Jardim Gramacho Essay
The upper class society of Brazil gives Jardim Gramacho a bad name, one that Muniz disputes,
emphasizing it as a place for the lower class. Jardim Gramacho is seen as a place for people of
low quality and for the those who have nothing to lose or left to give, but by Muniz using the
garbage and other materials found around Jardim Gramacho, he displays how beautiful this
wasteland is and how important the people who live there are. When talking to his wife Muniz
says, Check out the geography of this thing. This is the end of the line, this is where everything
that is not good goes. Including the people. (Wasteland) By saying this Muniz is implying that
living in Jardim Gramacho is depicted as a negative place and people that are not fortunate to
have money or have nothing left to live for are condemned to living there and are seen by the
outside society as bad or worthless lives. The reason fom Muniz creating his sculptures out of
the garbage from Jardim Gramacho is to show that there is something beautiful within the
garbage which is the people. For example, one of the sculptures Muniz creates is of a man named
Zumbi. The sculpture shows Zumbi smiling throwing grain out of one of the bag that the packers
carry around. In the documentary Zumbi says, Before coming to the land field we had an easy
life. (Wasteland) He talks about how is parents were still alive and together and how life was
good. Then one day his father died and he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Advantages And Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of...
What is communication? We often define communication as the act of talking to one another via
different platforms, be it face to face, via emails or even through videos. Through this act, we are
trying to pass a message or relate something to the intended audience. We face this every day in
our lives, even if we do not leave the house and talk to anyone. For example, even reading a
cooking recipe is counted as a form of communication. It is a form of communication between the
reader and the writer. The reader is trying to comprehend and follow the steps given by the writer
whereas the writer would be writing in a form whereby the steps is simple yet precise. So here are
some advantages and disadvantages of ineffective communication. For advantages,... Show more

Many people would know of this unfortunate incident, but not many would know that it was
probably the cause of an ineffective communication. The incident goes as follows, In July of
1945, the allied leaders had a meeting in Potsdam and they submitted a stiffly worded declaration
of surrender terms to the Japanese. These terms had included a statement to the effect that any
negative answer would invite prompt and utter destruction. The allied leaders (Harry S Truman,
Winston Churchill and Stalin) also stated that they hoped that Japan would agree to surrender
unconditionally and prevent devastation of the Japanese homeland and that they patiently
awaited Japan s answer. This was known as the Potsdam Declaration. The Japanese Premier at
that time, Kantaro Suzuki answered using the Japanese word mokusatsu , which is derived from
the word for silence . Yet, this word had a second meaning which also means not worthy of
comment . In the heat of the moment, the meaning was thought to be the second one, which may
be true as the Japanese were very prideful, as we can see from the Kamikaze spirit. To rather die
than be captured. After the allied leaders knew of this reply, ten days later the atomic bomb was

Clark Terry Research Paper
Clark Terry was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 14th, 1920; he was the seventh out of
eleven children. He was a classic freelance musician, his career spans more than 70 years. During
this time he created a name for himself that will forever cement him along with the legends like
Duke Ellington and Miles Davis. Mr. Clark was a man of many talents and during his time on this
earth he was became a world class trumpeter, flugelhornist, educator, composer, writer, trumpet

of the most important thing he has was the respect of his peers who saw him as an inventive
improviser with a graceful and ebullient style, traces of which can be heard in the playing of
Miles Davis, Wynton Marsalis and others (KEEPNEWS). Anyone listening to him now would
know him as the man who had a very unique way of warming up for practice. The vocal numbers
where peppered his performances with a unique brand of scat singing the noises as well as
nonsense syllables took the place of words. It was an off the cuff recording of one such song,
released in 1964 under the name Mumbles, that became his signature song which is why I believe
his death was felt more by the many Jazz artists than that of the general public. I also believe it
wasn t as big of a deal because many do not give Jazz the respect it deserves due to the era of
smooth/soft Jazz taking over. Clark Terry as I have said earlier created a legacy for himself that any
musician would be happy to have as a teacher

Genetic Testing or Genetic Screening
Genetic testing, also known as screening, is a rapidly advancing new scientific field that can
potentially revolutionize not only the world of medicine, but many aspects of our lives. Genetic
screening is the sequencing of human DNA in order to discover genetic differences, anomalies, or
mutations that may prove pathological. As genetic screening becomes more advanced and easily
accessible, it presents society with difficult questions that must be asked about the boundaries of
science and to what degree we are allowed to tamper with the human genome. To better understand
the potential impact of genetic screening on our society, we must examine the potential benefits in
comparison to the possible negative impact it may cause. With this... Show more content on

335). There are many reasons to support further research into genetic screening but
unfortunately such a complicated and controversial field also brings up ethical, legal and social
issues that need to be addressed. One of the greatest issues surrounding genetic screening is one
of privacy and potential discrimination. Some people fear that a predictive test that shows
someone is at higher risk of developing a particular condition can be used against said person.
Employers could become interested in knowing the probabilities of their workers developing
chronic conditions, which might lead to hiring discrimination. Genetic predispositions towards
certain diseases could also be used to deny health insurance to some individuals. This may seem
unlikely but it is an issue that definitely warrants concern. Brynne Stainsby s father was
diagnosed with the gene that causes degenerative brain disorder, meaning she had one in two
odds of developing Huntington s disease. When preparing to start her own chiropractic practice
she learned that it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get covered if she possesses
this same gene. Simply coming from a family that was predisposed to Huntington s disease was
enough to disqualify her from life or disability insurance. Many people find it hard to believe that
such discrimination could occur in a country as

The Pros And Cons Of Firearm Control
At this current time, a war is being waged; A war over firearms, and the restrictions that should
be placed upon them. This war , more so called a debate, is over the well known topic, firearm
control. Firearm control is a daily topic in the government and a well known topic among the
citizens as well (Dilascio). With many people as well as positions protecting both sides of the
debate, People tend to use repetitively common defense for harsh firearmcontrol as well as help
bring the points against firearm control to light. The two tightly intertwined topics firearm control
and firearm violence are hot debate topics in today s media and government. Since these topics are
so prominent in today s society, it is vital that loose topics that barely relate to defense be brought
to light. A lot of citizens are ignorant to many topics about firearms and how they work, often
relying on information gathered from others instead of information obtained through their own
means. Firearm control may reduce overall violence, but impedes on the Second Amendment and
self protection. Firearms are often referred to as the root of all violence and crime. Although, in
particular, it is said that firearms are a leading cause of biracial violence (French). It is a common
defense that firearms cause racial violence and hence should be put under harsher laws, but this is
a misconception. Firearms are not a cause of racial violence, but instead an effect of it. The
existence of firearms did not

community has built me piece by piece to who I am today. As stated by Dorothy Height, without
community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It s important to the person who

Why You Should Start Shopping For A New Vehicle
With all the new 2008 vehicles rolling onto the car dealership lots, it s hard not to start thinking
about trading in your wheels for a newer model. Before taking the plunge, consider these tips for
getting the best deal. Time is on Your Side There are certain times of the year that are better than
others for snagging a great deal on a new vehicle. It just depends on what your goals are. If your
goal is to trade up to a 2008 model, the best time to do this is in the spring of 2008. Most
dealerships will still have plenty of brand new, never been driven vehiclesout on the lot. If you re
simply looking to trade up, then you should start shopping for a 2007 model now. Any models
from last year that haven t sold will be deeply discounted to make room for next year s model.
Shopping during different months can also yield surprisingly deep discounts. For example,
November is historically the slowest month for vehicles sales, new or used. Since the majority of
Americans are focused on planning for the holidays, sales slow down significantly. Sales people
are more likely to come to their bottom dollar negotiating figure more quickly during November,
thereby making negotiations easier on you. Generally, shopping in the early winter months right
after the holidays is also a good time to snag deals. If that is not enough, the day of the month you
choose to shop can also pay off. The closer to the end of the month you can shop, the better your
deal will be. This is because the

Turkmen Energy Relations With China And Russia
Turkmen Energy Relations with China and Russia
Historically in the Russian sphere of influence, since the breakup of the Soviet Union, just like the
rest of Central Asia, Turkmenistan has found itself in the middle of Sino Russian confrontation over
the question of who is the new regional powerhouse.
Due to the shared Russian imperial and then Soviet past, the Russian influence the Turkman society
was prevalent after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Pipelines carried Turkmen gas to Russia and
then from Russia to Western markets. Turkmens had no alternative, all of Turkmen gas from the
Dauletabad field was exported through the Soviet era Central Asia Center Pipeline System which
was built between 1960 and 1988 and carried gas from Turkmen and Uzbek fields to a hub on the
Russian Kazakh border called Alexandrov Gai and then linked to the Russian pipeline network.
Initially Russia bought the Turkmen gas at a very cheap rate and then resold it to the European
markets at a price several times higher than what it paid the Turkmens. In March of 2008,
following a meeting in Moscow between Gazprom and top energy officials from the region it was
announced that beginning in 2009 the sale of natural gas will be made at European prices; however,
Turkmens in particular had already realized the need for diversification.
Turkmens started looking for alternatives to their export routes and one of the main directions they
looked toward was the east, at the new rising dragon, China. The

Social Perceptions Of Csr Line Up With Their Concurrent...
This research has primarily emphasized the importance of CSR to both individuals and the
community at large, but one question remains underexplored: how do consumer perceptions of
CSR line up with their concurrent expectations from the company? The literature shows little
agreement; definitions are murky and left to individualized scholars, and evaluation of company s
efforts, as previously discussed, are difficult to present to major shareholders within a company, to
say nothing of informing consumers. Consumer Perceptions Those who are being served (i.e.
shareholders or high need populations) are the ones who know the most regarding the importance
of CSR initiative, and those who don t know often don t because barriers to entry are... Show more

Walther et al. (2010) presented an interesting caveat to this discussion of consumer population
makeup, with consumers both informed and casual responding to cues at the point of sale.
However, this study forms a stopgap towards a truly symbiotic relationship with consumers. As
with major issues in society, a major panacea exists in the form of proper education. A recent
study showed that sound and informative communication channels based in information
stemming from food purchases could effectively induce consumers to consider brands actively
participating in CSR initiative (Devviney et al., 2010). Mohr et al. (2001) executed interviews to
investigate what consumers believe to be the real motives of firms to engage in CSR. Mohr et
al. created four categories of company motives based on the answers of the respondents: (1)
rewards sought for the firm itself, (2) rewards sought mostly for the firm but partly for others,
(3) rewards sought mostly for others but partly for the firm, and (4) rewards sought solely for
others (p. 59). The results of Mohr et al. (2001) indicate that only 7% (3 out of 41 respondents)
considers the motives of the firm to be truly altruistic. 29%, almost one third, believes that firms
only incorporate CSR out of totally self interested behavior. However, most of the respondents
believe that there are mixed motives as to why firms engage in CSR. A consumer s perception on

The Pros And Cons Of Hybrid Vehicles
Abstract
The Hybrid vehicle concept nowadays is on the path of becoming one of the brightest stars in the
foreseeable future. Environmental issues that beset the world today such as Global Warming, entail
many long term negative effects which in turn, must not only be solved through short term
solutions but also be countered with long term solutions that will benefit not just the future of
society, but the future of planet earth and the well being of its inhabitants. In response to this global
crisis, various industries and institutions are now searching for alternative energy sources such as
the Hybrid vehicle. The Hybrid vehicle seeks to reduce carbon emissions and reliance on petroleum
and diesel by substituting majority of the powertrain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Toyota introduced the first modern production hybrid vehicle, the Prius in Japan in 1997, and
Toyota and Honda introduced hybrids to the US in 1999 and 2000. Both manufacturers use the
same hybrid powertrain design, an input power split system.
Fuel economy
Hybrid systems can increase fuel economy and reduce CO2 emissions by 35%. The precise
reduction varies with the technology and capability of the system. The reduction can be hard to
quantify as there is no direct comparable non hybrid vehicle. A study done by Vincentric on
October 2014 which compared 31 hybrids to the closest non hybrids provides a direct comparison
of the efficiency benefits and cost of hybrid systems.
Basics of Hybrid vehicle technology
A traditional vehicle has a mechanical drive train which includes combustion engine, fuel tank,
gearbox, transmission and the wheels. A Hybrid vehicle has two drive trains a mechanical and an
electric. The electric drivetrain includes a battery and an electric motor. In principle these two
drivetrains should be connected together sharing some components such as transmission and

management is a process of transitioning individuals, groups of organizations to the expected future

It is considered that major change is never successful unless the complacency level is low.
However, change is a common thread that runs through all organizations regardless of size of the
organization, industry or history. The key part of managing change depends on how far the people
within it understand the process of change. Change is a constant feature of organizational life and

Status Of Women In Victorian England Essay
We certainly can t pick our families, though I am sure many of us have had thoughts of what life

let their circumstances dictate what they become, but those striving to attain a higher status will
usually find a way to change their circumstances if possible. One great example would be of
women in Victorian England. Women during this era were given no legal status whatsoever.

Surprise, Security, And The American Experience
Review of surprise, security, and the American experience
There are a lot of things analyze the shifts in American foreign policy have been written before
the famous day America lose it sense of security Sept 11. Thing like news reports, articles and
books. Theses are some of those books :Rogue Nation, The Bubble of American Supremacy, Top
Secret America: The Rise of the New American Security State.
There are some books who are against America that don t hesitate to compare it to evil countries
like Germany during ww2. Then there are book that claim that the CIA was actually behind the 9

analyze America foreign policy in its real context and without any unwanted criticism. The author is
John Lewis Gaddis, a historian of the cold war, who taught at Ohio University and Yale.
Now in Surprise, Security, and the American Experience, there were three big shifts in the history
of united states foreign policy, each one was by a surprise attack on America. The first one happen
when the British sacked Washington on August 24, 1814. This exposure of America led John

Political Parties And The Uk
What is the purpose of political parties in the UK?
The purpose of political parties in the UK is to ensure political choice for example choosing
different leaders, ideas and policies. Another purpose that political parties in the UK attempt to
ensure that will be covered during this essay is political participation as parties are a way to be
involved in the process without other than voting. Parties also have a similar recruitment to that of
the PM this means that parties are like training roles. Parties also have several functions in the
UK such as a direct channel of communication between leaders and supporters this purpose is
very valuable when party leaders attempt to get views and policies across. They also provide
accountability because they show who is in charge of the parties this helps the voters and
supporters understand who is in control. I will look into these points as a way to show the purpose
of political parties and look to further on these points in detail and describe in depth.
A main purpose of political parties in the UK is political choice which means that political parties
enforce the ability to choose between various leaders, ideas and policies. This is in turn influences
the backbone of the political parties and therefore shapes the future of them without political choice
parties would be run not by the people the public want but by people placed into these roles. This in

Analysis Of A Rose For Emily By Faulkner
In A Rose for Emily, Faulkner aims to commemorate Emily Grierson by illustrating the past
events throughout her life. Through Faulkner s perspective, Emily begins her life as a normal
girl who had high hopes and definite goals to find love; however, Emily experiences several
hardships during her youth that severely alters the person she hopes to become and signifies
herself as an object of pity. Faulkner subtly reveals her pity and regret towards Emily through the
portrayal of the toxic relationship she has with Homer. It is evident in the story that Emily is
whole heartedly incapable of letting Homer leave her. When Homer meets Emily, he seemingly
fills a void that she has been enduring since her father died. In response to being sheltered... Show

In the same way that Emily s father regulated her own life, she expresses this same control over
Homer in hopes of maintaining her newfound happiness. The narrator affirms one aspect of
control that Emily expresses: ...within three days Homer Barron was back in town. A neighbor
saw the Negro man admit him at the kitchen door at dusk one evening. And that was the last we
saw of Homer Barron (Faulkner 82). In this scenario, Emily illustrates her inability to let Homer
leave her by forcing him at her house. Irrational control cannot be present in order for a healthy,
productive relationship. Even worse, readers discover at the end of the story that Emily is
satisfied when she finally achieves full control over Homer. The narrator exclaims, The man
himself lay in the bed. For a long while we just stood there, looking down at the profound and
fleshless grin (Faulkner 83). Emily, who is never satisfied with her control over Homer, did the
one thing she thought was best in order to make him a part of her life forever. Faulkner considers
Emily a subject of pity because she feels she had to go to extremities murdering her true love to

Mary Warren In The Crucible
In the Crucible there are a group of girls that go into the woods. They dance, chant, and some of
them even took there clothes off. They were caught by Reverend Parris. He wasn t sure on what
to think of it so he left it alone until that morning his daughter Betty was in bed sick. Parris and
some others began to investigate the girls, because they expected witchcraft. There are many
people in this tale that I could talk about, but the one I have chosen is Mary Warren. The reason
for this is because in my opinion she really helped bring the story to the conclusion that it did.
Whether she meant to, or not. She also had a change of heart in the play, more than once. So
now we shall indulge ourselves into the significance of this character and what role she truly
plays. Mary Warren is a young girl, 18 years of age. She lived as a servant to John and Elizabeth
Procter. She is one of the many girls that went into the woods to dance . After the girls were
caught they tried to take the attention of of themselves and put it on others. This caused a big

The Bitter Taste Of Vanilla
As the bitter taste of vanilla extract went down my throat, I wondered how exactly I let this
person fool me. The person in question was my oldest sister. I was around 9 at the time. My
parents were out, leaving my older siblings to watch my 10 year old sister and me. My sister had
convinced us that vanilla extract tasted just vanilla cake. Since both of us were fans of cake, we
were excited to drink it. I should have seen the warning signs. She told us that if we didn t like
it, we were not allowed to spit it out or get a drink of water. We still stupidly agreed to do it. I
took a swig of the extract and immediately spit it out. My sister made me drink more of it. It
burned my mouth and left me in tears. After this horrific incident, my other sister, who had
managed to drink it without problem, and I consoled each other. My sister does not remember this,
but I do and it taught me an important message. Never give anyone, including family, your full trust

Medical Care Cost Essay
Healthcare is expensive, that s just a fact of life, right? Well, most other countries don t bankrupt
their citizens for breaking their arm or getting sick. It seems everyday the cost of medical care is
rising in America. In 2012, 51 Million Americans were covered by Medicare, costing them
roughly $574 Billion dollars. It is speculated that, in 2023, 73 Million people will be covered by
Medicare and it will cost them a monumental $1.1 Trillion. People are choosing, instead of where
to get care and how quickly they can get there, whether or not to even get care. The expense of
medicineis because of how difficult it is to produce and discover new technologies. This expense is

In reality, the main reasons for the price hike is the mismanagement and fraud that occurs, along
with a lack of preventative care. This causes more germaphobes and hypochondriacs to go to the
doctor more, using resources, requiring new technologies to be made, ultimately raising the price of
medical care because of its consistent use.
The overuse of medical facilities has more than one detrimental consequence. The frequent use of
the same vaccines and medicines will cause new bacteria and viruses to be formed and old ones to
mutate and grow more resistant to our medicines, damaging everyone in the long run.
A general reform of medical care in America won t work very well because it s not as much a
bureaucratic issue as it is a general perception of the people. It needs to be taught to the general
public that some diseases should stay home and be cured through your own means and to stay
out of a hospital if you aren t sick. The idea of going to a public hospital every time you feel
funny is unrealistic. People don t have or don t use a primary care physician, which can help them
understand if they truly do need medical care or just some

Assimilation In Mike Resnick s Kirinyaga
A common story told in history is one society having a technological advantage over another
society, and imposing their will either through conquest or assimilation. In Mike Resnick s novel
Kirinyaga, the topic of European colonial assimilation is explored through a tale of a group of
Kikuyu settlers on a new planet named Kirinyaga. The people of Kirinyaga experience the
assimilation in three ways through direct control, cultural examples, and technological temptation.
The people of Kirinyaga are only allowed to live on the planet, thanks to the charter established by
Earth governments. This allows the Earth government to exercise a certain level of control over the
inhabitants. Although they do not directly have the ability to shape the ... Show more content on

Life Of A College For Women
Vassar College was founded by Matthew Vassar in 1865 as an all woman s school. Vassar, a
wealthy man with no children was prepared to give his money to build a hospital that would
immortalize his name, but Milo Jewett convinced him it would create a bigger legacy to build a
college for women (Vassar admissions). Vassar agreed with Jewett and set about planning the school
. He wanted to produce well rounded women that would eventually graduate from a college that
would be considered the female equivalent of Harvard. The young women attending the college
would receive all well rounded, useful degree in liberal arts. This was uncommon during that time
period because most ladies attended an all girls seminary school instead of a college. Even though
the college provided a liberal arts educationit still ran under many of the same governances as the
seminary schools had. This created a strange mix between a college and seminary school which
changed the way the architecture and the policy of the school were shaped. Jewett and Vassar
wanted to provide a liberal arts education to young women but they still believed that the young
women needed to be protected. At first Jewett only wanted to hire male professors for his school
believing they would be the individuals best equipped to educate the students (Kluge 36). Not only
did this idea counter the belief that women could learn the same material as men it also was seen
as improper. Many people of that time period believed that the

We center on the first world perspective. Feelings of invulnerability lead to fantasy of
omnipotence (9). Conflation of exploration and exoneration leads to the conception of
responsibility. This includes isolating the event and conceptualizing rationality. Responsibility is
the juncture of being acted on and acting. This causes the response. There is some basis of
political community. Violence and vulnerability can be led to the exploitation of the ties we have
with one another (27). Butler wants to say that we are always vulnerable. Butler wants to
complicate the picture of autonomy. The narrative of autonomy leads to violence and stratification
which in turn leads to dehumanization and derealation. We need to become aware of this process
to understand our relationships. When we mention the narrative of autonomy we are speaking
about the body. The body is both a site of private and public spheres. Most people see the body as
only being in the private sphere but in reality, the body is constantly being regulated an example
being like what clothes are appropriate to wear to different occasions. Butler wants to relate this to
the relationships we have with legitimate power. Butler uses Focult s idea of sovereignty and
governmentality. Sovereignty is seen as representative. It is an individualized, concentrated power
that involves decision making. Governmentality on the other hand revolves around the process of
law.

In this report I will be discussing the different file formats, compression techniques, image
resolution and colour depth. I will be explaining the different purposes, then, after I have issued an
in depth explanation of image quality and file size I will be completing a final conclusion about
the best ones to use for certain tasks.
Seen as there are numerous different uses for images it means that the quality will differ for
different purposes. The formats which I will be discussing within this report include JPEG, GIF s,
TIF, PSD and BMP. All these formats are made for different reasons and I will be explaining
these differences in quality and file size. Each format varies in the depth of the colour within the
image, some have larger colour depth meaning that the file size will be larger, whereas, some of
these formats have very low colour depth resulting in a lower quality image. When exporting an
image, sometimes there is an option to adjust the colour depth to your preference, so, the file format
could change to your desired colour depth.
Compression techniques
When compressing a file to make it smaller there are two options which are available, Lossy and
Lossless. Both do the same job, which is compressing the file size, however, they both do it
differently for different reasons, I will explain the advantages and disadvantages of both. The

generally are immune from liability in lawsuits brought by at will employees, and Plaintiff cannot,
as a matter of law, succeed on the element of detrimental reliance necessary to support a claim of
promissory estoppel. More specifically, Plaintiff s employment agreement contained no explicit
period of service, no clear limit on the employer s freedom of action and thus, allowed either party

his significant need to move to Houston, to allow him the ability to care for his ailing mother,
evidenced by his further admission of seeking employment with any company that would make this

in an illogical situation where an employee maintains no remedy if fired sometime after

Self In Zootopia
Anyone can be Anything: How Self is Shaped by Individuals and Society.
In the movie Zootopia, racial profiling and social stereotypes are allegorized into distinctive,
discriminatory clade of predator prey and species archetypes such as slow sloths, sly foxes and
dumb bunnies. Most reviews praised the movie s thematic portrayals of stereotypes (e.g.
Telegraph, New York Times) and universal values of freedom and perseverance (e.g. Washington
Post). But few reviews address the films exploration of variations of identity as noted by Screen

This implies that one s self is susceptible to racial profiling and stereotyping, as Zootopia
allegorizes. In Zootopia, although Nick had childhood aspirations of becoming a scout, his
victimization at the hands of other animals leaves him with a pessimistic view of being able to
define self outside of his species stereotype, stating that if society see[s] a fox as shifty and
untrustworthy, there s no point in being anything else. Nick therefore accepts society s profiling as
a sly fox and becomes a con artist. In stark contrast to the hopeful belief spurred from the slogan
that Zootopian characters have the sovereignty to freely pursue their dreams, species stereotyping
within Zootopia limits the autonomy to construct self, and instead self making is dominated by
these discriminative perceptions. Consequently, Zootopian characters such as Nick resigned self to
a discriminatory role. No longer is self constructed by just the individual; Species stereotyping
becomes the social forces which drives the individual s notion of self. Although Zootopia s motto of

Difference Between Classical Music And Classical Period
Introduction:
The classical period was called the age of enlightenment and had lasted since 1750 till 1820. It
contrasted the Renaissance and Baroque periods, because composers were able to express about
their emotions and problems within their artworks. The artwork that was created then was unique
and new. The classical period s music was mainly dominated by three composers: Franz Joseph
Haydn (1732 1809), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart(1756 1791), and Ludwig van Beethoven (1770
1827).

In choosing to believe the ghost, he decides that he must seek revenge on his father s murderer
and will allow nothing to get in his way. From this moment on, Hamlet heads in a downward
spiral and we can track him losing his mind if we just erase the lines that express his plan to act
like his is doing so. These cuts begin from the moment when Hamlet says that he is going To put
an antic disposition on (Act I Scene V). Taking out this one line could change the play entirely.
Most of the lines in which he speaks of this part of his revenge plot following his original
declaration of it are moments in which he is attempting to explain that he isn t actually insane.
By removing this one, small line we effectively make it easier to argue that his madness isn t a
part of his plot but it is an actual part of him. Without having concrete proof before the madness
starts that it is, in fact, planned how are we as an audience supposed to trust him? Removing this
line makes it so that the readers, and the other characters, are entirely unaware of this part of his

discloses the part of his revenge plan is when he is speaking to Guildenstern in Act II Scene II, and

The World Needs Abortion Essay
One of the most important philosophical issues ever concerns the definition of a person and who is
able to feel. Abortion, which is a deliberate termination of pregnancy, is one of the most important
practical applications of that issue. Life on Earth is threatened with destruction from overpopulation
and the poverty that overpopulation causes. Fortunately, abortion can prevent overpopulation. The
question about whether abortion shouldbe done is primarily the question about whether the embryo
or fetus is a person. In most cases, the embryo weighs less than 100grams: less than 10% of human
brain. Abortion should be legal since it is useful and since humans become conscious after birth, not
before.
Values for Human Society
People are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If an embryo that does not feel is terminated, then the conscious object, a person, is never created.
Not creating a person is not immoral: When people are not having sex, they are not creating a
person. If the society has an optimum population, the net benefit (benefit minus harm) of an extra
person will on average be zero.
Practical Effects of Abortion
The world has a problem of overpopulation, not under population. The environmental problems
occur largely because too many people exist and strain the natural resources. Thus, not creating
an extra person is on average good for the society. (If creating a person would on average be good,
then more people should be created, and the population size is too small, not too large.) In abortion,
when a mother chooses not to create a person, the person is unwanted and thus probably should not
be created.
Much of the poverty found throughout the world is caused by having too many children. Abortion
prevents that and thus reduces poverty. Poverty contributes to crime. Therefore, abortion reduces
crime. Unfortunately, the government in the USA does not support abortion for poor people.
A serious defect in an embryo gives additional reasons for its termination. For example, Down
syndrome is a severe congenital disorder that is a major cause of mental retardation, worldwide.
(Cozic 138) Fortunately, fetal testing (with abortion) can prevent it. If the couple with a defective
embryo is

The Music Of Jazz And Jazz Essay
Jazz had started, when musicians came to New Orleans to play, most of the people that came to
play were former slaves of African descent. The African American people had traced their
ancestry back to West Africa, and with this knowledge they began to make a new kind of genre of
music called jazz, based on ancient African tribal music, that people in Africa had been played for
years. Some things that the tribal music and jazzhave in common is a strong drum beat, voices
imitating instruments, and the use of short repeated phrases. This style was passed from
generation to generation, and was played by ear, without written scores, and still has managed
to become one of the most popular genres of music. The 1920s is when jazz had started to
become popular in America, just after it first started. Jazz became popular when more and more
musicians had begun to play it. By the end of the decade every home consisted of at least on

The Risk Factors of Osteoarthritis Essay
OA has a complex pathology, with numerous environmental and genetic risk factors. Generally,
OA is thought to be caused by a complex interaction between environmental and genetic factors
(Valdes et al., 2009). A variety of epidemiological studies have demonstrated that genetic
susceptibility is a key regulator of OA aetiology (Peach et al., 2005). Genetic variations may
influence several OA risk factors, including obesity, skeletal shape, bone mass and synovitis
(Valdes et al., 2011a). Furthermore, it has been shown that generalized OA phenotype, sensitivity
to pain and disease progression may be also determined by genetic susceptibility (Valdes et al.,
2010a; van Meurs et al., 2009; Kerkhof et al., 2010).

OA is generally recognized as a complex multi factor disease that has mostly small and modest
effect susceptibility loci (Reynard et al., 2012). Over the past decade efforts have been focused on
the search for loci that predispose to OA. The following approaches most often have been attempts
to provide insight into the complexity of OA genetics: genetic linkage studies (LA), genome wide
association studies (GWAS) and candidate gene studies.
LA exploits the fact that genes have a tendency to be inherited together because they are located
close to each other. After identification of a linkage, all genes in the linked region need to be
identified and in this manner candidate genes of interest for a disease can be established. LA has
been successful in localizing chromosomal regions containing highly penetrant genetic variants.
However, in a common disease, such as OA, the success of LA is very limited for a number of
reasons, including the low power of identification of genes with modest effects and the large impact
of environmental influences (Risch et al., 1996).
After the completion of the Human Genome Sequencing project, which provided the opportunity to
systematically search across the genome and to test large numbers of common genetic variants for
association with disease, GWAS have been successfully applied to the study of many complex
diseases. GWAS make it possible to examine the associations of thousands of

Role Of Aegir In Vikirs
During the times of voyages the Vikings loved and feared the ocean. The reason behind this is
because of the god Aegir. Aegir is the god of the ocean and rules virtually every ocean in The Nine
Worlds. He is seen as a vigorous elemental god. Aegir was a huge part of the and ocean because of
this people have said when their has been a ship wreck it had gone into Aegir s jaws . He also
provoked storms and sea, either to do it carelessly or just because he liked to do it. The Vikings
loved and feared him because if he was not on your side your voyage could end badly. Because of
this the Vikings often held sacrifices for him.27
In Norse mythology it is believed that the afterlife you come to revolves around how you lived
your life. Vikings who fell in battle were considered to be the bravest Vikings and they would
obtain the biggest reward in their afterlife. In Norse mythology the two realms that were linked to
their religious beliefs was Valhalla and Helheim and they believed that you would end up in one or
the other. Valhalla is known to be the hall of the fallen , it was mainly... Show more content on

It is widely believed that the Vikings cremated the bodies of the dead which means they would burn
the body at really hot temperatures making the flesh and bones turn into ash. After the body had
turned into ash the Vikings would either scatter, bury or sail it out to the sea. The Vikings believed
that by cremating the body the smoke would help them transfer them to their legitimate destination
in the afterlife. If they did not use the method of cremation they used inhumation, which meant that
you would bury the body in its present state under the ground. If they used this method they would
usually place dirt or stones on top of the body. Historians have also stated that it is believed that the
Vikings did not use inhumation until they learned about

Masked Identity In Watchman s Watchmen
The story of Watchmen brings into question what it means to be a hero. The comic creates a world
where masked vigilantes aren t necessarily the forces for good that American culture presumes
them to be. The heroes of Watchmen are morally questionable and often don t do what most would
consider right. Often, these vigilantes create their identities, at least partly, for reasons other than
just protecting others. This includes using their identities as a way to wrestle with their feelings on
sex and their own sexualities. Masked identity is used as a form of sexual expression in Watchmen.
It can be used for either expressing revulsion towards sex or as a way of fulfilling the needs of a
character s repressed sexuality. Rorschach is perhaps the most extreme example of a vigilante
who uses his masked identity to express revulsion towards sex. Rorschach finds sex in any way,

Genetic Modification Essay
Genetic modification is a subject that has been hotly debated in the past, and remains a topic of
controversy today. There are many critical discussions to be had with genetically modified (GM)
products, however, this paper will focus on corn crops that have been modified to incorporate
Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) genes. Corn is the largest food crop in the world and Bt corn is one of
the largest crops in North America. Bt corn has several benefits, yet, there are also many potential
problems with the crop and its impacts on local ecosystems. Although environmental issues may
raise concerns, Bt crops have an immense upside with proper management of the Bt gene.

He concludes, more investigation of the ecological and biological interactions involving the Bt
genes needs to be done before effective insect resistant management strategies can be crafted.
Increasing insect, bacterial, and viral resistances are some of the primary concerns with genetically
modified crops. Recently, there have been several new documented insect resistances to the Bt gene
that have raised major concerns in the scientific community about the future of genetic engineering
(Coates 2016). Ostrina nubilalis was the largest pest to corn crops prior to the introduction of Bt
crops, populations of O. nubilalis saw drastic decreases after the widespread implementation of Bt
crops. Once the Bt crops were employed, new insect resistant management strategies needed to be
adopted to stop insect resistances from forming too rapidly. Unfortunately, these strategies seem to
be an insufficient means in preventing resistances forming swiftly and negating the sustainability of
these B crops (Coates 2016). Currently, there is not enough information about the interactions
between the crops and their pests to develop effective insect resistant management strategies
(Coates 2016).

Cold War Manderin Essay
The book, Cold War Mandarin Ngo Dinh Diem and the Origins of America s War in Vietnam
1950 1963, by Seth Jacobs is a comprehensive retelling of the rise and fall of Ngo Dinh Diem s
government in South Vietnam. In that retelling Jacob focuses on the major events that took place
in Vietnam as well as showed how America backed a leader that did nothing to booster his nation
and led America into one of the worst wars in its history. The Diem regime was a corrupt and
tyrannical government that used the United States fears of communism to push its own goals that
ultimately led to its own demise. Jacob viewed the escalation of America s involvement in Vietnam

Diem stood at odds with Ho Chi Minh who was, eager to expand his base of support, Ho reached
out to anti communist nationalists: he especially wanted to attract Vietnam s Catholic minority, and
understood that the presence of a predominant Catholic in his first coalition cabinet would go a
long way to accomplish this goal (22). Diem refused to work with the Viet Minh and upon breaking
communications with them would then work organize an anti Viet Minh political party.
Diem was very much a nationalist, but not communist, and this is what drew the Americans to
Diem. The need had arisen to replace the Bao Dai emperorship, for in the eyes of many Vietnamese
it was a sham and the only other alternative was that of the communists and Ho Chi Minh. Diem
understood this and he, insisted that France s Bao Dai solution was all but handing Indochina to the
Viet Minh. Only a Vietnamese leader who had not collaborated with either the French or
Communists could succeed in forming a government to rival that of Ho (28). His arguments of
Vietnamese nationalism made sense to many political figures in Washington, thus putting him
further in the front running for American support. Diem also secured further support from his
Catholic faith, which put him in good with many influential figures in America, such as Cardinal
Spellman who was very influential in right wing political circles. Faith was a very strong motivator

responsibilities towards our money. To be utilized fully in a decentralized market system with free
competition and pricing.(1) Then to be able to save money rather keeping money being spent from

business cycles would be removed or at least won t be having recession. Then there also the
problems governments had with the economy such as depressions. If the citizens would had
authority towards it, then the money would ve been spent in different things such as today. U.S

Helicopter Parenting Essay
There are many different ways to parent your kids, and every kid is different. There are also very
many different opinions on how you raised and brought up your kid and how it will affect the
child in the long run. Some people let their kids do what they want when they want while others
never let them do anything unless they are right there to step in. Everyone is different and some need
it more than others but for the average kid less is sometimes better. Helicopter parentingcan be
helpful in some cases if that is what your child needs. These days there are so many things that
kids have to worry about such as school and jobs and everything else we have to do in our busy
lives. The hardest thing as a parentis to just stand there and watch your kid struggle and or fail.
But also the last thing we need is the added pressure from our parents. Kids may see your help as
they were not good enough to do it on their own or that you do not have to confidence in them to
let them do it. In recent studies it has shown that the added stress from helicopter parents make
our lives worse than what it would be if they just left us alone and let us take care of what we
needed to on our own. Especially when it comes to our academic habits. When we are in
elementary school all the way up through high school parents like to be there and have a saw in all
of our schooling. But when we go off and go to college we no longer know how to take care of
own self because our parents have always been

How Estuaries Are Diverse And Rich Environments Essay
Estuaries are incredibly diverse and rich environments. An estuary allows for diverse
populations of fishes and other invertebrates because of the varying salinities and rich food
sources (Keefer, Caudill, Peery, Moser, 2013). If an estuary is long enough there is a gradient as
the fresh and salt water begin to mix ( At the river s end, 2005). This gradient provides protection
for some species and breeding grounds for other species. The unique habitat is makes a great
nursery for juvenile fishes (Fulford et al., 2014). Anadromous fishes spawn in freshwater and
migrate to saltwater until they are sexually mature when they return to freshwater habitats to
reproduce (Feyrer et al., 2015). The opposite is said for catadromous fishes which spawn in
saltwater and migrate to freshwater until they are sexually mature when they return to saltwater to
reproduce (Walsh, Gray, West, Williams, 2011).
Salt marshes have high primary productivity (O Connor, Violin, Anton, Ladwig, Piehler, 2011).
Much like estuaries, salt marshes have a variety of different salinities. The environment of a salt
marsh is dependent on the tides and the weather. The upper marsh has lower salinity due to low
tidal inflow, whereas the lower marsh salinity is maintained by daily tidal inflow. However,
variables such as heavy rain can affect both the upper and lower tidal zones. Salt marshes can also
experience dry seasons where the water experiences evaporation which increases the salinity of

Comparing Beaks Of Eagles And Sara Teasdale s Poem The Flight
In Robinson Jeffers poem The Beaks of Eagles and Sara Teasdale s poem The Flight , both
authors incorporate an eagle to explore the human fundamentals of love and attachment. Jeffers
utilizes the eagle in a way to explain the ideas of independency and the idea of moving on: her
mate was shot long ago, she is now mated with a son of hers (7 9). Teasdale, however, uses the
eagle to explore the themes of dependency. He depicts that if one dies the other can not live
without them: When one of us goes, Let the other follow. (13 14) Both convey these themes
with a melancholic tone as too show how in the end, death is what tests the nature of human
beings. In The Beaks of Eagles , Jeffers portrays the eagle as an independent being. The being in
this case represents a woman who has seen the worst in the world but still manages to stay intact:
The she eagle is old, her mate was shot long ago, she is now mated with a son of her . (7 9) This
notion conveys the fact that she has seen death and did not let it wound her forever. Jeffers goes on
further to say that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

up the fact that the woman in his poem did not give up during the major travesties in her life. She

state of intense happiness and freedom the speaker experienced in her relationship, but when death
took her suitor, she could not bare the thought of being alone: When one of us goes, Let the other
follow, Let the flight be ended, Let the fire blacken, Let the book close.

The Dispute Over Agricultural Trade Liberalization Between...
In 2002, a dispute over agricultural trade liberalization between the United States and Brazil arose.
Brazil filed a lawsuit against the United Stated in the World Trade Organization Dispute (WTO)
Settlement System arguing that the subsidies the United States provided to US farmers violated
WTO trade agreements and gave US farmers unfair advantages (Unit 7, lesson 5). Fortunately for
Brazil, the World Trade Organizationagreed with their claim and authorized them to take punitive
measures against the United States(Cengage unit 7, 3). As a result of that authorization, Brazil
decided to impose tariffs and lift patent protections on US goods (Cengage unit 7, 3). In order to
limit the damage that could have been created by Brazil s actions, the United States had to make
a smart move. As a matter of fact, they decided to provide cottons to Brazilians rather than
removing the subsidies. Over 150 Million in subsidies have been provided to the Brazilians, in
2010 so that Brazil do not impose punitive measures (Cengage unit 7, 3). There exists both, pros
and cons for subsidizing U.S. farmers. In fact, US farmer strongly support subsidies claiming that it
gives the US an important industry and helps the regulations. However, subsidizing US farmers has
some consequences. The cons argue that subsidies provided to US agricultural producers create
inefficiency in the global economy (unit 7). Also, according to economists, subsidizing stands in
the way of the economy growth

The Side Effect Of Loneliness
Charmi Patel Barrett English 208 17 December 2014 Codependency: The Side Effect of
Loneliness Sam Keen once wrote, There are two questions a man must ask himself: The first is
Where am I going? and the second is Who will go with me? If you ever get these questions in the
wrong order you are in trouble (Keen 12). It is the time of Great Depression and it is every man
for himself. In this society it is typical to live and travel alone but some are unable to handle this
life of loneliness and develop a reliance on codependency. Codependency is a psychological
condition in which someone is in an unhealthy relationship that involves living with and providing
care for another person with a pathological condition. Whether it is George codependent on
Lennie or Candy dependent on his companions, the characters form a codependent relationship to
avoid a life of misery. Analyzing Of Mice and Men through a psychoanalytic lens, Steinbeck
elucidates the characters formation of unhealthy relationships, through their ego and superego, in
order to satisfy their loneliness. Loneliness causes an individual to seek the company of another.
George and Lennie became aware of this early on in their lives leading them to form a mutual
dependence on each other. At the ranch, after being asked by Slim, George opens up about the
incident in Weed, [George] Well, that girl rabbits in an tells the law she been raped. The guys in

  • 3. Jardim Gramacho Essay The upper class society of Brazil gives Jardim Gramacho a bad name, one that Muniz disputes, emphasizing it as a place for the lower class. Jardim Gramacho is seen as a place for people of low quality and for the those who have nothing to lose or left to give, but by Muniz using the garbage and other materials found around Jardim Gramacho, he displays how beautiful this wasteland is and how important the people who live there are. When talking to his wife Muniz says, Check out the geography of this thing. This is the end of the line, this is where everything that is not good goes. Including the people. (Wasteland) By saying this Muniz is implying that living in Jardim Gramacho is depicted as a negative place and people that are not fortunate to have money or have nothing left to live for are condemned to living there and are seen by the outside society as bad or worthless lives. The reason fom Muniz creating his sculptures out of the garbage from Jardim Gramacho is to show that there is something beautiful within the garbage which is the people. For example, one of the sculptures Muniz creates is of a man named Zumbi. The sculpture shows Zumbi smiling throwing grain out of one of the bag that the packers carry around. In the documentary Zumbi says, Before coming to the land field we had an easy life. (Wasteland) He talks about how is parents were still alive and together and how life was good. Then one day his father died and he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Advantages And Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of... What is communication? We often define communication as the act of talking to one another via different platforms, be it face to face, via emails or even through videos. Through this act, we are trying to pass a message or relate something to the intended audience. We face this every day in our lives, even if we do not leave the house and talk to anyone. For example, even reading a cooking recipe is counted as a form of communication. It is a form of communication between the reader and the writer. The reader is trying to comprehend and follow the steps given by the writer whereas the writer would be writing in a form whereby the steps is simple yet precise. So here are some advantages and disadvantages of ineffective communication. For advantages,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many people would know of this unfortunate incident, but not many would know that it was probably the cause of an ineffective communication. The incident goes as follows, In July of 1945, the allied leaders had a meeting in Potsdam and they submitted a stiffly worded declaration of surrender terms to the Japanese. These terms had included a statement to the effect that any negative answer would invite prompt and utter destruction. The allied leaders (Harry S Truman, Winston Churchill and Stalin) also stated that they hoped that Japan would agree to surrender unconditionally and prevent devastation of the Japanese homeland and that they patiently awaited Japan s answer. This was known as the Potsdam Declaration. The Japanese Premier at that time, Kantaro Suzuki answered using the Japanese word mokusatsu , which is derived from the word for silence . Yet, this word had a second meaning which also means not worthy of comment . In the heat of the moment, the meaning was thought to be the second one, which may be true as the Japanese were very prideful, as we can see from the Kamikaze spirit. To rather die than be captured. After the allied leaders knew of this reply, ten days later the atomic bomb was dropped at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Clark Terry Research Paper Clark Terry was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 14th, 1920; he was the seventh out of eleven children. He was a classic freelance musician, his career spans more than 70 years. During this time he created a name for himself that will forever cement him along with the legends like Duke Ellington and Miles Davis. Mr. Clark was a man of many talents and during his time on this earth he was became a world class trumpeter, flugelhornist, educator, composer, writer, trumpet /flugelhorn designer, teacher and even an NEA JazzMaster; He made flugelhorn what it is today he is responsible for its popularity. Another thing that Clark Terry is noted for is his association with relationship with Duke Ellington s orchestra and Count Basie; he is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 96 he was inducted into the St. Louis Walk of Fame and he also has a life sized wax figure for the Black World History Museum in St. Louis. During his lifetime Terry earned over 250 awards. Clark Terry was a man who worked for everything he had and everything he earned one of the most important thing he has was the respect of his peers who saw him as an inventive improviser with a graceful and ebullient style, traces of which can be heard in the playing of Miles Davis, Wynton Marsalis and others (KEEPNEWS). Anyone listening to him now would know him as the man who had a very unique way of warming up for practice. The vocal numbers where peppered his performances with a unique brand of scat singing the noises as well as nonsense syllables took the place of words. It was an off the cuff recording of one such song, released in 1964 under the name Mumbles, that became his signature song which is why I believe his death was felt more by the many Jazz artists than that of the general public. I also believe it wasn t as big of a deal because many do not give Jazz the respect it deserves due to the era of smooth/soft Jazz taking over. Clark Terry as I have said earlier created a legacy for himself that any musician would be happy to have as a teacher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Genetic Testing or Genetic Screening Genetic testing, also known as screening, is a rapidly advancing new scientific field that can potentially revolutionize not only the world of medicine, but many aspects of our lives. Genetic screening is the sequencing of human DNA in order to discover genetic differences, anomalies, or mutations that may prove pathological. As genetic screening becomes more advanced and easily accessible, it presents society with difficult questions that must be asked about the boundaries of science and to what degree we are allowed to tamper with the human genome. To better understand the potential impact of genetic screening on our society, we must examine the potential benefits in comparison to the possible negative impact it may cause. With this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 335). There are many reasons to support further research into genetic screening but unfortunately such a complicated and controversial field also brings up ethical, legal and social issues that need to be addressed. One of the greatest issues surrounding genetic screening is one of privacy and potential discrimination. Some people fear that a predictive test that shows someone is at higher risk of developing a particular condition can be used against said person. Employers could become interested in knowing the probabilities of their workers developing chronic conditions, which might lead to hiring discrimination. Genetic predispositions towards certain diseases could also be used to deny health insurance to some individuals. This may seem unlikely but it is an issue that definitely warrants concern. Brynne Stainsby s father was diagnosed with the gene that causes degenerative brain disorder, meaning she had one in two odds of developing Huntington s disease. When preparing to start her own chiropractic practice she learned that it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get covered if she possesses this same gene. Simply coming from a family that was predisposed to Huntington s disease was enough to disqualify her from life or disability insurance. • 11. Why You Should Start Shopping For A New Vehicle With all the new 2008 vehicles rolling onto the car dealership lots, it s hard not to start thinking about trading in your wheels for a newer model. Before taking the plunge, consider these tips for getting the best deal. Time is on Your Side There are certain times of the year that are better than others for snagging a great deal on a new vehicle. It just depends on what your goals are. If your goal is to trade up to a 2008 model, the best time to do this is in the spring of 2008. Most dealerships will still have plenty of brand new, never been driven vehiclesout on the lot. If you re simply looking to trade up, then you should start shopping for a 2007 model now. Any models from last year that haven t sold will be deeply discounted to make room for next year s model. Shopping during different months can also yield surprisingly deep discounts. For example, November is historically the slowest month for vehicles sales, new or used. Since the majority of Americans are focused on planning for the holidays, sales slow down significantly. Sales people are more likely to come to their bottom dollar negotiating figure more quickly during November, thereby making negotiations easier on you. Generally, shopping in the early winter months right after the holidays is also a good time to snag deals. If that is not enough, the day of the month you choose to shop can also pay off. The closer to the end of the month you can shop, the better your deal will be. This is because the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Turkmen Energy Relations With China And Russia Turkmen Energy Relations with China and Russia Historically in the Russian sphere of influence, since the breakup of the Soviet Union, just like the rest of Central Asia, Turkmenistan has found itself in the middle of Sino Russian confrontation over the question of who is the new regional powerhouse. Due to the shared Russian imperial and then Soviet past, the Russian influence the Turkman society was prevalent after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Pipelines carried Turkmen gas to Russia and then from Russia to Western markets. Turkmens had no alternative, all of Turkmen gas from the Dauletabad field was exported through the Soviet era Central Asia Center Pipeline System which was built between 1960 and 1988 and carried gas from Turkmen and Uzbek fields to a hub on the Russian Kazakh border called Alexandrov Gai and then linked to the Russian pipeline network. Initially Russia bought the Turkmen gas at a very cheap rate and then resold it to the European markets at a price several times higher than what it paid the Turkmens. In March of 2008, following a meeting in Moscow between Gazprom and top energy officials from the region it was announced that beginning in 2009 the sale of natural gas will be made at European prices; however, Turkmens in particular had already realized the need for diversification. This research has primarily emphasized the importance of CSR to both individuals and the community at large, but one question remains underexplored: how do consumer perceptions of CSR line up with their concurrent expectations from the company? However, this study forms a stopgap towards a truly symbiotic relationship with consumers. As with major issues in society, a major panacea exists in the form of proper education. A recent study showed that sound and informative communication channels based in information stemming from food purchases could effectively induce consumers to consider brands actively participating in CSR initiative (Devviney et al., 2010). Mohr et al. (2001) executed interviews to investigate what consumers believe to be the real motives of firms to engage in CSR. Mohr et al. created four categories of company motives based on the answers of the respondents: (1) rewards sought for the firm itself, (2) rewards sought mostly for the firm but partly for others, (3) rewards sought mostly for others but partly for the firm, and (4) rewards sought solely for others (p. 59). More specifically, Plaintiff s employment agreement contained no explicit period of service, no clear limit on the employer s freedom of action and thus, allowed either party to terminate the relationship at any time or for any reason. Rather, Plaintiff admitted his significant need to move to Houston, to allow him the ability to care for his ailing mother, evidenced by his further admission of seeking employment with any company that would make this relocation possible. Most reviews praised the movie s thematic portrayals of stereotypes (e.g. Telegraph, New York Times) and universal values of freedom and perseverance (e.g. Washington Post). This implies that one s self is susceptible to racial profiling and stereotyping, as Zootopia allegorizes. In Zootopia, although Nick had childhood aspirations of becoming a scout, his victimization at the hands of other animals leaves him with a pessimistic view of being able to define self outside of his species stereotype, stating that if society see[s] a fox as shifty and untrustworthy, there s no point in being anything else. Nick therefore accepts society s profiling as a sly fox and becomes a con artist. In stark contrast to the hopeful belief spurred from the slogan that Zootopian characters have the sovereignty to freely pursue their dreams, species stereotyping within Zootopia limits the autonomy to construct self, and instead self making is dominated by these discriminative perceptions. Consequently, Zootopian characters such as Nick resigned self to a discriminatory role. It contrasted the Renaissance and Baroque periods, because composers were able to express about their emotions and problems within their artworks. The artwork that was created then was unique and new. The classical period s music was mainly dominated by three composers: Franz Joseph Haydn (1732 1809), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart(1756 1791), and Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 1827). 1.Symphony: A.Definition: A symphony is a musical piece which is divided into four movements played by an orchestra. • 38. The World Needs Abortion Essay One of the most important philosophical issues ever concerns the definition of a person and who is able to feel. Abortion, which is a deliberate termination of pregnancy, is one of the most important practical applications of that issue. Life on Earth is threatened with destruction from overpopulation and the poverty that overpopulation causes. Fortunately, abortion can prevent overpopulation. The question about whether abortion shouldbe done is primarily the question about whether the embryo or fetus is a person. In most cases, the embryo weighs less than 100grams: less than 10% of human brain. Abortion should be legal since it is useful and since humans become conscious after birth, not before. Values for Human Society People are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If an embryo that does not feel is terminated, then the conscious object, a person, is never created. Not creating a person is not immoral: When people are not having sex, they are not creating a person. If the society has an optimum population, the net benefit (benefit minus harm) of an extra person will on average be zero. Practical Effects of Abortion The world has a problem of overpopulation, not under population. The environmental problems occur largely because too many people exist and strain the natural resources. Thus, not creating an extra person is on average good for the society. (If creating a person would on average be good, then more people should be created, and the population size is too small, not too large.) In abortion, when a mother chooses not to create a person, the person is unwanted and thus probably should not be created. Much of the poverty found throughout the world is caused by having too many children. Abortion prevents that and thus reduces poverty. Poverty contributes to crime. Therefore, abortion reduces crime. Unfortunately, the government in the USA does not support abortion for poor people. A serious defect in an embryo gives additional reasons for its termination. For example, Down syndrome is a severe congenital disorder that is a major cause of mental retardation, worldwide. (Cozic 138) Fortunately, fetal testing (with abortion) can prevent it. The African American people had traced their ancestry back to West Africa, and with this knowledge they began to make a new kind of genre of music called jazz, based on ancient African tribal music, that people in Africa had been played for years. Some things that the tribal music and jazzhave in common is a strong drum beat, voices imitating instruments, and the use of short repeated phrases. This style was passed from generation to generation, and was played by ear, without written scores, and still has managed to become one of the most popular genres of music. The 1920s is when jazz had started to become popular in America, just after it first started. Jazz became popular when more and more musicians had begun to play it. By the end of the decade every home consisted of at least on radio, so everyone had heard jazz at that point. Generally, OA is thought to be caused by a complex interaction between environmental and genetic factors (Valdes et al., 2009). Genetic variations may influence several OA risk factors, including obesity, skeletal shape, bone mass and synovitis (Valdes et al., 2011a). Furthermore, it has been shown that generalized OA phenotype, sensitivity to pain and disease progression may be also determined by genetic susceptibility (Valdes et al., 2010a; van Meurs et al., 2009; Kerkhof et al., 2010). OA is generally recognized as a complex multi factor disease that has mostly small and modest effect susceptibility loci (Reynard et al., 2012). Over the past decade efforts have been focused on the search for loci that predispose to OA. The following approaches most often have been attempts to provide insight into the complexity of OA genetics: genetic linkage studies (LA), genome wide association studies (GWAS) and candidate gene studies. LA exploits the fact that genes have a tendency to be inherited together because they are located close to each other. After identification of a linkage, all genes in the linked region need to be identified and in this manner candidate genes of interest for a disease can be established. LA has been successful in localizing chromosomal regions containing highly penetrant genetic variants. However, in a common disease, such as OA, the success of LA is very limited for a number of reasons, including the low power of identification of genes with modest effects and the large impact of environmental influences (Risch et al., 1996). After the completion of the Human Genome Sequencing project, which provided the opportunity to systematically search across the genome and to test large numbers of common genetic variants for association with disease, GWAS have been successfully applied to the study of many complex diseases. Ostrina nubilalis was the largest pest to corn crops prior to the introduction of Bt crops, populations of O. nubilalis saw drastic decreases after the widespread implementation of Bt crops. Once the Bt crops were employed, new insect resistant management strategies needed to be adopted to stop insect resistances from forming too rapidly. • 49. Helicopter Parenting Essay There are many different ways to parent your kids, and every kid is different. There are also very many different opinions on how you raised and brought up your kid and how it will affect the child in the long run. Some people let their kids do what they want when they want while others never let them do anything unless they are right there to step in. Everyone is different and some need it more than others but for the average kid less is sometimes better. Helicopter parentingcan be helpful in some cases if that is what your child needs. These days there are so many things that kids have to worry about such as school and jobs and everything else we have to do in our busy lives. The hardest thing as a parentis to just stand there and watch your kid struggle and or fail. But also the last thing we need is the added pressure from our parents. Kids may see your help as they were not good enough to do it on their own or that you do not have to confidence in them to let them do it. In recent studies it has shown that the added stress from helicopter parents make our lives worse than what it would be if they just left us alone and let us take care of what we needed to on our own. Especially when it comes to our academic habits. When we are in elementary school all the way up through high school parents like to be there and have a saw in all of our schooling. But when we go off and go to college we no longer know how to take care of own self because our parents have always been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. How Estuaries Are Diverse And Rich Environments Essay Estuaries are incredibly diverse and rich environments. An estuary allows for diverse populations of fishes and other invertebrates because of the varying salinities and rich food sources (Keefer, Caudill, Peery, Moser, 2013). If an estuary is long enough there is a gradient as the fresh and salt water begin to mix ( At the river s end, 2005). This gradient provides protection for some species and breeding grounds for other species. The unique habitat is makes a great nursery for juvenile fishes (Fulford et al., 2014). Anadromous fishes spawn in freshwater and migrate to saltwater until they are sexually mature when they return to freshwater habitats to reproduce (Feyrer et al., 2015). The opposite is said for catadromous fishes which spawn in saltwater and migrate to freshwater until they are sexually mature when they return to saltwater to reproduce (Walsh, Gray, West, Williams, 2011). Salt marshes have high primary productivity (O Connor, Violin, Anton, Ladwig, Piehler, 2011). Much like estuaries, salt marshes have a variety of different salinities. The environment of a salt marsh is dependent on the tides and the weather. The upper marsh has lower salinity due to low tidal inflow, whereas the lower marsh salinity is maintained by daily tidal inflow. However, variables such as heavy rain can affect both the upper and lower tidal zones. Salt marshes can also experience dry seasons where the water experiences evaporation which increases the salinity of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. Comparing Beaks Of Eagles And Sara Teasdale s Poem The Flight In Robinson Jeffers poem The Beaks of Eagles and Sara Teasdale s poem The Flight , both authors incorporate an eagle to explore the human fundamentals of love and attachment. Jeffers utilizes the eagle in a way to explain the ideas of independency and the idea of moving on: her mate was shot long ago, she is now mated with a son of hers (7 9). Teasdale, however, uses the eagle to explore the themes of dependency. He depicts that if one dies the other can not live without them: When one of us goes, Let the other follow. (13 14) Both convey these themes with a melancholic tone as too show how in the end, death is what tests the nature of human beings. In The Beaks of Eagles , Jeffers portrays the eagle as an independent being. The being in this case represents a woman who has seen the worst in the world but still manages to stay intact: The she eagle is old, her mate was shot long ago, she is now mated with a son of her . (7 9) This notion conveys the fact that she has seen death and did not let it wound her forever. Jeffers goes on further to say that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 53. Veteran interview Essay Veteran Interview My grandfather, Larry, served in WWII. He enlisted and stationed at Camp Polk. He went through places like New Guinea and the Philippines during the war. When I asked him if he experienced any combat he said; yes, I experienced some combat. But most of the time I spent in combat was in a tank. Not too much action there. A typical day in my grandfathers life at the time was to wake up at the crack of dawn and get ready for a full day of combat, well at least for the ground troops that didn t have a tank to be protected by. Of course for him, driving a tank was easier then being a ground troop. So that made things a little easier. He told me every day the main thing he did, and I quote, kep my ... When I asked him if he lost any friends or people he served with in the war he said that he lost some friends in combat but he didn t talk much about that. He carried his sacred heart metal with him everywhere he went. He would pray for the war to end at night before he fell asleep. • 54. The Dispute Over Agricultural Trade Liberalization Between... In 2002, a dispute over agricultural trade liberalization between the United States and Brazil arose. Brazil filed a lawsuit against the United Stated in the World Trade Organization Dispute (WTO) Settlement System arguing that the subsidies the United States provided to US farmers violated WTO trade agreements and gave US farmers unfair advantages (Unit 7, lesson 5). Fortunately for Brazil, the World Trade Organizationagreed with their claim and authorized them to take punitive measures against the United States(Cengage unit 7, 3). As a result of that authorization, Brazil decided to impose tariffs and lift patent protections on US goods (Cengage unit 7, 3). In order to limit the damage that could have been created by Brazil s actions, the United States had to make a smart move. As a matter of fact, they decided to provide cottons to Brazilians rather than removing the subsidies. Over 150 Million in subsidies have been provided to the Brazilians, in 2010 so that Brazil do not impose punitive measures (Cengage unit 7, 3). There exists both, pros and cons for subsidizing U.S. farmers. In fact, US farmer strongly support subsidies claiming that it gives the US an important industry and helps the regulations. However, subsidizing US farmers has some consequences. The cons argue that subsidies provided to US agricultural producers create inefficiency in the global economy (unit 7). Also, according to economists, subsidizing stands in the way of the economy growth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. The Side Effect Of Loneliness Charmi Patel Barrett English 208 17 December 2014 Codependency: The Side Effect of Loneliness Sam Keen once wrote, There are two questions a man must ask himself: The first is Where am I going? and the second is Who will go with me? If you ever get these questions in the wrong order you are in trouble (Keen 12). It is the time of Great Depression and it is every man for himself. In this society it is typical to live and travel alone but some are unable to handle this life of loneliness and develop a reliance on codependency. Codependency is a psychological condition in which someone is in an unhealthy relationship that involves living with and providing care for another person with a pathological condition. Whether it is George codependent on Lennie or Candy dependent on his companions, the characters form a codependent relationship to avoid a life of misery. Analyzing Of Mice and Men through a psychoanalytic lens, Steinbeck elucidates the characters formation of unhealthy relationships, through their ego and superego, in order to satisfy their loneliness. Loneliness causes an individual to seek the company of another. George and Lennie became aware of this early on in their lives leading them to form a mutual dependence on each other. At the ranch, after being asked by Slim, George opens up about the incident in Weed, [George] Well, that girl rabbits in an tells the law she been raped. The guys in Weed start a party out to lynch Lennie (Steinbeck 44). In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
