The Longest-Personal Narrative
With my heart pounding I stepped forward. As the other competitors are doing everything to stay
loose and ready, I simply could not stop shaking. To my left and right stood two seniors, the
fastest half mile runner in the state and my biggest rival of that year. I felt very out of place,
only a sophomore that season. In Montana, the 800m race at the state meet had been dominated
by seniors for decades. The echoing silence filled the arena after the starter yelled, set!. If I were
to recall the longest is second in my life, undoubtedly it would be that moment. Many times I
have been asked to provide one word that describes myself. My peers would describe me as smart,
athletic, and personable. However, I do not believe that any of those words

I know, Primrose said
After they got done talking, Katniss helped Primrose look for something to wear to the big
meeting tomorrow. Next Katniss went in her room and saw a beautiful dress with black flats for
tomorrow and a note next to it, it said
Dear Katniss, This is my old dress I had when on a honey moon with you and prim father, and I
want you to wear it to the big meeting tomorrow. Also here s a phone if anything happen I will be
home tonight at nine they want me to stay an extra hour, and dinner is on the table. Love mom,
When Katniss walked toward the kitchen to get something to eat she heard something in Primrose

she went in there Prim was gone and she noticed the window was open, she panicked. She ran to go
get her jacket and the phone her mom left for her and ran out the door. While she was looking for
her she saw a boy named Peeta Mellark working on a house a couple houses down from hers. She
walked over there and asked him have he seen a girl with a black coat and he said,
Yes she ran over there by the woods over that gate, I will show you,
Okay thank you, said Katniss
Then they both ran towards the woods where Katniss practiced at. When Peeta and Katniss got to

The Importance Of Millennials In The Workplace
A large number of millennials are at the stage in life where they are entering the competitive
workforce. However, they are often labeled with characteristics such as lazy, self entitled, and
narcissistic. This, in many instances, leaves businessmen questioning the work ethic of this
younger generation. As employers need members of staff to further or better their businesses, they
face working with this generation touted as larger than the Baby Boomergeneration that is now
entering senior adulthood. Many may worry that the differences in attitudes are too vast; however,
employers should not be hesitant to accept millennials because they possess advanced
technological skills, are open minded, and are ready for challenges.
Millennials, who are also known as Generation Y, are categorized as an immensely large and
diverse group. Understanding Millennials in the Workplace by Shele Bannon, Kelly Ford, and
Linda Meltzer states that Numbering between 50 million and 80 million (depending upon the
definition), Millennials represent a sizable population cohort (61). With a large population, it is
recognized that their generation is coming into the workforce with a great impact. The authors
further state, They account for 10% to 15% of the U.S. labor force, and they are currently entering
the lower management ranks (Bannon et al. 61). To understand the hesitation when employing
millennials, one must observe the way in which society views this generation and take those

Causes Of Eyewitness Testimony
Intellectuals and experts alike share a common belief that the most significant cause of unjust
convictions is due to inaccurate eyewitness testimonies. Scepticism of the validity of eye witness
testimonies has increased dramatically; scientific credibility of forensic evidence has weakened its
reliability. Thus, resulting in this being the dominant root of false convictions (Coolican, 1996). In
2007, The Innocence Project stated that over 75% of unjust convictions contained eye witness
testimonies (Innocence Project, 2007). Further studies have also had comparable results, for
example Brandon Davies (1973). Is it feasible that an individual s memory is so imprecise that it is
unreliable in producing faultless memory recall? Furthermore, if memory is so undependable why
is it still frequently used in the criminal justice system today if the consequence is innocent people
being incarcerated?
Historically, eyewitness testimony has been frequently practised, and has played a consequential
role in the conviction of criminals. Monumental amounts of unsolved crimes lacking sufficient
evidence has meant that an eyewitness testimony could help secure a much needed verdict in an
otherwise unsolvable crime. However, in this contemporary society, experts claim that many factors
can be responsible for faulty eyewitness testimony. For example, post incident events, most
specifically suggestive police strategy (Brace and Byford, 2012). Milgram s (1963) study into
obedience highlighted

INTERNET PROTOCOL (IP)
The IP provides a connectionless delivery system that is unreliable and on a best effort basis. The
IP specifies the basic unit of data transfer in a TCP/IP internet as the datagram. Datagrams may be
delayed, lost, duplicated, delivered out of sequence, or intentionally fragmented, to permit a node
with limited buffer space to handle the IP datagram. It is the responsibility of the IP to
reassemble any fragmented datagrams. In some error situations, datagrams are silently discarded
while in other situations, error messages are sent to the originators (via the ICMP, a utility
protocol.) The IP specifications also define how to choose the initial path over which data will be
sent, and defines a set of rules governing the unreliable datagram service.
IPV6 Transition has been studied to find the best way of migrating internet network system from
using IPV4 to IPV6. Many mechanisms were purposed for transferring IPV4 packet on IPV6
network and IPV6 packet on IPV4 network. For example, IPV6 transition used End to End Tunnel
by employing the exchange control message between host and server then IPV6 data can be
transferred via IPV4 network .
In addition, the internet protocol IVI is another internet protocol translation method that let IPV4
and IPV6 on the difference architecture network can communicate

The Porsche Automotive Group Firm
The Porsche Automotive Group firm has been considered to be a benchmark of precision within
the market for decades. According to Henderson Reavis (2009), By 2007, Porsche had become the
world s most financially profitable automaker on an annual per unit basis. They then go on to
mention, This is especially impressive when considering that Porscheproduces over 100,000
vehicles annually. From Porsche s inception their focus has been place on the finer points of
engineering. Sense the 1930s this firm has been translating their expertise of engineering into the
esthetic design of their vehicles. The quality and performance that Porsche has become known for
has caused the public and private industries to consider their vehicles to... Show more content on

According to Henderson Reavis (2009), Per unit produced, Porsche records an average of
$91,974, and by 2007 their annual income capped at $9.4 billion on revenue of $10 billion. With
this growth it must be mentioned that the firm has experience some down points. For example, in
the mid 1990s due to poor production processes and a recession in the United, which seriously
affect sales nearly pushed Porsche Automotive Group into bankruptcy. In the end this led to a time
when the firm was vulnerable to takeover. Another such time would be in 2008 when the firm s
business integrity would come into question due to their actions surrounding the failed takeover of
their former sub division VW.
Porsche Automotive primarily specialized in luxury and sport models. The first vehicle
produced by a Porsche subsidiary was the pre runner to the VW Beetle, the VW Type 60. The
firm s leading models during the post World War 11 (WW2), era were the 550 Spyder, 904 6
GTS, and 911 Turbo in 1955, 1964, and 1975 respectively. In more current years following the
appointment of former Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Wendelin Wiedeking Porsche s forerunning
model is the 2004 Carrera GT (Porsche Holding GmbH., 2016).
In the automotive industry there is no shortage of competition. The major competitors of Porsche

Example Of Justifying A Value
1.)The first example of justifying a value is when getting my car detailed. I am looking at
market value, fair value and the utility factor for the services. This service satisfies the need and
desire for a clean car to take clients out with, after it was dirtied by a tough winter. I compared
prices for similar car detailing services, and asked around for referrals from several people. Of
the two companies, one was recommended strongly. I saw examples of each work and agreed with
the highly recommended company. In my opinion, the cost at the time was fair value and,
compared to other detailers, was market value. The prices were advertised for a year without any
price increase. The second example of justifying a value is when purchasing products from
Starbucks Coffee. There is a slight influence upon me through the desire of my teenage daughter
wanting to visit the coffee shop. With my effective purchasing power, and both our desire of a
drink/coffee/treat once and a while, we will go to Starbucks. It is true that Starbucks is a Going
Concern, and their prices are fair value compared to Timothies and Tim Hortons. I have joined
their rewards program, which enables me to occasionally receive free or discounted drinks, as well
as free refills. Starbucks, with the loyalty program, is an investment value to me.

Argumentative Essay On Homework
Late nights, eyes only kept open by ungodly amounts of coffee, and never ending piles of paper:
these are all symptoms of the nation sweeping homework epidemic. Students are assigned hours
upon hours of after school homework every day but is it really necessary? Oftentimes, homework
causes more harm than good on the mental, physical, and social health of students; therefore, after
school assignments should be limited to the four core classes, minimizing those loads as much as
possible, because more homeworkdoes not necessarily lead to highly successful students, immense
amounts of stress are put on students every day, and an eight hour school day should be enough to
disseminate the information needed. While some teachers believe that nightly homework is
imperative to student achievement, data shows that homework at any level, from grade school to
high school, does not equal success. Many East Asian countries, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and
Japan had lower average rates of homework, yet ranked very highly in math. While math homework
is usually intended to practice the material learned in class that day, excessive repetition of the same
equations will not make the information stick any more than a few practice problems. As stated by
Ty Conner, ...children... are learning this material in order to complete their homework, which is in
turn preparing them for a test, and after that test, the information... isn t reviewed afterwards .
Additionally, high homework rates are

The Transmission Of Universal And Timeless Issues Through...
An Eternal Prison
The Transmission of Universal and Timeless Issues through Experiences in the Soviet Gulag Camps.
Alexander Solzhenitsyn s novel One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich follows exactly as its
title suggests, a day in the life of Ivan Denisovich, a prisoner of the Soviet Gulag camps, and the
tribulations that he and his fellow prisoners encounter in their daily lives. Having personally
experienced the horrific conditions of the Gulag camp system, Alexander Solzhenitsyn wrote the
novel as a means to communicate these horrors to not only the Russian people, but also beyond the
boundaries of the Soviet Union, to the international community. Its stark realism and political
undercurrents shocked many at the time of its publishing, and caused a great amount of
controversy in the Soviet Union (Klimoff xiv). The style in which Solzhenitsyn presents his work
transcends the scope of the novel and its translation into something more sweeping. Although Ivan
Denisovich is rooted in the contextual background of a Soviet Gulag, it is able to relay universal
and timeless issues such as oppression, sense of identity, and the social hierarchy.
The issue of oppression appears throughout the novel as Ivan Denisovich is imprisoned as a
traitor as he had surrendered in order to betray his country and returned from POW camp to carry
out a mission for German intelligence (Solzhenitsyn 69 70), and is sent to the Gulag. The Gulag
camp system, were a series of labour camps created

Shopping At An Outlet Mall
1.One of the themes of this chapter is that shopping at an outlet mall is work, not leisure. What
is meant by this? 1. Chapter 4 suggests that shopping at an outlet mall is work, rather than
leisure, in several ways. First, Shell mentions that outlet malls are located well outside
population centers. This causes would be shoppers to drive sometimes an hour or more to shop
at an outlet mall. She mentions that visiting the outlets demands an investment in time,
deliberation, and energy beyond what we invest in most other leisure activities (Shell 91).
Furthermore, Shell also uses several images throughout the chapter that convey a sense of work
at an outlet mall; she conjures up images of all that time, all that gas (Shell 91), and most
customer look exhausted and not what you d call fashion forward (Shell 97). This suggests that
shopping in this form is a labor instead of a leisure activity. Apart from exercise, what activity
that induces exhaustion is considered a leisure activity? Leisure activities are supposed to be
enjoyable, and unlike exercising to exhaustion, shopping to exhaustion does little to improve one s
figure. However, the outlet mall experience has been marketed as cost saving even though its
foundation is sunk costs. 2.What is your favorite outlet mall and why do you like this mall? 2.
Shell actually mentions my favorite outlet mall by name. I grew up near the Vanity Fair Outlet in
Reading, PA. I still shop at the VF Outlet as it is known to

Historical Significance of Eleanor Rigby
Overview A song by Beatles, Eleanor Rigby was released simultaneously on the album Revolver
in the year 1966 as well as on a 45 rpm single. Primarily, the song was written by Paul McCartney
and was dedicated to Lennon McCartney (Miles, 1997). George Martin did a great job at
making a string quartet arrangement. The striking lyrics about loneliness along with the
arrangement transformed the kind of songs from what were mostly pop oriented to the kind that
were studio based. There is no second opinion about the fact that this song made a dent in the
conventions of the popular music; both in terms of lyrics and music (Campbell and Bondy,
2008). Pertaining to the fates and concerns of the elderly that are mostly neglected, Richie
Unterberger has said that this is one of the main reasons why Beatles have been able to catch the
attention of people who are beyond the traditional rock audience (Unterberger, 2013). Historical
Significance This song also has a historical connotation since there is a gravestone by the name
of Eleanor Rigby in St. Peter s Churchyard that is situated in Woolton, United Kingdom. It should
be noted that Woolton is a suburb of the city of Liverpool and this is where Lennon and
McCartney first met during a fete at St. Peter s Church. According to the gravestone that bears the
name of Eleanor, she died at the age of 44 in the year 1939. Nonetheless, Eleanor is not the kind
of lonely people that the Beatles have stressed upon in their song as she was

African Americans In Football
When/Why African Americans Played in the NFL
In the NFL s first fourteen seasons, a grand total of thirteen African Americans got to play
football professionally. In 1920, only two black men played, then nine in 1925, but back down
to two in 1933. To play football professionally, an individual had to attend college where he
would have played football for his school, and once his college career came to an end, he would
either be put onto a team, or start a different career. If an African Americancame from an upper
class family, which was totally possible, and had a passion for football, he would attend college
and play college football until the time of his graduation where we a pro team could pick him up.

Many African Americans did not even have the chance to get a proper high schooleducation either!
African Americans who were too poor to pay for a college education, never got the chance to
play professional football. However, no African Americans played in the NFL from 1934 to
1945 whether they attended college or not. A man by the name of George Preston Marshall is to
blame for that. Marshall was the founder of the Boston Redskins, and was the one who proposed
NFL for separate divisions and a championship game. Marshall also persuaded NFL owners that
by not signing black players, just like what was happening in the MLB, would make the public see
football as a major league sport. Every NFL owner at the time thought Marshall s statement was
correct and continued thinking that way for an additional eleven years! The Redskins however
continued to do so up until 1969 which made them the very last NFL team to sign an African

Is The Flag Of The United States Of America Considered...
Could disrespecting the flag of the United States of America considered patriotic? It all depends on
the scenario. In the article Patriotism by Igor Primoratz, he mentions the philosophical study
conducted by Stephen Nathanson, who states patriotism is defined as Special affection for one s
country , Special concern for the well being of the country , and Willingness to sacrifice to promote
the country s good. These properties can be seen through a number of different scenarios including
protests. Recently the San Francisco 49ersquarterback Colin Kaepernick decided to protest recent
police brutality towards African Americans and minorities. During the first 49ers preseason games
at first sitting in during the National Anthem, later... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While discussing the success of the demonstrations in the Speak for Yourself radio show, Fox
Sports sports commentator, Colin Cowherd explained I believe this entire thing, has been
successful. He protests, there is pushback. He is booed, he is cheered. Some players followed, lost
their endorsements... people are discussing it. This embodies what we are about. In the United States
we are entitled to our own beliefs and our ability to have a voice. Through the actions of the players
voicing their beliefs, the entire scenario has gained national attention. Colin Kaepernick s among
other athletes concern over this situation demonstrates their affection for this country in the hopes
for improvement of this country. Through his protests the entire country has engaged in debate his
actions and the topic he stands for.
A special concern for the well being of the country is an indication that one is patriotic. As the
protests expand across the National Football League and even into other sports, the attention that
this topic is getting increases exponentially. The Seattle Seahawks also raised attention to the topic,
but through a different form of protest. On the fifteenth anniversary of September 11, the team as a
whole locked arms during the playing of the National Anthem as a demonstration of racial unity.
Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin stated I am looking forward to the many changes and

Man And Leapor s Essay On Woman
Optimism vs. Pessimism in Pope s Essay on Man and Leapor s Essay on Woman
Both Alexander Pope s Essay on Man, Epistle 2 and Mary Leapor s Essay on Woman expound the
fatalist contention that neither man nor woman can win, as each individual exists in a world of
trade offs. Yet, by each author s singulartechnique of sculpting his ideas with the literary tools of
contrast, argument, and syntax, the cores of the two essays turn back to back, evolving into
distinct, but contrary perspectives of Man s (in respect to mankind) and Woman s existence. Pope
asserts that a profusion of trade offs establish a certain equilibrium point where Man hangs on this
isthmus of a middle state (Magill 2629). After defining the boundaries of Man s ... Show more

Pope chooses neither good nor bad connotations ( A being darkly wise, and rudely great ) to avoid
judging either of man s extremes. Instead he skillfully chooses each word to avoid judging either
extreme as good or bad, right or wrong. Darkly, on its own, connotes the unseen, the undefined
and is uniquely paired with wise, a word denoting a grasp on definition or reason. Rudely great
again combines two impartial words that seem to stand in a paradox as a unit rudely suggests low
class and lack of refinement (but lacks the moral judgment of crudely ) while great indicates
superiority, prominence and nobility (without implying self righteous conceit, as grand might have
done). Paired, however, each phrase ( Darkly wise and rudely great ) carries on its own distinctive
hybridized meaning. Darkly wise, comes to depict an indefinite sensibility and rudely great, denotes
an unrefined dignity. Much simpler contrasts between black and white, dark and light, strength and
weakness might have sufficed, but, efforting to capture the depth of Man s character, Pope creates
contrasts that escape the banality of common antonyms and espouse the sundry spectrums of
qualities that comprise Man s character. By these contrasts, Pope was able to construct his thesis,
case in point, by illustrating the creative conglomeration that propitiously sets Man apart from God
and beast.
Leapor contrasts images to illustrate the perfection of woman and the

Ruling Into The Experience Machine
When first asked about whether or not I would get in the experience machine, I was confused and
torn between the two choices. On one hand, I could plug into the machine and go through whatever
experience I wanted and simply live it out in the machine. This is extremely tempting due to the
absence of responsibility what person wouldn t wantto go at least 2 years without having to worry
about any job, school, or other duties to stress them out? It is also tempting because of the
opportunity to be able to experience many things that probably would not be possible in the real
world for the common person (like me). Imagine being able to experience and have the memory of
an exciting and adventurous activity such as climbing Mt. Everest, without having to be in any
actual danger or pay for any of the expensive costs that are associated with such an adventure....

sort of way is not part of that plan. It also seems as if my life would be a waste if I spent even as

Domestic Problems Of African Americans
Abstract Living in the Southern parts of the United States since the end of the Civil War was
not easy for people of color especially African Americans. Because of a great deal of economic
uncertainty, it was gravely difficult to attain financial security as well as be treated as an equal
instead of a piece a property which had been the case for over three hundred years. Nearly one
fourth of all white Southerners owned slaves, and upon the backs of these slaves, the economic
basis of America and much of the Atlantic world was constructed. In the several cotton states, one
third of all white income was derived from slavery. By the end of the Civil War and the
abolishment of slavery, White Americans began isolating the ex slaves. The... Show more content on

New political, social, and economic systems emerged that transformed the South from a rural,
slave based society, to an increasingly urban, industrialized, free labor society. The changes to the
social, political, and economic landscape of the South prompted an unprecedented era of racial
violence throughout the region (Jett, p.40). The Southern states deemed slavery was crucial to
safeguard white superiority. Most Southern whites who had aspirations of becoming a very
prominent slave owner, were terrified of a society with considerable numbers of African
Americans who were not slaves. Segregation moved by way of public accommodations, all the
way through the South. DeFina Hannon (2011) and others showed daily interactions of whites and
blacks in the South, during reconstruction of the south identified racial prejudices were increasing
steadily, after the Civil War and especially during the 1880 s. Town after town across the south
flatly banned African Americans within their city limits after dark. Legal, political, social and
demographic changes in the south made lynching dysfunctional as a source of control. Among
other more delicate control mechanisms, modern housing segregation helped serve as a
replacement to brutal racial oppression or even death. Jim Crow Laws The term Jim Crow laws

Adolescence Is A Form Of Social Rejection
Adolescence is a period of clear gains in intelligence and cognitive skills and one of intense
emotions and impulsive behavior (Johnson de Haan, 2015). We experience a higher sensitivity to
rejection during this time and place great importance of peer relationships (Masten et al., 2009).
Frequent experiences of social rejectionhave been linked with lasting somatic, psychosomatic, and
internalizing disorders (Wolke Lereya, 2015), such as depression and anxiety (Rigby, 2000; as
cited in Masten et al., 2009). Educators and researchers alike have attempted to intervene in
hopes of reducing antisocial behaviors like bullying, a form of social rejection. In this paper, I

Adolescence and broad changes during this period
According to Crone and Dahl (2011), adolescence is a transition phase between childhood and
adulthood. They, and many other researchers (e.g, Arnett, 2015), do not believe that the beginning
and end have clear cut boundaries. Somewhat helpfully, a general range of adolescence has been
agreed upon in the literature and is between the ages of 9 and 19; this uses the onset of pubertal
maturation as a marker. Johnson and de Haan (2015) and others have remarked that it is a time that

Themes Of Violence In Dante In Love, Dante Alighieri
Introduction
According to English writer, A. N. Wilson, in Dante in Love , Dante Alighieri,
A.N. Wilson s perspective of Dante Alighieri as a poet, as well as a madman
According to (Wilson 2011), Dante Alighieri, author of the Divine Comedy, is a man whom
resembled both a poet and a madman. Wilson briefly emphasises in, Dante in Love , the two
contrasting depictions from Leonardo Bruni and Giovanni Boccaccio, of whom Dante was with
regards to the role that he played within the Florentine society and how it influenced him as a poet
in his work. (Sayers 1949), asserts that the Divine Comedy is an allegorical poem, influenced by,

imposed on. These sins of violence is taken on three different forms being: performing harm on
other people, harm on oneself or harm on God, as explain by Vigil in the eleventh canto of the
Divine Comedy (Sayers, Dante The Divine Comedy 1: Hell 1949).
The relationship between violence and Dante as a poet
The violence portrayed in the poem
The relationship between violence and madness
In accordance with the scenes of violence found in Dante s Inferno, a link can be found in Wilson s
argument that violent scenes within the poem can justify the possibility of Dante being both a
poet, as well as a madman. Dante s Inferno, as emphasised by A. N. Wilson, is a popular and
exciting read not only from the unpredictability of order of events (Dante wrote Inferno without
have a clear vision of how the poem will end), but for the poem s, sheer brilliance and beauty of
its words, its music , as well as for its, unforgettable characterization (Wilson 2011).

Native Americans In Eastern Woodlands
In the Eastern Woodlands, the native Iroquoian people populated the area, who set fires twice a
year to clear away underbrush to allow an easier hunting season. In addition, they had no universal
style of government, with many organized into chiefdoms. Near The Great Lakes, there were
several different types of natives collectively called the Anishinaabe. Many Europeans found that
the Anishinaabe had a vast social landscape, with the peoples of the Ottawas, Ojibwas, and
Potawatomis. Additionally, these people would use canoes to travel across the Great Lakes.

Spain, Portugal, and France sought to convert natives to the Roman Catholic Church, while
England and the Netherlands believed that Catholicism was corrupt, and attempted to build
support for the Protestant movement in the New World. During the age of exploration and
colonization, Portuguese mariners first found success in establishing trade along the African
coast. They set up trading posts on offshore island using a new ship design, planting a variety of
crops and trading commodities with people along the coast. Additionally, Vasco da Gama
travelled around the tip of Africa to trade with East Africa and India. While their most of their
goods were seen as inferior, da Gama returned with fighting vessels and established trading posts
in the Indian Ocean by using force. Before Europeans joined the African slave trade, slavery was
widespread throughout Africa, and slaves served to pay off debts, sold by their kin in exchange
for goods during famine, or as war captives. The slaves were central to the trans Saharan trade,
and on occasion the slaves would be freed from servitude. Once the Europeans began to exploit the

Executive summary
Diva shoes is an international shoes company that is experiencing rapid growth. Due to this rapid
growth, the company never established a robust hedging strategy to protect itself against
fluctuations of the multiple currencies it engages with.
This situation became more severe in Japan. The company s growth in Japan exceeded all
expectations, and unlike other countries in which the company conducted business (Italy for
example) the company had almost no expenses there, and had to convert all the Yens it generated
from selling its merchandise to dollars.
In the last few years, the Yen appreciated against the dollars, making the company s lack of hedging

ratio for 1995. I m aware that this is not a great projection, as it ignores economies of scale and
efficiency improvements as the company grows, but for the purposes of this projection, it s the
best I can do. The calculation is shown in the excel spreadsheet. e. I estimated the Yen/Dollar
exchange rate to be 90. It is a bit higher than the current spot rate, but follows the trend according
to exhibit 1. Exhibit 1 shows an appreciation to the Yen, which slows down to a crawl near the
beginning of 1995. Based on the case I believe it is safe to assume a minor depreciation to the Yen
for Sep 1995.
Based on the assumptions above I project revenues for 1995 to be $93,939,025.90
4. Similar to question 3, this question require me to make several assumptions. I ve used the exact
same assumptions as the ones made in question 3.
Using these assumptions, I project net income to be $8,874,315.89. This means that the EPS for
1995 is $0.74 which reflects a 20.71% growth year over year.
The full calculation and income statement for 1995 is shown in the attached spreadsheet. 5. The
statement is accurate. If Diva Shoes hedges with either an option or a forward contract that locks

Hymn To Aten And Enuma Elis
The creation of the Earth, human beings, and all that is existent and nonexistent is a topic that has
been discussed and pondered as long as time itself. Cosmologies may contrast greatly from region
to region, while some cultures beliefs run parallel to each other. The Babylonian creation myth
detailed in the Enuma Elis and one of the Egyptian creation myths narrated in the Hymn to Aten
outline the culture s own religious answer to the working of the universe. The Enuma Elis follows
the story of multiple gods that, when working with and working against each other, create a greater
being which ultimately creates human life. The Egyptian Hymn to Aten depicts the power of their

These opinionated acts of the gods causes them to appear subject to bias and irrationality; both of
which instill harsh traits which cause the gods to be beings worthy of fear in the eyes of mankind.
The Egyptian pharaoh Akhenaten depicts his own beliefs on the nature of divinity in his writing of
the Hymn to Aten. Egyptian ideology, previous based around multiple gods, became monotheistic
under the rule of Akhenaten. He wrote the hymn to express Aten as the sole God without equal who
created all that exists (NYU Classes). Aten created life and controls life in this Egyptian creation
myth, and his divinity is one that adheres to a cyclical nature of life and death. He gives his
people the things they need while also caring for the animals. The speaker s voice in the hymn
illuminates the greatness of Aten as each line is one of adoration and amazement. Aten is depicted
as beauteous, mighty and radiant as he lights and warms the Earth for mankind, further reinforcing
the immense devotion the speaker has for their god (NYU Classes). This level of love for Aten
shows he is a good natured god with good intentions for his people.
As multiple gods exist, conflicts and distinct traits also exist. This truth is seen clearly in the
contrast between Aten and the Babylonian gods. Aten is characterized as an exceptionally calm and
caring god, and as he is never seen in a situation where he needs to defend himself, this inherently
good nature is consistent. On the

Although the NFL is trying to change their involvement on domestic violence issues, it is unclear
at this time if they will follow through. The NFL and Goodell continue to be under media
scrutiny, especially since swift and proper action against Rice did not happen until after the
footage was released. They have changed their policy to a six game suspension for a first offense,
although offense is not defined and is open for interpretation in the policy. There are still football
players who continue to play despite legal action against them in domestic violence disputes. The
article continues with pointing out the fact that the NFL cannot altogether end the problem of
domestic violence in the world today, but it can use the recent media attention to bring awareness
to the problem. Although the ways in which the NFL handled these cases previously are
questionable at best, there is potential to recover from previous mistakes by continuing to hold
their athletes accountable and providing awareness on the subject. Overall, this article did an
extremely good job of pointing out the discrepancies of how the NFL has handled domestic
violence cases throughout the years. It was organized well in

Project financing discipline includes understanding the rationale for project financing, preparation
of the financial plan, assessment of the risks, designing the financing mix, and raising the funds. In
addition, one must understand the cogent analyses of why some project financing plans have
succeeded while others have failed. A knowledge base is required regarding the design of
contractual arrangements to support project financing; issues like the host of legislative provisions,
government and administrative constrains, public and private infrastructure partnerships, public
and private financing structures; credit requirements of lenders, how to determine the project s
borrowing capacity; how to prepare cash flow projections and use them to measure expected rates of

Cultural Differences Between Chinese Culture And Western...

Approaches Of The Classical And Human Relations...
There are hundreds of thousands of different approaches within the Classical and Human Relations
environment and management field. Many of these approaches are similar and compatible in
nature, and as well have various looks that show their differences and incompatibilities. Let s
explore how these organizations use systems and theories in their everyday work life and discover
the incompatibilities between each of the approaches.
Classic Management and its Structure
The definition of Classical management states that it is a result of the early attempts to
formalize principles for a growing number of professional managers (Jeliniek, 2005) . Mariann
Jeliniek, Henri Fayol, and Frederick Winslow Taylor are all seen as the forefathers of classical
management (Parker and Ritson, 2005). Classical theory sought rationality and order in the
workplace, and worked through what they had called the one best way, which is what they had
thought was the most logical division of labor, appropriate structure to relate the activities, the
correct amount of control for directing activities, and as well the proper allocation of responsibility
designated to a proper authority. These three classical theorists asserted their insights and became
universally applicable to all organizations. To help ensure there was efficiency in the workplace
there had to be specialized labor, proper direction and coordination, and effective planning in an
organization.

The June 2011 total eclipse
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra (shadow).
This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned (in syzygy ) exactly, or very
closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full
moon. The type and length of an eclipse depend upon the Moon s location relative to its orbital
nodes. Unlike a solar eclipse, which can only be viewed from a certain relatively small area of the
world, a lunar eclipse may be viewed from anywhere on the night side of the Earth. A lunar eclipse
lasts for a few hours, whereas a total solar eclipse lasts for only a few minutes at any given place,

Shorter wavelengths are more likely to be scattered by the air molecules and the small particles,
and so by the time the light has passed through the atmosphere, the longer wavelengths dominate.
This resulting light we perceive as red. This is the same effect that causes sunsets and sunrises to
turn the sky a reddish color; an alternative way of considering the problem is to realize that, as
viewed from the Moon, the Sun would appear to be setting (or rising) behind the Earth.
The amount of refracted light depends on the amount of dust or clouds in the atmosphere; this
also controls how much light is scattered. In general, the dustier the atmosphere, the more that
other wavelengths of light will be removed (compared to red light), leaving the resulting light a
deeper red color. This causes the resulting coppery red hue of the Moon to vary from one eclipse
to the next. Volcanoes are notable for expelling large quantities of dust into the atmosphere, and a
large eruption shortly before an eclipse can have a large effect on the resulting color.
Danjon scale
The following scale (the Danjon scale) was devised by AndrГ© Danjon for rating the overall
darkness of lunar eclipses:[4]
L=0: Very dark eclipse. Moon almost invisible, especially at mid totality. L=1: Dark eclipse, gray or

Equal Rights Amendment
The Equal Rights Amendment, which was introduced in 1923, was a movement for women s rights
that ultimately lasted until 1982. The Equal Rights Amendment is discussed in our textbook,
America, A Concise Theory, on page 898. This particular site was chosen because it comes directly
from the website dedicated to the history of the Equal Rights Amendment. The amount of
informative content and photos was also a factor in choosing this website. Although there were
several interesting facts in the articles, three stuck out to me the most. The first interesting piece
of information was the amount of effort it took to allowing equal voting rights. In 1848, Elizabeth
Cady Stanton and another woman, Lucretia Motts, gathered over 300 people for a two day
meeting to bring attention to the lack of equality. After several resolutions were passed fairly
easily, equality in voting still proved to be a problem. Twenty four years later in 1972, Susan B.
Anthony was arrested, convicted and fined for trying to cast a ballot in the election. Stanton, Motts
and Anthony all pioneered the way for women to work towards equality in voting, but all died
before they ever had a chance to cast their own votes. The second interesting fact of the articles was
how the 19th Amendment passed. At the start of the 20th century, the 19th Amendment, which is
women s rights to vote, seemed to be making major progress. More than half of the required states
ratified the amendment within the first year,

Stereotypes In The Criminal Justice System
The Criminal Justice System as a whole is always under constant scrutiny, and nearly everyone
has a different perspective regarding the subject. In 1976, a student studying criminal justice
offered his own analysis of the system. He viewed said system as one that was unfair, harsh, and
biased and that it should no longer be viewed as a Criminal Justicesystem, but instead a Criminal
Processing System. I have sat and considered this statement for much time now, and I can only
interpret it in one way. His view of the system is that criminals are treated unfairly and simply put
through the judicial system similarly to the way a product is created on an assembly line. By

A model describing the criminal justice system by Packer (1964) offers two separate ideas with
very different values based on which political party holds office. For people with conservative
views the crime control model is suggested. In this model, the main concern is to control and
reduce crime to a minimum, as well as keep it efficient. On the other hand, is the due process
model and is tied to liberal values. In this model, equality and due process are the main concern.
Both parties still view criminals similarly though and feel that criminals should be punished, one
is just more time consuming and accurate than the other. Nationally, our criminal justice budget
is over 200 billion dollars each year which is distributed to all branches of the system
accordingly. Despite having what seems to be more than enough money to run a well
orchestrated justice system, it would never be fair to make the system tougher. The reason for this
is because in order to be tough on crime, it has to be the same for every level of crime. This would
mean that smaller crimes would be accompanied with harsher punishments. Harsher punishments
on all crime would lead to a sequence of events introduced by Stanley Cohen in 1972. First, a moral
panic would occur which would make citizens think that any little crime is punishable by prison
time. In

Lost Colony Of Roanoke Essay
The Lost Colony of Roanoke
Queen Elizabeth I desired to establish a permanent English settlement in America, known then as
the New World. In the summer of 1587 a group of nearly 120 men and women from England
arrived on Roanoke Island, one of a chain of barrier islands now known as the Outer Banks, off
the coast of what is now known as North Carolina. This group of settlers set sail from England with
the mission of making the Queen s wishes a reality.
John White was appointed Governor of the colony by Sir Walter Raleigh. Sometime later,
Governor White set sail for England to gather supplies for the colony. Before he had left for
England, White and the colonists had discussed leaving the settlement and founding the city of
Raleigh on the mainland, so the fact that the colonists were no longer in the settlement would not
have been surprising to White. The colonists also worked out signals to communicate with those
who were coming to their assistance. For example, if they left due to an attack, they were
supposed to carve a Maltese cross over their doorposts to signal that they were in distress.
Alternatively, if they left to try to find a more suitable place, they were supposed to carve the

to tell you about the ones that I found most interesting to me. I would first like to tell you about
Cornelius Vanderbilt.
Cornelius Vanderbilt was born in Port Richmondon Staten Island, N. Y. in 1794. Cornelius at the
age of 16 had already stepped into the busniess world and he didn t even know it. At 16 he entered
into the steamboat business when he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the mere age of 16 he went to work for a firm of farm produce shippers. A couple of years
later, he went into that business for himself. In 1862, he went into business with Samuel Andrews,
the inventor of an inexpensive process for the refinement of crude petroleum. By 1870 the
company had been superseded then in 1870 Rockefeller and his brother William and several
associates took over the business. By the 1880 s the company was one of the largest and richest
manufacturing concerns in the world. Rockefeller main concern wasn t always business he married
Laura Celestia Spelman in 1864. They had three daughters Bessie, Edith, and Alta and one son John
D. Rockefeller, Jr. In 1862 Rockefeller formed the Standard Oil Trust. This, the first corporate
trust, was declared an illegal monopoly and ordered dissolved by the Ohio Supreme Court in
1892. Rockefeller retired as president in 1911. Also in 1911 the company was broken into
separate corporations by an antitrust decision of the U.S. Supreme Court. At the peak of
Rockefeller s personal fortune was estimated at almost 1 billion dollars. Rockefeller founded the
University of Chicago in 1892. Rockefeller died at the age of 97 on May 23, 1937, in Ormond,
Florida. He was buried in Lake View Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio.

Research Paper On Malala Yousafzai
Last Friday, Malala Yousafzai from Pakistan and Kailash Satyarthi from India each won the
Nobel Peace Prize for their campaigns for children s rights. On October 9, 2012, Malala had
been shot in the head for standing up for girl s rights to education. After recovery, she took her
cause worldwide, speaking at the United Nations last year about her experience. She is the
youngest person to ever receive the Nobel Prize, aged at only 17 years old. She has stated that this
will not be the end of her cause, but instead only the beginning. Kailash Satyarthi is a 60 year old
man who has been peacefully protesting against the usage of children to gain money. When
accepting the award, he stated that it deserves to go to all of those who fight child slavery.
Analysis
Malala and Satyarthi s struggles are for rights already guaranteed in the United States Constitution.
In the Preamble, it says that the people agree to uphold justice and promote the general ... Show

Just knowing about the cause and remaining informed is better than remaining ignorant. The
issue of child trafficking and slavery, along with a child s lack of proper education is not a small
matter and should not be overlooked by the general public. The more people that there are who
know, the more people there are to make a change. People can form charity events to raise
money, or donate supplies. Not only should people know about the cause, but they should know
about the people who won the prize, as well. It shows that you can make a change at any age, not
only with Malala being the youngest person to ever win the Nobel Peace Prize, but with Satyarthi
being 60 and still making a difference. Malala was even shot in the head for what she believed,
yet she still stands strong today. It can not only serve as a lesson of courage and bravery, but one
of how you can achieve many things when you truly believe in a

Tracing Changes in Pythagoras Speech in Ovid s Metamorphoses
Change in Ovid, as well as in life, seems to be the only constant. Change is the subject of the
Metamorphoses and Ovid s purpose in recounting myths is established from the very beginning: My
intention is to tell of bodies changed to different forms... with a poem that runs from the world s
beginning to our own days (1.1 4). From this foundation, Ovid launches into his stories, using
metamorphosis more as a vehicle for telling his stories than as an actual subject matter. Although he
retells religious myths, Ovid is not writing a religious manuscript. Rather, the product is a work of
literature. Ovid is conscious that he is writing literature, not religion, and ... Show more content on

By contrast, Ovid s motives in narrating myths in the Metamorphoses are rarely ulterior. Most
myths are free of the religious implications and the moralistic nuances that his Greek
predecessors used as the backbone of their plays and poems. Instead, Ovid chooses to entertain
his readership by his brilliant language and delight them with not only absorbing tales, but also
with his masterful talent of weaving narratives together. Let us not be overzealous and label Ovid
as an entertainer, for his themes and purpose change as quickly as the stories he narrates. Rather, it
is safer to say that Ovid relieves his audience of any ulterior religious or moral meaning.
Pythagoras, on the other hand, inveighs against his audience to refrain from meat eating, in some
cases comparing them to cannibals like Thyestes and the Cyclops. Pythagoras neglects to give a
reason for not eating meat, waiting almost a hundred lines to explain that the spirit comes and
goes, is housed wherever it wills, shifts residence from beasts to men, from men to beasts (15.171
173). Our souls, Pythagoras claims, are deathless... when they leave our bodies, they find new
dwelling places (15.162 164). Pythagoras asserts that the spirit, or soul, is the same in men and
animals since man can be reincarnated into beast and vice versa; therefore, eating an animal is
equivalent to cannibalism. A contemporary of Pythagoras, Xenophanes, mocked this belief in the

Christmas Music In Christmas
A lot of people look forward to Christmas season, especially retailers because sales gets a boost. It
is the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of the Yuletide season.
However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year end holiday melodies could be
bad for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist, explained that listening to too many
carols makes people feel trapped. It is a constant reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals,
and organize Christmas parties, the Daily Mail reported.
Kaching of Christmas
But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on ringing which is
why department store and shopping mall operators start airing Christmas songs weeks ahead of
December 25. As a result of the constant exposure to carols ahead of the year end holiday, 61
percent of people suffer from stress during the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said.
Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people s emotions, Blair pointed out. It
involves several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes, conditioning, visual imagery,
expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion.
If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it would use the
energy of mall goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Retail workers need to tune out the
Christmas music, she said; otherwise, it will stop them from being able to focus on anything else.

The Missouri River Change
Reasons for Current Situation All of the 3,350 miles of riverine habitat within the pallid sturgeon s
range have been affected by man. Approximately 28% has been impounded, which has created
unsuitable lake like habitat; 51% has been channelized into deep, uniform channels; the remaining
21% is downstream of dams which have altered the river s hydrograph, temperature and turbidity.
Commercial fishingand environmental contaminants may have also played a role in the pallid
sturgeon s decline. The resultant changes to the Missouri River in the upper Great Plains from
channelization prevent upstream migration. The reduced water flow rates and sediment loads have
brought an end to the seasonal flooding of the flood plains in the region.... Show more content on

Restoration of woody debris in native rivers may help the recovery effort. The states in which
pallid sturgeon live have adopted a variety of fisheries regulations to protect individuals of the
species. North Dakota, South Dakota, and Louisiana require live release of all sturgeon, Montana
and Kansas do not allow commercial harvest of sturgeon. Given the long time to maturity and
intervals between spawns, loss of any individual is detrimental. The need to determine the most
likely areas of spawning, to identify any parasite or disease that may be impacting the
reproductive capabilities of pallid sturgeon, and to examine engineering possibilities that may
permit recreation of suitable habitats without reducing the USFWS s ability to protect people
from harmful and destructive flooding, and to maintain its ability to provide adequate water
impoundment for irrigation and recreation purposes is essential. In Missouri wild pallid sturgeon
larvae were collected in 1998. These nonhatchery raised larvae were the first recovered on the lower
Missouri River in the previous 50 years.

Recovery Plan
In 1997, through the combined effort of two Fishery Assistance offices, two National Fish
Hatcheries, one Ecological Services office, and two State game and fish departments (North Dakota
and Montana), two female and three male pallid sturgeons were spawned. Spawning pallid

The Myers-Briggs Personality Test
It has been said that every human being has Personality Type and temperament that shape who
they are and determines their relationships at work, school, and home and with spouse. It goes
further to predict their future, sort of, with respect to our career and occupational choice, such as
scientist, thinkers, artist, and so on. So in this project I will be receiving my four letter type and
two letter Temperaments by completing the Myers Briggs Personality Test. It is not at all
surprising that as people of different characters, ideas, personalities, and sizes are sharing the same
world, we need something to make sense why we are the way we are, and the why psychological
testing was invented in 1927 to help in answering this questions. Based... Show more content on

A Man with a Cornet Sword and Black and Blue Shield
Louis Satchelmouth Armstrong, an inventor of new style jazz and revolutionary artist noted as
one of the greatest men not only in the Jazz music development, but also what Duke Ellington
called as a truly god and original man. (DeVeaux, pp.140) Louis was known as the most notable
colored skin musician in 1920 s in North America due to his skill of modification in music. His
contribution in Jazz later on in his career was broader used as an effective advocate for racial
tolerance and equality in the USA and all over the world.
The innovations that makes him recognizable throughout the world can be formulized into five
significant instances: Introduction of blue notes, improvisation, scat singing, lots of repertory, and
swing. He revolutionized the blues music that was known to be more formal such as ragtime,
military band, and broadband onto something that more joyous and expressive. His invention is
somehow makes him success to spread Jazz projected the optimism and vitality of black American
[movement] (Von Eschen, pp.252) to a larger scale.
His signature of music uses New Orleans s style as a base, but he introduced blue scales and then
altered by an emotional performance that includes the sense of the song. That way, the audiences
are able to catch the message from the song he performed. Unlike the way Jazz it used to be,
Armstrong created a

A Streetcar Named Desire Escapism Essay
Explore the presentation of the theme of escapism in A Streetcar Named Desire One of the most
prominent themes in Tennessee Williams play A Streetcar Named Desire is escapism. Several
other themes, such as identity and the past and present, also relate to the idea of escape. This
particular theme is primarily illustrated through the character of Blanche, due to her desire for
escaping the truth; she appears to be on an endless journey to escape from her past experiences as
well as her current situation. Blanche s relationship with alcohol, constantly mentioned throughout
the duration of the play, relates to Williams theme of escapism; alcohol distorts an individual s
perception of what is real, and in Blanche s case it acts as a form... Show more content on

Identity is significant to the character of Stanley; when he is labelled Polack he becomes
increasingly more angry, American, born and raised in the greatest country on earth and proud
as hell of it, so don t ever call me a Polack. It s as if he s trying to move away from his old family
identity, to instead associate himself only with Americans. The late 1940s saw several changes
to traditional values, mirrored by the conflicting beliefs held by Blanche and Stanley. Stanley s
desire to be fully associated with the New South acts as a reminder of the new lives many
Americans began to lead after the end of the second world war; a form of escapism from pre war
life. Expanding on the idea that the themes of identity and escapism are connected; whereas Stella
appears to be content with her life in New Orleans, Blanche is unable to keep one singular
identity. The woman the audience meets at the very start of the play contrasts the version of
Blanche we see taken away by a doctor and nurse at the end of scene eleven; her gradual mental
deterioration during the play suggests that no matter how hard she tried, she could never truly
escape from her

  • 2. The Longest-Personal Narrative With my heart pounding I stepped forward. As the other competitors are doing everything to stay loose and ready, I simply could not stop shaking. To my left and right stood two seniors, the fastest half mile runner in the state and my biggest rival of that year. I felt very out of place, only a sophomore that season. In Montana, the 800m race at the state meet had been dominated by seniors for decades. The echoing silence filled the arena after the starter yelled, set!. If I were to recall the longest is second in my life, undoubtedly it would be that moment. Many times I have been asked to provide one word that describes myself. My peers would describe me as smart, athletic, and personable. However, I do not believe that any of those words ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Importance Of Millennials In The Workplace A large number of millennials are at the stage in life where they are entering the competitive workforce. However, they are often labeled with characteristics such as lazy, self entitled, and narcissistic. This, in many instances, leaves businessmen questioning the work ethic of this younger generation. As employers need members of staff to further or better their businesses, they face working with this generation touted as larger than the Baby Boomergeneration that is now entering senior adulthood. Many may worry that the differences in attitudes are too vast; however, employers should not be hesitant to accept millennials because they possess advanced technological skills, are open minded, and are ready for challenges. Millennials, who are also known as Generation Y, are categorized as an immensely large and diverse group. Understanding Millennials in the Workplace by Shele Bannon, Kelly Ford, and Linda Meltzer states that Numbering between 50 million and 80 million (depending upon the definition), Millennials represent a sizable population cohort (61). With a large population, it is recognized that their generation is coming into the workforce with a great impact. The authors further state, They account for 10% to 15% of the U.S. labor force, and they are currently entering the lower management ranks (Bannon et al. 61). To understand the hesitation when employing millennials, one must observe the way in which society views this generation and take those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Causes Of Eyewitness Testimony Intellectuals and experts alike share a common belief that the most significant cause of unjust convictions is due to inaccurate eyewitness testimonies. Scepticism of the validity of eye witness testimonies has increased dramatically; scientific credibility of forensic evidence has weakened its reliability. Thus, resulting in this being the dominant root of false convictions (Coolican, 1996). In 2007, The Innocence Project stated that over 75% of unjust convictions contained eye witness testimonies (Innocence Project, 2007). Further studies have also had comparable results, for example Brandon Davies (1973). Is it feasible that an individual s memory is so imprecise that it is unreliable in producing faultless memory recall? Furthermore, if memory is so undependable why is it still frequently used in the criminal justice system today if the consequence is innocent people being incarcerated? Historically, eyewitness testimony has been frequently practised, and has played a consequential role in the conviction of criminals. Monumental amounts of unsolved crimes lacking sufficient evidence has meant that an eyewitness testimony could help secure a much needed verdict in an otherwise unsolvable crime. However, in this contemporary society, experts claim that many factors can be responsible for faulty eyewitness testimony. For example, post incident events, most specifically suggestive police strategy (Brace and Byford, 2012). Milgram s (1963) study into obedience highlighted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Comparision Of Dual Stack Vs Tunneling A COMPARISION OF DUAL STACK VS TUNNELING IN A MIXED IPV4 / IPV6 ENVIRONMENT SHAILA_MODEM_13777MS BATCH : SAT 3:15 PM INTRODUCTION INTERNET PROTOCOL (IP) The IP provides a connectionless delivery system that is unreliable and on a best effort basis. The IP specifies the basic unit of data transfer in a TCP/IP internet as the datagram. Datagrams may be delayed, lost, duplicated, delivered out of sequence, or intentionally fragmented, to permit a node with limited buffer space to handle the IP datagram. It is the responsibility of the IP to reassemble any fragmented datagrams. In some error situations, datagrams are silently discarded while in other situations, error messages are sent to the originators (via the ICMP, a utility protocol.) The IP specifications also define how to choose the initial path over which data will be sent, and defines a set of rules governing the unreliable datagram service. IPV6 Transition has been studied to find the best way of migrating internet network system from using IPV4 to IPV6. Many mechanisms were purposed for transferring IPV4 packet on IPV6 network and IPV6 packet on IPV4 network. For example, IPV6 transition used End to End Tunnel by employing the exchange control message between host and server then IPV6 data can be transferred via IPV4 network . In addition, the internet protocol IVI is another internet protocol translation method that let IPV4 and IPV6 on the difference architecture network can communicate ... According to Henderson Reavis (2009), By 2007, Porsche had become the world s most financially profitable automaker on an annual per unit basis. They then go on to mention, This is especially impressive when considering that Porscheproduces over 100,000 vehicles annually. From Porsche s inception their focus has been place on the finer points of engineering. According to Henderson Reavis (2009), Per unit produced, Porsche records an average of $91,974, and by 2007 their annual income capped at $9.4 billion on revenue of $10 billion. With this growth it must be mentioned that the firm has experience some down points. For example, in the mid 1990s due to poor production processes and a recession in the United, which seriously affect sales nearly pushed Porsche Automotive Group into bankruptcy. In the end this led to a time when the firm was vulnerable to takeover. Another such time would be in 2008 when the firm s business integrity would come into question due to their actions surrounding the failed takeover of their former sub division VW. Porsche Automotive primarily specialized in luxury and sport models. The first vehicle produced by a Porsche subsidiary was the pre runner to the VW Beetle, the VW Type 60. The firm s leading models during the post World War 11 (WW2), era were the 550 Spyder, 904 6 GTS, and 911 Turbo in 1955, 1964, and 1975 respectively. • 8. Example Of Justifying A Value 1.)The first example of justifying a value is when getting my car detailed. I am looking at market value, fair value and the utility factor for the services. This service satisfies the need and desire for a clean car to take clients out with, after it was dirtied by a tough winter. I compared prices for similar car detailing services, and asked around for referrals from several people. Of the two companies, one was recommended strongly. I saw examples of each work and agreed with the highly recommended company. In my opinion, the cost at the time was fair value and, compared to other detailers, was market value. The prices were advertised for a year without any price increase. The second example of justifying a value is when purchasing products from Starbucks Coffee. There is a slight influence upon me through the desire of my teenage daughter wanting to visit the coffee shop. With my effective purchasing power, and both our desire of a drink/coffee/treat once and a while, we will go to Starbucks. It is true that Starbucks is a Going Concern, and their prices are fair value compared to Timothies and Tim Hortons. I have joined their rewards program, which enables me to occasionally receive free or discounted drinks, as well as free refills. • 10. Argumentative Essay On Homework Late nights, eyes only kept open by ungodly amounts of coffee, and never ending piles of paper: these are all symptoms of the nation sweeping homework epidemic. Students are assigned hours upon hours of after school homework every day but is it really necessary? Oftentimes, homework causes more harm than good on the mental, physical, and social health of students; therefore, after school assignments should be limited to the four core classes, minimizing those loads as much as possible, because more homeworkdoes not necessarily lead to highly successful students, immense amounts of stress are put on students every day, and an eight hour school day should be enough to disseminate the information needed. While some teachers believe that nightly homework is imperative to student achievement, data shows that homework at any level, from grade school to high school, does not equal success. Many East Asian countries, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan had lower average rates of homework, yet ranked very highly in math. While math homework is usually intended to practice the material learned in class that day, excessive repetition of the same equations will not make the information stick any more than a few practice problems. As stated by Ty Conner, ...children... are learning this material in order to complete their homework, which is in turn preparing them for a test, and after that test, the information... isn t reviewed afterwards . • 11. The Transmission Of Universal And Timeless Issues Through... An Eternal Prison The Transmission of Universal and Timeless Issues through Experiences in the Soviet Gulag Camps. Alexander Solzhenitsyn s novel One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich follows exactly as its title suggests, a day in the life of Ivan Denisovich, a prisoner of the Soviet Gulag camps, and the tribulations that he and his fellow prisoners encounter in their daily lives. Having personally experienced the horrific conditions of the Gulag camp system, Alexander Solzhenitsyn wrote the novel as a means to communicate these horrors to not only the Russian people, but also beyond the boundaries of the Soviet Union, to the international community. Its stark realism and political undercurrents shocked many at the time of its publishing, and caused a great amount of controversy in the Soviet Union (Klimoff xiv). The style in which Solzhenitsyn presents his work transcends the scope of the novel and its translation into something more sweeping. Although Ivan Denisovich is rooted in the contextual background of a Soviet Gulag, it is able to relay universal and timeless issues such as oppression, sense of identity, and the social hierarchy. The issue of oppression appears throughout the novel as Ivan Denisovich is imprisoned as a traitor as he had surrendered in order to betray his country and returned from POW camp to carry out a mission for German intelligence (Solzhenitsyn 69 70), and is sent to the Gulag. The Gulag camp system, were a series of labour camps created ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Shopping At An Outlet Mall 1.One of the themes of this chapter is that shopping at an outlet mall is work, not leisure. What is meant by this? 1. Chapter 4 suggests that shopping at an outlet mall is work, rather than leisure, in several ways. First, Shell mentions that outlet malls are located well outside population centers. This causes would be shoppers to drive sometimes an hour or more to shop at an outlet mall. She mentions that visiting the outlets demands an investment in time, deliberation, and energy beyond what we invest in most other leisure activities (Shell 91). Furthermore, Shell also uses several images throughout the chapter that convey a sense of work at an outlet mall; she conjures up images of all that time, all that gas (Shell 91), and most customer look exhausted and not what you d call fashion forward (Shell 97). This suggests that shopping in this form is a labor instead of a leisure activity. Apart from exercise, what activity that induces exhaustion is considered a leisure activity? Leisure activities are supposed to be enjoyable, and unlike exercising to exhaustion, shopping to exhaustion does little to improve one s figure. However, the outlet mall experience has been marketed as cost saving even though its foundation is sunk costs. 2.What is your favorite outlet mall and why do you like this mall? 2. • 16. Historical Significance of Eleanor Rigby Overview A song by Beatles, Eleanor Rigby was released simultaneously on the album Revolver in the year 1966 as well as on a 45 rpm single. Primarily, the song was written by Paul McCartney and was dedicated to Lennon McCartney (Miles, 1997). George Martin did a great job at making a string quartet arrangement. The striking lyrics about loneliness along with the arrangement transformed the kind of songs from what were mostly pop oriented to the kind that were studio based. There is no second opinion about the fact that this song made a dent in the conventions of the popular music; both in terms of lyrics and music (Campbell and Bondy, 2008). Pertaining to the fates and concerns of the elderly that are mostly neglected, Richie Unterberger has said that this is one of the main reasons why Beatles have been able to catch the attention of people who are beyond the traditional rock audience (Unterberger, 2013). Historical Significance This song also has a historical connotation since there is a gravestone by the name of Eleanor Rigby in St. Peter s Churchyard that is situated in Woolton, United Kingdom. It should be noted that Woolton is a suburb of the city of Liverpool and this is where Lennon and McCartney first met during a fete at St. Peter s Church. According to the gravestone that bears the name of Eleanor, she died at the age of 44 in the year 1939. In the article Patriotism by Igor Primoratz, he mentions the philosophical study conducted by Stephen Nathanson, who states patriotism is defined as Special affection for one s country , Special concern for the well being of the country , and Willingness to sacrifice to promote the country s good. These properties can be seen through a number of different scenarios including protests. In the United States we are entitled to our own beliefs and our ability to have a voice. Through the actions of the players voicing their beliefs, the entire scenario has gained national attention. Colin Kaepernick s among other athletes concern over this situation demonstrates their affection for this country in the hopes for improvement of this country. Through his protests the entire country has engaged in debate his actions and the topic he stands for. A special concern for the well being of the country is an indication that one is patriotic. Man And Leapor s Essay On Woman Optimism vs. Pessimism in Pope s Essay on Man and Leapor s Essay on Woman Both Alexander Pope s Essay on Man, Epistle 2 and Mary Leapor s Essay on Woman expound the fatalist contention that neither man nor woman can win, as each individual exists in a world of trade offs. Yet, by each author s singulartechnique of sculpting his ideas with the literary tools of contrast, argument, and syntax, the cores of the two essays turn back to back, evolving into distinct, but contrary perspectives of Man s (in respect to mankind) and Woman s existence. Pope asserts that a profusion of trade offs establish a certain equilibrium point where Man hangs on this isthmus of a middle state (Magill 2629). After defining the boundaries of Man s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pope chooses neither good nor bad connotations ( A being darkly wise, and rudely great ) to avoid judging either of man s extremes. Instead he skillfully chooses each word to avoid judging either extreme as good or bad, right or wrong. Darkly, on its own, connotes the unseen, the undefined and is uniquely paired with wise, a word denoting a grasp on definition or reason. Rudely great again combines two impartial words that seem to stand in a paradox as a unit rudely suggests low class and lack of refinement (but lacks the moral judgment of crudely ) while great indicates superiority, prominence and nobility (without implying self righteous conceit, as grand might have done). Paired, however, each phrase ( Darkly wise and rudely great ) carries on its own distinctive hybridized meaning. Darkly wise, comes to depict an indefinite sensibility and rudely great, denotes an unrefined dignity. Much simpler contrasts between black and white, dark and light, strength and weakness might have sufficed, but, efforting to capture the depth of Man s character, Pope creates contrasts that escape the banality of common antonyms and espouse the sundry spectrums of qualities that comprise Man s character. By these contrasts, Pope was able to construct his thesis, case in point, by illustrating the creative conglomeration that propitiously sets Man apart from God and beast. On one hand, I could plug into the machine and go through whatever experience I wanted and simply live it out in the machine. This is extremely tempting due to the absence of responsibility what person wouldn t wantto go at least 2 years without having to worry about any job, school, or other duties to stress them out? It is also tempting because of the opportunity to be able to experience many things that probably would not be possible in the real world for the common person (like me). • 21. Domestic Problems Of African Americans Abstract Living in the Southern parts of the United States since the end of the Civil War was not easy for people of color especially African Americans. Because of a great deal of economic uncertainty, it was gravely difficult to attain financial security as well as be treated as an equal instead of a piece a property which had been the case for over three hundred years. Nearly one fourth of all white Southerners owned slaves, and upon the backs of these slaves, the economic basis of America and much of the Atlantic world was constructed. New political, social, and economic systems emerged that transformed the South from a rural, slave based society, to an increasingly urban, industrialized, free labor society. The changes to the social, political, and economic landscape of the South prompted an unprecedented era of racial violence throughout the region (Jett, p.40). The Southern states deemed slavery was crucial to safeguard white superiority. Most Southern whites who had aspirations of becoming a very prominent slave owner, were terrified of a society with considerable numbers of African Americans who were not slaves. Segregation moved by way of public accommodations, all the way through the South. DeFina Hannon (2011) and others showed daily interactions of whites and blacks in the South, during reconstruction of the south identified racial prejudices were increasing steadily, after the Civil War and especially during the 1880 s. We experience a higher sensitivity to rejection during this time and place great importance of peer relationships (Masten et al., 2009). Frequent experiences of social rejectionhave been linked with lasting somatic, psychosomatic, and internalizing disorders (Wolke Lereya, 2015), such as depression and anxiety (Rigby, 2000; as cited in Masten et al., 2009). Educators and researchers alike have attempted to intervene in hopes of reducing antisocial behaviors like bullying, a form of social rejection. In this paper, I will (1) go over what adolescence is and broad developmental changes during this period; (2) affective causes of social rejection; (3) some effects of social rejection during adolescence; and lastly (4) some concluding statements and future directions. Adolescence and broad changes during this period According to Crone and Dahl (2011), adolescence is a transition phase between childhood and adulthood. They, and many other researchers (e.g, Arnett, 2015), do not believe that the beginning and end have clear cut boundaries. Somewhat helpfully, a general range of adolescence has been agreed upon in the literature and is between the ages of 9 and 19; this uses the onset of pubertal maturation as a marker. Shorter wavelengths are more likely to be scattered by the air molecules and the small particles, and so by the time the light has passed through the atmosphere, the longer wavelengths dominate. This resulting light we perceive as red. This is the same effect that causes sunsets and sunrises to turn the sky a reddish color; an alternative way of considering the problem is to realize that, as viewed from the Moon, the Sun would appear to be setting (or rising) behind the Earth. The amount of refracted light depends on the amount of dust or clouds in the atmosphere; this also controls how much light is scattered. In general, the dustier the atmosphere, the more that other wavelengths of light will be removed (compared to red light), leaving the resulting light a deeper red color. This causes the resulting coppery red hue of the Moon to vary from one eclipse to the next. The Equal Rights Amendment is discussed in our textbook, America, A Concise Theory, on page 898. This particular site was chosen because it comes directly from the website dedicated to the history of the Equal Rights Amendment. The amount of informative content and photos was also a factor in choosing this website. Although there were several interesting facts in the articles, three stuck out to me the most. The first interesting piece of information was the amount of effort it took to allowing equal voting rights. In 1848, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and another woman, Lucretia Motts, gathered over 300 people for a two day meeting to bring attention to the lack of equality. After several resolutions were passed fairly easily, equality in voting still proved to be a problem. Twenty four years later in 1972, Susan B. Anthony was arrested, convicted and fined for trying to cast a ballot in the election. Stanton, Motts and Anthony all pioneered the way for women to work towards equality in voting, but all died before they ever had a chance to cast their own votes. The second interesting fact of the articles was how the 19th Amendment passed. Despite having what seems to be more than enough money to run a well orchestrated justice system, it would never be fair to make the system tougher. For example, if they left due to an attack, they were supposed to carve a Maltese cross over their doorposts to signal that they were in distress. Alternatively, if they left to try to find a more suitable place, they were supposed to carve the names of the areas they would be traveling through so that White would be able to find them upon his ... After recovery, she took her cause worldwide, speaking at the United Nations last year about her experience. She is the youngest person to ever receive the Nobel Prize, aged at only 17 years old. She has stated that this will not be the end of her cause, but instead only the beginning. • 43. Tracing Changes in Pythagoras Speech in Ovid s... Tracing Changes in Pythagoras Speech in Ovid s Metamorphoses Change in Ovid, as well as in life, seems to be the only constant. Change is the subject of the Metamorphoses and Ovid s purpose in recounting myths is established from the very beginning: My intention is to tell of bodies changed to different forms... with a poem that runs from the world s beginning to our own days (1.1 4). From this foundation, Ovid launches into his stories, using metamorphosis more as a vehicle for telling his stories than as an actual subject matter. Although he retells religious myths, Ovid is not writing a religious manuscript. Rather, the product is a work of literature. Ovid is conscious that he is writing literature, not religion, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By contrast, Ovid s motives in narrating myths in the Metamorphoses are rarely ulterior. Most myths are free of the religious implications and the moralistic nuances that his Greek predecessors used as the backbone of their plays and poems. Instead, Ovid chooses to entertain his readership by his brilliant language and delight them with not only absorbing tales, but also with his masterful talent of weaving narratives together. Let us not be overzealous and label Ovid as an entertainer, for his themes and purpose change as quickly as the stories he narrates. Rather, it is safer to say that Ovid relieves his audience of any ulterior religious or moral meaning. Pythagoras, on the other hand, inveighs against his audience to refrain from meat eating, in some cases comparing them to cannibals like Thyestes and the Cyclops. Pythagoras neglects to give a reason for not eating meat, waiting almost a hundred lines to explain that the spirit comes and goes, is housed wherever it wills, shifts residence from beasts to men, from men to beasts (15.171 173). Our souls, Pythagoras claims, are deathless... when they leave our bodies, they find new dwelling places (15.162 164). Pythagoras asserts that the spirit, or soul, is the same in men and animals since man can be reincarnated into beast and vice versa; therefore, eating an animal is equivalent to cannibalism. A contemporary of Pythagoras, Xenophanes, mocked this belief in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Christmas Music In Christmas A lot of people look forward to Christmas season, especially retailers because sales gets a boost. It is the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of the Yuletide season. However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year end holiday melodies could be bad for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist, explained that listening to too many carols makes people feel trapped. It is a constant reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals, and organize Christmas parties, the Daily Mail reported. Kaching of Christmas But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on ringing which is why department store and shopping mall operators start airing Christmas songs weeks ahead of December 25. As a result of the constant exposure to carols ahead of the year end holiday, 61 percent of people suffer from stress during the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said. Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people s emotions, Blair pointed out. It involves several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes, conditioning, visual imagery, expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion. If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it would use the energy of mall goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Retail workers need to tune out the Christmas music, she said; otherwise, it will stop them from being able to focus on anything else. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Missouri River Change Reasons for Current Situation All of the 3,350 miles of riverine habitat within the pallid sturgeon s range have been affected by man. Approximately 28% has been impounded, which has created unsuitable lake like habitat; 51% has been channelized into deep, uniform channels; the remaining 21% is downstream of dams which have altered the river s hydrograph, temperature and turbidity. Commercial fishingand environmental contaminants may have also played a role in the pallid sturgeon s decline. The resultant changes to the Missouri River in the upper Great Plains from channelization prevent upstream migration. The reduced water flow rates and sediment loads have brought an end to the seasonal flooding of the flood plains in the region.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Restoration of woody debris in native rivers may help the recovery effort. The states in which pallid sturgeon live have adopted a variety of fisheries regulations to protect individuals of the species. North Dakota, South Dakota, and Louisiana require live release of all sturgeon, Montana and Kansas do not allow commercial harvest of sturgeon. Given the long time to maturity and intervals between spawns, loss of any individual is detrimental. The need to determine the most likely areas of spawning, to identify any parasite or disease that may be impacting the reproductive capabilities of pallid sturgeon, and to examine engineering possibilities that may permit recreation of suitable habitats without reducing the USFWS s ability to protect people from harmful and destructive flooding, and to maintain its ability to provide adequate water impoundment for irrigation and recreation purposes is essential. In Missouri wild pallid sturgeon larvae were collected in 1998. These nonhatchery raised larvae were the first recovered on the lower Missouri River in the previous 50 years. A Streetcar Named Desire Escapism Essay Explore the presentation of the theme of escapism in A Streetcar Named Desire One of the most prominent themes in Tennessee Williams play A Streetcar Named Desire is escapism. Several other themes, such as identity and the past and present, also relate to the idea of escape. This particular theme is primarily illustrated through the character of Blanche, due to her desire for escaping the truth; she appears to be on an endless journey to escape from her past experiences as well as her current situation. Blanche s relationship with alcohol, constantly mentioned throughout the duration of the play, relates to Williams theme of escapism; alcohol distorts an individual s perception of what is real, and in Blanche s case it acts as a form... Identity is significant to the character of Stanley; when he is labelled Polack he becomes increasingly more angry, American, born and raised in the greatest country on earth and proud as hell of it, so don t ever call me a Polack. It s as if he s trying to move away from his old family identity, to instead associate himself only with Americans. The late 1940s saw several changes to traditional values, mirrored by the conflicting beliefs held by Blanche and Stanley. Stanley s desire to be fully associated with the New South acts as a reminder of the new lives many Americans began to lead after the end of the second world war; a form of escapism from pre war life. Expanding on the idea that the themes of identity and escapism are connected; whereas Stella appears to be content with her life in New Orleans, Blanche is unable to keep one singular identity.
