The Causes Of Student Stress In Education
It is often said that college students of the current generation exhibit some of the highest recorded
stress levels. There are many theories as to why these stress levels continue to rise. Perhaps the
main reason behind this rising stress is the fact that society is choosing to acknowledge its
existence, thus making the terminology more commonly known and revealing its detrimental
effects the to the public. The purpose of this paper is to analyze what has changed over the years in
regards to education, what seem to be common stressors among students, how these students
learning mechanisms are affected, and how America can work to prevent academic stress.
An important topic to investigate in regards to stress levels includes that of differences between
generations. More specifically, it is important to analyze what has changed over the years; in doing
so, new findings as to why student stress levels are rising may be discovered. One example of a
change is simply the number of students choosing to enroll in college. Almost every year, college
admissions are increasing, mainly because it is becoming universally accepted to go to college and
attain a degree. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, Enrollment in degree
granting institutions increased by 11 percent from 1991 to 2001 and another 32 percent from 2001
to 2011 (Novotney, 2014). With more students enrolling in college, there will consequentially be
more students reporting feelings of stress and

William Carlos Williams Philomena Andronica And Gertrude...
William Carlos Williams Philomena Andronica and Gertrude Stein s Identity, a poem are both
visually and tonally very different texts. However, Stein and Williams have both used similar
approaches to literary form in their poems as can be seen in their non traditional approach to
meaning generation and rejection of grammatical convention. The poems also both show an interest
in the notion of identityand it s fluidity, although Stein employs repeated images in her
investigation whilst Williams approach lies in his clever use of parenthesis and vignette form.
The two texts both take an approach to punctuation and formatting that strays from grammatical
convention. The passage from Stein s Identity, a Poem presents a syntactic exploration of the idea
identity and self. By rejecting the form that the reader expects of a poem, Stein guides her
readers to an understanding of how language shapes identity. One example of this is the use of a
full stop where grammatical rule dictates there should be a question mark, and if the little dog is
not there is it alone. The lack of expected punctuation makes the reader question the idea that
meaning is dependent on grammatical conventions; why do we need a question mark in order to
understand the words as a question? Stein also uses a mixture of prose and poetic voice in her
poem. By contrasting lines such as I say two dogs but say a dog and a dog, which is distinctly
poetic, with lines with a prosaic tone The person

Attempt To Collect Honey
Walt Disney states, We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and trying new things,
because we are curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. In 1768, Matt and his
family lived all together in the bustling state of Massachusetts. Matt s father had purchased
territory in Maine knowing that their family would be one of the first settlers. Being the men of
the family, only Matt and his father traveled to Maine to build their new home. Once the log cabin
was fashioned, Matt s father journeyed back to Massachusetts to gather the rest of the family.
While his father was away Matt survived by solely eating rabbits and squirrels, but when his gun
was stolen the only option left for food gathering was a fishing pole. Eventually, after... Show more

After all the time spent in Maine, Matt craved anything sweet and desired something different
from meat. It was a perfect opportunity to explore other foods that he had not tasted in a while.
Matt had nothing better to do anyway. The cabin was boring. Food was running out. He was
lonely. Distracting himself by confiscating honey was a great way to occupy his time and have a
new adventure. The second reason Matt should attempt to collect honey is for a different diet.
Matt did not have many choices on what food he ate. However, when he seized the honey he
would. Eating from one food group solely contributed to Matt s unbalanced diet. Either he could
keep eating fish or he could bring some balance by adding honey into his diet. Honey would be a
delectable treat for Matt, not to mention a little taste of back home. His stomach would be content
with the yummy, yellow honey. The third reason Matt should attempt to collect honey is for
selfish ambitions. Just the thought of honey made Matt s mouth water like a giant, gushing river.
Matt craved the honey. Matt needed the honey. Matt deserved the honey. At thirteen years old
Matt learned how to survive on his own. Not only did was his family away, but no one was
around! Matt earned to have some honey because of all the hard work he had done by himself. He
single handedly took care of the house, hunted for food and tried to keep up with their

Cormac Mccarthy The Road
The Road, published in 2006, and written by Cormac McCarthy, is a book of it s own. You can t
compare it to another, because there is arguably no book quite like it. Many think that while the
novel is not as popular as McCarthy s best works, it gives you just as much to read and think about.
McCarthy did this through various literary devices.McCarthy s dark themes, original Southern
Culture, vivid dialogue, unique lack of punctuation, concealed structure, and exotic characters, are
all significant in The Road. The theme of death and evil is found in most of McCarthy s writing.
However, The Road is often singled out as one of McCarthy s darkest books. There is constantly

Specifically, we are going to talk about the role violence plays in his characters. McCarthy, like I
said earlier, doesn t hesitate to fill his writing with violence. This greatly affects his characters he

Destitutes, criminals, or both. (Online Web) In The Road, the two main characters aren t
criminals, they re good guys. However, they are destitutes, living without the necessities in life.
They are forced into brutal situations, such as when a man they don t know has a knife and the

I m going to blow your brains out. (McCarthy 66) Later on, you get to feel more of McCarthy s
intense characters, and violent plots, (Online Web) when the man Leveled the pistol and fired from
a two handed position on two knees. (McCarthy 66) In McCarthy s book, the protagonists are
forced to do things that you would typically see from antagonists, and this adds to the novel s

survival. They will try to do the right thing, but in the end, they must

Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglas
November 29, 2002
Problematic:
Why was it so important for slave owners that their slaves should remain ignorant and what
strategies did they use to achieve this goal?
If you give a nigger an inch, he will take an ell. A nigger should know nothing but to obey his
master to do as he is told to do , a sentence said by Mr Auld in the Narrative of the Life of Frederick
Douglas, written by himself (Boston 1845).
Since last year, I have been interested in slave narratives and I read some about them. And each
time, or almost, I noticed many common features in those books. As we already know, slaves were
generally ill treated, whipped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Otherwise, what could justify this condition of slaves? Once more, in order to justify their
ownership of other human beings, slave owners must constantly deny the humanity of their slaves.
To convince themselves that their slaves are not quite human, slave owners treat them inhumanely.
Even if some slaveholders were deeply convinced that black people were white men s equal, they
had to deny it or else slavery would stop. This is what Frederick Douglas called the evil of slavery
in his narrative when good natured slave owners had to forget their own feelings and to behave
very severely toward them for the continuation of slavery. In treating their slaves like beasts, the
masters became one themselves.
Then, slave owners separated young slaves from their family very early so as to avoid strong
alliances among the slaves which could be a serious threat to their hold on power. On the
contrary, they wanted to develop a sense of individuality and rivalry among slaves, they were
trying to divide them. For example, slave owners rewarded slaves for giving information on one
another. This is how they partially prevented slaves from forming organized rebellions. There is
an example which shows the efficiency of this practice in Frederick Douglas s narrative since he
is betrayed, probably by one of his closest friend on his first attempt to escape

The systems are to be installed in the Starshine Electronics Company.
The following is a diagram explaining the various steps involved in the purchasing process. The
first step involved is to identify the need for certain goods. These can be in form of raw materials
or equipments. The need must be felt and identified before taking any step to purchase the product.
For example, Starshine Electronics may want to offer transport as an after sale services to their
customers. In order to do this, a vehicle is required. The need of this vehicle is then identified and
the first step in purchasing the product is put into action.
The second step involves selecting the specific type of product that Starshine Electronics desires to
purchase according to their needs. There are various types of products that can be used to do a
given function and hence there is need to decide the product that suits you better. For example,
there are many types of vehicles in the market from different manufacturers and hence Starshine
Electronics should decide on the best model from a particular manufacturer to order. After selecting
the product, a purchase team needs to be appointed or selected. The formation of the team helps
greatly in the management of the purchase process through conducting research, analyzing the
findings and planning on the necessary technical specifications for the product and the process
involved in purchasing the product. Research about the product

The Supreme Law Of The Land
The Executive Branch which carries out laws by the President of the United States, Vice President
and Cabinet, whereas the Legislative Branch is where the Congress makes the laws. With each
branch being able to change the acts of the other branches, this is only if a president vetoes a law
that Congress has passed or if the Justice of Supreme Courts overturns an unconstitutional law and
if Congress accepts (USA.gov). Even though the connection among Congress and the President of
the United Statesis far different then the Founders imagined set forth in the Constitution, for many
reason the presidency assumed more power than the legislative branch over time.
The Constitution in all its glory holds, as the supreme law of the land , in that it controls the limits
of power that the legislative and executive branches have (Arnold 4). Before the Constitution the
executive branch had no provisions to implement the laws and no national court system to translate
them (U.S. Department of State). Then with the Articles of Confederation and the period in
between the drafting of the Constitution in 1787, was the only national government, the legislation
congress (U.S. Department of State). As the executive branch being the biggest branch in the
federal government it also seen as the most powerful as the President of the United States is at the
head (Arnold 13). Since the President of the United States governs the executive branch, article II

Louis Sullivan s Influence On Modern Architecture
Though not considered by most to be an author, Louis Sullivan, an architect, was an influential
figure whose works changed architecture for generations to come. His work was the beginning of
an entirely new style of architecture that rewrote the rules that govern the construction of buildings.
Without ever writinga book, Sullivan exemplified all the characteristics that make up a true author.
His most famous creation, the skyscraper, continues to influence modern architecture in much the
same way that a book can convey its knowledge for many years. To begin, I contend that authorship
is not restricted to include only those who put pen to paper and create using words. Authorship is
the creation of any thing or idea, which may or may not be published. This explanation of
authorship is far broader than the conventional definition, but it fits much more closely to the
intentional meaning of someone who creates. The lines of the conventional term are frequently...

This phrase is heavily simplified logical appeal for the purpose of his buildings. It argues that the
beauty of the building should come second to, and arise from, the utility of the structure. Beauty
will follow naturally with a building that serves the needs of its occupants well. It is strongly
indicative of the trend of industrialization, which sought increasingly efficient methods of creation
in order to increase profit, which was an appealing idea to many Americans.
The phrase also serves to appeal to the strong feelings of patriotism, as it helped to define the new,
distinctly American form of architecture known as the skyscraper. Previously, many buildings were
built in the same heavy style of European architecture. The newer, lighter steel frame buildings like
the Wainwright displayed a new American style of building that no longer relied on the old
European style ( Wainwright

Similarities And Differences Of The Three Rondavels
The comparison between the three Rondavels and the Three Sisters
1 Introduction
The three Rondavels in Mpumalanga and the Three Sisters in Northern Cape are geographical
landforms that are similar but found in two different provinces. In this essay differences and
similarities in appearance, structure, location, geology and climate of these landforms will be
discussed.
2 The Three Rondavels description
The Three Rondavels are located in the Blyde River Canyon region Anon (2006). These Three
Rondavels are round mountains with peaks that are formed in a shape of an African Hut. They
attained this shape as a result of erosion agents. The soft rocks that are found on the upper surface
are removed leaving the tough rocks such as quartzite shown, ... Show more content on

4.2 Structure
Both of the landforms have three head like structure that are made out of the sedimentary rock
Williams and Marsh (2009:391). They both contain the resistant rocks dolerite and quartzite, which
are hard to erode. (Jasper Stefan, 2015:14)
4.3 Location They Three Sisters and Three Rondavels are both found in South Africaand are
geotourism. These places are surrounded by lodging industries that serves as tourism attraction and
make income.
4.4 Geology
Both of these geographical landforms have the peaks that are resistance to erosion and they are
formed as soft rocks and soils got washed away on the upper surface. The three Rondavels have
tough slate and quartzite . (Jasper Stefan, 2015:14). The Three Sisters consists of dolerite, making
it impossible to get eroded easily on the top, and they both have the soft rocks at the sides that can
be easily eroded giving them the three round peaks.
4.5 Climate
The two landforms are similar but have different climate conditions. This is because they
experience different temperatures and rainfall. The Three Rondavels are in a more arid place and
they tend to be dry. They receive less rainfall and have high temperatures. The Three Sisters are in
the subtropical experiencing wet and humid climate

We Need The Microwave Can Be Good, But Dangerous With Sparky
Microwave can be good, but dangerous with sparky You should not put sparky in the microwave
because you might damage your expensive microwaves. Nowadays, microwaves are commonly
used due to their rapidity in getting our food or drinks warm. However, most people are ignorant
of the fact that not all objects can get into our microwaves, it does not matter how expensive or
cheap the microwave is. Without withstanding as Sophocles said the only crime is pride is
important for us not to ignore some important cause of sparks in our microwaves; a piece of
metal forgotten in a microwave is enough to cause a spark, this is also the same with the use of
foil covering as many who have tried using it will agree with me they experienced a spark of fire
burnt. Again sometimes the spark in the microwave could be as a result of high voltage, it can
also be as a result of damage rack support, which can cause the microwaves to peel and as such
causing the heat coming from the microwave to have direct contact with the peeled surfaced,
thereby causing an explosion. Moreover, as Linder Fisher Thornton said, Face the complexity
involved in making ethical choices. Though some people will be aware of the danger in putting
sparky objects in the microwaves, others will still make a choice to try, as but this can lead to
some consequences like damaging our microwaves, this is true as Caroline A Ross a Toyota
professor of material and science engineering says that a metal

A Transitional Period of the Roaring 20 s in The Great Gatsby
The Roaring 20 s was a transitional period for the United States: New ideas, technologies, and
taste caused an immense shift in popular culture. The brassy flappers came into play and fueled
society s obsession with social class. Big businesses were bringing in money that fed the nation s
greed, and the combination of obsession with social class and greed unfortunately led to corruption
in the nation. In The Great Gatsby, a tragic love story, F. Scott Fitzgeralduses historical allusions to
depict the greed, obsession with social class, and the corruption that erected during the 1920 s.
A major purpose for Fitzgerald s use of historical allusions is to provide familiarity that a reader
can relate to. The Plaza Hotel is universally known as one of the most luxurious hotels in the
nation; guests find this luxury hotel to be a lavish oasis amid thriving city life .(The Plaza 1).
This is a notable detail because it set a positive expectation for the setting: it is associated with
wealth and power. When Gatsby, Tom, Daisy, and Jordan arrive to the hotel it is uncomfortably
hot, and there is a wedding going on in the lobby (Fitzgerald 132). The heat has the effect of
contradicting what a reader would expect from such a wealthy hotel, and adding to the suspense
that is bound to break the balance between Gatsby and Tom at any point. The wedding in the lobby
also has a contradicting effect because while the couple is getting married and excited for the rest
of their lives,

Similarities Between Animal Farm And Joseph Stalin
The story of Animal Farm is not just one of simple animals in a farm. Rather the tale uses
animals to symbolize the individual, classes, and event that took part in the Russian Revolution.
George Orwell, in Animal Farm, used Napoleon as an allegory for Joseph Stalin. He illustrates
the villainy as Napoleon starves, kills, and brainwashes his animals. Orwell compares Napoleon
and Stalin acts during and after the Russian Revolution. In Animal Farm the pigs represent the
most significant group of the Russian Revolution . In Orwell s novel, he demonstrates the pigs
acts to represent what Stalin did during the Russian revolution. Napoleon s actions mirror the way
Stalin mistreated, starved, and sent his people to gulags. In Animal Farm Napoleon knew how to
persuade the animals to think of him as a good leader and that his actions were for the better of the
good. Napoleon s desires were similar to Stalin s, because both wanted communism. Napoleon at
first represents revolutionary ideas, but once he was in charge he abused the power he was given
just like Stalin did.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Animal Farm Napoleon takes advantage of his animals and is very selfish because his actions
were based on ways that would benefit him. Orwell has him visualized as a greedy pig who steals
or takes belongings that were not his and would benefit him. For example, The puppies for whom
Napoleon had taken away from their mothers and reared privately. Napoleon actions compare to
Stalin s in multiple ways. For instance, Napoleon used the puppies to teach and manipulate them to
protect him. Orwell also has the puppies illustrated as Stalin s and Hitler s secret

The Role Of Spna As A Cell Wall
Figure 1: Kaplan Meier survival curves of wax worms infected with labelled dose (CFUs) of
GAS SpnA variants over 3 days **** P 0.05 (One way ANOVA) A methyl green assay allows
quantification of DNAse activity by measuring the change in absorbance as the methyl green
DNA complex is degraded (Sinicropi et al. 1994). The SpnA knockout had significantly lower
DNAse function than wildtype GAS whilst the non functional complements showed similar
activity to the knockouts and the functional complements showed an intermediate function in
between that of the knockout and that of the wildtype (Fig. 5) All strains showed higher activity
than buffer alone (Fig. 5). Discussion Previous experiments have characterised the role of SpnA
as a cell wall anchored DNAse important for immune evasion through the destruction of
neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) (Buchanan et al. 2006). While small scale in vivo
experiments in mice have been conducted (Hasegawa et al. 2010), a Galleria mellonella
infection model allows for a larger scale screening of mutants to further refine the role of SpnA
in GAS virulence. This is due to the lower cost, easy maintenance, small size and suitability of the
wax worm (Ramarao et al. 2012). In the above experiments, the role of SpnA in GAS virulence
was clearly demonstrated by the significant difference in killing and the health index of the
caterpillars between wild type and О”SpnA. They also revealed that complementation with cell

Women Oppression In Literature
We re Not Going To Take It: Women Oppression in Literature
What is oppression? Oppression is defined as prolonged cruel or unjust treatment ( Oppression par.
1) Women have experienced maltreatment since the Fall of Mankind. The subjection of women has
decreased within the past two centuries, due to their natural rights being acknowledged. Over the
years, people have protested the treatment of women through literature. Girl, Married Life,
Punishment, and The Declaration of Sentiments shares the theme of women s oppression. Despite
having the same themes, the authors use distinct social context and develop their arguments
differently.
Jamaica Kincaid, author of Girl, displays the unfair treatment of young women in Antiguan society.
In the poem, a girl is receiving a lecture on how to be a woman. She is not encouraged to be herself
or to gain an education. In fact, the mother continuously refers to her as a slut, the slut I know you
are so bent on becoming (Kincaid 1146) The role of the Antiguan woman is that of homemaker.
Berleant Schiller suggests, the domestic domain of women is sometimes implicitly regarded as
inferior (Berleant Schiller 254). Women in Antiguan society are taught extensively how to prepare
meals and set tables. Where and how an Antiguan family eat indicates their social standing
(Berleant Schiller 259). Kincaid identifies the importance of the meal place through the use of
repetition.

Genetic Engineering Is Responsible And Manipulating The...
A couple, a man and a woman, sit in front of a screen. The woman said, Let s choose brown hair
and grey eyes for him. Oh! He needs to be tall and smart, replied the man. What the couple is
doing is designing their future baby. It might sound crazy to be able to engineer one s children
genetically, but technological advancements in the medical and scientific fields have allowed this
as a possible option for potential parents. Genetic engineering is controlling and manipulating the
genes of an organism. Genetic engineering is usually used to improve the organism s functions;
these organisms are known as genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Genetic engineering is
commonly used for the food industry. One benefit that results from genetically modified foods is
the lowered prices for the products. However, there can be hazardous side effects such as the
creation of new toxins (Goldbas, 2014, p. 22). Likewise, mutations in the DNAcan occur from
genetically engineering a baby. In spite of the threatening effects to the baby s health from
genetic engineer, I believe giving people to the option to design their perfect babies allows for the
genetic tree of infertile parents to continue; however, I believe the range of genes that future
parents can select for their fetus has to be restricted to the genes the parents already carried in their
DNA. Before the concept of designing one s perfect baby can be grasp, one must understand the

Significance Of The Back And The Future Trilogy
The Significance of the Back to the Future Trilogy
Earlier this month, actor Michael J. Fox tweeted Only off by a year, not bad. Congrats @Cubs.
This is so heavy. (@realmikefox) His tweet was a reference to a prediction made in the 1989
film, Back to the Future Part II, in which Fox starred as the lead character of Marty. Even though
the film was released twenty seven years ago, and its predecessor was released four years prior to
that, the tweet itself garnered over eighteen thousand Twitter likes, showcasing that series relevance
alive in today s society.
The Back to the Future trilogy has made its way into the hearts of millions; still being loved now
just as much as when it was first released. The film trilogy, produced by Steven Spielberg and
directed by Robert Zemeckis, stars Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd as the lead characters.
Supporting actors include Lea Thompson, Thomas F. Wilson, and Crispen Glover. The storyline
follows Marty McFly (Fox) as he travels through time in a Delorean that has been manipulated
by his best friend, the kooky scientist, Doc Brown (Lloyd). Throughout three films, Marty
attempts to re align history and make it back to 1985 unharmed. The series was a success at the
box office, making almost one billion dollars worldwide between all three films (Thompson, 667).
In addition to the success it had when it was first released, Back to the Future is still relatable to
audiences today, many of which were born long after the decades

gained staple crops, sugar and coffee (Columbian Exchange). The exchange of disease occurred
such as smallpox, measles, and typhus. Some cuisines of countries were altered by the
Columbian exchange; it introduced a wide range of new calorically rich staple crops to the old
world namely potatoes, sweet potatoes, maize, and cassavas. The Europeans adapted tobacco.
Sugar cane was extremely important for the European masses (Columbian Exchange). The potato
provided a large supply of calories and nutrients, it had a positive growth on the population by
12%, and it effected urbanization by 47% as well (Columbian Exchange). Slaves were also
imported into the Americas because of the spread of old world diseases to native Americans, the
cultivation of highly priced old world crops such as sugar and coffee(Columbian Exchange). Over
all, the Columbian exchange helped form Europe and guided it to conquer the Americas
(Columbian Exchange). Furthermore, in the tables written by Jared Diamond and

The Influence Of Tattoos In The American Culture
Tattoos have become more prominent in recent years in American Culture, as well as all over
the world. Approximately one out of every five Americans have a tattoo. The American Heritage
Science Dictionary defines a tattoo as a permanent mark or design made on the skin by a
process of pricking and ingraining an indelible pigment . Many individuals choose to utilize their
own bodies as an artistic medium to create visible bodily expressions of their inner selves. For
many years, humans have used tattoos to adorn their bodies for multiple reasons personal
independence, religious beliefs, in remembrance of a loved one, showing allegiance to a country,
or gaining involvement in a social organization, club or gang. Historically, tattoos date back over
thousands of years and were created to beautify, shock, humiliate, or narrate. Tattoos can vary by
design, employing words, images, or a combination of both. There are thousands of fonts to choose
from, varying from basic to highly ornate. Pictorial tattoos are chosen by an individualto represent a
personal event, relationship or connection. Tattoos vary in size, shape, and color, and can be very
influential and meaningful. Aspects of the tattoo depend on the preference of the individual. Two
people could have the exact same tattoo, however, the tattoo could mean something different to
each individual. Often times, individuals even get matching tattoos as a way to show affection or
love for one another. Tattoos have become more

My Experience At A Children s Camp
The past few days of observation are based upon my final week as a coordinator for a children s
camp. Including my interactions with people as our programs are winding down and the
unexpected realities of what was going on outside of the camp. In this week I experienced; upward
social comparison, availability heuristic, mortality salience and social cognition.
Upward social comparison I participated in a panel discussing the benefits of advanced
placement classes. In my discussion of my personal experiences, I talked about comparing
myself to my more intelligent classmates. In high school I felt like I was not as mart as my
classmates. I discussed how it made me work harder, I wanted to be at what I perceived was a
higher level. The example in the book mentioned studies of people using upward social
comparison to motivate themselves to success (pg. 86). As mentioned by the text upwards
social comparison can be a positive tool for motivation. The textbook also spoke about the
dangers of comparing yourself with others if a person does not believe they can reach what they
are aspiring to be. I recognize what the danger in upward social comparison could be, it would be
hard to process failure if you lived your entire life comparing yourself to others. I do not know if I
thought I could reach what I was comparing myself to, but I believe I benefited from the push.
Eventually, I no longer relied the comparison.
Availability Heuristic In my closing duties, I evaluated

Floor Supervisor Case Summary
In this case study, an employee named Sarah gets a new managerial position. As part of this new
position, Sarah is now in charge of overseeing her company s production factory. Although Sarah
has not worked in the factory before, or has no experience in a factory, she was still put in charge.
At the end of the first day of overseeing the factory, Sarah becomes very concerned with the large
amount of workers still there and working overtime. To get an explanation, Sarah went to one of
her Floor Supervisors to get an explanation. The Floor Supervisor explains in order to meet the
company s production goals, the factory workers work off the clock after their paid hours. It is then
explained to Sarah that this practice, although illegal, is know throughout upper management, all the

This not only solves the legality situation that the company faces, but it also gives the workers
their days back. Those factory workers are people too. This solution falls under the Kantian
school of ethics. This school of ethics was established by Immanuel Kant and is all about the
individual. Kant argues that people should be treated like the actual human beings that they are
and not just some piece of property that is to be used to achieve the end goal of a company. The
current way this company is treating their factory workers is like they are just pieces of property.
If Sarah is to stop the illegal overtime, she is showing that the employees matter and that she cares
for those workers. These workers most likely have families, and by making them work this
overtime, you are not only hurting the workers, you are hurting the families too. You are hurting
the families by taking time away from the worker being with their family and you are not giving
them the proper compensation for that taken

Cobra Vs Car Research Paper
This article they are talking about two very historic cars the ,96 mustang svt cobra and the
camaro ss. my opinion the cobra was a much better car than the camaro was . much better
looking and just was a nicer car. The SVT Cobra had a different motor in it , it had a 4.6L v8
instead of the 5L v8. with the 4.6L it was vastly improved with the accessory drive, engine block
lightweight valvetrain, precision balanced reciprocating mass, and cross bolted main bearing.
With all this the motor produces 305 hp at 5800 rpm s at peak and max tq 300 ft lb at 4800 rpm s.
With the performance boost it now competes with BMWand Mercedes. Also, the suspension was
also fixed, it was made to be softer to get a better and more comfortable ride and in which... Show

The power it makes is sold at 305 hp but said it makes upwards of 340 hp. The handling on the ss is
improved with a larger diameter front antiroll bar and revised rear track bar. ZR 1 style 17x9
inch rims with ss callouts and BFGoodrich 275/40ZR17 tires show off the stock Z/28 four wheel
anti lock disc brakes(10.7 inch in in the front and 11.4 inch in the rear). Also you could get an
option to get sport suspension package ($999) with bilstein shocks and heavier progressive rate
springs.
The seats in the SS is much more equipped for track racing than the cobra, when you get into the
SS it s like you re in a fighter jet, the seats are supportive enough for all but the most grueling
competition, and the steering wheel has a beefy corvette like heft that inspires driving at the
brink. There test car was also equipped with the $349 Hurst shifter option. To a man, everyone
enjoyed its precise, short throw gear selection and rock solid feel. The SS has a new hood and a
revised deck lid spoiler. But the only way to actually get a Camaro SS you must order a Z/28
with a R7T code ( the ss option) and the QLC tire option (to get the 150 mph speedo and non
speed limiting ECM) and the GU5 axle package (automatics only). At the end of the day in all
reality the Cobra is over all the better car Between these two in everyday use it has a much more

Online Classes vs. Traditional Classroom Learning
Online Classes vs. Traditional Classroom Learning
When deciding to take college courses there are many choices you have to make. One of the more
important choices is where you plan to take your classes. Online classes are becoming increasingly
popular because they can be easier to fit into a busy schedule, but some people still argue that
nothing beats a traditional classroom setting. Having the option of online classes makes continuing
an education more appealing to people that have to balance many other responsibilities like family,
jobs, etc. Online classes and the traditional classroom setting both offer many of the same
advantages. They both provide the student with the same course content so there is no loss of
curriculum between the two. Both demand the same time investment for learning, studying, taking
exams, completing papers, and so on. Although it seems easy to think that with doing all of your
school work online there isn t any personal interaction with professors and peers, however, that is
a common misconception. Online classes, like traditional ones, require a degree of contact with
your peers and professors. It may not be as personal interaction as raising your hand and being
called on, but you can e mail your professor at any time and there are discussion boards and forums
available for fellow students to communicate and help each other out. One of the most significant
differences between taking online classes and having the traditional

The next day, the 5th of November, at twelve, the delay would (morally speaking) expire; after that
time, Commander Farragut, faithful to his promise, was to turn the course to the southeast and
abandon forever the northern regions of the Pacific.
The frigate was then in 31 15 north latitude and 136 42 east longitude. The coast of Japan still
remained less than two hundred miles to leeward. Night was approaching. They had just struck
eight bells; large clouds veiled the face of the moon, then in its first quarter. The sea undulated
peaceably under the stern of the vessel.

The Apple Watch has a few changes, but not as much as the new IPhone 7. For example the
Apple Watch is now Waterproof. I would say that is the biggest change. It also has personalized

In the article I read today, they were talking about the flu shot. It s that season again and it s time

Ultimately, they are killed to satisfy a social hierarchy. With Lord of the Flies, William Golding
creates an allegory to the social cycle of mankind in a post world war world with fragile civil
structure. Resembling a political system, the littluns are left unnamed to assume the role of
common citizens. Piggy embodies the achievements and technology of man, Simon, instinctual
goodness, Jack, savagery, and Ralph, law and order. On this island, where the civilization fails,
first, the goodness is dispersed; second, the achievements of man are taken advantage of, fragile
and quick to fail; third, a war is unleashed, and civilization collapses; finally, anarchy and
savagery are held at bay. Piggy and Simon s deaths highlight the consequences of this cycle.
Golding s understanding of the fragileness of the modern world is evident, as the novel takes place
while a nuclear war is fought, presumably contested between two estranged human cultures, similar
to the instincts that battled on the island. It is only through Simon s comment to Ralph that
Golding provides a foreseeable end, and suggests his faith in the leaders of the real world. With
their rescue, the group of marooned British schoolboys return to a changed world, without Piggy
and Simon, only to reseed the elaborate social scheme of

Dna Essay
The beginning of this story can be considered as a joke. We just opened the secret of life, said
one of two men, who entered the Eagle pub in Cambridge 64 years ago. Those people did not
exaggerated. One of them was Francis Crick, another James Watson. Watson and Crick discovered
structure of deoxyribonucleic acid a substance that contains all hereditary information. A few
months after the historic statement in the pub came a careful publication of the work of two
researchers in the journal Nature (Watson and Crick 738 740). The article ended with the
assumption that the discovery of the structure of DNAcould explain the copying mechanisms of
genetic material. With the structure of DNA in hand, molecular biology became the fastest... Show

Watson cut out of the cardboard four types of nucleotide models guanine (G), cytosine (C),
thymine (T) and adenine (A) and began to lay them on the table. He discovered that adenine
binds to thymine, and guanine to cytosine on the principle of key lock. It is in this way two
strands of DNA are connected together, that is opposite to thymine, one thread will always
contain adenine from the other, and nothing else. The two strands of the Watson Crick model are
complementary to each other, so that wherever an adenine appears on one strand, a thymine
occurs directly opposite from it in the other strand (Garland 219). Watson and Crick got the
Nobel Prize in1958. The discovery of the spatial structure of DNA revolutionized the world of
science and led to many new discoveries without which it is impossible to imagine not only
modern science, but also modern life as a whole. In 60th another important discovery was made the
genetic code. DNA contains information about everything that is inherited, including the linear
structure of each protein in the body. Proteins, like DNA, represent long molecular chains of
amino acids. There are 20 amino acids. Accordingly, it was unclear how the language of DNA,
consisting of a four letter alphabet, is translated into the language of proteins, where 20 letters . It
revealed that the combination of three nucleotides of DNA clearly

1.2 Service recovery and customer handling
Service recovery and handling customer complaints is very important in the airline industry and
leads to customer satisfaction and loyalty. In the past, Jetstar in particular have had to put their
service recovery plans into action. For example, on the 16th of April 2007, a Jetstar flight was
cancelled with 300 Australian customers being stranded in the airport for 48 hours. Although
the article doesn t specify how Jetstar used service recovery whilst the customer were stranded,
it does state that Jetstar personally called each passenger to apologise, as well as telling them
they would receive another apology in writing and a $500 travel voucher with the possibility of
them being able to travel business class next time (Murphy, 2007). Although the compensation is
resonable, Jetstar should have apologised face to face whilst the customers were stranded in the
airport in order for the service recovery to be more successful. According to Lovelock et al, if the
response time for compliant handling is done immediately, 56% of those customers that are
involved will be satisfied (2004). It has also been discovered that 85% of the time, a customer
whom had a very serious complaint can be turned into a loyal customer, so long as the handling of

Beowulf As A Modern Hero Analysis
Whether ancient or modern, the distinctive characteristic of the heroic figure... Is willing to risk
death. (acculturated.com) Heroes are willing to face the fear of constant violent death and embrace
fate to have inner peace or exceptional value within themselves. The model hero in ancient times
was the type to kill and conquer just to be remembered whereas today, things have shimmered
down. Beowulf s effectiveness as a modern day herohas taught us something that will stick forever,
loyalty, courage, and bravery.
Beowulf show loyalty all throughout his poem and it shows that Beowulf did not just want
fame, he was after something else as well. One always says that there is always a reason why
one does things and there was a reason why Beowulf decided to face what he faced during his
heroic journey. Beowulf s only want is not only the want that he has for fame, but also the actions
and responsibilities that he takes on along with that task. Weather doing this or the reputation that
he also has the need to desire, he has a deeper meaning for all of this, which is the honor that his
father has previously earned. Being from the family that he from, he is obligated by blood to
follow in his fathers footstep. His loyalty to his deceased father was pretty much strong throughout
the whole poem. Beowulf shows loyalty when he helps the kingdom that his father had served.

Break even Analysis:
Currently, Orion produces the valve at a cost of $8,000 per unit and sells each unit for $10,000;
resulting in a 25% mark up. Orion has agreed to sell the modestly improved valve for $12,000 per
unit when the variable costs alone are $10,500; $8000 per unit manufacturing costs and $2,500 per
unit comprehensive test procedure costs. Orion has decreased its profit margin to 14% without
even considering fixed costs. If the short cut approach works, fixed costs would be $200,000, and
Orion needs to sell 133.33 units to breakeven. If the software design takes eight months, fixed cost
could be as high as $440,000 and Orion would need to sell 293.33 units to breakeven. However,
with a dramatically improved valve and fixed costs of $200,000 Orion will breakeven after selling
20 units and with fixed costs of $440,000, Orion will breakeven at 46.3 units.
Risk Analysis:
o There is only a 10% chance the entire project will fail; therefore, Orion should take the risk in
developing the product. o Orion regularly takes calculated risks to improve profits. One of Orion
s biggest risks involves the software development. Using a short cut approach and developing the
software within three months, the software development phase of the project has a 75% chance of
being completed at a cost of $120,000. However, if they are unsuccessful, it will cost Orion three
times as much, i.e., $360,000

Leadership Competencies And Leadership Skills
The ability and strength of an individual to achieve goals by supervising processes, guiding

Leadership competencies can be used to effectively select, develop and promote leaders in an

the required level of efficiency to perform a task assigned is known as skill whereas the quality
to accomplish the same is called as competency. When creating leadership competencies certain

Funerals
It s assumed that people have knowledge of what is appropriate planning for life after death, but
nobody is ever prepared; and that is why preplanning is necessary. Death and dying is a part of life
nobody likes to discuss, plain and simple, it makes us uncomfortable. This is a major contributor to
why no one plans ahead. Nobody likes to think about death, it isn t a pleasant thought to most of us.
However, unfortunately, in our lifetime, avoiding a funeralis inevitable.
In pursuing this further, there are several aspects to this topic; such as, preplanning, financial
planning, cost, and the surviving family members. Funeral planning is something we all will
have to do at one point in our lives, but where should we begin? It is a good idea to start with the
preplanning of the funeral. Preplanning is crucial; it provides piece of mind, especially for
surviving family. As said earlier, discussing one s mortality is an extremely uncomfortable topic;
however, by preplanning a funeral, it will relieve the family of having to make important
decisions during a period of immense stress and grief. Furthermore, preplanning gives time to
explore the options for a ceremony and allows time to discuss the financial aspects. It also gives a
chance to choose a funeral home that best suit ones needs and budget. Moreover, the first decision
that needs to be made

Building Houses For Needy Families
My grandfather gave me a hammer and nails as a small child and encouraged me to build
whatever I wanted, which began my love for building and working with my hands. This is why I
was immediately attracted to the idea of building houses for needy families through Habitat for
Humanity. Habitat for Humanity ( Habitat ) is a non profit organization that helps build homes
for people who can t afford a home on their own. Habitat for Humanity believes in building hope,
building homes and building better futures ( Habitat Cleveland County ). Habitat partners with
volunteers who share the same goals of helping others create better communities around the
world. The goal is to help families have a place they can call home. Habitat for Humanity is an
international organization that was created by Millard and Linda Fuller in 1976 ( The History ).
Millard was struggling in his life with what was important to him, which is what lead him to
search for a greater purpose. Therefore, Millard and his family sold all of their possessions,
donated the money and moved to a Christian community called Koinonia Farm ( The History ).
This is where his Christian faith led him to start building homes for low income people who were
trying but couldn t quite afford to build a home of their own. Millard and Koinonia Farm owner,
Clarence Jordan, developed the idea of providing housing to families with no profit and no interest
loans. With his new idea of partnership housing, Fuller and his

Why Do Companies Sign Non Compete Agreements
Why Companies Should Have Employees Sign Non Compete Agreements Non compete agreements
are an important matter that every company should take seriously. In fact, Nike recently settled a
lawsuit against formers designers who defected to Adidas to help them open up a design center in
New York (see http://www.businessinsider.com/nike settles lawsuit against designers 2015 6). Non
compete agreements are critical to protecting the company and its future profits. What are the Legal
Requirements for a Non Compete Agreement? Every non compete agreement must satisfy three
basic requirements. First, it must protect a genuine business interest. For example, this could be

Since information is power, any employees that discloses confidential information threatens the
financial health of the company. Non compete agreements also protect the investment that has been
made into recruiting, training and retaining top employees. Finally, having a non compete

Customer Benefits of Non Compete Agreements? Non compete agreements will also protect your
customer relationships. This is because sometimes when an employee leaves, their clients may
faithfully follow. Therefore, non compete agreements will increase the client confidence and
retention. Non compete agreements also help to clarify the professional expectations for
employees, which will improve their behavior with clients. What Happens if the Employee Breaks
the Non Compete Agreement? A court ordered injunction is the most common result of an
employee breaking a non compete agreement. This means that instead of seeking monetary
damages, the employer simply asks the court to enforce the non compete agreement by making the
employee leave their new employer. However, seeking compensatory damages due to loss of

Reflection About My Clinical Experience
Also, the objective is to find patient s document finding and correlate it with chronic disease
process of elderly adults. With this reflection, I will discuss what I ve learned, and my strengths
and weakness in my clinical experience.
Day 1
On Thursday the 9th, I worked with a patient who is a 74 years old male, with general weakness.
His admitting diagnosis was caused by the metastasis of prostate cancer to the bone. Talking to
the patient was an amazing experience for me because we liked the same thing such as the
NBA. He told me that he was a lawyer and that all of his children are grown up and successful.
He does a wife, who I did not see during my rotation. But, it was easy to talk to communicate with
him. I have always had social anxiety growing up. Talking to people had always been my
weakness because I was always worried about how people would perceive me when I talked.
However, now that I have grown up, I learned to look past my social anxiety. I learned that from
shutting my brain off that caused me overthink, facilitated me to ... Show more content on

I was slightly familiar with the foley catheter, however, I need some slight guidance. I knew that I
needed to drain the foley bag because it was slightly full, but I did not know where to unclamp to
drain it. The nurse s aid taught me how to unclamp the bag so I can drain the urine. I also
learned that when moving the patient who has a foley bag, it was important to make sure that the
patient is not going to get a UTI. UTI can be caused by holding the foley bag at a higher positon
causing the urine to backtrack. It is important to keep that in mind as a healthcare worker. I have
not been skill checked on foley catheters, however, I need to practice working around foley
catheters to protect the patient. I could always go on youtube and search videos on foley catheters
or I can use the perry and potter book to learn

Essay on Psychology Adrian Monk and OCD
Introduction
Adrian Monk, portrayed by actor Tony Shalhoub, is the main character in the USA Network
series MONK. Monk is a former homicide detective for the San Francisco Police Department,
suffering from an anxiety disorder known as obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), as well as
numerous phobias. After Monk s wife was murdered, his disorder worsened leading to his
suspension from the police force. When the series opens, Monk works as a private police homicide
consultant and undergoes therapy to overcome his anxiety disorder and phobias. He is assisted by a
private nurse who helps him cope with his disability on the job.
Part One Case Study
Character Background
The episode Happy Birthday Mr. Monk shows that Monk, born October, 17, ... Show more content

These symptoms never emerged in the series; rather, the viewer is led to believe that Mr. Monk
had OCD since he was born. However, the viewer is also informed in conversations with the
police sergeant and with Monk s nurse and therapist that what triggered this disorder was the
murder of his wife. Immediately after his wife died, his disorder worsened.
Outcome of Case
Monk s treatment was to go to Dr. Charles Kroger for psychotherapy that would aid him to cope
with his disorder. In the sessions, Mr. Monk talks about what he did during the day and the goals
he accomplished. The treatment is not entirely effective, but it helps Mr. Monk relax and get all
the stress out. In the long term, Mr. Monk cannot overcome his disorder because he cannot imagine
that he can be cured. In addition, he is not a risk taker, meaning he could never do anything that
would make him uncomfortable. Because of this, there is little hope that he will be able to
completely overcome his disorder. This makes sense because his disorder is inherited, and not
attributed to environmental causes.
Part Two Disease
Diagnostic Criteria
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a pattern of recurring obsessions and compulsions that are
severe enough to be time consuming and interfere with a person s daily functioning. They must
cause marked distress (such as pain or physical harm to the person) or significant impairment.
Usually, they take more than

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Public Goods
INTRODUCTION
PUBLIC GOODS
Public good is an item whose consumption is determined by society not by individual
consumers. Examples include national defense, law enforcement, parks. These goods are
financed by taxes because they are created for the welfare of public. Basically the goods which
can be consumed without reducing its availability to other individual and the other one is not
excluded are public goods. The vice versa of these goods are private goods. A private good is a
product that must be purchased to be consumed and its consumption is done by one individual. For
instance, candies: the person who would be purchasing them , would be having not the person did
not purchased.
A public good is an item consumed by society as a whole, for instance defense. This would be for
every citizen for the country, even the person who did not pay the tax. This gives us the one
characteristic of public good that is NON EXCLUDABLE. These goods are being produced for the
welfare of the whole society rather than focusing on one individual. While ... Show more content on

But the brewery would be willing to pay the chemical factory to reduce the amount of effluent,
because this will reduce the costs of brewery industry. Such a reduction in effluent may reduce the
chemical industry s profits, as the firm s output of chemicals and the effluents are in fixed
proportions and any reduction of effluent, thus, requires a reduction in output of the chemical
industry. If the reduction in the brewery industry s costs exceeds the reduction in the chemical
factory s profit, there are potential gains from trade and the original level of effluent cannot have
been efficient. This observation leads to a possible solution to the externality problem presented by

The Night With Her Husband At Her Side Essay
Audra slept fitfully that night with her husband at her side. Harboring this secret, the fact she
loved another man, made her feel as if she was doing a terrible wrong every moment of every day.
Would Carlton eventually be able to read it in her eyes? Hear her love for Maxen in her voice? And
further, did Audra loveCarlton? It seemed possible to love two men at the same time. Audra felt a
closeness to Carlton, an affinity for the man. She respected him. Cared for him. But after what he
d done, the weeks and weeks on end where he d been unwilling or unable to give up Owena, she
wondered if true, honest love for the man would ever manifest.
On occasion, after they made love, Audra experienced a deep connection to Carlton. But if she was
being honest with herself, that closeness didn t match her intense love for Maxen.
There seemed to be no reasonable solution to this quandary. The only solution was to stop loving
Maxen and love her husband. It sounded so simple to the ear, yet impossible for the heart.
Further, there was no one with whom she could discuss this situation. No one except... Rignuth?
She trusted him, and he trusted her in return. Still, to share something so dark and intimate didn t
seem like a good idea. If the matter was ever exposed, even accidentally... too risky.
One solution stood out above all other undertake the role of dutiful and loving wife. If she
pretended long enough, hard enough, perhaps the feelings would stick.
She turned her head and gazed at

Preparing Regular Education Teachers For Address The...
Preparing regular education teachers to address the diverse needs of children with special needs in
inclusive set up.
Rationale
Sri Lanka has accepted inclusive education as a policy which shows different education reforms.
Education reforms in 1997 supported the philosophy and practice of Inclusive Education. According
to the concept of inclusive education, the responsibility of addressing the needs of all children has
to be taken by regular education teachers. But the issues of addressing the diversity in the class
room has not been addressed in teacher education programmes which develops a large number of
teachers come into the education system. Spratt (2013) pointed out that teachers are not sufficiently
prepared to address the student differences in school which is relevant to the Sri Lankan context.
Alwis, (2000) and NEC (2003) highlight that there are no special strategies designed for the
students with special needs in mainstream schools and classes and that therefore teachers in Sri
Lanka are unable to cater to the requirements of children with special needs. However teachers
cannot address issues related to diversity with the knowledge that they posses and the
consequences will ultimately go to the children with special needs who are included in the regular
class rooms. If teachers are equipped well, it may influence them to address the needs of children
with special educational needs. According to Booth et al (2003) the way the teachers are empowered

  • 2. The Causes Of Student Stress In Education It is often said that college students of the current generation exhibit some of the highest recorded stress levels. There are many theories as to why these stress levels continue to rise. Perhaps the main reason behind this rising stress is the fact that society is choosing to acknowledge its existence, thus making the terminology more commonly known and revealing its detrimental effects the to the public. The purpose of this paper is to analyze what has changed over the years in regards to education, what seem to be common stressors among students, how these students learning mechanisms are affected, and how America can work to prevent academic stress. An important topic to investigate in regards to stress levels includes that of differences between generations. More specifically, it is important to analyze what has changed over the years; in doing so, new findings as to why student stress levels are rising may be discovered. One example of a change is simply the number of students choosing to enroll in college. Almost every year, college admissions are increasing, mainly because it is becoming universally accepted to go to college and attain a degree. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, Enrollment in degree granting institutions increased by 11 percent from 1991 to 2001 and another 32 percent from 2001 to 2011 (Novotney, 2014). William Carlos Williams Philomena Andronica and Gertrude Stein s Identity, a poem are both visually and tonally very different texts. However, Stein and Williams have both used similar approaches to literary form in their poems as can be seen in their non traditional approach to meaning generation and rejection of grammatical convention. The poems also both show an interest in the notion of identityand it s fluidity, although Stein employs repeated images in her investigation whilst Williams approach lies in his clever use of parenthesis and vignette form. The two texts both take an approach to punctuation and formatting that strays from grammatical convention. The passage from Stein s Identity, a Poem presents a syntactic exploration of the idea identity and self. By rejecting the form that the reader expects of a poem, Stein guides her readers to an understanding of how language shapes identity. One example of this is the use of a full stop where grammatical rule dictates there should be a question mark, and if the little dog is not there is it alone. The lack of expected punctuation makes the reader question the idea that meaning is dependent on grammatical conventions; why do we need a question mark in order to understand the words as a question? Stein also uses a mixture of prose and poetic voice in her poem. By contrasting lines such as I say two dogs but say a dog and a dog, which is distinctly poetic, with lines with a prosaic tone The person ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1768, Matt and his family lived all together in the bustling state of Massachusetts. Matt s father had purchased territory in Maine knowing that their family would be one of the first settlers. Being the men of the family, only Matt and his father traveled to Maine to build their new home. Once the log cabin was fashioned, Matt s father journeyed back to Massachusetts to gather the rest of the family. It was a perfect opportunity to explore other foods that he had not tasted in a while. Matt had nothing better to do anyway. The cabin was boring. Food was running out. He was lonely. Distracting himself by confiscating honey was a great way to occupy his time and have a new adventure. The second reason Matt should attempt to collect honey is for a different diet. Matt did not have many choices on what food he ate. However, when he seized the honey he would. Eating from one food group solely contributed to Matt s unbalanced diet. Either he could keep eating fish or he could bring some balance by adding honey into his diet. Honey would be a delectable treat for Matt, not to mention a little taste of back home. His stomach would be content with the yummy, yellow honey. The third reason Matt should attempt to collect honey is for selfish ambitions. Just the thought of honey made Matt s mouth water like a giant, gushing river. Matt craved the honey. Matt needed the honey. Matt deserved the honey. At thirteen years old Matt learned how to survive on his own. Not only did was his family away, but no one was around! To convince themselves that their slaves are not quite human, slave owners treat them inhumanely. Even if some slaveholders were deeply convinced that black people were white men s equal, they had to deny it or else slavery would stop. This is what Frederick Douglas called the evil of slavery in his narrative when good natured slave owners had to forget their own feelings and to behave very severely toward them for the continuation of slavery. In treating their slaves like beasts, the masters became one themselves. Then, slave owners separated young slaves from their family very early so as to avoid strong alliances among the slaves which could be a serious threat to their hold on power. On the contrary, they wanted to develop a sense of individuality and rivalry among slaves, they were trying to divide them. For example, slave owners rewarded slaves for giving information on one another. This is how they partially prevented slaves from forming organized rebellions. Without ever writinga book, Sullivan exemplified all the characteristics that make up a true author. His most famous creation, the skyscraper, continues to influence modern architecture in much the same way that a book can convey its knowledge for many years. To begin, I contend that authorship is not restricted to include only those who put pen to paper and create using words. We Need The Microwave Can Be Good, But Dangerous With Sparky Microwave can be good, but dangerous with sparky You should not put sparky in the microwave because you might damage your expensive microwaves. Nowadays, microwaves are commonly used due to their rapidity in getting our food or drinks warm. However, most people are ignorant of the fact that not all objects can get into our microwaves, it does not matter how expensive or cheap the microwave is. Without withstanding as Sophocles said the only crime is pride is important for us not to ignore some important cause of sparks in our microwaves; a piece of metal forgotten in a microwave is enough to cause a spark, this is also the same with the use of foil covering as many who have tried using it will agree with me they experienced a spark of fire burnt. Again sometimes the spark in the microwave could be as a result of high voltage, it can also be as a result of damage rack support, which can cause the microwaves to peel and as such causing the heat coming from the microwave to have direct contact with the peeled surfaced, thereby causing an explosion. Moreover, as Linder Fisher Thornton said, Face the complexity involved in making ethical choices. The brassy flappers came into play and fueled society s obsession with social class. Big businesses were bringing in money that fed the nation s greed, and the combination of obsession with social class and greed unfortunately led to corruption in the nation. In The Great Gatsby, a tragic love story, F. Scott Fitzgeralduses historical allusions to depict the greed, obsession with social class, and the corruption that erected during the 1920 s. A major purpose for Fitzgerald s use of historical allusions is to provide familiarity that a reader can relate to. The Plaza Hotel is universally known as one of the most luxurious hotels in the nation; guests find this luxury hotel to be a lavish oasis amid thriving city life .(The Plaza 1). This is a notable detail because it set a positive expectation for the setting: it is associated with wealth and power. When Gatsby, Tom, Daisy, and Jordan arrive to the hotel it is uncomfortably hot, and there is a wedding going on in the lobby (Fitzgerald 132). The heat has the effect of contradicting what a reader would expect from such a wealthy hotel, and adding to the suspense that is bound to break the balance between Gatsby and Tom at any point. The Role Of Spna As A Cell Wall Figure 1: Kaplan Meier survival curves of wax worms infected with labelled dose (CFUs) of GAS SpnA variants over 3 days **** P 0.05 (One way ANOVA) A methyl green assay allows quantification of DNAse activity by measuring the change in absorbance as the methyl green DNA complex is degraded (Sinicropi et al. 1994). The SpnA knockout had significantly lower DNAse function than wildtype GAS whilst the non functional complements showed similar activity to the knockouts and the functional complements showed an intermediate function in between that of the knockout and that of the wildtype (Fig. 5) All strains showed higher activity than buffer alone (Fig. 5). Discussion Previous experiments have characterised the role of SpnA as a cell wall anchored DNAse important for immune evasion through the destruction of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) (Buchanan et al. 2006). While small scale in vivo experiments in mice have been conducted (Hasegawa et al. 2010), a Galleria mellonella infection model allows for a larger scale screening of mutants to further refine the role of SpnA in GAS virulence. This is due to the lower cost, easy maintenance, small size and suitability of the wax worm (Ramarao et al. 2012). Oppression is defined as prolonged cruel or unjust treatment ( Oppression par. 1) Women have experienced maltreatment since the Fall of Mankind. The subjection of women has decreased within the past two centuries, due to their natural rights being acknowledged. Over the years, people have protested the treatment of women through literature. Girl, Married Life, Punishment, and The Declaration of Sentiments shares the theme of women s oppression. Despite having the same themes, the authors use distinct social context and develop their arguments differently. Jamaica Kincaid, author of Girl, displays the unfair treatment of young women in Antiguan society. In the poem, a girl is receiving a lecture on how to be a woman. She is not encouraged to be herself or to gain an education. In fact, the mother continuously refers to her as a slut, the slut I know you are so bent on becoming (Kincaid 1146) The role of the Antiguan woman is that of homemaker. Berleant Schiller suggests, the domestic domain of women is sometimes implicitly regarded as inferior (Berleant Schiller 254). To get an explanation, Sarah went to one of her Floor Supervisors to get an explanation. This not only solves the legality situation that the company faces, but it also gives the workers their days back. Those factory workers are people too. Kant argues that people should be treated like the actual human beings that they are and not just some piece of property that is to be used to achieve the end goal of a company. The current way this company is treating their factory workers is like they are just pieces of property. Cobra Vs Car Research Paper This article they are talking about two very historic cars the ,96 mustang svt cobra and the camaro ss. my opinion the cobra was a much better car than the camaro was . much better looking and just was a nicer car. The SVT Cobra had a different motor in it , it had a 4.6L v8 instead of the 5L v8. with the 4.6L it was vastly improved with the accessory drive, engine block lightweight valvetrain, precision balanced reciprocating mass, and cross bolted main bearing. With all this the motor produces 305 hp at 5800 rpm s at peak and max tq 300 ft lb at 4800 rpm s. With the performance boost it now competes with BMWand Mercedes. • 25. Online Classes vs. Traditional Classroom Learning Online Classes vs. Traditional Classroom Learning When deciding to take college courses there are many choices you have to make. One of the more important choices is where you plan to take your classes. Online classes are becoming increasingly popular because they can be easier to fit into a busy schedule, but some people still argue that nothing beats a traditional classroom setting. Having the option of online classes makes continuing an education more appealing to people that have to balance many other responsibilities like family, jobs, etc. Online classes and the traditional classroom setting both offer many of the same advantages. They both provide the student with the same course content so there is no loss of curriculum between the two. Both demand the same time investment for learning, studying, taking exams, completing papers, and so on. Although it seems easy to think that with doing all of your school work online there isn t any personal interaction with professors and peers, however, that is a common misconception. Online classes, like traditional ones, require a degree of contact with your peers and professors. It may not be as personal interaction as raising your hand and being called on, but you can e mail your professor at any time and there are discussion boards and forums available for fellow students to communicate and help each other out. Out of the older boys, leaders emerge and focus on the issues of the island, eventually creating a devastating divide. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ultimately, they are killed to satisfy a social hierarchy. With Lord of the Flies, William Golding creates an allegory to the social cycle of mankind in a post world war world with fragile civil structure. Resembling a political system, the littluns are left unnamed to assume the role of common citizens. Piggy embodies the achievements and technology of man, Simon, instinctual goodness, Jack, savagery, and Ralph, law and order. On this island, where the civilization fails, first, the goodness is dispersed; second, the achievements of man are taken advantage of, fragile and quick to fail; third, a war is unleashed, and civilization collapses; finally, anarchy and savagery are held at bay. Piggy and Simon s deaths highlight the consequences of this cycle. Golding s understanding of the fragileness of the modern world is evident, as the novel takes place while a nuclear war is fought, presumably contested between two estranged human cultures, similar to the instincts that battled on the island. It is only through Simon s comment to Ralph that Golding provides a foreseeable end, and suggests his faith in the leaders of the real world. Watson and Crick discovered structure of deoxyribonucleic acid a substance that contains all hereditary information. A few months after the historic statement in the pub came a careful publication of the work of two researchers in the journal Nature (Watson and Crick 738 740). It is in this way two strands of DNA are connected together, that is opposite to thymine, one thread will always contain adenine from the other, and nothing else. The two strands of the Watson Crick model are complementary to each other, so that wherever an adenine appears on one strand, a thymine occurs directly opposite from it in the other strand (Garland 219). In the past, Jetstar in particular have had to put their service recovery plans into action. For example, on the 16th of April 2007, a Jetstar flight was cancelled with 300 Australian customers being stranded in the airport for 48 hours. Although the compensation is resonable, Jetstar should have apologised face to face whilst the customers were stranded in the airport in order for the service recovery to be more successful. According to Lovelock et al, if the response time for compliant handling is done immediately, 56% of those customers that are involved will be satisfied (2004).
