Comparing The Consolidated Statement Of Earning Or

The consolidated Statement of Earning or income statement, tells the user about the
sales and expensed applied by the Home Deport during the fiscal year. An analysis
of income statements shows a company with strong sales figures and the worth of
up to $71 billion sales per year. Nevertheless, the one thing that is very noticeable is
the substantial drop in sales from to Fiscal 2008 compared to previous years. Home
DepotВґs net sales in Fiscal have dropped from 25,997 to 23,990 (in the millions). In
addition to the drop in sales, Home Depot had reported higher expenses throughout
Fiscal 2008. The statements provides through information that is very helpful
throughout the decision making process of the company. For example, upper
management may determine that a struggling economy is the possible cause of the
decrease in sales and it may not be the best time to introduce any new projects. Also,
the company may decide to increase their credit programs for consumers with the
intention to increase sales. In general, the company is strong, however the drop in
sales and net earnings cannot warrant some cautions until the economy shows signs
of improvement and the sales and net earnings continue to drop. The drop in sales
and net earnings shows that even the strong companies are affected when the
economy is not doing so well.
The balance sheet is one of the major and critical financial statements that show the
financial position of the company. The balance sheets tell the user of the
Adventure Based Learning For Teaching
Adventure Based Learning Active Teaching Method Used In Teaching Subjects in
Tourism In the article Adventure Based Learning Active Teaching Method Used In
Teaching Subjects in Tourism, the authors briefly defined adventure learning and the
integrated teaching approach. Stefan, Orboi, Banes, and Martin (2015) mentioned
that adventure learningcalled for an active and interactive or collective cooperation of
students in teaching; it also encouraged teamwork and competition amid students; (p.
143). Additionally, they revealed that integrated teaching encompassed a definitive
technique of formulating and planning which generated connections between what
students learned and life happenings (Stefan, Orboi, Banes, and Martin, 2015, p.143).
According to the authors, teachers offered students the chance to express themselves
freely and creatively, creating a stimulating environment and diversified their
personality development when operating in integrated teaching (Stefan, Orboi, Banes,
and Martin, 2015, p.143). The concentration of the integrated method was to cultivate
preparatory skills, transferable transverse principles beneficial for communal, and the
individual advancement of students. These methods were conducted with the
intention of examining not only individuals but also combined collection of groups
on paramount local and global public issues to learn and develop: personal, social,
cognitive, and cultural abilities (Stefan, Orboi, Banes and Martin, 2015, p. 143).
All Souls Day Research Paper
The traditional Roman calendar included a none day feast of the ancestors, known as
the Parentalia, that started on the 13th of February and concluded on the 22nd.
February 22 was devoted to the celebration of a festival in memory of the dead of
each family, and the Church of Rome adopted this date to serve the same function
(All Souls Day on November 2nd was introduced to the Christian liturgical calendar at
the beginning of the eleventh century). In the Roman Empire, the cult of the dead was
a family cult. Relatives and friends would gather at the tomb and share a symbolic
meal with the deceased. Christians, whose tombs were among non Christian ones,
often those of parents and friends, did the same. They also gathered together to

Separation of Liquids by Simple Distillation and Analysis by Gas Chromatography
Methods/Background:
The purpose of this experiment was to separate two volatile components from a
mixture due to the different chemical properties of each compound. The mixture used
in this experiment was ethyl acetate (EtOAc) and butyl acetate (BuOAc). The mixture
containing two liquids will be separated by a separation procedure known as
distillation. This method relies on each compound having a distinct and separate
boiling point. In order to see if two liquids were separated, the pure liquids will be
analyzed with gas chromatography to determine the success of the distillation.
Ethyl acetate
Melting Point: 88.12 g/mol

This was done by using common lab method known as simple distillation, which is
used to separate a volatile liquid from a non volatile liquid, and also to separate
two liquids that have boiling point differences of above 50 oC. The boiling point
of any liquid is obtained when the total pressure above the liquid is equal to the
atmospheric pressure. Other objective of this experiment was to learn how to use
the Gas Chromatography to check whether the two components in a mixture
successfully separated. The results of the calculated GC percent composition
indicate that the two components were not successfully separated by simple
distillation, but it was very close to the calculated percentage composition. This
may be because the boiling points of the ethyl acetate (77.1 oC) and butyl acetate
(126 oC) are not that far apart, and simple distillation shows positive results if the
two liquids boiling points differ by greater than 50 oC. The second reason could
be that enough fractions were not used. There were higher chances of separating
two components fully if more fractions were used. As indicated in data tables 1 and
3, approximately 91% of ethyl acetate and about 99% of butyl acetate composition
indicates that the distillation was quiet an efficient and successful. The butyl
acetate has a very high boiling point and longer retention time because of its more
Van der Waals interactions. However, the ethyl acetate has a lower boiling point
and a faster retention time in the GC because of its weaker bond interactions.
Therefore as indicated in the data table 1, 2, and 3, ethyl acetate has a higher affinity
for the mobile phase in the gas chromatograph and it moves faster. Moreover, only 28
mL of mixture was collected in the distillation process rather than 30 mL. This may
be due to the higher temperature the mixture
Homosexual Critical Thinking
Finding the bad example of critical thinking was a lot quite easy as anticipated,
there s a lot of dumb stuff on the internet. The article i happened to stumble upon
was published on a website called emaso.com the artical was called Pedophilia

culture it was based on a paper called Child Molestation and the Homosexual
Movement by Steve Baldwin in this paper he talks about the pedopillia being more
common in the gaycommunity. This article is bad information because it s
completely based on bias not facts. There was no studies or actual proof to support
his claim he was just stating his opinion and ideas. The idea that there s some kind of
connection between homosexuals... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We make assumptions about things all the time, and it s not in our nature to take a
step back for a moment and assess what s really going on. Like we learned in class
critical thinking does not come natural for us. So it s our job to make sure our
thinking does not completely run on stereotypes and bias. When I was reading
these articles this kind of resonated with me because I was raised muslim, and in
islam the practice of being gay is not allowed. Of Course people who are gay are
born that way but the sin is following through with your temptations and sleeping
with another man/women. Im sure this is the case with other religions, but the
people who follow these religions inert their own ideas and bias. They want to
deny the fact that people can be born gay, even though it doesn t say in the quran
that people can t be born gay. So they make up fake stories and write fake articles to
get people to follow their points. If we use our critical thinking we would never fall
victim to crazy stories people make on the internet. Of course we re only human so
being rational is out the box, we only want to read something we agree
Comparing Two Gospels Essay
Gospels are narratives of the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. There are many
gospels but only four were included in the Christian cannon: Matthew, Mark, Luke,
and John. The canonical gospels have many similarities and differences. There are
many different theories as to why these differences exist beginning with the
observations of Clement, Augustine, and Papias three fathers of the church.
Clement of Alexandria was said to have held a traditional view that Matthew and
Luke, the gospels with genealogies, were written first. Augustine of Hippo believed
that the gospels were written in what is now their canonical order and that each
writer relied upon the work of the previous author. Thus, John derived from Luke
who derived from Mark who derived from Matthew. Papias thought that Mark used
Peter as a source for much of his gospel. In the late 18th century, church scholars
began to challenge the long held views that the gospels were written before any of the
other New Testament writings... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only evidence for them is the similarities between the texts that are said to
have drawn from them. A more recent theory, put forth by Austin Farrer in a 1955
essay entitled On Dispensing with Q , examines what can be referred to as a
Markan priority non Q hypothesis. It dismisses the idea of hypothetical source
gospels in favor of relying solely on available texts. In his argument, Farrer states
that Q is weak because it is a hypothesis and can be dismissed simply by providing a
competing hypothesis. Farrer approaches the problem in a manner similar to that of
Franciscan philosopher William of Occam. Given the two hypothesizes, that a
hypothetical gospel Q existed or that the author of Luke used both Matthew and Mark
as sources, Farrer finds the latter to have fewer assumptions. Instead, Farrer suggests
that the shared content between Matthew and Luke exists because Luke used both
Mark and Matthew as sources.
Low Methane Production
The methane production rates of this experiment present similar results with the
previous experiment with Ni. Methane produced was depending on the substrate
used. Methanol, which is slowly consumed in the cultures, results in a steady increase
in methane production (Figure 12). On the contrary, acetate, that was consumed
rapidly, made a quick increase in methaneproduction on early days of incubation
(Figure 13). Also, on cultures using H2, there was also a lag phase before methane
was produced significantly (Figure 14. A).
However, total methane produced in this experiment was lower than the in the
previous experiment. Maximum methane production on cultures were only 5.5, 20,
and 16 mmol/medium on methanol, acetate, and H2 respectively. The initial
concentrations of the substrates were similar with the previous experiment. Negative
control also gave similar methane production with previous experiment (Figure 14.
B). Uptake of Co by other microorganisms other than methanogens is possible to
happen in the cultures, decreasing the available Co for methanogens. On the other
hand, if the presence of Co can favor the growth of other groups of microorganism,
competition for common substrates can be also affected. It was also possible that the
cultures require Co instead of Ni for their metabolism. ... Show more content on

When methanol was used as a substrate, methane was produced faster than the control
at all concentration tested. Concentration of CoCl2 at 10 ВµM gave maximum
methane production (max. 71% increase). On the contrary, at 10 ВµM of CoCl2 in
cultures that utilize acetate gave lower methane production than control. The highest
methane production in the cultures using acetate reached when 5 ВµM of CoCl2
was added (max. 16% increase). Finally, Co addition had no effect on methane
production if H2 was used as a
Children Of Men Influence On Society
Many films that have won top film awards from the Academy of Motion Pictures,
but not all hold up against the test of time. For instance, The Departed won best
film for 2006, but it has an incredibly flawed screenplay and hammy performances
from some of its lead actors, Jack Nicholson in particular. Arguably, 2006 s Children
of Men is a much more significant and better film, despite being more of a cult hit. It
was the film I selected as a 21st Century classic, until I watched Spotlight. 2015 s

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Essay
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia is a well known autosomal recessive disorder and
the vast majority, approximately 95%, of cases are due to a deficiency of 21 alpha
hydroxylase. The other common type of CAH is caused by a deficiency of 11 beta
hydroxylase. In both types of the disorder, the adrenal gland is unable to produce
sufficient amounts of cortisoland aldosterone. CAH is estimated to manifest in 1 of
every 15,000 live births. In the United States, the prevalence of the disorder is lower
in African American children in comparison to Caucasians. Moreover, the decreased
synthesis of cortisol results in diminished negative feedback of adrenocorticotropic
hormone(ATCH) and over secretion of ACTH. This pathological increase of ACTH
in an attempt to increase serum cortisol levels is prevented because of the lack of
appropriate enzymes and actually results in increased androgen... Show more content

of hyperpigmentation of the scrotum or a large phallus. It is recommended that
surgery on females with ambiguous genitalia has the most positive outcomes

pubertal development and short stature as adults. Additionally, fertility rates in
women with classic 21 alpha hydroxylase CAH are low, while most males with the
disorder are fertile as adults with a minority exhibiting evidence of Leydig cell
failure and impaired spermatogenesis. In patients with classic 21 alpha hydroxylase
CAH there is an elevated serum 17 hydroxyprogesterone concentration of higher than
1200 ng/dL. In fact, most of the neonates found with the disorder have serum
concentrations of 17 hydroxyprogesterone that exceed 3500
The Importance of Counseling Essay example
A successful leaders use praise effectively. Identifying shortcomings and then
telling soldiers what must be improved are a leader s responsibility. Praising
soldiers for their improvement and proper performance is even more important. To
have a soldier to continue on the right step you need and will have to give them a
positive counsel more often than what you probably want to. A sincere and honest
praise lets soldiers know that their leader appreciates their efforts. Praising
subordinates is a simple act that takes little time but will provide many benefits.

Leaders owe their soldiers the best possible road map to success. Leaders help their
soldiers solve complex problems by guiding them to workable solutions through
effective counseling. Developmental counseling is subordinate centered
communication that outlines actions necessary for soldiers to achieve individual
and organizational goals and objectives. It is vital to the Army s future that all
leaders conduct professional growth counseling with their soldiers to develop the
leaders of tomorrow. Leaders counsel their subordinate NCOs and junior enlisted
soldiers. There may be situations where officers counsel junior enlisted soldiers.
The point is this: every leader has an obligation to develop their subordinates
through developmental counseling. The Army values play a very important role.
Simply put the values of loyalty, duty and selfless service require leaders to
counsel their soldiers. The values of honor, integrity and personal courage require
both leaders and soldiers to give straightforward feedback and, if possible, goal
oriented tasks or solutions. The Army value of respect requires us all to find the best
way to communicate that feedback and goals. Some soldiers may perceive counseling
as an adverse action, perhaps because that is their experience. Developmental
counseling most definitely is not supposed to be an adverse action. Regular
developmental counseling is the Army s most important tool for developing future

Essay on The Black Death
The Black Death was an extensive epidemic that spread across Europe from 1346
to 1353, killing over an estimated one third of Europe s entire population (Medieval
World 56). Although historians are not entirely sure of its origin, the Black Death
spread quickly across both Europe and Asia with a death toll that augmented rapidly.
The plague also had unusual and deadly symptoms, causing panic everywhere, with
men and women knowing no way to stop death except to flee from it (Kohn 28). The
chaos created by the malevolent force of the Black Deathimpacted the society of
Europe as a whole. Despite the extent of the Black Death, we know surprisingly little

The bubonic plague was the main contender of the Black Death (Byrne 15 16)
which was primarily spread through the bacteria Yersinia pestis found in the
stomach (Corbishley 47) of the Xenopsylla cheopis, a common flea (Byrne 197).
The flea would then feed on a host s blood, and regurgitate the bacteria into the
host, causing the victim to become infected the bubonic plague (Nox). The Rattus
rattus, or black rat, is considered to have helped the spread of the Black Death by
carrying the fleas that carried the bacteria causing bubonic plague (Byrne 196).
Upon infection of the bubonic plague, a variety of symptoms appeared quite
quickly. During the first few days, victims would develop a headache, chills, a
fever, weakness, an increased pulse, and a white tongue. As the disease progressed,
red and black spots, also called gangrene, appeared due to the body s tissue dying,
and buboes, swollen lymph nodes filled with blood, puss, and bacteria, appeared on
the victim s groin, neck, and arm pits (Zahler 26 27). As the plague progressed, the
bacteria began running rampant throughout the victim s body, eventually developing
pneumonic plague, a plague within the lungs (Cartwright and Biddiss 30). The
symptoms of pneumonic plague mirror the symptoms of en exceptionally virulent

Later with the invention of print capitalism people could think about themselves and
relate themselves to others. Book sellers were concerned with selling the largest
profit which meant reaching the largest consumer basis. The Latin speaking
population represented a small consumer basis and so book producers began to
print books in common languages which created a large new reading population.
The fall of Latin was assisted by a change in the character of Latin itself, the impact
of the Reformation, and the slow, geographically uneven spread of particular
vernaculars as instruments of administrative centralization. The rise of new imagined
communities was assisted by capitalism, print (technology), and the fatality of
human linguistic diversity. Print languages created unified fields of exchange, gave
a new fixity to language, and created new languages of power. Frantz Fanon The

colonial situation. The colonial world is divided in two, with the colonized subject

their own for specific items such as laptops, Ipads, and other expensive items that
are very limited in the quantity a store even receives. The insanity of the

some stores even announce specials that are only advertised in the store during the

Factors That Contribute To The Downfall Of Macbeth
With every character, real or imaginary, there are both strengths and flaws that
somehow coexist despite constantly being at odds. In the play, Macbeth by William
Shakespeare, we saw an overwhelming proof of the protagonist s, Macbeth s,
strengths at the beginning of the play with the most prominent being his ambition.
However, as the story unfolded and gradually grew darker, the purpose behind his
ambition slowly evolved from one of reasonable desire into one of caustic greed. In
the end, it is this very greed that ended up being his hamartia, inciting murder and
blinding his judgements before ultimately leading him to his downfall.
Although there were multiple factors that contributed to Macbeth s many crimes
leading up to his downfall, the ultimate reason that had pushed him to commit murder
was his own, inherent greed. After witnessing one of the witches prophecies come
true in front of his very eyes, Macbeth had immediately taken it upon himself to rid
of the only obstacle between him and the last prophecy, Duncan. While it is true that
his own, rather devilish wife, had some part in planting the murderous intent into
Macbeth s head, it is revealed later that her words had minimal effect as proved when

It is widely held that the United States should give money to aid third world countries
living in poverty because helping the less fortunate is a strong value in American
culture. The U.S. has an interest in helping third world countries escape poverty and
elevating them so they may contribute to the growing world state. Therefore,
America believes that sending a big fat check to the governments of these
impoverished nations is the best way to help. However, all this gifted money does is
create increased third world poverty by feeding corrupt governments and diminishing
economic growth. This argument has been in the back of a lot of American s mind
for a while now, and people normally want one of three things. They want to decrease
foreign aid, or they want to keep foreign aid the exact same, or they want to spend the
same amount of money but distribute it different ways. The last viewpoint is what I
want to focus on. Foreign aid needs to be changed into a more productive way for
these developing countries to get out of poverty without corrupting their government
or hurting their economic growth. Government issued foreign aid first started after
the end of World War II when Secretary of State George Marshall sent money to
European countries in order to help them rebuild. This assistance helped to strengthen
European economies and also stabilize their countries. Then in 1961, President
Kennedy signed the Foreign Assistance
Emerging Adult Development
Theoretical Concepts for Emerging Adult Development Transitioning to adulthood
is considered a period of life when young people are faced with trials of becoming
part of the adult world. For some young people, this is a time to grow, an opportunity
to spread their wings, and navigate through an exciting life. However, for others, the
burdens that accompany the task of growing up may be overpowering. Some may
find themselves at odds and feel overwhelmed while pursuing their goals, although
motivated to do so. Also, they may lack the resources or find themselves
underprepared to meet the challenges that accompany those goals. Important
questions come to mind when I think about young adults within today s society: why

The Importance Of Designing A Website
Today it is absolutely necessary for any business that wants to be successful to have
a website. Today s consumers expect businesses to have an effective site, and they
typically will go online for information before opening the Yellow Pages or driving to
the store.
However, even though businesses truly need a good website, it is common for
business owners to be uncomfortable with the process of hiring a designer. Most of
the time this occurs because it is something that the business owner is not familiar
with and it is just a little bit outside of their comfort zone. While the whole situation
and process can at times be intimidating, hiring the right designer and getting a great
website shouldn t be something that you are avoiding.

Some of them may be very talented and may work extra hard to do a good job for
you. You ll need to consider the specifics of your project and find someone that you
think you can rely on to get it done. Use this as one factor in your decision, but don t
make it the only factor.
2. The Designer s Portfolio
One thing you will definitely want to evaluate is the work that is in the designer s
portfolio. The quality of their other projects should give you an idea of the quality
of work that they are capable of and that you would receive. If items in the portfolio
do not live up to your quality expectations there is little reason to believe that you
would be happy with the work if you were to hire the designer.
Also, it s a good idea to ask the designer if he or she has worked on any projects
similar to yours in the past. For example, if you are having an e commerce website
built it may be difficult to make an accurate assessment of the designer s abilities if
the portfolio does not include any e commerce sites.
Comparing items this way will help to base your decision on how your own project
will turnout, not based on one amazing item from their portfolio that has nothing in
common with your project.
3. Cost
The fees of the designer typically take the number one spot for most business owners
that are choosing a designer. Looking at the costs is necessary, but basing the decision

When I first read the title and the objectives of this chapter, I expected to study about
the first step of counseling. I am actually surprised that it was actually beyond than
just the counseling session. The chapter mostly analyzing us as the counselor and us
as self first.
I have taken a communication and education skills for dietetic professional in the

Some of the objective learnings from this chapter that really interest me are

And I found out that taste preference and culture background are the factors which
influence me the most (Pg. 3 4). These factors are important to study, so it would be
easier by the time we have to make the nutrition intervention. We can adjust the
intervention based on the factors which influence them the most. So clients still can
be comfortable, even when they have to change their diets.
Knowing the characteristics of effective nutrition counselors are valuable for me.
And I believe that I have many of the qualifications. One thing that is really
interesting about the characteristics is to have a sense of humor. I was a little
surprise, but agree. Besides being professional at work, as a counselor we are human
too. Humor helps to enrich the relationship with clients and helping them not to
focusing their problems too seriously (Pg.6).
The chapters suggest that we as counselors have to be able to understand our self
first, that we have to be OK if we would like to help others in need. Then it came to a
perspective that many counselors sometime forget that it is the client s needs which
need to be fulfill, not them. This situation leads to dictatorial situation where the
counselor show too much power and influence over the clients problems and decision
and forgot to be open and actually listen to the clients

1. Communication
Buchanan and Huczynski (2010) note that many managers do not pay attention to
communication when implementing change, which may increase employee
absenteeism, turnover and low productivity. Furthermore, some of the reasons for
employees increased expectation during the change process are availability of
information through the internet as well as employees anticipation to contribute
ideas and be kept informed. If these expectations are met, employees feel valued and
therefore are more likely to be committed to the company and perform better at their
work.
Aramanda wanted to be supportive of a certain degree of open communication
culture, which was manifested by a requirement for the employees to nominate their
colleagues for newly created job posts. This approach was also constructed to
represent Aramanda s interests and to manipulate employee attitudes and behaviours.
The nomination process aimed to take advantage of knowledge in the network or
informal skills that perhaps could have been difficult to be evaluated by an outsider.
The outcome however proved to be different than anticipated, as it created a negative
feeling amongst the employees. Furthermore, one of the reasons for hiring
consultants in the first place was to take advantage of their impartiality and
independence from office politics.
Insufficient communication was also evident in Phase
Money Plays An Important Factor
Money plays an important factor in schools decisions for cutting or reducing fine
arts. Cutting fine arts saves money that could be used on academically stimulating
programs and bettering Core subject areas. An Arizona newspaper reported that a
school district was able to save one and a half million dollars when they completely
cut their fine arts program (Faller). Fine arts takes up a large portion of schools
budgets, and schools who cut it in its entirety would be able to save that money and
set it aside for academic programs with more measurable results. Alternatively,
schools also reduce their fine arts programs and make it more of an extracurricular
activity. This continues the schools involvement and sponsorship for the arts, but...

Educators, administrators, and the public might also argue to increase fine arts
funding, but only to the schools who are struggling to meet Core standards, as well
as other educational requirements. In school facilities where there are large
demographics of Hispanics and African Americans, students are less likely to have
the opportunity to take art classes (Holcomb). Since these students won t receive as
equal of an education as their peers, then something needs to intervene and equalize
their opportunities with those who have access to these programs. Historically
speaking, schools with high concentrations of minorities have generally had limited
access to fine arts classes (Holcomb). This has been an ongoing problem, and an
increase of funding to these schools may be the solution to the problem. According to
a study in Social Science Quarterly , socioeconomic and ethnicity are factors in music
participation in children; whites and Asians from higher socioeconomic backgrounds
are more likely to play an instrument than African Americans or Hispanics (Holcomb).
Increasing the funding for struggling schools may seem like one of the best
solutions, but what happens to the schools with established and succeeding arts
programs? Do they receive an increase of funding too? Chances are no, because these
schools will statistically have higher standardized test scores than the struggling
schools.
Summary Of Mother To Son By Langston Hughes
In his short free verse poem Mother to Son, Langston Hughes writes about how his
mother explained to him how life is. Life is hard, but you have to keep on trying
and never give up even with all the obstacles. He writes about the hardships and
racism they endure during that time. Through the first 7 lines Hughes writes about
how his mother told him that life is no crystal stair and that there are splinters and
other hardships. In the first line he says Well, son, I ll tell you which gives us an
idea of where this is going. The mother is going to give some kind of advice. After
that life is being compared to stairs, and life isn t perfect like crystal stairs. Life has
a lot of problems and things that go wrong. That s where the splinter, tacks, and
torn up boards come in. Since life isn t perfect like these stairs; life has splinters
and tacks as well. Those are the problems and obstacles that occur in life, and in
this poem it s the hardships and racism. Places with no carpet on the floor refers to
other hardships they ve dealt with and there s no one there to help them out. In
lines 8 13 the mother refers to the things she s had to do to get through. All the time
she has been trying so hard to do right and survive. She s been climbing, reaching,
and turning corners. She s been reaching and climbing to make sure her son doesn t
have to experience the same life as her. She s been struggling. In the light and the
dark she s endured many hardships. Some being worse

The Tyger Comparison
In William Blake s poems The Lamb and The Tyger, there aren t that many
similarities, but there are a lot of differences. Blake s poems are similar in that he
is asking who made each creature. When I read The Lamb I could hear the
reverence and awe in his voice when he asked the lambwho created it, and I could
hear it again when he told the lamb that Godmade it. However, when he asked the
tygerwho created it, I could hear fear and hatred in his voice. He didn t speak of the
tyger in the same voice he did as the lamb.
In The Lamb he said, Little Lamb, who made thee?/dost thou know who made
thee? (p. 120, 1 2). Where as, in The Tyger he says, What immortal hand or eye
/could form thy fearful symmetry? (p. 129, 1 2). He innocently asks the lamb if it
knows it s creator, yet fearfully asks the tyger who made it. It seems he almost
demands who made the tyger, as if the tyger never should have been created
because it is terrifying. The tyger is a fierce creature and it hunts and kills for its
food, but the lamb does not because it eats grass. This is probably the reason why
Blake speaks of the tyger is such an ill manner. ... Show more content on

Gender Bias Essay
Gender bias, also known as sexism, is a full of attitudes, laws, taboos, preferences,
and behaviors that differentiates and discriminates against either sex. These may
be a position of which male dominance and female subjugation in the modern
society. It could also be a form of sexual stereotypes between men and women,
these are commonly experienced in employment versus other positions. A final
place that discrimination is faced is the academic environment, the female to male
ratios are not in sync in certain programs and courses because of this and it is
pressuring men and women to not go into certain fields and do what they love and
please. Most advertisements on Television, magazines, newspapers, online ad s,
use a charged sexually image with a female as the star. Women are to be a pleasure
for men, and nothing else. Many people have different opinions on genders and
sexuality and that is okay, but sometimes you just need to keep them to yourselves.

two white guys in the front, and then the Hispanic guy was in the middle, and
following him was the two black guys. They were very respectful when we turned
the corner and let us go through, as we passed them they went back into their

two black guys in the back. I also observed that they were having separate
conversations among themselves. As it appeared to me, it looked like they were just
socializing and spending time together, and goofing around. They could have been

Manet s Atlantia
In Briony Fer s discussion of the formation of modern art, she invites us to view the
problematic character of the modern art as a form of difference or incoherence
(21,27). In this paper, I will delineate her argument within the framework of Manet s
Olympia and then add more dimensions to the controversies involved in
understanding Olympia by drawing upon T.J. Clark s criticism and Manet s own
voice. We will see that while Fer locates the painting within a dynamic current
engaged in dialogues with both the past and the future, Clark cares less about the time
flow than about the system of meaning determinant within its contemporary social
political context. Manet himself, however, is rather oblivious to the historically
critical position... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As she defines the modern as a difference cultivated in the practice of art (21), in
order to maker her point, her analysis of Olympia dwells upon the conflicts
between the painting and the artistic conventions. She makes it clear that the
incoherence occurs at two closely related levels, namely the level of technique and
the level of subject matter (27). With regard to the former, it seems that Manet
invokes the tradition of nude just so he can discard it. There is a lack of
compliance...with a tradition of painting of the nude, in which the nude female body
was offered for contemplation in an idealized form , and such departure from the
technical convention of art making further enables the construction of conflicts at
the narrative level (Fer, 24): Olympia exhibits sharp control over her own sexuality
in an almost shameless way, yet the disgraceful defiance is diluted by the rich
material embellishment, the classicized title and the allegorical poem. She is a
classless prostitute (for any reference to class dissolves into the shadowy classical
traditions invoked), but is a mysterious goddess at the same time. The disregard of
artistic practice combined with the ambiguous iconography leads to a further level of
incoherence of meaning or representation, which Fer seems to think, illustrates the
difference that proclaims modern art as a new phenomenon in its own
Multiple Themes In Maus By Art Spiegelman
In the graphic novel, Maus, written by Art Spiegelman, there are multiple themes
present throughout the comics. One in particular, that becomes very repetitive, is
the theme of how the way one was treated in his or her past can influence the way
they treat others in the present. This theme is evident on page 45, where Artie and
Vladek are eating dinner. During their meal, Vladek notices that his son is not
eating everything that is on his plate. Vladek then states, So it has to be, always
you must eat all what is on your plate (Spiegelman 45). The only reason why
Vladek was so harsh on his son for not eating all that was given to him was because
when he was younger, his parents would force him to eat everything on his plate,

It respects less developed nations independence. In this way, the superpower
becomes somewhat isolationist, because a superpower usually has the ability to be
self reliant if needs be. Indeed, it follows that if the superpower does in fact simply
preside over itself, it will eventually become isolationist. A major problem with this
approach is that it may cause a superpower to consume its resources, so then when it
attempts to regain its authority over the rest of the world after being isolationist for
so long and now having limited resources, it is no longer an intimidating force, and
thus loses its superpower supremacy. The original empire of China was
technologically superior to the rest of the world at that time, but it was isolationist
and eventually overtaken as the rest of the world advanced (Further information

The second approach that a superpower may believe its responsibility to be is to
aid those countries that are less developed by inflicting their rule over such
countries. Aiding countries can be achieved in many ways. There can be simply
financial aid. A superpower may also attempt to help improve the economy of a
nation by providing educational opportunities to those who desperately need them,
as well as bringing in economic resources to establish in the countries. Military aid to

Low- Income Housing
Research Paper on Sustainable Low Income Housing The most successful, long term,
low income housing projects are those that use sustainable design and address the
social, cultural, and economic needs of residents. Traditionally built low income
housing projects are associated with high crime rates and high mortality rates among
the residents who live in them. They do not provide for the needs of residents,
resulting in many of the problems these low income housing projects face today.
These problems range from endangerment of human life, psychological afflictions
due to the high stresses that are endured by residents, disease epidemics caused by
overcrowding and unsanitary living conditions (in combination with a substandard

This can start to override the stigma often associated with low income housing and
even serving as a point of pride for those who live there (Marin). Green housing
projects also provide a healthier living environment than traditional housing projects
(Marin). A Cornell study, comparing over 200 low income and mid income children
in upstate New York focused on the effects of living conditions on health, and found
that the poorer children were five times as likely to suffer from environmental
stresses which lead directly to health problems (Public Health; Overcrowded and
noisy living conditions may contribute to bad health). Researchers examined
crowding, noise and housing quality for the sample of 8 to 10 year olds and found
that the levels of stress hormones measured among the low income children were
consistently higher, indicating those children were under physiological and
psychological stress. Sustainable low income housing has the effect of reducing these
environmental stressors because it inherently incorporates the issues of occupant well
being as much as it incorporates green building materials into design. In 1990 the
New York Times ran an article on the skyrocketing rate of epidemics in the inner

Mature And Mature Market
Characteristics of Mature and Growing markets University Student University of the
People Abstract Every product or service in the market place follows a defined life
cycle. This is the introduction of the product to the market, the growth phase where
more and more consumers buy the product and the maturity phase. This are the
phases of active consumption of products and services. During the growth phase,
there is exponential increase in sales and competition starts setting in as a result.
Prices will tend to remain constant or decline to penetrate the market. More
advertisements and distribution channels are put in place. At maturity, this is where
competition is stiff and very few new consumers enters the market place. Prices...

Stark and Stewart (2017) states that customers needs don t appear to be rapidly
evolving. Based on your answer to #1, how are the decisions on price, advertising,
and distribution channels different for the two brand managers? In growing a
market, we noted that the consumers are more knowledgeable about the products
and they begin to exert pressure on price to come down or remain relatively
constant without increasing. In most cases, prices remain constant or may
decrease to penetrate the market. This is supported by the influx of suppliers of
the same or related goods and services. The consumers can switch between
suppliers depending on price offered. Increase in competition precipitates creation
of more distribution outlets or channels. The suppliers want to reach the consumers
at their door steps. In this case, suppliers will appoint distributors, agents and foot
soldiers to promote the sales. Sales promotion costs are spread over large volume

Milk Vs Formula Milk Research
From this experiment, it is concluded that babies who are fed breastmilk or the
mixture sleep the longest compared to formula fed babies. From this conclusion
we can verify that formula milk is a comfort food. For example, after 3 bottles,
formula fed babies slept the longest. This confers with the idea that: because
formula takes longer to digest, babies wake up to eat less often than breastfed
babies. Formula gives babies longer sleep, but is it healthy? Researchers determined
formula as a comfort food, which leads to formula fed babies to being overweight
from overeating. When being compared with breastmilk and the mixture, around the
meal sizes 1 and 2 bottles, in table 1, both the mixture and breastmilk fed babies had
longer sleep times
Organize Organized Religion
1 Timothy 4:12 states, Don t let anyone look down on you because you are young,
but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in
purity (New International Version). Religion is expressed in many different forms
throughout the world depending on the culture. Most religions do not stay the same
and change over time. Some people believe religions should be less strict. The
problem is, once a religionhas changed, it rarely goes back to its true beginnings.
Religion is viewed and practiced differently depending on the culture in which it is
rooted. Religion is not accepted nor denied by the community. People have spent
time at a church in the past and did not enjoy what was preached. One possible
reason people do not return, is the message they hear is not one they can believe.
Another possible reason could be someone does not want to worry about pleasing a
God. Regular churchgoers, who believe in a God, are said to live happier lives,
living each day to please their God. In order to please these entities, people to take
part in activities that please themselves and/or their God. A person that constantly
needs to please a God, is often referred to as a participant in organized religion....

If a religion has beliefs taught in a certain, specific manner, repeatedly, it qualifies
as an organized religion. Some organized religions have been known to turn into
cults. People should be allowed to come and go in a church as they please. Most
religions start out this way, even some organized religions. Yet at a certain point,
those religions become more strict and can slip into a cult status. A cult is based on
conformity and control, rather than self awareness. One religion that many believe to
be a cult is
Research Directions On The Adoption, Usage And Impact

Submission 2 пѓ Research directions on the Adoption, Usage and Impact of
Internet of Things through use of Big Data Analytics [1]. A framework was
proposed in this paper based on the possibility that innovation will develop from
observed things , to system of things , and at last to a Web of Things . Prior to the
framework proposed in this paper, there were few other frameworks proposed by
different authors in different papers. One such framework is discussed where
cloud based software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and
infrastructure as a service (IaaS) capabilities enable the various smart devices
connected to the Internet of Things [2]. Another framework addresses the power
distribution needs to ensure the various wired and wireless devices (things) have the
power capabilities needed to deliver needed bandwidth at their particular location in
the smart grid [3]. Other framework focuses on the issues of adoption, usage and
impact of RFID technology [4]. This paper analyzes the framework by dividing
Network of Things instance from Internet of Things . In the former case, machine to
machine communication between devices can be controlled by a decision making
authority in a single network. Whereas in the latter case, communication between
devices takes place within the same network or between the devices in different
networks, initiated across the internet. Moreover, this paper validated its proposed
framework using literature
Low Fat Research Papers
According to several independently done studies, the key to losing weight is
simply to eat the right foods. Proteins and fat are actually the best foods for losing
weight because they satisfy people for longer and do not cause the dramatic blood
level spikes or high insulin levels that carbohydrates do. In fact, until the last few
centuries, the average human diet consisted mostly of these two vital ingredients.
In controlled experiments, people who are put on an almost entirely protein fat diet
(1900 total calories a day) with less than 240 calories a day from carbohydrates end
up losing one to three pounds a week without feeling noticeably hungrier. The
energy levels of people following these diets actually increase during their fast and
overall wellness levels go up. The only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carbohydrates were not heavily relied upon for energy until the advent of the
agricultural revolution. During the short time frame between the revolution and
now, humans have not had time to adapt to changing eating patterns. Thus it
intuitively makes sense that you can lose weight by eating a traditional high
protein high fat diet. Studies have shown that eating a high carbohydrate diet, not
a high fat one is correlated to a higher incidence of heart disease. This is because
the fatty acids and triglycerides that clog arteries are composed not only of fat but
also of high energy carbohydrate chains. High levels or sugar in the blood are
needed in order to direct the synthesis of these clots. It is for this reason that tribes
like the Maori which eat an extremely high fat high protein diet demonstrate an
almost nonexistent level of heart disease and obesity. One dieting example: when
two British nutritionists, Bruce Bistrian and George Blackburn told their obese
patients to eat nothing but lean meat, fish, and poultry (650 to 800 calories a day)
for a year healf of them lost ast least 40 pounds
Chapter Summary Of Living Color By Jablonski
The next chapter in Living Color deals with the encounters of people with differing
skin and the development of prejudice. Jablonski once begins in Egypt and while
there are color differences a social hierarchy has not been formed based on skin
color. For example, Jabonski (2012) says, In ancient Greece and Rome, a person s
worth was measured by the yardstick of citizenry, not color (p. 114). Developments
of Judaism and Christianity, stressed a more community centered idea, based on
faith, not color. One of the first beginnings of racial bias thus developed in the
Islamic world. Jablonski explains how some prominent scholars justified the
enslavement of both extremely depigmented and pigmented people based on
temperament. With biases starting to develop the age of... Show more content on

Jablonski goes into detail on the extremely complex labels and politics that formed
in order to classify slaves by color. Skin color became the standard by which slaves
of African descent were judged suitable for various types of work (Jablonski, 2012,
p. 148). She explains how these had become so complicated that white society had
begun to fear invisible blackness (Jablonski, 2012, p. 154). Many people strived to
become more lightly pigmented in order to pass as white and some succeeded.
Jablonski describes the various atrocities committed against people due to the
color of skin. In her chapter, Skin Colors and Their Meanings Jablonski stresses
again how skin color preferences are learned by children from society. In the past
as a way to survive, anything noticeably different was viewed with suspicion or fear
(Jablonski, 2012, p. 157). Jablonski then goes into detail on color discrimination in
South Africa, Brazil, India, and Japan, as a way to demonstrate the reoccurrence of
themes within color discrimination and how colorism has developed in separate
places so
Manliness In Sports In Not Just A Game By Dave Zirin
Manliness in sports have always been present, as Dave Zirin describes, but it is even
more present when it comes to pain and recovery. With this combination of sports and
manliness, it leads to the militarization of football, and the blind devotion that the
sport gives to the military.
In one of the segments in the video Not Just a Game, Dave Zirin introduces the
concept of the merger of manliness and sports. The central theme of this argument
is that in order to be a real man, one would have to sacrifice his body, and be even
more vulnerable to injury (Zurin). This is all to serve the ultimate goal, to win the
game (Zurin). However, as stated in the film, this leads to the blurring of ethical
lines, as athletes start to cheat, like take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this argument, Zurin describes how Tillman went from sacrifice his career to
serve his country, to end up being against the war and making sure that everyone
knew his position (Zurin). When Tillman was killed overseas in conflict, the Army
made sure to cover up the true events of friendly fire with the story that Tillman died
under enemy fire while charging up a hill (Zurin). Zurin goes on to describe that,
according to this militarization mindset, someone fighting heroically while not
challenging orthodoxy is more courageous that someone challenging the motivations
and beliefs of a society and of an action
The Responses Of Fear In Lord Of The Flies By William
Golding
In 1950, the British mathematician and philosopher Bertrand Russell once stated,
To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom. . During the same time, the world was
gripped by the fear of communism and the possibility of nuclear attacks during the
Cold War. Published in 1954, the novel Lord of the Flies, by William Golding,
expresses the ramifications of fearin a group of young English boys that have been
stranded on an island. Golding explores both the physical and chemical reactions of
fear, as well as the connection to communismand how it relates to the dynamic on the
island. The response to fear begins in a part of the brain called the amygdala, which
functions as the threat center. It triggers the fight or flight response. In his novel,
Golding uses Ralph to display both of these reactions. For example, Ralph begins to
fear Jack after they split into separate tribes. The turmoil within the group leads to a
fight amongst the two boys, They met with a jolt and bounced apart. Jack swung with
his fist and caught him on the ear. Ralph hit Jack in the stomach and made him grunt.
(207). Rather than let his fear get the best of him, Ralph fights back against Jack to
protect himself. In this situation, his brain aids him in quickly and impulsively
reacting to what is happening. However, when facing the beast for the first time,
Ralph chooses to flee instead, Ralph found himself taking giant strides among the
ashes... Presently the mountain was deserted, save for three
Hacker And How We Can Defend Ourselves Against Them
The term hacker and how we can defend ourselves against them
In today s society, the term hacker is very well known across the world. It is scary to
know that you are being a victim of any individual who works with remote
computers. People who use unauthorized entries to other computers through
communication networks such as the Internet, are known as hacker. Since the
technology has improved, all people should have information about hackers and how
we can protect our systems against them.
Where was this term born? The term hacker comes from an idea derived from a
community of computer programmers and systems designers, in the 1960s around
the Massachusetts Institute of Technology s, Tech Model Railroad Club and MIT
Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. A hacker is a person who secretly gets access to a
computer system in order to get information. They create programs that are so
complex, even the best programmers cannot conceive them. Many of the hackers are
probably between fourteen and eighteen years old. They earn a lot of money stealing
important information; also, they steal because they are paid for doing it; but, many
people have become their prey causing them emotional disturbances. They use many
ways of stealing.
Since 1997, companies have received hacker attacks in their systems, making some
lose a significant amount of money. With this history attacks it is now important to
find a method to combat them. They work stealing our passwords, using the process
The Pelican Brief Novel vs. Movie
The Pelican Brief Novel vs. Movie
The differences and the similarities between the novel The Pelican Brief by John
Grisham and the movie The Pelican Brief by Alan J. Pakula film. There were
maybe similarities between the novel and the movie. The story line and plot were
basically the same in both the novel and the movie. Then there were also many
differences when the novel was made in to a movie. As in most cases when a novel
is made in to a movie there are certain things that are left out in the movie version.
The novel and the movie were both very suspenseful. The main characters are both
the same in the book and in the movie but are a little bit different then their counter
partners in the novel/movie. In both the movie and ... Show more content on

The scene in the novel where all the porno cinemas were bombed and burned to the
ground was somewhat important in the fact that it showed to state of anarchy our
country is in, in this novel. The movie neglected to use that scene in to the movie
version of The Pelican Brief. The burning down of the porno cinemas gave an
example and showed how the Underground Military worked. This in a sense
excluded them from the list of suspects do to there expert use of explosives. If they
had indeed were the killers of the two Chief Justices they most likely would of
stuck to there area of expertise, explosives. The main difference between the novel
and the movie is that in the novel you are introduced to more characters and there
involvement in the story is explained. The movie doesn t really introduce u as well
as the novel does and this makes it harder to follow what is going on in the movie
version. It is harder in a movie to introduce a character but it seemed that it was
poorly don in The Pelican Brief movie version. I can understand why its easer for a
novel to describe how and what they what you to know about a particular character.
Now in a movie it s your own perception that you make of a character.
The perception that the novel is usually better than the movie version in this case is
true; I preferred reading the novel over watching the movie. The novel

The consolidated Statement of Earning or income statement, tells the user about the sales and expensed applied by the Home Deport during the fiscal year. An analysis of income statements shows a company with strong sales figures and the worth of up to $71 billion sales per year. Nevertheless, the one thing that is very noticeable is the substantial drop in sales from to Fiscal 2008 compared to previous years. Home DepotВґs net sales in Fiscal have dropped from 25,997 to 23,990 (in the millions). In addition to the drop in sales, Home Depot had reported higher expenses throughout Fiscal 2008. The statements provides through information that is very helpful throughout the decision making process of the company. For example, upper management may determine that a struggling economy is the possible cause of the decrease in sales and it may not be the best time to introduce any new projects. Also, the company may decide to increase their credit programs for consumers with the intention to increase sales. In general, the company is strong, however the drop in sales and net earnings cannot warrant some cautions until the economy shows signs of improvement and the sales and net earnings continue to drop. The drop in sales and net earnings shows that even the strong companies are affected when the economy is not doing so well. The balance sheet is one of the major and critical financial statements that show the financial position of the company. The balance sheets tell the user of the

Adventure Based Learning For Teaching Adventure Based Learning Active Teaching Method Used In Teaching Subjects in Tourism In the article Adventure Based Learning Active Teaching Method Used In Teaching Subjects in Tourism, the authors briefly defined adventure learning and the integrated teaching approach. Stefan, Orboi, Banes, and Martin (2015) mentioned that adventure learningcalled for an active and interactive or collective cooperation of students in teaching; it also encouraged teamwork and competition amid students; (p. 143). Additionally, they revealed that integrated teaching encompassed a definitive technique of formulating and planning which generated connections between what students learned and life happenings (Stefan, Orboi, Banes, and Martin, 2015, p.143). According to the authors, teachers offered students the chance to express themselves freely and creatively, creating a stimulating environment and diversified their personality development when operating in integrated teaching (Stefan, Orboi, Banes, and Martin, 2015, p.143). The concentration of the integrated method was to cultivate preparatory skills, transferable transverse principles beneficial for communal, and the individual advancement of students. These methods were conducted with the intention of examining not only individuals but also combined collection of groups on paramount local and global public issues to learn and develop: personal, social, cognitive, and cultural abilities (Stefan, Orboi, Banes and Martin, 2015, p. 143).

  • 6. Gas Chromatography Lab Report Pankti Gandhi 9/26/14 Separation of Liquids by Simple Distillation and Analysis by Gas Chromatography Methods/Background: The purpose of this experiment was to separate two volatile components from a mixture due to the different chemical properties of each compound. The mixture used in this experiment was ethyl acetate (EtOAc) and butyl acetate (BuOAc). The mixture containing two liquids will be separated by a separation procedure known as distillation. This method relies on each compound having a distinct and separate boiling point. In order to see if two liquids were separated, the pure liquids will be analyzed with gas chromatography to determine the success of the distillation. Ethyl acetate Melting Point: 88.12 g/mol Boiling Point: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was done by using common lab method known as simple distillation, which is used to separate a volatile liquid from a non volatile liquid, and also to separate two liquids that have boiling point differences of above 50 oC. The boiling point of any liquid is obtained when the total pressure above the liquid is equal to the atmospheric pressure. Other objective of this experiment was to learn how to use the Gas Chromatography to check whether the two components in a mixture successfully separated. The results of the calculated GC percent composition indicate that the two components were not successfully separated by simple distillation, but it was very close to the calculated percentage composition. This may be because the boiling points of the ethyl acetate (77.1 oC) and butyl acetate (126 oC) are not that far apart, and simple distillation shows positive results if the two liquids boiling points differ by greater than 50 oC. The second reason could be that enough fractions were not used. There were higher chances of separating two components fully if more fractions were used. As indicated in data tables 1 and 3, approximately 91% of ethyl acetate and about 99% of butyl acetate composition indicates that the distillation was quiet an efficient and successful. The butyl acetate has a very high boiling point and longer retention time because of its more Van der Waals interactions. However, the ethyl acetate has a lower boiling point and a faster retention time in the GC because of its weaker bond interactions. Therefore as indicated in the data table 1, 2, and 3, ethyl acetate has a higher affinity for the mobile phase in the gas chromatograph and it moves faster. Moreover, only 28 mL of mixture was collected in the distillation process rather than 30 mL. This may be due to the higher temperature the mixture

When I was reading these articles this kind of resonated with me because I was raised muslim, and in islam the practice of being gay is not allowed. Of Course people who are gay are born that way but the sin is following through with your temptations and sleeping with another man/women. Im sure this is the case with other religions, but the people who follow these religions inert their own ideas and bias. They want to deny the fact that people can be born gay, even though it doesn t say in the quran that people can t be born gay. So they make up fake stories and write fake articles to get people to follow their points. If we use our critical thinking we would never fall victim to crazy stories people make on the internet. Of course we re only human so being rational is out the box, we only want to read something we agree
  • 8. Comparing Two Gospels Essay Gospels are narratives of the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. There are many gospels but only four were included in the Christian cannon: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The canonical gospels have many similarities and differences. There are many different theories as to why these differences exist beginning with the observations of Clement, Augustine, and Papias three fathers of the church. Clement of Alexandria was said to have held a traditional view that Matthew and Luke, the gospels with genealogies, were written first. Augustine of Hippo believed that the gospels were written in what is now their canonical order and that each writer relied upon the work of the previous author. Thus, John derived from Luke who derived from Mark who derived from Matthew. Papias thought that Mark used Peter as a source for much of his gospel. In the late 18th century, church scholars began to challenge the long held views that the gospels were written before any of the other New Testament writings... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only evidence for them is the similarities between the texts that are said to have drawn from them. A more recent theory, put forth by Austin Farrer in a 1955 essay entitled On Dispensing with Q , examines what can be referred to as a Markan priority non Q hypothesis. It dismisses the idea of hypothetical source gospels in favor of relying solely on available texts. In his argument, Farrer states that Q is weak because it is a hypothesis and can be dismissed simply by providing a competing hypothesis. Farrer approaches the problem in a manner similar to that of Franciscan philosopher William of Occam. Given the two hypothesizes, that a hypothetical gospel Q existed or that the author of Luke used both Matthew and Mark as sources, Farrer finds the latter to have fewer assumptions. Instead, Farrer suggests that the shared content between Matthew and Luke exists because Luke used both Mark and Matthew as sources.
  • 9. Low Methane Production The methane production rates of this experiment present similar results with the previous experiment with Ni. Methane produced was depending on the substrate used. Methanol, which is slowly consumed in the cultures, results in a steady increase in methane production (Figure 12). On the contrary, acetate, that was consumed rapidly, made a quick increase in methaneproduction on early days of incubation (Figure 13). Also, on cultures using H2, there was also a lag phase before methane was produced significantly (Figure 14. A). However, total methane produced in this experiment was lower than the in the previous experiment. Maximum methane production on cultures were only 5.5, 20, and 16 mmol/medium on methanol, acetate, and H2 respectively. The initial concentrations of the substrates were similar with the previous experiment. Negative control also gave similar methane production with previous experiment (Figure 14. B). Uptake of Co by other microorganisms other than methanogens is possible to happen in the cultures, decreasing the available Co for methanogens. On the other hand, if the presence of Co can favor the growth of other groups of microorganism, competition for common substrates can be also affected. It was also possible that the cultures require Co instead of Ni for their metabolism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The flea would then feed on a host s blood, and regurgitate the bacteria into the host, causing the victim to become infected the bubonic plague (Nox). The Rattus rattus, or black rat, is considered to have helped the spread of the Black Death by carrying the fleas that carried the bacteria causing bubonic plague (Byrne 196). Upon infection of the bubonic plague, a variety of symptoms appeared quite quickly. Book sellers were concerned with selling the largest profit which meant reaching the largest consumer basis. The Latin speaking population represented a small consumer basis and so book producers began to print books in common languages which created a large new reading population. The fall of Latin was assisted by a change in the character of Latin itself, the impact of the Reformation, and the slow, geographically uneven spread of particular vernaculars as instruments of administrative centralization. The rise of new imagined communities was assisted by capitalism, print (technology), and the fatality of human linguistic diversity. In the play, Macbeth by William Shakespeare, we saw an overwhelming proof of the protagonist s, Macbeth s, strengths at the beginning of the play with the most prominent being his ambition. However, as the story unfolded and gradually grew darker, the purpose behind his ambition slowly evolved from one of reasonable desire into one of caustic greed. In the end, it is this very greed that ended up being his hamartia, inciting murder and blinding his judgements before ultimately leading him to his downfall. Although there were multiple factors that contributed to Macbeth s many crimes leading up to his downfall, the ultimate reason that had pushed him to commit murder was his own, inherent greed. After witnessing one of the witches prophecies come true in front of his very eyes, Macbeth had immediately taken it upon himself to rid of the only obstacle between him and the last prophecy, Duncan. The Problem With Government Issued Foreign Aid The Problem with Government Issued Foreign Aid It is widely held that the United States should give money to aid third world countries living in poverty because helping the less fortunate is a strong value in American culture. The U.S. has an interest in helping third world countries escape poverty and elevating them so they may contribute to the growing world state. Therefore, America believes that sending a big fat check to the governments of these impoverished nations is the best way to help. However, all this gifted money does is create increased third world poverty by feeding corrupt governments and diminishing economic growth. This argument has been in the back of a lot of American s mind for a while now, and people normally want one of three things. They want to decrease foreign aid, or they want to keep foreign aid the exact same, or they want to spend the same amount of money but distribute it different ways. The last viewpoint is what I want to focus on. Foreign aid needs to be changed into a more productive way for these developing countries to get out of poverty without corrupting their government or hurting their economic growth. Government issued foreign aid first started after the end of World War II when Secretary of State George Marshall sent money to European countries in order to help them rebuild. This assistance helped to strengthen European economies and also stabilize their countries. Then in 1961, President Kennedy signed the Foreign Assistance

However, for others, the burdens that accompany the task of growing up may be overpowering. Some may find themselves at odds and feel overwhelmed while pursuing their goals, although motivated to do so. Also, they may lack the resources or find themselves underprepared to meet the challenges that accompany those goals. Important questions come to mind when I think about young adults within today s society: why does it seem that today s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today s consumers expect businesses to have an effective site, and they typically will go online for information before opening the Yellow Pages or driving to the store. However, even though businesses truly need a good website, it is common for business owners to be uncomfortable with the process of hiring a designer. Most of the time this occurs because it is something that the business owner is not familiar with and it is just a little bit outside of their comfort zone. While the whole situation and process can at times be intimidating, hiring the right designer and getting a great website shouldn t be something that you are avoiding. As ... The Designer s Portfolio One thing you will definitely want to evaluate is the work that is in the designer s portfolio. The quality of their other projects should give you an idea of the quality of work that they are capable of and that you would receive. If items in the portfolio do not live up to your quality expectations there is little reason to believe that you would be happy with the work if you were to hire the designer. Also, it s a good idea to ask the designer if he or she has worked on any projects similar to yours in the past. For example, if you are having an e commerce website built it may be difficult to make an accurate assessment of the designer s abilities if the portfolio does not include any e commerce sites. Comparing items this way will help to base your decision on how your own project will turnout, not based on one amazing item from their portfolio that has nothing in common with your project. 3. Cost The fees of the designer typically take the number one spot for most business owners that are choosing a designer. Looking at the costs is necessary, but basing the decision almost

I have taken a communication and education skills for dietetic professional in the past. But it has been few years and it is good to re fresh some of the new materials. These factors are important to study, so it would be easier by the time we have to make the nutrition intervention. We can adjust the intervention based on the factors which influence them the most. So clients still can be comfortable, even when they have to change their diets. Knowing the characteristics of effective nutrition counselors are valuable for me. And I believe that I have many of the qualifications. One thing that is really interesting about the characteristics is to have a sense of humor. I was a little surprise, but agree. Besides being professional at work, as a counselor we are human too. Humor helps to enrich the relationship with clients and helping them not to focusing their problems too seriously (Pg.6). The chapters suggest that we as counselors have to be able to understand our self first, that we have to be OK if we would like to help others in need. Then it came to a perspective that many counselors sometime forget that it is the client s needs which need to be fulfill, not them. This situation leads to dictatorial situation where the counselor show too much power and influence over the clients problems and decision and forgot to be open and actually listen to the clients

Communication Buchanan and Huczynski (2010) note that many managers do not pay attention to communication when implementing change, which may increase employee absenteeism, turnover and low productivity. Furthermore, some of the reasons for employees increased expectation during the change process are availability of information through the internet as well as employees anticipation to contribute ideas and be kept informed. If these expectations are met, employees feel valued and therefore are more likely to be committed to the company and perform better at their work. Aramanda wanted to be supportive of a certain degree of open communication culture, which was manifested by a requirement for the employees to nominate their colleagues for newly created job posts. This approach was also constructed to represent Aramanda s interests and to manipulate employee attitudes and behaviours. The nomination process aimed to take advantage of knowledge in the network or informal skills that perhaps could have been difficult to be evaluated by an outsider. The outcome however proved to be different than anticipated, as it created a negative feeling amongst the employees. Furthermore, one of the reasons for hiring consultants in the first place was to take advantage of their impartiality and independence from office politics. Insufficient communication was also evident in Phase

Cutting fine arts saves money that could be used on academically stimulating programs and bettering Core subject areas. An Arizona newspaper reported that a school district was able to save one and a half million dollars when they completely cut their fine arts program (Faller). Fine arts takes up a large portion of schools budgets, and schools who cut it in its entirety would be able to save that money and set it aside for academic programs with more measurable results. Alternatively, schools also reduce their fine arts programs and make it more of an extracurricular activity. This continues the schools involvement and sponsorship for the arts, but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Educators, administrators, and the public might also argue to increase fine arts funding, but only to the schools who are struggling to meet Core standards, as well as other educational requirements. In school facilities where there are large demographics of Hispanics and African Americans, students are less likely to have the opportunity to take art classes (Holcomb). Since these students won t receive as equal of an education as their peers, then something needs to intervene and equalize their opportunities with those who have access to these programs. Historically speaking, schools with high concentrations of minorities have generally had limited access to fine arts classes (Holcomb). This has been an ongoing problem, and an increase of funding to these schools may be the solution to the problem. According to a study in Social Science Quarterly , socioeconomic and ethnicity are factors in music participation in children; whites and Asians from higher socioeconomic backgrounds are more likely to play an instrument than African Americans or Hispanics (Holcomb). Increasing the funding for struggling schools may seem like one of the best solutions, but what happens to the schools with established and succeeding arts programs? Do they receive an increase of funding too? Chances are no, because these schools will statistically have higher standardized test scores than the struggling schools.

Life is hard, but you have to keep on trying and never give up even with all the obstacles. He writes about the hardships and racism they endure during that time. Through the first 7 lines Hughes writes about how his mother told him that life is no crystal stair and that there are splinters and other hardships. In the first line he says Well, son, I ll tell you which gives us an idea of where this is going. The mother is going to give some kind of advice. After that life is being compared to stairs, and life isn t perfect like crystal stairs. Life has a lot of problems and things that go wrong. That s where the splinter, tacks, and torn up boards come in. Since life isn t perfect like these stairs; life has splinters and tacks as well. Those are the problems and obstacles that occur in life, and in this poem it s the hardships and racism. Places with no carpet on the floor refers to other hardships they ve dealt with and there s no one there to help them out. In lines 8 13 the mother refers to the things she s had to do to get through. All the time she has been trying so hard to do right and survive. She s been climbing, reaching, and turning corners. She s been reaching and climbing to make sure her son doesn t have to experience the same life as her. She s been struggling. In the light and the dark she s endured many hardships. Some being worse

However, when he asked the tygerwho created it, I could hear fear and hatred in his voice. He didn t speak of the tyger in the same voice he did as the lamb. In this paper, I will delineate her argument within the framework of Manet s Olympia and then add more dimensions to the controversies involved in understanding Olympia by drawing upon T.J. Clark s criticism and Manet s own voice. We will see that while Fer locates the painting within a dynamic current engaged in dialogues with both the past and the future, Clark cares less about the time flow than about the system of meaning determinant within its contemporary social political context. Manet himself, however, is rather oblivious to the historically critical position... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As she defines the modern as a difference cultivated in the practice of art (21), in order to maker her point, her analysis of Olympia dwells upon the conflicts between the painting and the artistic conventions. She makes it clear that the incoherence occurs at two closely related levels, namely the level of technique and the level of subject matter (27). With regard to the former, it seems that Manet invokes the tradition of nude just so he can discard it. There is a lack of compliance...with a tradition of painting of the nude, in which the nude female body was offered for contemplation in an idealized form , and such departure from the technical convention of art making further enables the construction of conflicts at the narrative level (Fer, 24): Olympia exhibits sharp control over her own sexuality in an almost shameless way, yet the disgraceful defiance is diluted by the rich material embellishment, the classicized title and the allegorical poem. She is a classless prostitute (for any reference to class dissolves into the shadowy classical traditions invoked), but is a mysterious goddess at the same time. The disregard of artistic practice combined with the ambiguous iconography leads to a further level of incoherence of meaning or representation, which Fer seems to think, illustrates the difference that proclaims modern art as a new phenomenon in its own

Based on your answer to #1, how are the decisions on price, advertising, and distribution channels different for the two brand managers? In growing a market, we noted that the consumers are more knowledgeable about the products and they begin to exert pressure on price to come down or remain relatively constant without increasing. In most cases, prices remain constant or may decrease to penetrate the market. This is supported by the influx of suppliers of the same or related goods and services. The consumers can switch between suppliers depending on price offered. Increase in competition precipitates creation of more distribution outlets or channels. The suppliers want to reach the consumers at their door steps. In this case, suppliers will appoint distributors, agents and foot soldiers to promote the sales. One such framework is discussed where cloud based software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) capabilities enable the various smart devices connected to the Internet of Things [2]. Another framework addresses the power distribution needs to ensure the various wired and wireless devices (things) have the power capabilities needed to deliver needed bandwidth at their particular location in the smart grid [3]. Other framework focuses on the issues of adoption, usage and impact of RFID technology [4]. This paper analyzes the framework by dividing Network of Things instance from Internet of Things . In the former case, machine to machine communication between devices can be controlled by a decision making authority in a single network. Whereas in the latter case, communication between devices takes place within the same network or between the devices in different networks, initiated across the internet. Moreover, this paper validated its proposed framework using literature
  • 41. Low Fat Research Papers According to several independently done studies, the key to losing weight is simply to eat the right foods. Proteins and fat are actually the best foods for losing weight because they satisfy people for longer and do not cause the dramatic blood level spikes or high insulin levels that carbohydrates do. In fact, until the last few centuries, the average human diet consisted mostly of these two vital ingredients. In controlled experiments, people who are put on an almost entirely protein fat diet (1900 total calories a day) with less than 240 calories a day from carbohydrates end up losing one to three pounds a week without feeling noticeably hungrier. The energy levels of people following these diets actually increase during their fast and overall wellness levels go up. The only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Carbohydrates were not heavily relied upon for energy until the advent of the agricultural revolution. During the short time frame between the revolution and now, humans have not had time to adapt to changing eating patterns. Thus it intuitively makes sense that you can lose weight by eating a traditional high protein high fat diet. Studies have shown that eating a high carbohydrate diet, not a high fat one is correlated to a higher incidence of heart disease. This is because the fatty acids and triglycerides that clog arteries are composed not only of fat but also of high energy carbohydrate chains. High levels or sugar in the blood are needed in order to direct the synthesis of these clots. It is for this reason that tribes like the Maori which eat an extremely high fat high protein diet demonstrate an almost nonexistent level of heart disease and obesity. One dieting example: when two British nutritionists, Bruce Bistrian and George Blackburn told their obese patients to eat nothing but lean meat, fish, and poultry (650 to 800 calories a day) for a year healf of them lost ast least 40 pounds
  • 42. Chapter Summary Of Living Color By Jablonski The next chapter in Living Color deals with the encounters of people with differing skin and the development of prejudice. Jablonski once begins in Egypt and while there are color differences a social hierarchy has not been formed based on skin color. For example, Jabonski (2012) says, In ancient Greece and Rome, a person s worth was measured by the yardstick of citizenry, not color (p. 114). Developments of Judaism and Christianity, stressed a more community centered idea, based on faith, not color. One of the first beginnings of racial bias thus developed in the Islamic world. Jablonski explains how some prominent scholars justified the enslavement of both extremely depigmented and pigmented people based on temperament. With biases starting to develop the age of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jablonski goes into detail on the extremely complex labels and politics that formed in order to classify slaves by color. Skin color became the standard by which slaves of African descent were judged suitable for various types of work (Jablonski, 2012, p. 148). She explains how these had become so complicated that white society had begun to fear invisible blackness (Jablonski, 2012, p. 154). Many people strived to become more lightly pigmented in order to pass as white and some succeeded. Jablonski describes the various atrocities committed against people due to the color of skin. In her chapter, Skin Colors and Their Meanings Jablonski stresses again how skin color preferences are learned by children from society. In the past as a way to survive, anything noticeably different was viewed with suspicion or fear (Jablonski, 2012, p. 157). Jablonski then goes into detail on color discrimination in South Africa, Brazil, India, and Japan, as a way to demonstrate the reoccurrence of themes within color discrimination and how colorism has developed in separate places so
  • 43. Manliness In Sports In Not Just A Game By Dave Zirin Manliness in sports have always been present, as Dave Zirin describes, but it is even more present when it comes to pain and recovery. With this combination of sports and manliness, it leads to the militarization of football, and the blind devotion that the sport gives to the military. In one of the segments in the video Not Just a Game, Dave Zirin introduces the concept of the merger of manliness and sports. The central theme of this argument is that in order to be a real man, one would have to sacrifice his body, and be even more vulnerable to injury (Zurin). This is all to serve the ultimate goal, to win the game (Zurin). However, as stated in the film, this leads to the blurring of ethical lines, as athletes start to cheat, like take ... With this argument, Zurin describes how Tillman went from sacrifice his career to serve his country, to end up being against the war and making sure that everyone knew his position (Zurin). When Tillman was killed overseas in conflict, the Army made sure to cover up the true events of friendly fire with the story that Tillman died under enemy fire while charging up a hill (Zurin). Zurin goes on to describe that, according to this militarization mindset, someone fighting heroically while not challenging orthodoxy is more courageous that someone challenging the motivations and beliefs of a society and of an action
  • 44. The Responses Of Fear In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding In 1950, the British mathematician and philosopher Bertrand Russell once stated, To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom. . During the same time, the world was gripped by the fear of communism and the possibility of nuclear attacks during the Cold War. Published in 1954, the novel Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, expresses the ramifications of fearin a group of young English boys that have been stranded on an island. Golding explores both the physical and chemical reactions of fear, as well as the connection to communismand how it relates to the dynamic on the island. The response to fear begins in a part of the brain called the amygdala, which functions as the threat center. It triggers the fight or flight response. In his novel, Golding uses Ralph to display both of these reactions. For example, Ralph begins to fear Jack after they split into separate tribes. The turmoil within the group leads to a fight amongst the two boys, They met with a jolt and bounced apart. Jack swung with his fist and caught him on the ear. Ralph hit Jack in the stomach and made him grunt. (207). Rather than let his fear get the best of him, Ralph fights back against Jack to protect himself. In this situation, his brain aids him in quickly and impulsively reacting to what is happening. However, when facing the beast for the first time, Ralph chooses to flee instead, Ralph found himself taking giant strides among the ashes... Presently the mountain was deserted, save for three
  • 45. Hacker And How We Can Defend Ourselves Against Them The term hacker and how we can defend ourselves against them In today s society, the term hacker is very well known across the world. It is scary to know that you are being a victim of any individual who works with remote computers. People who use unauthorized entries to other computers through communication networks such as the Internet, are known as hacker. Since the technology has improved, all people should have information about hackers and how we can protect our systems against them. Where was this term born? The term hacker comes from an idea derived from a community of computer programmers and systems designers, in the 1960s around the Massachusetts Institute of Technology s, Tech Model Railroad Club and MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. A hacker is a person who secretly gets access to a computer system in order to get information. They create programs that are so complex, even the best programmers cannot conceive them. Many of the hackers are probably between fourteen and eighteen years old. They earn a lot of money stealing important information; also, they steal because they are paid for doing it; but, many people have become their prey causing them emotional disturbances. They use many ways of stealing. Since 1997, companies have received hacker attacks in their systems, making some lose a significant amount of money. With this history attacks it is now important to find a method to combat them. They work stealing our passwords, using the process

The Pelican Brief Novel vs. Movie The Pelican Brief Novel vs. Movie The differences and the similarities between the novel The Pelican Brief by John Grisham and the movie The Pelican Brief by Alan J. Pakula film. There were maybe similarities between the novel and the movie. The story line and plot were basically the same in both the novel and the movie. Then there were also many differences when the novel was made in to a movie. As in most cases when a novel is made in to a movie there are certain things that are left out in the movie version. The novel and the movie were both very suspenseful. The main characters are both the same in the book and in the movie but are a little bit different then their counter partners in the novel/movie. In both the movie and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scene in the novel where all the porno cinemas were bombed and burned to the ground was somewhat important in the fact that it showed to state of anarchy our country is in, in this novel. The movie neglected to use that scene in to the movie version of The Pelican Brief. The burning down of the porno cinemas gave an example and showed how the Underground Military worked. This in a sense excluded them from the list of suspects do to there expert use of explosives. If they had indeed were the killers of the two Chief Justices they most likely would of stuck to there area of expertise, explosives. The main difference between the novel and the movie is that in the novel you are introduced to more characters and there involvement in the story is explained. The movie doesn t really introduce u as well as the novel does and this makes it harder to follow what is going on in the movie version. It is harder in a movie to introduce a character but it seemed that it was poorly don in The Pelican Brief movie version. I can understand why its easer for a novel to describe how and what they what you to know about a particular character. Now in a movie it s your own perception that you make of a character. The perception that the novel is usually better than the movie version in this case is true; I preferred reading the novel over watching the movie. The novel
