Definition Of Drunk Driving
People often get confused with the different terms used to describe or classify drunk driving. The
fact is that there really is not much difference between them. Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and
Driving Under the Influence (DUI) are the same but some states use one term while another state
uses the other term. Some states use the term OUI which stands for Operating under the influence.
All three terms refer to the same offense of drinking while driving.
DUI is the most widely used term for drunk driving. DWI is less common but is used in New York,
Texas, and Missouri. OUI is more commonly used in the North eastern States including
Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island. There are also other terms used by some states such as
OWI (Operating While Intoxicated), OMVI (Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated), DUII
(Driving under the influence of an intoxicant), DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired), and DWUI
(Driving While Under the Influence).
Drunk driving is a persistent problem on our roads today. In Kansas City especially, the
prevalence of drivers who act negligent and get behind the wheel while being intoxicated
continues to increase. Drunk driving incidents are especially observed during holidays such as
Independence Day, St. Patrick s Day and Cinco de Mayo. On St. Patrick s Day alone, police
officers got 41 drunks out of 1300 vehicles that were checked. In 2016, there were 999 DUIs and
this number did not include North KC, Jackson County, and other nearby areas.

Rockefeller And George Eastman As A Captain Of Industry
John D. Rockefeller and George Eastman were captains of industry because they were innovators
and philanthropists. Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil company that took over the oil industries
and was the first United States business trusts. Eastman founded a camera company soon to be
called Kodak, and created roll filmfor cameras. By this founding Rockefeller was able to give
people ways to start cars, roads, eyeglasses, and credit cards, and other stuff that we use
everyday. When Eastman started Kodiak and made roll film, families created memories and gave
people their favorite movies by the the roll film. Because the Standard oil company was so
popular, it led to other companies selling oil for less, like Mobil, and marathon. But

Class Differences In Education Since 1918
How have class and gender affected educational experiences since 1918, and has this changed over
time?
In 1917, during a speech at Newcastle, English historian, educator and politician H. A. L. Fisher
argued that Education was an important tool in creating a harmonious and equitable society; a
society free from class preconceptions and bias. Fisher stated, Education dispels the hideous clouds
of class suspicion and softens the asperities of faction (cited in Simon, 1965, p. 344). In the same
year, members of the Workers Educational Association (WEA) made a statement declaring their
wish to eliminate inequalities within higher education, stating that they are united in the desire to
bring within reach [...] the Higher Education which has hitherto been too much the privilege of the
few (Reported in The Highway, February 1917, cited in Simon, 1965, p. 329). Yet, for the next
fifty years, the class division, factions and inequalities noted in 1917 by Fisher and the WEA would
continue to permeate the English education system, with social class and gender continuing to shape
educational experiences. Considering this, this essay will explore how issues of class and gender
have affected educational experiences in the years since 1918, with ... Show more content on

Essay On Homeowner
Nowadays, most homeowners normally heat the water supplied to their homes using a storage
water heater. You will note that the storage water heater is constantly heating the water that is
present in the tank. As the water gets used, cold water fills the bottom of the tank and gets heated
in order to keep a desired temperature. In this case, water normally gets heated 24/7.This can make
your energy bills to escalate at the end of the month. You will note that you have to heatthe water
present in the tank so that you can it can ready and hot whenever you need it.
One of the things that you should consider getting for your home is a tankless water heater. You will

It is interesting to note that the tankless water heaters can last up to three times. This means that
once you buy it, it will last for several years. It actually has a lifespan of 20 years.
5. Better warranties.
As we mentioned earlier, the tankless water heater is normally very durable. The longer life
expectancy means that it has a longer warranty. Its warranty is up to 15 years.
6. Compact and saves on space.
You will note that tankless water heaters are normally smaller than traditional heaters. They can
actually be installed in several places. In this case, you will not require a dedicated closet area.

Laughter In Medieval Medicine
The expression, laughter is the best medicine, may be more true than many people think. Even
medieval medicine centered on humor. However, the humor of medieval times did not just come
from the court jester; and, even then, people knew humor was important to their health. One
curious fact is that the word humor in medieval times was tied to the four fluids of the body blood,
phlegm, choler, and black bile (Krsywicka). The people believed all these should be in balance in
the person as well as in their physical world (Cameron, qtd. by Krzywicka). Today most people do
not associate humor to body fluids, but they do associate it with laughter. As medicine has advanced
over the years, doctors have continued to study the humors of then,... Show more content on

Japanese And Japanese American Museum
Extra Credit Assignment: Japanese American Museum On my visit to the Japanese American
Museum I learned plenty of History from a culture that I would have never pictured myself going
into depth with. I learned of the roots of the Japanese, religion, and injustices that they faced
throughout decades. Within all this I also learned what was the communities way of
communication. To begin with, the growing root for Japanese American communities was from
1908 1924. In Hawaiiplantation owners thought that Japanese women should migrate since they
believed the work that women provided was up to par with what they expected. In the Mainland
s men were usually single due to laws prohibiting them from marrying white women. A rising of
a anti Japanese movement called the Gentlemen s Agreement arose in 1907 8 involving
California and Japan, making it so that no more Japanese immigrants would be allowed to
migrate to U.S soil, but a loophole was found that made it possible for women to join their
families across states. Due to traditional marriages of the Japanese custom marriages would be
planned. The way this process went was an exchange of pictures and letters and eventually the wife
s moved the U.S with their future husbands but were married legally in Japan.
Next, the Japanese immigrants culture was being Buddhist, a religion that offers a spiritual path for
transcending the suffering of existence. Some of them integrated Shinto, which was an ancient
religion in Japan and the

The Responsibility Of 911 Attacks
Have you ever think of the US should take the responsibility of 911 attacks? September 11
attacks, the deadliest terrorist attack in world history, were a series of airline hijacking by
nineteen militants of an Islamic extremist group Al Qaeda. The hijackers, along with the suicide
bombers, seized four US commercial jets and crashed them into US s landmarks, Twins tower of
World Trader Center and the Pentagon, at 8:46 a.m. on September 11, 2011. The notorious Al Qaeda
chief Osama bin Laden masterminded the attacks. According to CNN News, the September 11
attackskilled 2,966 people and injured more than 6,000 citizens in New York City (CNN).
Moreover, as reported by Health Department WTC s Health Registry, the attacks brought on the
post traumatic stress disorder, and they concluded that 1,140 people who worked near the
Manhattan and the New York City at the time are diagnosed with cancer caused by exposure to
toxins at Ground Zero (Bendix). On September 11, President George W Bush addressed a
plausible but flawed explanation, America was targeted for attack because we re the brightest
beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining
(The Boston Globe), which indirectly reveals that Bush is blaming Muslims for the fault for 911
attacks. While most of the Americans believe that Muslims are fully responsible for the 911
attacks, the U.S involvement in Middle East affairs and the exploitation of Middle East resources

Essay about Reccomendations for Preventing Crime in...
Topic 4: Felton (1997) argues Future crime policies are likely to turn away from incarceration and
towards prevention . Using your understanding of criminology and the reasons why people commit
crime; provide a recommendation on what action you think the government should take to prevent
crime in Queensland.
Speculation has been raised about whether incarceration is effective for criminal offenders. When
an offender goes against the law, it has been argued that they must take a social debt . Therefore,
they are sent to prison to protect the public community, and to be punished. This solution hopefully
prevents criminals from committing crime. However, future crime policies should turn away from

And our study shows that incentives for graduation and parent training are the two things that work
. The offender(s) and the stakeholders should take this quote into consideration, as they would
discourage incarceration. This would reduce the likelihood of crime being committed. If this
solution is eventually taken into consideration by the government, there will be a dramatic
reduction in crime.
Furthermore, crime policies should turn away from incarceration as it is extremely expensive
compared to rehabilitation and crime prevention programs. It is evident that more and more
people are being incarcerated for committing crime each year. Therefore the government is
having to pay a large amount of money for the offenders to be imprisoned. Crime is currently
costing the Australian government around $32 billion per year. It is approximately $30,000 to
incarcerate an offender, however it is only $5,000 to treat an offender (Drug Policy Alliance,
2005). If this solution gets taken into place, it will negatively impact police officers as there will
be loss of jobs as their job is to imprison perpetrators. Another group of stakeholders that will be
negatively impacted are the victims of crime. As it is likely that only some offenders will be
incarcerated, the victims of crime will possibly be unpleased or stressed. However they must

The annual incidence of ARDS is 13 23 people per 100,000 in the general population and it is
higher in the mechanically ventilated population in intensive care units which represents 16.1%
percent in ventilated. Pneumonia and sepsis are considered as leading trigger of ARDS as
pneumonia represent in up to 60% of patients and may be either causes or complications of ARDS
and according to literature approximately 30% of patients with severe sepsis may develop ARDS or
ALI. Other triggers include aspiration, circulatory shock, mechanical ventilation, smoke inhalation,
trauma especially pulmonary contusion major surgery, massive blood transfusions, drug reaction
or overdose, fat emboli and reperfusion pulmonary edema after lung transplantation or pulmonary
embolectomy. Alcohol excess appears to increase the risk of ARDS. Until the 1990s, majority of
studies reported a 40 70% mortality rate for ARDS. However, 2 reports in the 1990s, one from a
large county hospital in Seattle and one from the United Kingdom, suggested much lower mortality
rates, in the range of 30 40%. Possible explanations for the improved survival rates may be better
understanding and treatment of sepsis, recent changes in the mechanical ventilation, and better
overall supportive care of critically ill patients. (Koh et al, 2012)

primary pulmonary cause, although the recent success of mechanical

Not only it is a major component for bones in humans, it also serves other vital roles. Caffeine
also may contribute to loss of bone by increasing calcium excretion and also a decrease in
intestinal absorption efficiency of calcium (4). Calcium provides structure and hardness in
bones and teeth, it allows muscle to contract and nerves to send signals, makes blood vessels
expand and contract, helps to move blood clots, and it also plays a roles in supporting protein
function and hormone regulation (3). Knowing calcium role, it is easy to see how it can lead to a
decrease in bone density. Inadequate calcium intake can lead to decreased bone mineral density,
which can increase the risk of bone fractures (13). A few ways an agent may increase fracture risk

Case Study: Newsflash! Transport Proteins on Strike!
1. What is the meaning behind the PHOSPHOLIPIDS chant?
Phospholipids make up most of the cell membrane, in a phospholipid bilayer. Phospholipid
molecules form two layers, with the hydrophilic (water loving) head facing the extracellular fluid
and the cytosol (intracellular) fluid, and the hydrophobic (not water loving) tails facing one another.
The cell membrane is constructed in such a way that it is semipermeable, and allows oxygen, CO2
and lipid soluble molecules through easily, while other molecules like glucose, amino acids, water,
and ions cannot pass through quite as easily. That is the meaning behind the chant some things can

5. The movement of oxygen and carbon dioxide into and out of the cell is called gas exchange.
Which two body organ systems are involved in gas exchange? Which type of plasma membrane
transport is used for gas exchange? Is this method best? Explain your answer.
The two body organ systems involved in gas exchange are the respiratory and cardiovascular
systems. O2 and CO2 cross the cell membrane via simple diffusion. Because cells all throughout
the body require oxygen and the removal of carbon dioxide, this simple method of diffusion is the
best way to transport such small molecules over a large area as efficiently as possible.

occurred during the Great Dehydration. Why are sports drinks recommended to prevent, or treat,
dehydration?
The Great Dehydration was a result of a stomach virus which apparently caused the body to lose
water. As the body lost water, water moved out of the cells in attempt to keep solute concentrations
balanced across the cell membrane. Sports drinks contain water as well as electrolytes like

The Safety Of Military Equipment
Aircraft Loadmaster Many people wonder how military vehicles, cargo, people, and other
military equipment ever made it from one place to another without being seen and how this
action is pulled off so smoothly. If people only knew more about the military, they would be
wonderless. The transporting of military equipment is so unique and detailing that if you re not
precise even the smallest mistake can ruin the entire operation. The loading of the planes are
varied depending on the cargo, but wait a second who loads the planes? This is the job of an
Aircraft Loadmaster. They perform multiple procedures which ensure that the planes are loaded
properly so that the passengers make it to their destination safely, develop a positive outcome
from loading an aircraft by taking the procedures extremely cautiously, and making history.
Procedures such as recording the weight of cargo, determines the amount of cargo and
passengers or troops to be loaded and proper placement in aircraft and computes load and cargo

The Impact Of Rock And Roll On Society
Throughout the entire history of Rock and Roll, it is very apparent just how great of an impact
social and cultural change has made on the development of the genre. Society is such a powerful
entity and its influences on art are very often overlooked. If one person has the ability to
independently influence and conduct change, imagine the available influence that is made possible
with society as a whole during notable periods of development and change throughout the history
of America. As discussed in this paper, music has been a collaborative development with several
determining factors. Society, including both black and white individuals, has previously and
continues to develop music into a powerful and meaningful art form. Music allows society an
outlet to express their feelings of sorrow, confusion, and happiness. Rock and Rollcontains several
umbrella sub genres that have made major impacts on the music that is known and enjoyed today.
It is one of the best ways in which to universally connect with other people throughout the world
with common and similar feelings. It helps many people feel as though they are not alone and there
are others out there who are going through similar experiences as they are.
The influence on Rock and Roll by the music that the first Africans brought to the United States is
not always discussed but had a very important impact on the development of this ever growing
genre. This transplanted African music wasn t exactly boogie woogie or

Analysis Of The Poem Mont Blanc
Percy Shelley opens his poem, Mont Blanc by noting how imperative the human mind is in
regard to nature. The first few lines establish a relation that is essential to all life. With these lines
alone, Shelley is pulling from many of the inclinations made by William Wordsworth in his poem,
Tintern Abbey . There is however an expansion made on Wordsworth s affections toward nature
and its aweing power; while Shelley agrees that there is only a small amount of those who can
truly grasp the full intention of what the natural world teaches, he largely finds nature in defiance
with man s own predilections and perceptions regarding its behavior and influence. Mont Blanc
seeks out nature s sublime instead of its lovely and simplistic benevolence. In some ways, Mont
Blanc is a deeper examination and deconstruction of what Tintern Abbey constructs as a beautiful
but surface level and thus shallow perceptionof what nature is capable of at its most powerful, and
then asks how that influences the creative human mind.
Both poems assert in their own ways that we are indelibly at the mercy of learning from nature and
bending to its influence. Our five senses allow us to experience it, but more than that we also
receive emotional stimulation as well. Tintern Abbey achieves an essence of the sublime by
memory sustained and perfected through the combined power of the human mind (especially one
of poetic fancy) and nature s beautiful force something of meditation. Wordsworth

The Gospel According To Matthew Research Paper
The Gospel According to Matthew was written at a time of uncomfortable tensions. People had
pride for their Jewishness but hated the Jewish establishments. They believed that the way to
heaven was not with Jewish institutions but rather with the people and an allegiance to Jesus. The
Gospel According to Matthew was almost an attempt to respond to the crises posed by the
destruction of the temple. The community the Gospel of Matthew was for was a community which
is both faithful to its scriptural heritage and open to the new directions demanded by Jesus
proclamation of the kingdom of heaven, and therefore necessarily expanding beyond the bounds of
the Jewish people. The Gospel According to Matthew was written for a Jewish group, which...

Though it couldn t have been written in Jerusalem since it was written after the Jewish war which
means there were very little, to no, Jews there and the city was destroyed for the most part. If it was
written somewhere else in Palestine it would have not been written in Greek, but rather Aramaic
which was the language of Palestine at that time. Since it was written in Greek it is highly unlikely
that Matthew was written anywhere in Palestine. The next possibility for the location of Matthew s
authorship is Caesarea Maritima, which would make sense since there is a lot of conflict in
Matthew with the Pharisees and formative Judaism. Those who lived near Palestine felt this
conflict and since Caesarea Maritima is near there this conflict would make sense for a Gospel
written in such a location. Though it is highly unlikely that the Gospel was written there since the
population was mostly gentile. This is because during the Jewish war most Jews that lived in
Caesarea Maritima were either killed or left because they felt threatened. The next possibility as to
where the Gospel was written is somewhere in Syria, outside of Antioch, since this is one of the last
remaining options that make sense. More specifically scholars think that it may have been written
in northeastern Syria since there is a connection between the M material found in Matthew and
certain eastern religious traditions in Mithraism, Zoroastrianism, and Buddhism. However the
problem with this hypothesis is the language in this area is Syriac, not Greek. Since Matthew was
written in Greek it is highly unlikely it was written in Syria outside of Antioch. This leads to the
best option as to where Matthew was written, Antioch on the Orontes. The strongest argument for
this location is since the author is not certain, in order for Matthew to have become so popular and
later be accepted as Apostolic the

The Importance Of Tenure In Public Schools
Once a person decides to make teaching their career choice their next steps are to research all
aspects of the position. Among one of the first things a teacher investigates is the obtaining of
tenure. Tenure is important because it provides a sense of security for the teacher. The securing
of tenure means that as long as a teacher performs their duties in an effective manner they will
have job security. An increase of tenured teachers on a staff means that you have an abundance of
experienced teachers on your staff. These teachers therefore have acquired a great deal of
knowledge and expertise. These teachers can serve as role models and support new staff members.
These tenured teachers also become the academic leaders of the schoolserving as professional
development team leaders, grade level chairpersons and general all around support for the school.
Many principals however, have a problem with a staff of teachers with tenure. As a principal, this
means that you must handle these teachers a little differently because they are the underlying
instructional leaders of the school. As principal, this means that you have to present new ideas and
strategies to your tenured staff a little differently because if they object to the ideas you cannot
dismiss them or fire them without due process (Essex, 2012).
Tenure in Public Schools Tenure in public schools has to be provided by state statute (Essex,
2012). Most tenure laws are designed to protect good teachers. The

The Vietnam War 1954-1975
The Vietnam War of 1954 1975 was the longest and one of the most unsuccessful wars in U.S
history. It took place in countries such as South Vietnam, North Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. The
war was a huge blow to the United States pride and military, so much that there were lotteries for
soldiers. There were five presidents in office during the war, but the main presidents that had a big
impact on being involved were Dwight Eisenhower, Lyndon B. Johnsonand Richard Nixon.
Although the objectives of the U.S being involved were good intentioned, there are many reasons to
support that it was an Unjustifiable war due to the casualties. While looking at present information

The Islam Of Islam And Islam
It is interesting to note that in the religion of Islam today, there is a general that women are
considered to be oppressed and deprived from becoming successful and powerful women. There is a
claim within the Muslim community that Islam helped to elevate the status of woman with the
creation of the religion in 610 A.D. The Muslim woman in Islam, specifically the married Muslim
woman is not protected in Islam through the Quran. They are not considered to be of equal status
of their male counterparts.. Many people in Islam believe that women are supposed to be seen and
not heard. A woman in their opinion has no voice within the religion and are not on equal footing as
men. It is my belief that due to the strict teachings of the Quran and Hadith, the status of women
within the religion has placed restrictions and limitations on them. Their position in society has not
improved or elevated. Women in Islam have no more religious freedoms today than they had before.
Whether you are a mother, wife, daughter, or a sister in Islam, you are looked at differently.
According to Islamic scholars, the Quran protects them. Some of these Quranic verse include: And
say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they
should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear thereof; that they
should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands,

Design Proposal Report For Fatigue Monitoring System
Design Proposal Report for
Fatigue Monitoring System (FMS)
By Alvin Kuan, Sarah Fink, Shian Su and Suliman Altaleb
1. Abstract
This paper presents some background briefing, implantation, ethical responsibility, and action plan
of FMS design plan. FMS is a model purposely designed to detect and measure fatigue variables,
i.e., blinking rate, yawning rate and head tilt for fatigue predictions. In addition, FMS will
establish a crude estimate of fatigue and warns the user if a threshold has been exceeded. This
FMS will provide real time measurements of fatigue which, if integrated with good risk
management practice, will result in reduced and controlled recurrence of serious safety incidents.
The focus the project is to understand and appreciate the essential components in designing
successful and commercially viable device. This system employs non invasive electrodes which
are positioned specifically for each of blinking and yawning tests in order to attain
electrocardiogram signals accordingly. FMS is also able to detect head nodding patterns via a gyro
sensor specifically located to monitor axial coordination of head.
1. Background
Fatigue results in an impaired decision making and judgment, slowed reflexes and responses,
absent mindedness, memory lapses etc. Fatigue is often a root cause of major accidents. Fatigue
is believed to be the reason of more than 20% of road fatalities in Victoria Fatigue related accidents
are more likely to result in fatalities

Body Language Of A Silent Film
Language developed tremendously through the use of silent films in the 1800s and early
1900s. A silent film is that which consists of only the picture, and no sound. This was an era of
truly transformative filmmaking, forcing writers and producers to have to step out of a
comfort zone in order to allow purely visual expressions to touch their audiences and convey
their stories. This was achieved through a greater emphasis on facial expressions and body
language. Firstly, one of the greatest movies in the silent era was that by Keaton, Sherlock Jr.
This film encompasses all the core principles of telling a story through silence and overcoming
the cinematic boundaries of its day. The key to achieving this is through the direct
expressiveness of the body language of the actors alongside the plot and how Keaton
specifically selected the scenes. The film begins with a love story between a wealthy girl
(Kathryn McGuire) and a projectionist at a local movie theatre. His dream to become a detective
is what drives the film. A memorable scene in the movie is that in the candy shop when Keaton
goes to buy the chocolates for the girl. This was performed entirely in pantomime, allowing the
audience to get in touch with the film, and comprehend his desperation to woo the girl. He
shadows Crane, who is larger in size than he is, mimicking his body language and gestures. This
was done using a tracking shot. Keaton s framing techniques were clear enough to tell the story,
particularly when

Natural Rights Vs Transcendentalism Essay
The American philosophy of the 18 century emerged as an outstanding phenomenon that has made
an immense contribution to the development of the American state. The two most prominent
personalities with respect to the development of philosophical ideas were Thomas Jefferson and
Ralf Waldo Emerson with their theories of natural rights and the view of Transcendentalism
respectively. While both of their philosophies have developed to become equally important as a
basis of the American country, its principles of life, and the idea of an American person, they
reflect on rather different aspects and promote quite different outlooks on the personality. The
theory of transcendentalism promotes an idea that a person is complete in himself or herself and
needs to listen to his or her intuition and to act in a harmonious way. The idea of natural rights, in
contrast to the previous one, refers to the existence of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The natural rights by Jefferson proclaim that the rights are given by God, and people are not
empowered to break them. At the same time, transcendentalism was developed as a search for
spirituality and the revealing of religion. They examined the role of religion in the life of people
and sought for the ways to reach actual spirituality that, according to transcendentalists, was hidden
in the person s thoughts and soul. At the same time, the transcendentalism and natural rights tend to
be rather different. For example, while transcendentalism promotes intuition and personal thoughts
as the basis for behavior, the theory of natural rights puts the essential rights of people in the center
and claims that all interactions should be based on it. Hence, the transcendentalists might be said to
promote the strong idea of individualism that might have negative implications for the society while
the natural rights theory provides a basis for the harmonious relationship among the people within

LASIK surgery performed, eighty two percent achieve 20/20 vision or better and ninety nine
percent achieve 20/40 or better (May 60). However, LASIK vision correction is not for everyone.

The cost of LASIK vision correction is not cheap. Prices for the surgery range from $1,200 to
$3,000 per eye (May 92). Some insurance companies will pay for the procedure, but that is the
exception rather than the rule.
Although most results of LASIK surgery have been favorable, many side effects have been noted
along the way. One possible side effect is hazing. Hazing is the term used for a cellular reaction
that occasionally develops in the corneal stroma following surface laser refractive procedures
(May 67). Serious hazing is extremely rare with patients who have chosen LASIK. Patients
experiencing hazing are often told to increase the doses of steroid drops they are using. These
drops are usually enough to resolve the hazing without affecting their vision.
Another possible side effect evolving from LASIK surgery is that of dry eye. Dry eye is
described as grittiness in the eye. This grittiness is usually resolved within the first one to three
months following surgery. In a survey of 550 patients done by Dr. Robert Maloney, forty to fifty
percent noted experiencing dry eyes three months following their surgery. All patients should be

The understanding of the idea of the Dirty South and southern rap in general has found the
articulation in stereotypes of the south: the emergence of the idea represented a shift in already
established geographical imaginary of hip hop music which is bombarded with authenticity and
marketability claims (59). Before the idea, southern cities were not completely excluded from rap,
but they were obliged to stick to certain styles and conceptual limits so as to reach a wider music
authenticity for their own economic prosperity (63).
The period of Dirty south saw a substantial growth of major rap label investment in particular the
southern cities (Taylor Virgil 251). Research studies have remarked the dirt south phenomenon as
contradictory and paradoxical about its music and place (251). For some scholars, the stylistic
distinctions between the produced music in different geographical areas are not avoidable to the
shifts in economical and political context (Dyson 64). The connections between styles of music and
its origin appear to be more organic because of the ways in which they are layered; the styles and
origin makes meaning through repetition and establishment of implicit and explicit links (66).
Since the emergence of Bronx in 1970s, rap industry has centrally focused with place based
industries. Geography has played an important role in conception of authenticating the
characterization of rap genre

India s Tobacco Advertising Ban
India s Tobacco Advertising Ban
The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that worldwide, five million tobacco users die
annually and estimates that one million Indians die each year prematurely from tobacco use
(2015). As late at 2009, India was the world s second largest consumer and third largest producer of
tobacco (Economist, 2009, p. 5). In an attempt to reduce consumption, India introduced its first
adverting ban on tobacco in 1990, followed in 2003 by the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products
Act (COTPA) to close loopholes and further regulate tobacco adverting. This paper examines the
arguments for and against these advertising bans and explores whether or not tobacco creates a
conflict of interest when governments profit from the tobacco industry.
For the Ban
The most compelling reason to ban tobacco advertising is the growing body of evidence linking
tobacco ads to increased tobacco use, particularly children. Studies following a 1998 settlement
prohibiting U.S. tobacco companies from targeting American youth have shown a steady decline,
with the lowest levels in forty years of teenage smoking reported in 2015. Despite COTPA, Indian
youth s exposure to cigarette advertising has increased in part because of aggressive point of sale
marketing, promotional support of music and sporting events, through social media, and smoking
portrayed in Bollywood films. Multiple authorities agree that a ban on tobacco advertising has to
be all encompassing and free from

When you think of cowboys you think of a hero, someone who seeks adventure and thrill. But
things might not be always as it seems. A cowboy s life is not the joyous, adventurous existence
shown in the moving pictures (Bill Haywood). A true definition of a cowboy is a man, who herds

and ignore the reality. In the 19th century, people thought to believe that the United Stateswas

Introduction:
Talent management is defined as the strategies and practices needed to identify, develop, attract
and retain skilled workers of value to an organisation. (Rands 2009). It can be described as a
holistic approach to the strategic management of the organisation s employees. Organisations need
to view their people as investments which add value to the company and not as costs which take

They have more favourable views of the management team and develop a great sense of pride in

They believe that their work performance is evaluated fairly and they experience strong feelings of

Development Issues:
There are a number of development issues associated with talent management. At the top end of an
organisation, the ability to make strategic decisions, react quickly to situations of ambiguity and
keep the company focused during periods of intense pressure and change, is seen as crucial. At a
time when the need for talented leaders and management is increasing rapidly, big companies are
finding it increasingly difficult to attract the right kind of people. Even if the best talent can be
recruited, retaining them is proving to be an even more difficult challenge again. Holding on to
their top talent requires more than just financial incentives. Despite record bonuses, the Financial

The Between Greek And Egyptian Civilizations
The Earth has been around for a long time. Humans have been around for a long time. America
has been around for a long time. However, these long times are on vastly different timescales, and
are not even close to being comparable to each other. To human minds, however, it would seem as
though anything beyond the scope of their lifetime blends into a series of events on a page. The
years before their birth sticking together into an amalgam of history, distorted beyond recognition.
We place prominence on events which have taken place recently, while discounting the vast eons
between the ages of the distant past. It may seem as though an eternity has passed between now and
1945 for the centenarian, but even the oldest amongst us would see the time between the foundation
of the greek and egyptian civilizations as having a length much less than the 2500 years that
separate the two. Two varieties of ancient hominids may seem to be virtually contemporaries, when
they are in actuality over a million years of evolutionremoved from one another. Humans have many
methods to describe large numbers mathematically. Ever since the invention of the concept of zero
essential to the ancients in keeping good records of various transactions humans have been using
mathematics to describe ever larger quantities of items. The ancient story of the king and the

The Pros And Cons Of The Death Penalty In The United States
The death penalty is still in use in the united states. The state with the most executions is Texas
with a total of 545 from 2017 to the year 1976 (Number of Executions, 2017). The death penalty
is a very big debate. There are many reasons why and why people do and don t like the death
penalty.
States With Death Penalty
There are currently 31 states with the death penalty. The states are Alabama, Louisiana,
Pennsylvania, Arizona, Mississippi, South Carolina, Arkansas, Missouri, South Dakota, California,
Montana, Tennessee, Colorado, Nebraska, Texas, Florida, Utah, Nevada, Georgia, New hampshire,
Virginia, Idaho, North Carolina, Washington, Indiana, Ohio, Wyoming, Kansas, Oklahoma,
Kentucky, And Oregon. All of these states have lethal injection. Three have hangings. Eigth have
electrocution. Three have lethal gas. Two have firing squad. There are eighteen states without the
death penalty. The states are Alaska, Michigan, Vermont, Connecticut, Minnesota, West Virginia,
Delaware, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Hawaii, New Mexico, Illinois, New York, Iowa, North Dakota,
Maine, Rhode Island, Maryland Massachusetts.Maryland was the most recent to abolish the death
penalty in the year 2013.
Cons of Death Penalty.
Their a many cons to the death penalty. One is that during lethal injection does not always work
and by that I mean that many things could go wrong. A few things are that they always can t find
a vein. This happens because heroin and drug users, their veins go deep because of the drug abuse.
Also not always the drugs injected work the the inmate could stay awake and see and feel
everything. This is very painful if you didn t know. According to the New Republic a inmate named
Angel Diaz was sentenced to the capital punishment by lethal injection. The execution went
completely wrong. The IV was inserted incorrectly and that cost the vein to burst. Diaz skin
started to turn black and parts of his skin turned pink. Diaz started to ooze a pinkish liquid. Diaz
suffered a painful death and that went against the 8th amendment cruel and unusual punishment.

and the creation of the Sieve of Eratosthenes, along with a number of other inventions,

How does this quick sense of love assist readers in enjoying this rather embellished sense of love

be very effortless. In this effortless since of love readers can take an enjoyment from the humorous,
peculiar, and unexpected effect of sudden love.
However, what would love be without tribulations? In middle age love stories disastrous
consequences provide readers with high expectations for the lovers within their risky
relationships. In the story of Equatin , a woman falls in love with her mistress and the two ponder
up a plan to kill her husband by scalding him in boiling water (59). Unfortunately, for Equatin and
his lover, the king discovers there secret and the two are scorched to death.
Furthermore, what would love be if one could not gather any satisfaction from this event? In The

Personal Narrative- Nearly Fatal Car Accident Essay
The fluorescent lights blinded me as I tried to open my eyes. Where am I, I thought to myself? I
jolted my head back and forth desperately trying to figure out where I was. I heard a voice say,
Hold him down, we are almost there. A sharp pain ran down my back to my feet. All I could see
were lights flashing and shadows moving in all directions. The rolling bed that I was on stopped
abruptly and a mask was placed over my face. I tried not to breathe, but in less than a second I was
unconscious. In no apparent order multiplescenes began to flash through my head. My thoughts

When I got to the golf course I met up with my friends. We checked into the pro shop, bought some
golf balls, and headed to the first hole to begin. All through the round every shot felt so familiar.
After the round, my friend Alan and I went into the nineteenth hole to get something to eat.
Hey Logan, what s on for tonight, where are we throwin it down?
I looked at Alan as if he was joking around. I was positive that we had already talked about what

I heard about a party out at Bud Lake. Let s get some refreshments and party at my house while my

A Study On Game Theory
In economics, there are many subfields of study and one that has the most difficulty and importance
is the study of game theory. From the beginning of economics, mathematical concepts and
analyzing people s behavior have been tools to determine the choices people will make in a buyer
and seller market. The most influential person in game theoryis without a doubt John Nash. John
Nash came up with the Nash equilibrium, which is used in everyday Intro to Game Theory courses
across the United States. However, Nash s idea for non cooperative games came about in the mid
20th century, so before then there were many other game theorist who provided their outlook on
how to solve complex games. Furthermore, there are many economist that are... Show more content

Hence, Nash s creation of non cooperative game theory should be looked upon as game theory s
most brilliant idea ever thought of in economics. On the contrary, the father of economics, Adam

Also, Adam Smith influenced other economist to apply mathematics to their own theories. The
Nash equilibrium can be a useful tool to conduct an analysis on incentives in social institutions and
also how simplistic the Nash equilibrium can be, and it is obvious to say how astonishing that this
concept was not thought of before John Nash. Moreover, the first application of Nash equilibrium
in a mathematical model comes from Augustin Cournot. In 1838, Cournot published a book on
economics that produced the theory of oligopolistic firms that includes monopolists and perfect
competitors. On a side note, Cournot is known for being the founder of oligopoly theory, but to
give him credit for non cooperative games would be to confuse its methodology with its general
formulation (Morrison). He came up with the oligopoly equilibrium by conducting an analysis on

Sealed Air Coporation Case Study Essay
1.0INTRODUCTION The Sealed Air corporation is committed to market leadership through
technological innovation. Ten years ago, the company was first to market with a highly successful
coated air bubble packaging protection product, AirCap. However, market trends indicate a rapid
displacement of coated bubble by a technologically inferior yet inexpensive uncoated product.
Burgeoning demand for uncoated bubble poses a direct threat to the long term viability of the
technologically superior, premium priced AirCap. Thus Sealed Air is situated at a critical
standpoint. It can either continue to deal exclusively in the manufacture of high end coated bubbles
emphasizing performance over price, or segment the market by introducing an... Show more content

As a result, larger distributors typically carry competitive products. Margins on product resale is
generally higher than 10%. The proliferation of packaging products and poor product education
has caused confusion among end users. US consumers have traditionally viewed packaging
supplies as a cost saving resource. Consequently, packaging engineers are accorded high status
and influence roughly 40% of material purchase decisions. The US market is experiencing strong
growth, driven in part by the growth of the coated and uncoated bubbles segment. However,
AirCap s market share remains stagnant (Appendix A). It is apparent that a growing segment of
end users are willing to forgo product quality for a lower price. European firms, in particular, are
price conscious and less technically oriented; many firms view packaging supplies as expendable
commodities. This has enabled manufacturers of technically inferior, inexpensive uncoated bubble
to co opt AirCap customers with increasing success (Appendix B). 2.2 Competitive

The Importance Of Cultural Awareness In Saudi Arabia
Cultural awareness starts with the understanding of the country in general, its people, and events,
which have taken place there. Culture is a complex concept, defined by the combination of values,
customs, and beliefs of the society, which characterize different groups of the community and
guides their behavior. Culture applies to each person, who is considered as a member of a group,
who live in the particular society (Eliot, 2014). Cultural awareness is the understanding of the
traditions of another culture and the ability to accept them (Clervaud, 2016). Living in the
contemporary world, where globalization has occupied many spheres of human life, cultural
awareness is a significant part of the successful cooperation. Saudi Arabiais a country with a specific
culture, and its influence all over the world has increased significantly due to oil deposits and a
considerable jump in economic development (Malachova, 2012). Even though religion is one of the
central spheres in Saudi Arabia, cultural awareness of this country can be achieved by
understanding the particular characteristics of a region, its geography and military features, human
relations and behavior.
Since culture is explained through the understanding of the region through studying its values and
traditions, it possesses some particular characteristics. Thus, it is possible to learn any culture; one
can easily share culture with others (Eliot, 2014). Culture integrates into a person and its activities.

Justification by Faith
JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH
An Apologist View
Professor John Markley
BIBL 425 ROMANS
BY
KELLY RANDALL
JUNE 2012 Introduction
Dating to the writing of the book of Romans there has been a basic misunderstanding as to what
Paul meant by justification by faith. The Jewish culture had been educated in the law and yet the
Gentile culture was being instructed that the law was death. The Jewish community was confused
and aghast that God would justify sinners. Nonetheless that is exactly what Paul said God would
do and he would do it based on the simple faith of the believer.
Our early church fathers also struggled. Martin Luther and other reformers emphasized justification
over salvation by works. In response the Catholic Church ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Other Words to Define Sometimes when we hear the word justification we find it accompanied by
other ation words: sanctification, glorification, propitiation, regeneration and imputation. These
words are from time to time used interchangeably. This can be confusing and needs to be clarified
before continuing. Imputation is where credit has been given. It can also mean to lay responsibility
on someone. With God, imputation is where He accounts righteousness to the believer.
Sanctification is separate from justification. Justification is about one s position with God;
sanctification is about one s spiritual condition. Propitiation is defined in Reformation tradition
as the satisfaction of divine wrath upon sin . Regeneration is the creation of a new heart and
new spirit. This change of heart and spirit is what allows us to live righteous lives. Glorification
comes once we receive our heavenly reward. It is the completion of our salvation. Righteousness
is another word that may be misunderstood. It involves our dealings and relations with others.
When we behave in a righteous way, it is because we are consistent in every given circumstance in
regards to others. God is our example of righteousness. He is the same yesterday, today and
tomorrow. Even the devil cannot call into question that God is righteous in all his dealings.
Wrath of God God s righteousness can also be seen in his wrath. We first see the wrath of God in
the Old Testament.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Millennials
The Great Recession was an economic crisis that caused the housing market to crash, and many
people suffered greatly because of this event. The generation to feel the recession s effects the
worst though was the Millennials, people born from around 1981 to 1997. Many Millennials
became unemployed and where scared from this event, causing them to lean heavily on the
government for support. Today, Millennials, also known as Generation Y or Echo Boomers, are
marked by their increase in the use of social media and other communication devices to stay with
the advancing times, however the economic troubles have stayed with them despite the
generation s growing use of technology. Millennials have been late to buy houses compared to
other generations, and this is due to the Great Recession. Buying a house has many advantages
and disadvantages, however buying one later seems to be hurting the Echo Boomers. The
benefits of buying a house stretch far beyond simply having a private place to stay; a house has
many economic benefits as well. Most things that people buy, like cars or phones, depreciate in
value, meaning that the longer a person keeps the item, the more its value will decrease. On the
other hand, a house appreciates with time, meaning its value grows as more time passes, making
buying a house a sound and smart investment. Even if a person did not want to keep their house,
they can typically sell the house for more than they bought it for. Furthermore, houses bring
financial stability that many other living arrangements cannot provide for residents. When
someone buys a house, he or she normally goes to a bank, takes out a loan, and uses the loan with
some of their own cash to ease the burden of their purchase, and afterwards, the person must pay
back the loan in amounts called mortgages. These mortgages are regular payments of a fraction of
the loan, and the amount does not fluctuate much, allowing the owner to know ahead of time what
the next payment will be. Rent payments may shift drastically from one payment to another, and
this may surprise the renter if they are not prepared like the homeowner. Also, owning a house give
the owner tax deductions, which can further help a person manage their

African American Mckinley Campaign
According to Gosnell, William Mckinley won a significant number of votes from lower and
middle class members because of the amount of Republican propaganda his campaign used.
Mckinley supported by upper class members had more capital to campaign and was able to reach
a broader audience. Candidate Bryan was only able to reach a small portion of the masses
(Gosnell, 131). William Bryan was not given any money by Democratic politicians or
newspapers, he had to take the train and was known as a tireless speaker. Mckinley on the other
hand made speeches from his front porch in Canton, where aided by his campaign manager
Hanna was able to draw in contributions (McSeveney, 177). In Shephard s article, it is pointed
out that Hanna offered free and discounted fares to Mckinley s speeches. Gosnell suggests that the
race might have gone differently if Bryan had funds as his Republican counterpart. However
according to another source, Bryan did receive lots of media coverage through his speeches and
was able to convey his message to voters (Harpine, 292).
Republicans used patriotic symbols to associate Mckinley as ... Show more content on

  • 3. Definition Of Drunk Driving People often get confused with the different terms used to describe or classify drunk driving. The fact is that there really is not much difference between them. Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Driving Under the Influence (DUI) are the same but some states use one term while another state uses the other term. Some states use the term OUI which stands for Operating under the influence. All three terms refer to the same offense of drinking while driving. DUI is the most widely used term for drunk driving. DWI is less common but is used in New York, Texas, and Missouri. OUI is more commonly used in the North eastern States including Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island. There are also other terms used by some states such as OWI (Operating While Intoxicated), OMVI (Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated), DUII (Driving under the influence of an intoxicant), DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired), and DWUI (Driving While Under the Influence). Drunk driving is a persistent problem on our roads today. In Kansas City especially, the prevalence of drivers who act negligent and get behind the wheel while being intoxicated continues to increase. Drunk driving incidents are especially observed during holidays such as Independence Day, St. Patrick s Day and Cinco de Mayo. On St. Patrick s Day alone, police officers got 41 drunks out of 1300 vehicles that were checked. In 2016, there were 999 DUIs and this number did not include North KC, Jackson County, and other nearby areas. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Class Differences In Education Since 1918 How have class and gender affected educational experiences since 1918, and has this changed over time? In 1917, during a speech at Newcastle, English historian, educator and politician H. A. L. Fisher argued that Education was an important tool in creating a harmonious and equitable society; a society free from class preconceptions and bias. Fisher stated, Education dispels the hideous clouds of class suspicion and softens the asperities of faction (cited in Simon, 1965, p. 344). In the same year, members of the Workers Educational Association (WEA) made a statement declaring their wish to eliminate inequalities within higher education, stating that they are united in the desire to bring within reach [...] the Higher Education which has hitherto been too much the privilege of the few (Reported in The Highway, February 1917, cited in Simon, 1965, p. 329). Yet, for the next fifty years, the class division, factions and inequalities noted in 1917 by Fisher and the WEA would continue to permeate the English education system, with social class and gender continuing to shape educational experiences. Considering this, this essay will explore how issues of class and gender have affected educational experiences in the years since 1918, with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 8. Laughter In Medieval Medicine The expression, laughter is the best medicine, may be more true than many people think. Even medieval medicine centered on humor. However, the humor of medieval times did not just come from the court jester; and, even then, people knew humor was important to their health. One curious fact is that the word humor in medieval times was tied to the four fluids of the body blood, phlegm, choler, and black bile (Krsywicka). The people believed all these should be in balance in the person as well as in their physical world (Cameron, qtd. by Krzywicka). Today most people do not associate humor to body fluids, but they do associate it with laughter. As medicine has advanced over the years, doctors have continued to study the humors of then,... • 9. Japanese And Japanese American Museum Extra Credit Assignment: Japanese American Museum On my visit to the Japanese American Museum I learned plenty of History from a culture that I would have never pictured myself going into depth with. I learned of the roots of the Japanese, religion, and injustices that they faced throughout decades. Within all this I also learned what was the communities way of communication. To begin with, the growing root for Japanese American communities was from 1908 1924. In Hawaiiplantation owners thought that Japanese women should migrate since they believed the work that women provided was up to par with what they expected. In the Mainland s men were usually single due to laws prohibiting them from marrying white women. A rising of a anti Japanese movement called the Gentlemen s Agreement arose in 1907 8 involving California and Japan, making it so that no more Japanese immigrants would be allowed to migrate to U.S soil, but a loophole was found that made it possible for women to join their families across states. Due to traditional marriages of the Japanese custom marriages would be planned. The way this process went was an exchange of pictures and letters and eventually the wife s moved the U.S with their future husbands but were married legally in Japan. Next, the Japanese immigrants culture was being Buddhist, a religion that offers a spiritual path for transcending the suffering of existence. Some of them integrated Shinto, which was an ancient religion in Japan and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Responsibility Of 911 Attacks Have you ever think of the US should take the responsibility of 911 attacks? September 11 attacks, the deadliest terrorist attack in world history, were a series of airline hijacking by nineteen militants of an Islamic extremist group Al Qaeda. The hijackers, along with the suicide bombers, seized four US commercial jets and crashed them into US s landmarks, Twins tower of World Trader Center and the Pentagon, at 8:46 a.m. on September 11, 2011. The notorious Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden masterminded the attacks. According to CNN News, the September 11 attackskilled 2,966 people and injured more than 6,000 citizens in New York City (CNN). Moreover, as reported by Health Department WTC s Health Registry, the attacks brought on the post traumatic stress disorder, and they concluded that 1,140 people who worked near the Manhattan and the New York City at the time are diagnosed with cancer caused by exposure to toxins at Ground Zero (Bendix). On September 11, President George W Bush addressed a plausible but flawed explanation, America was targeted for attack because we re the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining (The Boston Globe), which indirectly reveals that Bush is blaming Muslims for the fault for 911 attacks. While most of the Americans believe that Muslims are fully responsible for the 911 attacks, the U.S involvement in Middle East affairs and the exploitation of Middle East resources sparked off ... Using your understanding of criminology and the reasons why people commit crime; provide a recommendation on what action you think the government should take to prevent crime in Queensland. Speculation has been raised about whether incarceration is effective for criminal offenders. When an offender goes against the law, it has been argued that they must take a social debt . Therefore, they are sent to prison to protect the public community, and to be punished. This solution hopefully prevents criminals from committing crime. However, future crime policies should turn away from incarceration and work more to preventing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And our study shows that incentives for graduation and parent training are the two things that work . The offender(s) and the stakeholders should take this quote into consideration, as they would discourage incarceration. This would reduce the likelihood of crime being committed. If this solution is eventually taken into consideration by the government, there will be a dramatic reduction in crime. Furthermore, crime policies should turn away from incarceration as it is extremely expensive compared to rehabilitation and crime prevention programs. It is evident that more and more people are being incarcerated for committing crime each year. Therefore the government is having to pay a large amount of money for the offenders to be imprisoned. Crime is currently costing the Australian government around $32 billion per year. It is approximately $30,000 to incarcerate an offender, however it is only $5,000 to treat an offender (Drug Policy Alliance, 2005). If this solution gets taken into place, it will negatively impact police officers as there will be loss of jobs as their job is to imprison perpetrators. Another group of stakeholders that will be negatively impacted are the victims of crime. As it is likely that only some offenders will be incarcerated, the victims of crime will possibly be unpleased or stressed. However they must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Alcohol excess appears to increase the risk of ARDS. Until the 1990s, majority of studies reported a 40 70% mortality rate for ARDS. However, 2 reports in the 1990s, one from a large county hospital in Seattle and one from the United Kingdom, suggested much lower mortality rates, in the range of 30 40%. Possible explanations for the improved survival rates may be better understanding and treatment of sepsis, recent changes in the mechanical ventilation, and better overall supportive care of critically ill patients. (Koh et al, 2012) We noticed that most deaths in ARDS are related to sepsis or multiorgan failure rather than to a primary pulmonary cause, although the recent success of mechanical ... Phospholipids make up most of the cell membrane, in a phospholipid bilayer. Phospholipid molecules form two layers, with the hydrophilic (water loving) head facing the extracellular fluid and the cytosol (intracellular) fluid, and the hydrophobic (not water loving) tails facing one another. The cell membrane is constructed in such a way that it is semipermeable, and allows oxygen, CO2 and lipid soluble molecules through easily, while other molecules like glucose, amino acids, water, and ions cannot pass through quite as easily. The movement of oxygen and carbon dioxide into and out of the cell is called gas exchange. Which two body organ systems are involved in gas exchange? Which type of plasma membrane transport is used for gas exchange? Is this method best? Explain your answer. The two body organ systems involved in gas exchange are the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. O2 and CO2 cross the cell membrane via simple diffusion. Because cells all throughout the body require oxygen and the removal of carbon dioxide, this simple method of diffusion is the best way to transport such small molecules over a large area as efficiently as possible. 6. • 19. Analysis Of The Poem Mont Blanc Percy Shelley opens his poem, Mont Blanc by noting how imperative the human mind is in regard to nature. The first few lines establish a relation that is essential to all life. With these lines alone, Shelley is pulling from many of the inclinations made by William Wordsworth in his poem, Tintern Abbey . There is however an expansion made on Wordsworth s affections toward nature and its aweing power; while Shelley agrees that there is only a small amount of those who can truly grasp the full intention of what the natural world teaches, he largely finds nature in defiance with man s own predilections and perceptions regarding its behavior and influence. Mont Blanc seeks out nature s sublime instead of its lovely and simplistic benevolence. In some ways, Mont Blanc is a deeper examination and deconstruction of what Tintern Abbey constructs as a beautiful but surface level and thus shallow perceptionof what nature is capable of at its most powerful, and then asks how that influences the creative human mind. Both poems assert in their own ways that we are indelibly at the mercy of learning from nature and bending to its influence. Our five senses allow us to experience it, but more than that we also receive emotional stimulation as well. Tintern Abbey achieves an essence of the sublime by memory sustained and perfected through the combined power of the human mind (especially one of poetic fancy) and nature s beautiful force something of meditation. People had pride for their Jewishness but hated the Jewish establishments. They believed that the way to heaven was not with Jewish institutions but rather with the people and an allegiance to Jesus. The Gospel According to Matthew was almost an attempt to respond to the crises posed by the destruction of the temple. The community the Gospel of Matthew was for was a community which is both faithful to its scriptural heritage and open to the new directions demanded by Jesus proclamation of the kingdom of heaven, and therefore necessarily expanding beyond the bounds of the Jewish people. If it was written somewhere else in Palestine it would have not been written in Greek, but rather Aramaic which was the language of Palestine at that time. Since it was written in Greek it is highly unlikely that Matthew was written anywhere in Palestine. The next possibility for the location of Matthew s authorship is Caesarea Maritima, which would make sense since there is a lot of conflict in Matthew with the Pharisees and formative Judaism. Those who lived near Palestine felt this conflict and since Caesarea Maritima is near there this conflict would make sense for a Gospel written in such a location. Though it is highly unlikely that the Gospel was written there since the population was mostly gentile. This is because during the Jewish war most Jews that lived in Caesarea Maritima were either killed or left because they felt threatened. The next possibility as to where the Gospel was written is somewhere in Syria, outside of Antioch, since this is one of the last remaining options that make sense. More specifically scholars think that it may have been written in northeastern Syria since there is a connection between the M material found in Matthew and certain eastern religious traditions in Mithraism, Zoroastrianism, and Buddhism. However the problem with this hypothesis is the language in this area is Syriac, not Greek. Since Matthew was written in Greek it is highly unlikely it was written in Syria outside of Antioch. This leads to the best option as to where Matthew was written, Antioch on the Orontes. The strongest argument for this location is since the author is not certain, in order for Matthew to have become so popular and later be accepted as Apostolic the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. The Importance Of Tenure In Public Schools Once a person decides to make teaching their career choice their next steps are to research all aspects of the position. Among one of the first things a teacher investigates is the obtaining of tenure. Tenure is important because it provides a sense of security for the teacher. The securing of tenure means that as long as a teacher performs their duties in an effective manner they will have job security. An increase of tenured teachers on a staff means that you have an abundance of experienced teachers on your staff. These teachers therefore have acquired a great deal of knowledge and expertise. These teachers can serve as role models and support new staff members. These tenured teachers also become the academic leaders of the schoolserving as professional development team leaders, grade level chairpersons and general all around support for the school. Many principals however, have a problem with a staff of teachers with tenure. As a principal, this means that you must handle these teachers a little differently because they are the underlying instructional leaders of the school. As principal, this means that you have to present new ideas and strategies to your tenured staff a little differently because if they object to the ideas you cannot dismiss them or fire them without due process (Essex, 2012). A silent film is that which consists of only the picture, and no sound. This was an era of truly transformative filmmaking, forcing writers and producers to have to step out of a comfort zone in order to allow purely visual expressions to touch their audiences and convey their stories. This was achieved through a greater emphasis on facial expressions and body language. Firstly, one of the greatest movies in the silent era was that by Keaton, Sherlock Jr. This film encompasses all the core principles of telling a story through silence and overcoming the cinematic boundaries of its day. The key to achieving this is through the direct expressiveness of the body language of the actors alongside the plot and how Keaton specifically selected the scenes. The film begins with a love story between a wealthy girl (Kathryn McGuire) and a projectionist at a local movie theatre. His dream to become a detective is what drives the film. A memorable scene in the movie is that in the candy shop when Keaton goes to buy the chocolates for the girl. This was performed entirely in pantomime, allowing the audience to get in touch with the film, and comprehend his desperation to woo the girl. While both of their philosophies have developed to become equally important as a basis of the American country, its principles of life, and the idea of an American person, they reflect on rather different aspects and promote quite different outlooks on the personality. As late at 2009, India was the world s second largest consumer and third largest producer of tobacco (Economist, 2009, p. 5). In an attempt to reduce consumption, India introduced its first adverting ban on tobacco in 1990, followed in 2003 by the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) to close loopholes and further regulate tobacco adverting. This paper examines the arguments for and against these advertising bans and explores whether or not tobacco creates a conflict of interest when governments profit from the tobacco industry. For the Ban The most compelling reason to ban tobacco advertising is the growing body of evidence linking tobacco ads to increased tobacco use, particularly children. Studies following a 1998 settlement prohibiting U.S. tobacco companies from targeting American youth have shown a steady decline, with the lowest levels in forty years of teenage smoking reported in 2015. Culture is a complex concept, defined by the combination of values, customs, and beliefs of the society, which characterize different groups of the community and guides their behavior. Culture applies to each person, who is considered as a member of a group, who live in the particular society (Eliot, 2014). Cultural awareness is the understanding of the traditions of another culture and the ability to accept them (Clervaud, 2016). Living in the contemporary world, where globalization has occupied many spheres of human life, cultural awareness is a significant part of the successful cooperation. Saudi Arabiais a country with a specific culture, and its influence all over the world has increased significantly due to oil deposits and a considerable jump in economic development (Malachova, 2012). Other Words to Define Sometimes when we hear the word justification we find it accompanied by other ation words: sanctification, glorification, propitiation, regeneration and imputation. These words are from time to time used interchangeably. This can be confusing and needs to be clarified before continuing. Imputation is where credit has been given. It can also mean to lay responsibility on someone. With God, imputation is where He accounts righteousness to the believer. Sanctification is separate from justification. Justification is about one s position with God; sanctification is about one s spiritual condition. Propitiation is defined in Reformation tradition as the satisfaction of divine wrath upon sin . Regeneration is the creation of a new heart and new spirit. This change of heart and spirit is what allows us to live righteous lives. Glorification comes once we receive our heavenly reward. It is the completion of our salvation. Righteousness is another word that may be misunderstood. It involves our dealings and relations with others. When we behave in a righteous way, it is because we are consistent in every given circumstance in regards to others. God is our example of righteousness. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. The generation to feel the recession s effects the worst though was the Millennials, people born from around 1981 to 1997. Many Millennials became unemployed and where scared from this event, causing them to lean heavily on the government for support. Today, Millennials, also known as Generation Y or Echo Boomers, are marked by their increase in the use of social media and other communication devices to stay with the advancing times, however the economic troubles have stayed with them despite the generation s growing use of technology. Millennials have been late to buy houses compared to other generations, and this is due to the Great Recession. Buying a house has many advantages and disadvantages, however buying one later seems to be hurting the Echo Boomers. The benefits of buying a house stretch far beyond simply having a private place to stay; a house has many economic benefits as well. Most things that people buy, like cars or phones, depreciate in value, meaning that the longer a person keeps the item, the more its value will decrease. On the other hand, a house appreciates with time, meaning its value grows as more time passes, making buying a house a sound and smart investment. Even if a person did not want to keep their house, they can typically sell the house for more than they bought it for. Furthermore, houses bring financial stability that many other living arrangements cannot provide for residents. When someone buys a house, he or she normally goes to a bank, takes out a loan, and uses the loan with some of their own cash to ease the burden of their purchase, and afterwards, the person must pay back the loan in amounts called mortgages. These mortgages are regular payments of a fraction of the loan, and the amount does not fluctuate much, allowing the owner to know ahead of time what the next payment will be.
