The Motivation For Why People Go At University
The first key point that Levy discusses is the motivation for why people go to university. Levy
identifies three main reasons for students to attend university. The first reason is vocational. What
this means is that students go to university because they have recognised that gaining a higher
education and furthering their studies will provide them with a wider range of career opportunities.
The second reason is scholastic. This means that students go to universityfor personal enrichment
and for a love of learning, as they believe that a personal interest is essential to remaining at
university studies. They are not solely driven by the desire to gain more money. The third reason
is social. This means that students go to university for the social life. Levy discusses that the
reason for why these students have this motivation is due to them living close to the campus or still
living with their parents at home. He later discusses that they were unlikely to progress beyond the
first year of university a number of them realised that university is not about partying, it is all about
working hard.
Levy discusses that students later revealed numerous motivations for attending to university, not
just the common categories of vocational aspirations, scholastic or social opportunities. These
motivations were quite separate from the other factors. Some students felt compelled into attending
university not only by their parents but also their schools. Parents played a significant

The Blind Side Character Analysis
John Lee Hancock s film The Blind Side describes the struggles of an African American
becoming part of a white society. Micheal Or, the main character, shows us the audience how
black lower class Americans are mistreated and racism from white individuals. Micheal growing
up without a father and with a single mother can also show how generous and sweet he truly is.
The so called gentle giant being a staggering six foot four inches and three hundred fifteen
pounds was everything a college football player should be but with outside help he could put
this size to use. Trying to find each meal and a home to stay in every night is when the Tuohy
family takes him in and can see him for who he is and not how he is perceived in the community.
From there Hancock s movie shows us how the different issues of a white society such as
discrimination for race, and cultural differences can be a false door so to say. Based on character
development, a change in society, and plot twist that will leave the viewer wondering what will
happen next, The Blind Side is one of the best sports related movies about the struggle of racism.
Character development is what gets the movie viewer wrapped around a person in the story. In this
particular movie Michaelis an easy character to feel sorry for as well as fall in love with for being a
large man with a soft heart. Being in a third person view while watching this movie viewers can
see from the outside looking in that he feels neglected and does not

When Art And Religion Collide

Prof. Michael Amey
When Art and Religion Collide: My Name is Asher Lev
My Name is Asher Lev, by Chaim Potok, tells a story about a Hasid, young man driven by a
great passion: drawing. The character Asher Lev is presented within a Hasidic, Jewish
community. These Hasidic communities are very conservative in many aspects; they care deeply
and influence their members in a lot of decisions they make in life. The Rebbes of the Jews is the
man whose members of the community go to quite often for advice, as Asher s uncle Yitzchok said
to Aryeh, People go to the Rebbe because they have a cold (30). The relevance of the Rebbe is
shown in very early stages of the book when, for example, Asher s father explains to him how ...

Asher s personality is very intelligently described in the beginning of the book, when he argues
with his dad that drawing is not foolishness (12). He also tends to talk back to his authorities, and
often expresses his disagreements towards their ideas. This sort of behavior is very unusual for a boy
his age, coming from Hasid traditions. Asher is very curious, constantly asking questions, to the
point where it can be of irritation to his father. He sees the world differently, and he draws it as
such. As a young boy, his mother asks Asher to draw the world prettier , but he refused. He
claims that the world is not beautiful to him, and therefore he won t draw it as such. This almost
rebel like behavior isn t generally accepted in Asher s community. He doesn t want to follow the
standards that are set and that he s told he should follow, but he d rather express his art as he sees
it to be the most representative.
Asher has a profound connection with art, even in early stages of his childhood. It is his way of
interacting with the world around him, his form of expression. Asher s way of seeing the world
generally doesn t align with how his authorities want him to see it. At first, it is his mother who
asks him to draw the world prettier , but he refuses, and later when he draws the pictures for the
Mashpia. The drawings for the Mashpia are significant because they represent how much art really
meant to Asher. Drawing those pictures made him

Toni Jung Research Paper
Solitude can be a powerful catalyst for inspiration and emotion. Solitude reaches deep inside us
and plays on our imagination, hopes and inspiration. The long period of solitude influences Carl
Jung s psychological theory. Nina Sayers in Black Swan dwelling in her lonely soul tries to
dance perfectly in the chaotic world. Jung s analytic theory allows us to deeply analyze and
understand Nina Sayers in Black Swan. Carl Gustav Jung was born in 1875 in Switzerland. He

Little Foxes Analytical Essay
Every play written uses dramatic elements. The main dramatic elements are plot, character, theme,
and language. Lillian Hellman, who wrote the Little Foxes, incorporates these elements beautifully
in her play. The play is set during the spring of 1900 and takes place in the Deep South part of the
United States of America. Just as every other play, the Little Foxeshas included the dramatic
elements in her play, particularly the plot, character, and language that all incorporate an underlying
theme of greed.
The character, which includes the physiological and psychological makeup of each person in the
play, properly incorporated the greed and oppression of the time. Ben and Oscar are brothers who

There were also two servants in the house, whose parts although small, added a real sense of the
racial conflict of the time. These characters were perfectly created with their physiological and
psychological attributes that added the extra tension for the time. Horace and Regina also had a
daughter. Her name was Alexandra. Her character was also built really well, except that she was
too passive and did not react as well as she should have while Regina mentally destroyed Horace.
Lastly, there is the brief appearance of the character named Mr. Marshall. This character although
very small was created extremely well. Just like Ben and Oscar, he had only one thing on his
mind. Although his ulterior motive was greed, he hid that very well while he pretended to have a
good time making friends with the family. Then when it came down to business, he was very keen
and right to the point. Greed.
Not only are the characters created exceptionally well, but the plot of the Little Foxes was also
very beautifully planed out and written with the underlying theme of greed showing up throughout
it. This is a major strength of the play. This play takes place in a little picturesque home in the
South of the US with a prosperous but oppressive family during the spring of 1900. This is where
the tension starts to build. The play starts out with a family gathering. The audience finds out at the
end of this gathering that Ben s ambition is to erect a

Djambalula Bark Tree Essay
The painting is done by artist Djambalula (1908 1960), the Aborigene from Northern Australia.
Unfortunately there is no information about him, except few photos of paintings that he produced,
all of which are expected in traditional style. Djambalula follows the artistic convention of
Australian Aborigines that was established thousand years ago. The paintingis done on the small
tree bark, approximately 13 x 16 in. Bark tree is a traditional medium for Australian visual art,
along with rock and cave painting.
On the paintings we see 24 human like figures organized in three rows. The artist use white paint
against dark brownish background of tree bark. All figures look alike except five females in the
middle register, who can be identified by protruding breasts. Women hold some kind of rope or
curved stick, men are playing musical instruments and holding boomerangs. There are two figures
on the left side of the bottom register, that look like adult and child (based on the different size).
These two are placed in some kind of rectangular enclosure, it seems they are standing on a
foreground in front of the procession. They might be just observers of the ceremony, or about ...

Therefore life of such objects is quite short. It is unknown if Mimi Ceremony took part in any
ritual, or the artist made it as an educational device or he aimed to preserve and continue the
tradition. He might produced it for sale or someone acquired it after his death. The most important
that Djambalula was the native artist who worked in the tradition of his ancestors. That is why the
unique art of Australian Aborigines can survive. Mimi Ceremony represents a sacred event and can
be almost identical to the painting produced centuries ago, since for Australians only the exact
replication of visual patterns and performance can guarantee the response of the Dreamtime spirits

The Admission Fee At Disneyland Park Essay
In 1955 the admission fee to only get into the Disneyland park was only $1.00 and rides were
from 10c to 75c. They also had ticket books available where you could buy admission and 8 rides
for $2.50. After three months A Day at Disneyland was introduced which included admission
and 10 rides in one set price. All the rides were categorized from A to E with the A rides being
cheaper and E rides were the more expensive and popular rides. There were different sized ticket
books which varied in the amounts that each ticket could be used. There were never enough of
the D and E tickets in the books so Disney set up Ticket Booths in each park (Fantasyland had two),
where people could purchase additional rides they needed which priced from 10c to 90c each. All
the rides had to keep getting re categorized over the years as new rides were being developed and
the older rides became less popular. In 1980 Disney raised the admission price to $10.00 USD
which included admission into the parks and 10 rides. When the Epcot park was opened the
coupons would not work so on October 1, 1982 all of the parks created a pay one price per park.
This meant people had to pay to get into each park separately. In 1982, Disney dropped the idea of
individual ride tickets to a single admission price with unlimited access to all attractions. When
Walt DisneyWorld opened in 1971, tickets to get in were only $3.50 USD. In 1994 park hopping
was created where one person could hop between the parks

Internet Neutrality
Who owns the internet? The common opinion is that the web is a free and equal source for all its
users, belonging to no one and everyone at the same time, however the increasing monopolization
of content producers and methods of access has become a major cause for concern. As a unified,
single entity, the Internetdoes not belong to any single person or organization, but the quality and
levels of access available are dependent on thousands of corporate groups and impact every internet
user. While once seen as an equalizing field, discussions of web fast lanes, private platforms, and
pay for play access have turned the once obviously neutral Internet into a highly contested structure.
Net neutrality is a step forward towards ensuring a future... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The preferential leveraging of certain websites by telos and ISPs inherently implies reduced
access to others, Panda explains, ...this could lead to blocking others, either fully or, with choked
access... ISPs are the gateway through which all access must pass. Millions of web pages,
platforms, app, services, with any and all types of information and resources available. There are
small, niche sites (Reddit forums on Twilight Zone special features) to large, global content (the
DOW summary) available at all hours of the day, and while the educational value of each of these
would undoubtedly vary from person to person, access to both of these does not. Comparatively,
in a world without net neutrality equalized education is constantly at risk depending on their
whims of the ISP. Attempting to access event coverage on FOX news could be slowed or blocked
completely if Comcast is your internet service provider. This not only leads to biased or even
misinformation, but further monetizes the very nature of education. Paid prioritization, where
those with the most financial resources can speed up access to their content, would hurt public
and non profit content providers, such as libraries, that cannot afford a fast lane for research and
archival collections (Long). Additionally, because content providers that pay more for fast lanes
could pass extra charges on to consumers for access to organizations that have not paid for such
lanes, leading libraries and schools to end up paying more for commercial content while still losing
their consumer base. ISPs are businesses at their core and thus have financial incentives to favor
their own content over others, but once customers pay for their internet access, they should have the
rights to choose the content they access. When someone purchases a car, they determine the route

Ravers Persuasive Essay
According to ravers, raves are an evolutionary type of party that everyone should experience. In a
society that is constantly changing, raves have come to be a part of evolution. It s been told that
raves started out as a secretive late after hour parties held in clubs, commercial buildings, and
even private homes for invited guests only. Its popularity did not uncover until the early 1990 s.
Drugs are a big part of raves, approximately 90% of the people that attended raves are under the
influence of some kind of drug. In the very beginning acid and marijuana were the most common
drugs until the appearance of ecstasy. Ravers simply call ecstasy by its short name E or X. The

They feel they are still able to control their negative and positive influence; meaning that they
were willing to do things that they felt comfortable with. Unlike being under the influence of
alcoholic beverages, ravers are able to maintain their sexual behavior because they are still intact
with their conscience. Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, and the Grateful Dead all admitted to using
LSD in the 60 s. LSD causes extreme changes in mood, anywhere from a spaced out bliss to
intense terror, are also experienced. The worst part is that the LSD user is unable to tell which
sensations are created by the drug and which are part of reality. The sixties saw harder and more
dangerous drugs like heroin began finding their popularity in the music scene. In 1970 Jimi
Hendrix died of from choking on his vomit after a night of partying and an excessive amount of
sleeping pills; also that year, Janis Joplin was found dead of a heroin overdose. Jim Morrison was

freedom, creativity, and love, the Seventies culture was darker, and in some ways more

Kogawa s family was sent to an internment camp for Japanese Canadians during World Word II.
Therefore, the poet s history with racism has greatly impacted her and influences her writing

`` Bless Me, Ultima Antonio s Revelations That Would...
Simone Blount L.A.P

Topic of Choice: Cite and Analyze three specific characters or events which lead Tony s revelations
that would later foster his religious ambivalence
The wisest man asks questions pertaining to the complexities of life. However, when no
answers are delivered said man seeks answers in a place that seems most correct. The spiritual
life relies on believers who have strong fundamental beliefs in hope. The unshaken foundation
relies on believers who give their everlasting hope and have solace in this faith alone. The faith
goes deeper than understanding, but full reliance on the church and its holy deities to solve the
world s most mysterious questions, cure even the most powerful illness and still have faith when
such actions do not occur. In Rudolfo Anaya s Bless Me, Ultima Antonio sought to find the
answers he was so desperately in search for, however he never received an answer. Antonio s
religious ambivalence is created through his journey of life from several encounters, life and death
alike, and not receiving answers to the questions that he most desperately sought for. The aspect of
Antonio s ideal benevolent God verses the God he was presented, and external sources, would all
create different epiphanies that would lead him astray from the traditional church and into other
spiritual realms. These realms would be an outlet for him to receive enlightenment to the situations
of which he was presented.

Charter Of Rights And Freedoms
Charter of Rights and Freedoms
The Canadian constitution is the foundation that forms and brings together our nation government
and its legal system. You can also consider the constitution as a rulebook. It contains rules and
regulations that political parties must follow in order to adopt, amend, or revoke a law. The
constitution has three main sources. In 1867 the British North American Act passed, which was the
first source of the constitution. A change was made to the BNA act and was patriated in 1982. It
was then officially called the Constitution Act 1867. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms
were included in the amendments that were added to the Constitution in 1982. The act was
renamed Constitution Act 1982. The second source is the unwritten set of rules and conventions,
which is crucial in Canadian law. These rules usually are developed and later on used by
important politicians and government officials. The last source of the constitution is the court
rulings and decisions. When there are disputes or conflicts to solve, the courts are called upon to
resolve them. The charter of rights and freedoms is known as the most important piece of
paperwork to any living Canadian. (Alexandraowicz 104). It is made up of 34 sections and 9
subsections. The most significant subtopics in the charter are our fundamental freedoms, legal and
equality rights. These rights allow us to speak and do as we will under a reasonable limit, protect

Taking a Look at Heat Transplantation
Introduction
In everyday life, we regularly come across the terms such as heat, temperature, cool, etc. But what
do those terms actually mean? So in this essay, we are going to learn the real meanings of those
terms and how the heat is transferred from a place to place, and understand the real context of
those terms in everyday life.
Everyone has felt heat, but what is it? The simple answer is that heat is energy. In physics heat is
identified as a source of energy and can be observed only when it is transferring from a one place
to another. All matter in the universe, is made up of molecules and atoms. These atoms are always
in different types of motion and this motion of atoms and molecules creates heat or thermal energy.
All matter has this thermal energy. The more motion the atoms or molecules have the more heat or
thermal energy they will have.
Heat always tends to travel from a place to place whenever there is a suitable physical pathway
exists between the source object and the destination object. In addition, it will always be
travelling from a hotter object to cooler object. Heat travels in waves like other forms of energy,
and can change the matter it touches. It can heat matter up by the molecules the move or it can
cause chemical reactions like burning to occur. The path will be either direct or indirect depending
on the mode of transfer of heat. Heat can travel from one place to another in three ways:
Conduction
Convection
Radiation
Both conduction and

Amnesia
A.Evaluate evidence that non declarative long term memory is preserved in amnesia.
Amnesic patients tend to suffer from permanent or temporal, normally partial or total loss of
episodic memory and an impaired capacity to form and store new memories. On the other hand,
they seem to demonstrate unimpaired performance of behaviours involving prior experiences on
tests which do not require any intentional or conscious recollection of those experiences (Schacter,
1992). Hence, most amnesic patients demonstrate the ability to retain and learn new behaviours
through priming and conditioning, and acquire new perceptual, cognitive, motor and emotional
skills which cannot be traced back to an explicit memory but can be demonstrated implicitly. ...

The combined findings provide the foundation for the hypothesis that there is more than one kind
of memory, or rather that skill based memories must be organised differently from fact based
memories since the former seem to be preserved in amnesia as opposed to the latter.
Further supportive evidence comes from priming studies; priming refers to the improved capacity
for detecting or processing a novel or familiar stimuli based on recent experience (Tulving Schater,
1990). In a famous study by Heist et al. (1991) amnesic patients and control subjects studied words
and non words. They were then given a perceptual identification test with briefly presented
previously studied and unstudied items. Perceptual priming was measured as the increase in the
probability of identifying the former versus the letter items. Amnesic patients exhibited entirely
normal priming for both old words and non words. On the other hand, they showed significant
impairment in recognizing items that had appeared on the administered test. Priming of non words
did not appear to be based on the activation of words that were phonologically or orthographically
similar to the non words. The non word results suggest that priming can involve the acquisition of
new information, rather than simply the activation of pre existing representations. Researchers
concluded that intact perceptual priming in amnesic patients reflects specific changes

Pricing vs. Costing
To determine the price for the product or service, the firm must understand the costs for running the
business. If the price is not enough to recover costs, the cash flow will be negative and the business
will fail.
Costs include: o Property and equipment leases o Loan repayments o Inventory o Utilities o
Financing costs o Salaries/wages/commissions. o Markdowns o Shortages o Damaged merchandise
o Employee discounts o Desired profit
Profit should be added to the list of costs and treated as a fixed cost. Nobody runs a business just to
break even.
Pricing as a Component of the Marketing Mix
Generally, marketing mix denotes the four Ps of marketing:
Product
Price
Place (distribution)
Promotion Before a product is developed, a firm needs to come up with a marketing strategy. This
involves selecting the target market and product positioning. Usually, there has to be a balance
between product quality and price. This way, price plays an important role in the marketing mix.
Pricing will always be determined by these tradeoffs

Essay on Confirmation in the Catholic Church
Confirmation in the Catholic Church Confirmation is a Catholic sacrament of mature Christian
commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. Like Baptism and Eucharist, it is a Sacrament of
Initiation for Catholics and a Sacrament of faith in God s fidelity to us
Confirmation is the moment when two things are confirmed. The candidate confirms his/her faith in
Christ and takes full responsibility for that faith and for membership of the community of faith,
which we call the church . God, through the Bishop, confirms God s claim on the candidate s life.
Whatever happens at confirmation, the moment for those who are confirmed is a ... Show more

Confirmation complements the symbols of Baptism. The historical origins of the symbols of
Confirmation are many and diverse. One source of the rituals for the Sacrament of Confirmation
can be found in the bathing customs of the Roman Empire. The water ritual (Baptism) came to
mean the washing away of sin, and the oil ritual (Confirmation) was interpreted to mean the
sweet fragrance of God s presence: sanctifying grace. In the same way God s grace fills us with
redemption and salvation. This grace, this presence of God in us, is the Holy Spirit. Confirmation
is the Sacrament of the Holy Spirit. Anointing can mean many things. From ancient times, oil has
been a symbol of strength, healing and agility. For Jews, our ancestors in the faith, oil is the sign
of God appointing someone to be a priest, prophet and king. Christians believe that Jesus of
Nazareth was this anointed one. As Christ means anointed, we call ourselves Christians because we
are the anointed ones, the Oiled People, so to speak. The Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and
Eucharist initiate us into that oiled community, the community anointed to continue the vocation of
the Messiah, the Christ.
At Baptism, the priest lays his hand on those to be baptised and marks them with the sign of the
cross. In the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the priest lays his hands on the head of the

Characteristics Of Learning Individuals With Learning...
Learning disabilities is a general term to describe a group of learning problems. Students with LD
are highly represented in general education classes. LD is the largest single disability area. The
cause of learning disabilities remains unknown but are believed to have been associated with some
kind of brain function. Organic, genetic, and environmental are three major factors that have been
hypothesized as possible causes. Organic factors include indications of brain differences in size or
functioning. Genetic factors include heredity, where a student with a reading/writing problem
shares the same problem with another close family member. Environmental factor includes poor
diet and nutrition as well as exposure to toxins such as alcohol smoke and drug use mostly before
birth. Individuals with learning disabilities possess a variety of characteristics that distinguish them
from other students. However, not all individuals with learning disabilities have all the
characteristics described in this section. Characteristics of Learning disabilities can be found in 1).

How Does Emily Bronte s Use Of Food
In the novel Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte includes the consumption of food, and in certain
situations the lack of its consumption to develop the storyline so further progressions are able to
occur. Bronte also includes these scenes involving food to provide strong symbolic and thematic
qualities to the novel. In the novel, meals are not there to serve the purpose of providing
background information to other parts of the narrative, rather they are included so that the
characters have the opportunity to reveal a new piece of information or to allow the reader to have
deeper insight into how the character is currently feeling in the moment, and where their passion is
leading to. These characteristics are evident when Heathcliffdecides to starve... Show more content

Boxing History
Boxing is one of the oldest known sports, from 2,000 year old depictions on the walls of tombs in
Egypt, to stone carvings indicating that Sumerians, who lived in what is now Iraq, boxed over
5,000 years ago. However, this is not the boxing that we know today, it was once a more exhausting
and brutal sport. In ancient Greece, two men would sit face to face with their fists wrapped in strips
of leather. They would hit each other until one of them fell to the ground unconscious or dead.
Roman fighters wore cestuses, leather straps plated with metal, which promoted shortened bouts.
The sport was eventually prohibited due to the inhumane violence. Boxingwould not reappear until
the late 1600s in England. Then, in the 1700s modern boxing was introduced,... Show more content

One of the most famous incidents dealt with Muhammad Ali in 1967. During this time, he was
the undefeated heavyweight champion of the world and highly acclaimed. Ali was arguably in
his prime when was called to join the Vietnam draft. He did not believe in the Vietnam War, due
to his beliefs in his newfound Muslim faith, and refused to join the draft. He was stripped of his
heavyweight title and on April 28, 1967, he protested by refusing to step forward when his name
was called, resulting in his arrest. The New York State Athletic Commission, the most
influential boxing commission at the time, decided to revoke Ali s boxing license before he was
even convicted. For three years, he wasn t allowed to box, Ali had to speak at various colleges
to make enough money to put food on the table and pay his bills. Ali was reinstated in 1970, but
three of his best years as a professional were gone. Ali was close to 30, leaving the world to only
wonder what those three years could have produced. The other infamous boxing incident was the
Mike Tyson vs. Evan Holyfield fight in 1997. Both fighters had history with each other and the
excitement behind the fight was high. Holyfield beat Tyson the year before saying that, Tyson was
no longer the baddest man on the planet. However, during the second round of Tyson Holyfield,
Tyson received a cut from a Holyfield headbutt. The

The Beatles Influence On The Art World
The Beatles were arguably one of the most influential bands that ever existed. The British Invasion
would export a new brand of music in the form of the Beatles. The fab four from Liverpool would
effectively rip through America with their innovative, electric and revolutionary sound, capturing
the hearts of every hysteric young girl along the way. While the Beatlesand their performance of
their hit song All My Loving on the Ed Sullivan show in New York sent every girl into an intense
frenzy, they also effected the creative minds of todays culture. There was a sense of creative
freedom amongst artists who could treat pop music as an art form rather than conform to what
everyone else did previously. Beatlemainia shaped a path of creative freedom for many bands in an

This essay will discuss how the Beatles were the first pop musicians to challenge the clear
distinction between high and low cultural spaces, to treat pop music as an art world .
The Beatles were a remarkable band; a band that had a positive contribution on society during a
time when rock n roll was judged to be dangerous and even outdated. The Beatles background had
a significant role to play in how the band was influential in later years. In 1956, John Lennon, a local
juvenile delinquent at the time, formed a local skiffle band with several school friends called The
Quarrymen , suitably named after the school they attended, The Quarry Bank High School. The
band played at various parties and skiffle contests before Paul McCartney joined the band in 1957

band under the recommendation of McCartney. However, at the beginning Lennon was reluctant to

Robert Cialdini And His Colleagues Essay
Robert Cialdini and his colleagues (1976) introduced and formalized the social psychological
phenomenon called basking in reflected glory (BIRG), recognizing how individuals tend to increase
their identification with a person or group with whom they share a preexisting ingroup identity
when the latter has succeeded in an endeavor that brings group pride. Social identitytheory is
typically invoked to explain how the phenomenon is manifested through ingroup affiliation and self
enhancement. Though BIRG as a phenomenon has been found to be replicable across cultures, its
determinants and manifestations nonetheless vary cross culturally. Through the current literature
review that aims to integrate the results of previous studies, it is found that the noninstrumental
nature of ingroup identification and the increase in association with a successful other are cross
culturally similar. However, the construal of social identity and the achievements that become a
source of ingroup pride are significantly determined by a country s historical and economic milieu,
while the characteristics of self enhancement (on both ascribed group and self esteem) are informed
by the values and expectations set forth by the culture to which basking individuals belong.

Statement Of MS Industrial Engineering
It is after carefully considering strong academic credentials in Mechanical engineering from
GITAM University and my firm background in industrial research that I have decided to apply for
the MS Industrial engineering Program. Industrial engineering is what makes it one of the most
challenging fields as it not only meets needs, but has the power to create new needs, rules and total
environments of its own. Also, I believe over time, I cultivated right attitude and maturity towards
industrial research. So far already, I have done some amount of theoretical and applied research in
the aforementioned area. I believe that MS course in the USA will develop my industry knowledge
and ready to meet the emerging challenges and contribute towards the industrial engineeringand to
create a more equitable and more innovative world.

The Jade Peony--Sek-Lung Is a Marginal Character Essay
Sek Lung is a Marginal Character
A strong, intelligent, independent boy is what every traditional Chinese family wants.
Unfortunately, Sek Lung is not such an ideal child. In the novel, The Jade Peony, Sek Lung is a
marginal character. He is rejected by the dominant group, first being made to feel insignificant
and second to feel uncomfortably visible. Sek Lung is born in Canada, with a sick body, being
considered inferior and unimportant. To begin with, he gains a reputation because of his
brainlessness. Referring to his own feeling, everyone knew [...] I was brainless (Choy 145). For
example, I would say Third Uncle instead of Great Uncle (Choy 145). That is because he is stuck

cultural background, he worries about getting into trouble. Second, Sek Lung, spending all his
childhood with Poh Poh, is the only person who sees her ghost. For example, after Poh Poh dies,
every time the windows mysteriously close or make noises, Sek Lung insists, It s Grandmama
(Choy 181), [...] and everyone [glares] at [him] (Choy 181). Poh Poh is his closest family member,
and he cannot get over her death. He believes that Poh Poh s soul will come back and protect
him. However, in his family s eyes, he is acting strange, and no one believes him. Besides, his
family thinks he will shame their name. For example, sister Liang refuses to take him out
because people will see or hear him. Similarly, Chinatown people turned away, muttering behind
my back (Choy 178). He is not only noticeable in his family, but also well known all over
Chinatown. People think he may be crazy or he really sees a ghost, which shows that he is
unlucky, and either point of view will make him be rejected by society, because no one likes
abnormal persons at that period. To conclude, Sek Lung becomes marginal by being treated as
insignificant and distinctive.

Analysis Of The Absurd
The Absurd
It is safe to say the idea of absurdism can be linked to meaningless, and other such words that
express a destination without the means to there and vice versa. In Camus famous fictional novel,
he shows how one s perception of life can be effected when faced with death. The Stranger reflects
Camus philosophical stance on absurdism. There is no truth, no certainty, or any unwavering, non
relative laws in life. There is no sense in pursuing impossibilities. But if life is in a sense pointless,
why continue living?
It seems as if Meursault does not want himself to be happy. This can be assumed from reading
the text. More specifically from chapter six of the Stranger on pages forty seven through fifty
nine. He could have had new job which would have paid substantially more in Paris, a loving
girlfriend whom wanted to marry him despite his flaws, and seemingly reliable and trustworthy
friends. Meursault had so many doors open for him filled with opportunities but he throws all his
chances of happiness away once he murders the Arab man on the beach.
Existence can be categorized as standing out or doing something that sets you aside from others
and the environment. Meursault s only desire was to be free from hope because hope meant that
there was a disconnection between who he should ve been and who he actually was. His only
wish was to almost blend into his environment or in other words become invisible to society so he
didn t have to be who the rest of the world

Diana Wynne Jones Biography
On August 16, 1934, Diana Wynne Jones was born to Marjorie and Richard Jones, who were both
teachers. Three years later, her younger sister Isobel was born. She also had another younger sister
name Ursula, though I was unable to find any information regarding her birthday. A few months
after she turned five, WWII broke out, and her family moved to Wales. In the years between their
evacuation to Wales, and their family s final settlement in Thaxted, Essex, in 1943, they moved
from Wales to Coniston Water, then to York, and then back to London.
As a child, Diana wished to become a writer, although her parents thought it a useless job for her,
as she was dyslexic. Despite the lack of the encouragement from her parents, she wrote two small
stories in journals during her teenage years. As a girl, she attended Friends School Saffron Walden,
an independent, co ed, Quaker school that teaches students from age three to eighteen. I find this
slightly amusing as Diana decided as a child that she was an atheist. After concluding her schooling
there, she attended Saint Anne s College in Oxford. During her time there, she was able to attend

A Brief Note On Forensic Psychology And The Criminal...
Newton s Third Law states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. For every
crime, there is an equal punishment. The criminal justice system can be broken down into various
different parts, all of which composed of people doing different jobs. While many people only
know of common roles, there are many smaller jobs that are no less important. One critical job
linked to the criminal justicesystem is that of a forensic psychologist. Forensic psychologyrequires a
background in psychology, but works primarily in the court system. Most of the time, a forensic
psychologist applies their expertise in psychology to a case, whether it is by assessing a defendant
s mental competency or determining how a pre existing condition influenced a crime. Forensic
psychology requires certain steps to be taken. It is essential that one is properly informed and
able to meet all of the qualifications, as well as fully understanding the responsibilities a
forensic psychologist has. Becoming a forensic psychologist requires years of higher education
and a unique set of skills, but offers a wide variety of fascinating work environments and duties.
Education is the difference between achieving success as a forensic psychologist and being
forced to find another career. Overall, a person planning to work as a forensic psychologist should

While the cause of indigenous over representation in prison remains a complex and contentious
issue, it will not be the focus of this essay. Instead, this essay will assess programs and policies
which have been proposed as measures to limit or reduce Indigenous incarceration rates. In general,
programs and policies either aim to divert offenders from being imprisoned (diversion), reduce
recidivism/ repeat offending (rehabilitation) or prevent indigenous people from committing crime at
all (early intervention). This essay will discuss programs for indigenous adults but will direct
significantly more attention to juvenile offenders. It will be reasoned that programs, which target
the underlying causes of indigenous crime, have the greatest potential to reduce indigenous
offending and re offending.
Restorative justice incorporates a number of programs which serve to primarily address the needs
of the victims, the offenders (who must admit to their offence) and the needs of the wider
community, rather than to simply enforce punishment or satisfy abstract legal principles (Daly
Nancarrow, 2010). Diversion schemes, a branch of restorative justice, include courses of action
which prevent juvenile offenders from entering or continuing in the criminal justice system.
Diversion can occur at most points

Differences in the Development of New England and the Chesapeake Region
Question: Although New England and the Chesapeake region were both settled largely by people
of English origin, by 1700 the regions had evolved into two distinct societies. Why did this
difference in development occur?
By the 1700s the two regions, New England and Chesapeake varied greatly in spite of being from
the same mother country, England. Physical and cultural differences separated these two regions
distinctively. While religion moulded the daily life in New England, Money and tobacco farming
dominated the Chesapeake.

Religious uniformity was very important as they were intolerant of any other religion, and only
church members were part of the government at first. Citizens were required to attend Church

farmers in England. In New England however, the rocky soil made it hard for a lot of farming, so
the Puritans turned to the coast. They built up major industries such as shipbuilding and fishing,
and established trade routes with England, and the Caribbean. The New Englanders were a very
pious and hardworking people, very different from their southern neighbours.
The Chesapeake region was the first region to be colonized. The first settlers had a very hard time

in England. Most of the early settlers were gentlemen sent by companies such as the Virginia and

Challenges And Advantages And Disadvantages Of Matrix...
There are many types of structures that an organization might have, each of them comes with its
own set of advantages and disadvantages. Let us look at the benefits and drawbacks of three (or
rather, five) of the more modern structures. Matrix organizations One of the biggest challenges
for employees in a matrix organization is the fact that they have to report to multiple managers.
With employees directly reporting to two or more supervisors, these supervisors need to be
highly coordinated with one another to make sure that they re giving consistent orders.
Otherwise, employees may be given orders from different managers that are very difficult to
follow in unison. Even worse, orders from different managers can outright conflict. Employees
can t follow these orders because they re mutually exclusive. This causes ambiguity and confusion
as to what the employee should do. This problem can be avoided with high levels of
communication and coordination between department managers and project managers though. If
these managers can stay on the same page, they can have a much clearer picture of where to lead

Limited Liability Company
The parties of an LLC have particular rights like voting decisions which impact the Limited
Liability Company. The members of an LLC openly manage the firm and are likely to receive
revenue allocations, tax remunerations as well as losses which are different from their membership
interest. Members also have duties of trust which are sometimes called fiduciary duties. Several
Limited LiabilityCompanies are managed by its owners, and some are operated by managers.
Members have a duty of loyalty to the entity (Fitzpatrick, 2018). Under the duty of loyalty,
members have the responsibility of putting the achievement and benefits of the company above
their advantages. Members ought to act honestly when dealing with the company and avoid any
conflicting interests between the company goals and personal goals. A member is supposed not
to take secret advantage of the business opportunities or hoard secret profits from the commercial
activities of the company (Fitzpatrick, 2018). Members also have a duty of care, and they are
required to act in a decent manner as well as exercise reasonable care in performing their duties.

Why is Iran Arming: An Examination of a Nuclear Iran through International Relations Theory
A nuclear Iran may be inevitable within the next decade. There is ample evidence suggesting that
Iran has the intention and capability of obtaining nuclear weapons. According to Fox News, a new
document issued by the Department of Defense on the Iran nuclear threat states: Iran could
probably develop and test an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of reaching the
United States by 2015. Clark Abt, professor at Harvard University, estimates that a single nuclear
attack on a major US harbor, such as New York City or Washington DC, could cause a loss of one
million civilians and could create three trillion dollars of economic losses. In order to identify the
necessary steps to avert Iran from procuring nuclear weapons and thus preventing possible nuclear
attacks, it is crucial to understand why Iran seeks to arm in the first place. It is profusely clear that
International relations theories provide an insight into why Iran aspires to develop a nuclear
program. However, upon further examination, only the realist and identity, not the liberal, theories
in international relations can further our knowledge of this issue. Amongst the numerous reasons
for Iran s desire to have nuclear weapons is the innate insecurity and fear of possible attacks by the
neighboring countries and their allies. An illustration

Millian Principles, Freedom of Expression, and Hate Speech
Speech that attacks a person or group of people on the basis of race, gender, or sexual orientation
is regarded as hateful. It has the potential to incite violence or prejudicial action against or by a
protected group of people. In Millian Principles, Freedom of Expression, and Hate Speech, Mill
makes the claim that essentially all speech, including hate speech, should be allowed. This claim
holds its validity as long as no harm is done to an individual. Here, I will show that low value
speech fails to engage deliberative views that underlie central first amendment fundamental
liberties. Subsequently, I will support these claims by comparing the aspects of hate speech to low
value speech. Lastly, I advocate for the prohibition against the use of hate speech in a university
setting.
In Brink s discussion of, Millian Principles, Freedom of Expression, and Hate Speech, he
distinguishes between low value and high value speech. The former is speech that plays no
essential role in the exposition of ideas and is of such slight social value as a step to the truth that
any benefit is outweighed by the social interest in order and morality. Examples of low value speech
include threats, fighting words, incitement of illegal activity, libel, and obscenity. In contrast, high
value speech is speech that contributes to public discourse. Moreover, it possesses content based
restrictions that are subject to strict scrutiny, laws that are necessary to meet a state interest.

Persuasive Essay On Boxer Briefs
Boxer briefs are also called tight boxers. They are longer in the leg like boxer shorts and tight
fitting like briefs. This male undergarment is mostly worn in United States, United Kingdom,
Australia and Canada. Boxer briefs are a blend of both shorts and briefs. Men are more comfortable
than boxers because briefs don t ride up like traditional boxers. This type of underwear is available
in various colors and patterns.
You can find assortments of boxer briefs from Spiderman prints to more conservative, clean
looking white ones. You can derive from the name that it is fusion of boxer types and brief type
underwear. Boxer briefs resemble cycling shorts which are worn by athletes or professional
players. Most men wear this undergarment because it can cover more area, from the waist down up
to thighs, and feature the snug fit characteristic of briefs. This type of underwear is mostly worn by
martial artists and wrestlers.
Men s boxer briefs are available in knitted versions which can be worn during the night. In the past
this type of boxer was worn for comfort and durability but now it has been shifted to sexiness. Many
religious institutions such as Mormoms wear this type of undergarment because they think that

Tale Of Two Cities Authority
But, the time was not come yet; and every wind that blew over France shook the rags of the
scarecrows in vain, for the birds, fine of song and feather, took no warning. (Dickens 23).
In this quote from A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, rebellion lurks around the corner for
France in the 1700s, as the French peasants suffer oppression from their wealthy fellow citizens.
Not only in this time in France, but everywhere since the Garden of Eden, have people rebelled
against authority for all sorts of reasons. Animal Farm, written by George Orwell, is another
story, a fairy tale, which clearly gives an example of such a rebellion, the tragic Russian
Revolutions of the 1900s. However, since these books are fiction, the question arises whether they
should be respected as valid testimony about rebellions against governments in general. By
examining each book with its respective historical rebellion, it will be proven that yes, there is
truth in fiction, and therefore that these two novels should be perceived as valid testimony about
rebellions against governments. However, as will be discussed below, fiction should not be held as
a greater authority than the cold, hard facts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first reason for this is the accuracy of dates. Dickens includes dates in various scenes in his
novel: 1775, 1780, 1789, and 1792. The events that occur during in the novel around these dates
match up to the actual events and dates of the French Revolution. In Dickens novel, the oppression
before the French Revolution is clearly seen in 1775 and before. Peasants had no food and people
died of starvation and mistreatment while aristocrats lived in luxury and abused the common folk.

Should College Students Drop Out Of College
When I was five years old, the fifty cents that my mother would give me to purchase a handful of
sugary goodness from the gumball machines seemed like winning the jackpot. As I grew and
became fascinated with toys at age eight, ten dollars could purchase me a small toy from the toy
store. In my teen years 30 dollars were put into my pocket and just as fast taken out on weekend
trips. As I approach college, the value of a hundred dollars in the face of college tuition, seems as
meager as the gumballs I chewed as a child. Our dependency on moneyhas substantially increased
the value and importance of keeping track of when, where, and how every penny is spent.

This is where many students also lose the battle of monetary stability, by lacking knowledge.
Becoming informed of any specific rules will help me avoid redirecting my money into different

these increasing debts that turn from aid to harmful. Secondly students must become informed of
any deadlines or rules to scholarship. Most scholarships require students to maintain a certain GPA,
that if not meet could result in termination of the fund. Other dictate certain time limits for the

A detailed plan created through knowledge will allow any student to control any scholarships,

Analysis Of Devin Copeland V. Justin Bieber
Somebody to Love : Devin Copeland v. Justin Bieber
As an artist, the protection of all intellectual property created for distribution should be a priority.
The type of protection this case focuses on is the protection granted by copyright. When a piece
of work is copyrighted, the copyright grants the creator the exclusive right to use and distribute
the piece for the duration of their life plus 70 years. As a creator, copyrighting completed art
before disclosing the art with any other interests is very beneficial when proving ownership in a
federal court proceeding. Devin Copeland v. Justin Bieber is a case that is based around the
copyrights to a song entitled Somebody to Love . The facts will be introduced, followed by the
issues that arose in court, then the courts analysis of those issues, closing with the lessons learned
to be applied to the future of Planet Florida Artist Managements business ventures.
Devin Copeland was an aspiring artist who had a dream of getting a record deal. In 2008,
Copeland finished work on an album, which he registered for copyright later the same year. The
next year, Copeland says he met with representatives from Sangreel Media and they were
interested in promoting some of the songs from the album which included Somebody to Love
(Mackinley, 2015). Sangreel Media then sent a promotional copy of the CD to several artists in
their network, including Usher Raymond. Usher s manager contacted Copeland about going on tour
with Usher. The

Black People Interview Report
Me: Hello, Mrs.Baker Smith, umm I m here to interview you about being some of the first black
people to live on a street called Albanus street, in the Olney neighborhood. Is that okay?
Mom: Yup
Me: Alright, first question is, how did you feel being one of the only blacks on your street?
Mom: Well, initially when I moved on the block I was only 6 years old... maybe 7. I didn t really
feel any type of way because as a child, or human being, some things are learned and experienced. I
had never really been around a lot of white people, so it wasn t really taught to me that white people
didn t necessarily like black people. Simply because they were black. I mean I knew a little bit

Gaza Strip Controversy
It was ten years ago that Gaza Strip residents were forced out of their homes. From picturesque
Gush Katif, from Israeli settlements in the Gaza Strip and from four small settlements in the
northern West Bank. The ticket? Peace and renewed international support for Israel.
The action was emotional and controversial. The residents claimed that they provided an important
defense buffer against attacks by Palestinians. The Jews living in Gaza did not steal Palestinian
land. The settlers of Gush Katif took sand dunes that were never inhabited by the Arabs and with
the sweat of their brow turned them into a paradise and a financial powerhouse.
Still, the government of Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, argued that remaining in Gaza was too costly

Before exiting through the gates of Kusufim Crossing, the head of Israel s mission in Gaza,
Brigadier General Aviv Kochavi said, The responsibility for whatever takes place inside falls

declaration nullifying the 6 June 1967 decree, which had established Israeli military rule in Gaza.
And so it was that Israel publicly displayed to the world that its most recent 38 year presence in
Gaza had come to an end.
The U.S. President at the time, George W Bush, complimented the plan as a positive step towards
the road map for peace. At a joint press conference with Ariel Sharon on April 11, 2005 he told the
media, I strongly support [Prime Minister Sharon s] courageous initiative to disengage from Gaza

disengagement plan with the Palestinians. I urge the Palestinian leadership to accept his offer. By

Elite Athletes and Performance Enhancing Drugs
Elite Athletes: An Asset or Liability to Sports? Many elite athletes are under great pressure to
perform exceptionally well they often times resort to using performance enhancing drugs to stay
competitive. The path to success as an athlete is not an easy track; it is fierce! The fame and the
fortune one can attain from being an athlete is only unimaginable to some; it is something worth
going the extra mile to reach, for some, there is no limit to the extra mile. After all, in today s
society the public demand for spectator sports entertainment more touch downs, more world
records, and more grand slams are in higher demand than ever. It is no surprise that winning at any
cost is all that matters. Sports have become convoluted with performance enhancing drugs among
athletes. As a result, the uses of performance enhancing drugs have spurred some of the most
controversial arguments between opponents for performance enhancing drugs and advocates
against performance enhancing drugs. Regardless of the arguments that surround the issue of
performance enhancing drugs, the pressure on elite athletes to perform exceptional in sports will
continue to spur them to cheat to stay on top. The Epidemic of Performance enhancing drugs Jost
(2004) in his article Performance Enhancing Drugs: An Overview carefully structured his argument
to show that performance enhancing drugs are crucial aspects of elite athletic competition. He
reasoned that a significant but unknown number of Olympic

Literary Quotations from The Green Mile
Q1: The wide corridor up the center of E Block was floored with linoleum the color of tired old
limes, and so what was called the Last Mile at other prisons was called the Green Mile at Cold
Mountain (King 6).
This quote shows its significance in defining the setting of The Green Mile. The setting of The
Green Mile is a prison called Cold Mountain but more specifically it is located on death row.
Furthermore, the time frame that the novel takes place is The Great Depression. This is perfect for
the theme of confinement and solitude in The Green Mile because the prison keeps the inmates
confined inside the jail. This relates to the Shakespeare play Hamlet because Hamlet feels trapped

In The Green Mile the central theme is the supernatural because it is expressed through the main
character John Coffey. The first instance of the supernatural is when John Coffey heals Paul
Edgecombe s urinary infection. Hence, John Coffey has supernatural powers to in his ways of
healing the sick and dying. These supernatural powers are the driving factor in the plot of the
story as well. It helps drive the idea that John Coffey is innocent and he was falsely accused for
the crimes. Lastly, the theme of the supernatural furthers the plot of the novel because the
supernatural helps the understanding of John s innocence. Which is essential to the plot because
the entire story revolves around the divinity of John Coffey. This relates to Hamlet because King
Hamlet was killed in the beginning of the story and was resurrected as a ghost. Also, King Hamlet
advances the plot by convincing Hamlet to kill Claudius. Hence, King Hamlet is a perfect example
of the supernatural and how it is used to further the plot because of his ghostly presence and his
will for revenge. Therefore, the structure of the plot is perfect in conveying the theme of the
supernatural in The Green

  • 2. The Motivation For Why People Go At University The first key point that Levy discusses is the motivation for why people go to university. Levy identifies three main reasons for students to attend university. The first reason is vocational. What this means is that students go to university because they have recognised that gaining a higher education and furthering their studies will provide them with a wider range of career opportunities. The second reason is scholastic. This means that students go to universityfor personal enrichment and for a love of learning, as they believe that a personal interest is essential to remaining at university studies. They are not solely driven by the desire to gain more money. The third reason is social. This means that students go to university for the social life. Levy discusses that the reason for why these students have this motivation is due to them living close to the campus or still living with their parents at home. He later discusses that they were unlikely to progress beyond the first year of university a number of them realised that university is not about partying, it is all about working hard. Levy discusses that students later revealed numerous motivations for attending to university, not just the common categories of vocational aspirations, scholastic or social opportunities. These motivations were quite separate from the other factors. Some students felt compelled into attending university not only by their parents but also their schools. Parents played a significant ... • 3. The Blind Side Character Analysis John Lee Hancock s film The Blind Side describes the struggles of an African American becoming part of a white society. Micheal Or, the main character, shows us the audience how black lower class Americans are mistreated and racism from white individuals. Micheal growing up without a father and with a single mother can also show how generous and sweet he truly is. The so called gentle giant being a staggering six foot four inches and three hundred fifteen pounds was everything a college football player should be but with outside help he could put this size to use. Trying to find each meal and a home to stay in every night is when the Tuohy family takes him in and can see him for who he is and not how he is perceived in the community. From there Hancock s movie shows us how the different issues of a white society such as discrimination for race, and cultural differences can be a false door so to say. Based on character development, a change in society, and plot twist that will leave the viewer wondering what will happen next, The Blind Side is one of the best sports related movies about the struggle of racism. Character development is what gets the movie viewer wrapped around a person in the story. In this particular movie Michaelis an easy character to feel sorry for as well as fall in love with for being a large man with a soft heart. Being in a third person view while watching this movie viewers can see from the outside looking in that he feels neglected and does not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. When Art And Religion Collide Nelson Gonzalez ENG 125 Prof. Michael Amey When Art and Religion Collide: My Name is Asher Lev My Name is Asher Lev, by Chaim Potok, tells a story about a Hasid, young man driven by a great passion: drawing. The character Asher Lev is presented within a Hasidic, Jewish community. These Hasidic communities are very conservative in many aspects; they care deeply and influence their members in a lot of decisions they make in life. The Rebbes of the Jews is the man whose members of the community go to quite often for advice, as Asher s uncle Yitzchok said to Aryeh, People go to the Rebbe because they have a cold (30). The relevance of the Rebbe is shown in very early stages of the book when, for example, Asher s father explains to him how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Asher s personality is very intelligently described in the beginning of the book, when he argues with his dad that drawing is not foolishness (12). He also tends to talk back to his authorities, and often expresses his disagreements towards their ideas. This sort of behavior is very unusual for a boy his age, coming from Hasid traditions. Asher is very curious, constantly asking questions, to the point where it can be of irritation to his father. He sees the world differently, and he draws it as such. As a young boy, his mother asks Asher to draw the world prettier , but he refused. He claims that the world is not beautiful to him, and therefore he won t draw it as such. This almost rebel like behavior isn t generally accepted in Asher s community. He doesn t want to follow the standards that are set and that he s told he should follow, but he d rather express his art as he sees it to be the most representative. Asher has a profound connection with art, even in early stages of his childhood. It is his way of interacting with the world around him, his form of expression. Asher s way of seeing the world generally doesn t align with how his authorities want him to see it. At first, it is his mother who asks him to draw the world prettier , but he refuses, and later when he draws the pictures for the Mashpia. The drawings for the Mashpia are significant because they represent how much art really meant to Asher. Drawing those pictures made him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The long period of solitude influences Carl Jung s psychological theory. Nina Sayers in Black Swan dwelling in her lonely soul tries to dance perfectly in the chaotic world. Jung s analytic theory allows us to deeply analyze and understand Nina Sayers in Black Swan. Carl Gustav Jung was born in 1875 in Switzerland. • 7. Little Foxes Analytical Essay Every play written uses dramatic elements. The main dramatic elements are plot, character, theme, and language. Lillian Hellman, who wrote the Little Foxes, incorporates these elements beautifully in her play. The play is set during the spring of 1900 and takes place in the Deep South part of the United States of America. Just as every other play, the Little Foxeshas included the dramatic elements in her play, particularly the plot, character, and language that all incorporate an underlying theme of greed. The character, which includes the physiological and psychological makeup of each person in the play, properly incorporated the greed and oppression of the time. Ben and Oscar are brothers who are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were also two servants in the house, whose parts although small, added a real sense of the racial conflict of the time. These characters were perfectly created with their physiological and psychological attributes that added the extra tension for the time. Horace and Regina also had a daughter. Her name was Alexandra. Her character was also built really well, except that she was too passive and did not react as well as she should have while Regina mentally destroyed Horace. Lastly, there is the brief appearance of the character named Mr. Marshall. This character although very small was created extremely well. Just like Ben and Oscar, he had only one thing on his mind. Although his ulterior motive was greed, he hid that very well while he pretended to have a good time making friends with the family. Then when it came down to business, he was very keen and right to the point. Greed. Not only are the characters created exceptionally well, but the plot of the Little Foxes was also very beautifully planed out and written with the underlying theme of greed showing up throughout it. This is a major strength of the play. This play takes place in a little picturesque home in the South of the US with a prosperous but oppressive family during the spring of 1900. This is where the tension starts to build. The play starts out with a family gathering. The audience finds out at the end of this gathering that Ben s ambition is to erect a ... • 8. Djambalula Bark Tree Essay The painting is done by artist Djambalula (1908 1960), the Aborigene from Northern Australia. Unfortunately there is no information about him, except few photos of paintings that he produced, all of which are expected in traditional style. Djambalula follows the artistic convention of Australian Aborigines that was established thousand years ago. The paintingis done on the small tree bark, approximately 13 x 16 in. Bark tree is a traditional medium for Australian visual art, along with rock and cave painting. On the paintings we see 24 human like figures organized in three rows. The artist use white paint against dark brownish background of tree bark. All figures look alike except five females in the middle register, who can be identified by protruding breasts. Women hold some kind of rope or curved stick, men are playing musical instruments and holding boomerangs. There are two figures on the left side of the bottom register, that look like adult and child (based on the different size). These two are placed in some kind of rectangular enclosure, it seems they are standing on a foreground in front of the procession. They might be just observers of the ceremony, or about ... • 9. The Admission Fee At Disneyland Park Essay In 1955 the admission fee to only get into the Disneyland park was only $1.00 and rides were from 10c to 75c. They also had ticket books available where you could buy admission and 8 rides for $2.50. After three months A Day at Disneyland was introduced which included admission and 10 rides in one set price. All the rides were categorized from A to E with the A rides being cheaper and E rides were the more expensive and popular rides. There were different sized ticket books which varied in the amounts that each ticket could be used. There were never enough of the D and E tickets in the books so Disney set up Ticket Booths in each park (Fantasyland had two), where people could purchase additional rides they needed which priced from 10c to 90c each. All the rides had to keep getting re categorized over the years as new rides were being developed and the older rides became less popular. In 1980 Disney raised the admission price to $10.00 USD which included admission into the parks and 10 rides. When the Epcot park was opened the coupons would not work so on October 1, 1982 all of the parks created a pay one price per park. This meant people had to pay to get into each park separately. In 1982, Disney dropped the idea of individual ride tickets to a single admission price with unlimited access to all attractions. When Walt DisneyWorld opened in 1971, tickets to get in were only $3.50 USD. In 1994 park hopping was created where one person could hop between the parks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Internet Neutrality Who owns the internet? The common opinion is that the web is a free and equal source for all its users, belonging to no one and everyone at the same time, however the increasing monopolization of content producers and methods of access has become a major cause for concern. As a unified, single entity, the Internetdoes not belong to any single person or organization, but the quality and levels of access available are dependent on thousands of corporate groups and impact every internet user. While once seen as an equalizing field, discussions of web fast lanes, private platforms, and pay for play access have turned the once obviously neutral Internet into a highly contested structure. Net neutrality is a step forward towards ensuring a future... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The preferential leveraging of certain websites by telos and ISPs inherently implies reduced access to others, Panda explains, ...this could lead to blocking others, either fully or, with choked access... ISPs are the gateway through which all access must pass. Millions of web pages, platforms, app, services, with any and all types of information and resources available. There are small, niche sites (Reddit forums on Twilight Zone special features) to large, global content (the DOW summary) available at all hours of the day, and while the educational value of each of these would undoubtedly vary from person to person, access to both of these does not. Comparatively, in a world without net neutrality equalized education is constantly at risk depending on their whims of the ISP. Attempting to access event coverage on FOX news could be slowed or blocked completely if Comcast is your internet service provider. This not only leads to biased or even misinformation, but further monetizes the very nature of education. Paid prioritization, where those with the most financial resources can speed up access to their content, would hurt public and non profit content providers, such as libraries, that cannot afford a fast lane for research and archival collections (Long). Additionally, because content providers that pay more for fast lanes could pass extra charges on to consumers for access to organizations that have not paid for such lanes, leading libraries and schools to end up paying more for commercial content while still losing their consumer base. ISPs are businesses at their core and thus have financial incentives to favor their own content over others, but once customers pay for their internet access, they should have the rights to choose the content they access. When someone purchases a car, they determine the route and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, when no answers are delivered said man seeks answers in a place that seems most correct. The spiritual life relies on believers who have strong fundamental beliefs in hope. The unshaken foundation relies on believers who give their everlasting hope and have solace in this faith alone. The faith goes deeper than understanding, but full reliance on the church and its holy deities to solve the world s most mysterious questions, cure even the most powerful illness and still have faith when such actions do not occur. In Rudolfo Anaya s Bless Me, Ultima Antonio sought to find the answers he was so desperately in search for, however he never received an answer. Antonio s religious ambivalence is created through his journey of life from several encounters, life and death alike, and not receiving answers to the questions that he most desperately sought for. The aspect of Antonio s ideal benevolent God verses the God he was presented, and external sources, would all create different epiphanies that would lead him astray from the traditional church and into other spiritual realms. These realms would be an outlet for him to receive enlightenment to the situations of which he was presented. The Catholic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Charter Of Rights And Freedoms Charter of Rights and Freedoms The Canadian constitution is the foundation that forms and brings together our nation government and its legal system. You can also consider the constitution as a rulebook. It contains rules and regulations that political parties must follow in order to adopt, amend, or revoke a law. The constitution has three main sources. In 1867 the British North American Act passed, which was the first source of the constitution. A change was made to the BNA act and was patriated in 1982. It was then officially called the Constitution Act 1867. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms were included in the amendments that were added to the Constitution in 1982. The act was renamed Constitution Act 1982. The second source is the unwritten set of rules and conventions, which is crucial in Canadian law. These rules usually are developed and later on used by important politicians and government officials. The last source of the constitution is the court rulings and decisions. When there are disputes or conflicts to solve, the courts are called upon to resolve them. The charter of rights and freedoms is known as the most important piece of paperwork to any living Canadian. (Alexandraowicz 104). It is made up of 34 sections and 9 subsections. The most significant subtopics in the charter are our fundamental freedoms, legal and equality rights. • 17. Taking a Look at Heat Transplantation Introduction In everyday life, we regularly come across the terms such as heat, temperature, cool, etc. But what do those terms actually mean? So in this essay, we are going to learn the real meanings of those terms and how the heat is transferred from a place to place, and understand the real context of those terms in everyday life. Everyone has felt heat, but what is it? The simple answer is that heat is energy. In physics heat is identified as a source of energy and can be observed only when it is transferring from a one place to another. All matter in the universe, is made up of molecules and atoms. These atoms are always in different types of motion and this motion of atoms and molecules creates heat or thermal energy. All matter has this thermal energy. The more motion the atoms or molecules have the more heat or thermal energy they will have. Heat always tends to travel from a place to place whenever there is a suitable physical pathway exists between the source object and the destination object. In addition, it will always be travelling from a hotter object to cooler object. Heat travels in waves like other forms of energy, and can change the matter it touches. It can heat matter up by the molecules the move or it can cause chemical reactions like burning to occur. The path will be either direct or indirect depending on the mode of transfer of heat. Heat can travel from one place to another in three ways: Conduction Convection Radiation Both conduction and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Amnesia A.Evaluate evidence that non declarative long term memory is preserved in amnesia. Amnesic patients tend to suffer from permanent or temporal, normally partial or total loss of episodic memory and an impaired capacity to form and store new memories. On the other hand, they seem to demonstrate unimpaired performance of behaviours involving prior experiences on tests which do not require any intentional or conscious recollection of those experiences (Schacter, 1992). Hence, most amnesic patients demonstrate the ability to retain and learn new behaviours through priming and conditioning, and acquire new perceptual, cognitive, motor and emotional skills which cannot be traced back to an explicit memory but can be demonstrated implicitly. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The combined findings provide the foundation for the hypothesis that there is more than one kind of memory, or rather that skill based memories must be organised differently from fact based memories since the former seem to be preserved in amnesia as opposed to the latter. Further supportive evidence comes from priming studies; priming refers to the improved capacity for detecting or processing a novel or familiar stimuli based on recent experience (Tulving Schater, 1990). In a famous study by Heist et al. (1991) amnesic patients and control subjects studied words and non words. They were then given a perceptual identification test with briefly presented previously studied and unstudied items. Perceptual priming was measured as the increase in the probability of identifying the former versus the letter items. Amnesic patients exhibited entirely normal priming for both old words and non words. On the other hand, they showed significant impairment in recognizing items that had appeared on the administered test. Priming of non words did not appear to be based on the activation of words that were phonologically or orthographically similar to the non words. The non word results suggest that priming can involve the acquisition of new information, rather than simply the activation of pre existing representations. Researchers concluded that intact perceptual priming in amnesic patients reflects specific changes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One source of the rituals for the Sacrament of Confirmation can be found in the bathing customs of the Roman Empire. In the same way God s grace fills us with redemption and salvation. This grace, this presence of God in us, is the Holy Spirit. Confirmation is the Sacrament of the Holy Spirit. Anointing can mean many things. From ancient times, oil has been a symbol of strength, healing and agility. For Jews, our ancestors in the faith, oil is the sign of God appointing someone to be a priest, prophet and king. Christians believe that Jesus of Nazareth was this anointed one. As Christ means anointed, we call ourselves Christians because we are the anointed ones, the Oiled People, so to speak. The Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist initiate us into that oiled community, the community anointed to continue the vocation of the Messiah, the Christ. Robert Cialdini And His Colleagues Essay Robert Cialdini and his colleagues (1976) introduced and formalized the social psychological phenomenon called basking in reflected glory (BIRG), recognizing how individuals tend to increase their identification with a person or group with whom they share a preexisting ingroup identity when the latter has succeeded in an endeavor that brings group pride. Social identitytheory is typically invoked to explain how the phenomenon is manifested through ingroup affiliation and self enhancement. Though BIRG as a phenomenon has been found to be replicable across cultures, its determinants and manifestations nonetheless vary cross culturally. Through the current literature review that aims to integrate the results of previous studies, it is found that the noninstrumental nature of ingroup identification and the increase in association with a successful other are cross culturally similar. However, the construal of social identity and the achievements that become a source of ingroup pride are significantly determined by a country s historical and economic milieu, while the characteristics of self enhancement (on both ascribed group and self esteem) are informed by the values and expectations set forth by the culture to which basking individuals belong. While many people only know of common roles, there are many smaller jobs that are no less important. One critical job linked to the criminal justicesystem is that of a forensic psychologist. Forensic psychologyrequires a background in psychology, but works primarily in the court system. Most of the time, a forensic psychologist applies their expertise in psychology to a case, whether it is by assessing a defendant s mental competency or determining how a pre existing condition influenced a crime. In the same year, the incarceration rate for Indigenous Australian prisoners was 15 times higher than the rate for their non Indigenous counterparts, an increase in the ratio compared to 2011 (when it was 14 times higher) (ABS, 2013). While the cause of indigenous over representation in prison remains a complex and contentious issue, it will not be the focus of this essay. Instead, this essay will assess programs and policies which have been proposed as measures to limit or reduce Indigenous incarceration rates. In general, programs and policies either aim to divert offenders from being imprisoned (diversion), reduce recidivism/ repeat offending (rehabilitation) or prevent indigenous people from committing crime at all (early intervention). This essay will discuss programs for indigenous adults but will direct significantly more attention to juvenile offenders. It will be reasoned that programs, which target the underlying causes of indigenous crime, have the greatest potential to reduce indigenous offending and re offending. Restorative justice incorporates a number of programs which serve to primarily address the needs of the victims, the offenders (who must admit to their offence) and the needs of the wider community, rather than to simply enforce punishment or satisfy abstract legal principles (Daly Nancarrow, 2010). Diversion schemes, a branch of restorative justice, include courses of action which prevent juvenile offenders from entering or continuing in the criminal justice system. Differences in the Development of New England and the Chesapeake Region Question: Although New England and the Chesapeake region were both settled largely by people of English origin, by 1700 the regions had evolved into two distinct societies. Why did this difference in development occur? By the 1700s the two regions, New England and Chesapeake varied greatly in spite of being from the same mother country, England. Physical and cultural differences separated these two regions distinctively. While religion moulded the daily life in New England, Money and tobacco farming dominated the Chesapeake. In New England however, the rocky soil made it hard for a lot of farming, so the Puritans turned to the coast. They built up major industries such as shipbuilding and fishing, and established trade routes with England, and the Caribbean. The New Englanders were a very pious and hardworking people, very different from their southern neighbours. The Chesapeake region was the first region to be colonized. The first settlers had a very hard time adapting to the moist swampy climate and lack of commerce and civility that they were used to in England. Most of the early settlers were gentlemen sent by companies such as the Virginia and London Companies. They were determined to find wealth in the North American wilderness, and suffered greatly due to famine and diseases like malaria. Most of these unlucky settlers were men, which was a drawback for the new colony of Virginia because there was very little reproduction. • 40. Challenges And Advantages And Disadvantages Of Matrix... There are many types of structures that an organization might have, each of them comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Let us look at the benefits and drawbacks of three (or rather, five) of the more modern structures. Matrix organizations One of the biggest challenges for employees in a matrix organization is the fact that they have to report to multiple managers. With employees directly reporting to two or more supervisors, these supervisors need to be highly coordinated with one another to make sure that they re giving consistent orders. Otherwise, employees may be given orders from different managers that are very difficult to follow in unison. Even worse, orders from different managers can outright conflict. Employees can t follow these orders because they re mutually exclusive. This causes ambiguity and confusion as to what the employee should do. This problem can be avoided with high levels of communication and coordination between department managers and project managers though. If these managers can stay on the same page, they can have a much clearer picture of where to lead employees and they can put up a unified front. In that way, instructions from either manager that a given employee reports to can give orders consistent with the orders given by the other manager, and the employee will be able to follow the lead of both managers simultaneously. There are clearly challenges in leading a matrix organization, as well as challenges in working ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ziad Jawadi International Relations: Gabe Scheinmann 4/12/11 Why is Iran Arming: An Examination of a Nuclear Iran through International Relations Theory A nuclear Iran may be inevitable within the next decade. There is ample evidence suggesting that Iran has the intention and capability of obtaining nuclear weapons. According to Fox News, a new document issued by the Department of Defense on the Iran nuclear threat states: Iran could probably develop and test an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of reaching the United States by 2015. Clark Abt, professor at Harvard University, estimates that a single nuclear attack on a major US harbor, such as New York City or Washington DC, could cause a loss of one million civilians and could create three trillion dollars of economic losses. In order to identify the necessary steps to avert Iran from procuring nuclear weapons and thus preventing possible nuclear attacks, it is crucial to understand why Iran seeks to arm in the first place. It is profusely clear that International relations theories provide an insight into why Iran aspires to develop a nuclear program. However, upon further examination, only the realist and identity, not the liberal, theories in international relations can further our knowledge of this issue. Amongst the numerous reasons for Iran s desire to have nuclear weapons is the innate insecurity and fear of possible attacks by the neighboring countries and their allies. An illustration ... It has the potential to incite violence or prejudicial action against or by a protected group of people. In Millian Principles, Freedom of Expression, and Hate Speech, Mill makes the claim that essentially all speech, including hate speech, should be allowed. This claim holds its validity as long as no harm is done to an individual. Here, I will show that low value speech fails to engage deliberative views that underlie central first amendment fundamental liberties. Subsequently, I will support these claims by comparing the aspects of hate speech to low value speech. Lastly, I advocate for the prohibition against the use of hate speech in a university setting. In Brink s discussion of, Millian Principles, Freedom of Expression, and Hate Speech, he distinguishes between low value and high value speech. The former is speech that plays no essential role in the exposition of ideas and is of such slight social value as a step to the truth that any benefit is outweighed by the social interest in order and morality. Examples of low value speech include threats, fighting words, incitement of illegal activity, libel, and obscenity. In contrast, high value speech is speech that contributes to public discourse. Moreover, it possesses content based restrictions that are subject to strict scrutiny, laws that are necessary to meet a state interest. Throughout the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tale Of Two Cities Authority But, the time was not come yet; and every wind that blew over France shook the rags of the scarecrows in vain, for the birds, fine of song and feather, took no warning. (Dickens 23). In this quote from A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, rebellion lurks around the corner for France in the 1700s, as the French peasants suffer oppression from their wealthy fellow citizens. Not only in this time in France, but everywhere since the Garden of Eden, have people rebelled against authority for all sorts of reasons. Animal Farm, written by George Orwell, is another story, a fairy tale, which clearly gives an example of such a rebellion, the tragic Russian Revolutions of the 1900s. However, since these books are fiction, the question arises whether they should be respected as valid testimony about rebellions against governments in general. By examining each book with its respective historical rebellion, it will be proven that yes, there is truth in fiction, and therefore that these two novels should be perceived as valid testimony about rebellions against governments.
