What Is Listening To Your Voice
Listening to Your Voice
How many of us actually listens to the person we are having a conversation with? Really listen?
Not just to the actual words that they are saying but also to the hidden language that is often
referred to as body language .
Listening this is an active process. It involves the use of many of our senses not just hearing the
obvious one. What tone of voice are they using? What expressions are on their face? What are the
surroundings like in which the conversation is taking place? A place of peace or a place of
conflict? How many individuals are in the room? Is the conversation in person or taking place
virtually? What are the ages of the individuals? What is the relationship like between the
individuals or the group who are talking? All of these factors and many others will ... Show more

The conversation must have a goal a purpose for the meeting to occur. Do you know what the
agenda is? Is it a spontaneous conversation? Your physical body may be in the location that you are
having the conversation in, but where is your mind? To really listen to, the mind and the body must
be both present in the same location.
Listening to your... Now this is the core of the conversation. We need to listen to someone else. We
need to have a dialogue and not a monologue. Too often we are not really listening to the other
person but formulating our own ideas in our mind. Listening is an unselfish act, as we are putting
the needs of another person above our own. We are letting them know that they truly matter; that we
value their time and ideas, which they are sharing with us. In an ideal situation we will both benefit
from the conversation.
Listening to your voice. When we think about these words we automatically think about the vocal
voice. What about the unspoken voice? The communication that takes place between individuals
with looks, gestures, specific habits? The use of Sign Languages? The use of the Morse code? Do
these not all have A

Same-Sex Discrimination Essay
The main issues of this legislation revolve around commerce and federal preemption. From the
cases discussed in lecture and discussion, there are two cases that have a strong, direct correlation to
the cases and many others that have a secondary or weaker correlation to the legislation. Windsor
(2012) has the greatest correlation because of the topic at hand. Windsor challenged the
constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) citing that the act discriminated against
the ability of Edith Windsor to collect her spouse s estate by imposing estate taxes that other non
same sex couples were not subject to. There were three questions at hand; one regarding the

Lopez (1995) handled the issue of carrying a gun in a school zone and whether Congress had the
ability to regulate that. The court, in a 5 4 decision, said no, that the act of carrying a gun does
not substantially effect commerce. Congress overstepped its bounds. Justice Breyer dissented
claiming a three prong approach of which the court should consider significant effect , the act as a
whole, and whether Congress had a rational basis. Morrison (2000) struck down, in a 5 4 decision,
the constitutionality of the Violence Against Women Act claiming that the there is no activity
regulated that can be argued under the Commerce Clause. Justice Breyer s dissent points out the
mountain of data showing the effects of violence against women on interstate commerce and that
the court should defer to Congress. Gonzalez (2005) supports Congress s Commerce Clause
powers by finding the Controlled Substances Act constitutional and Justice Steven s opinion
stated that Congress had the power to regulate local activities that are part of a class of activities.
Swift (1904) questioned the ability of Congress to regulate a meat trust but the 9 0 decision
solidified Congress s ability to regulate commerce due to the indirect and direct affects on
interstate commerce. Here we see the beginning of the stream of commerce. Schechter (1934) is
opposite of this decision. The poultry in this case was found to not have entered the stream of

Technology, Medicine, And Player Safety
As I begin the research for this paper, I want to know what has occurred in the sports world that
has caused some of my favorite elite players to get hurt and never be able to play the game with the
same passion. Players such as Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls and Victor Cruz of the New York
Giants have had to deal with some terrible injuries, but why? Aren t sports supposed to get safer as
time moves on because as time progresses so should advancements in technology, medicine, and
playersafety? Before I even start researching anything about this topic I know that kids have
started to train differently. They train more like professionals, and are really pushing themselves
to outwork others. I also know that some of the most devastating injuries are knee injuries. Players
such as Derrick Rose who are known for their speed and explosiveness lose confidence in their
knees once the injuryhappens there is no turning back. I also think that players are playing the
sports with a different mindset. They are more aggressive and have different capabilities
compared to the old school athletes. After doing all my research I hope to learn what athletes may
be doing wrong at the get go that makes them more susceptible to injuries. I hope to see why there
is an increase in major injuries and what may change must happen to stop this epidemic. Hundreds
of millions of people on this earth enjoy sports, whether they sit back on their couch and watch the
game on the TV, or are actually

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Traditional Infrared Touch...
Traditional Infrared Touchscreens
Touchscreen interactive devices have become increasingly important in both consumer and
commercial applications. They re a large component of many everyday devices from your mobile
to your chromebook. They re electronic visual displays that can detect the presence and location of
a touch within the display area (Bhalla, 2010). There is considered four different groups of
touchscreen technologies each with its distinct advantages and disadvantages with some of the
variations containing sub groups within them: Capacitive, surface acoustic wave (SAW) and
infrared (Bhalla, 2010). The focus of this article will be on infrared touchscreens, specifically
traditional infrared touchscreens. Traditional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The projecting mechanism of the IR touchscreen consist of Infrared LEDs, which lines two adjacent
side of the screen s bezel and the receiving component, that are commonly phototransistor, lines the
side opposite to the LEDs (Walker, 2012). Starting with the receiving component, the
phototransistor, it is a transistor that is sensitive to light. The basic concept that paved the path for
phototransistors was uncovered by Albert Einstein in his Nobel prize winning 1905 paper
(Handbook of Photoelectric Sensing, 1993). Einstein made the bold proposal that light traveled
through space in concentrated bundles (Known today as protons) (Handbook of Photoelectric
Sensing, 1993). Einstein also outlined how protons when striking materials liberate photoelectrons,
and the energy from the photoelectrons can be used to create a small current (Handbook of
Photoelectric Sensing, 1993). The property of a small current being produced by the striking of
photons exploited by transistors in order to create the photodetector, the phototransistor. In 1948, a
year after the transistor was invented, John Northup Shive created the first example of a
phototransistor where he used a beam of light instead of a wire as the emitter of a point contact
transistor, generating holes that flow to the collector (Electronic Circuits and Diagram Electronics
Projects and Design, 2013). The first application of the

Social Construction Theory Of The National Football League
Recently, an increasing number of African American football players have been leaving their
respective colleges with years of eligibility left, to pursue a dream of playing in the National
Football League. This year alone, 101 athletes will be forgoing their remaining years of college
eligibility to enter the NFL draft. Thus representing a staggering increase from the 40 early entrants
in 2007 (Heitner). This decision seems deceptive, in that it appears explicitly based on utility
maximization and the traditional economic theory of Becker and Stigler. That model does provide
an adequate explanation based on set universal preferences with efficiency determining the price of
commodities. However, I believe that it is more accurately modeled as a function of a socially
constructed framework of choice. Berger and Luckmann s social construction theory presents the
opportunity to understand more fully the background of these athletes that shapes their decision
making process. In my analysis, utility maximization is embedded within this social construction
framework. Given this, not only can we understand the conventional economic reasons for this
decision, but also the socialization that shaped the individuals to that point. I will demonstrate that
the choices of these athletes can be analyzed by taking into account how each person s preferences
and efficiency is molded by their socialization. To prove the value of my approach, I examine cases
chronologically, delving into the

Examples Of Extra Sensory Perception
Have you ever felt like you knew what someone was going to say before they said it? Did your
dreams ever come true? Or have you ever had a vision of something and you have witnessed in
reality? Most of us have experienced one or more of these types of events, which is called
ExtraSensory perception .
What is ExtraSensory Perception or ESP?
ESP or Extra Sensory Perception is defined as ability of a person to receive or sense information
without the aid of using their five senses see, hear, smell, touch and taste. According to the Journal
of Parapsychology, it is defined as the response to an external event not presented to any known
sense. ESP is also referred to as a sixth sense, gut instinct or hunch.

The Importance Of The Green Environment
Society as a whole is struggling to balance old dominant western environment ideals with new green
environment ideals. As science shows the effects of climate change, and the detriments of a
Western consumerist culture on the environment, many people are shifting towards a more green,
eco friendly philosophy. This shift of being conscious of the environment, has prompted some
people and companies to make honest changes to preserve and help the environment. This starting
shift in society of being eco friendly has prompted many businesses to jump on this trend, as it looks
better to consumers and often saves or makes the companies money. Despite, this new societal shift
toward a green paradigm, many parts of society want to hold onto to dominant western ideals of
controlling and using the environment s resources to the advantage of humans. Society is currently
wrestling, with whether to follow the ideas of the dominant western paradigm, or the newer green
paradigm. Many parts of society are shifting towards a green paradigm, but is this for genuine
environmental reasons, or to make money and products, that continue to feed into the consumerism
ideals of the old dominant western paradigm? The dominant western environmental paradigm can
be described as, the anthropocentric belief that humans are separate from and superior to the natural
environment, which has status only as resource or commodity available for exploitation through
technology. It has no intrinsic worth.

Introduction
1.1.Motivation
The topic of this project is hardware implementation of communication platform for consensus
based control in power systems. Because of the capacity of existing electric power distribution is
nearly full, it is a trend to develop grid technology and enhance the intelligent level of power system
[1]. Therefore, it is necessary to integrate and coordinate distributed generation (DG) effectively.
Development of smart grid is becoming a popular and inevitable trend. The development of
distributed generation has changed the traditional mode of power supply and utilization. And
intelligent control of electrical devices can minimize the power consumption and reduce the
operating cost. It is much economic and energy conservation.
However, there is a factor that limits the present implementation of existing hierarchical control in
smart grid. Because the voltage in each DG s terminal is different, the accuracy of reactive power
sharing is low [2]. Based on this problem, this project

The Friar In The Canterbury Tales
The first characteristic of the Friar is his greed for monetary gain. Superficially it seems that he
is a man who begs for the poor, for his survival, hearing the confessions of sinners but it is
obvious the Friar is quite covetous and materialistic. He absolved sins freely when rewards are
involved. If a man paid coin to the Friar as penance he knew the man s repentance was sincere.
This is an example of the politics of the church in Chaucer s time when religion meant much to
the people, which in turn meant greedy men could act as paid saviors. Although a friar s job was
to beg for the poor, the Friar used his position as a beggar for his own personal gain. He also used
his skill of talk and courteousness to obtain coin from even the poorest... Show more content on

In fact, all of the previous examples highlight not only other characteristics but his insincerity
and falseness as well. It is described many times how the Friar kept company with people of
means than the sick, poor and beggars. He begged in the name of the poor but did not associate
with those he supposedly begged for. The guise under which the Friar lived and worked proved
him to be a false man. The insincerity of the Friar is exemplified in his tale as well. His tale is
about a thieving and lecherous summoner; this displays his distrust of the position of a
summoner; most likely because the role of a summoner impedes on his financial gain. This
feeling of distrust was mutual between the Friar and the Summoner, which is explained possibly
by not only greedy clergy men but issues of too many religious positions. Most importantly his
tale shows the Friar as a hypocrite. After he finishes his tale the Friar asks everyone listening to
pray for the summoners of the world to repent their evils but his words are not genuine or heartfelt.
On the surface the Friar may seem like a semi trustworthy man but his traits reveal hypocritical

The Symbol Of Christmas In Grecian Home
In the county of Greece, St. Nicholas is called О†ОіО№ОїП‚ О’О±ПѓОЇО»О·П‚. His clothes are
soaked with brine and his beard is dripping wet. As the protector of sailors and seamen, his face is
covered with perspiration as he tries to reach sinking ships and save men from drowning.
Christmas trees are not traditional symbols in Greek homes. Rather, the symbol of Christmas in
Grecian homes is a clay bowl with a piece of wire suspended across the top. Hanging from the wire
is a sprig of basil tied around a wooden cross, and below the cross, to keep the basil fresh is a bit of
holy water.

Narrative Essay About My Butterfly
There was a time when my butterfly flew away. Before, I met a very special person. Really, my
attention was on his easy going personality, goodness and charisma. On those Summer days, the
garden was full of colored flowers. Constantly, the sun went down and the moon came out; the
wind was fresh and our hearts betrayed. After, I met with my butterfly in the back room.
Automatically, he embraced me in his warm arms; my heart shake and my desires sprouted. There
were shivering and sweating. However, inside the small chamber lusting vanished; every time, I
realized, it went too far. Every morning, he looked at me and apologized. we didn t mean to hurt
anybody; it was just a magic attraction. In many other occasions, I met with my butterfly in the
back room to talk and share about feelings.
One day, in the small alcove, my butterfly touched my neck and hair, I never met a person like
you, you are so different , he said; in a sweet and slow tone of voice. He pulled me into his arm,
we touched each other, we detailed how much we missed and loved. There was a front window,
where we walked to see the flowers in the garden. A white sheer hanged from the highest point of
the wall, it flew all around, the wind blew and the curtains fell on top of us. This is when he
kissed me, ecstasy was so high; it was difficult to stop. Silently, the flowers smell so sweet and the
wind kept blowing, while, the sheers wrapped us; we laughed and hug each other. Then, I removed

Style Theory of Leadership
According to Harold Koontz, leadership is defined as an art or process of influencing people so
that they strive willingly and enthusiastically towards attainment of group goals .
According to Yukl (1994), leadership is a process which one member of a group influences other
group members towards attainment of specific group goals .
Thus, leadership is a process of influencing the behavior of people by making them strive
voluntarily towards achievement of organizational goals. The above definition focuses on certain
important features of leadership Leadership indicates ability of an individual to influence others

Specifically, consideration was more strongly related to the individual. In other words, the
followers or leaders who were high in consideration were more satisfied with their jobs and more
motivated and also had more respect for their leader. Initiating structure was more related to higher
levels of group and organizational productivity and more positive performance evaluations.
In a large correlational study, Fleishman and Harris (1962) reported that turnover rate was
negatively correlated with consideration, and positively associated with initiating structure,
although they emphasized the nonlinearity of the relationships. Also grievance rates are higher
when leaders are high on initiation. There appear to be certain critical levels beyond which
increased Consideration or decreased Initiating Structure have no effect on turnover or grievance
rate. In a summary of literature, Yukl (1989) reports that the effect of consideration has been
confirmed, but the results of studies on initiating structure have not been clear or consistent.

magazines, movies, ... and even [brand name] bottles and cans to convey a message about the artist
s views on society. Using bold coloured paintings, soft sculptures, and printmaking, artists would
create facsimiles, similar reproductions of popular merchandise and collages. The purpose was to
emphasize the banality of any given mass culture. This was a response the post war conservative

Arguably one of his most famous pieces of art, Whamm! displays this method of painting. Those
methods make the panels look different from the original panels but remarkably similar at the same
time. By designing his subjects the way the mass media portrayed them, rather than attempting to
accurately reproduce the subject Lichtenstein helped define the Pop Art movement. David
Hockney was an English artist who worked in Los Angeles. Hockney was well trained in many
different studios, including lithography, painting and photocollage. Hockney experimented with
all sorts of ideas, including an entire painting in mainly warm colours and done in reverse
perspective. A lot of his older work also dealt with issues that were previously shunned by most of
society and made slight references to his homosexuality. However, it is the fact that his painting
Typhoo Tea was one of the first to incorporate a brand named product, which shows Hockney
helped inspire the movement to become as large as it became globally. Andy Warholis probably the
most infamous artists to emerge from this time period. Not only was Warhol a painter, he was also
a commercial illustrator, avant garde filmmaker, record producer, and author. His affection for
consumerism and pop culture led him to create pieces of controversial art that is still popular today.

Department Business Targets Into Our Daily Routines
department business targets into our daily routines. Using the MBO methodology of collaborative
planning GTPLS Gippsland operation has developed an activity based strategic plan that focuses
on our efforts towards the delivery of specific outcomes. These outcomes will in turn, lead to the
achievement of our goals and reaching the company s vision.
The success of this plan / strategy relies on a commitment to implementation and regular monitoring
of our progress no matter what we strive to achieve with the business planning process it will
become an exercise in theory unless there are mechanisms by which progress towards our stated
outcomes are reviewed and measured. To that end, the introduction of performance measurement is
the key to this plan and The Company s financial management (including contracted accountant)
will be responsible for collation of data and monitoring of business plan activities for presentation at
proposed monthly management meeting s with the key performance information being formally
reported to management and GTPLS staff at that time.
While dedicated planning is essential, rigid adherence to a faulty plan will lead to poor
performance or failure. A key aspect of successful planning is ongoing evaluation and flexibility,
and it is intended that this plan will be reviewed on a regular basis. This will ensure that all key
business targets and activities remain appropriate mechanisms for achieving both company s sales
targets and strategic goals.

Overview of Criminal Profiling Essay
Being a criminal profiler is not like it is on all the television shows, but it is still an interesting
and important job. Criminal profilers have been used to close many police and federal cases.
They work in several homicide cases involving rape, racial killings, brutal killings, and involving
serial killers. They help make it easier for the police to find the right person by examining the crime
scene. Being a criminal profiler is a tough job but with hard work and dedication it is a great
career choice. A criminal profiler gives a description of what they think the suspect looks like and
acts like. They do this by examining the scenes of where the victims were murdered and looking
for clues on why the suspect did it, how they did it,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A criminal profiler can work for the state, federal, or local law. Many work for the FBI, CIA, and
as private investigators. They can also work as an independent consultant or at colleges.
Criminal profilers are also able to testify in the court room (CriminalJusticePrograms). Some
personal qualifications to be a criminal profiler are they must be able to examine gruesome
crime scenes and be able to deal with appalling killers; having a weak stomach would not be
good for this job. They must also be well organized and ready for some tough work (Denis). An
overemotional, easily spooked, or somebody who does not understand others emotions well
would not be a good match with this career. Somebody with a logical mind and enjoys solving
puzzles would fit much better in this career (Dwilson). Not all profilers fit in these
characteristics but it will help one understand if they could be a potential good match. I would
only recommend people if they have the right temperament and personality: you cannot be timid
or scared in this line of work (Wilson). Educationally there is not a certain degree one needs to take
because this field is so small. There are several different options to choose from. Taking courses in
topics of police investigation or death investigation is a good start. Having a master s degree or a
Ph. D will improve the chances of finding somewhere to get a job. Most profilers have a degree in

even more evident when the dreaded C word, also known as cancer, struck the body of Henrietta
Lacks. After complaining of an invasive pain in her lower abdomen and excessive blood secretion,
Henrietta went to the only hospital that treated African Americans with illnesses of that magnitude.
At Johns Hopkins Hospital, Howard Jones cut a small sample of Henrietta s cervix and sent it to
the pathology lab. After a few weeks of testing, Henrietta received a call requesting that she return
to Hopkins to begin her cancer radiation treatment. During Henrietta s first radiation treatment, the
surgeon on duty Dr. Lawrence Wharton Jr., picked up a sharp knife and began shaving pieces of
tissue from her cervix without receiving patient s consent.
As preposterous as it sounds some medical professions believed that Henrietta gave consent when
she printed her name on the OPERATION PERMIT form which briefly stated:
I hereby give consent to the staff of The Johns Hopkins Hospital to perform any operative
procedures.
The evocative argument is still unethical and invalid. According to the American Medical
Association, physicians and doctors had to sign some version

Examples Of Honesty In Othello
Othello written by William Shakespeare is a play centered around the theme of fidelity and
honesty. In Iago s own words during act 2 scene 1 lines 223 248. The main villain in this story,
Iago is driven by the way women act. Iago is the main villain throughout the story, he is very
twisted in the web of lies he strings to manipulate the purity of people. His actions are motived by
the jealousy of a main character Cassio, and the anger through his story of an affair between Othello
and his wife.
In Iago s speech, he speaks about the relationship between Othello and Desdemona in the sense
that she will one day get tired of Othello and move on to someone better. He expresses how easily
she fell for Othello and how easily he believes that she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The act of honesty is repeated throughout the story line of Othello, but in different ways. There is
honesty in the commitment of a relationship, honesty between two people, honesty in the truth
about the true character. When Iago is speaking with Roderigo in the speech, his shows honesty
with the idea of Desdemona falling for another guy. In the rest of the story Iago shows to other
people that he is an honest man who people can trust and depend on. Though anyone who is
reading the book can easily see that none of what he says to expresses to other people is truly
honest. Affected by the jealousy of Cassio getting the position, Iago is angered to make a plan to
get the position instead of Cassio. First proving that Cassio is not fit, then pinning an affair
between Cassio and Othello s wife Desdemona. He pins little details like a handkerchief that
Othello gave Desdemona, in Cassio s, then brought Othello to see that. Once he has Othello
believing his wife was cheating on him, Iago misses that his own wife isn t necessarily on his
side. Iago s wife Emelia ends up telling everyone the truth, sadly after Othello does go unhinged
and kills Desdemona. In the end the story shows that love and honesty go hand in hand.
Dishonesty makes love grow weak, like it did between Desdemona and Othello. Iago s actions
were majorly punishable by death, not getting him what he had wanted. He manipulated so many
people in efforts to get a single position, but ruins everyone s life around him without having a
single care about what he is doing. The idea of honesty is repeated to dramatize the idea of what
happens when honesty is betrayed. If Iago were to have been an honest man, he wouldn t have
made the people around him

Literary Scholarship And Criticism Of Shakespeare s The...
Shakespeare critic and Harvard literature professor, Harold Bloom, asserts that Shakespeare is the
metaphorical inventor of man. Bloom writes:
The plays remain the outward limit of human achievement: aesthetically, cognitively, in certain
ways morally, even spiritually. They abide beyond the end of the mind s reach, we cannot catch up
to them. Shakespeare will go on explaining us, in part because, he invented us (pp. 19 20).
Bloom s audacious evaluation of Shakespeare has been echoed throughout the canon of literary
scholarship and criticism. In fact, Bloom s invention thesis, found in Shakespeare: The Invention of
the Human, represents a culmination of centuries of teaching and reflection upon the famous
English poet s craft. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet: The Prince of Denmark is a hallmark example of Shakespeare s contemplation of social
tolerance and equity in the exploration of human sociology. In this play, we see the malignant
ambition of newly throned King Claudius, the questionable decision making of Queen Gertrude,
and the emotionally preying and encompassing force of murdered King Hamlet s ghost,
construct the grounds for contemplation of human drama; this contemplation is essentially
distilled and literally embodied by the character of Prince Hamlet. Moreover, the truth, hidden at
the onset of this play, sets the internal and external conflict for Prince Hamlet as well as the
figurative stage for a study of human character and action, or alternatively, ego and power.
Prince Hamlet s own ego is festered by the crime against his father: a murder committed by
Hamlet s ambitious uncle, Claudius, whose own ego has led him down a the path of a usurper.
Yet, Shakespeare exposes that the pains of human ego are not morally equivalent between these
two. Hamlet s pain and feelings of slight come at the potential truth that his father was murder. His
ego is that of a wounded sense of self created out of the anguish he feels in his inability to take
deliberate action against Claudius, driven out of the lack of evidence to truly

the discussion and participation grade is the only word that pops out of my head during every

Although participation grade is not based on correctness, I cannot stop worrying about whether
what I am thinking is right or wrong and how people are going to think of my accents. Not only do
students feel stressful in verbal context, they also face difficulties in essays. Because of their
limited vocabulary, students have hard time expressing their knowledge clearly on essay exams or

often confuse international students with their native format of writings (Lin and Yi, Paragraph 7,

according to Lin and Yi, many international students are hired as teaching assistants, and students

In Southern China the weather is very humid with up to 75 inches of rain per year. This moist
weather affects the food their by giving the land very fertile soil, witch is perfect for growing
crops. Because of the warm climate the food there can get spoiled very quickly, as a result the

Why Is Laerte A Noble
Nobility is a trait that many men seem to desire. It is not necessarily genetic nor can one
purchase it like other traits, such as clothing, but rather is earned demonstrated. What makes one
noble is not easily determined, despite being the desire of many individuals. Whether it is nobler,
more honorable, and more admirable to live on one s knees or to die on one s feet has been a
source of debate for centuries. In his tragic play Hamlet, William Shakespeare proves that it is
nobler for one to die for what he believes in than to live in inaction.
Laertes was noble because he died for his cause, avenging his father s death and defending his
father s honor, but he would not have been had he not sought revenge. Towards the end of the play,
Laertes returns from France upon hearing that his father died, but he misses the funeral because of

Analysis Of Alexis De Tocqueville s Life
It was Monday, October 27th, 2014; Alexis De Tocqueville was casually heading down to the
local election hall in Toronto for the municipal elections occurring that night. As he stepped in
and stood in line for his turn, he noticed two individuals ahead of him. At closer inspection, he
was in awe to realize these two gentlemen happened to be Adam Smith and Karl Marx, two great
philosophers he had always wanted to meet and converse with. Smith and Marx, realizing their
admirer staring, immediately recognized Tocqueville as well and at that moment, all three of
their eyes lit in excitement. After turning in their votes, the three agreed to go to a nearby
restaurant for some nachos because who does not like nachos after voting on a Monday night.
Since they had just come from voting for the elections, it was only appropriate the topic of their
discussion should be something related. De Tocqueville, taking the initiative when they had
settled down, decided to throw a question to Marx and Smith after they had finished snacking on
perfectly dressed nachos and having a few drinks. But before he could, Adam Smith declared he
was too tired to go through what is about to occur, so they decided to just leave him as he passes
out on his seat. Looking at Marx, Tocqueville asked, Well, now that we are here, and have just
finished voting and eating, I would like to ask you and your great mind what you personally think

A Closer Look At Autonomous Vehicles Essay
A Closer Look at Autonomous Vehicles Many great technological feats have been accomplished
in the past few years, one of the most notable would be the creation of self driving cars. Along
with the topic of what can be done with this technology, there is also the topic of what should be
done with the technology from an ethical standpoint. Self driving cars while not perfected are
worth their innumerous benefits, despite the current limitations and drawbacks. Every year there
are numerous incidents where the driver is responsible for a crash or even death. A self driving
car could be the very solution necessary to solving the abundance of accidents that occur daily
across the nation. There are different levels of automation ranging on the amount of the drivers
control of the vehicles. This technology is already being implemented in creative and helpful
ways, and has been successfully tested. Self driving cars are something that s new, it s something
that has only just been implemented in the past few years, and will be continually implemented
and improved upon. Currently autonomous cars are limited to actions such as parallel parking,
brake assist, and lane detection. In the near future experts are predicting fully autonomous self
driving cars with little to no human interaction. Currently self driving vehicles are described from
levels 0 4, 0 being no automated assistance, to level 4 where the car can perform all
safety‐critical driving functions and monitor roadway

Surfactant Lab Report
Surfactant is an essential component for the respiratory system to function properly. This
experiment was done to better understand the functioning of a surfactant. The reason why a
surfactant is needed is to reduce the surface tension of the water molecules that primarily compose
the walls of the alveoli. We used milk and food coloring to represent the water and the gas in the
respiratory system. The milk was placed in a petri dish and drops of food coloring were added into
the milk at the center of the dish. Drops of liquid dishwashing soap, representing surfactant, are
then added to the center as well. Once everything was added we waited two minutes and made
observations. My hypothesis is that when the liquid dish soap is added to the milk... Show more

Gender Roles In Super Hero Films
We all have seen the cultural phenomenon of the super hero film genre. The super hero is
normally portrayed as a masculine male figure dominate figure. The women around the hero are
normally, needing to saved, weak female, or feeble minded female that cannot take care of herself.
Examples of these scenarios can be seen throughout many different super heromovies. For example
Spiderman has to save Mary Jane, or Gwen Stacy, because they are always getting in trouble and
cannot save themselves. Other examples can be seen in the Superman movies. Superman always
has to save Lois Lane because she always gets herself into trouble for being nosy. When a female
does make her way into the superheromovie spotlight they wear sexualized costumes showing of
their assets, just think of Scarlett Johansson character Black Widow, or if you saw the latest
Avengers age of Ultron Scarlett Witch. Their costumes are low cut skin tight and sow their breasts.

Descriptive Essay About Fountain Pen
I ve always enjoyed collecting the finer utensils in life mainly writing and shaving instruments to
be specific (but maybe next year I ll get really into forks and spoons). Between the two of these,
though, my first love was pen collecting.
As a child, I remember hearing my father tell stories about how, when he was younger, he used to
send letters to car companies asking for posters and pins, at one point even receiving a free stamp
in the mail with his name. To this day, he still uses that stamp on official documents.
He inspired then 8 year old Sanjay to write a letter to Nintendo, asking to beta test the latest
DragonQuest game. Since then, I have received over 200 dollars worth of stationery related
product in the mail, all under the same, albeit somewhat cheesy, letterhead: Help! I m a struggling
student who needs a nice pen to improve my grades! Apart from this, I have attended Seattle s
Fountain Pen Club, as the only representative of the under 60 age group, received countless pity
rejection letters from companies too smart for my antics, and a sponsorship from ChopSaver lip
balm. Sure, using fountain pens can be a pain. Having to clean them out with a bulb syringe every
two weeks is no easy task, and the pain that comes with trying to find fountain pen friendly paper
is sometimes so unbearable that I have to resort to using a ballpoint. However, I began to love

Airbags are safety features that are designed to save passengers from harm in a head on
collision. Airbags react within milliseconds of a crash, and the folded nylon bag quickly
becomes inflated with nitrogen gas. The inflated airbag has the role of being a cushion for
passengers and prevents them from hitting into the steering column and dashboard, which can
cause painful injuries for passengers. Airbags were invented by John Hetrick in 1953 after
Hetrick, his wife and young daughter got into a car accident in 1952. The family was driving
around the Pennsylvania countryside when suddenly a huge rock on the road forced Hetrick to
swerve into a ditch. With no restraint systems, Hetrick and his wife had to grasp their daughter

Therefore, the vital component of the airbag system is a sensor that can detect head on collisions
and instantly trigger the airbag s inflation. This crash sensor is a steel ball that slides inside a
smooth bore. The ball is held in place by a permanent magnet or by a stiff spring, which restrain
the ball s motion when the car drives over bumps or potholes. Nevertheless, when the car
decelerates very rapidly, as in a head on crash, the ball swiftly moves forward and turns on an
electrical circuit, initiating the process of inflating the airbag. Once the electrical circuit has been
turned on by the sensor, a pellet of sodium azide, NaN3, is ignited. A speedy reaction occurs,
generating nitrogen gas, N2. The nitrogen gas fills a nylon or polyamide bag at a velocity of 150
to 250 miles per hour. This process, from the initial impact of the crash to full inflation of the
airbag, takes only about 40 milliseconds. Preferably, the body of the driver or passenger should hit
the airbag just after inflation, really while the airbag begins to deflate. If not, the high internal
pressure of the airbag would create a surface a very hard surface that the driver or passenger
would hit into. After an air bag inflates, deflation starts immediately. Deflation occurs when the gas
escapes through pores in the fabric. Deployment is accompanied most of the time by the release of
dust like particles in the

Rhetorical Techniques Used In Frankenstein
In this passage from Frankenstein, author Mary Shelley uses several rhetorical devices to
illustrate Victor s anxieties in the creation of his monster. Throughout this passage, Shelley uses
rhetorical questioning to demonstrate Victor s horror in the awakening of his reanimated corpse.
Shelly writes, How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe, or how delineate the wretch
whom with such infinite pains and care I had endeavoured to form? The rhetorical questioning
used by Shelley puts the reader in Victor s mind, to feel his astonishment at the living beast
before him. The sense of fright with some dread is perfectly depicted perfectly by the use of
rhetorical questioning to show that even the main character, Victor, is not even entirely sure as to
what he has created. Yet another strong rhetorical device in Shelley s writing is her
implementation of vivid imagery. In this passage, Victor describes his ghastly creation, His limbs
were in proportion, and I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful! Great God! Shelley was
aware that the reader was unaware of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is a reference to Dante, a saga of poems used to describe the descend and
ascension into Hell. When referring to the beast, Shelley states, ...it became a thing such as even
Dante could not have conceived. The allusion to Dante s Inferno in this passage effective
demonstrates the hellacious appearance of the creature, and to even go as far as to say that he is
a being straight from Hell. This statement allows the reader s own mind to take over and think for
itself the horrid appearance of the fiend. Furthermore, this allusion also does part in explaining
where Victor may have pulled inspiration from. Although he did not intentionally want to create a
Satanic like figure, he wished to play God and create an image in man s shadow, for his own selfish

Musculoskeletal Disorders Case Study
Case Study #32
Musculoskeletal Disorders
1. An x ray examination of the thoracic spine reveals osteopenic changes at T7. What does this
mean?
Osteopenia means that the bone is thinning which could lead to fractures. Bone thinning leads to
osteoporosis. Decreased bone density occurs as people age. BMD determines bone strength and it
peaks around 25 30 years of age. After these peak years, bone breabsorption exceeds bone building
which causes a decrease in bone density.
Ignatavicius, D., D. Workman, M., L. (2013).
2. The physician suspects osteoporosis. List seven risk factors associated with osteoporosis.
Cigarette smoking
Obesity
Lack of exercise
Postmentopausal
Low calcium intake

Any score lower than 2.5 indicate osteoporosis.
Ignatavicius, D., D. Workman, M., L. (2013).
6. The physician orders alendronate (Fosamax) 70mg/wk. what instructions should you give M.S.
regarding alendronate?
Fosamax is a biphosphonate that is commonly used for the prevention and treatment of
osteoporosis. It would be best to take Fosamax on an empty stomach with plenty of water. Do
not lie down or eat for at least 30 minutes after taking the pill. The side effects for Fosamax are
abdominal pain, bone/skeletal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dyspepsia, and nausea. I would also
tell M.S that osteonecrosis of the jaw may occur after dental extraction, root canal, dental implant
or other oral surgeries. Lastly I would tell M.S. that oral biphosphonates are commonly associated
with a serious problem called esophagitis which is inflammation of the esophagus. If chest
discomfort occurs which is a symptom of esophageal irritation, she should discontinue the drug
and contact her health care provider. I would assess her for poor renal function, hypocalcemia, and
GERD because if she has any of these, she would not be able to take Fosamax.
Ignatavicius, D., D. Workman, M., L. (2013).
7. What nonpharmacolocic interventions should you teach M.S. to prevent further bone loss?
I would recommend decreasing caffeine intake, stop smoking, strength training exercises, walking,
eat dark green leafy vegetables for calcium,

Killing The Buddha Or Becoming One
Killing the Buddha or Becoming One: The long and winding road from early Buddhism to Zen
Zen (Ch. Chan) is a general term for a Mahayana school Buddhism, which emerged during Tang
dynasty China (618 907). Ever since it had crystallized as an independent school of thought, we
witness in Zen a tension between the need to belong to the Buddhist tradition and the urge to revolt
against it. On the one hand, Zen masters had considered themselves, and still do, as direct heirs and
followers of the historical Buddha, and on the other hand order their disciples to abandon the
Buddhist teaching. Thou, somewhat radical, Linji Yixuan (d. 866) famous saying: If you meet a
Buddha kill him (йЂўдЅ›ж®єдЅ›) is a typical example of this approach.
The ambivalence

Limitations Of Regulation Of Private Insurance Systems
Limitations to Regulation Advocates of private insurance systems argue that flaws in the
system can be remedied with regulation of the market or through government subsides to help
the poor afford the insurance (NEED SOURCE). Even with the attempt at regulation of the
private finance system in the US (the ACA and existing Medicaid program), patients still have
limited coverage and accessibility (White, 2013; Garfield and Damico, 2015; Smith and
Medalia; 2015). Regulation through expanding Medicaid has fallen short due to state autonomy
upheld by the Supreme Court ruling; as of September 2015, 20 states refused to adopt the ACA
expansion of their Medicaid programs (Garfield and Damico, 2015). Since ACA envisioned that
the expansion of Medicaid would cover an increasing number of families and childless adults at
a certain percentage of the poverty line, it does not provide financial assistance to people below
poverty for other coverage options (ibid.). The result is a coverage gap where many adults do
not qualify for Medicaid but are below the lower limit for marketplace premium tax credits (ibid.).
Currently, it is estimated that more than 3 million adults fall into this gap indicating that patching
a system of inequity and limited access still results a larger in problems for lower income people
to gain access to healthcare (ibid.). Though the ACA is still the early stages, it appears that even a
radical change in private healthcare financing in the US is not enough to

Keerti s Heavy Influence In Japan
In Japan, many politicians and important people of power are families who have heavy influence
in Japan s economy through companies for products, television, business, and the like. Through
this financial power in advertisements and influence over what can be placed and expressed in
media, there is power over what is considered and thought about within the country. Keerti explains
that this aspect of Japanese life needs to be revised in order to achieve democracyso that all voices
are heard equally and no voices are left or censored out. Keerti also expresses how political
engagement and civics classes are mandatory within secondary school and college in order to
prepare students to become informed citizens. She says there is room for corruption... Show more

One common aspect across the three personalities is the degradation of the power of the rule by
the elite. All three agree that there is no good democracy that comes from a select group. Not
only because it is the elite in Japan, but it is those in power who are the problem. In Japan, a
majority of the House of Chancellors are passed down through bloodline or company relation.
We cannot be certain that those individuals are trained and knowledgeable in the problems in the
political view. However, this also brings up the concern of public awareness of political issues.
Today, according to Ikeda, Kohno, and Yamada s studies on citizen understanding political
concepts between 1960 1990, many Japanese citizens feel that they had no say in political
decision making and that they were not well educated in the policies and issues being discussed.
As we discussed in class, this is a common problem amongst democracy as a whole, not having a
well educated, well informed general public voting. Finally, the aspect of religious liberty brought
within the political spectrum. Although this contradicts John Locke s beliefs of keeping the politic
and religious spheres separate, this unity of religion ties together an ideal form of democracy for all
three individuals. It is through applying Buddhist values into Japanese government that would
provide a sense of patriotism through

Essay on The Punishments of the Medieval era
The Punishments of the Medieval Era When Shakespeare was born in 1564, Queen Elizabeth
had taken power a mere 6 years prior, and her justice system was very different from ours. In this
paper, I hope to explore some of the ways punishments were different, such as how many crimes
had individual punishments, often times depending on how severe the crime was. I will also go
in depth to one of the most infamous cases of the medieval period. Imprisonment was very rare.
If you were in jail, you were there because you were on trial, and you weren t allowed to return
home. Trials were very brief and if you were charged of a felony or treason, you weren t allowed to
have a lawyer. Unsurprisingly, trials were quick, with extremely... Show more content on

The chair would be continuously lowered and raised into a river, as I previously mentioned. The
Cucking stool often drew in large crowds people who would laugh at the person. People who
would be stubborn and not speak at their hearings would be forced to lie on their backs on top of
a large pointy stone, while stones would be continuously put on wooden boards on their chests
until the weight eventually crushed them. Thieves were slightly odd in the medieval times as
far as they re punishments went. Thieves could get their first sentences reduced if they had
learned of the benefits of becoming a member of the clergy. These benefits were lost if these
people were repeat offenders. The theft of farm animals, which was considered a smaller crime,
they would have their left hand burned as a permanent mark of shame. This also would occur if
they had broken into another man s home, but this man didn t feel as if his life was in danger
from the break in. Repeat offenders were sentenced to death. In addition to all of these, people
who took their own lives were to buried with a stake shoved through their graves. At the end of
my look into how justice was served back in Shakespeare s time, I ll give a brief examination of
what many people think of when they hear something about Medieval times, Torture. When John
Gerad, a priest/spy, was captured by Queen Elizabeth s guard, he was spent 3 years in captivity,
until finally he was taken

Players such as Derrick Rose who are known for their speed and explosiveness lose confidence in their knees once the injuryhappens there is no turning back. I also think that players are playing the sports with a different mindset. They are more aggressive and have different capabilities compared to the old school athletes. The projecting mechanism of the IR touchscreen consist of Infrared LEDs, which lines two adjacent side of the screen s bezel and the receiving component, that are commonly phototransistor, lines the side opposite to the LEDs (Walker, 2012). Starting with the receiving component, the phototransistor, it is a transistor that is sensitive to light. The basic concept that paved the path for phototransistors was uncovered by Albert Einstein in his Nobel prize winning 1905 paper (Handbook of Photoelectric Sensing, 1993). Einstein made the bold proposal that light traveled through space in concentrated bundles (Known today as protons) (Handbook of Photoelectric Sensing, 1993). Einstein also outlined how protons when striking materials liberate photoelectrons, and the energy from the photoelectrons can be used to create a small current (Handbook of Photoelectric Sensing, 1993). The property of a small current being produced by the striking of photons exploited by transistors in order to create the photodetector, the phototransistor. In 1948, a year after the transistor was invented, John Northup Shive created the first example of a phototransistor where he used a beam of light instead of a wire as the emitter of a point contact transistor, generating holes that flow to the collector (Electronic Circuits and Diagram Electronics Projects and Design, 2013). • 7. Social Construction Theory Of The National Football League Recently, an increasing number of African American football players have been leaving their respective colleges with years of eligibility left, to pursue a dream of playing in the National Football League. This year alone, 101 athletes will be forgoing their remaining years of college eligibility to enter the NFL draft. Thus representing a staggering increase from the 40 early entrants in 2007 (Heitner). This decision seems deceptive, in that it appears explicitly based on utility maximization and the traditional economic theory of Becker and Stigler. That model does provide an adequate explanation based on set universal preferences with efficiency determining the price of commodities. However, I believe that it is more accurately modeled as a function of a socially constructed framework of choice. Berger and Luckmann s social construction theory presents the opportunity to understand more fully the background of these athletes that shapes their decision making process. In my analysis, utility maximization is embedded within this social construction framework. Given this, not only can we understand the conventional economic reasons for this decision, but also the socialization that shaped the individuals to that point. I will demonstrate that the choices of these athletes can be analyzed by taking into account how each person s preferences and efficiency is molded by their socialization. As science shows the effects of climate change, and the detriments of a Western consumerist culture on the environment, many people are shifting towards a more green, eco friendly philosophy. This shift of being conscious of the environment, has prompted some people and companies to make honest changes to preserve and help the environment. This starting shift in society of being eco friendly has prompted many businesses to jump on this trend, as it looks better to consumers and often saves or makes the companies money. Despite, this new societal shift toward a green paradigm, many parts of society want to hold onto to dominant western ideals of controlling and using the environment s resources to the advantage of humans. Society is currently wrestling, with whether to follow the ideas of the dominant western paradigm, or the newer green paradigm. Many parts of society are shifting towards a green paradigm, but is this for genuine environmental reasons, or to make money and products, that continue to feed into the consumerism ideals of the old dominant western paradigm? The dominant western environmental paradigm can be described as, the anthropocentric belief that humans are separate from and superior to the natural environment, which has status only as resource or commodity available for exploitation through technology. It has no intrinsic worth. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Superficially it seems that he is a man who begs for the poor, for his survival, hearing the confessions of sinners but it is obvious the Friar is quite covetous and materialistic. He absolved sins freely when rewards are involved. If a man paid coin to the Friar as penance he knew the man s repentance was sincere. This is an example of the politics of the church in Chaucer s time when religion meant much to the people, which in turn meant greedy men could act as paid saviors. The insincerity of the Friar is exemplified in his tale as well. His tale is about a thieving and lecherous summoner; this displays his distrust of the position of a summoner; most likely because the role of a summoner impedes on his financial gain. This feeling of distrust was mutual between the Friar and the Summoner, which is explained possibly by not only greedy clergy men but issues of too many religious positions. Most importantly his tale shows the Friar as a hypocrite. The main villain in this story, Iago is driven by the way women act. Iago is the main villain throughout the story, he is very twisted in the web of lies he strings to manipulate the purity of people. His actions are motived by the jealousy of a main character Cassio, and the anger through his story of an affair between Othello and his wife. The act of honesty is repeated throughout the story line of Othello, but in different ways. There is honesty in the commitment of a relationship, honesty between two people, honesty in the truth about the true character. When Iago is speaking with Roderigo in the speech, his shows honesty with the idea of Desdemona falling for another guy. In the rest of the story Iago shows to other people that he is an honest man who people can trust and depend on. Though anyone who is reading the book can easily see that none of what he says to expresses to other people is truly honest. Affected by the jealousy of Cassio getting the position, Iago is angered to make a plan to get the position instead of Cassio. First proving that Cassio is not fit, then pinning an affair between Cassio and Othello s wife Desdemona. He pins little details like a handkerchief that Othello gave Desdemona, in Cassio s, then brought Othello to see that. Once he has Othello believing his wife was cheating on him, Iago misses that his own wife isn t necessarily on his side. Iago s wife Emelia ends up telling everyone the truth, sadly after Othello does go unhinged and kills Desdemona. In the end the story shows that love and honesty go hand in hand. Dishonesty makes love grow weak, like it did between Desdemona and Othello. Iago s actions were majorly punishable by death, not getting him what he had wanted. He manipulated so many people in efforts to get a single position, but ruins everyone s life around him without having a single care about what he is doing. The idea of honesty is repeated to dramatize the idea of what happens when honesty is betrayed. If Iago were to have been an honest man, he wouldn t have made the people around him ... • 23. Literary Scholarship And Criticism Of Shakespeare s The... Shakespeare critic and Harvard literature professor, Harold Bloom, asserts that Shakespeare is the metaphorical inventor of man. Bloom writes: The plays remain the outward limit of human achievement: aesthetically, cognitively, in certain ways morally, even spiritually. They abide beyond the end of the mind s reach, we cannot catch up to them. Shakespeare will go on explaining us, in part because, he invented us (pp. 19 20). Bloom s audacious evaluation of Shakespeare has been echoed throughout the canon of literary scholarship and criticism. In this play, we see the malignant ambition of newly throned King Claudius, the questionable decision making of Queen Gertrude, and the emotionally preying and encompassing force of murdered King Hamlet s ghost, construct the grounds for contemplation of human drama; this contemplation is essentially distilled and literally embodied by the character of Prince Hamlet. Moreover, the truth, hidden at the onset of this play, sets the internal and external conflict for Prince Hamlet as well as the figurative stage for a study of human character and action, or alternatively, ego and power. Prince Hamlet s own ego is festered by the crime against his father: a murder committed by Hamlet s ambitious uncle, Claudius, whose own ego has led him down a the path of a usurper. Yet, Shakespeare exposes that the pains of human ego are not morally equivalent between these two. Hamlet s pain and feelings of slight come at the potential truth that his father was murder. His ego is that of a wounded sense of self created out of the anguish he feels in his inability to take deliberate action against Claudius, driven out of the lack of evidence to truly ... What makes one noble is not easily determined, despite being the desire of many individuals. Whether it is nobler, more honorable, and more admirable to live on one s knees or to die on one s feet has been a source of debate for centuries. In his tragic play Hamlet, William Shakespeare proves that it is nobler for one to die for what he believes in than to live in inaction. Laertes was noble because he died for his cause, avenging his father s death and defending his father s honor, but he would not have been had he not sought revenge. • 39. Noha Airbags are safety features that are designed to save passengers from harm in a head on collision. Airbags react within milliseconds of a crash, and the folded nylon bag quickly becomes inflated with nitrogen gas. The inflated airbag has the role of being a cushion for passengers and prevents them from hitting into the steering column and dashboard, which can cause painful injuries for passengers. Airbags were invented by John Hetrick in 1953 after Hetrick, his wife and young daughter got into a car accident in 1952. Therefore, the vital component of the airbag system is a sensor that can detect head on collisions and instantly trigger the airbag s inflation. This crash sensor is a steel ball that slides inside a smooth bore. The ball is held in place by a permanent magnet or by a stiff spring, which restrain the ball s motion when the car drives over bumps or potholes. Nevertheless, when the car decelerates very rapidly, as in a head on crash, the ball swiftly moves forward and turns on an electrical circuit, initiating the process of inflating the airbag. Once the electrical circuit has been turned on by the sensor, a pellet of sodium azide, NaN3, is ignited. A speedy reaction occurs, generating nitrogen gas, N2. The nitrogen gas fills a nylon or polyamide bag at a velocity of 150 to 250 miles per hour. This process, from the initial impact of the crash to full inflation of the airbag, takes only about 40 milliseconds. Preferably, the body of the driver or passenger should hit the airbag just after inflation, really while the airbag begins to deflate. If not, the high internal pressure of the airbag would create a surface a very hard surface that the driver or passenger would hit into. After an air bag inflates, deflation starts immediately. I would also tell M.S that osteonecrosis of the jaw may occur after dental extraction, root canal, dental implant or other oral surgeries. Lastly I would tell M.S. that oral biphosphonates are commonly associated with a serious problem called esophagitis which is inflammation of the esophagus. If chest discomfort occurs which is a symptom of esophageal irritation, she should discontinue the drug and contact her health care provider. I would assess her for poor renal function, hypocalcemia, and GERD because if she has any of these, she would not be able to take Fosamax. Ignatavicius, D., D. Workman, M., L. (2013). 7. What nonpharmacolocic interventions should you teach M.S. to prevent further bone loss? I would recommend decreasing caffeine intake, stop smoking, strength training exercises, walking, eat dark green leafy vegetables for calcium, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Killing The Buddha Or Becoming One Killing the Buddha or Becoming One: The long and winding road from early Buddhism to Zen Zen (Ch. Chan) is a general term for a Mahayana school Buddhism, which emerged during Tang dynasty China (618 907). Ever since it had crystallized as an independent school of thought, we witness in Zen a tension between the need to belong to the Buddhist tradition and the urge to revolt against it. On the one hand, Zen masters had considered themselves, and still do, as direct heirs and followers of the historical Buddha, and on the other hand order their disciples to abandon the Buddhist teaching. Thou, somewhat radical, Linji Yixuan (d. 866) famous saying: If you meet a Buddha kill him (йЂўдЅ›ж®єдЅ›) is a typical example of this approach. The ambivalence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Limitations Of Regulation Of Private Insurance Systems Limitations to Regulation Advocates of private insurance systems argue that flaws in the system can be remedied with regulation of the market or through government subsides to help the poor afford the insurance (NEED SOURCE). Even with the attempt at regulation of the private finance system in the US (the ACA and existing Medicaid program), patients still have limited coverage and accessibility (White, 2013; Garfield and Damico, 2015; Smith and Medalia; 2015). Regulation through expanding Medicaid has fallen short due to state autonomy upheld by the Supreme Court ruling; as of September 2015, 20 states refused to adopt the ACA expansion of their Medicaid programs (Garfield and Damico, 2015). Since ACA envisioned that the expansion of Medicaid would cover an increasing number of families and childless adults at a certain percentage of the poverty line, it does not provide financial assistance to people below poverty for other coverage options (ibid.). The result is a coverage gap where many adults do not qualify for Medicaid but are below the lower limit for marketplace premium tax credits (ibid.). Currently, it is estimated that more than 3 million adults fall into this gap indicating that patching a system of inequity and limited access still results a larger in problems for lower income people to gain access to healthcare (ibid.). Though the ACA is still the early stages, it appears that even a radical change in private healthcare financing in the US is not enough to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Keerti s Heavy Influence In Japan In Japan, many politicians and important people of power are families who have heavy influence in Japan s economy through companies for products, television, business, and the like. Through this financial power in advertisements and influence over what can be placed and expressed in media, there is power over what is considered and thought about within the country. Keerti explains that this aspect of Japanese life needs to be revised in order to achieve democracyso that all voices are heard equally and no voices are left or censored out. Keerti also expresses how political engagement and civics classes are mandatory within secondary school and college in order to prepare students to become informed citizens. She says there is room for corruption... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One common aspect across the three personalities is the degradation of the power of the rule by the elite. All three agree that there is no good democracy that comes from a select group. Not only because it is the elite in Japan, but it is those in power who are the problem. In Japan, a majority of the House of Chancellors are passed down through bloodline or company relation. We cannot be certain that those individuals are trained and knowledgeable in the problems in the political view. However, this also brings up the concern of public awareness of political issues. Today, according to Ikeda, Kohno, and Yamada s studies on citizen understanding political concepts between 1960 1990, many Japanese citizens feel that they had no say in political decision making and that they were not well educated in the policies and issues being discussed. As we discussed in class, this is a common problem amongst democracy as a whole, not having a well educated, well informed general public voting. Finally, the aspect of religious liberty brought within the political spectrum. Although this contradicts John Locke s beliefs of keeping the politic and religious spheres separate, this unity of religion ties together an ideal form of democracy for all three individuals. It is through applying Buddhist values into Japanese government that would provide a sense of patriotism through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Essay on The Punishments of the Medieval era The Punishments of the Medieval Era When Shakespeare was born in 1564, Queen Elizabeth had taken power a mere 6 years prior, and her justice system was very different from ours. In this paper, I hope to explore some of the ways punishments were different, such as how many crimes had individual punishments, often times depending on how severe the crime was. I will also go in depth to one of the most infamous cases of the medieval period. Imprisonment was very rare. If you were in jail, you were there because you were on trial, and you weren t allowed to return home. Trials were very brief and if you were charged of a felony or treason, you weren t allowed to have a lawyer. Unsurprisingly, trials were quick, with extremely... The Cucking stool often drew in large crowds people who would laugh at the person. People who would be stubborn and not speak at their hearings would be forced to lie on their backs on top of a large pointy stone, while stones would be continuously put on wooden boards on their chests until the weight eventually crushed them. Thieves were slightly odd in the medieval times as far as they re punishments went. Thieves could get their first sentences reduced if they had learned of the benefits of becoming a member of the clergy. These benefits were lost if these people were repeat offenders. The theft of farm animals, which was considered a smaller crime, they would have their left hand burned as a permanent mark of shame. This also would occur if they had broken into another man s home, but this man didn t feel as if his life was in danger from the break in. Repeat offenders were sentenced to death. In addition to all of these, people who took their own lives were to buried with a stake shoved through their graves. At the end of my look into how justice was served back in Shakespeare s time, I ll give a brief examination of what many people think of when they hear something about Medieval times, Torture. When John Gerad, a priest/spy, was captured by Queen Elizabeth s guard, he was spent 3 years in captivity, until finally he was taken ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
