The Forecast Of Construction Industry
Forecast of Construction Industry
At the present time, China s government has focused it policies on projects and reforms, offering
China considerable urban infrastructure opportunities. This means that it is expected that China s
expenditures in construction will continue to grow through 2019, powered by an increase in urban
population, continued industrialisation, expanding foreign investment and rising personal income
levels.
In addition to this, the government s effort to sustain growth in the manufacturing sector, improve
the country s infrastructure, expand municipal utilities, and balance regional economic disparity
will help growth in construction spending . (Freedonia).
Despite this, it is predicted that China s further growth may incur a slowdown and could possibly
reach historical lows in the short term, with housing construction registering a decline for the first
time ever (South Morning China Post). Forecasts for the short to medium term future of the market
remain positive as shown below in the table.
Forecasts for selected indicators in China s Construction Sector
Long Term Forecast
Despite China s immense growth throughout the decades, it is projected that the construction
industry will not continue to grow at it s usual peak . As stated by Joe Zhou, (head of research in
China at JLL real estate consultancy), China has passed the peak in terms of construction activity,
l would say the peak was more lie 2013. Last year (2014), we saw

Communism Of The Vietnam War And The Cold War
Communism is an ideology that has a very long history more than one third of the globe. This
ideology is followed by Russia, Cuba, Laos, China, North Korea, and Vietnam. This ideology is the
source of many revolutions and conflicts throughout the history likes the English Civil War, the
Bolshevik Revolution, the Vietnam War, the Korea War and the Cold War. However, what makes
Communismdifferent from other ideologies is its origin, its policy, and its effects on the poor and
the working class.
Communism originated during the Stone Age, at the beginning of our human civilization from
the fourth B. C. as primitive Communism . At that point, everyone had an equal amount of
work. Then it was later being replaced by monarchy and capitalism. Communism has been
mentioned in many books: The Bible, Plato s Republic by Plato, Utopia (1516) by Sir Thomas
More, City of the Sun (1623) by Tommaso Campanella. This ideology also led to the English
Civil War, a rebellion among the poor class (peasant class) and the dominant class. But later being
repressed heavily by the dominant class. After the Industrial Age, the difference between the poor
and the wealthy became clearer, which lead to the rise of modern Communism . According to
Marx, the Father of modern Communism , he used to say: From each according to his ability, to
each according to his need (World History and Cultures). Later on, Marx met Engels. Sharing the
same idea of the injustice among classes, they published The

Father Nicanor Reyna Quotes
21.Father Nicanor Reyna s ability to levitate is another example of magical realism in the novel. It
is written to seem real because the book first describes Father Nicanor s levitation as a trick with a
stool. However, it is revealed to be fantastic because Jose Arcadio Buendia realises the stool rises as
well.

Glastonbury Festival Shortage
A shortage of event loos could scupper your plans You may remember back in 2012, the world
famous Glastonbury festival being cancelled. While the vast majority of people had it put down
to a shortage of police officers due to the London Olympics, the festival organiser Michael Eavis,
also recalls a shortage of portable loo hire being one of the main reasons to shut down the event.
The huge shortage in and around the capital meant a significant lack of event loos everywhere
else. Despite Glastonbury being one of the biggest festivals in the world, alongside the likes of
Coachella in LA and Roskilde in Denmark, they own only half of the mobile loos they actually
need resulting in them needing to hire the rest. As a result of huge demand for them during the
London Olympics however, they were unable to locate any at a reasonable cost and were
inevitably forced to close down the festival. In spite of regularly taking a year off every five or six
years, this unexpected turn of events meant closing the festival earlier than usual and disappointing
their loyal attendees but this doesn t just happen to events... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

huge as the Olympics or a particularly love filled year with a few more weddings than normal and
it s not exactly your bog standard summer (if you ll pardon the pun). As a result, posh loos can

Right Brain Research Paper
The folding of the cortex increases the brain s surface area allowing more neurons to fit inside
the skull and enabling higher functions. Each fold is called a gyrus, and each groove between
folds is called a sulcus. There are names for the folds and grooves that help define specific brain
regions.
Right brain left brain
The right and left hemispheres of the brain are joined by a bundle of fibers called the corpus
callosum that delivers messages from one side to the other. Each hemisphere controls the
opposite side of the body. If a brain tumor is located on the right side of the brain, your left arm or
leg may be weak or paralyzed.
Not all functions of the hemispheres are shared. In general, the left hemisphere controls speech,

Causes Of The Emancipation Proclamation
Many large beliefs are that the Emancipation Proclamation was set forth to end slavery, which is
only partially true. The Proclamation was set forth to undermine the south, which meant disarming
the Confederate rebellion and preventing secession. Lincoln s strategic goal for the Proclamation
was to remove any financial gain from it s now Southern enemy. With slaves now freed in the
South, the war effort was financially at risk. Freed slaves in the South meant funding to supply
weapons, uniforms, rations, and supplies were completely at a halt. Lincoln s vision was to break
the South from the inside to put a complete halt to the South s secession. Allowing slaves to join the
Union army meant an endless supply of troops for the Union. The... Show more content on

Congress eventually took this a step further in 1862, by enacting an article of war that forbid
army personnel from returning slaves to owner s who were using them in the South s war effort.
This step further showed the nation that Lincoln was attempting to make this war not just about
secession, but freedom. During 1862, many Republicans were set in their belief that the war
must now be against slavery and freedom, instead of just secession. Lincoln was forced to walk
on eggshells because while his personal belief was for the war against slavery, he was afraid of
alienating half of the North who were supporting the war against secession. Conflict was raging
during 1862 and Lincoln was starting to feel the pressure to enact the emancipation policy. During
this time, Union armies had been strategically defeated during the summer months, and this policy
would weaken the South. While the policy would weaken the South, the North would grow
enormously in strength. Slaves providing war efforts for the South, would now be fighting against
it by adding loads of manpower to the current struggling North in 1862. There was an argument that
emancipation was a military need because the North was tasting defeat, and reversing the current
position would be only beneficial to the Union. In July of 1862 Congress passed

Robert Frost Ambiguity
The Ambiguity on Robert Frost s The road not chosen
The road not chosen is a beautiful poem written by Robert Frost, which raises the metaphor of life
as a journey in which alternatives force us to choose which path to follow. When we come to a
fork, a crucial point of the journey, we must make a decision. We know that the future will depend
on that choice. We can choose the most traveled road, the one that most people would choose (by
habit or comfort) and therefore , will be easier since the path is marked, or venture down the road
less traveled and build our own path, make our way before the difficulties, face obstacles and
unforeseen events.
The poet walks in the forest, has the option to choose between two roads that fork in a path of a
yellow forest. The poet chooses the least traveled, but thinks about the possibilities that would have
implied having taken the other path, the unelected one. He is aware of the difference, that this
choice and this non choice will be perpetuated in the causal chain of his life. Live this feeling as a
slight feeling of loss, rather than as a full anguish that would be the certainty of its unfathomable
finitude. The poet concludes that he would have taken any path, since they ... Show more content on

present and future with all its potential for expression, since it is attentive to the change in nature,

overturns in life. Robert Frost poetry is more personal and introspective, and in it his mind
becomes the scene of great psychological battles, as if his demons fought against chaos. He also

Pregnant With Pcos
Can I get pregnant with PCOS?
There are many conditions women can develop that will make it harder for them to conceive. One
of the most common condition is PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome. To learn if you are able to
become pregnant when you have this condition, it is first important to learn more about the
condition.
What is it?
PCOS is a condition that creates small cysts on a woman s ovaries. In many instances, these cysts
are developed because a woman s hormones are out of balance. The symptoms that women face
when they have PCOS will vary. For example, some women may develop acne or have trouble
maintaining a healthy weight.
However, one of the most common issues that women face when they have PCOS is struggling to
have a regular menstrual cycle. When you are not able to ovulate regularly, it is extremely difficult
for you to become pregnant. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To do this, you should use either a basal thermometer or an ovulation predictor kit. Both of these
items are extremely easy to use and will help you determine when you are ovulating.
Tracking your ovulation cycle has a couple of different benefits for women who are suffering
from PCOS. First, it helps you to determine if your treatment is working because it will let you
know if you start ovulating. Also, it can help make it easier for you to conceive because you will
know when the best time to have intercourse is. When you test positive for ovulation, you should
begin having intercourse every other day for several days.
Women with PCOS are able to become pregnant fairly frequently. Usually, with treatment, a
woman should be able to become pregnant just as she would without this type of condition.
However, there are some women who are never able to conceive when they have PCOS. The best
way to determine what your specific chances of conceiving are is to talk with your doctor about your

Previous strategies have proved to be ineffective and Nacro has campaigned for the Ministry of
Justice (MOJ) to implement a plan that would see the legislative provision demanding
accountability and constant monitoring of program efficacy. The provision should be that of
inclusive terms, embracing young women and the young black minority ethnic (BAME). For it to
be feasible, both targeted programs, whether in custody or in the community, they have to be
culturally subtle to be able to design person centred programs incorporating individual needs and
aims. Nacro will always refer to the (Harris Review 2015), from which it was concluded that every
young person going through the criminal justice system is susceptible. Also, in the review are
recommendations which state that, by putting young offenders in custody, this should always be
the last action to be taken because the recorded recidivism rates are said to be caused by custodial
sentences. The above sentiments have been welcomed by (Pettersson 2016), who argued that the
young people s narratives are testimony of a failed custodial system and a violation of a vital
developmental path that adolescence inherently nurture desistance. However, the program Beyond

Angela s Ashes, By Frank Mccourt
Suffering, treatment, rehabilitation, and mental and physical illness are just some of the issues
common alcoholics deal with. Aside from those complications, alcoholism has been a
devastating problem, especially in Ireland, for hundreds of years. But who is really feeling the
detrimental effects that most people assume the alcoholics themselves have to deal with?
Ireland is culturally known to be a race of drunks and the long lasting effects due to alcoholic
dependence truly defeats not just the alcoholics, but their families lives as well. The Irish have
been said to be the most successful and accomplished immigrant group in the United States.
(BCS) Their hard work and determination however, is lost within their alcohol dependence.
Providing for a family can be extremely challenging when there is a lack of money within the
family. In the memoir Angela s Ashes, written by Frank McCourt, Frank lives a scare life due to
his Ireland born father Malachy s, drinking problem. His problem caused an extreme level of
deprivation within his family of money, food, sufficient clothing, etc. (FM) This scenario wasn t
just prevalent in the McCourt family, but in many families throughout the entire country of
Ireland, as shown in the memoir. Families suffered living in the same poor conditions as the
Mccourt s due to drinking problems and alcohol dependency. It is also hard for this cycle to be

Taking a Look Inside Hallucinogens Essay
Hallucinogens: a general group of pharmacological agents that can be divided into three broad
categories: psychedelics, dissociatives, and deliriants. Hallucinogenic drugs have played a role in
civilization for thousands of year. It began with naturally occurring hallucinogens, such as the
peyote cactus plant and wild mushrooms. Now there are man made drugs that have the same or
more intense affects. These include lysergic acid diethylamide(LSD), MDMA (ecstasy), and
dextromethorphan (DMX, often found in cough syrup). Within this essay, I will cover the history,
production, and affects of hallucinogenic drugs. Peyote, a naturally produced plant, has been used

Long term affects for hallucinogens can vary. With LSD, it is believed that trips can trigger the
onset of schizophrenia or other psychological disorders. Users can also experience flashbacks,
happening as long as a year later than the original trip. The flashbacks sometimes persist,
affecting the users social and occupational life. This is known as hallucinogen induced persisting
perceptual disorder. LSD is not considered an addictive drug, since most users voluntarily stop
use over time, and it does not produce compulsive, drug seeking behavior. But, LSD does produce
tolerance. After using the drug only a few times, users must take increasingly higher doses to reach
the same high. This is very dangerous, given the drugs unpredictability. Let s talk specifics: LSD.
Lysergic acid diethylamide was first synthesized by Albert Hofman in Switzerland, 1938. He didn

years later. In 1943, Hofman accidently ingested the substance and discovered its potency. Rewind

Is Golf A Sport Essay
People keep wondering if golf is a sport, and the answer is yes. This is true for three reasons.Pro
golfers are considered athletes by many people, physical training helps with a golfers

an athlete is someone who plays some sort of sportso that technically makes golfa sport. Now lets
get into some detail to why golf should be considered a real sport.
The first reason why golf should be considered a sport is because many people call pro golfers
athletes. An example of this would be, The associated press has named a golfer as its female
athlete of the year 24 times ( https://golf.procon.org/ ).If she plays golf and has been named
female athlete of the year, then that makes her an athlete which makes golf a real sport.Another
example from them is, Golfer Tiger Woods is the richest athlete in history and was the first

the fact that there is no compact vegetation on this farm, the chances of a larger runoff are higher.

Analysis Of Andrew Jackson s The White House Essay
Andrew Jackson once said, Take time to deliberate; but when the time for action arrives, stop

Essay On Endogenous Modulation Of Pain
Second, this study also provides supporting evidence for endogenous modulation of pain based on
fc changes compared cLBP in different pain condition with HC and within cLBP. Substantial
evidence is accumulating to show that the striatum plays an important role in the endogenous
modulation of pain.
Published data provide evidence that the limbic system is essential to chronic pain processing59.
The NAc is a critical node in this network. Functional interactions between component structures in
the limbic system are wide ranging. Previous studies show that the nucleus accumbens (NAc) is
extensively anatomically connected with cortical areas including cingulate, prefrontal cortex,

Therefore, some previous studies hypothesized that these brain regions, especially within the
emotional corticolimbic system, acted as the bridge of pain modulation and stress regulation5.
In practice, research on the emotional brain has often focused on a few structures thought to be
central to this type of processing hypothalamus, amygdala, insula, and so on. However, chronic pain
frequently coexists with other disorders such as anxiety, depression, or learning and memory
deficits. This co occurrence might manifest if chronic pain were to precipitate neuroplastic changes
in supra spinal structures, such as amygdala, that lead to these pain related disorders.
We also found the bilateral VSs, DC, DCP and DRP had significantly overlay increased
connectivity with the right DLPFC in cLBP in HP compared with cLBP in LP.
The bilateral DCP and DRP had significantly overlay increased connectivity with the right insular
cortex and ACC in cLBP in HP compared with cLBP in LP.
The above mentioned dorsal and ventral striatum, amygdala, anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), the
anterior insular and the orbitofrontal cortex are all implicated in reward as well as pain processing.
Recent experimental data suggest that basal ganglia may also be involved in various dimensions of
pain sensation and pain experience 69. So far, there

Pros And Cons Of Electronic Communication
Pros and Cons of Electronic communication
There are many species in the world, however, human is the only one who can talk, understand,
think and act according to his own wish. This means human is the only species who can
communicate with other humans. Thus, communication plays a vital part in human life. In simple
terms, communication is effectively interacting with each other. Defining communication, it can be
the process by which people exchange information or express their thoughts and feelings (Longman
Dictionary, 2011). Some of the earlier methods used for communication have been visual and audio
in the form of gestures, sound and pictures/drawings. Technology today has transformed these
sounds and gestures to produce speech, videos, films, posters and theatre. The evolution of different
means has opened up a vast potential for communication (unesco.org).
Discussing the types of communications, the types are verbal and non verbal. Non verbal can
further be classified into oral, written, and sign language. Oral communication can be face to face
or by using the electronic media. The communication done by using electronic medium is called
electronic communication. The type of electronic media available now a days are mobiles, internet,
radio, television, emails, fax etc. These media are in tremendous use in today s world. Emails,
mobiles, internet have become a necessity for living. There is no easy access to things without an
electronic media.

Eustachian Tube Dysfunction
Eustachian Tube Dysfunction The eustachian tube connects the middle ear to the back of the nose.
It regulates air pressure in the middle ear by allowing air to move between the ear and nose. It also
helps to drain fluid from the middle ear space. When the eustachian tube does not function properly,
air pressure, fluid, or both can build up in the middle ear. This is often caused by a blockage in the
tube. Eustachian tube dysfunction can affect one or both ears. CAUSES Eustachian tube
dysfunction happens when the tube becomes blocked or cannot open normally. This may result
from: Ear infections. Colds and other upper respiratory infections. Allergies. Irritation, such as
cigarette smoke or acid from the stomach coming up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
TREATMENT Treatment depends on the cause and severity of your condition. If your
symptoms are mild, you may be able to relieve your symptoms by chewing gum or popping your
ears. If you have symptoms of fluid in your ears, treatment may include: Decongestants.
Antihistamines. Antibiotic medicine. Nasal sprays or ear drops that contain medicines that
reduce swelling (steroids). In some cases, you may need to have a procedure to drain the fluid in
your eardrum (myringotomy). In this procedure, a small tube is placed in the eardrum to: Drain
the fluid. Restore the air in the middle ear space. HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS If you were
prescribed antibiotic medicine, take it as told by your health care provider. Do not stop taking
the antibiotic even if your condition improves. If you were prescribed antibiotic ear drops, use
them as told by your health care provider. Do not stop using the drops even if your condition

The North American Industry Classification System Essay
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is the standard used by Federal
statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting,
analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy. (North American
Industry Classification System, n.d.). NAICS is a 2 through 6 digit hierarchical classification
system, offering five levels of detail. Each digit in the code is part of a series of progressively
narrower categories, and the more digits in the code signify greater classification detail. The first
two digits name the economic sector, the third digit designates the subsector, the fourth digit
designates the industry group, the fifth digit designates the NAICS industry, and the sixth digit
designates the national industry. The 5 digit NAICS code is the level at which there is
comparability in code and definitions for most of the NAICS sectors across the three countries
participating in NAICS (the United States, Canada, and Mexico). The 6 digit level allows for the
United States, Canada, and Mexico each to have country specific detail. A complete and valid
NAICS code has six digits (North American Industry Classification System, n.d.).

The Other Side Of The River By Alex Kotlowitz

Twin Cities, Twin Races Reading the book, The Other Side of the River, by Alex Kotlowitz, the
author writes about the relationship between two towns in Michigan, and the death of a young boy
named Eric McGinnis. The two towns, Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, are called the Twin Cities ,
but are ironically not related in any way. St. Joseph is 95 percent white, while Benton Harbor is
impoverished and is 92 percent black. Throughout the book Kotlowitz questions the residents
from both towns and how they are affected by the environment around them. The author also
starts with the climax on the first page of the book the death of Eric, and uses this as an
technique to tell the story of the disagreements between the two towns. With the murder of Eric,
Kotlowitz identifies the climax at the beginning of the book and how it has been affecting the
two towns which are physically only two and a half miles apart, and the river that flows between
them only being a quarter of a mile wide. St. Joseph is a rich area while Benton Harbor is in
poverty. This is relevant to the state of Michigan because many bodies of people migrate to
certain regions of the state and are easily divided by different cultures and beliefs. Even with a
small river providing the gap between these two regions, Michigan is known for its divided groups
of people. With this division, the death of Eric with his drowning in the river resided

Analysis of Characters in Ugly American by by Burdick and...
The next character I will mention is Honorable Gilbert MacWhite, who replaced Ambassador Sears
in Sarkhan. This character functioned in complete contrast to Sears. He understood the sensitivity
of the US mission in Sarkhan and how vulnerable the Sarkhanese government was to potential
communist influences. He also understood the communist threat and did not underestimate it.
MacWhite s understandingof the operational environment was clear from the beginning and made
constant efforts in understanding the people of Sarkhan.
MacWhite arrived in Sarkhan well versed on the customs, language, and threats faced by the
country; this aided him in everything that followed through his tour. Understanding the operational

Finally, MacWhite understood the need for legitimacy across the country and this became very
evident in his constant search for individuals who can provide a means for the Sarkhaneese to
develop the country by themselves. An example that comes to mind from the story is when he
talked to Atkins in order to develop a way for the people of Sarkhan to transfer water from the
river, uphill, to the rice paddies. The ability he provided to ensure attainable resources were
available to the common people legitimized the active concern of the USG towards the country as a
whole. What I believe made the legitimate action in this case was not the machine which was not
completed at this point but the legitimate concern of the Ambassador.
As depicted in the above paragraphs, MacWhite displayed three Special Operation Imperatives in a
clear manner: understanding the operational environment, anticipating long term effects, and
ensuring legitimacy and credibility. I agree that other imperatives such as operating with and
through others and ensuring long term sustainment could also be added to the list, but I wanted to
provide a contrast to the actions of Sears and those of MacWhite. His proactive and constant search
to understand the operational environment gave MacWhite the tools to better

College Athletes Should Be Allowed In College
In high school my coaches always preached, Academics are a priority and athletics are a privilege.
I believe this statement is true from a high school standpoint, but from a college standpoint, that is
absolutely wrong. The reason I say this is because here at Midland University, you acquire either
an academic or athletic scholarship. If you only have an athletic scholarship, your main priority in
collegeis your sport, right? This lead me to the question, do I want to continue being a track athlete
in two years? What exactly is Midland Universitytrying to promote by only allowing an athletic or
academic scholarship? I believe they are promoting that whatever you choose needs to be your
priority. I find that unfair because if a student with an academic scholarship gets burnt out, they
simply drop out, but what happens to a student athlete if they get burnt out? Will they ultimately
revoke the student athlete s scholarship? Every college athlete at Midland University must hope
that their love for their sport never runs out, because if their love runs out, they ultimately might be
without a scholarship. Midland University s decision on if they would honor my scholarship would

We Didn t Start The Fire, By Billy Joel
There is no denying that over a multitude of years, music has inevitably found ways to challenge
power and power structures around the world. Music has found a way to use not only lyrics, but
also the gender of musicians and genres of music to oppose powerful entities. Throughout music s
long lived history, lyrics have been the most obvious example of musical oppositions to power.
Music and songs have been created to protest wars, raise awareness to violence, express pride in
one s raceand culture, and challenge political forums, only to name a few examples. For
example, We Didn t Start the Fire by Billy Joel was created to oppose United States involvement
in the Vietnam War, along with raising awareness of both drug and race problems in America.
Furthermore, lyrics are a way in which an artist or composer can specifically tailor a message to
explicitly state their take on a given institution or outlet of power. On the other hand, lyrics have
also been used in a coded fashion to indirectly attack structures of power rather than explicitly
attacking structure of power, which has been proven useful in times of serious civil oppression.
Lyrics tell a story, and historically singers and songwriters have used them in a multitude of ways to
construct a variety of messages that have challenged societal norms and structures of power.
Additionally, there is no denying that the gender of the composer or artist plays a critical role in
challenging power dynamics. Female artists

distribute the product, the LEGO Group will be communicating to a large and diverse
demographic, this establishing relationships outside their normal target audience, thus leading to
national attention and goodwill for the brand (Kotler and Lee, 2005:152). According to Peattie
(1992) organisations can create competitive advantage by going green. However the LEGO
Group do not market their green credentials. On product packaging there is no evidence of any

South Asian And Indian Societies
Long distance trades played a major role in economic, cultural and religious exchanges that took
place between major civilizations in Europe, Africa and Asia during the pre modern period.
Chinese, West Asian and Indian societies were the first ones to develop major transportation
networks. A few examples of such important trade routes are The Silk Route, The Trans Saharan
Caravan Trade in Africa and the maritime Spice Route. The Silk Road is the most famous trade
network in the world and its complex links across Eurasia is considered the first example of
globalization. The network exchanged not only commercial goods but also elements of
civilization such as art, religion, philosophy, technology and science therefore it was considered
a cultural bridge between Asia and Europe. The Silk Road (130 BCE to 1453 CE) consisted of
links of trade routes of about 7000 kilometers, established during the Han Dynasty of China and it
is considered the major economic achievement of this Dynasty. The Han empire was constantly

Comparing Dorian Gray And Heart Of Darkness
According to principles explained by Jacques Derrida, binary opposition is the means by which
the units of language have value or meaning; each unit is defined in reciprocal determination
with another term. Derrida adds that, for each center, an opposing center exists (Bressler, 110).
For example, we know truth, because we know deception; we know good because we know bad
(Bressler, 111). Joseph Conrad and Oscar Wilde s use of the binary oppositionof light/dark within
The Picture of Dorian Gray and Heart of Darkness establishes both racial and class tension by
contrasting a superior concept with its inferior. In The Picture of Dorian Gray, setting plays a
major role in displaying class differences within the novel. Darker imagery is used to portray the
East End, or the lower class part of London, while the West End is described as wealthy and
cultured. For example, as Dorian travels through the East End, the chapter begins with, A cold
rain began to fall, and the blurred street lamps looked ghastly in the dripping mist (Wilde, 176).
Further, Wilde uses more dark images to create the scene of the East End. He states, The moon
hung low in the sky like a yellow skull... the gas lamps grew fewer, and the streets more narrow
and gloomy (Wilde, 177). The description of the East End strongly opposes the description of the

Symbolism Of The Arnold Friend
There is a point in the adolescence of a child in which they encounter a fork, that can lead one of
two ways. The path they end up on is determined by their personal feelings toward the world, the
way they have been raised, and who they want to become in the future. In the short story titled,
Where are you going where have you been this point is explicitly expressed in the title alone. One
of the interpretations of this short storyis that a man named Arnold Friend liberated a young
rebellious girl, Connie, from the torment of her youth. However, in reality the audience is eluded to
the symbolism that Connie is being pulled away from her golden innocenceand into the arms of
Satan himself. Arnold Friend exhibits Satanic traits, and on this symbolic level, a young girl
being stripped from her childhood, and into an unforgiving world. The story reveals that Arnold
Friend is no boy or friend, he is referred to as a devillike character. As the story progresses, signs are
observed that highlight the rebellious girl as she sneaks out, omits information from her parents
and is sucked into the teenage culture of the time. One Sunday Connie s family woke up and, none
of them bothered with church (Oates), Sunday, in religious settings is historically the Lords Day.
Oates isolates this sentence with dashes to set it apart from the rest of the story, foreshadowing the
future satanic references. These dashes are used to symbolize that this Sunday takes a strange turn,

Our dark ideas can sometimes lead us to choose the way things are perceived, the unquestioned

French authors and playwrights have been acclaimed worldwide for their dynamic prose, complex
situations, and unpredictable endings. The same praises hold true for Edmond Eugene Alexis
Rostand. Born of Provencal ancestry on April 1, 1868, Rostand was well learned, as evidenced by
his extensive childhood education as a student of the lycee of Marseille. His father was a
prominent member of the Marseille Academy. As a direct result of this high influence, Rostand

In many ways, the character Cyrano differs from the actual hero. For instance, the real Cyrano was
born in Paris, whereas the fictitious Cyrano was born in Gascony. However, it must not be
forgotten that, in other ways, both characters are strikingly similar. Based on Cyrano de Bergerac,
and putting aside the real Cyrano, Rostand combined traditional romanticism with a touch of his
own Rostandism.
Cyrano de Bergerac, the novel, is set in the 1600s (Goldstein 485), and it vividly tells the story
of Cyrano, a successful swordsman, poet, philosopher, and playwright all rolled up into one. His
only flaw is his long, unattractive nose, a topic to which Cyrano is very sensitive (Marlowe

In addition, they claim that their product will result in the elimination of panic attacks, a reversal
of the aging process, and rapid healing of wounds and broken bones. The presentation of scientific
information before the sales pitch seemingly increases the credibility of the company with the
customer. They quote Dr. William Regelson, who uses hormone therapy in his work, as saying, it
has some amazing powers, but its benefits must be carefully weighed against its costs and potential
side effects. He also states that a product may eventually be available that provides all the benefits,

These web sites are all created by companies trying to sell something. They are not going to

is why it is important to review scientific data when thinking about starting a new, possibly
controversial, dietary supplement. Researchers and doctors are much more biased when examining
a product than a group that has a stake in the possible positive or negative results. The purpose of
research is to inform the public, not sell

Comparing the Application of Integrated Marketing...
During the last decade of the twentieth century, the concept of integrated marketing
communications (IMC) received considerable attention from practitioners and academics alike, and
that interest has continued into the new millennium (e.g., Bearden and Madden 1996; Cornelissen
and Lock 2000; Duncan, Schultz, and Patti 2005; Garretson and Burton 2005; Nowak and Phelps
1994; Schultz and Kitchen 2000a; Schumann, Artis, and Rivera 2001). As the marketplace has
become more fragmented over the years, organizations have embraced IMC as a means to
effectively and efficiently target and attract the splintering mass market through the transmission of
a unified message across all contact points between organizations and their consumers. Whether the

For instance, an ad that contains a direct response tool (e.g., a coupon), a public relations appeal
(e.g., support of an esteemed social cause), and brand advertising (e.g., depiction and description of
the offering) would reflect the integrated communication form of IMC. A key outcome of this
approach is the acquisition of consumer information that is captured when consumers respond to
direct response tools, sales promotions, and the like (Nowak and Phelps 1994).
The one voice approach reflects a firm s focus on a single positioning strategy that emphasizes
unity among brand/ image advertising, direct response advertising, public relations, and consumer
sales promotions at the outset of a promotional campaign (Reilly 1991; Snyder 1991). In this
approach, the position, message, or theme is what ultimately guides an organization s IMC
decisions, which ostensibly could be rendered independently by the firm s advertising, public
relations, and sales promotion agencies (Nowak and Phelps 1994).
The third approach, coordinated marketing communication campaigns, stresses the need to
integrate the activities of different marketing communication disciplines (e.g., sales promotions,
advertising, and public relations) in

Shoot For The Moon Analysis
As the anonymous saying goes, Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you land amongst the
stars. My parents influenced me in many ways as a child, but one of the most significant lessons
they ever taught to their children was to never set the standard bars for themselves. As a young
girl, I always recognized that the only limits were the ones you created in your mind. In a
metaphorical sense, I learned that rocket ships were made for launching beyond the boundaries
in the atmosphere enclosing me. Looking back on life, at the age of 44, I know for a fact that
my life has been successful almost solely because of this outlook on life. Throughout the time in
which I have grown to become Kylie Gifis, I have always dreamt past limits and pursued my
passions with determination. As a middle schooler, I viewed my personality to be inquisitive,
friendly, clever, and creative. My hobbies were theater, drawing/painting, piano, soccer, and
writing. In all aspects of my profession and education, I have exemplified this basis of my
personality, always pursuing what interested me and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I, being 44 and having a family of my own, plan to continue my career as a novelist and follow my
passion for film. I hope that within the next thirty years of my time working that I will, at some

include immersing myself into the world of motivational speaking, most likely for my Big
Dreams Small People campaign. I have always been interested in teaching and motivational
speaking, so I want to check the boxes of all of my passions before my time is up. I can see myself,
when retired, spending most of my time traveling the world to find new places and experience
new cultures. When I m older, my main goal will be to look back on the life I have created for
myself and know deep down, that I pushed all of my limits and rocketed into outer

A Modern Twist on Classical Renunciation
A Modern Twist on Classical Renunciation
Hinduism is a vast and very complex religion to comprehend and consists of various different
branches of philosophies. Although it is considered that Hinduism does not necessarily have one
text that provides the guidelines for the contemporary Hindu devotee, like the Bible does for
Christians, but there are a few scriptures that help identify the ultimate goal for the followers of
Hinduism. The Upanishads try to exemplify the message of obtaining the righteous path as much as
possible with rooting its context to the most ancient Hindu text, the Vedas. Tying both of these
scriptures together the main purpose of a practicing Hindu is laid out; which is being able to obtain
moksha, or liberation, from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though accepting the Advaita Vedanta means that there is no classification of male or
female amongst people, it still sets a barrier for women because according to the
Dharmasharstras, women were unfit to learn Vedic rituals and studies which are key
requirements of sannyasa (Khandelwal 2004: 37). Herein lies the most significant deviation from
the classical perspective of renunciation in modernity; most contemporary female renouncers,
also referred to as sannyasinis, have broken out of a tradition that is characterized by the
renunciation of rituals. They therefore have effectively redefined renunciation on their own
terms. Like most classical renouncers, sannyasinis also build vairgya and have completely
detachment from worldly materials. But unlike the classical renunciation where a renouncer
would go off to the forest and be by himself, the modern day female renouncers have become
more involved in social activism (Khandelwal 2004: 49). This is a clear alteration from the
classical renouncer because now the female renouncers are participating in a form of actions
which is still continue their cycle of karma, whereas the end goal is to stop exactly that according
to the classical practices. In Khandelwal s book Women in Ochre Robes, she uses various examples
of how different women are using types of social activism throughout their practices.

The Devil And Daniel Webster Analysis
Most citizens have never thought about the devil who captures the souls of the dead. In the short
story, The Devil and Daniel Webster , by Stephen Vincent Benet is about a devil who captures
the souls of the dead. Jabez Stones is a male who lived in Cross Corners, New Hampshire.
Throughout Jabez Stone s life, Jabez Stone was an unfortunate man. If Jabez planted corn, he
would get borers; if Jabez planted potatoes on his land, he would get blight. Since Jabez Stone was
an unfortunate man, Jabez had good enough land that did not prosper him. When Jabez Stone has
enough of his unfortunate life, Jabez sold his soul to the devil. When the day got darker, Jabez Stone

Comparison Of Warren Prior And Richard Cory
Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson, and Warren Prior by Alden Nowlan are both poems
which discuss the unhappiness people tend to hide about themselves. In these poems, irony is used
to show how each persona is deeply unsatisfied with the circumstances they face although appearing
different to their peers. To begin with, Richard Coryis about a man named Richard Cory who is
notorious for being wealthy and seemingly has the type of lifestyle others would envy. However,
what was seen on the surface was deceiving, because at the end of the poem we learn that Cory
commits suicide. Likewise, Warren Prior is about a male who grew up on a farm where his parents
worked extremely hard in order to be able to afford an education for their... Show more content on

In both poems, we see irony used as a device to bring emphasis to the theme of the poem. For
example, in Richard Cory the townsfolk absolutely adored Cory, and [they] wished [they] were
in his place. But, this was due to the fact that the townsfolk only viewed the exterior of Cory and
saw that he was clean favoured. As well, the townsfolk were well aware that Cory was richer
than a king. However, they were not aware of the true feelings Cory carried as they focused on
materialistic properties rather than personality traits. Thus, being a case of situational irony as
most would expect someone with great wealth to be content with their life. Moving on, in
Warren Pryor irony is shown within the son s relationship with his parents. The parents of the
son grew up poor on a farm and simply wanted a better life for their son, so they worked
extremely hard to send him to school and free him from the stony fields. Despite the great efforts
the parents went through to watch their son receive an education, the son himself was throttled
[with] rage. This is because the son enjoyed his life on the farm and had a knack for it as well, as
his axe hewn hands were not made to work in a

Examples Of Rebirth In Phoenix Jackson
How Phoenix Jackson Represents Rebirth and Immortality When reading the colorful story
Worn Path by Eudora Welty, her many descriptions bringing life to what would have been a
desolated America during the Great Depression. Phoenix Jackson, main character, herself even
becoming something to examine and study, as well as the characters and environment she
encounters. Phoenix Jackson embarks on a journey to retrieve medicine for her sick grandson.
Phoenix Jackson is described first as old African American woman. When given her description
of herself (outfit and features), personality, and her many struggles to retrieve medicine, can
been seen as rebirth or immortality, as well as describing America and it s future after
depression. Phoenix Jackson s body, that is described, and her ethnicity are worth studying. At
this time in history, the nineteen thirties, being a woman and African American were both
downsides to what would have been desired: Caucasian and male. Phoenix Jackson s skin tone is
also described very differently as well, with patches of multi skin tone with blue rage eyes
(288). At first it is another noteworthy description, but when view deeper it could represent
multiple things. Like many rebirthing that of a phoenix (mythical bird, that rebirth in a fireball,
and reborns from their ashes) goes through, signifying her treacherous journey and obstacles
overcome. It also can be used to show the diversity of not just her, but of America, where
everyone old, sick, poor, no matter of race suffering all together. Phoenix Jackson wrinkles on
her face, described as a tree roots, where tree sported in the middle of her face. Then even goes
as far as telling us that gold underlining around her wrinkles and forehead, a color commonly
associated with phoenix colors (usually represented as gold and red). Which explains her red
rag that she wears around her head. Like that of a phoenix, she herself is draped like one. From
Phoenix s scalp to her golden wrinkles. The personality of Phoenix Jackson is that as one of a mad
hatter. Perfectly sane when things are in her sight, but with a vivid imagination many things come
to life. The scarecrow, that she saw as a flapping ghost, only to realize after

  • 2. The Forecast Of Construction Industry Forecast of Construction Industry At the present time, China s government has focused it policies on projects and reforms, offering China considerable urban infrastructure opportunities. This means that it is expected that China s expenditures in construction will continue to grow through 2019, powered by an increase in urban population, continued industrialisation, expanding foreign investment and rising personal income levels. In addition to this, the government s effort to sustain growth in the manufacturing sector, improve the country s infrastructure, expand municipal utilities, and balance regional economic disparity will help growth in construction spending . (Freedonia). Despite this, it is predicted that China s further growth may incur a slowdown and could possibly reach historical lows in the short term, with housing construction registering a decline for the first time ever (South Morning China Post). Forecasts for the short to medium term future of the market remain positive as shown below in the table. Forecasts for selected indicators in China s Construction Sector Long Term Forecast Despite China s immense growth throughout the decades, it is projected that the construction industry will not continue to grow at it s usual peak . As stated by Joe Zhou, (head of research in China at JLL real estate consultancy), China has passed the peak in terms of construction activity, l would say the peak was more lie 2013. • 3. Communism Of The Vietnam War And The Cold War Communism is an ideology that has a very long history more than one third of the globe. This ideology is followed by Russia, Cuba, Laos, China, North Korea, and Vietnam. This ideology is the source of many revolutions and conflicts throughout the history likes the English Civil War, the Bolshevik Revolution, the Vietnam War, the Korea War and the Cold War. However, what makes Communismdifferent from other ideologies is its origin, its policy, and its effects on the poor and the working class. Communism originated during the Stone Age, at the beginning of our human civilization from the fourth B. C. as primitive Communism . At that point, everyone had an equal amount of work. Then it was later being replaced by monarchy and capitalism. Communism has been mentioned in many books: The Bible, Plato s Republic by Plato, Utopia (1516) by Sir Thomas More, City of the Sun (1623) by Tommaso Campanella. This ideology also led to the English Civil War, a rebellion among the poor class (peasant class) and the dominant class. But later being repressed heavily by the dominant class. After the Industrial Age, the difference between the poor and the wealthy became clearer, which lead to the rise of modern Communism . According to Marx, the Father of modern Communism , he used to say: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need (World History and Cultures). Later on, Marx met Engels. Sharing the same idea of the injustice among classes, they published The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Glastonbury Festival Shortage A shortage of event loos could scupper your plans You may remember back in 2012, the world famous Glastonbury festival being cancelled. While the vast majority of people had it put down to a shortage of police officers due to the London Olympics, the festival organiser Michael Eavis, also recalls a shortage of portable loo hire being one of the main reasons to shut down the event. The huge shortage in and around the capital meant a significant lack of event loos everywhere else. Despite Glastonbury being one of the biggest festivals in the world, alongside the likes of Coachella in LA and Roskilde in Denmark, they own only half of the mobile loos they actually need resulting in them needing to hire the rest. As a result of huge demand for them during the London Olympics however, they were unable to locate any at a reasonable cost and were inevitably forced to close down the festival. In spite of regularly taking a year off every five or six years, this unexpected turn of events meant closing the festival earlier than usual and disappointing their loyal attendees but this doesn t just happen to events... • 7. Causes Of The Emancipation Proclamation Many large beliefs are that the Emancipation Proclamation was set forth to end slavery, which is only partially true. The Proclamation was set forth to undermine the south, which meant disarming the Confederate rebellion and preventing secession. Lincoln s strategic goal for the Proclamation was to remove any financial gain from it s now Southern enemy. With slaves now freed in the South, the war effort was financially at risk. Freed slaves in the South meant funding to supply weapons, uniforms, rations, and supplies were completely at a halt. Lincoln s vision was to break the South from the inside to put a complete halt to the South s secession. Allowing slaves to join the Union army meant an endless supply of troops for the Union. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Congress eventually took this a step further in 1862, by enacting an article of war that forbid army personnel from returning slaves to owner s who were using them in the South s war effort. This step further showed the nation that Lincoln was attempting to make this war not just about secession, but freedom. During 1862, many Republicans were set in their belief that the war must now be against slavery and freedom, instead of just secession. Lincoln was forced to walk on eggshells because while his personal belief was for the war against slavery, he was afraid of alienating half of the North who were supporting the war against secession. Conflict was raging during 1862 and Lincoln was starting to feel the pressure to enact the emancipation policy. During this time, Union armies had been strategically defeated during the summer months, and this policy would weaken the South. While the policy would weaken the South, the North would grow enormously in strength. Slaves providing war efforts for the South, would now be fighting against it by adding loads of manpower to the current struggling North in 1862. There was an argument that emancipation was a military need because the North was tasting defeat, and reversing the current position would be only beneficial to the Union. • 8. Robert Frost Ambiguity The Ambiguity on Robert Frost s The road not chosen The road not chosen is a beautiful poem written by Robert Frost, which raises the metaphor of life as a journey in which alternatives force us to choose which path to follow. When we come to a fork, a crucial point of the journey, we must make a decision. We know that the future will depend on that choice. We can choose the most traveled road, the one that most people would choose (by habit or comfort) and therefore , will be easier since the path is marked, or venture down the road less traveled and build our own path, make our way before the difficulties, face obstacles and unforeseen events. The poet walks in the forest, has the option to choose between two roads that fork in a path of a yellow forest. The poet chooses the least traveled, but thinks about the possibilities that would have implied having taken the other path, the unelected one. He is aware of the difference, that this choice and this non choice will be perpetuated in the causal chain of his life. Live this feeling as a slight feeling of loss, rather than as a full anguish that would be the certainty of its unfathomable finitude. The poet concludes that he would have taken any path, since they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Robert Frost poetry is more personal and introspective, and in it his mind becomes the scene of great psychological battles, as if his demons fought against chaos. Previous strategies have proved to be ineffective and Nacro has campaigned for the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) to implement a plan that would see the legislative provision demanding accountability and constant monitoring of program efficacy. The provision should be that of inclusive terms, embracing young women and the young black minority ethnic (BAME). For it to be feasible, both targeted programs, whether in custody or in the community, they have to be culturally subtle to be able to design person centred programs incorporating individual needs and aims. Nacro will always refer to the (Harris Review 2015), from which it was concluded that every young person going through the criminal justice system is susceptible. Also, in the review are recommendations which state that, by putting young offenders in custody, this should always be the last action to be taken because the recorded recidivism rates are said to be caused by custodial sentences. The above sentiments have been welcomed by (Pettersson 2016), who argued that the young people s narratives are testimony of a failed custodial system and a violation of a vital developmental path that adolescence inherently nurture desistance. • 11. Angela s Ashes, By Frank Mccourt Suffering, treatment, rehabilitation, and mental and physical illness are just some of the issues common alcoholics deal with. Aside from those complications, alcoholism has been a devastating problem, especially in Ireland, for hundreds of years. But who is really feeling the detrimental effects that most people assume the alcoholics themselves have to deal with? Ireland is culturally known to be a race of drunks and the long lasting effects due to alcoholic dependence truly defeats not just the alcoholics, but their families lives as well. The Irish have been said to be the most successful and accomplished immigrant group in the United States. (BCS) Their hard work and determination however, is lost within their alcohol dependence. Providing for a family can be extremely challenging when there is a lack of money within the family. In the memoir Angela s Ashes, written by Frank McCourt, Frank lives a scare life due to his Ireland born father Malachy s, drinking problem. His problem caused an extreme level of deprivation within his family of money, food, sufficient clothing, etc. (FM) This scenario wasn t just prevalent in the McCourt family, but in many families throughout the entire country of Ireland, as shown in the memoir. Hallucinogenic drugs have played a role in civilization for thousands of year. It began with naturally occurring hallucinogens, such as the peyote cactus plant and wild mushrooms. Now there are man made drugs that have the same or more intense affects. These include lysergic acid diethylamide(LSD), MDMA (ecstasy), and dextromethorphan (DMX, often found in cough syrup). With LSD, it is believed that trips can trigger the onset of schizophrenia or other psychological disorders. Users can also experience flashbacks, happening as long as a year later than the original trip. The flashbacks sometimes persist, affecting the users social and occupational life. This is known as hallucinogen induced persisting perceptual disorder. LSD is not considered an addictive drug, since most users voluntarily stop use over time, and it does not produce compulsive, drug seeking behavior. But, LSD does produce tolerance. After using the drug only a few times, users must take increasingly higher doses to reach the same high. This is very dangerous, given the drugs unpredictability. Let s talk specifics: LSD. Lysergic acid diethylamide was first synthesized by Albert Hofman in Switzerland, 1938. He didn t originally find anything interesting about the substance, but changed his mind about it a few years later. In 1943, Hofman accidently ingested the substance and discovered its potency. Substantial evidence is accumulating to show that the striatum plays an important role in the endogenous modulation of pain. Published data provide evidence that the limbic system is essential to chronic pain processing59. The NAc is a critical node in this network. Functional interactions between component structures in the limbic system are wide ranging. Therefore, some previous studies hypothesized that these brain regions, especially within the emotional corticolimbic system, acted as the bridge of pain modulation and stress regulation5. In practice, research on the emotional brain has often focused on a few structures thought to be central to this type of processing hypothalamus, amygdala, insula, and so on. However, chronic pain frequently coexists with other disorders such as anxiety, depression, or learning and memory deficits. This co occurrence might manifest if chronic pain were to precipitate neuroplastic changes in supra spinal structures, such as amygdala, that lead to these pain related disorders. We also found the bilateral VSs, DC, DCP and DRP had significantly overlay increased connectivity with the right DLPFC in cLBP in HP compared with cLBP in LP. The bilateral DCP and DRP had significantly overlay increased connectivity with the right insular cortex and ACC in cLBP in HP compared with cLBP in LP. The above mentioned dorsal and ventral striatum, amygdala, anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), the anterior insular and the orbitofrontal cortex are all implicated in reward as well as pain processing. The Other Side Of The River By Alex Kotlowitz Tiefenbach 1 Benjamin Tiefenbach Professor Ned Watts IAH 207 17 March 2015 Twin Cities, Twin Races Reading the book, The Other Side of the River, by Alex Kotlowitz, the author writes about the relationship between two towns in Michigan, and the death of a young boy named Eric McGinnis. The two towns, Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, are called the Twin Cities , but are ironically not related in any way. St. Joseph is 95 percent white, while Benton Harbor is impoverished and is 92 percent black. Throughout the book Kotlowitz questions the residents from both towns and how they are affected by the environment around them. The author also starts with the climax on the first page of the book the death of Eric, and uses this as an technique to tell the story of the disagreements between the two towns. With the murder of Eric, Kotlowitz identifies the climax at the beginning of the book and how it has been affecting the two towns which are physically only two and a half miles apart, and the river that flows between them only being a quarter of a mile wide. St. Joseph is a rich area while Benton Harbor is in poverty. This is relevant to the state of Michigan because many bodies of people migrate to certain regions of the state and are easily divided by different cultures and beliefs. Music has found a way to use not only lyrics, but also the gender of musicians and genres of music to oppose powerful entities. Throughout music s long lived history, lyrics have been the most obvious example of musical oppositions to power. Music and songs have been created to protest wars, raise awareness to violence, express pride in one s raceand culture, and challenge political forums, only to name a few examples. Furthermore, lyrics are a way in which an artist or composer can specifically tailor a message to explicitly state their take on a given institution or outlet of power. On the other hand, lyrics have also been used in a coded fashion to indirectly attack structures of power rather than explicitly attacking structure of power, which has been proven useful in times of serious civil oppression. • 35. Comparing Dorian Gray And Heart Of Darkness According to principles explained by Jacques Derrida, binary opposition is the means by which the units of language have value or meaning; each unit is defined in reciprocal determination with another term. Derrida adds that, for each center, an opposing center exists (Bressler, 110). For example, we know truth, because we know deception; we know good because we know bad (Bressler, 111). Joseph Conrad and Oscar Wilde s use of the binary oppositionof light/dark within The Picture of Dorian Gray and Heart of Darkness establishes both racial and class tension by contrasting a superior concept with its inferior. In The Picture of Dorian Gray, setting plays a major role in displaying class differences within the novel. Darker imagery is used to portray the East End, or the lower class part of London, while the West End is described as wealthy and cultured. For example, as Dorian travels through the East End, the chapter begins with, A cold rain began to fall, and the blurred street lamps looked ghastly in the dripping mist (Wilde, 176). Further, Wilde uses more dark images to create the scene of the East End. The path they end up on is determined by their personal feelings toward the world, the way they have been raised, and who they want to become in the future. In the short story titled, Where are you going where have you been this point is explicitly expressed in the title alone. One of the interpretations of this short storyis that a man named Arnold Friend liberated a young rebellious girl, Connie, from the torment of her youth. However, in reality the audience is eluded to the symbolism that Connie is being pulled away from her golden innocenceand into the arms of Satan himself. Arnold Friend exhibits Satanic traits, and on this symbolic level, a young girl being stripped from her childhood, and into an unforgiving world. The story reveals that Arnold Friend is no boy or friend, he is referred to as a devillike character. As the story progresses, signs are observed that highlight the rebellious girl as she sneaks out, omits information from her parents and is sucked into the teenage culture of the time. One Sunday Connie s family woke up and, none of them bothered with church (Oates), Sunday, in religious settings is historically the Lords Day. Oates isolates this sentence with dashes to set it apart from the rest of the story, foreshadowing the future satanic references. These dashes are used to symbolize that this Sunday takes a strange turn, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Doubt By Sister Aloysius Our dark ideas can sometimes lead us to choose the way things are perceived, the unquestioned beliefs we hold reinforce our nature of certainty consequently clouding our judgment of the truth, and making it difficult for us to see beyond the darkness. Sister Aloysius overcasts her ideas on father Flynn and eventually accuses him of wrongfully being involved with a troubled young African American Boy who s experienced considerable difficulties in school, due to racial, and sexual orientation. In this film, we can see character development in sister Aloysius, she presents a darkened way of thinking, and single mindlessly pursued to show this sunless perception of her ideology. Many civilizations used it for construction and it was found pretty much anywhere; there are many different types and colors of stones. To make sculptures out of stone, it would have to be stacked, chiseled, and incised carefully. The Roman Empire and Classical and Hellenistic Greece both used stone sculptures. Rome constructed the Trajan s Column out of stone. It is famous for the very detailed carvings around the 35 meter column which was carved one section at a time. This was built to celebrate the victory of two wars led by Emperor Trajan. Bronze sculptures were made of copper, zinc, and tin. It is a metal first discovered from bronze tools and weapons. The Yayoi period used bronze and iron in their daily life; bronze was used for swords and bells and iron was used for tools, weapons, and farming implements. The two major symbols of this culture was the bronze mirror and sword. Bronze bells called dotaku were thin and long and they were used for decorations and rituals. Love, Betrayal, Hubris, and Relationships in Cyrano de Bergerac French authors and playwrights have been acclaimed worldwide for their dynamic prose, complex situations, and unpredictable endings. The same praises hold true for Edmond Eugene Alexis Rostand. Born of Provencal ancestry on April 1, 1868, Rostand was well learned, as evidenced by his extensive childhood education as a student of the lycee of Marseille. His father was a prominent member of the Marseille Academy. As a direct result of this high influence, Rostand concluded his studies at the College Stanislas in Paris. In many ways, the character Cyrano differs from the actual hero. For instance, the real Cyrano was born in Paris, whereas the fictitious Cyrano was born in Gascony. However, it must not be forgotten that, in other ways, both characters are strikingly similar. Based on Cyrano de Bergerac, and putting aside the real Cyrano, Rostand combined traditional romanticism with a touch of his own Rostandism. Cyrano de Bergerac, the novel, is set in the 1600s (Goldstein 485), and it vividly tells the story of Cyrano, a successful swordsman, poet, philosopher, and playwright all rolled up into one. His only flaw is his long, unattractive nose, a topic to which Cyrano is very sensitive (Marlowe 1262). He is infactuated with Roxane, a witty, light headed distant cousin whom he proclaims to be the most beautiful woman in France. His own outward appearance frightens him into not professing his love to her, and she suspects nothing. Meanwhile, Roxane is in love with Christian de Neuvillette, a young, inexperienced soldier only because of his physical appearance. This revelation crushes Cyrano like a paper cup. Rather than taking revenge on Christian, Cyrano devotes himself in professing his love through letters addressed from Christian. Doing so only increases Roxane s love for Christian, and the two of them are married. Count de Guiche, the commander in charge of the regiment to which both Cyrano ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the last decade of the twentieth century, the concept of integrated marketing communications (IMC) received considerable attention from practitioners and academics alike, and that interest has continued into the new millennium (e.g., Bearden and Madden 1996; Cornelissen and Lock 2000; Duncan, Schultz, and Patti 2005; Garretson and Burton 2005; Nowak and Phelps 1994; Schultz and Kitchen 2000a; Schumann, Artis, and Rivera 2001). For instance, an ad that contains a direct response tool (e.g., a coupon), a public relations appeal (e.g., support of an esteemed social cause), and brand advertising (e.g., depiction and description of the offering) would reflect the integrated communication form of IMC. A key outcome of this approach is the acquisition of consumer information that is captured when consumers respond to direct response tools, sales promotions, and the like (Nowak and Phelps 1994). The one voice approach reflects a firm s focus on a single positioning strategy that emphasizes unity among brand/ image advertising, direct response advertising, public relations, and consumer sales promotions at the outset of a promotional campaign (Reilly 1991; Snyder 1991). In this approach, the position, message, or theme is what ultimately guides an organization s IMC decisions, which ostensibly could be rendered independently by the firm s advertising, public relations, and sales promotion agencies (Nowak and Phelps 1994). The third approach, coordinated marketing communication campaigns, stresses the need to integrate the activities of different marketing communication disciplines (e.g., sales promotions, advertising, and public relations) in ... Although it is considered that Hinduism does not necessarily have one text that provides the guidelines for the contemporary Hindu devotee, like the Bible does for Christians, but there are a few scriptures that help identify the ultimate goal for the followers of Hinduism. The Upanishads try to exemplify the message of obtaining the righteous path as much as possible with rooting its context to the most ancient Hindu text, the Vedas. Even though accepting the Advaita Vedanta means that there is no classification of male or female amongst people, it still sets a barrier for women because according to the Dharmasharstras, women were unfit to learn Vedic rituals and studies which are key requirements of sannyasa (Khandelwal 2004: 37). Herein lies the most significant deviation from the classical perspective of renunciation in modernity; most contemporary female renouncers, also referred to as sannyasinis, have broken out of a tradition that is characterized by the renunciation of rituals. They therefore have effectively redefined renunciation on their own terms. Like most classical renouncers, sannyasinis also build vairgya and have completely detachment from worldly materials. But unlike the classical renunciation where a renouncer would go off to the forest and be by himself, the modern day female renouncers have become more involved in social activism (Khandelwal 2004: 49). This is a clear alteration from the classical renouncer because now the female renouncers are participating in a form of actions which is still continue their cycle of karma, whereas the end goal is to stop exactly that according to the classical practices. In Khandelwal s book Women in Ochre Robes, she uses various examples of how different women are using types of social activism throughout their practices. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparison Of Warren Prior And Richard Cory Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson, and Warren Prior by Alden Nowlan are both poems which discuss the unhappiness people tend to hide about themselves. In these poems, irony is used to show how each persona is deeply unsatisfied with the circumstances they face although appearing different to their peers. To begin with, Richard Coryis about a man named Richard Cory who is notorious for being wealthy and seemingly has the type of lifestyle others would envy. However, they were not aware of the true feelings Cory carried as they focused on materialistic properties rather than personality traits. Thus, being a case of situational irony as most would expect someone with great wealth to be content with their life. Moving on, in Warren Pryor irony is shown within the son s relationship with his parents. The parents of the son grew up poor on a farm and simply wanted a better life for their son, so they worked extremely hard to send him to school and free him from the stony fields. Phoenix Jackson, main character, herself even becoming something to examine and study, as well as the characters and environment she encounters. Phoenix Jackson embarks on a journey to retrieve medicine for her sick grandson. Phoenix Jackson is described first as old African American woman. When given her description of herself (outfit and features), personality, and her many struggles to retrieve medicine, can been seen as rebirth or immortality, as well as describing America and it s future after depression. Phoenix Jackson s body, that is described, and her ethnicity are worth studying. At this time in history, the nineteen thirties, being a woman and African American were both downsides to what would have been desired: Caucasian and male. Phoenix Jackson s skin tone is also described very differently as well, with patches of multi skin tone with blue rage eyes (288). At first it is another noteworthy description, but when view deeper it could represent multiple things. Like many rebirthing that of a phoenix (mythical bird, that rebirth in a fireball, and reborns from their ashes) goes through, signifying her treacherous journey and obstacles overcome. It also can be used to show the diversity of not just her, but of America, where everyone old, sick, poor, no matter of race suffering all together.
