Essay On Enlightenment
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Essay On Enlightenment" is no simple task. It requires a deep
understanding of the Enlightenment era, its philosophical underpinnings, historical context, and
its impact on various aspects of society. The challenge lies not only in comprehending the
complex ideas put forth by Enlightenment thinkers but also in articulating them coherently and
critically analyzing their significance.
Moreover, the topic itself is broad and multifaceted, encompassing diverse themes such as
reason, liberty, progress, individualism, and the role of institutions. Navigating through this
expansive terrain demands meticulous research, thoughtful reflection, and the ability to
synthesize information from various sources.
Furthermore, writing an essay on the Enlightenment necessitates grappling with contrasting
perspectives and interpretations. Scholars have debated the nuances of Enlightenment thought,
its successes, limitations, and its relevance in contemporary society. As such, presenting a
nuanced argument that acknowledges different viewpoints while still advancing a coherent
thesis adds another layer of complexity to the writing process.
In addition to intellectual challenges, there are practical hurdles to overcome. Organizing ideas
effectively, crafting a compelling introduction and conclusion, and maintaining a cohesive
structure throughout the essay are essential yet demanding tasks.
Despite these difficulties, delving into the topic of the Enlightenment can be intellectually
rewarding. It offers an opportunity to engage with fundamental questions about the nature of
human knowledge, society, and progress. By grappling with the complexities of this historical
period, one gains insights that are relevant not only to the past but also to contemporary debates
and dilemmas.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on the Enlightenment is a formidable endeavor that requires
diligence, critical thinking, and a willingness to engage with complex ideas. However, the
process of wrestling with these challenges can lead to a deeper understanding of the subject
matter and its implications for the present day.

Conservation vs Preservation
Conservation Versus Preservation
Today, millions of acres of land in our nation have been fortunate enough to not be
disrupted by the touch of man. Around the nation it is also always on debate about
using the natural resources of those untouched lands to benefit the economy and
man in some way. However, there are many who oppose doing this and there are
also those who believe we should harness those resources, but in a way that is not
damaging. These two beliefs are called conservation and preservation and are very
different in the way people look at the land. Preservation refers to leaving the land
and all the natural wildlife and plant life alone and not disturbing the natural beauty
and natural cycle of life in the environment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Silverstein (2012), Democrats on the House Committee on Natural Resources,
however, are taking a high profile position in opposition to what they say are watered
down rules that allow natural gas producers to avoid publicly disclosing the
chemicals they use to drill (para. 4).
Preserving what natural land we have left now is very important and we should not
let it be destroyed or even altered even the slightest in anyway. We have national
forests like Bridger Teton to remind us of what the world use to be like to ensure that
we maintain a healthy environment for the nation. Simply conserving them is not
enough; we need to preserve them for generations to come so that wildlife may
flourish and so that we are always reminded of how important our natural
environment is.

Kai Banfield s Three-Step Toy Box
Kai Banfield, a geeky high school wrestler, had his room in the back of a house
owned by his mom; it was a small isolated place. To the left of the door as it was
entered was a three step toy box that could hold plenty of items. The steps had bins
that slide in and out holding wires, skate parts, paintball gear, and old toys. The
paintball gear bin appearing to be the only one with wear. Behind the steps was a
wall made of brick. This was the only wall this way in the entire room. The whole
room was painted a dull white with only 2 small windows making it feel as though
it is isolated from the world. On the same wall as the door was immediately a large
desktop tower that light up red. Right next to it was a shiny grey metal desk with
two drawers attached. Above the desk was a matching book case mounted to the
wall. It too had two pockets but these had hinges. On top of the desk lay a small
monitor, keyboard, and mouse for the desktop. On the other side of the desk was a
larger T.V. that was attached to his X Box One. The X Box One was laying under
the desk on a white wire box with the cords organized under the bin and coming out
of holes in the back of the wire bin. All of the technology was hooked up to two...

The Christian Hell and the Greek Underworld
Since ancient civilizations people have been trying to explain what goes on after
death. Throughout history, many cultures have had different theories about what
happens. Two distinguished ideas of where people go after death are the
underworld and Hell. The idea of the underworld came from the Greeks and
Romans. A few famous works by the Greeks and Romans that talk about the
underworld are The Iliad, The Aeneid, and, The Odyssey. A famous work that
discusses Hellis Dante s Inferno. Hell is an accepted part of the Christianityreligion
and taught all over the world. The two beliefs are very similar but some distinct
differences can be seen.

In ancient Greek beliefs people were also judged when they were down in the
underworld. At the dividing road between Tartarus, a place of torture in the
underworld and the Isles of the Blest, a place for the good in the underworld, there
are the Plains of Judgment. Awaiting the souls in the Plain of Judgment are
Aeacus, Minos, and Rhadamanthys. These dead men, judge who goes to Tartarus,
who goes to the Isles of the Blest or back to the Asphodel Fields if they were neither
good or evil. These men were all sons of Zeus who were rewarded as judges in the
underworld by creating the first just laws on Earth. Aeacus was king of Aegina
during mortal life and was also known for making decisions for Zeus. After his death
he became keeper of the keys of Hades and the judge of men of Europe in the
Underworld. Minos was the King of Crete, and Rhadamanthys was his brother.
They both lived in Asia during their mortal lives. After his death, Rhadamanthys
became lord of the Isles of the Blest, and judge of the men of Asia. After Minos
died he gained the responsibility of having the final judgment. In The Odyssey,
Odysseus says And now there came before my eyes Minos, the son of Zeus,
enthroned, holding a golden staff, dealing out justice among ghostly pleaders
arrayed about the broad doorways of Death. . (XI. 640) The Greeks believed Minos
had a lot of power in the underworld. In Roman beliefs Rhadamanthus had control

Podcasts And Content Marketing Essay
Content marketing began as a simple concept; one simply wrote blogs and articles
related to specific products and/or services and promoted them; however, content
creation in 2018 has come full circle. Businesses today have tried to keep up with
content trends and have used different tools to promote content in 2018.
Podcasts and Content Marketing
One of these content trends is the use of podcasts. Keep in mind that podcasting has
been used by many professions for quite some time now but its use in content
marketing is relatively new. Podcasting is fast catching. Approximately 40% people
in the US listen to at least one podcast on a regular basis. This trend has been
observed in both genders. In addition, podcast listeners often buy ... Show more

Format: Set up your basic show format. There is no right or wrong way to set up a
podcast. The important thing is that you feel comfortable with the entire idea, flow,
and format. Some podcasters ask questions from the listeners, others only provide a
running commentary, and yet others wait until the end to answer questions.
However, for effective content creation in 2018, it might be a good idea to
interview an expert who answers relevant questions. This way you can provide your
audience with a more credible source and you also don t have to answer every
question that your audience may ask.
Length: Remember, a podcast should not go on forever. Most people keep it for 45
60 minutes. This seems like an appropriate length because anything longer than this
could bore your listeners and force them to sign off.
Engaging the listeners: One of the most critical elements of a podcast is that it
should have content that is both engaging and interesting for the audience. An
effective way to do so is by picking up trending topics, invite guests and experts and
keep the flow of information smooth and relevant. Your audience wants to learn
something and they want to derive information from your podcast. You need to make
sure you are able to provide the information. Therefore, your best content advice in

In a talk given by Thomas Keller, a restaurant owner, about what excellent food

completely about the consumer. If the consumer does not have a good experience at

the food at a restaurant can depend a lot on the quality of ingredients. It s important

The setting of the story itself is beyond the minds of normal people in 1944, and
when the audience was exposed to it, the definition of sci fi was reshaped. It began
with the colonization of humans on the planet of Jupiter, the largest planet, with
great atmosphere pressure. Humans live inside a Dome, and can not explore
beyond it, except if they turn themselves into another alien form. Many brave men
have transformed themselves and walked out the dome, only to disappear and
never return. Fowler, the head leader of the Dome has had enough, and decided to
send himself and his puppy out. The story is considered a science fiction because of
its imaginative concept of futuristic, space exploration and extraterrestrial life. On
top of this, the story navigates through another planet, where humanity must adapt to
the environment or die trying. The main theme in this story is persistence, never
giving up no matter the circumstances or the difficulties. This is demonstrated
throughout the whole story, for example, Stanley, the scientist said, You re going
to keep on sentencing them to death, she said. You re going to keep marching them
out face to face with Jupiter. You re going to sit in here safe and comfortable and
send them out to die. This shows that lives after lives are being lost, but Fowler
will never give up in find the answer. He said, If a few men die, but we finally
succeed, the price is small. Through the ages men have thrown away their lives on
foolish things, for foolish reasons. Why should we hesitate, then, at a little death in a
thing as great as this? This demonstrates his hunger to finding the solution, the
solution that will enable humanity to explore beyond inside the Dome. Fowler and
his men are willing to continue sacrificing themselves because they know the price is
worth it for the great evolution of mankind. The theme of the story,

Cocolonizing Mars
In the process of colonizing Mars, there are some problems we face when it comes
to water and weather. Some obstacles are facile and are easy to overcome, but
others are more laborious and require additional thinking. One thing that we know
is that there is ice on Mars. However, the ice we know is not made up of water, but it

Elements of Religion in the Renaissance Portrayed in Hamlet by William Shakespeare
Literature of the Renaissance was far different from that of the previous eras. Man
was now thought of as the center of life, as opposed to God being the center in
earlier times. Also, man was thought to have free will over his life, not being simply
a pawn of the Gods. These new ideals were presented in the theaters as well as
written literature. The esteemed William Shakespeare incorporated many of these
components into some of the greatest performed classics in the history of theater.

. . Here human responsibility is obvious, defining the moral theory of the
Renaissance. Act II Scene II contains a speech by Hamlet to Rosencrantz and
Guidenstern that outlines the way man was viewed in Renaissance thinking. What
a piece of work is man! How noble in reason, how infinite in faculty, in form and
moving how express and admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension
how like a god the beauty of the world, the paragon of animals! Even though
Hamlet goes on to say that man delights not me , the speech still shows the
Renaissance view on life. This ideal was evident in the work of earlier Renaissance
writers such as Pico della Mirandola. In Pico s Oration on the Dignity of Man, the
great miracle of humanity was discussed. There is nothing to be seen more wonderful
than man. . .man is the intermediary between creatures, the intimate of the gods, the
king of the lower beings, by the acuteness of his senses, by the discernment of his
reason, and by the light of his intelligence. . . Also in Act II Scene II, the loveletter of
Hamlet to Ophelia is being discussed by Claudius, Gertrude, and Polonious. Although
thought of as a ploy by Hamlet to make everyone think he is mad, the first few lines
may have some distinctive significance:
Summary Of John KnowlesA Separate Peace
According to a study by Dr. Bella DePaulo, people regularly lie in one of five of
their interactions. This is very interesting considering that many people would say
that honesty is one of the most important elements to any relationship. John Knowles
noticed this contradiction and saw it as a problem, because he addresses it in A
Separate Peacethrough Gene. Gene avoids confronting and speaking about issues and
tells lies in hopes of not hurting himself and those around him, which all eventually
leads to Finny s permanent crippling, and then his death. Through Gene, Knowles
emphasizes the importance of appropriate communication, one of the most substantial
parts of a healthy human connection, because it can resolve conflicts before they
even happen.
Gene s inability to confront people about his feelings leads to bigger conflicts down
the road and teaches readers that expression of feeling can eradicate future conflicts.
Gene s deceit and inner conflict starts when Finny and Gene are on the beach
together. When Finny tells Gene that he is his best friend, Gene does not answer
and reflects, I should have told him then that he was my best friend also and
rounded off what he had said (Knowles 48). When he says that he should have
rounded off what he had said, it implies regret that he did not. Maybe this does not
directly lead to the accident or Finny s death, but this could have been a starting
point for Gene. If he could have learned to speak up earlier on, then the idea

Analysis Of Se7en By David Fincher
Se7en Sins Greed. Envy. Gluttony. Wrath. Lust. Pride. Sloth. These acts and
feelings are what most Christians consider the seven deadly sins. If you commit
any of these sins, you are doomed to hell and and an agonizing death. While most
religious people avoid the sins like the plague and see most people as good
samaritans, some see the sins in everyone they encounter like it s written all over
their face. Se7en, by David Fincher, explores what happens when the people who
see the sins in everyone decides to act on their views. The movie follows two
detectives, played by Brad Pitt(David Mills) and Morgan Freeman(Detective
Somerset), who follow a line of murders happening in the city they live in. They

This is useful in Se7en because the main topic surrounding the murders is religion.
Writers of the film used the serial killer genre because it s easy to grab people s
attention and convey the message that the world is a cruel place with many issues. If
the movie weren t sheltered with a simple slasher flick cover, it would instantly
become contentious, and many wouldn t want to squabble with a movie telling the
viewer about how religion isn t perfect.
Among other options, the debate of how Se7en is representation of violence in
practicing religion changes how many people alter their views of what is right and
wrong. Most people overlook the wrongdoings of the world and turn the other
cheek. In the film, the killer John Doe sees himself as a good person performing
God s work for him by acting on his feelings and not turning the other cheek. This
suggests that killing people because they re doing God s work is okay because
they have religion to blame for their reasoning. One of John Doe s final speeches is
him trying to justify why he went on a killing spree, and he justifies his actions by
saying,
Only in a world this shitty could you even try to say these were innocent people and
keep a straight face. But that s the point. We see a deadly sin on every street corner, in
every home, and we tolerate it. We tolerate it because it s common, it

Lululemon has a growing reputation for making defective yoga pants (due to

Nathaniel Hawthorn was an American novelist and short story writer. He is also a
very interesting writer to analyze due to the psychological complexity of his work.
Most of his works feature moral allegories with a Puritan inspiration. His fiction
works are considered part of the Romantic Movement and, more specifically, dark
romanticism. His themes often center on the inherent evil and sin of humanity, and
his works often have moral messages and deep psychological complexity. More
specifically, in The MinisterВґs Black Veil and Young Goodman Brown these
qualities and characteristics of his works are quite easy to see. In contrast with many

And it was I that brought your father a pitch pine knot, kindled at my own hearth,
to set fire to the Indian village in King s Phillip war (611). Here is where Hawthorn
started to point out the hypocrisy of the puritan religion and the sinful nature of all
man. Later, Hawthorn continued to point out the hypocrisy of puritans at its
outmost. If it be as thou sayest, replied Goodman Brown, I marvel they never
spoke of these matters. Or, verily, I marvel not, seeing that the last rumor of the
sort would have driven them from New England (612). Here Hawthorn tries to
show how puritans kept their most dark sins hidden from even their most beloved,
making them hypocrites towards God, society and their religious beliefs. As the
story continues Goodman has an internal battle, he is trying not to continue through
the dark forest, the only think that is giving him the strength to get out from there
is the memory of his wife Faith. When he lifted his hands to pray, a cloud appeared
upon his head, then he heard a voice uttering lamentations, it came from a woman, it
was Faith s voice. Then he heard a new scream from the same voice that drowned
immediately into a louder murmur of voices, fading into far off laughter, as the dark
cloud swept away. Those other voices were the voices of the unseen multitude, both
saints and sinners which encourage Brown s faith to disappear. My Faith is gone!

three cultural expressions that identify who I am. I will talk about each expression
individually and explain the importance meaning they each have in my life. I will
talk about how each expression defines me and my beliefs. I will conclude with
what people might think or assume that my cultural expressions say about me. I
begin with my first cultural expression. When I was growing up and I would go

never understood the candle. One day I decided to ask my Aunt what the candle
burning meant. My Aunt told me that it keeps us safe and cleanses the house of
any evil. From that day on I always believed that my Aunt premonitions were true
and that if I keep a candle burning I would always be safe in my home. My Aunt
always made me feel safe and brought me a sense of peace. I always have a candle

Grit Essay
Grit, what is this? Is it success, is it failure, or is it talent? As Angela Duckworth
said Grit is passion and perseverance for very long term goals. Grit is having
stamina. Grit is sticking with your future, day in and day out. Not just for the
week, not just for the month, but for years. And working really hard to make that
future a reality. Grit is living life like it s a marathon, not a sprint. Grit is a
combination of strength, persistence, focus, and dedication that helps a person to
maintain the optimism and discipline needed to persevere in their goals even if
they are head to head with failure. Grit does not depend on talent, IQ, or success.
Grit is the ability to fail and learn from your mistake, in order to come back next...

I remember going to sleep at 1:30 am, because I was working on my posters, and I
remember spending 7 hours on a Saturday to brainstorm and write my speech.
Eventually my hard work and dedication paid off when I won. On the other hand I
remember that training for my 5k was much worse. On the side of being trained by
the Devil himself (Coach Acuna) I was also training on my separate time with my
dad. I wanted to quit every day and I didn t want to run twice, but eventually I
started to improve and I began to feel good. I realized that I could accomplish
everything and anything I wanted to. In the future I would love to be sleeping
early not having to work on an extra credit assignment. I know you would rather be
sleeping than reading multiple extra credit essays. I did not do what was asked of me
as an AP student this first six weeks, but I will learn from my mistake and I will get
back in the groove of school. By the end of this year I would like to look back on my
report card and see a 91% or above on every single one of my classes. I would like
to be signing up for thousands of different scholarships rather than worrying on
how I will pay my tuition. In order for all of this to happen I will make sure that
every homework assignment is turned in on time, I will also make sure that I do my
best to complete any assignment (especially Socratic seminars). I will start to study

Comparison Of Gun Control Laws With The United States
Comparatively gun control laws with the United States and other countries: What
could be done to reduce gun violence in the United States, by comparing gun control
laws with other countries to see weather or not gun laws are effective? I feel
comparing gun control laws between other countries to see how their laws are in
effect with lowering gunviolence, so we could get a better understanding on what
we could do as a country to help reduce gun violence or to see if gun control is even
affective. Gun control was intended to help stop people from killing each other, well
that s what we are always were told. I have gathered multiple facts and data to help
compare different countries on what methods they have chosen to help reduce gun
violence. Comparing the laws on banning guns in other countries such as, Australia s

mass shootings, the government proposed and passed the National Firearms
Agreement and Buyback Program. The new gun laws included a ban on many types
of semi automatic, self loading rifles and shotguns. Each gun was required to have a
separate permit with a 28 day waiting period, and Australia created a national firearm
registration system. Guns had to be sold by a licensed firearms dealers, and limits

This mate selection compares with socially monogamous mammals. However,
monogamy behaviours were not found in experimental laboratory species such as
rats and mice. However, pair bonding in monogamous species has been associated
with prairie voles(Carter, DeVries Getz, 1995). Identifying maternal bonding from
pair bonding by blocking oxytocin receptors that inhibit maternal bonding in female
prairie voles found that maternal bond inhibits partner preference and pair bonding
(Carter, DeVries Getz, 1995; Stoop, 2012). Identifying high levels of oxytocin in
the prefrontal cortex and the nucleus accumbens in the prairie vole, suggests that
neuropeptides influence the pathways that are involved in reward (Stoop, 2012)
and reinforcement, therefore, control the process of social information. Increased
levels of vasopressin increased bonding in voles(Carter, DeVries Getz, 1995).
Blocking of vasopressin receptor V1aR in voles showed a reduced time in social
interaction. However, blocking V1aR in mice had a severe social impairment as they
showed no general recollection of previous interaction with other mice. These
experiments give reason to suggest that there are distinct roles for oxytocin and
vasopressin between species, implying that genetic variation and vasopressin
influences social behaviours, combined with oxytocin indicate how modulation of
social behaviour occurs. Vasopressin

Naturalistic Observation Of Student s A Coffee Line
Naturalistic Observation of Student s in a Coffee Line In the United States, 85%
of adults own a cell phone, with 18 to 24 year olds texting the most (Zickuhr,
2011). Of these adults, 67% reported that they check their phone even if they do
not hear it ringing, 44% sleep with the phone beside their bed, and 29% reported
they could not live without their cell phone (Smith, 2012). In addition, according to
the Baylor University report, studies show that young adults check their phone an
average of 60 times a day. This study examined cell phone use among university
students that were alone and in a group. Specifically, we were interested in
observing whether students alone in a coffee line or students in a group in a coffee
line, spent more or less time on their cell phone. We were also interested to observe
if genderaffected cell phone usage and whether males or females were more likely
to be in a group. The purpose of this study was to determine if university students
that are alone spend more or less time on their phone than students that are in a group.
We also examined if gender was an important factor on whether a student was in a
group or alone. Using naturalistic observation, we calculated the amount of time
individual students were on their phone per three minute time interval. The hypothesis
was that students alone in a coffee line would spend the most time on their phone.
We also predicted that women were more likely than men to be in a group.

Aesthetic Sentiment and Judgement According to David Hume, a great philosopher
in 18th century, Beauty in things exists in the mind which contemplates them. As a
result, good art is the judgement of individual base on their positive sentiment toward
an artwork, and that is called the taste of art. Besides, David Hume also believes there
is something will make an artwork better than others. To experience that belief, after

that A Bull Fight is better artwork than The Bonaventure Pine even though both are

The first interesting artwork is A Bull Fight by Jacquez Raymond Brascassat (1804

canvas medium, and published in 1855. Its dimensions are about 57x75 inches,

but it only made me depressed.
I really liked Ciel.
Alice? someone asked. I snapped out of my daze. I d know that voice anywhere.
I turned in my chair and smiled, Ciel! I got up and hugged him tightly. He seemed a
bit awkward about it, but wrapped his arms around me.
When I pulled away, I was full of concern, Are you okay? Did you get hurt? I m so
sorry, Ciel! I... I didn t know how to help you.
It s fine. We re back together now, right? That s what matters, he said. I nodded in

he would have chewed them out for it. I was grateful for the reaction, of course, but
considering the recent revelation, my thoughts drifted to reasons of the change.

Mental Health And Mental Depression
Mental Health and SRM Magda is suffering from depression, or another mental
illness that is like depression. She has not been feeling like her usual self, and no
longer enjoys the things she use to enjoy. She also has anxiety when it comes to
social situation. Magda lives in a country that does not recognize depression as a
valid illness, and there is stigma she would have to deal with if she sought medical
treatment. I will be using the Self Regulatory Model (SRM) and additional
information to help explain why Magda has not sought help for her mental illness,
and how she could use SRM to seek help. Before I begin, I would like to define
what depression is and what depression is not. Depression is defined as feelings of
sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. (American Psychiatric
Association, 2017). Depression is not just being sad for a day. To diagnose
someone with depression an individual must have the symptoms related to
depression for more than two weeks (American Psychiatric Association, 2017).
Depression is not being able to enjoy or do the things you use to do. It is a valid
illness. Now that I have defined what I mean by depression, I will get to my point.
Mental illness is a controversial subject. According to the National Alliance on
Mental Illness (NAMI) (2015), 1in 5 adults in the USA suffer from some form of
mental illness. That s roughly 40 million adults. You probably know someone who
suffers from a mental illness, or you yourself
Stockman Moral Relativism
What are the implications of Dr. Stockman s actions for the issue of moral relativism?
Moral relativism is the belief that moral principles depends on cultural acceptance,
or a subjective point of view. We get to see how subjective it can be reading Henrik
Ibsen s play, The Enemy of the People (Pojman 166). The play is about a doctor
(Stockman) in a Norwegian town, who learns that the water used in the towns baths
is contaminated. Dr. Stockman feels morally obligated to inform people of his
findings. His brother Peter, is the town s mayor. Peter does not think the people
need to know about the water and warns his brother to keep silent. Dr. Stockman
rejects his brother s warnings. Doing so, results in the doctor becoming an outcast. I
can imagine the dilemma that the doctor faced. He is aware of the revenue that the
baths generate for his hometown. Yet, he is also ethically responsible as a doctor to
notify citizen about the harm that the baths will cause. I was surprised at the people s
response to the doctor. He tells them the truth, but they reject it. Their actions
highlight some issues of moral relativism.
The two brothers are examples of how personal opinions and self interest determine
our moral outlook. Stockman is looking at his moral obligation from a doctor point
of view. He is concerned with public health. Peter is looking from a mayor point of
view. He is concerned about the towns economy and his reputation. The brothers meet
to discuss the problem. Peter
The Essence of Education

I cannot write this essay without reference to study of my own experienced and my
daughter s placed in the harsh environment of the government schooling system and
its observations of the stark belief systems of the child to fit the system and not the
system to fit the child with reference to the what education should be about. This
means different things to different people. To some this means a teacher teaching
and passive learning taking place, the outcome is expected at the end of each year
that each child has to achieve the same outcome and is graded accordingly.
The only problem with this is the removal of freedom and time constraints and a

With this in mind, not only the environment plays the most important function in the
restoration of natural learning, but so does the recognition of the individual. This not
includes the didactic materials available for learning but also includes the nature and
predisposition of the teacher. A teacher who is unkind is forever remembered and
imprinted on the experience of the child, and so it is that no teacher should enter the
profession without being thoroughly researched by the place of employment.
I remember a few of these unkind souls and forever remember their manner and the
effect it had on me. I simply did not wish to be there in the presence of these
teachers, so went out of my way to stay away. The harsh reality was that I failed to
prosper in these classes. One has to ask if this is right and if the essence of
education is being missed. Reality and national results speak for themselves. What
are we producing in society today? We are in effect only producing humanbeings
who are workers and not free thinkers. Human beings who do not question, reason
and think for themselves. This is where education has lead humanity. Is this an aid to
life or a long term obstacle that is too far gone to fix in the later stages.
Many parents see this but are also trapped by fear and economics. Rather than
question, too many offload the children in these harsh environments so that they can

Comparative Education
France has a highly organized educational system, which is divided into primary,
secondary and tertiary (college) education. Primary and secondary education is
usually imparted at public schools although a strong network of private schools also
exists. All educational programs in France are regulated by the Ministry of National
Education.
Schooling in France is mandatory as of age 6, the first year of primary school while
secondary education consists of collГЁge for the first four years after primary school
and the lycГ©e for the next three years. The baccalaurГ©at is the end of lycГ©e

Under the pressure of a massive rise in number pupils in middle and high schools,
project pedagogy was presented as a possible solution to meeting the needs of the
diversity of pupils, addressing their individual needs, and developing pupil autonomy
(GinestiГ©, 2002). It was in this context, in 1985, that technology education was
introduced in France as a part of science and technology education in elementary
schools, as a new subject for all pupils in middle schools and as an optional subject
in high schools. We can note four stages of organization of technology education
between 1985 and today.
1.1.2 1985 1991: the implementation of the first curriculum
Technology education was conceived of as a new subject and took the place of
MTE (manual and technical education) in terms of hours, classrooms, and teachers.
The curriculum emphasized the industrial environment, leaving little room for home
economics and craftsmanship (COPRET, 1984). It had two different elements that
made these references plain. On the one hand, the general part of the course described
the overall goals, context, and aims of technology education in France.
The aims were in terms of pupils attitudes towards technology (as related in many
papers, e.g. de Vries, 1994; Jones, 1997; Compton amp; Jones, 1998; Gardner amp;
Hill,
1999; Dugger, 2000) and in terms of the social and professional world of industrial
production (this idea can also be found in many papers
Exposure to Violence and Videogames
Intro paragraph:
Many teenagers who are around my age have been born into and raised in a
generation where violence is idolized in video games and in the media. Although
parents monitor and guide their children, [the] media is everywhere. TV, Internet,
computer and video games all vie for our children s attention] and often times are
the sole free time activity (American Academy of Pediatrics). As media monopolizes
the adolescent generation, society has begun to look at the effects it may have
especially material that promotes violence. Although much of this violence is
fictional, it still been found that violence in the media has many negative effects on
developing children and even grown adults ( CITATION NEEDED). Based on the
research conducted on the effects of violence in the media, society and especially
children should not be exposed to violence in video games and the media. This
opinion is congruent with the Catholic Church.
1st Paragraph:
Both, the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Palo Alto Medical
Foundation have delved into the issue on whether young children and adolescents
should be exposed to violence in video games and the media, gaining much research
through the use of multiple case studies. The results of these case studies were very
similar, being consistently negative for both organizations. A Pew Research Center
survey, in 2008, found that half of all teens reported playing a video game yesterday,
and those who played every day
Personal Health Behaviors And Religious Prohibition Of...
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
Personal health behaviours are activities that heighten risk of disease or promote the
maintenance of health. They consist of two broad classes of behaviour: 1) Health
risk behaviours, or activities carried out with a frequency or intensity that increases
risk of disease or injury; these include cigarette smoking, excessive alcohol
consumption, certain sexual behaviours and drink driving. 2) Positive health
behaviours, or activities that may help prevent disease and injury, detect disease and
disability at an early stage, or enhance health; regular physical activity, avoidance of
fat in the diet, eating fruit and fibre, and breast and testicle self examination, all fall
into this category. (1) Personal health behaviours are thought to play a key role in
determining the prevalence of diseases of major socio economic impact throughout
the world, including cardiovascular diseases, cancers and accidents. (2)
Personal health behaviours are determined by a wide variety of factors, including
socio cultural influences (e.g. dietary traditions and religious prohibition of
alcohol), legislation (e.g. laws restricting the purchase of tobacco and the use of
seat belts), macroeconomics (e.g. disposable income and taxation on cigarettes),
health care provision (e.g. occupational health checks and free dental care), systems
of provision of goods and services (e.g. availability of sporting facilities and low fat
foods), and socio demographic factors (age,
Addiction Effects On Aboriginal People
Today, the way addiction in aboriginal people is perceived has many disadvantages.
The impact is great and the effects are many. Not only is it a burden to the friends
and families evolved but also to the community or area lived in by the addict.
During the time, there is pain for families and community, but the addict has
hidden pains that impact the addiction. There are many factors that contribute to
addiction being a problem. I will touch on a few of these factors such as the social

will also consider how beneficial the addicts and elders are to helping resolve some
of these problems. With past acts of colonization and the effects of residential... Show

No one releases that doing something so harmful to one s body and self esteem is a
way of escaping life. When it comes to Aboriginal healing there has to be a self
discovery of mind, body, spirit, and emotional health that needs to be aligned
before an addict can fight off the demons (White Bison, 2002). Addictions often
begin with trying to coping stated above with a high level of stress, pain
(emotional and physically), and even mental illnesses that have or haven t been a
diagnosis. Living within a community that is lost many people can t get out of the
destructive circle. Having parents not being around because they are working on
addiction themselves allows for children to become lost or even accept that this is
where they will stay for the rest of their lives. Social stigmas only add to these
problems when one feels the need to hide who they or their family members are, the
feelings they have, and hiding that alcohol or drugs made them feel better instead of
looking for the help that is needed when the feeling of need the drug of choice
Thinking, Fractions And Decimals Are Extremely
Important...
Multiplicative thinking, fractions and decimals are extremely important areas of
mathematics children are required to develop. The concepts within these three areas
are related and it is critical for educators to support these relationships in the
classroom. Multiplicative thinking involves recall of basic facts, the relationship
between multiplicationand divisionand underpins the development of fractions.
Comprehension of fractions includes the division of objects, fractions as numbers,
the multiple ways equal fractions can be represented, as well as being represented
as decimals. Place value is a very important underpinning concept of decimals. Place
value aids the ability to read, write and work with decimals. There are a numberof
difficulties children can come across when developing these concepts and
relationships. With a vast mathematical content knowledge and pedagogical content
knowledge educators can provide effective instruction to help children over come
their difficulties. Developing a deep understanding of multiplicative thinking,
fractions and decimals will assist children in later mathematics.
To become a multiplicative thinker the ability to recall basic multiplication facts and
understanding of the relationship between multiplication and division must be
developed. If children do not develop the ability to recall basic multiplication facts
they can be in danger of developing negative feelings towards mathematics and
becoming withdrawn (Booker, Bond,
Physical Therapists And Physical Therapy Essay
Physical therapists have become a highly respected and necessary part of the
healthcare team, yet the process of becoming a physical therapist has become
increasingly challenging. Physical therapy students must maintain a high GPA in
order to remain in highly competitive doctoral programs and must also successfully
complete several clinical experiences over the course of, on average, three years.
For many students, their first clinical experience can be very intimidating because it
will be the first time they have been in a type of setting other than the classroom.
Often times, they will have no idea what to expect or how to prepare. Physical
therapists also have the additional challenges of dealing with drastic changes in the
profession that include the disparities in healthcare, escalating healthcare costs, and
the demand for more efficient and cost effective practice (Hayward et al., 2013). The
scope of physical therapypractice is also evolving to include direct access as the
norm in all 50 states, including Washington D.C. This change requires ever growing
autonomy and clinical decision making skills for all physical therapists (Hayward et
al., 2013).
Clinical affiliations are an integral part of the doctor of physical therapy (DPT)
education. Currently, all physical therapy students in the United States will graduate
with a doctoral degree. Along with this relatively new advancement in the field, it is
the expectation that entry level physical therapists are

in the order of hands, mouth, nose, face, arms and then wet hands are run over the
head and neck, then the ears and finally the feet. During the prayer it also involves
specific postures which are standing, stooping, kneeling and also sitting. Whilst
kneeling, the forehead and chin must be touching the ground. This is all known as
rakah specific words and postures. The prayers may be said anywhere that is
sanitary. They will be opened, shoes must be removed and the individual will always

Analysis Of Luther The Reformer By Kittelson
Martian Luther
The book Luther The Reformer, by James Kittelson focused on the life, death and
work of Martian Luther. Luther came from humble beginnings, born the son of a
peasant. From these humble beginnings, Luther unintentionally created a revolution
within the world of the church and an empire of Protestantism. Luther was not the
person to start this spark nor did he want to create a new religion, rather his idea
was to reform the church , but it was his views that were carried forth and spread.
He was simply in the right place at the right time. Luther created a ripple effect that
has shaped religion into what it is today. Whether we realize it or not, these teaching

He would evaluate the scriptures by asking the question, what does this mean for
me . This is a really key concept in my mind because it sets the stage for why Luther
writes what he writes. He takes the passages in the Bible and examines how they
apply to us and our salvation. He evaluates what the possible implications are for our
salvation. This is the fundamental view of the protestant church. It is the view that
the Protestant church has focused on so intently. It is no longer us being told what
the Bible means, but it is us interpreting it for ourselves. It is this thought that has
brought us to where we are today. It has been both beneficial, in terms that the people
now have the Bible in their language and often in their possession, but it also creates
fighting amongst individuals on what passages may or may not mean. This has led to
massive schisms within the church today and throughout the past 500

The purpose of education is being debated for many years....
The purpose of education is being debated for many years. Many ideas and theories
have been developped about this purpose. However, this paper s aim is to focus on
two specific approaches in education. First one is the approach of teaching how to
think and the other one is the approach of teaching what to think. In my opinion,
educationteach people how to think rather than what to think because this approach
increases the awareness of questioning, improves thinking skills, enhances creativity
and broadens human s point of view.
Questioning is the fundamental component of the approach of teaching how to think
and significantly improves mental development. Oak mentions that education should
let people question what they learnt and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The approach of teaching how to think enhances thinking skills. There is an
important thinking style that every single student should learn is named critical
thinking. People can learn it by applying this approach to education. Tim van Gelder
mentions that the fundamental aim of education is to enhance thinking skills,
especially critical thinking skills. He also presses about the necessity of this thinking
because many students accept hypothesis without criticisizing and comparing it with
others. (41). As he said, critical thinking, at any level, is needed in education.
Besides, this is an issue mostly neglected because it is hard to apply in education
because human beings are not natural critics. As long as some knowledges make
sense to people, they usually do not make any effort in questioning these knowledges.
Thats why learning critical thinking is not easy that can be done in a couple weeks.
Van Gelder also supports this idea by saying Although it can be seem quite basic, it
actually is a complicated process. ( van Gelder, 42 ). He means learning critical
thinking by saying it.
Thinking and questioning pushes the limits of mind and increases creativity.
Creativity improves art and science. In that sense, the approach of teaching how to
think improves creativity. Importance of creativity in education has been pointed in
many academic articles. To give an example, Mark A. Runco from Psychology
Department in California State University said :

The IRS has studied the frequency of errors in tax form B 7014, a two page form.
The probability of error on the first page is 0.1. Given that the first page has an
error, the probability that the second page also has an error is 0.15; given that the
first page does not have an error, the probability that the second page has an error

Saber The Hero s Journey
In The Search, by Naguib Mahfouz, the protagonist, Saber, brings forth the
question of what it means to be a genuine hero. After being thrust into a world of
uncertainty, he sets off on a search to find his father. Yet, it is quickly apparent that
Saber lacks the qualities to be a hero in the traditional sense. While Saber does
experience a portion of expected heroic like events, he fails to be a typical hero
because of his inability to overcome his transgressions and maintain conventional
heroic attributes. He does, however, partially make his amends as an anti hero.
According to Joseph Cambell s Hero s Journey, there is a standard set of actions that
transpires in multiple stories, particularly in heroic ones. This sequence of actions

This idea is supported in The Search, by how Elham serves as both a foil to Saber s
character and a symbol of improvement for him. To clarify, up until this point it is
clear that Saber (in his unheroic like fashion) is mainly relying on others to
complete his search. In Cairo, he finally places an advertisement for his father,
though in perspective, it means the success of his search practically depends on his
father seeing the advertisement and responding to it. Saber makes no further
attempts to even narrow down his father s possible occupation or location. In
contrast, Elham cultivates her own future, acquiring a higher education while
working as a clerk, a noteworthy feat for a woman in her times. Saber, the
supposed hero, however is unwilling to accommodate for a more reliable and
realistic life. When Elham questions why he does not work he responds, any work I
do must come through my father. It s worthless otherwise (372). And later when she
actually offers to find him possible job opportunities his excuse is only, there s
nothing I know how to do (407). Though the reader may wish Saber to choose Elham,
thus ultimately developing his character and improving his odds, he remains

piercing rainfall. London had a crisp air on an early December morning, and today
followed suit. As Raven s eyes wandered aimlessly through the congested area of
families and business people, a peculiar man and object had slowly consumed his
concentration. Wearing a black trench coatand a claret coloured fedora, the man had
entered the object yet was more unassuming than a Galapagos turtle. Two minutes
had gone by and Raven had been put in a perplexed standard; he was confused as to
whether to be intrigued or bored. As he leant down to taste his hot chocolate, what he
next saw left him bewildered. The man had vanished without a sight, as if the

My job was simple. Infiltrate the LRA s HQ in order to receive intelligence on
Ravhim Ruallah, LRA s notorious kingpin. After constant war crimes, racketeering
and corruption within the Lebanese government led to civil unrest in the late 2000 s.
After 4 years of no known criminal activity, it was notified that Mr Ruallah had

the terrified civilians refuging in the Kadisha Valley who have noted harmful

The Most Successful Treatment Today For Depression
Suicide is a growing problem around the world and is the third leading cause of
death. Statistics show the seriousness of the situation. According to W.H.O. (World
Health Organization) and C.D.C. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), over
800,000 people die by suicide every year with 42,773 being Americans. The National
Alliance on Mental Illness says the leading cause of people committing suicideis
untreated depression, but only half of all Americans experiencing an episode of
major depression receive treatment ( Causes ). The most successful treatment today
for depression is therapy and/or prescript ed medication. The other common causes of
suicide are other mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, postpartum
depression, PTSD, or others similar. Today, it is a constant battle to find ways to
prevent suicide more efficiently. To break down why people commit suicide, in a
social aspect, sociologist David Emile Durkheim, broke it into four different terms
of situations that are called: egoistic, altruistic, anomic, and fatalistic. Durkheim
says, Egoistic suicide occurs in a society where there is excessive individualism, that
is, low social interaction ( Altruistic ). This means there is little interaction between
the individual and a cohesive social group that could give the individual a feel of
purpose in their life. People with more interaction create goals, values, and bonds
with people around them in a social group that increases their

Date performed January 18, 2015
Introduction/ Abstract:
Simple harmonic motion is the study of oscillation. An object undergoes oscillation
when it experiences a restoring force which restores this object to equilibrium
positon. The Simple harmonic oscillation occurs when the net force on an object
along the direction of motion is proportional to the object s displacement and in the
opposite direction by this equation F = kx. In addition, an object whose position
time graph makes a sine or cosine function is in simple harmonic motion. This type
of relation is called Hooke s law. The purpose of this experiment is to prove Hooke s
law and study Simple harmonic motion and to show that this equation T = 2 is valid
during Simple harmonic motion.
Theory:
The relevant theoretical concepts and equations used in this experiment are:

Two Kinds Theme Essay
The theme in Two Kinds is acceptance which is advanced through the text by Jing
mei s mother not accepting her. Two Kinds theme is acceptance and it is
demonstrated many times throughout the text by the mother. Jing mei and her
mother moved to America and her mother wanted her to be a prodigy. At first Jing
mei was excited, then the tasks got difficult and she was not happy. All Jing mei
wanted was for her mother to not reproach every action and encourage her to want
to do something she enjoys. Jing mei s mother tried to make her into something
she is not, something she does not want to be, she did not accept her. Why don t

shouted. Only asked you to be your best. For you sake. You think I want you to be

Kinds is an example of Jing mei s mother pushing her and making her something she

...I m not going to play anymore. I said nonchalantly. Why should I? I m not a

angry way. No! I said, and now I felt stronger, as if my true self had emerged. So
this was what had been inside me all along. No! I won t! I screamed. She snapped
off the TV, yanked me by the arm and pulled me off the floor... You want me to be
something I m not! I sobbed. I ll never be the kind of Daughter you want me to be!...
The quote is textual evidence that the mother makes Jing mei do something she does
not want to do. Jing mei does not want to play the piano because she feels her mother
should accept her for who she is and what she wants to do. The main theme is
acceptance and many conflicts support that theme just like the ones
Purpose In The Movie Shyamalan
The human race is the only known species on Earth that requires a purpose in life;
most species only require basic things to have a successful life, such as: eat, sleep,
breed, repeat. This is not the case for humans, as previously stated, humans need a
purpose; whether the purpose is taking care of family, going to school or work,
humans require something to make them feel useful in some sort of way. Many
people go their whole lives not finding their purpose, while others simply do not care
about finding a greater purpose, and are content with smaller daily activities to fill
that spot. However, those looking for a purpose can be disheartened when they can
not find it quickly, bringing on an obsessive out look. Manjo M. Night Shyamalan,
takes this to extremes, in his movie Unbreakable. Shyamalan, a man holding
multiple roles in the film industry such as; producer, writer, director, and actor,
takes on the role of director. Unbreakable is an artistic, thought provoking movie on
the phenomena known as purpose , and the importance of it, the character Elijah
portrays this, as well as taking the need for worth too far, I, similarly to Elijah, do
not know my purpose.
Lacking purpose, or lacking an ability to fulfill one s believed purpose, can lead to
multiple psychological discrepancies. Elijah Price, sufferer of Type I Osteogenesis
Imperfecta, leading him to experience many forms of mental illness, due to having

A Time Of Colonization Of The African Continent By...
A time of expeditious colonization of the African continent by European power is
better known as the scramble for Africa . The European nations involved in the
scramble were Germany, France, Britain, Belgium, Portugal, and Italy. The economic,
social, and military evolution Europe was going through at the time allowed for this
to happen. In 1870, only 10 percent of Africawas under European control. However,
over time European rivalries intensified which caused a mad scramble to rule as
much of the continent as possible. By 1914 the only states European nations did not
control were Ethiopia and Liberia. (1) (Robert R. Edgar, George F. Jewsbur, Neil J.
Hackett, Barbara S Molony, Matthew Gordan, Civilizations Past Present 12th Ed. Vol.
II (New York: Longman, 2007), 738) The scramble for Africa cannot be explained by
just one cause. It looks indisputable that although the specific reasons that set forth
the scramble were wide ranged throughout the continent the action was determined by
a state of the expanding international economic and political rivalry caused by the
unequal growth of industrial capitalism.
The discovery of large deposits of diamonds in 1868 and gold on the Witwatersrand
in 1886 led to a vast influx of White settlers from Britain and other European states
into South Africa and gave further motivation to the Scramble for Africa among the
European powers. (4)(Hilton, J.L, 2014). This complicated the Afro European for
political sovereignty by
The For-Profit Education Industry
For profit education As with any business industry, the education industry is one
big and diversified with multiple options ranging from publicly own Universities,
private nonprofit colleges to for profit schools. But today I am going to talk about
specifically about for profit educations. What is for profit education? What type of
product and service do they serve and served? Who are the biggest players and
how do they affect the industry and control over price? What are the methods used?
What are the barrier to entry and exit? And last profitability. A brief history of For
profit education. For profit education can be traced back to the time of the founding
fathers. In fact, Benjamin Franklin was a big advocate of For profit schools.... Show

Regarding with any business, there are many barriers to entry to the For profit
education industry. The first and for most barrier to entry to the For profit colleges
and universities is Money. As reported by the Slate for profit colleges and university
need First, raise a lot of money. Without a pile of cash on hand, [if not] you won t
be able to pay faculty and staff, or buy land, buildings, and textbooks (Beam). The
second barrier faced by For profit industries is licensing and accreditation. According
to the same article on the slate ...Before a college can start accepting students, it
needs a degree granting license. Each state has its own process, but usually you
need to submit your university s curriculum to a committee for review . And get an
accreditation from both regional and national accreditation agencies. In the state
of Texas agency such as the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior
Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC) or at the
national level you need an accreditation from Accrediting Commission of Career
Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). But at the basic level for profit industries need to

The Hubspot Case
One of the key challenges that start ups face is the demand to grow rapidly. This
will make most the management challenges that are to some extent present in all
new firms, but if you have a lot of VC money the managerial pressure is even more
fierce. The company needs to have evidence that it will grow and acquire new
customers to keep its positive status. In Hubspot case, they had problems to keep up
with sales targets and keep the customer base growing. A customer base and growth
figures are one of the main things that are measured in start ups and much of the hype
around the company is justified by growth prospects, not profit or real financials. In
Hubspot, the growth problems were solved by setting up the traditional telemarketing
function... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The critical thing to keep up the hype is to have good publicity in the press and
media. To secure that there needs to be a certain kind of professionalism in the
firm to support managers and handle PR issues. In Hubspot case, this part was a
real challenge mainly because of people related issues. Managers had a big ego
(like Halligan) and the said things in the interviews that were harmful to Hubspot.
Or quite common thing is that people do not get along. When the company is a
small and possible reward is high (in the case of IPO) some people want to secure
that they are in the positive spotlight. An example of this kind of behaviour was
when PR people did not train managers to deal with press issues and that caused a
lot of pressures for the firm, especially when the IPO was approaching (and to be
fair Mr Lyons was also, with some of his Facebook comments, ausing some problems
for Hubspot imago).
Another kind of human resource management challenge can be if the founders do
not contribute fully. In Hubspot, Shah (CTO) was not very active to contribute day
to day management of the firm. This was not reported to be a big deal in Hubspot
case, but in some start ups, this kind of thing could be the real
Censorship Limit Humanity
J.S Mill s main conclusion to Chapter 2 is that Censorship limits humanity s ability to
have critical discussions. The two arguments he poses to defend his claim are that
human beings aren t infallible, we make errors of all kinds, from over taxation to
unjust wars, but rather than halt progress in humandevelopment, we continue and
make adjustments because someone made light of the errors of the past II.5. The
second argument is the social influence. Being fallible, humanity makes mistakes, but
through making opinions public and actively improving our opinions through debate
and discussion, opinions are improved. Human beings are corrigible; we learn from
experience and interaction, as opinions are discussed and debated among people of...

It does nothing to silence an opposition to an ideal, rather it set it back as the time
spent censoring a voice or voices could have been spent determining a fallacy in logic
and determine if the truth was really the truth rather a false assumption.
Chapter 2 ends with Mills stating that authority has no place in Censorship as it s the
opinion itself that determines in credibility II.44. Mill s assumption can be
strengthened with Socrates prosecution and similar reformers later in the Chapter.
As progressive as Mill s essay is towards the need for freedom of speech, Mill s is
still unclear on areas of dissent. He makes a good argument that we need to listen
to dissent but he also discusses the idea that we are all defined by our Era s. Mill s
makes the case that not just individuals were wrong but entire Epoch s of history
made some disastrous decisions. We can t use that as the standard for opinions not to
be heard, but how can we trust our mode of thinking, according to him only time can
How Does Stooddard Reveal The Truth
Tom doesn t say anything because he knows that Stoddard is grounded in his beliefs
and believes that the town can turn around with the help of his ideals
Stoddard doesn t reveal the truth because it would be detrimental to his campaign.
Not only is he not the man that shot vance, which would ruin his clout, but now he is
the man that lied about killing a man, that would now ruin his reputation as a
politician.
This film has an interesting moral complexity to it. Stoddard is inspired to handle
his opposition with Vance in a civil and legal matter, which many people would
consider noble and moral. However, when it comes to protecting his own self
interests (i.e. Haley and the nomination), Stoddard s morals and integrity become
rather flexible.

In the movie, Stoddard repeatedly contridicts himself and therefore perverts
justice.Stoddard contradicts himself and sends mixed signals by accepting a gun
from Peabody, after declaring Tom s advice to carry a gun, is exactly what Liberty

seemingly saying that he is above such things. Stoddard continues his
contradictions in the scene where Tom is showing Stoddard how to shoot, Tom
shoots a paint can and splatters paint all over Stoddards suit. Instead of containing
himself Ransom lashes out and punches Tom. Finally Stoddard s ethics, integrity,
and definition of justice is called into question with the stand off scene with
Liberty. Sotddard shows up to the standoff with guns blazing and is conveniently
devoid of talks of laws and ethics. In this scene Stoddard kills Valance, which under
laws of self defense, is justifiable. However, the arguments for Ransom cease as the
viewer considers that not only has Stoddard gone against his very vocal opposition
to guns, but now is also basing his entire campaign on a lie, that he in fact did not kill
The Consumer Federation Of America
Americans resoundingly reject non driving characteristics in determining auto
insurance rates.
If you re a low income American, chances are you re paying a lot more for auto
insurance than other citizens even if you have a similar driving record and address.
Those are the findings of the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) based on a
study released on Monday.
Low Income Status = Higher Insurance Premiums
The CFA evaluated minimum limits liability premiums shared by men and women
in 15 cities by five of the nation s largest auto insurers. Specifically, the CFA found
that premiums surged by an average of 59 percent, or $681 annually when
characteristics of the drivers were changed to denote a lower economic status. Auto
insurance is required in all states with New Hampshire the lone exception. Insurance
is regulated at the state level.
Insurance companies should judge you on how you drive, not who you are, said J.
Robert Hunter, CFA s Director of Insurance and former Texas Insurance
Commissioner. Insurance companies are penalizing good drivers by hundreds and
sometimes thousands of dollars each year based on economic and social status, and
the end result is that the poor pay more, much more.
Five Non Driving Factors Auto insurers use five factors when developing quotes for
consumers. They are: level of education, occupation, homeownership status,
ownership of a car during prior six months, and marital status.
The CFA found that drivers with the same driving
Most Important Factors of Tesco Essay
Most Important Factors of Tesco Tesco first launched their international expansion in
1994. After 11 years their sales have grown to contributing 20%(ВЈ7 billion) of the
total turnover has been from overseas sales. The success of Tesco expansion

They have recently put a five year ban on any new hypermarkets being build in the

Essay On Enlightenment.pdf

  • 1. Essay On Enlightenment Crafting an essay on the topic of "Essay On Enlightenment" is no simple task. It requires a deep understanding of the Enlightenment era, its philosophical underpinnings, historical context, and its impact on various aspects of society. The challenge lies not only in comprehending the complex ideas put forth by Enlightenment thinkers but also in articulating them coherently and critically analyzing their significance. Moreover, the topic itself is broad and multifaceted, encompassing diverse themes such as reason, liberty, progress, individualism, and the role of institutions. Navigating through this expansive terrain demands meticulous research, thoughtful reflection, and the ability to synthesize information from various sources. Furthermore, writing an essay on the Enlightenment necessitates grappling with contrasting perspectives and interpretations. Scholars have debated the nuances of Enlightenment thought, its successes, limitations, and its relevance in contemporary society. As such, presenting a nuanced argument that acknowledges different viewpoints while still advancing a coherent thesis adds another layer of complexity to the writing process. In addition to intellectual challenges, there are practical hurdles to overcome. Organizing ideas effectively, crafting a compelling introduction and conclusion, and maintaining a cohesive structure throughout the essay are essential yet demanding tasks. Despite these difficulties, delving into the topic of the Enlightenment can be intellectually rewarding. It offers an opportunity to engage with fundamental questions about the nature of human knowledge, society, and progress. By grappling with the complexities of this historical period, one gains insights that are relevant not only to the past but also to contemporary debates and dilemmas. In conclusion, tackling an essay on the Enlightenment is a formidable endeavor that requires diligence, critical thinking, and a willingness to engage with complex ideas. However, the process of wrestling with these challenges can lead to a deeper understanding of the subject matter and its implications for the present day. • 2. Conservation vs Preservation Conservation Versus Preservation Today, millions of acres of land in our nation have been fortunate enough to not be disrupted by the touch of man. Around the nation it is also always on debate about using the natural resources of those untouched lands to benefit the economy and man in some way. However, there are many who oppose doing this and there are also those who believe we should harness those resources, but in a way that is not damaging. These two beliefs are called conservation and preservation and are very different in the way people look at the land. Preservation refers to leaving the land and all the natural wildlife and plant life alone and not disturbing the natural beauty and natural cycle of life in the environment. ... Silverstein (2012), Democrats on the House Committee on Natural Resources, however, are taking a high profile position in opposition to what they say are watered down rules that allow natural gas producers to avoid publicly disclosing the chemicals they use to drill (para. 4). Preserving what natural land we have left now is very important and we should not let it be destroyed or even altered even the slightest in anyway. We have national forests like Bridger Teton to remind us of what the world use to be like to ensure that we maintain a healthy environment for the nation. Simply conserving them is not enough; we need to preserve them for generations to come so that wildlife may flourish and so that we are always reminded of how important our natural environment is. • 3. Kai Banfield s Three-Step Toy Box Kai Banfield, a geeky high school wrestler, had his room in the back of a house owned by his mom; it was a small isolated place. To the left of the door as it was entered was a three step toy box that could hold plenty of items. The steps had bins that slide in and out holding wires, skate parts, paintball gear, and old toys. The paintball gear bin appearing to be the only one with wear. Behind the steps was a wall made of brick. This was the only wall this way in the entire room. The whole room was painted a dull white with only 2 small windows making it feel as though it is isolated from the world. On the same wall as the door was immediately a large desktop tower that light up red. Right next to it was a shiny grey metal desk with two drawers attached. Above the desk was a matching book case mounted to the wall. It too had two pockets but these had hinges. On top of the desk lay a small monitor, keyboard, and mouse for the desktop. On the other side of the desk was a larger T.V. that was attached to his X Box One. The X Box One was laying under the desk on a white wire box with the cords organized under the bin and coming out of holes in the back of the wire bin. All of the technology was hooked up to two... At the dividing road between Tartarus, a place of torture in the underworld and the Isles of the Blest, a place for the good in the underworld, there are the Plains of Judgment. Awaiting the souls in the Plain of Judgment are Aeacus, Minos, and Rhadamanthys. These dead men, judge who goes to Tartarus, who goes to the Isles of the Blest or back to the Asphodel Fields if they were neither good or evil. These men were all sons of Zeus who were rewarded as judges in the underworld by creating the first just laws on Earth. Aeacus was king of Aegina during mortal life and was also known for making decisions for Zeus. After his death he became keeper of the keys of Hades and the judge of men of Europe in the Underworld. Minos was the King of Crete, and Rhadamanthys was his brother. They both lived in Asia during their mortal lives. After his death, Rhadamanthys became lord of the Isles of the Blest, and judge of the men of Asia. After Minos died he gained the responsibility of having the final judgment. • 5. Podcasts And Content Marketing Essay Content marketing began as a simple concept; one simply wrote blogs and articles related to specific products and/or services and promoted them; however, content creation in 2018 has come full circle. Businesses today have tried to keep up with content trends and have used different tools to promote content in 2018. Podcasts and Content Marketing One of these content trends is the use of podcasts. Keep in mind that podcasting has been used by many professions for quite some time now but its use in content marketing is relatively new. Podcasting is fast catching. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Format: Set up your basic show format. There is no right or wrong way to set up a podcast. The important thing is that you feel comfortable with the entire idea, flow, and format. Some podcasters ask questions from the listeners, others only provide a running commentary, and yet others wait until the end to answer questions. However, for effective content creation in 2018, it might be a good idea to interview an expert who answers relevant questions. This way you can provide your audience with a more credible source and you also don t have to answer every question that your audience may ask. Length: Remember, a podcast should not go on forever. Most people keep it for 45 60 minutes. This seems like an appropriate length because anything longer than this could bore your listeners and force them to sign off. Engaging the listeners: One of the most critical elements of a podcast is that it should have content that is both engaging and interesting for the audience. An effective way to do so is by picking up trending topics, invite guests and experts and keep the flow of information smooth and relevant. Your audience wants to learn something and they want to derive information from your podcast. You need to make sure you are able to provide the information. Therefore, your best content advice in 2018 is

Lily Cooke AP Lang Summer Dialectical Journal The Things They Carried Tim O Brien 1) They carried the soldier s greatest fear, which was the fear of blushing. Men killed, and died, because they were embarrassed not to. It was what had brought them to the war in the first place, nothing positive, no dreams of glory or honor, just to avoid the blush of dishonor. They died so as not to die of embarrassment (O Brien 20). This quote in the first chapter of the book sets the overall tone. Either choice that Jensen could ve made he takes all the blame. This proves how even though Jensen should be mourning the death of his friend; his first thought was that Strunk would ve ended up dead either way. This, in Dave Jensen s eyes, verifies that he did not make the wrong choice. O Brien quickly jumps to Strunk s death in this paragraph. At first, he describes Strunk being taken away by the helicopter and then straight after, this quote was written. Throughout this novel, O Brien s usage of language and his own style are concise and clear. He quickly jumps to Strunk s death because there was nothing else left to be said. The most important message to get across to the reader is the sense of guilt that 4) He was a slim, dead, almost dainty young man of about twenty. The other was a star shaped hole (O Brien 124). blinds the rest of the events and occurrences when at war. O Brien clearly shows the reader this when Dave Jensen was blinded by his own guilt and felt better when his friend passed away. I admired how O Brien in one simple quote said so much about how guilt controls a soldier during war. O Brien is

It was the same lady who had taken my order and made the same sandwich for me every week and sometimes more... for the last couple of years. I almost couldn t believe my ears as I replied saying, Are you serious? When? The Quiznosthat was once very close to my house in Idaho Falls was going under. It was the start of something that would truly prove to be detrimental to my physical and emotional well being. Now fast forward a couple of years. Imagine that you re in my shoes, with the knowledge that there is not a Quiznos in operation (that you know of) within 150 miles. Then you see it: the Quiznos sign. You walk up for a closer look, and find that the place is completely desolate. How would you feel? Would you ask yourself why? How? Because that is exactly what I did. So what is the most important thing in a restaurant? You d think it would be food. In a talk given by Thomas Keller, a restaurant owner, about what excellent food does to a restaurant, Mr. Keller talks a lot about the quality of food, and a customers experience. The experience that one has in a restaurant is something that should be completely about the consumer. If the consumer does not have a good experience at a restaurant, there is a good chance that he or she will not come back. The quality of the food at a restaurant can depend a lot on the quality of ingredients. It s important to always have the

However, for over a hundred years, artists and philosophers from all around the world, has never been certain of the true definition of Science Fiction. Although, individual definition of science fictionhas erupted in the few decades, especially during the 19th century, when the idea of extraterrestrial surged the media. Today, there are numerous definition of sciencefiction, each different from one another in its own element. The setting of the story itself is beyond the minds of normal people in 1944, and when the audience was exposed to it, the definition of sci fi was reshaped. It began with the colonization of humans on the planet of Jupiter, the largest planet, with great atmosphere pressure. Humans live inside a Dome, and can not explore beyond it, except if they turn themselves into another alien form. Many brave men have transformed themselves and walked out the dome, only to disappear and never return. Fowler, the head leader of the Dome has had enough, and decided to send himself and his puppy out. The story is considered a science fiction because of its imaginative concept of futuristic, space exploration and extraterrestrial life. On top of this, the story navigates through another planet, where humanity must adapt to the environment or die trying. The main theme in this story is persistence, never giving up no matter the circumstances or the difficulties. This is demonstrated throughout the whole story, for example, Stanley, the scientist said, You re going to keep on sentencing them to death, she said. You re going to keep marching them out face to face with Jupiter. You re going to sit in here safe and comfortable and send them out to die. This shows that lives after lives are being lost, but Fowler will never give up in find the answer. He said, If a few men die, but we finally succeed, the price is small. Through the ages men have thrown away their lives on foolish things, for foolish reasons. Why should we hesitate, then, at a little death in a thing as great as this? This demonstrates his hunger to finding the solution, the solution that will enable humanity to explore beyond inside the Dome. Fowler and his men are willing to continue sacrificing themselves because they know the price is worth it for the great evolution of mankind. The theme of the story,

Some obstacles are facile and are easy to overcome, but others are more laborious and require additional thinking. One thing that we know is that there is ice on Mars. However, the ice we know is not made up of water, but it consists of carbon dioxide. It also snows carbon dioxide. One clue of water is on some craters where you can see signs of water that has once gone down the slopes. When we are on Mars, we will need water. Our crew is planning to transport water from Earthto Mars. This water can be used for drinking and any other necessary things. The main weather on Mars is wind. Wind is formed when warm air rises and cool

Elements of Religion in the Renaissance Portrayed in Hamlet by William Shakespeare Literature of the Renaissance was far different from that of the previous eras. Man was now thought of as the center of life, as opposed to God being the center in earlier times. Also, man was thought to have free will over his life, not being simply a pawn of the Gods. These new ideals were presented in the theaters as well as written literature. The esteemed William Shakespeare incorporated many of these components into some of the greatest performed classics in the history of theater. Here human responsibility is obvious, defining the moral theory of the Renaissance. Act II Scene II contains a speech by Hamlet to Rosencrantz and Guidenstern that outlines the way man was viewed in Renaissance thinking. What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason, how infinite in faculty, in form and moving how express and admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like a god the beauty of the world, the paragon of animals! Even though Hamlet goes on to say that man delights not me , the speech still shows the Renaissance view on life. This ideal was evident in the work of earlier Renaissance writers such as Pico della Mirandola. In Pico s Oration on the Dignity of Man, the great miracle of humanity was discussed. There is nothing to be seen more wonderful than man. . .man is the intermediary between creatures, the intimate of the gods, the king of the lower beings, by the acuteness of his senses, by the discernment of his reason, and by the light of his intelligence. . . Also in Act II Scene II, the loveletter of Hamlet to Ophelia is being discussed by Claudius, Gertrude, and Polonious. Although thought of as a ploy by Hamlet to make everyone think he is mad, the first few lines may have some distinctive significance:
  • 14. Summary Of John KnowlesA Separate Peace According to a study by Dr. Bella DePaulo, people regularly lie in one of five of their interactions. This is very interesting considering that many people would say that honesty is one of the most important elements to any relationship. John Knowles noticed this contradiction and saw it as a problem, because he addresses it in A Separate Peacethrough Gene. Gene avoids confronting and speaking about issues and tells lies in hopes of not hurting himself and those around him, which all eventually leads to Finny s permanent crippling, and then his death. Through Gene, Knowles emphasizes the importance of appropriate communication, one of the most substantial parts of a healthy human connection, because it can resolve conflicts before they even happen. Gene s inability to confront people about his feelings leads to bigger conflicts down the road and teaches readers that expression of feeling can eradicate future conflicts. Gene s deceit and inner conflict starts when Finny and Gene are on the beach together. When Finny tells Gene that he is his best friend, Gene does not answer and reflects, I should have told him then that he was my best friend also and rounded off what he had said (Knowles 48). When he says that he should have rounded off what he had said, it implies regret that he did not. Maybe this does not directly lead to the accident or Finny s death, but this could have been a starting point for Gene. If he could have learned to speak up earlier on, then the idea

If you commit any of these sins, you are doomed to hell and and an agonizing death. While most religious people avoid the sins like the plague and see most people as good samaritans, some see the sins in everyone they encounter like it s written all over their face. Se7en, by David Fincher, explores what happens when the people who see the sins in everyone decides to act on their views. Writers of the film used the serial killer genre because it s easy to grab people s attention and convey the message that the world is a cruel place with many issues. If the movie weren t sheltered with a simple slasher flick cover, it would instantly become contentious, and many wouldn t want to squabble with a movie telling the viewer about how religion isn t perfect. Among other options, the debate of how Se7en is representation of violence in practicing religion changes how many people alter their views of what is right and wrong. Most people overlook the wrongdoings of the world and turn the other cheek. In the film, the killer John Doe sees himself as a good person performing God s work for him by acting on his feelings and not turning the other cheek. This suggests that killing people because they re doing God s work is okay because they have religion to blame for their reasoning. One of John Doe s final speeches is him trying to justify why he went on a killing spree, and he justifies his actions by saying, Only in a world this shitty could you even try to say these were innocent people and keep a straight face. But that s the point. We see a deadly sin on every street corner, in every home, and we tolerate it. We tolerate it because it s common, it

His themes often center on the inherent evil and sin of humanity, and his works often have moral messages and deep psychological complexity. If it be as thou sayest, replied Goodman Brown, I marvel they never spoke of these matters. Or, verily, I marvel not, seeing that the last rumor of the sort would have driven them from New England (612). As the story continues Goodman has an internal battle, he is trying not to continue through the dark forest, the only think that is giving him the strength to get out from there is the memory of his wife Faith. When he lifted his hands to pray, a cloud appeared upon his head, then he heard a voice uttering lamentations, it came from a woman, it was Faith s voice. Then he heard a new scream from the same voice that drowned immediately into a louder murmur of voices, fading into far off laughter, as the dark cloud swept away. Those other voices were the voices of the unseen multitude, both saints and sinners which encourage Brown s faith to disappear. My Faith is gone! cried he,

However, monogamy behaviours were not found in experimental laboratory species such as rats and mice. However, pair bonding in monogamous species has been associated with prairie voles(Carter, DeVries Getz, 1995). Identifying maternal bonding from pair bonding by blocking oxytocin receptors that inhibit maternal bonding in female prairie voles found that maternal bond inhibits partner preference and pair bonding (Carter, DeVries Getz, 1995; Stoop, 2012). Identifying high levels of oxytocin in the prefrontal cortex and the nucleus accumbens in the prairie vole, suggests that neuropeptides influence the pathways that are involved in reward (Stoop, 2012) and reinforcement, therefore, control the process of social information. Increased levels of vasopressin increased bonding in voles(Carter, DeVries Getz, 1995). Blocking of vasopressin receptor V1aR in voles showed a reduced time in social interaction. However, blocking V1aR in mice had a severe social impairment as they showed no general recollection of previous interaction with other mice. These experiments give reason to suggest that there are distinct roles for oxytocin and vasopressin between species, implying that genetic variation and vasopressin influences social behaviours, combined with oxytocin indicate how modulation of social behaviour occurs. She has not been feeling like her usual self, and no longer enjoys the things she use to enjoy. She also has anxiety when it comes to social situation. Magda lives in a country that does not recognize depression as a valid illness, and there is stigma she would have to deal with if she sought medical treatment. I will be using the Self Regulatory Model (SRM) and additional information to help explain why Magda has not sought help for her mental illness, and how she could use SRM to seek help. Before I begin, I would like to define what depression is and what depression is not. Depression is defined as feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. (American Psychiatric Association, 2017). Depression is not just being sad for a day. To diagnose someone with depression an individual must have the symptoms related to depression for more than two weeks (American Psychiatric Association, 2017). Depression is not being able to enjoy or do the things you use to do. It is a valid illness. Now that I have defined what I mean by depression, I will get to my point. Mental illness is a controversial subject. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) (2015), 1in 5 adults in the USA suffer from some form of mental illness. That s roughly 40 million adults. You probably know someone who suffers from a mental illness, or you yourself

Moral relativism is the belief that moral principles depends on cultural acceptance, or a subjective point of view. We get to see how subjective it can be reading Henrik Ibsen s play, The Enemy of the People (Pojman 166). The play is about a doctor (Stockman) in a Norwegian town, who learns that the water used in the towns baths is contaminated. Dr. Stockman feels morally obligated to inform people of his findings. His brother Peter, is the town s mayor. Peter does not think the people need to know about the water and warns his brother to keep silent. Dr. Stockman rejects his brother s warnings. Doing so, results in the doctor becoming an outcast. I can imagine the dilemma that the doctor faced. He is aware of the revenue that the baths generate for his hometown. Yet, he is also ethically responsible as a doctor to notify citizen about the harm that the baths will cause. I was surprised at the people s response to the doctor. He tells them the truth, but they reject it. Their actions highlight some issues of moral relativism. The two brothers are examples of how personal opinions and self interest determine our moral outlook. Stockman is looking at his moral obligation from a doctor point of view. He is concerned with public health. Peter is looking from a mayor point of view. He is concerned about the towns economy and his reputation. The brothers meet to discuss the problem. Peter

The aims were in terms of pupils attitudes towards technology (as related in many papers, e.g. de Vries, 1994; Jones, 1997; Compton amp; Jones, 1998; Gardner amp; Hill, 1999; Dugger, 2000) and in terms of the social and professional world of industrial production (this idea can also be found in many papers
  • 31. Exposure to Violence and Videogames Intro paragraph: Many teenagers who are around my age have been born into and raised in a generation where violence is idolized in video games and in the media. Although parents monitor and guide their children, [the] media is everywhere. TV, Internet, computer and video games all vie for our children s attention] and often times are the sole free time activity (American Academy of Pediatrics). As media monopolizes the adolescent generation, society has begun to look at the effects it may have especially material that promotes violence. Although much of this violence is fictional, it still been found that violence in the media has many negative effects on developing children and even grown adults ( CITATION NEEDED). Based on the research conducted on the effects of violence in the media, society and especially children should not be exposed to violence in video games and the media. This opinion is congruent with the Catholic Church. 1st Paragraph: Both, the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Palo Alto Medical Foundation have delved into the issue on whether young children and adolescents should be exposed to violence in video games and the media, gaining much research through the use of multiple case studies. The results of these case studies were very similar, being consistently negative for both organizations. A Pew Research Center survey, in 2008, found that half of all teens reported playing a video game yesterday, and those who played every day
  • 32. Personal Health Behaviors And Religious Prohibition Of... 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background Personal health behaviours are activities that heighten risk of disease or promote the maintenance of health. They consist of two broad classes of behaviour: 1) Health risk behaviours, or activities carried out with a frequency or intensity that increases risk of disease or injury; these include cigarette smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, certain sexual behaviours and drink driving. 2) Positive health behaviours, or activities that may help prevent disease and injury, detect disease and disability at an early stage, or enhance health; regular physical activity, avoidance of fat in the diet, eating fruit and fibre, and breast and testicle self examination, all fall into this category. (1) Personal health behaviours are thought to play a key role in determining the prevalence of diseases of major socio economic impact throughout the world, including cardiovascular diseases, cancers and accidents. (2) Personal health behaviours are determined by a wide variety of factors, including socio cultural influences (e.g. dietary traditions and religious prohibition of alcohol), legislation (e.g. laws restricting the purchase of tobacco and the use of seat belts), macroeconomics (e.g. disposable income and taxation on cigarettes), health care provision (e.g. occupational health checks and free dental care), systems of provision of goods and services (e.g. availability of sporting facilities and low fat foods), and socio demographic factors (age,

No one releases that doing something so harmful to one s body and self esteem is a way of escaping life. When it comes to Aboriginal healing there has to be a self discovery of mind, body, spirit, and emotional health that needs to be aligned before an addict can fight off the demons (White Bison, 2002). Addictions often begin with trying to coping stated above with a high level of stress, pain (emotional and physically), and even mental illnesses that have or haven t been a diagnosis. Living within a community that is lost many people can t get out of the destructive circle. Having parents not being around because they are working on addiction themselves allows for children to become lost or even accept that this is where they will stay for the rest of their lives. • 34. Thinking, Fractions And Decimals Are Extremely Important... Multiplicative thinking, fractions and decimals are extremely important areas of mathematics children are required to develop. The concepts within these three areas are related and it is critical for educators to support these relationships in the classroom. Multiplicative thinking involves recall of basic facts, the relationship between multiplicationand divisionand underpins the development of fractions. Comprehension of fractions includes the division of objects, fractions as numbers, the multiple ways equal fractions can be represented, as well as being represented as decimals. Place value is a very important underpinning concept of decimals. Place value aids the ability to read, write and work with decimals. There are a numberof difficulties children can come across when developing these concepts and relationships. With a vast mathematical content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge educators can provide effective instruction to help children over come their difficulties. Developing a deep understanding of multiplicative thinking, fractions and decimals will assist children in later mathematics. To become a multiplicative thinker the ability to recall basic multiplication facts and understanding of the relationship between multiplication and division must be developed. If children do not develop the ability to recall basic multiplication facts they can be in danger of developing negative feelings towards mathematics and becoming withdrawn (Booker, Bond,
  • 35. Physical Therapists And Physical Therapy Essay Physical therapists have become a highly respected and necessary part of the healthcare team, yet the process of becoming a physical therapist has become increasingly challenging. Physical therapy students must maintain a high GPA in order to remain in highly competitive doctoral programs and must also successfully complete several clinical experiences over the course of, on average, three years. For many students, their first clinical experience can be very intimidating because it will be the first time they have been in a type of setting other than the classroom. Often times, they will have no idea what to expect or how to prepare. Physical therapists also have the additional challenges of dealing with drastic changes in the profession that include the disparities in healthcare, escalating healthcare costs, and the demand for more efficient and cost effective practice (Hayward et al., 2013). The scope of physical therapypractice is also evolving to include direct access as the norm in all 50 states, including Washington D.C. This change requires ever growing autonomy and clinical decision making skills for all physical therapists (Hayward et al., 2013). Clinical affiliations are an integral part of the doctor of physical therapy (DPT) education. Currently, all physical therapy students in the United States will graduate with a doctoral degree. Along with this relatively new advancement in the field, it is the expectation that entry level physical therapists are

There is an important thinking style that every single student should learn is named critical thinking. People can learn it by applying this approach to education. Tim van Gelder mentions that the fundamental aim of education is to enhance thinking skills, especially critical thinking skills. He also presses about the necessity of this thinking because many students accept hypothesis without criticisizing and comparing it with others. (41). As he said, critical thinking, at any level, is needed in education. Besides, this is an issue mostly neglected because it is hard to apply in education because human beings are not natural critics. As long as some knowledges make sense to people, they usually do not make any effort in questioning these knowledges. Thats why learning critical thinking is not easy that can be done in a couple weeks. Van Gelder also supports this idea by saying Although it can be seem quite basic, it actually is a complicated process. ( van Gelder, 42 ). He means learning critical thinking by saying it. Thinking and questioning pushes the limits of mind and increases creativity. Creativity improves art and science. In that sense, the approach of teaching how to think improves creativity. Importance of creativity in education has been pointed in many academic articles. To give an example, Mark A. Runco from Psychology Department in California State University said :

The National Alliance on Mental Illness says the leading cause of people committing suicideis untreated depression, but only half of all Americans experiencing an episode of major depression receive treatment ( Causes ). The other common causes of suicide are other mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, postpartum depression, PTSD, or others similar. Today, it is a constant battle to find ways to prevent suicide more efficiently. To break down why people commit suicide, in a social aspect, sociologist David Emile Durkheim, broke it into four different terms of situations that are called: egoistic, altruistic, anomic, and fatalistic. Durkheim says, Egoistic suicide occurs in a society where there is excessive individualism, that is, low social interaction ( Altruistic ). This means there is little interaction between the individual and a cohesive social group that could give the individual a feel of purpose in their life. People with more interaction create goals, values, and bonds with people around them in a social group that increases their

An object undergoes oscillation when it experiences a restoring force which restores this object to equilibrium positon. The Simple harmonic oscillation occurs when the net force on an object along the direction of motion is proportional to the object s displacement and in the opposite direction by this equation F = kx. In addition, an object whose position time graph makes a sine or cosine function is in simple harmonic motion. This type of relation is called Hooke s law. It looks indisputable that although the specific reasons that set forth the scramble were wide ranged throughout the continent the action was determined by a state of the expanding international economic and political rivalry caused by the unequal growth of industrial capitalism. The discovery of large deposits of diamonds in 1868 and gold on the Witwatersrand in 1886 led to a vast influx of White settlers from Britain and other European states into South Africa and gave further motivation to the Scramble for Africa among the European powers. The second argument is the social influence. Being fallible, humanity makes mistakes, but through making opinions public and actively improving our opinions through debate and discussion, opinions are improved. Human beings are corrigible; we learn from experience and interaction, as opinions are discussed and debated among people of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It does nothing to silence an opposition to an ideal, rather it set it back as the time spent censoring a voice or voices could have been spent determining a fallacy in logic and determine if the truth was really the truth rather a false assumption. Chapter 2 ends with Mills stating that authority has no place in Censorship as it s the opinion itself that determines in credibility II.44. Mill s assumption can be strengthened with Socrates prosecution and similar reformers later in the Chapter. As progressive as Mill s essay is towards the need for freedom of speech, Mill s is still unclear on areas of dissent. He makes a good argument that we need to listen to dissent but he also discusses the idea that we are all defined by our Era s. Mill s makes the case that not just individuals were wrong but entire Epoch s of history made some disastrous decisions. We can t use that as the standard for opinions not to be heard, but how can we trust our mode of thinking, according to him only time can

How Does Stooddard Reveal The Truth Tom doesn t say anything because he knows that Stoddard is grounded in his beliefs and believes that the town can turn around with the help of his ideals Stoddard doesn t reveal the truth because it would be detrimental to his campaign. Not only is he not the man that shot vance, which would ruin his clout, but now he is the man that lied about killing a man, that would now ruin his reputation as a politician. This film has an interesting moral complexity to it. Stoddard is inspired to handle his opposition with Vance in a civil and legal matter, which many people would consider noble and moral. However, when it comes to protecting his own self interests (i.e. Haley and the nomination), Stoddard s morals and integrity become rather flexible. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the movie, Stoddard repeatedly contridicts himself and therefore perverts justice.Stoddard contradicts himself and sends mixed signals by accepting a gun from Peabody, after declaring Tom s advice to carry a gun, is exactly what Liberty Valance he goes on to further differentiate himself by saying He is a lawyer , seemingly saying that he is above such things. Stoddard continues his contradictions in the scene where Tom is showing Stoddard how to shoot, Tom shoots a paint can and splatters paint all over Stoddards suit. Instead of containing himself Ransom lashes out and punches Tom. Finally Stoddard s ethics, integrity, and definition of justice is called into question with the stand off scene with Liberty. Sotddard shows up to the standoff with guns blazing and is conveniently devoid of talks of laws and ethics. In this scene Stoddard kills Valance, which under laws of self defense, is justifiable. However, the arguments for Ransom cease as the viewer considers that not only has Stoddard gone against his very vocal opposition to guns, but now is also basing his entire campaign on a lie, that he in fact did not kill

Those are the findings of the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) based on a study released on Monday. Low Income Status = Higher Insurance Premiums The CFA evaluated minimum limits liability premiums shared by men and women in 15 cities by five of the nation s largest auto insurers. Specifically, the CFA found that premiums surged by an average of 59 percent, or $681 annually when characteristics of the drivers were changed to denote a lower economic status. Auto insurance is required in all states with New Hampshire the lone exception. Insurance is regulated at the state level. Insurance companies should judge you on how you drive, not who you are, said J. Robert Hunter, CFA s Director of Insurance and former Texas Insurance Commissioner. Insurance companies are penalizing good drivers by hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars each year based on economic and social status, and the end result is that the poor pay more, much more. Five Non Driving Factors Auto insurers use five factors when developing quotes for consumers. They are: level of education, occupation, homeownership status, ownership of a car during prior six months, and marital status. The CFA found that drivers with the same driving
