancient Greek
theatre was originated. There are four qualities of ancient Greek theatre which are the occasions for
its performance, competitive element, choral element and the basis of the theatre.
The earliest theatres or dramas were staged during spring to honor the god Dionysus. This festival,
City Dionysia was established by the Athenian ruler named Pisistratus. In Greek mythology,
Dionysus was known as the son of Zeus, the only god who was born by one god and one mortal
parent, Semele. He was also known as the god of wine, fertility and revelry. He was raised by
satyrs, killed, dismembered and was actually reborn. While other gods had temples for
themselves, the cult of Dionysus was hold in the wood. It was believed that he could liberate and
inspire man. It was also believed that he could endow man with divine creativity. Thus, Dionysus
was considered as a patron of arts.
As had been mentioned earlier, the festival, City Dionysia featured competition such as in music,
dance, poetry and singing and prizes were awarded to the winners each year. Actors and
playwrights presented tragedies and comedies during the three days of this festival and they ... Show

The earliest example of a circular stage occurs in theatre remains dating back to 330 B.C. Before
that period, stages probably were rectangular and the theatre itself constructed out of wood.
Other fixtures included a large platform on wheels that could be rolled in to show the aftermath

What Is Improper Use Of Force
Police officers are allowed to use force as part of their day to day duties. Officers must use their
judgment to determine when the use of force is warranted. In order for officers to make the
appropriate decision, proper training must take place. In order to perform at their best, they must
become familiarized with federal and state court cases, state law, and departmental policies
directing such actions (Lim Lee, 2015). According to Lim Lee (2015) failure to fully understand
and simply just following the regulations can lead to community resistance, loss of public
confidence in law enforcement, and legal liabilities. Improper use of force is one of the few
behaviors that reduce community confidence in policeofficers (Lim Lee, 2015).

Summary Of Oliver SacksThe Man Who Mistoook His Wife For A...
Tying Neurological Research to Readings
Jose Massana
Florida International University Tying Neurological Research to Readings
In Oliver Sacks The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, he denotes a deficit is an impairment
or incapacity of neurological function; such as loss of speech, loss of language, loss of memory,
loss of vision loss of dexterity, or loss of identity (Sacks, 1985). The specific neurological disorder
that is highlighted in chapter one is Visual Agnosia, which is a deficit associated with poor primary
visual processing that affects shape perception, figures, object, face and letter recognition (Serino,
et al., 2014). Other subtypes of visual agnosia that also seemed to fit the descriptions that Sacks
shared is prosopagnosia, which is the inability to recognize human faces (Shah, 2016), and
pantomime agnosia, characterized as the inability to understand gestures (Gonzalez, Mack,
Heilman, K., 1986).
In chapter one, Sacks talks about a patient dubbed Dr P, who was a musician, singer, artist, and a
teacher at the Local of Music. Dr P had problems recognizing his students faces, which is when
his problems were first recognized. He could not recognize people until they started talking or
moving, and would see faces where there were none, such as in furniture, water hydrants, and
parking meters. However, this did not seem to trouble him, and did not seek any sort of medical
help, until years later when he developed diabetes. He went to an ophthalmologist, who told him his
vision was fine, but that there was something the matter with the visual part of his brain. That was
when he was referred to Oliver Sacks, a neurologist.
Sacks did not think that the issue was dementia, but did notice something odd about the man.
Sacks noticed that Dr P would fixate on details about his face, but not on the face or expressions
as a whole. After an initial neurological exam, Sacks noticed that the man s reflexes were a bit
abnormal on his left side, as he had taken off his shoe, but failed to realize that he did not have it
on. He also had trouble looking at a pin on the floor, but only if it was put on his left side. It is
interesting to note that the left hemifield of both eyes is sent to the right

Social And Economical Factors On Youth Essay
I have chosen to research into the social and economical factors that may influence a youth s
likelihood to engage in delinquency as I believe that understanding the factors underpinning youth
offending may help to reduce youth crime levels, as preventive measures can be aimed at the
distinct root causes recognised. I have chosen to particularly look at the link between the social
factor of education in terms of low school attainment and the wider effect on the economy through
looking at youth unemployment and offending. I believe these social and economical factors are
inextricably linked therefore I hypothesise that low school attainment leads to increases in youth
crimelevels due to youths not acquiring the necessary skills to allow a successful entrance to the
labour market.
Methodology:
In carrying out this literature review I have engaged in secondary research in order to provide me
with significant qualitative and quantitative data on this given topic. I collected a range of sources
through library searches where I aimed to research previous studies through the use of the internet
to access online resources, books and journals. Upon doing so I found a few books that
encompassed the social and economical factors I specifically chose to review although I found
many websites that had information on the social economical factors that may affect delinquency.
Findings:
Education Low school attainment:
All sources reviewed agreed that there is a correlation

Poverty Between Poverty And Poverty
Poverty eradication has become one of the main goals within the last few decades as shown through
the recently expired Millennium Development Goals and the subsequent Sustainable Development
Goals. Poverty, in turn, is influential as high poverty causes worse health outcomes within a
country. Poverty severely affects several aspects of quality of life, such as health, happiness. This
makes it important to evaluate the quality of life within a country. Povertyand Inequality have been
linked together by the World Bankin their report. This chapter will look at how the economic
inequalitywithin Japan, the United Kingdom, South Africa and Brazil have either increased or
decreased poverty within a country. The indicators this chapter shall... Show more content on

As previously shown, most economic indicators have flaws. The problem with a poverty line is
that a slight difference in the poverty line may cause a seismic shift in the number of people
considered in poverty. It also does not take into consideration prices around the world unless PPP
and a basket is never truly uniform through the world. In contrast to absolute poverty, relative
poverty is measured by a person s income in relation to people from the same country or region.
Relative poverty, as measured by OECD this is 60% of the median income salary. Also, if the
hypothesis that humans relate our achievements and happiness according to a reference group, then
relative poverty is just as if not more important than absolute poverty especially on quality of life.
So, whilst looking at economic inequality, we shall use both relative and absolute poverty stats to
help better understand the effect on economic inequality on poverty.
As mentioned in Brazil and South Africa in the last couple of decades we have seen accelerated
growth with Brazil s growth being considered equal in contrast to the rapidly increasing inequality
experienced in South Africa. The above figure shows the available statistics from Brazil and South
Africa in absolute poverty reduction from the World Bank; a reputable organisation involved in the

Patriarchy In The Han Dynasty
Patriarchy is a system that determines the hierarchy of men within a society and defines men as the
head of the household. Patriarchy provided men with family authority which acted as a model for
political authority. In ancient China, emperorship was passed on through hereditary principles
within a ruling familylineage or dynasty. The Han dynasty had adopted Confucianism as the state
ideology of Northern China, which implemented changes to the social order. Confucius believed
that everyone should be taught their role in society, but his teachings did little to help women learn
their roles. Ban Zhao, a female Chinese historian born in the first century to a famous family in the
Han dynasty, wrote Lessons for a Woman. Her work highlighted the importance of male authority
and women s perspectives of the patriarchal society that was influenced by Confucianism.
Confucianism is a philosophy that focused on family and social harmony, rather than on spiritual
values. Women s roles were not clearly defined by Confucianism, and many women were
uneducated on the role they played in the household and society. Ban Zhao wrote Lessons for a

Persuasive Essay On Winning Games
The thrill of winning a trophy for the first time is always memorable, however, it brings up the
question: Is receiving an award for participating just as exciting? Participation awards are a topic
highly debated among those of all ages, with none agreeing on a single answer. Individuals who are
under the impression that they are essential believe they boost a childs confidence and self esteem.
This may be true in some cases, but these trophies could be doing more harm than good. Although
in the moment they may appear to be wholesome, they have a lasting effect on children as they
grow older. Many children put loads of effort into winning awards, which is belittled by
participation trophies that are not only unhelpful and unrewarding, but don t teach them the
important values learned by losing.
Of course, participation trophies take away from the true meaning of receiving an award and
enjoying the sport. Her daughter rarely showed up for her soccer team. She had a terrible
attitude, Dweck says. In spite of that, at the end she got a giant trophy and would have been
devastated had she not (Turner). Children who put no effort into the sport or activity they have
joined still receive an award for being a part of it. This is extremely unfair to those who actually
worked hard to make their team successful because it rewards the kids who were barely even
engaged in the sport. We need look no further than the 2011 World Series for the value of earning
trophies

The Legal Responsibilities Of Surrogacy
What is surrogacy? The definition of surrogacy is: The process of giving birth as a surrogate
mother or of arranging for another women to carry and give birth to a baby for you/ a couple
who want to have a child. There is a contract that should be drawn up stating the legal
responsibilities of the surrogate and the specifics as to when the child is born if the surrogate will
have any visitation rights or if they will relinquish all legal parental rights over the child.
Issue
Surrogacy is becoming more popular as time goes by however there are several legal as well as
ethical issues coming up when people use a surrogate or are looking into the topic.
Who might want to hire or use a surrogate?
There are many different reasons as to who and why someone may want to use a surrogate to
carry a child for them. Some of the most common reasons include couples who maybe have had
complications and end up miscarrying, couples who it would be dangerous for the mother to be to
carry a child or go through child birth, and even gay/lesbian couples who want to have children.
How surrogacy works. There are actually two kinds of surrogacy. One is Full surrogacy otherwise
known as host/gestational surrogacy; this involves implantation of an embryo created using the
eggs and sperm of the intended parents to be, a donated egg fertilized with the sperm from the
intended father, and an embryo that is created using a donor s eggs and sperm. Gestational
surrogacy has become the preferred method

Under the construction it involves the issue that revenue should be recognised continuously. Some
of the contracts are fixed price based contracts but they will not remain fixed as the contract extends
over a long period of time that s when the contract may include escalation clauses. At the stage of
completion that is determined by the reference of the contract costs incurred to date ,the cost will
reflect on the work performed that is in the costs incurred to date .Contract costs which are excluded
may involve the contract costs that applies to the future activities that is on the contract, this
includes the costs of the materials that have been brought to a contract site but not yet used during
the contract performance .Also the payments made to subcontractors in advance of work performed
under the subcontract.
Most of the businesses can recognise their revenue in a financial year but businesses like
construction are a long term thing and accounting books are done yearly. The accounting of long
term contracts have some complications and the IRS requires the contractors to have a way they
work out their contract and have to reach for an agreement. Normally a contract is a long term and
if not completed in the same tax year it is started, not considering the time that is needed to
complete the job, therefore a specific accounting method has to be used in the first year of the

flashes of light before the start of this sensation made me anxious. I looked around the room and

some were newborn. A young woman, in her twenties, with a short, silky red dress entered the
room on her catwalk and a tack tack tack noise of her boot echoed in the room. As she passed by

The hare gladly accepts the challenge because such a race to him is a joke as he will win

tortoise continues on at his steady pace, never wavering from his task. The hare wakes up and

Characteristics Of Steve Jobs
There are numerous flaws in the concept that a person s culture, family, generation, and upbringing
are more accurate determinants of success when compared to that persons traits such as personality,
ambition, and intelligence. While circumstances being conducive to their needs helps, anyone with
enough determination can rise above obstacles and become an outlier. Arguments against this, often
have faults. There are many clear examples of driven, brilliant people, of all backgrounds, reaching
great heights. One published believer of successful people being a result of their constraints and
opportunities alone, is Malcolm Gladwell. In his book Outliers he highlights several aspects of the
histories of well known identities. He argues... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

if family and culture were playing such a definitive role in the lives of the highly acheived, then
all siblings of someone at the top of the ladder should also excel. Obviously this is not always the

What Is The Theme Of The Catcher In The Rye
The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, is one of the most controversial novels ever written. It
has been banned and unbanned many times and has been constantly cited for its foul language,
lacking plot, and unclear morals. While the novel may have flaws, one would be hard pressed to
find the perfect novel. It is also important to understand the context under which the novel was
written and the ideas and feelings the author was trying to convey. Once these are understood, it
becomes increasingly clear that J.D. Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, definitely still has
a place in school curricula for its unique style. Many teenagers today struggle with depression or
any condition lying on that spectrum, and one of the greatest senses of comfort one can have is
the knowledge that they are not alone in their struggles. Despite being drunk, Mr. Antolini
eloquently highlights this point when talking to Holden later in the novel: Many, many men have
been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept
records of their troubles. You ll learn from them if you want to. Just as someday, if you have
something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It s a beautiful reciprocal arrangement.
And it isn t education. It s history. It s poetry. (Salinger 189) During one of their most
impressionable stages of life, a connection with Holden s feelings can be invaluable for teenagers
when they hit their lows. It s not often that

The Old Testament of the Holy Bible gives many examples which provide modern man with
guidelines for the use of scientific method. Millam (2008) explains that there is an underlying
order in nature demonstrated by the patterns and regularities of God s creations. These regularities
can be seen in the forces of nature and are stable throughout space and time (Millam, 2008). The
original classification of species, use of precise measurement, and even the first account of scientific
research, are all included in the Old Testament of the Holy Scriptures. God gives scientists some
clear frames of reference for seeking knowledge and truth in science.

It was not made to sail, but to float until the water went down and the angel of the Lord opened

keep His covenant with him that if Noah built the Ark and loaded it with the animals and food

Moreover, in operational design, analysis of both adversary and friendly COGs is the key step
providing commander and its staff the way to effectively attack adversary s COGs while protecting
friendly ones. The analysis process must be detailed since a faulty conclusion can have serious
consequences and bring the inability to achieve friendly objectives at an acceptable cost.
Identification of correct COGs and understanding their relationship brings precision to
operational design where planners can successfully apply critical factors analysis to analyze
COG s critical capabilities, requirements, and vulnerabilities. Out of these three critical factors,
the commander will focus its effort to attack vulnerabilities that will produce the most decisive
damage to an adversary s COG. Nevertheless, before COGs are implemented into the plan, they
must be validated because attacking them will cause a change in adversary s course of action
(COA) or prevent it from achieving its objective. Moreover, COGs and their critical vulnerabilities
are subject to change during the operation at any time. Therefore, the commander and its staff must
adapt to the changing circumstances during the operation and adjust their plans and operations
accordingly as adversary s COGs and their critical factors change. Once the COG is defined, the
commander can select the approach deciding to attack it directly or indirectly to achieve its
objective. The direct

Essay about Beowulf and Superman
A hero is defined in classical mythology as a man, especially the son of a god and a mortal, who
is famous for possessing some extraordinary gift. Beowulf, the title character of an epic poem and
Superman, a more modern day hero are both prime examples. Beowulf and Superman exhibit
several differences, but they also share some similar qualities.
Beowulf possessed great strength that separated him from other men. Being able to use a sword
that no ordinary man was able to carry gives the feeling that Beowulf is something more than a

Superman, also known as Clark Kent, is the most popular modern day hero. Superman spent most
of his time saving people from natural disasters and corrupt businessmen. He would level slums to
force the city to build decent housing, and he would use his powers to terrorize munitions makers.
When Superman encounters Kryptonite for the first time it first appears as a red glowing
substance, which Superman uses his powers on to trace its origin. Superman then pays for his
discovery of Kryptonite when Luthor learns to synthesize it, causing it to remain green forever on.
Gravity of Earth did not prove to be a good enough reason for Superman s powers, thus they
attributed his super senses to the yellow sun radiation, and
his muscular strength, speed, and flight due to the Earth s gravity. Due to the new explanation of
his powers, Superman no longer had super powers on a world without a yellow sun. Lex Luthor and
other villains began to create weapons that used quot;red sun radiation quot; which made Superman

Lincoln s Rights Of Slavery
Lincoln has always hated slavery; he thought it was something cruel. He noticed that the nation
started dividing because of this issue and he wanted to fix, at any cost. However he thought he did
not the given power to end slavery and furthermore because the constitution protected slavery, yet
he interfered with this institution after his 1860 election. Though Lincoln had no plan to interfere
with slavery when the war started, by 1862 Lincoln understood that in order to save the Union and
win the war, he had authority as commander in chief to emancipate all the slaves in the Confederate
States, where the states were in a status of rebellion.
Abraham Lincoln naturally hated slavery yet he believed he could not do anything about where it
already existed; his only mission was to stop its expansion. As he says, I have no purpose directly
indirectly to interfere with the institution of slavery in the states where it already exists . Lincoln
believes that he has no lawful right to do he additionally has no inclination to do so . His main
purpose is to stop the expansion of slavery into other free states. Even though that as early as 1854
he cannot but hate, hate it because of the monstrous injustice of slavery it .

make slavery expand in the Louisiana territory. This act repeals the Missouri compromise of 1820,

The First Law Of Thermodynamics
Thermodynamics is the study of heat and energy transfer, more specifically how heat transfer
relates to energy changes within a system. The laws of thermodynamics were developed to
predict and outline behaviors of thermodynamic processes (5). The First Law of
Thermodynamics states that the change in a system s internal energy is equal to the difference
between heat added to the system from its surroundings and work done by the system on its
surroundings (5). The idea behind this is conservation of energy, meaning all energy in and out
of a system must be accounted for. If energy is added to a system in the form of heat, it must be
used. If heat is added to a system, the system either performs work (an exothermic process) or
changes internal energy (an endothermic process) (4). Enthalpy, a thermodynamic potential, is
the measure of the energy within this system. The change in enthalpy, H, must be measured in
order to find out how energy is transferred throughout a system. If H has a positive value, the
system is endothermic and it will keep the added heat, increasing its internal energy. If H has a
negative value, it means the system lost heat or did work when energy was put into the system,
so the system is exothermic (3). Gibbs Free Energy, G, is the maximum amount of energy or
enthalpy available to do work. The decrease in Gibbs Free Energy is equivalent to the work done
by a system to its surroundings, excluding pressure work (5). A negative G is required for a

The Case Of The Lawsuit
The Complaint Should Be Dismissed Because the Statute of Limitations Has Ran
Shahmaleki s complaint is futile because the statute limitation has run on the civil rights claims. 42
U.S.C. В§ 1982 does not include its own statutes of limitations. Instead, courts borrow limitation
periods from state law. Courts adopt the most analogous limitations period. In Kansas, the
analogous action for В§ 1983 is injury to the rights of another. That means under Kansas law, the
statutes of limitations for claims arising out of В§ 1983 is two years. Here, the statutes of
limitations period has passed. The claim set out by Shahmaleki arose on May 1, 2013. As two
years have passed since the claim arose, the statute of limitations has run and this Court should
dismiss Shahmaleki s complaint.
The amended complaint also does not relate back to the original complaint. An amendment to
change or add a party must meet the requirements listed under 15(c) of the Federal Rules of Civil
Procedure for it relate back. These requirements are 1) the amended claim must arise out of the
conduct, transaction, or occurrence set out in the original pleading, 2) sufficient notice must be
provided to the new parties, and 3) the new defendants must have known or should have known that
the action would be brought against them, but for a mistake concerning the proper party s identity.
In this case, the Defendants do not dispute the first two requirements, but Shahmaleki has not

Hero and Leander by Peter Paul Reubens
During this semester s course we have studied various styles of art throughout Europe, and what
has intrigued me the most is Baroque art. Baroque, as we have studied it, is a period of artistic
style that used exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to produce drama, in
sculpture, and painting. Baroquestyle began in Rome, Italy in the 1600s and quickly spread
throughout Europe. The Baroque style was endorsed by the Roman Catholic Church, in their
response to the Protestant Reformation. The Church encouraged artists to create works of art that
would connect their audience intellectually and emotionally with religious themes. For my final
visual analysis I have chosen Hero and Leander, by Peter Paul Rubens(Figure 1). Rubens created
this oil on canvas painting between 1604 and 1605 in Lombardy, Italy. Ruben s painting features
Leander, a youth of Abydos, who used to swim across the waters at night to Sestos on the
opposite side to meet his lover Hero, a priestess of Aphrodite. The painting measures 96 X 127 cm
and is currently located in the Yale University Art Museum, in New Haven, Connecticut. (Early
mythological paintings) From Hero and Leander we can see the influence that Michelangelo and
Titian had on Rubens during his career, in particular, how the human body moves in extreme ways.
Emil Kren and Daniel Marx, on the Web Gallery of Art, give a nice summary of the subject of
Ruben s painting.

The Prince And The Pauper By Mark Twain
In The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain, Twain suggest that even though Edward and Tom
switch lives they have the same knowledge. The two main characters are Edward Tudor, who is
part of the royal bloodline, and Tom Canty, who is a poor boy where domestic violence occurs in
his house on a daily basis. How these two completely opposite citizens of England meet is
strange. One day Tom, who is the poor boy, is walking near the castle. As he walks near the
castle Edward, who is the prince of England, is walking into the castle and a guard treats Tom
poorly. Edward saw how the guard treated Tom and decided to invite him into the castle. While
they were in the castle, they talked about their different lifestyle and how every day went for
them. As they were talking, Tom and Edward became envious of each other s lifestyle. Tom liked
the royal life that Edward had, and Edward liked Tom s life of roaming freely and playing in mud.

What Twain is suggesting is that people use their senses, particularly the visual sense when they
first meet someone. At first sight, people can t tell what type of personality someone has, one
can only see a person s appearance. If you smell good or you are dressed nicely, you are sought
as a person that has money and a certain social status. In this case, since Tom is the poor kid
dressed like a king, the commoners of England think he really is the king rather than a poor
person who begs on the streets. On the other hand the real king, Edward, is dressed like a poor
person and people believe that he really is a poor person and not the King of England. Furthermore,
another example is Miles Hendon. Although he has important people family members, people think
that he is poor since he wears only rags. Those three instances show what you can perceive the first

DNA And DNA Analysis
Part A
Done on the attached paper.
Answers to questions
1)How were you able to derive amino acids from your DNA sequence?
First of all, from the sense strand given in the question, I derived the antisense strand for it. This is
done by using the complementary Nitrogenous base concept. Guanine complements Cytosine,
Thymine complements Adenine and vice versa. Once this is done, we obtain the antisense strand.
Now the antisense strand is transcribed into messenger RNA (mRNA). Again Cytosine becomes
Guanine, Guanine becomes cytosine, Adenine becomes Uracil and thiamine becomes Adenine. In
this way we obtain an (mRNA) strand with codons (combinations of three nitrogenous bases). Now
we obtain the tRNA by converting the codons into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In transcription, a DNA sequence is read by an RNA polymerase, which produces a
complementary, antisense RNA strand called a primary transcript from a strand of DNA called
sense strand.
In contrast with DNA replication, transcription results in an RNA complement that includes the
nucleotideUracil (U) in all cases where Thymine (T) would have been in a DNA complement.
Only one of the two strands of DNA act as a template for transcription. The antisense strand of
DNA is read by RNA polymerase starting from the 3 end to the 5 end during transcription which
proceeds from 3 end to the 5 end. The complementary RNA is created in the exact opposite
direction, i.e. the 5 to 3 direction, matching the sequence of the sensestrand with the exception of
replacing uracil with thymine. This directionality occursas RNA polymerase is only able to add
nucleotides to the 3 end of the elongating mRNA chain.
The non template or sensestrand of DNA is termed as the coding strand as its sequence is the same
as the newly created RNA transcript (except for the replacement of uracil for thymine)
.
Transcription proceeds in the following general steps:
1.RNA polymerase, together with one or some other general transcription factors, binds to promoter
DNA.
2.RNA polymerase makes a transcription bubble, which divides the two strands of the DNA helix.
This is achieved by breaking the hydrogen bonds between complementary

The Importance Of The Renaissance During The Renaissance
The word Renaissance comes from the Italian word rebirth and it was used to describe their own
age which new literature, learning, and arts were discovered and reborn after the long lasting
Middle Ages, and these things were one of the most important aspects of the Renaissance. This
means that many new types and techniques of art were found during the Renaissanceperiod as the
Renaissance artists had so much passion for art. They used paintings and drawings to record
different things that had happened such as portraits of themselves, their accomplishments in
successful battles against other countries.
The Renaissance period was said to be one of the most interesting periods of the European history.

This is really important because before, the human society was focused more on the religious
way of life. Churches had more influence on us but because of the rise of the Renaissance during
its time period, the people had a lot more focus on the human side of life, they had a different
view of the world in a different perspective. The reason why humanism plays a big part of our
society today is because it had a philosophy that humans should be acclaimed for their
achievements, according to Importance of Humanism, (http://world history.nmhblogs.org/2012/11
/18/the importance of humanism/). If there were no humanism, our world would be totally
different. The church would have kept its power and the influence it had on us humans and it
would be able to shape people s minds. We also would not have great art and literature, like
paintings from Leonardo Da Vinci. We all have taken great jump and improvement in our
advancements in technology, individualism and science. So without humanism, the world we are
living in would different from the world we are living in now. I think that had impacts in art
because people back in the Renaissance thought that the human body was a beautiful creation of the
gods. After that, many artists began to closely study the anatomy in order to portrait the beauty of
the body properly (naturalism). The difference between the middle ages and the renaissance art is
that during the middle ages, as we all know artists during that time didn t really focus on realism
which means that the paints of humans weren t very realistic and accurate. Unlike the renaissance
art, artists even began to study the human bodies to accurately portrait them. For my painting, I

of either the capitalist block, led by USA or the Socialist block led by the former USSR. In that
global division of Africa and Arab Countries, both Ethiopia and the Gulf Arab Countries was strong
adherent with the capitalist block. Both enjoyed American and West European political patronage
and protection. Thus imperial Ethiopia and the Gulf Arab Countries were partners against the

Surprisingly, their strong and pro capitalist political alliance did not led to significant involvement
of the rich Gulf Arab Countries in Ethiopian economic development during the rule of Emperor

African Countries during the same period. But it is still very curious to know the reasons for

One may assume that the political crisis that erupted after formal abolition of the federal status of
Eritrea in 1962 ignited resentment and anger in the Arab Worldincluding the Gulf Arab Countries

frustration in Eritrea and the neighboring Muslim Arab World.

Food Preservatives And Its Effects On Food
Food Preservatives Food preservatives are described as natural means or man made chemicals
that are used in foods to prevent them from spoiling. A subgroup of preservatives are food
additives, which differ from preservatives in the way that additives are not only used to lengthen
the life of food, but also to improve taste and appearance. The ultimate goal of preservatives and
additives are to improve the quality and lifespan of food by slowing down the decomposition
process using chemicals or natural methods, such as salt and dehydration. Food preservatives
can be broken down into two basic groups natural and chemical. Natural preservatives are
methods such as sun drying, freezing, or adding other ingredients like honey that essentially
slow down the speed at which food spoils. Chemical preservatives are chemicals added to foods
for the same purpose as natural preservatives are. It is the same with additives; the difference
being that they may be also used to purposely change a food s look and taste. Preservatives and
additives are used in most of foods, especially in our pre packaged meals, whether it be natural or
chemical versions being added. According to historical records, natural methods of preservation,
such as salting or dehydrating, have been around for centuries. When humans began to switch from
hunting and gathering to a more agricultural approach, they needed a way to make food last for
longer periods of time. This became an obvious problem as food

Theodore Roosevelt And The Progressive Era
Upon the arrival of the Progressive Era, America shared several common characteristics of the
industrialized countries: drastically increased population, overcrowded cities, poor working
conditions, and significant economic disparity. Three presidents Theodore Roosevelt, William
Taft, and Woodrow Wilson during the Progressive Era made essential domestic reforms and
launched new foreign policies in order to construct America into a more prosperous country and a
leading power around the globe. A driving force in the Progressive Era, Theodore Roosevelt
believed that the government had the right to regulate big business and that the government should
use its resources to help achieve economic and social justice. In his first term, he launched the
Square Deal, which focused on the control of corporations, the consumer protection, and the
conservation of natural resources. In order to achieve his goal of controlling the large corporations
and railroad companies, Congress, under Roosevelt s urge, created the Department of Commerce
and Labor to monitor corporations, help dissolve monopolies, and promote fair competition
between companies. At the same year, Roosevelt initialized the Elkins Act of 1903 to end the
practice of railroad granting shipping rebates to certain companies, and three years later, Theodore s
administration issued the Hepburn Act, which gave the Interstate Commerce Commission the

Essay about Analysis of We Real Cool by Gwendolyn Brooks
Poetry Essay
We Real Cool , Gwendolyn Brooks
The poem We Real Cool is a very powerful poem, although expressed with very few words. To me,
this poem describes the bottom line of the well known ghetto life . It describes the desperate and
what they need, other than the usual what they want, money. Without actually telling us all about
the seven young men, it does tell us about them. The poem tells of the men s fears, their ambitions,
and who they think they are, versus who they really are. The poem begins with the word We , which
is the only line in the poem that begins in this such manor, although the word we is repeated six
more times throughout the poem. The we that I believe is represented at the beginning is the ...

They feel as if they are all, real cool . However, as the poem continues, the repeated We is seen
not at the beginning, but at the end of each line. This simultaneously displays a certain aspect
that was not seen in the first line. It shows certain confusions and distinct uncertainties about the
group s identity, or even as an example of protesting too much, whether there s a group identity
at all. Who is We that they are so insistent about? Repeated as it is, the We gets smaller and
smaller. She is saying that in life it may seem like we , but it all comes to a point where the we
gradually starts representing one individual, rather than a whole group. The poet has in fact said
that the we is supposed to be read in a small and uncertain way, thus the reason for the
unpunctuated we at the end of each line after the initial We in the beginning of the poem. That
word kind of becomes a question, as well as a refrain. The unity that was seen in the beginning
becomes less and less apparent as the poem continues.
Brooks continues the poem saying, We / Left school . Making the hopelessness of this scenario
even more obvious. Brooks not only arranges the wording in this poem to show a desperate need,
but she speaks of one as well. The fact that these seven young men have no education shows exactly
how unpromising their futures are or are going to be if they continue down a path trying to impress
each other

Defining Fair Punishment
The first and greatest punishment of the sinner is the conscience of sin.
Lucius Annaeus Seneca
What is the purpose of punishment? Ultimately a fair and effective punishment must not only
prevent future transgressions, but also teach a valuable life lesson. While some punishments may
seem standard: a grounding for breaking curfew, a detention for misbehaving in class, a jail
sentence for robbery, not all punishments are so cut and dry. Take the case of Casey Heynes. A
video which has since gone viral depicts the March 2011 incident. Ritchard Gale, 12, appears to
tease and taunt Casey, 15, and unleash a few unretaliated punches. In response, Casey picks
Ritchard up, and slams him to the ground. While Ritchard was relatively physically unscathed in
the encounter, Casey could have inflicted quite serious damage. It was revealed through family and
witness interviews that Casey was indeed provoked, and had suffered bullying at the hands of
classmates for years. Regardless, school and societal rules were broken, and consequences must
follow. What then, is a fair punishment? Casey Heynes should receive a four day at home
suspension. In addition, he should participate in a bullying prevention group at his school and
attend a one day anger management course. This represents a fair punishment, as it acts as a
reasonable deterrent, allows Casey to demonstrate remorse, and is reflective of both Casey and
Ritchard s feelings. In order for a punishment to be

How to Go Broke
Going broke is a very tedious and cumbersome activity, which requires constant vigilance and
tireless effort. Although many have accomplished this feat on their own, many of us require
some form of guidance. This serves as the quintessential handbook of how to get broke; it shall
be called The House of Cards Insolvency Process Guide. To begin, it is critical to limit the term
broke as financially bankrupt. Although at times broke can refer to moral emptiness or may even
be used to describe both pecuniary and personal ruin, we limit our definition strictly to fiscal
failure. Before we delve into the step by step guidelines on achieving one s bankruptcy, certain
foundations are suggested to be laid out in order to facilitate the process.... Show more content on

One must pretend to know the broad and yet differentiated world of banking and equity portfolios
without bothering to actually learn about them. Use words such as instability , hedging , and
derivatives to inspire awe and trust among those who discuss these activities with you. Of utmost
importance to Step Two, one must invest in only certain types of products to assure that one s
portfolio remains inflexible and susceptible to crashing. Next comes the more advanced form of
unwise asset management: putting up businesses. In the Sound Business stage, the thoughtless and
unabashed purchasing habits initiated in Step One shall be the basis. At this point, the financially
carefree person should have festered into a near irrational spender. Combined with the presumed
delusions of grandeur instilled within every money dependent being, one s illogical fund
management should produce poorly thought through and totally unreasoned out business plans.
Logic and better judgment that should dawn on a person after a few days of the first occurrence
of the insane business idea should be shelved for other situations. Ideas like creating exotic pet
shops selling poisonous snails and scorpions, making edible condoms, and putting up a sperm bank
should be seen as profitable and nothing short of genius market differentiation. It is advised to fund
the aforementioned businesses via bank loans for higher interest rates, but if

In this research, the authors developed an inexpensive method to help firms assess the relative
effectiveness of multiple advertising media. Specifically, they used a firm s loyalty program
database(Case Study) to capture media exposure, through an online media survey. At the end, not
only did the authors demonstrate how to use their advertising response model to determine the
optimal budget allocation across each advertising media channel, but also they pointed out the
limitations of their studies.

Shadow Tsarin Anna Dalassena In Anna Of Byzantium
Shadow Tsarina : Anna Dalassena
Athletes are born to play. Musicians are born to play. But, a leader? A leader is born to lead. Anna
Dalassena, the mother of the Emperor Alexius, possesses traits that make her suitable for the
position of a fit ruler. Anna of Byzantium, written by Tracy Barrett is a noveldescribing the life of
Anna Comnena through her point of view; she describes how her grandmother, Anna Dalassena,
had changed her life from the royal palace to the ramshackled convent. Dalassena plans out what
she needs to do in order to restore the power in her hands while maintaining her composure but
makes sure to adapt to the pertaining situation. Deluding the minds of the commoners to the minds
of the royal blood, her practicality allows her to use cunning techniques that others may pass as

Dalessana exemplifies this by saying, Leading to the degeneracy of their countries...Even if the
firstborn son is an idiot or a criminal, he must inherit, Now wonder the petty lordlings of the West
are continually arguing with each other, unable to agree among themselves (Barrett 19). While
talking amongst the sovereignty in discussion with the foreign ambassadors, Anna doesn t accept
the fact that the firstborn son should always get priority to the throne and refutes it with her own
thoughts. It is quite evident to see that Dalassena takes in account of what is going to be the best
for her empire not for what seems to be the custom that everyone supposedly follows. Keeping her
composure, thinking it all through, understanding and analyzing her prior experiences, Anna
Dalassena takes the initiative to make a standpoint on how it s not always customs and traditions
but how it s necessary for the emperor or empress to be strong, both physically and mentally.
Practicability alone will not bring out the ultimate power of the

Narrative Essay On Franky
Hanging out and trying to stay cool Chillz was relaxing at the bus stop waiting for his friend
Franky to return. The big difference between now and before was this time around Chillz was
sipping on a 32 ounce of ice tea. This kept him nice and cool as he waited there for Franky to
arrive. As he sat back he watched traffic go by Chillz thinking, I wonder where Franky is? I
know it cannot take him this long to go and get my inhaler. As soon as Chillz had finished that
thought; in the distance he caught a glimpse of his buddy racing toward him. The funny thing
was looking at Franky; Chillz knew something was wrong as he saw the look in his eyes. Just by
the panic on his face he knew something was up. Standing up to greet his friend as soon as
Franky got next to Chillz, he looked terrified yelling, Dude we have a serious problem! Not
really understanding why Franky was so upset Chillz replied, Franky, what in the world is wrong
with you? I think you have been riding your skateboard in the heat too long. Stepping back Franky
paused. This is where he began watching Chillz. Responding to his friend s behavior Chillz looked
at Franky even stranger. He could not figure out why his friend was staring at him. The... Show

How Does Agatha Christie Create Suspense
Agatha Christie wrote the murder mystery And Then There Were None. In this novel, a deranged
person plans and executes the deaths of ten people. These victims were invited as guests for a
weekend vacation to Indian Island in Britain. There, one by one, they are killed by the mysterious
U. N. Owen, who is posing as a guest and killing the others using methods derived from the nursery
rhyme Ten Little Indians. It is discovered that each guest had committed an indirect act of murder
that they could not be legally prosecuted for, and that the sadistic yet justice obsessed murderer was
trying to avenge the deaths of the guests victims. Christie builds suspense in the novel And Then
There Were None through punctuation, dialogue, and text features.... Show more content on

An example of this occurs just before it is discovered that Mrs. Rogers, the second victim, is
dead. At this time, Mr. Rogers, her husband, comes to Dr. Armstrong s room, frightened. Mr.
Rogers exclaims, Doctor doctor! . . . It s the wife, doctor. I can t get her to wake. My God! I can
t get her to wake. And and she don t look right to me (Christie 83). This dialogue builds suspense
because one person has already died in the story, so the reader is meant to feel worried that
another has died. Such worry easily translates to suspense in a mystery novel. In this case, it is
because of the previously occurring death and the fear of another that is rooted in the reader s
mind, which helps to bring about uncertainty and anxiety. Naturally, this creates a mood change in
the reader. Prior to Rogers s frightened exclamation, a murderous dream of the doctor s is being
recounted. There, the mood is scared and confused, as the doctor seems to not be mentally sound
during the dream. The sudden appearance of Rogers shifts the mood to a more tense and anxious
fear, one that is characteristic of a possible abrupt death. Hence, dialogue is an important tool used
to build suspense in the

The Physiological Phenomena During Sex
This paper will explore the physiological phenomena during sex and if it holds to be proven about
all creatures. Sigmund Freud invented Psychoanalysis, which is the theory and therapy of treating
people who suffer from nervous disorders by researching the unconscious mind that makes us
repress or push our urges and desires. From Psychoanalysis, stems Psychosexual development,
which believe that from birth humans experience sxual energy going through five stages in their
life. This theory could have inspired the two researchers between the late 1950s and early 1960s,
William H. Masters and his partner, Virginia E. Johnson. Masters and Johnsondeeply investigated

Despite of all the data Masters and Johnson collected, Shere Hite was one their criticizer, who
strongly believe there was some faults in the information they wrote about females and orgasms.
The following questions will answer the confusion about sexuality:
What is Psychosexuality and how does it impact Masters and Johnson s work? Does animals prove
the Human Sexual Response cycle?
Does Hite highlight the flaws in the Human Sexual Response?
Therefore, Masters and Johnson s human sexual cycle is accurate because it efficiently sorts the
physiological changes for all creatures.
Psychosexuality
Animals and the human sexual response. In the empirical article, What Can Animal Models Tell
Us About Human Sexual Response? eas done by James G Pfaus, Tod E. Kippin, Genaro Coria
Avila explains the Human Sexual Response done by sex researchers, William Masters and Virginia

responses of sexual stimulation. The question the focuses on was what can animal models tell us
about human sexual response and the hypothesis they focus on to examine how it causes desire and
how sexual stimulation. Neuroendocrinologist study animals, while Clinicians focus on humans

Community Development Reflection
I have enjoyed taking this class this semester. Even though I hit a few hiccups along the way I

can benefit by taking this class and learning more about the health issues within a community. The
information can also be carried on and utilized within many other professions. I have shared many
of my learningexperiences from this class with family and friends and have passed on a lot of
knowledge. I honestly feel taking this class in a classroom would have been more educational to
me. The use of visuals and hands on is a way I like to learn and as a result I would have retained
and understood more in this area. Having an experience professional in the career already
attending the class and sharing would have helped me too. Even though I did take this class
online and a lot of topics were covered in a short amount of time a lot of good information was
taken in. It does help that I have experienced on some level of the topics that were presented. There

The Dysfunctional Family In The Movie And Ordinary People
While there is no one proper way to deal with the death of a child and the attempted suicide of
another child, the behaviors of the family members in the aftermath can provide great insight into
functioning of the family. In chapter two, Turner and West (2013) discuss the dialectic approach to
family communication, and in the film, Ordinary People, we encounter a dysfunctional familythat
deals with contradictory impulses that both drive apart and pull together the family. It is useful to
analyze the Jarretts from this approach because each member has these impulses that impact their
relationship to other members that cause instances of change and stability in the family over time.
When we look at the individual family members that comprise this family, we can identify the
specific tensions they possess given the behaviors they express. A dialecticthat is present in the
case of Conrad is openness/protection in which he struggles between sharing and concealing
personal information (Turner West, 2013). We see him dealing with his emotional issues on his
own, as he does not tell his parents how he is feeling and, in turn, makes his depression an issue
that he will deal with on his with his psychiatrist. However, while he has the impulse to protect his
personal thoughts and feelings, he at the same time has the impulse to be open and talk about Buck
with his mother while they are in the backyard, which is something that makes Beverly angry. Here
we can see how the conflicting

Lilo and Stitch is a Disney which was aimed for kids but the author used Campbell s technique to give a better understanding of the story not only for kids. This justifies that hero s are not always followed by very godly like leaders. The proof of Lilo and stitch being created based on the mono myths helped show that the Hero s journey is ambiguous. The odyssey was an overall heroic theme with a splash of patriarchy added to show the dominance of men. The mono myths helped create an entertaining plot of a heroic kind of story. The lack of understanding cause further political constraints and leads to interagency bickering. Military leaders need to do better at articulating the merits of UW as a viable and strategic option. The lack of understanding UW stems from two parts. First, military leaders lack the understanding and practical application. Second, the lack of understanding leads to an inability to articulate the merits of UW to senior leaders. Special Operation Forces (SOF) need to be well versed in all UW activities. SOF training focuses on combat or direct support to guerrilla operations using the seven phases of resistance. This one dimensional understanding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The History And Development Of The Ancient Greek Theatre Our dramas, plays and theatres today are all originally inspired by the classic Greek theatres. The classic Greek theatres can be said as the pioneer in theatricals. As early as 700 B.C., ancient Greek theatre was originated. There are four qualities of ancient Greek theatre which are the occasions for its performance, competitive element, choral element and the basis of the theatre. The earliest theatres or dramas were staged during spring to honor the god Dionysus. This festival, City Dionysia was established by the Athenian ruler named Pisistratus. In Greek mythology, Dionysus was known as the son of Zeus, the only god who was born by one god and one mortal parent, Semele. He was also known as the god of wine, fertility and revelry. He was raised by satyrs, killed, dismembered and was actually reborn. While other gods had temples for themselves, the cult of Dionysus was hold in the wood. It was believed that he could liberate and inspire man. It was also believed that he could endow man with divine creativity. Thus, Dionysus was considered as a patron of arts. As had been mentioned earlier, the festival, City Dionysia featured competition such as in music, dance, poetry and singing and prizes were awarded to the winners each year. Actors and playwrights presented tragedies and comedies during the three days of this festival and they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order for officers to make the appropriate decision, proper training must take place. In order to perform at their best, they must become familiarized with federal and state court cases, state law, and departmental policies directing such actions (Lim Lee, 2015). • 8. Summary Of Oliver SacksThe Man Who Mistoook His Wife For A... Tying Neurological Research to Readings Jose Massana Florida International University Tying Neurological Research to Readings In Oliver Sacks The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, he denotes a deficit is an impairment or incapacity of neurological function; such as loss of speech, loss of language, loss of memory, loss of vision loss of dexterity, or loss of identity (Sacks, 1985). The specific neurological disorder that is highlighted in chapter one is Visual Agnosia, which is a deficit associated with poor primary visual processing that affects shape perception, figures, object, face and letter recognition (Serino, et al., 2014). Other subtypes of visual agnosia that also seemed to fit the descriptions that Sacks shared is prosopagnosia, which is the inability to recognize human faces (Shah, 2016), and pantomime agnosia, characterized as the inability to understand gestures (Gonzalez, Mack, Heilman, K., 1986). In chapter one, Sacks talks about a patient dubbed Dr P, who was a musician, singer, artist, and a teacher at the Local of Music. Dr P had problems recognizing his students faces, which is when his problems were first recognized. He could not recognize people until they started talking or moving, and would see faces where there were none, such as in furniture, water hydrants, and parking meters. However, this did not seem to trouble him, and did not seek any sort of medical help, until years later when he developed diabetes. He went to an ophthalmologist, who told him his vision was fine, but that there was something the matter with the visual part of his brain. That was when he was referred to Oliver Sacks, a neurologist. Sacks did not think that the issue was dementia, but did notice something odd about the man. Sacks noticed that Dr P would fixate on details about his face, but not on the face or expressions as a whole. After an initial neurological exam, Sacks noticed that the man s reflexes were a bit abnormal on his left side, as he had taken off his shoe, but failed to realize that he did not have it on. He also had trouble looking at a pin on the floor, but only if it was put on his left side. It is interesting to note that the left hemifield of both eyes is sent to the right ... • 9. Social And Economical Factors On Youth Essay I have chosen to research into the social and economical factors that may influence a youth s likelihood to engage in delinquency as I believe that understanding the factors underpinning youth offending may help to reduce youth crime levels, as preventive measures can be aimed at the distinct root causes recognised. I have chosen to particularly look at the link between the social factor of education in terms of low school attainment and the wider effect on the economy through looking at youth unemployment and offending. I believe these social and economical factors are inextricably linked therefore I hypothesise that low school attainment leads to increases in youth crimelevels due to youths not acquiring the necessary skills to allow a successful entrance to the labour market. Methodology: In carrying out this literature review I have engaged in secondary research in order to provide me with significant qualitative and quantitative data on this given topic. I collected a range of sources through library searches where I aimed to research previous studies through the use of the internet to access online resources, books and journals. Upon doing so I found a few books that encompassed the social and economical factors I specifically chose to review although I found many websites that had information on the social economical factors that may affect delinquency. Findings: Education Low school attainment: All sources reviewed agreed that there is a correlation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Poverty Between Poverty And Poverty Poverty eradication has become one of the main goals within the last few decades as shown through the recently expired Millennium Development Goals and the subsequent Sustainable Development Goals. Poverty, in turn, is influential as high poverty causes worse health outcomes within a country. Poverty severely affects several aspects of quality of life, such as health, happiness. This makes it important to evaluate the quality of life within a country. Povertyand Inequality have been linked together by the World Bankin their report. This chapter will look at how the economic inequalitywithin Japan, the United Kingdom, South Africa and Brazil have either increased or decreased poverty within a country. The indicators this chapter shall... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As previously shown, most economic indicators have flaws. The problem with a poverty line is that a slight difference in the poverty line may cause a seismic shift in the number of people considered in poverty. It also does not take into consideration prices around the world unless PPP and a basket is never truly uniform through the world. In contrast to absolute poverty, relative poverty is measured by a person s income in relation to people from the same country or region. Relative poverty, as measured by OECD this is 60% of the median income salary. Also, if the hypothesis that humans relate our achievements and happiness according to a reference group, then relative poverty is just as if not more important than absolute poverty especially on quality of life. So, whilst looking at economic inequality, we shall use both relative and absolute poverty stats to help better understand the effect on economic inequality on poverty. As mentioned in Brazil and South Africa in the last couple of decades we have seen accelerated growth with Brazil s growth being considered equal in contrast to the rapidly increasing inequality experienced in South Africa. • 12. Patriarchy In The Han Dynasty Patriarchy is a system that determines the hierarchy of men within a society and defines men as the head of the household. Patriarchy provided men with family authority which acted as a model for political authority. In ancient China, emperorship was passed on through hereditary principles within a ruling familylineage or dynasty. The Han dynasty had adopted Confucianism as the state ideology of Northern China, which implemented changes to the social order. Confucius believed that everyone should be taught their role in society, but his teachings did little to help women learn their roles. Ban Zhao, a female Chinese historian born in the first century to a famous family in the Han dynasty, wrote Lessons for a Woman. Her work highlighted the importance of male authority and women s perspectives of the patriarchal society that was influenced by Confucianism. Confucianism is a philosophy that focused on family and social harmony, rather than on spiritual values. Women s roles were not clearly defined by Confucianism, and many women were uneducated on the role they played in the household and society. Ban Zhao wrote Lessons for a Women to educate women of the role and criteria necessary to be a good wife. • 13. Persuasive Essay On Winning Games The thrill of winning a trophy for the first time is always memorable, however, it brings up the question: Is receiving an award for participating just as exciting? Participation awards are a topic highly debated among those of all ages, with none agreeing on a single answer. Individuals who are under the impression that they are essential believe they boost a childs confidence and self esteem. This may be true in some cases, but these trophies could be doing more harm than good. Although in the moment they may appear to be wholesome, they have a lasting effect on children as they grow older. Many children put loads of effort into winning awards, which is belittled by participation trophies that are not only unhelpful and unrewarding, but don t teach them the important values learned by losing. Of course, participation trophies take away from the true meaning of receiving an award and enjoying the sport. Her daughter rarely showed up for her soccer team. She had a terrible attitude, Dweck says. In spite of that, at the end she got a giant trophy and would have been devastated had she not (Turner). Children who put no effort into the sport or activity they have joined still receive an award for being a part of it. This is extremely unfair to those who actually worked hard to make their team successful because it rewards the kids who were barely even engaged in the sport. It has been banned and unbanned many times and has been constantly cited for its foul language, lacking plot, and unclear morals. While the novel may have flaws, one would be hard pressed to find the perfect novel. It is also important to understand the context under which the novel was written and the ideas and feelings the author was trying to convey. Once these are understood, it becomes increasingly clear that J.D. Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, definitely still has a place in school curricula for its unique style. It s a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn t education. It s history. It s poetry. • 29. The First Law Of Thermodynamics Thermodynamics is the study of heat and energy transfer, more specifically how heat transfer relates to energy changes within a system. The laws of thermodynamics were developed to predict and outline behaviors of thermodynamic processes (5). The First Law of Thermodynamics states that the change in a system s internal energy is equal to the difference between heat added to the system from its surroundings and work done by the system on its surroundings (5). The idea behind this is conservation of energy, meaning all energy in and out of a system must be accounted for. If energy is added to a system in the form of heat, it must be used. If heat is added to a system, the system either performs work (an exothermic process) or changes internal energy (an endothermic process) (4). Enthalpy, a thermodynamic potential, is the measure of the energy within this system. The change in enthalpy, H, must be measured in order to find out how energy is transferred throughout a system. If H has a positive value, the system is endothermic and it will keep the added heat, increasing its internal energy. If H has a negative value, it means the system lost heat or did work when energy was put into the system, so the system is exothermic (3). Gibbs Free Energy, G, is the maximum amount of energy or enthalpy available to do work. The decrease in Gibbs Free Energy is equivalent to the work done by a system to its surroundings, excluding pressure work (5). A negative G is required for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Case Of The Lawsuit The Complaint Should Be Dismissed Because the Statute of Limitations Has Ran Shahmaleki s complaint is futile because the statute limitation has run on the civil rights claims. 42 U.S.C. В§ 1982 does not include its own statutes of limitations. Instead, courts borrow limitation periods from state law. Courts adopt the most analogous limitations period. In Kansas, the analogous action for В§ 1983 is injury to the rights of another. That means under Kansas law, the statutes of limitations for claims arising out of В§ 1983 is two years. • 32. Hero and Leander by Peter Paul Reubens During this semester s course we have studied various styles of art throughout Europe, and what has intrigued me the most is Baroque art. Baroque, as we have studied it, is a period of artistic style that used exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to produce drama, in sculpture, and painting. Baroquestyle began in Rome, Italy in the 1600s and quickly spread throughout Europe. The Baroque style was endorsed by the Roman Catholic Church, in their response to the Protestant Reformation. The Church encouraged artists to create works of art that would connect their audience intellectually and emotionally with religious themes. For my final visual analysis I have chosen Hero and Leander, by Peter Paul Rubens(Figure 1). Rubens created this oil on canvas painting between 1604 and 1605 in Lombardy, Italy. Ruben s painting features Leander, a youth of Abydos, who used to swim across the waters at night to Sestos on the opposite side to meet his lover Hero, a priestess of Aphrodite. The painting measures 96 X 127 cm and is currently located in the Yale University Art Museum, in New Haven, Connecticut. (Early mythological paintings) From Hero and Leander we can see the influence that Michelangelo and Titian had on Rubens during his career, in particular, how the human body moves in extreme ways. First of all, from the sense strand given in the question, I derived the antisense strand for it. This is done by using the complementary Nitrogenous base concept. Guanine complements Cytosine, Thymine complements Adenine and vice versa. Once this is done, we obtain the antisense strand. Now the antisense strand is transcribed into messenger RNA (mRNA). In transcription, a DNA sequence is read by an RNA polymerase, which produces a complementary, antisense RNA strand called a primary transcript from a strand of DNA called sense strand. In contrast with DNA replication, transcription results in an RNA complement that includes the nucleotideUracil (U) in all cases where Thymine (T) would have been in a DNA complement. Only one of the two strands of DNA act as a template for transcription. The antisense strand of DNA is read by RNA polymerase starting from the 3 end to the 5 end during transcription which proceeds from 3 end to the 5 end. The complementary RNA is created in the exact opposite direction, i.e. the 5 to 3 direction, matching the sequence of the sensestrand with the exception of replacing uracil with thymine. This directionality occursas RNA polymerase is only able to add nucleotides to the 3 end of the elongating mRNA chain. The non template or sensestrand of DNA is termed as the coding strand as its sequence is the same as the newly created RNA transcript (except for the replacement of uracil for thymine) . Transcription proceeds in the following general steps: 1.RNA polymerase, together with one or some other general transcription factors, binds to promoter DNA. 2.RNA polymerase makes a transcription bubble, which divides the two strands of the DNA helix. Democracy is a type of government that emanates from the constituted powers that are elected, depending on the system (presidentialist, parliamentary, constitutional monarchy, semi presidentialist, semi parliamentary, etc...) directly or indirectly by the people. The Importance Of The Renaissance During The Renaissance The word Renaissance comes from the Italian word rebirth and it was used to describe their own age which new literature, learning, and arts were discovered and reborn after the long lasting Middle Ages, and these things were one of the most important aspects of the Renaissance. This means that many new types and techniques of art were found during the Renaissanceperiod as the Renaissance artists had so much passion for art. They used paintings and drawings to record different things that had happened such as portraits of themselves, their accomplishments in successful battles against other countries. This is really important because before, the human society was focused more on the religious way of life. Churches had more influence on us but because of the rise of the Renaissance during its time period, the people had a lot more focus on the human side of life, they had a different view of the world in a different perspective. The reason why humanism plays a big part of our society today is because it had a philosophy that humans should be acclaimed for their achievements, according to Importance of Humanism, (http://world history.nmhblogs.org/2012/11 /18/the importance of humanism/). If there were no humanism, our world would be totally different. The church would have kept its power and the influence it had on us humans and it would be able to shape people s minds. We also would not have great art and literature, like paintings from Leonardo Da Vinci. We all have taken great jump and improvement in our advancements in technology, individualism and science. So without humanism, the world we are living in would different from the world we are living in now. I think that had impacts in art because people back in the Renaissance thought that the human body was a beautiful creation of the gods. After that, many artists began to closely study the anatomy in order to portrait the beauty of the body properly (naturalism). The difference between the middle ages and the renaissance art is that during the middle ages, as we all know artists during that time didn t really focus on realism which means that the paints of humans weren t very realistic and accurate. Unlike the renaissance art, artists even began to study the human bodies to accurately portrait them. For my painting, I drew a face of a woman, which shows humanism because I tried really ... In that global division of Africa and Arab Countries, both Ethiopia and the Gulf Arab Countries was strong adherent with the capitalist block. Both enjoyed American and West European political patronage and protection. Thus imperial Ethiopia and the Gulf Arab Countries were partners against the spread of socialist and radical political ideas in this part of the world (Hoynes 1993). Surprisingly, their strong and pro capitalist political alliance did not led to significant involvement of the rich Gulf Arab Countries in Ethiopian economic development during the rule of Emperor Haile Sillassie. We are not very sure about the rate of involvement Gulf Arab countries in other African Countries during the same period. But it is still very curious to know the reasons for complete absence of GCC Arab Countries investment in the Imperial Ethiopia. One may assume that the political crisis that erupted after formal abolition of the federal status of Eritrea in 1962 ignited resentment and anger in the Arab Worldincluding the Gulf Arab Countries (Bahru, 1991). The Eritrean Federal status, prescribed by the UN General Assembly provided that Arabic would be the second official language Muslims of Eritrea would enjoy full fleshed equality in both cultural and political terms. • 39. Food Preservatives And Its Effects On Food Food Preservatives Food preservatives are described as natural means or man made chemicals that are used in foods to prevent them from spoiling. A subgroup of preservatives are food additives, which differ from preservatives in the way that additives are not only used to lengthen the life of food, but also to improve taste and appearance. The ultimate goal of preservatives and additives are to improve the quality and lifespan of food by slowing down the decomposition process using chemicals or natural methods, such as salt and dehydration. Food preservatives can be broken down into two basic groups natural and chemical. Natural preservatives are methods such as sun drying, freezing, or adding other ingredients like honey that essentially slow down the speed at which food spoils. Chemical preservatives are chemicals added to foods for the same purpose as natural preservatives are. It is the same with additives; the difference being that they may be also used to purposely change a food s look and taste. Preservatives and additives are used in most of foods, especially in our pre packaged meals, whether it be natural or chemical versions being added. According to historical records, natural methods of preservation, such as salting or dehydrating, have been around for centuries. When humans began to switch from hunting and gathering to a more agricultural approach, they needed a way to make food last for longer periods of time. This became an obvious problem as food ... Theodore Roosevelt And The Progressive Era Upon the arrival of the Progressive Era, America shared several common characteristics of the industrialized countries: drastically increased population, overcrowded cities, poor working conditions, and significant economic disparity. Three presidents Theodore Roosevelt, William Taft, and Woodrow Wilson during the Progressive Era made essential domestic reforms and launched new foreign policies in order to construct America into a more prosperous country and a leading power around the globe. A driving force in the Progressive Era, Theodore Roosevelt believed that the government had the right to regulate big business and that the government should use its resources to help achieve economic and social justice. In his first term, he launched the Square Deal, which focused on the control of corporations, the consumer protection, and the conservation of natural resources. In order to achieve his goal of controlling the large corporations and railroad companies, Congress, under Roosevelt s urge, created the Department of Commerce and Labor to monitor corporations, help dissolve monopolies, and promote fair competition between companies. At the same year, Roosevelt initialized the Elkins Act of 1903 to end the practice of railroad granting shipping rebates to certain companies, and three years later, Theodore s administration issued the Hepburn Act, which gave the Interstate Commerce Commission the power to regulate shipping rates on railroads. To me, this poem describes the bottom line of the well known ghetto life . It describes the desperate and what they need, other than the usual what they want, money. Without actually telling us all about the seven young men, it does tell us about them. The poem tells of the men s fears, their ambitions, and who they think they are, versus who they really are. However, as the poem continues, the repeated We is seen not at the beginning, but at the end of each line. This simultaneously displays a certain aspect that was not seen in the first line. It shows certain confusions and distinct uncertainties about the group s identity, or even as an example of protesting too much, whether there s a group identity at all. Who is We that they are so insistent about? Repeated as it is, the We gets smaller and smaller. She is saying that in life it may seem like we , but it all comes to a point where the we gradually starts representing one individual, rather than a whole group. The poet has in fact said that the we is supposed to be read in a small and uncertain way, thus the reason for the unpunctuated we at the end of each line after the initial We in the beginning of the poem. That word kind of becomes a question, as well as a refrain. The unity that was seen in the beginning becomes less and less apparent as the poem continues. Brooks continues the poem saying, We / Left school . Making the hopelessness of this scenario even more obvious. Brooks not only arranges the wording in this poem to show a desperate need, but she speaks of one as well. The fact that these seven young men have no education shows exactly how unpromising their futures are or are going to be if they continue down a path trying to impress each other ... • 42. Defining Fair Punishment The first and greatest punishment of the sinner is the conscience of sin. Lucius Annaeus Seneca What is the purpose of punishment? Ultimately a fair and effective punishment must not only prevent future transgressions, but also teach a valuable life lesson. While some punishments may seem standard: a grounding for breaking curfew, a detention for misbehaving in class, a jail sentence for robbery, not all punishments are so cut and dry. Take the case of Casey Heynes. A video which has since gone viral depicts the March 2011 incident. Ritchard Gale, 12, appears to tease and taunt Casey, 15, and unleash a few unretaliated punches. In response, Casey picks Ritchard up, and slams him to the ground. While Ritchard was relatively physically unscathed in the encounter, Casey could have inflicted quite serious damage. It was revealed through family and witness interviews that Casey was indeed provoked, and had suffered bullying at the hands of classmates for years. Regardless, school and societal rules were broken, and consequences must follow. What then, is a fair punishment? Casey Heynes should receive a four day at home suspension. In addition, he should participate in a bullying prevention group at his school and attend a one day anger management course. This represents a fair punishment, as it acts as a reasonable deterrent, allows Casey to demonstrate remorse, and is reflective of both Casey and Ritchard s feelings. Mr. Rogers exclaims, Doctor doctor! . . . It s the wife, doctor. I can t get her to wake. My God! I can t get her to wake. And and she don t look right to me (Christie 83). This dialogue builds suspense because one person has already died in the story, so the reader is meant to feel worried that another has died. Such worry easily translates to suspense in a mystery novel. In this case, it is because of the previously occurring death and the fear of another that is rooted in the reader s mind, which helps to bring about uncertainty and anxiety. Naturally, this creates a mood change in the reader. Prior to Rogers s frightened exclamation, a murderous dream of the doctor s is being recounted. There, the mood is scared and confused, as the doctor seems to not be mentally sound during the dream. The Dysfunctional Family In The Movie And Ordinary People While there is no one proper way to deal with the death of a child and the attempted suicide of another child, the behaviors of the family members in the aftermath can provide great insight into functioning of the family. In chapter two, Turner and West (2013) discuss the dialectic approach to family communication, and in the film, Ordinary People, we encounter a dysfunctional familythat deals with contradictory impulses that both drive apart and pull together the family. It is useful to analyze the Jarretts from this approach because each member has these impulses that impact their relationship to other members that cause instances of change and stability in the family over time. When we look at the individual family members that comprise this family, we can identify the specific tensions they possess given the behaviors they express. A dialecticthat is present in the case of Conrad is openness/protection in which he struggles between sharing and concealing personal information (Turner West, 2013). We see him dealing with his emotional issues on his own, as he does not tell his parents how he is feeling and, in turn, makes his depression an issue that he will deal with on his with his psychiatrist. However, while he has the impulse to protect his personal thoughts and feelings, he at the same time has the impulse to be open and talk about Buck with his mother while they are in the backyard, which is something that makes Beverly angry.
