(2001). These researchers argue that job embeddedness is a direct antecedent both of intent to quit
and voluntary turnover. A number of studies have followed this research direction and found that
job embeddedness explained significant incremental variance in turnover beyond that explained
by job satisfaction and organizational commitment (e.g., Lee et al., 2004; Holtom and O Neill,
2004; Besich, 2005; Holtom and Inderrieden, 2006). However how job embeddedness is
developed or what factors cause employees embedded in their jobs to keep them from leaving the
organization still requires investigation. This study attempts to partly answer that question by
testing whether job embeddedness is a mediator of the relationship between human resource
practices and employees intention to quit. Research background and hypotheses Efforts to
elucidate the causes of the intention to quit of employees have focused on individual level
factors, such as personal preferences, and organizational level factors, such as human resource
practices (Deutsch et al., 2000). Individual level explanations stress the differences among people,
often by examining the process by which jobholders consider other employment possibilities (Lee
and Mitchell, 1994; Deutsch et al., 2000). Individual level studies traditionally link employees
interest in changing jobs to their level of job satisfaction (Brayfield and Crockett, 1955; Vroom,
1964; Price, 1977; Mobley et al., 1979). However, empirical

List the carrying capacities below. Ample: 400 Moderate: 300 Little: 100 4. Analyze: How did
the amount of space available to the rabbits affect how many individuals the environment could

As the amount of available land decreases, vital resources such as food, water, and living space
will decrease as well. 6. Challenge yourself: Other than space, what might be another density

Vincent Van Gogh Research Papers
Vincent Van Gogh was a post impressionist painter, born in the Netherlands on March 30, 1853.
He died on July 29, 1890, in France at the age of 37. Sadly, Vincent was poor and virtually
unknown his entire life. Currently his work is known for its beauty, emotion, and color, and
although he tried many times never sold a single painting. Van Gogh struggled with mental
illness, despite this, his work highly influenced 20th century art and still wildly popular today.
Van Gogh s passion for art likely began as a child. His mother, Anna Cornelio Carbentus, was an
emotional artist, with a love of nature, drawing and watercolors. As a child Van Gogh was a
mildly sad child. At ag 15, his family was having financially issues, and was forced to leave
school to work. He got a job working for his Uncle Cornelis, at and art dealership, Goupil Cie.
Van Gogh, by this point, was already fluent in French, German, and English, and of course
Dutch. In June of 1873, Van Gogh was transferred to the Groupil Gallery in London. When he
did, he fell in love with the English culture. He enjoyed reading Charles Dickens and George
Eliot, and visited art galleries whenever he could. He as well fell in love with his landlady s
daughter, Eugenie Loyer, who he proposed to. When she turned him down he completely broke

t until the fall of 1880 that Van Gogh decided to become and artist. He moved to Brussels to
pursue his goal. Vincent s younger brother Theo, an art dealer, wanted to support him financially.

The Gonorrhea Disease
Gonorrhea, one of the fastest growing STDs with almost 400,000 new cases per year in the U.S., is
a common bacterial illness that is transmitted sexually and perinatally (CDC, 2016). The disease
primarily affects the mucous membranes of the lower genital tract, but can also reach the rectum,
oropharynx, and the conjunctivae (Tan et al., 2008). Mucous membranes, rich in mucous glands,
line body passages and cavities, and within men, this includes the urethra, while within women, it
includes the vagina (Miriam Webster Dictionary, 2017). Currently, there is a working antibiotic for
the bacteria, though early recognition is required for its use, and at the moment, a vaccine is being
worked on for the disease (Kollar et al., 2005). For men, the... Show more content on

there is no way to fully prepare for gonorrhea besides being careful, but scientists are working on
a vaccine that the population could take at a young age to build a defense against the bacteria
(Kollar et al., 2005). However, the difficulty in designing this drug is in the bacteria s methods of
resistance. Neisseria gonorrhoeae can change both its phenotype and genotype, and it can produce
its own antigens, making it difficult for one antibiotic to target and destroy all types of the bacteria

How Is Hedda Gabler Morally Ambiguous Character
When a strong willed, honest, miserable Hedda comes in conflict with the strict and overbearing
customs of society in a situation in which her mental and physical boundaries are faced, the result
may be a the balance of a morally ambiguous character. In the play Hedda Gabler, the morally
ambiguous character is Hedda Gablerherself. Combining her brutal honesty and miserable and
controlling way of life with this protagonist was not something typical of this era. Hedda Gabler is
a pivotal morally ambiguous character. Henrik Ibesn wrote Hedda Gabler, Hedda Gabler can be
seen as both purely good and evil, she does do many other evil acts as well as nice acts. Hedda
Gabler s mannerisms and behavior classify her as an ambiguous character. Hedda Gabler cannot
be seen as purely good or purely evil. The protagonist was definitely purely evil in many ways.
The first way can be seen when Hedda burns the manuscript. While Hedda burns the manuscript
she is saying aloud that she is burning Lovborg child. This was Lovborg s whole life and Hedda
burned the manuscript. This showed Hedda s purely evil side. As she had no reason to burn the
manuscript in the first place. She just decided to burn it. Another action... Show more content on

Hedda Gabler expresses her feelings without care of who is around. The protagonist goes against
every traditional aspect that is respectable of this era. Hedda Gabler opens up doors for woman
to see at during the Victorian time period. Hedda s blunt and honest comments definitely add to
the character that she is. Also, the inability to hold her thoughts in. All three of these aspects
gives the reader a deeper inside of what life was like, and how miserable some woman may have
been. Hedda Gabler also gives the audience a reason to keep guessing. Henrik Ibsen uses the

The Minimum Pay For Labour Or Services
INTRODUCTION
According to the Concise Law Dictionary, wage means the giving of a security for the
performance of anything. The money paid for labour or services usually according to specified
interval of work.
Wages, in the widest sense, mean any economic compensation paid by the employer, under some
contract, to his workers for the services rendered by them. Wages, therefore, include family
allowance, relief pay, financial support and other benefits. But, in the narrower sense, wages are
the price paid for the services of labor in the process of production and include only the
performance wages. They are composed of two parts the basic wage and other allowances.
The basic wage is the remuneration which is paid or payable to an ... Show more content on

CONCEPT OF MINIMUM, LIVING AND FAIR WAGE AS DEFINDED BY THE COMMITTEE
ON FAIR WAGES, 1948
Based on the needs of the workers, the employer s capacity to pay and the prevailing general
economic conditions of the Country, the Committee on Fair Wages, 1948 and 15th Session of
Indian Labour Conference (held in July, 1952) have propounded certain methods of wage payment
like minimum wage, fair wage, living wage and need based minimum wage. While the first three
methods were described by the Committee on Fair Wages, 1948 which are as follows:
Minimum Wage:
A minimum wage is a compensation paid to the workers by the employer, irrespective of his
ability to pay, for the services rendered by them. The Committee on Fair Wages said that the
minimum wages should be such which is sufficient to cover the bare physical necessities of a
worker and his family. It must include some measures for education, medical facilities and other
amenities. Thus, a reasonable standard of living must be rendered to every

Deception Of Women In Richard III
A main aspect of Richard s, Duke of Gloucester, personality is his hatred of women, possibly due
to most woman within Richard III holding more knowledge than the men, in regards to Richard s
deceiving nature. The only woman who is outsmarted by Richard is Lady Anne.
Deception, as well as their relationship, is crucial to the overall plot. The character of Lady Anne
has crucial dramatic functions within the play because her character supports Richard s growing
reputation of manipulating and morally wrong motives. When she is seduced by Richard, it shows
his success at manipulation, which eventually does fail in the later acts of the play. After
successfully slaying Lady Anne s husband, King Henry, Richard is still able to gain her hand in
marriage using persuasive language. Through this act, Lady Anne becomes a blocking figure for
Richard because he has to conquer her, but he also has a pre existing disadvantage regarding the
situation: Lady Anne is aware that Richard just killed her husband. Whenever they interact with
each other, the use of formal language is present. Due to this, it has the capability to thoroughly
show the tension between them, as well as Lady Anne s attitude towards him. She tells him Thou
mayst be damned for that wicked deed! (1.2. 102) and then continues by telling Richard that And
thou unfit for any place but hell, (1.2. 106) which isn t only insulting but also portrays him as a
supernatural creature for the audience to picture, more

Importance of Intercultural Communication to Ist
Chapter 4 The Deep Structure of Culture
Introduction
Our interpretation of reality determines how we define the world and how we interact in that
world. We believe the source of how a culture views the world can be found in its deep structure. It
is this deep structure that unifies and makes each culture unique.
Meaning of the Deep Structure of Culture
Although many intercultural communication problems occur on the interpersonal level, most
serious confrontations and misunderstandings are as a result of cultural differences that go to the
basic core of what it means to be a member of one culture or another.
Cultural collisions are evident worldwide e.g. ethnic violence in Africa, clashes between Hindus
and Muslims in both India ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether it is the Eightfold Path, the Ten Commandments, or the Five Pillars of Islam, the messages
of these writings survive.
Each generation is given the wisdom, traditions and customs that make a culture unique. However,
one needs to be aware of the fact that often deep seated hatreds that turn one culture against another
also endure.
iii) Deep Structure Institutions and their Messages are Deeply Felt
The content generated by these institutions, and the institutions themselves, arouse deep and
emotional feelings. Think for a moment about the violent reactions that can be produced by taking
God s name in vain.
Countries and religious causes have been able to send young men to war, and politicians have
attempted to win elections by arousing people to the importance of God, country, and family.
Regardless of a person s culture, the deep structure of that culture is something people feel intensely
about.
iv) Deep Structure Institutions Supply Much of Our Identity
We are not born with an identity and of the most important responsibilities of any culture is to assist
its member in forming their identities. Through countless interactions we discover who we are. We
learn our identities through socialization. Charon.
Remember that socialization takes place in the family. As you come in contact with other people,
you begin to develop a variety of identities.

Ethical Issues Paper
Ethical issues are a significant area for companies doing business deals on a daily basis. In today s
high tech and the ultra competitive business world, unfortunately, ethical conduct is often ignored.
Many huge companies like Enron, Arthur Anderson, AIG, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, as well
as Bank of America, are crushed, or seriously damaged with the lack of ethicscompass in place.
Organization ethics is the guidelines and principles by which businesses operate; the principles and
values of each person in a businesswill have a direct influence on the company s success (Renshaw,
Kubat Angellotto, 2013, p. 11).
The ethical principles can be employed to address organizational issues regarding financial ethics,
business entities, confidentiality, and decision making. In which, the organizational ethics are

Why Genetic Engineering Is Morally Good Essay
Determining if genetic engineering is morally good is only half the battle with this ethical issue.
Regardless of whether morally good reasons are used to justify it, genetic engineering is an
attempt to use human intelligence in order to try to overthrow God s original creation or plan for
humans. Scientist are trying to perfect his creation or change it. God has laid out the way things
should happen naturally and humans are attempting to overthrow it. A key word to note is attempt
because Scotus would see genetic engineering as a failed attempt at playing God because he
believes that God is all powerful and it would be impossible for a humanto possess that same type
of power. In the article Freedom Beyond Practice Reason: Duns Scotus on Will Dependent
Relations the author Tobias Hoffmann discusses freedom of will according to Scotus.
Hoffmann explains that, for Scotus, the will is free to will any good either for its own sake
alone... or for the sake of something else. (Hoffmann 1077). God gave humans the freedom of
will which allows individuals to live a life they choice. This means an individual could choice a
life of virtue or a life of sin and God would not intentionally interfere in their life and force that
individual to choose God s preferred path of righteousness. God has given humans a choice, and
permits them to do what they want with their own lives. Likewise, God has given humans
intelligenceand what humans do with their intelligence is also up to them

Irish during the mid nineteenth century and how millions of Irish came to live in America (Purcell

to 1848, historians have pointed out that immigrating from Ireland was becoming more popular
before the famine and continued until the turn of the twentieth century. In the one hundred years

NONACCEPTANCE IN AMERICA The Catholic Church and politics were very important to the
Irish Americans. The church in Ireland had been a bulwark of strength against English oppression.
When the Irish suffered the same hostility as the British to their religious beliefs, the church in
America became a source of spiritual comfort. French and native born priests controlled the
American Catholic church when the Irish arrived in large numbers, but the Irish quickly moved
up, becoming priests, nuns, and archbishops and leaders in the church. Archbishop John Hughes
of New York in the 1840s was the first of many Irish leaders in the Catholic Church. Politics and
religion helped the Irish overcome the bitter poverty they faced in the mid 1800s. As of 1980, the
nearly 20 million Irish Americans were more likely than other immigrants to be professionals and

I believe the author of this article, Kenneth Chang did a mighty fine job. Mr. Chang presented
his information on the research that is being done at Carnegie institution of science quite well
he explained what a diamond anvil is and how it is built and shaped. He covered the experiment
which was the compression of silicon and sodium into a material that can absorb photons from
sunlight and also other experiments that were being conducted as in the compression of iron,
oxygen, and hydrogen and what they become after being compressed under high pressure by a
diamond anvil and a couple other things as well. But something I don t quite understand is, how
does the compression of materials for instance like silicon and sodium alter the formation of the
molecule, creating a different formation that allows the material do something that it wasn t able
to do before? How can you create a material that is consisting of silicon and sodium that actually
allows photons from sunlight in? To me that seems impossible. Because Silicon is a solid and a
metalloid and sodium in an alkali metal but knowing that sodium is a good conductor of energy; it
sort of makes sense why. But still to me it doesn t make sense how combining these two elements
could create a new structure that has the possibility to absorb sunlight. Within our general chemistry

When Irene Character Analysis
I believe that Claire was pushed out of the window at the end of the novel. This belief stems from
the buildup of resentment that Irene had felt toward Claire during the entirety of the story, but I
thought that in the final section this resentment began to go from simply not agreeing each other to
Irene feeling threatened by Claire.
Irene and Brian have what seems to be a marriage held together by children and when Irene begins
to suspect Claire is using her charms to win over Brian, Irene immediately starts to fear Brian
leaving her for Claire. This would rip apart the stability that Irene wants so desperately in her life
and she cannot allow that. We have watched Irene attempt to manipulate people throughout the
story, especially with Brian as exemplified by her not allowing Brian to leave his job for the sake of
the family. When Irene starts to imagine Claire taking away Brian, I think that it is not a stretch to
think that Irene would do whatever it takes to make sure that the situation could not possibly come
up.
Looking past Irene s desire for stability, I believe that her continuous jealousy towards Claire would
serve as proof for Irene pushing Claire out of the window. Irene describes Claire ... Show more

Irene begins to imagine the possibility of Brian and Claire having an affair and begins to spin a
web of negative emotions in her head until she breaks the cup she was holding in frustration. This
instance is critical as it shows us that Irene can be pushed to rash and violent action when she
thinks about Claire taking her husband away from her. While the argument can be made that
breaking a cup and pushing a person are two separate actions with the later being harder to carry
out, I think that Irene perpetually overthinks things to the point where she blocks out the outside

culture. Having a conversation with a well educated stoner will be seemingly less complex after

Alcohol Extraction: Stripping cannabis of its cannabinoids/trichomes oils using alcohol (either

CBD: Abbreviation for cannabidiol, the second most common cannabinoid other than THC that
creates a relaxing effect that causes the consumer to become stoned instead of high.
We got a high CBD strain to help with the pain in our back since work is really straining.
CBN: Abbreviation for cannabinol, the third common cannabinoid found in cannabis. It s known to
help the consumer sleep and is only mildly psychoactive.
This indica has more CBN than a normal strain, it knocked me out cold last night!
Carb Cap: When dabbing, the titanium/quartz/ceramic device that fits over a domeless nail,
allowing the consumer to inhale take a complete hit as it keeps the nail slightly cooled at a lower
temp. This in turn, creates a more flavorful dab.
I need the carb cap otherwise I ll cough my lungs out if I try to dab without it.

Essay about Fertility Treatments
Fertility Treatments
I. Introduction
It is assumed by most that we will all be able to grow up, fall in love, get married, and then have
children of our own. This is not the lifestyle that all people choose, but it is still the view accepted
by the majority of society. What happens when the unthinkable occurs and a happily married
couple is unable to get pregnant? This is a reality for 7.1%, or 2.8 million, of the married couples in
the United States (Lenox, 1999). Today, there are many people all over the world that decide to use
fertility treatments to help them conceive a child, and this often leads to the birth of twins, triplets,
or even higher order multiples. There are many risk factors that are involved in this type of ... Show

Another commonly used method of induction is the injection of follicle stimulating hormones, or
FSH. For this treatment, the patient is given FSH injections while being monitored by a physician.
The physician uses ultrasound to keep count of the number of mature eggs in the woman s ovaries.
When the physician decides that there are enough eggs, a second hormone injection is then given
that causes the release of the eggs from the ovaries. The final step is fertilization through sexual
intercourse or artificial insemination (ACOG, 2004).
There are risks associated with these types of ART. The use of any ovulation induction therapy
can cause a woman s ovary to swell up to 10 times its normal size (Cowley and Springen, 1997).
It is also possible for up to 40 eggs, as opposed to the normal one, to be released in one cycle
(Cowley and Springen, 1997). This results in a much higher risk for the conception of a multiple
fetus pregnancy. There is a 5% 10% chance of a multiple pregnancy with the use of clomiphene
(Jacobs, 2004). This is significantly higher than the 1% rate of occurrence of twins in unassisted
pregnancies (Dr. Joseph F. Smith Medical Library, 2003). In about 1 out of 5 pregnancies achieved
using FSH injection therapy the result is a multiple birth (Brown, 2001). In an attempt to avoid the
conception of these multiple fetus pregnancies, it is suggested that the physicians monitor the
number of eggs

The Importance Of Modern Human Progress
Firstly we have to define modern human progress, which is defined as the theory that advances in
technology, science, and social organization inevitably produce an improvement in the human
condition. 1 This means that people become happier in terms of quality of life, economic
development and lack of crime.
It is the culmination of modern technology and freeing yourself from the shackles of society s
previous social preconceptions.
With that said the Catholic church harbours some questionable ethical beliefs; contraception,
divorce, end of life care and their attitude to abortion.
They believe that life begins at conception so undergoing an abortion is a grave moral sin. They
argue that a zygote is not a potential person but a person with potential.
The Catholic church is the world s largest religious group united under one leader (the Pope) so
therefore it has tremendous influence over world politics. This means that when the pope says I
declare that direct abortion, that is, abortion willed as an end or as a means, always constitutes a
grave moral disorder, since it is the deliberate killing of an innocent human being 2 a lot of people
believe his orders and deny innocent women their right to choose.3
Mother Teresa was also a staunch opponent of abortion saying that If a mother can kill her own
child, what is left but for us to kill each other. 4 She has a tremendous amount of leverage in this
matter.
It can be argued that abortion is good for society as a whole as Steven Levitt found a strong link
between legalised abortion and the fall in crime rates in the late 1990s. This is because abortion
was legalised in 1973 in the USA and crime rates fell sharply 20 years later. This is down to the
fact that children more likely to cause trouble (from teenage, single parent households) simply
weren t being born as women in this group were having abortions instead.5
An abortion is a women s right as it benefits her mental well being as having an unwanted child
puts an undebatable amount of strain on a woman. It also affects her financial well being, as a
child can cost around $233,6106 which is a substantial amount of money for anyone. Especially for
teenage mothers who are the most likely group of

This has put pressure on those restaurant companies wishing to remain competitive whilst at the
same time grow. The need for a shift in strategies has emerged in reaction to the volatile
economic situation. Nando s has not been immune to this downturn and has had to tighten
operating margins in order to remain competitive. This has lead to slower growth rates than the
company initially anticipated. Certain pressures surrounding how and where Nando s sources its
poultry from has recently become a pressure for the organisation. Fair Trade, organic, and free
range concerns have resulted in some problems for Nando s in regards to its product standards.
This has caused the company to begin working with local authorities in some countries when
purchasing, transporting, and storing its poultry. This added pressure has caused Nando s to
rethink some of its values and strategies. The company s marketing tactics have also resulted in
external pressures for the company. Whilst often said to be edgy and attention grabbing, Nando s
adverts have often been found offensive by groups of individuals in certain countries. Due to this
reaction, several of the organisation s adverts have been redone to be more suitable for certain
markets. Vision and Values (Policies that affect people, internal factors) As stated above, Nando s is

Black Bears And The Black Bear
A typical West Michigan backyard has tendencies to be a visiting place from some of nature s
finest species. A raccoon, opossum, or even white tailed deer is very likely. A new likely
species? A black bear. The imagination of seeing one of the most potentially dangerous species
is actually becoming a reality in many locations all over the area. Many have reported aggressive
tendencies from the black bear population. Reports of attacks are emerging throughout the state.
Some experts say there is no trend of black bears migration to more southern areas of the state,
yet others have projected that Indiana and Illinois will have some sort of black bear population.
For the moment, it seems as if we won t have to prepare ourselves for black bears, but the future
may hold new residents to the southern counties of Michigan. Black bears are being spotted
almost everyday in territories that are somewhat surprising. The concern for other species are
now taking place, and questions are being asked about the risk of other local species. Is there a
trend of black bears migrating south? Each year there are seems to be more evidence that black
bears are on the move to the southern part of the state. Michigan Radio reports that this a trend
for the past 5 to 10 years for young male black bears to roam south (As spring begins, para. 5).
Even though there are growing numbers of sightings, many can conclude they won t be established
in West Michigan for quite some time. If a time comes to

Examples Of Pride In The Iliad
In his telling of The Iliad, Homer introduces us to one of the demigods, Akhilleus. Akhilleus was
born by the goddess, Thetis, daughter to Poseidon and to the human, Peleus. His position is as
commander of the entire Greek army. At the start of this war, between the Akhaians and the
Trojians, there was a falling out between him and the Greek king, Agamemnon. In short, he
ended up packing his bags and leaving the army without a commander. Pride was the cause of
this whole quarrel. This pride of his was the center of many improprieties during the war. A
feeling that you respect yourself and deserve to be respected by other people (definition of
pride) This first example may have occurred near the end of the book, but it is going to be used
first. Akhilleus pride was the direct cause for the need to withhold and torture Hektor s body after
he killed him. (The Iliad, 22.410 421, 24.14 27) This event caused him to act inhumanely, no
matter the reason. This action also prevented Hektor s family from having a proper funeral. Said
Akhilleus: Let it be so. Let someone bring the ransom and the dead away, if the Olympian
commands this in his wisdom. (24.63 66) Later he allowed Hektor s body to be taken away.... Show

Computer Crime Report CM0431
Introduction
In this computer crime report, the following will be discussed about the computer crime of Botnets.
This report will explain the role of computer forensics has in detecting and deterring the use of
botnets, the hardware and software used in forensically investigating botnets, the legal context of
using botnets such as legislation related to offences caused by using botnets, and the ethical and
professional challenges faced by computer forensics practitioners in investigating botnets.
A botnet is defined ( http://www.pcmag.com/encyclopedia/term/38866/botnet, 2014) as a
compromised group of computers, generally in large groups, that are used to generate spam (such
as phishing emails in large quantities), spread viruses to infect new machines, and flood a network
or web server using an enormous amount of request repeatedly and cause it to fail, this is known
as a distributed denial of service attack (DDOS).
The infected computers are normally infected by a Trojan horse virus, once infected the virus
usually opens an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel, this channel will wait for commands from the
user in command of the botnet network. In the modern world, there is large, and growing, industry
of selling lists of infected computers to hackers and spammers.
Rik Ferguson (2010) stated the first use of botnets came about in 1999, and the malware that started
it all off was known as Sub7 , a Trojan virus and Pretty Park , a computer worm.

Coping with Unexplained Fertility
If you and your partner have trouble conceiving for six months to a year, you might think you have
a fertility problem. Your next step is to go to a clinic and get tested for infertility symptoms. If
these tests result in no answers, you are diagnosed with unexplained infertility.
According to the Center for Human Reproduction, around 30% of women diagnosed with infertility
are thought to have unexplained infertility. The CHS believe this is a misleading faux diagnosis
that actually impedes patients from receiving appropriate infertility treatments. You and your

My Wife Is A Market Analyst For A Financial Firm
My wife is a market analyst for a financial firm in Southern California. She has described to me
what it is like on the trading floor when the market takes a significant dip, or even something as
bad as a crash, on more than a few occasions. Reports come in, numbers start tumbling, and for a
brief time everyone just stares at their computer screens trying to take in all the implications of
what those numbers mean, what can be done, and how bad the situation actually is. And,
obviously, some people lose their heads. There is cursing. There is a sense of doom and a

Sustainability Reporting Of The United States
Abstract
Sustainability reporting in the United States is still a work in progress. While more countries
around the world are requiring companies to report the effects of their business activities as part of
their annual report, this practice is still voluntary in the US. Even though sustainability reporting is
not required, companies generally disclose sustainable information on their websites or through
social media. Being social responsible builds a certain type of bond that brings internal and external
stakeholders together.
Many companies in the US have taken action and developed their corporate governance model that
will meet their needs as well as the needs of the people around them, thus creating a better
environment for shareholders and stakeholders. Currently, most companies that issue sustainability
reporting follow the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards guidelines. The GRI standards are
designed to achieve transparency, and it has become the most common set of standards used
amongst organizations for sustainability reporting.
This research paper was written with the purpose of providing some answers as to why
sustainability reporting in the United States should be mandated by regulators. The paper briefly
describes the GRI standards and guidelines, the benefits of sustainability reporting, some relative
advantages limitations in adopting sustainability reporting, as well as provides a few examples of
companies that have successfully adopted

The Effects Of Illegal Immigrants On The Us Economy
Illegal immigrants in the United States (US) have long been a topic of debate for policy makers
and the public. The rationale about them is that they do not pay taxes; they add to the costs of
taxpayers and use up funds in resources meant for assisting citizens and legal immigrants (the
legal citizens). Therefore, they are perceived as a threat to the US economy. The true impacts of
illegal immigrants on the US economy are discussed by debating over the economic benefits as
well as economic costs of these immigrants. The negative impacts, discussed first, presented the
decreases in low skilled jobs wage rates for legal immigrants and citizens instigated by illegal
immigrants, the social services such as educations and healthcare that they utilize and add to
taxpayers. Then contrary to the negative impacts, the positive impacts reveal benefits of low
production costs, increases in the local market sales, undocumented tax generation, impact on
growth and employment brought forth by illegal immigrants. These impacts, both negative and
positive, are independently analyzed and weighed against each other. The discussion does show a
slight net positive impact on the US economy in contrast to the normal belief about illegal
immigrants. Illegal Immigrants and the United States Economy: Is It that Big of an Issue? The

several difficult conversations happening all at once: conversations between Flint s residents and
government officials, between different government agencies, and among residents organizing

The unconscious interpretation of conflict is the underlying concept of the What Happened
Conversation. Most difficult conversations involve disagreement about what has happened or what
should happen (Stone, Patton, Sheila, 2010, p.7); this is based on the individual s perception of
what has happened. Loosely translated, this concept refers to Lewicki, Barry, Sander s analysis of
cognitive bias Ignoring Other s Cognitions theme. In the What Happened Conversation we focus on
our own perception and ignore other s cognitions, which allows negotiators to simplify their
thinking about otherwise complex processes; ... and causes a failure to recognize the contingent
nature of both sides behaviors and responses (Lewicki, Barry, Sanders, 2015, p. 156).
Interactions between people most often rely on truth assumptions that I am right. But the truth for
each person differs since it depends on the individual s interpretation of the situation. Therefore,
rightness is based not on the ultimate truth but on conflicting perceptions, interpretations, and
values (Stone et al., 2010). Perception and cognition is based on one s own beliefs, stereotyping,
and prejudices. All parties involved in the Flint water crisis are influenced by their belief system

The Health Of Health Care Insurance
The eating habits of people in the modern days have led to the increased health complications.
Most people are therefore turning to medical care through specialists such as nutritionists in order
to learn how to keep their bodies healthy. In addition due to the uncertainty of disease attack and its
severity, people have turned to health care insurance. Health care insurance is a medical plan that is
aimed at benefiting an insured person by covering the medical and surgical expenses (Enthoven,
2003).
The insured is the person who is covered by the policy and can be said to be the owner of the
health insurance policy. The provider on the other hand is the specific insurance service provider
and can fall in various categories such as: doctor, clinic, laboratory or pharmacy. Therefore, health
insurance policy in this modern days translates to any payment plans that is meant to cover
emergency procedures and which are mostly of a high cost. Health care insurance in some countries
is included in the employment benefit package as an employment incentive. This is mostly the case
in countries without universal healthcare covers, an example of such is the USA.
Consumers in a way deceive themselves by believing that this medical covers protect their own
health (Enthoven, 2003). The payment plan develops a mindset of total reliance on the medical
industry and medical services instead of focusing on their quality of life. In this view, a need arises

Describe Your Happy Place
Where is your happy place? I grew up on the mid north coast of NSW in a small town called
Valla Beach which was nestled between the bush and the beach. Because it was such a small
town in which most people knew each other, I was granted relative freedom to roam the native
environment and explore. I have very fond memories of riding my scooter up and down the
streets with my friends and neighbours, cantering through the bush in front of my house, making
up stories about my life if I had lived there and spending all day on the beach, crisping in the sun.
Being inside seemed like such a dull affair when you could be immersed in a different world, a
natural world. I feel as if these early life experiences led me to always have a special connection
with the natural environmentas it was the one true place that I could seek comfort and clarity my
happy place.
Across the road from my house was extensive bushland that stretched a few kilometres until it
was cut off by the highway. In many ways, it was my childhood playground. There was a small
dam in the bushland that I often took my dog to play fetch and cool off. There was a bush track
that winded up and down hills and ended in a small little clearing and there was also dirt bike
tracks that a local boy had made from scrap materials. When I was 12, a housing development
crew came to town and begun marking out the land to demolish to build new estates and within
weeks they were underway. They began draining the dam to make way

His departure was not a sign of cowardice. He was trying to prove a point to Agamemnon that his
taking Briseis, Achilles war prize, was dishonorable and insulting. The battle that they had fought in
which he had taken her captive had already proven his prowess as a warrior, and because he wanted
it known that he was the greatest of the Achaean warriors and they could not triumph without him.
Troy could not fall without the help of Achilles, as prophesied by Calchas.Achilles had to make a
tough decision prior to just letting them walk into their own deaths. Agamemnon demanded that
Achilles bride and war prize Briseis be given to him. Achilles believed that the demand was unjust
and resembled that of Paris kidnapping Helen. He was in the same position as Menelaos. The
argument between himself and Agamemnon was as righteous as war to Achilles. Even though
Agamemnon offered to return Briseis and other numerous gifts, Achilles stays angry. This does
indicate one of Achilles flaw: excessive pride. Agamemnon may have offered gifts, but none
amount to the public insult that Achilles had suffered. Achilles would rather have his pride restored
then have anything in the world. Agamemnon also has a history of given and taken back gifts
resulting in empty

Essay The Art Cowboy
Booze, cigarettes, sex, beer, curses, affairs, abuse, paint: All of those are factors in Jackson
Pollock s life, however, one stands out above all as the most important one, paint. America s
greatest painter, born in Cody, Wyoming on January 28, 1912, had a deeper connection to this
colorful, flowing liquid than anyone else in history. Blood did not run through his veins, but oil
and pigment, tar and sand did. He became something else while he painted. He became his
painting. No other painter in history had been able to do what Jackson Pollockdid. Jackson pushed
past any boundaries in the world of art. He created something new, and at the time no one had
been able to do that. Jackson Pollock shocked the world of art by introducing a new... Show more

It was after he moved to Long Island that he discovered what he was to be truly famous for, his
drip paintings. According to the Smithsonian Museum of Art, Pollock began working on the
ground, on a not stretched canvas, throwing and dripping raw materials such as sand, tar, and
paint on the canvas (2). This was of painting without subject matter is known as action painting
(2). Indicated by one source, he needed to view his painting from all angles and step around it
(National Gallery of Art 2). This is part of the technique and action painter uses to get into his or
her painting. He had developed the ability to become completely part of his painting (2). In the
film Pollock, when Krasner discovers Pollock s new way of painting she says, You ve done it
Pollock. You ve cracked it open. This is exactly what Jackson did, he cracked open the art world,
exposing new skin and breaking all the traditions. Rugoff indicates that Pollock, with strong
influence, had changed painting from a traditional compositional technique to something else,
making his paintings look more as sculptures (442). Along with the finished product, the method
Pollock used to paint was out of the ordinary. Pollock painted physically, in almost a performance
art technique (National Gallery of Art 2). His movements could not be repeated, however, the
artwork always came out how the artist wanted it to (2). Pollock says himself

Chaplain Jim Cosgrove s Poem Stronger Than Grief
Poetry Anthology
Due to the diversity of Australia, the definition of the true Australian identity has changed over
time. However, there are several main attributes that have been embedded into the modern
Australian identity, mate ship, courage, resilience and acceptance. The theme in this anthology is
war, this has been selected as Australia has been through several wars and, it is in these times where
the true Australian identity stands out. It was during several wars where Australia s national
identity was developed and several significant, everlasting attributes were formed, such as, mate
ship, acceptance, courage, resilience and a never giving up attitude. In addition to that as a result of
Australia s diversity and increase in multiculturalism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem is based on families throughout the war, making sense of their loved one s death.
While they are overcome with grief and sorrow, they have an overwhelming sense of appreciation
for what their loved one had achieved in fighting for the country. Chaplain Jim Cosgrove has
portrayed Australians as being very sacrificial, resilient, courageous, this can be seen through
several examples in the poem. In addition to that, throughout the poem it can be seen that the poet
believes mate ship is a fundamental aspect of the Australian identity. Their courage and belief are
even stronger than their grief that their sacrifice is for a worthy cause. This example, in lines 13
and 14, shows the poets views of Australians, that they are brave, courageous and sacrificial. This
is reflected in the Australian identity and supports Australia s dominant cultural values. Another
examples of this is in lines 23 24, In the history of their nation there are many generations whose
sacrifice has made our country free. An example of the poet displaying mate ship as being a
significant aspect of the Australian identity is in lines 17 18, They want to tell their mates to never
doubt or hesitate, to fight this fight against the reign of terror. The poet has used imagery
throughout the poem, to help the reader construct an image. Furthermore, Chaplain Jim Cosgrove
has set a somber and melancholy mood and tone through the choice of words that highlight the
sacrifices made by soldiers in the war. Thus, giving the poem more

The Rock Of Pop Rock
2000 s Due to pop music s popularity, rock experienced a diminished presence on the top 40
music chart by the end of the decade, though the genre still sold well. In the early 2000s, there
was an astounding resurgence of interest in pop rock. This began in the year 2000 with the
success of Blink 182 s song All the Small Things and Nine Days s song Absolutely (Story of a
Girl) , both of which peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Pop rock is a genre that mixes
catchy pop lyrics with rock based instrumentation. The characteristics of pop rock are: it appeals to
a general audience, rather than to a sub culture. The music reflects existing trends and is based on
dancing and uses dance orientated beats and rhythms. Pop rock songs... Show more content on

Hound Dog was the beginning of Elvis Presley s rock music career with songs such as jailhouse

dancing along with his upbeat loud songs. It is believed that the way Presley s songs reached out
to young listeners was the kick start needed to shape rock into what it became in the late 1950 s
onwards. THE BEATLES The Beatles music was the start of modern pop rock, as we know it
today. From infectious melodies of innocent love to introspective Middle Eastern influences,
psychedelic musings and talk of revolution The Beatles were the house band of the 1960s,
paralleling, and at times even spearheading, the turbulent decade. They received amazing
amounts of praise from people all over the world with one of the biggest fan bases seen in that
era. This changed the way people viewed musicians and allowed rock music to become even
more mainstream and popular. In the later years, The Beatles brought their music into the
psychedelic rock genre with hits such as I Am The Walrus and Tomorrow Never Knows . HOUND

MY FIRST QUESTION AND ANSWERS
5) Discuss the different types of traps and seals and the importance of timing . Give an example
related to the Middle East.
Trap can be defined as shield against oil and gas movement. In other words, the trap system had
been set up before the migration of oil and/or gas to this location. After coming across the trap, oil
and gas finished their journey under the ground if the trap is settled well. (I ignore some leakage
of them). By the way, trap could be just structure as barren or could be productive.
The highest point of the trap is the crest, or culmination. The lowest point at which hydrocarbons
may be contained in the trap is the spill point; this lies on a horizon contour, the spill plane. The
vertical distance from crest to spill plane is the closure of the trap. A trap may or may not be full
to the spill plane, a point of both local and regional significance. Note that in areas of monoclinal
dip the closure of a trap may not be the same as its structural relief. This situation is particularly
significant in hydrodynamic traps. The zone immediately beneath the petroleum is referred to as the
bottom water, and the zone of the reservoir laterally adjacent to the trap as the edge zone.
Gross pay is total thickness of the reservoir unit.Net pay is the fraction of the reservoir that has

Technology And Civil Practices Of The Middle Eastern...
War is defined by the Webster dictionary as a state of usually open and declared armed hostile
conflict between states or nations , this definition does not apply to the current war in Afghanistan.
This war has been one of the most controversial wars in United States history, with one of the
biggest issues being how Afghanistanis being effected since it is not a part of the war as much as
a platform where it is taking place. For all the confusion, destruction, and loss during a war there
is a bright side in the unification and advancement of both technology and civil practices. This war
has been no different in the fact that technology has advanced exponentially, and the world has
begun to truly understand the customs and practices of the Middle Eastern States. The
improvement of technology has allowed the building of better agricultural equipment, which has
in turn given rise to better agricultural practices. Another thing that has changed both with a
change in personnel and a change in policies is the government of Afghanistan. The main driving
force for the change being seen is by the young people of Afghanistan who want the culture to
evolve in a more global manor. When all of these changes are looked at as a whole instead of
individually there is a clear trends that shows the growing economy of Afghanistan increasing at
the highest rate in 100 years. This paper will explore all of the issues and outcomes stated above

Why Do People Have A Near Death Experience
Have you ever had a near death experience? Did you notice any changes in yourself or things
around you? Many people have noticed monumental changes after their near death experiences. No
matter the degree of danger, they still realized common things. A near death experience can
transform one s personal life and beliefs. Most people who have had near deathexperiences have
five things in common: changes in priority, time slows down, not realizing they made a choice with
their actions, and things turned unexpectedly dangerous quickly.
Many people who have experienced near death experiences have had a change in priorities such as
Tom Benecke, Patrick Daniels, and Scott Lear. Before Tom Benecke had his near death experience
,
his main priority was finishing his work instead of spending time with his wife. After he almost
fell from a ledge that was outside his window, he realized that he was putting things before his
wife and decided to stop working and go to the movies with his wife. Patrick Daniels changed ...

Drug Testing In Schools. The Topic Of Random Drug Testing
Drug Testing in Schools The topic of random drug testing has been a very controversial one,
especially in the last few years. RSDT (random student drug testing) made a rise in popularity after
being legalized by the United States Supreme Court in 2006. This ruling made testing students who
participate in extracurriculars or drive to school able to be tested for illegal drug abuse. This court
decision is like many others in the aspect that some strongly agree and others heavily disagree. One
side of opinions agrees with the court s ruling and believes that RSDT programs help prevent drug
abuse among the student population. Other people think that the programs infringe on the rights of
students and offer no usefulness in the fight against... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to note that if a student is caught with drugs in their system, rehabilitation and
restriction of extracurriculars are the repercussions. These people also argue that the tests are not
too expensive. Thirty dollars or less was the pre program cost; this data held true for 91 percent of
surveyors.
In contrast to the people who believe that drug testing is helpful and necessary in schools, others
have a sharp difference in opinions. These people think that random drug testing is not associated
with a change in the numbers of students who use drugs in any category ( Random Drug Testing
Cannot Prevent Student Drug Abuse ). Disbelievers in the programs believe that they violate
student rights and feed more money into the drug testing industry. It is also said that since the
testing can only target students who participate in extracurriculars, students can easily get around
the tests by simply not participating in those activities. Evidence of these accusations come from a
study out of The University of Michigan called Monitoring the Future. This study showed little to
no difference in drug abuse among students when comparing schools that participate in the RSDT
and have similar demographic backgrounds. Non supporters also think the programs are
ineffective. These ideas are backed up by The Office of Management and Budget, where they
deemed the programs ineffective in reducing youth drug use, violence, and crime. They also believe
that

The Questioning of God and the Loss of Faith in Religion...
Searching for the meaning of life, people constantly question religion. What is our purpose?
Why are we here? What is the meaning of our lives? In the third century BC people saw their
lives falling apart; they wanted a new meaning of religion. During this time the Temple was
destroyed, which will be explained further on. The destruction of a significant religious figure
such as the Temple causes people to question the purpose of religion, especially if it is going to fail
them. Ecclesiastes suggests the extent to which theological systems are not just abstract ways of
viewing the world; they answer the questions of life, responding to the issues real people face in
real life situations. Thus, to understand Ecclesiastes, we must... Show more content on

People began to realize that Ecclesiastes ideology truly was a logical explanation for the reason
why they were placed in their current situation. The people also took Ecclesiastes definition of
religion and applied it to their every day lives.
The meaning of life is difficult to explain considering the time period. Ecclesiastes argues that
wisdom cannot achieve its goal; that a remote God rules over a crooked world; and death did not
take virtue or vice into consideration (Anchor Bible Dictionary p.275). Hence, Ecclesiastes
advocated enjoyment as the wisest course of action during youth before the cares of advancing
years made that response impossible (Anchor Bible Dictionary p.275). Ecclesiastes discovers
that people s purpose in life as unknown. In life there is no final ultimate pronouncement, nothing
is achieved and similarly human desires are left unsatisfied (Oxford Annotated Bible p.842).
Ecclesiastes sees life as not changing and not being remembered. To achieve any sort of
meaning of life, one must be wise: for in much wisdom is much vexation (Eccl. 1:18), being
wise will create confusion to those who are not wise, leading towards understanding God s plan.
People who are knowledgeable will be able to comprehend God s divine meaning; that meaning
being to large to grasp by humans. However wisdom will not change one s fate in life. The
inevitable fate for all is the same. What happens to the fool will

Government insurance is divided into four different types Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and VA.
Medicare is government program that covers individuals 65 and older and disabled. Medicare is
single payer program paid only by the government (Ping Chua, 2006). Medicare is financed by
payroll tax, federal income tax and premiums from individuals enrolled in part C and D.
Medicaid is a government program designed for low income families whose income is 138% or
$16,000 annually per individual, and disabled. However, only the 32 states that chose to expand
Medicaid are providing Medicaid for their residents (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2015). Medicaid
is financed by both the federal and state. CHIP is a government program that was created to
cover children whose families don t qualify for Medicaid and are too poor to purchase private
health coverage on their own. CHIP was also designed to cover pregnant women (Ping Chua, 2006).
The federal and state government also finance the CHIP program. Lastly VA, which is Veteran s
Administration, is a federally administered program for veterans. The federal government through
payroll finances this type of government insurance (Ping Chua, 2006).

that finances U.S healthcare system is the private health insurance, and it consists of employer

Code Of Justice By Stephen Glass Summary
Stephen Glass has a degree in law from Georgetown University Law Center but he may never

California, both states have denied him admission to the Bar. Glass removed his application to
become licensed in New York and the California Supreme Court decided he lacked the good moral
character to be a lawyer. Lacking moralityin any profession is unacceptable because it proves one
cannot make proper ethical decisions. Glass was a great writer with a very vivid imagination, but
he was not a fiction writer he was a news media writer for a magazine that was nonfiction.

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (2001). These researchers argue that job embeddedness is a direct antecedent both of intent to quit and voluntary turnover. A number of studies have followed this research direction and found that job embeddedness explained significant incremental variance in turnover beyond that explained by job satisfaction and organizational commitment (e.g., Lee et al., 2004; Holtom and O Neill, 2004; Besich, 2005; Holtom and Inderrieden, 2006). However how job embeddedness is developed or what factors cause employees embedded in their jobs to keep them from leaving the organization still requires investigation. This study attempts to partly answer that question by testing whether job embeddedness is a mediator of the relationship between human resource practices and employees intention to quit. Research background and hypotheses Efforts to elucidate the causes of the intention to quit of employees have focused on individual level factors, such as personal preferences, and organizational level factors, such as human resource practices (Deutsch et al., 2000). Individual level explanations stress the differences among people, often by examining the process by which jobholders consider other employment possibilities (Lee and Mitchell, 1994; Deutsch et al., 2000). Individual level studies traditionally link employees interest in changing jobs to their level of job satisfaction (Brayfield and Crockett, 1955; Vroom, 1964; Price, 1977; Mobley et al., 1979). • 4. Vincent Van Gogh Research Papers Vincent Van Gogh was a post impressionist painter, born in the Netherlands on March 30, 1853. He died on July 29, 1890, in France at the age of 37. Sadly, Vincent was poor and virtually unknown his entire life. Currently his work is known for its beauty, emotion, and color, and although he tried many times never sold a single painting. Van Gogh struggled with mental illness, despite this, his work highly influenced 20th century art and still wildly popular today. Van Gogh s passion for art likely began as a child. His mother, Anna Cornelio Carbentus, was an emotional artist, with a love of nature, drawing and watercolors. As a child Van Gogh was a mildly sad child. At ag 15, his family was having financially issues, and was forced to leave school to work. He got a job working for his Uncle Cornelis, at and art dealership, Goupil Cie. Van Gogh, by this point, was already fluent in French, German, and English, and of course Dutch. In June of 1873, Van Gogh was transferred to the Groupil Gallery in London. When he did, he fell in love with the English culture. He enjoyed reading Charles Dickens and George Eliot, and visited art galleries whenever he could. He as well fell in love with his landlady s daughter, Eugenie Loyer, who he proposed to. When she turned him down he completely broke down, throwing away all his book... How Is Hedda Gabler Morally Ambiguous Character When a strong willed, honest, miserable Hedda comes in conflict with the strict and overbearing customs of society in a situation in which her mental and physical boundaries are faced, the result may be a the balance of a morally ambiguous character. In the play Hedda Gabler, the morally ambiguous character is Hedda Gablerherself. Combining her brutal honesty and miserable and controlling way of life with this protagonist was not something typical of this era. Hedda Gabler is a pivotal morally ambiguous character. Henrik Ibesn wrote Hedda Gabler, Hedda Gabler can be seen as both purely good and evil, she does do many other evil acts as well as nice acts. Hedda Gabler s mannerisms and behavior classify her as an ambiguous character. Hedda Gabler cannot be seen as purely good or purely evil. The protagonist was definitely purely evil in many ways. The first way can be seen when Hedda burns the manuscript. While Hedda burns the manuscript she is saying aloud that she is burning Lovborg child. This was Lovborg s whole life and Hedda burned the manuscript. This showed Hedda s purely evil side. As she had no reason to burn the manuscript in the first place. She just decided to burn it. Deception Of Women In Richard III A main aspect of Richard s, Duke of Gloucester, personality is his hatred of women, possibly due to most woman within Richard III holding more knowledge than the men, in regards to Richard s deceiving nature. The only woman who is outsmarted by Richard is Lady Anne. Deception, as well as their relationship, is crucial to the overall plot. The character of Lady Anne has crucial dramatic functions within the play because her character supports Richard s growing reputation of manipulating and morally wrong motives. When she is seduced by Richard, it shows his success at manipulation, which eventually does fail in the later acts of the play. After successfully slaying Lady Anne s husband, King Henry, Richard is still able to gain her hand in marriage using persuasive language. Through this act, Lady Anne becomes a blocking figure for Richard because he has to conquer her, but he also has a pre existing disadvantage regarding the situation: Lady Anne is aware that Richard just killed her husband. Whenever they interact with each other, the use of formal language is present. Importance of Intercultural Communication to Ist Chapter 4 The Deep Structure of Culture Introduction Our interpretation of reality determines how we define the world and how we interact in that world. We believe the source of how a culture views the world can be found in its deep structure. It is this deep structure that unifies and makes each culture unique. Meaning of the Deep Structure of Culture Although many intercultural communication problems occur on the interpersonal level, most serious confrontations and misunderstandings are as a result of cultural differences that go to the basic core of what it means to be a member of one culture or another. Think for a moment about the violent reactions that can be produced by taking God s name in vain. Countries and religious causes have been able to send young men to war, and politicians have attempted to win elections by arousing people to the importance of God, country, and family. Regardless of a person s culture, the deep structure of that culture is something people feel intensely about. iv) Deep Structure Institutions Supply Much of Our Identity We are not born with an identity and of the most important responsibilities of any culture is to assist its member in forming their identities. • 15. Why Genetic Engineering Is Morally Good Essay Determining if genetic engineering is morally good is only half the battle with this ethical issue. Regardless of whether morally good reasons are used to justify it, genetic engineering is an attempt to use human intelligence in order to try to overthrow God s original creation or plan for humans. Scientist are trying to perfect his creation or change it. God has laid out the way things should happen naturally and humans are attempting to overthrow it. A key word to note is attempt because Scotus would see genetic engineering as a failed attempt at playing God because he believes that God is all powerful and it would be impossible for a humanto possess that same type of power. In the article Freedom Beyond Practice Reason: Duns Scotus on Will Dependent Relations the author Tobias Hoffmann discusses freedom of will according to Scotus. Hoffmann explains that, for Scotus, the will is free to will any good either for its own sake alone... or for the sake of something else. (Hoffmann 1077). God gave humans the freedom of will which allows individuals to live a life they choice. This means an individual could choice a life of virtue or a life of sin and God would not intentionally interfere in their life and force that individual to choose God s preferred path of righteousness. This belief stems from the buildup of resentment that Irene had felt toward Claire during the entirety of the story, but I thought that in the final section this resentment began to go from simply not agreeing each other to Irene feeling threatened by Claire. Irene and Brian have what seems to be a marriage held together by children and when Irene begins to suspect Claire is using her charms to win over Brian, Irene immediately starts to fear Brian leaving her for Claire. This would rip apart the stability that Irene wants so desperately in her life and she cannot allow that. We have watched Irene attempt to manipulate people throughout the story, especially with Brian as exemplified by her not allowing Brian to leave his job for the sake of the family. When Irene starts to imagine Claire taking away Brian, I think that it is not a stretch to think that Irene would do whatever it takes to make sure that the situation could not possibly come up. Another commonly used method of induction is the injection of follicle stimulating hormones, or FSH. For this treatment, the patient is given FSH injections while being monitored by a physician. The physician uses ultrasound to keep count of the number of mature eggs in the woman s ovaries. When the physician decides that there are enough eggs, a second hormone injection is then given that causes the release of the eggs from the ovaries. The final step is fertilization through sexual intercourse or artificial insemination (ACOG, 2004). There are risks associated with these types of ART. The use of any ovulation induction therapy can cause a woman s ovary to swell up to 10 times its normal size (Cowley and Springen, 1997). It is also possible for up to 40 eggs, as opposed to the normal one, to be released in one cycle (Cowley and Springen, 1997). This results in a much higher risk for the conception of a multiple fetus pregnancy. There is a 5% 10% chance of a multiple pregnancy with the use of clomiphene (Jacobs, 2004). This is significantly higher than the 1% rate of occurrence of twins in unassisted pregnancies (Dr. Joseph F. Smith Medical Library, 2003). • 21. The Importance Of Modern Human Progress Firstly we have to define modern human progress, which is defined as the theory that advances in technology, science, and social organization inevitably produce an improvement in the human condition. 1 This means that people become happier in terms of quality of life, economic development and lack of crime. It is the culmination of modern technology and freeing yourself from the shackles of society s previous social preconceptions. With that said the Catholic church harbours some questionable ethical beliefs; contraception, divorce, end of life care and their attitude to abortion. They believe that life begins at conception so undergoing an abortion is a grave moral sin. They argue that a zygote is not a potential person but a person with potential. The Catholic church is the world s largest religious group united under one leader (the Pope) so therefore it has tremendous influence over world politics. This means that when the pope says I declare that direct abortion, that is, abortion willed as an end or as a means, always constitutes a grave moral disorder, since it is the deliberate killing of an innocent human being 2 a lot of people believe his orders and deny innocent women their right to choose.3 Mother Teresa was also a staunch opponent of abortion saying that If a mother can kill her own child, what is left but for us to kill each other. 4 She has a tremendous amount of leverage in this matter. It can be argued that abortion is good for society as a whole as Steven Levitt found a strong link between legalised abortion and the fall in crime rates in the late 1990s. This is because abortion was legalised in 1973 in the USA and crime rates fell sharply 20 years later. This is down to the fact that children more likely to cause trouble (from teenage, single parent households) simply weren t being born as women in this group were having abortions instead.5 An abortion is a women s right as it benefits her mental well being as having an unwanted child puts an undebatable amount of strain on a woman. While more countries around the world are requiring companies to report the effects of their business activities as part of their annual report, this practice is still voluntary in the US. Even though sustainability reporting is not required, companies generally disclose sustainable information on their websites or through social media. Being social responsible builds a certain type of bond that brings internal and external stakeholders together. Many companies in the US have taken action and developed their corporate governance model that will meet their needs as well as the needs of the people around them, thus creating a better environment for shareholders and stakeholders. Currently, most companies that issue sustainability reporting follow the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards guidelines. The GRI standards are designed to achieve transparency, and it has become the most common set of standards used amongst organizations for sustainability reporting. This research paper was written with the purpose of providing some answers as to why sustainability reporting in the United States should be mandated by regulators. • 34. The Effects Of Illegal Immigrants On The Us Economy Illegal immigrants in the United States (US) have long been a topic of debate for policy makers and the public. The rationale about them is that they do not pay taxes; they add to the costs of taxpayers and use up funds in resources meant for assisting citizens and legal immigrants (the legal citizens). Therefore, they are perceived as a threat to the US economy. The true impacts of illegal immigrants on the US economy are discussed by debating over the economic benefits as well as economic costs of these immigrants. The negative impacts, discussed first, presented the decreases in low skilled jobs wage rates for legal immigrants and citizens instigated by illegal immigrants, the social services such as educations and healthcare that they utilize and add to taxpayers. Then contrary to the negative impacts, the positive impacts reveal benefits of low production costs, increases in the local market sales, undocumented tax generation, impact on growth and employment brought forth by illegal immigrants. These impacts, both negative and positive, are independently analyzed and weighed against each other. The discussion does show a slight net positive impact on the US economy in contrast to the normal belief about illegal immigrants. In other words, the trap system had been set up before the migration of oil and/or gas to this location. After coming across the trap, oil and gas finished their journey under the ground if the trap is settled well. (I ignore some leakage of them). By the way, trap could be just structure as barren or could be productive. The highest point of the trap is the crest, or culmination. The lowest point at which hydrocarbons may be contained in the trap is the spill point; this lies on a horizon contour, the spill plane. The vertical distance from crest to spill plane is the closure of the trap. A trap may or may not be full to the spill plane, a point of both local and regional significance. Note that in areas of monoclinal dip the closure of a trap may not be the same as its structural relief. This situation is particularly significant in hydrodynamic traps.
