2. A Very Breif Biography of Karl Marx
Karl Marx was born in Trier in Prussia in 1818, and he passed away in London in
1883. The overall approach characterized in Marx s theoretical writings and his
analysis of capitalism can be defined as historical materialism, or the materialist
perception of history. Actually, that view may well be deemed the foundation of
Marxism. Marx contested that the superstructure of society was predicated precisely
by the productive roots of society, so that the main system must always be seen in
relation to the roots. The roots are made up by the means of production, in which
influences of production (land, raw materials, capital, and labor) are combined, and in
which relations among individuals come forth, determined by their relationship to the
means of production. As Marx said in the preface to A Contribution to the Critique of
Political Economy in 1859, The sum total of these relations of production constitutes
the economic structure of society, the real foundation, on which rises a legal and
political superstructure and to which correspond definite forms of social
consciousness. The mode of production of material life conditions the social,
political, and intellectual life process in general. Marx viewed this main system to
consist of the family, the culture, the state, philosophy, and religion.
In Marx s opinion, all the aspects of the main system benefitted the interests of the
strongest class in a society. He saw the class separation in any society beyond a
primitive level

Executive Summary
Business for Lee Valley s gardening line has been stable for the past couple of years,
especially in 2009 and 2010. The number of customers, average yearly order and the
average order value has been the same for these two years. To meet our sales
objective of increasing gross sales by 2.5%, we will be focusing our marketing
efforts on a specific segment. This particular segment consists of individuals who are
over the age of 45 with a passion for gardening.
People in this segment are likely to be retiring in the near future, which implies
that they will have the income and leisure time to work on their gardening
projects. By targeting this segment, we are attempting to increase their average
yearly orders and average order value, which will eventually drive up sales. Since this
group of individuals already possess a strong passion for gardening and are already
Lee Valley s best customers, we believe that the desire and need to purchase
additional products will increase as this segment is retired, or will be retiring in due
course.

4. Tectonic Plates Research Paper
The earth is made up of land masses under the crust called tectonic plates. These
tectonic plates sit on the upper mantle and lower crust also known as the lithosphere.
Tectonic plates are always moving because of the magma churning underneath them
in convection currents. Because the tectonic plates are always moving it can cause
plates to run into each other which means that one must give way to the other and
slide under this can create mountain ranges as the pressure has to do somewhere, this
is called a subductionzone this usually occurs with one oceanic plate being pushed
under a continental plate. Plates can also slide beside each other and get stuck so
pressure builds up and then they will quickly slide past which can cause very major
earthquakes to cities along the plate margins, this is the main cause of earthquakes
this is called sliding plates.

5. Fifty Shades Of Grey Themes
Fifty Shades of Grey is an elaborate film that ties love and romance with bondage and
discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and masochism (BDSM) (Leistner
Mark, 2016). This movie has a push/pull romantic relationship with an university
senior Anastasia (Ana) Steele and a muiti millionaire Christian Grey. Ana and
Christian are instantly attracted to each other however, their relationship throughout
the movie tends to be strictly sexually based. Ana is a hopeless romantic and
Christian is a sadistic lover, which causes Christian to become apprehensive about
Ana and send Ana on a course that ultimately causes her to try everything in her
power to prevent that resistance. This begins to draw them closer together, but Ana
then learns about... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is depicted throughout the entire film, from the first time the main characters
have sex all way to the end of the film. In addition, the role that each gender plays in
the movie is another theme that was portrayed in the film. BDSM within the film is
expressed as pleasurable and something that everyone will enjoy. With all the whips,
toys and ties that are mentioned or said within in the film it sounds amusing for
anyone. In addition, the contract (De Luca Johnson, 201) that is a fundamental base
line for Christian to be involved with Ana is poorly portrayed. Within the movie it is
seen not as a consent between both the dominant and submissive, however it is a rule
that is turned into a living, breathing, and at times uncomfortable interpersonal
experiences (Laurie Kean, 2015). In reality, this consent is something that both the
dominant and submissive agree to that will and will not happen when being involved
in BDSM not something that will alter one s life. BDSM is based on trust and
communication between the dominant and the submissive, which was lacked in the
film. Ana agreed to situations that she didn t know she was putting herself in, for
example punishment that Ana was going to receive because she was out of line (De
Luca Johnson, 2015). Here in the movie it was shown as whipping using a leather
belt on the butt, the tears and faces that she was making whilst it was happening
showed that it was not pleasurable. Here once again, BDSM was not presented
correctly. Research suggests that an important factor in maintaining sexual
satisfaction and relationship satisfaction is being able to communicate effectively
(Leistner, Mark, 2016), this is why at the end of the film, Ana ended the relationship
because communication was not there and she felt hurt and betrayed rather than
6. The Importance Of The English Language
Mother tongue Since the tower of Babel incident, people in the world speak different
languages, some are similar to other, and some completely different. The English has
been around for more than a millennium and half. It derives from Latin, French,
German, and Greek, and some unknown languages. Always keepin its speaker
interested dragging more people to learn the language. The English language has
undergone many transformations from Old English to Middle Age English to
Modern English always policing itself. It has no dialect unlike Chinese, Russian,
Arabic etc.. but different accents which can be hard to understand. It can be a major
problem. English influence in East Africa and South Asia due to Colonization,
British have their own accent but they were teaching their colonies English which
result in a multitudes of accents Our difference makes us powerful. Should people
that learn english learn to speak neutral meaning with no accent or is it too much to
ask? If yes normal is boring. there was a time when strong empire felt the need to
conquer other countries and force them to inhale all the aspect of their culture like the
Ottoman Empire was one of the biggest empire at the time. They influenced a lot of
neighbor countries but did not teach them their language and now Turkey is the only
country who speaks Turkish now they great not teaching their languages, but they still
share some similar customs with other countries. Prejudice is part of our nature, so is

7. Mars Hypothesis
PROBLEM What would be the best, easiest, and cheapest way to get enough water
to healthily sustain a Mars colony of one hundred people for one year? A second
question is, Is there a way to reduce the amount of water used by each human on a
daily basis?
HYPOTHESIS
My hypothesis is that the easiest, cheapest, and most sustainable source of water on
Mars will be filtration of urine. Scientists have already proved that this will work in
space on the International Space Station. A second hypothesis is that the amount of
water needed by humans on mars can be cut in half by making some simple changes.
PROCEDURE
To begin my experiment I will research information of several ways that you could
potentially get water on Mars. I will look at filtration systems, binding of hydrogen
and oxygen molecules and melting of ice that is said to be located on ... Show more

Also for any filter to be useable it has to be able to withstand the trip to mars and the
landing on mars.
Another method worth exploring is the binding of hydrogen and oxygen molecules.
If this works it could potentially be more sustainable and cheaper that the alternative.
For this to work it will need to be proven on earth before going to mars. It also will
need to be made a more simple process. Additionally it will need to be safe to do
within a building. The oxygen and hydrogen would also need to be able to be sent
in a pressurized form. Finally for this to work they would need a safe and efficient
way to transport it to mars. Another way to get water from mars would be the
melting of ice said to be located on the poles of mars. To make this work they
would need to know for certain that there is ice on mars. They would also need to
know how to melt the ice without starting a fire. Also they would need a way to
separate the water from the dirt it is said to be mixed with. Additionally they would
need to find a way to collect the amount of dirt it would take give the entire
population
8. Dependent Personality Disorder Research Paper
Dependent Personality Disorder
And How it can Affect your Daily Life
Everyone has personality traits. Some people are shy while others are outgoing and
some people are optimistic and some are pessimistic. Sometimes it is hard to tell the
difference between a personality trait and a disorder. Personality disordersare
diagnosed when ways of seeing, interpreting, or behaving in the world become
inflexible and maladaptive. A personality disordercauses distress to self or others. A
person with a personality disorder has trouble perceiving and relating to situations and
to people. This causes significant problems and limitations in relationships, social
encounters, work and school (Personality 2015).

Cluster A personality disorders are characterized by odd, eccentric thinking or
behavior. Paranoid personality disorder would fit under Cluster A. Cluster B is the
wild cluster. People with these disorders have very dramatic, emotional or erratic
behaviors. Cluster C personality disorders are characterized by anxious, fearful
thinking or behavior. This cluster includes dependent personality disorder
(Personality 2015).
Dependent personality disorder (DPD) is one of the most commonly diagnosed
personality disorders. The terrifying fear of being left alone and being abandoned
are both signs of DPD. When faced with this disorder you really cling to other
people, usually a significant other. You get self satisfaction by being wanted by
another person. Fourteen percent of people with personality disorders are diagnosed
with DPD (Ekern 2013).
The causes of dependent personality disorder to this day are unknown. Both
biological and developmental factors are most likely involved (Dependent 2015).
There are multiple speculations as to why people obtain this disorder like
overprotective parenting. Also, one s social environment can play a role in DPD. In
all most all cases the patient experiencing DPD has faced some sort of abuse or
trauma, making them stick to another person (Ekern
9. Effectiveness Of The Criminal Evidence Act 2003
The Criminal Evidence Act 1965 was no more than an attempt to fill in the gap and
resolve the problem posed by Myer v DPP. The act rendered certain records of a trade
or business admissible. In practice, the Criminal Evidence Act 1965 gave rise to a
number of problems of its own, which were never solved satisfactorily. The 1965
Act was replaced by the hearsay provisions of the Policeand Criminal Evidence Act
1984, which, in turn, were replaced by those of the Criminal JusticeAct 1988 and
2003.
The Law Reform Committee and Criminal Law Revision Committee provided a
number of reports on hearsay reform. The Criminal Justice Act 2003 introduced
significant reforms to the hearsay rule, implementing, though not entirely, the report

10. Are Tasers Safe
The invention that revolutionized law enforcement was later the most hated weapon
on the market. Tasers send thousands of electric volts through the human body, which
undoubtedly stops the body from moving forward. Taser International introduced the
M26 and X26 to save lives, rather than using a lethal weapon like a gun. The taser
temporarily shocks the body, which helps the policeforce take the suspect into
custody. The documentary, Killing Them Safely, is about the accusations of Taser
International s tasers killing people when they said it was safe. However, if used
correctly, tasers are the safer way to execute police enforcement as well as defend
one s self. (What other information do I put in?) One reason why tasers should be used

On August 9, 2016, a young, black, 18 year old, named Michael Brown, was shot
and killed by a white policeman in Ferguson, Missouri. There had been a robbery
that night, which had two black males as suspects. The police thought Brown had
matched the description and cornered him until other officers arrived on the scene.
Brown had made a run on foot after being grazed by a bullet in the thumb. After
this event, the whole case is based on witnesses. Some witnesses say that Brown
has surrendered and put his hands up, which ended up with him being shot. Others
say he had just started walking toward the officer and then got shot. The policeman
is still unaware if he is guilty or innocent, but what if he had used a taser rather
than a gun? If he were to use a taser, Brown would have most likely dropped to the
ground and the police would have taken him into custody. This could have
prevented the raids that happened only a year after Brown had died. Tasers are
used to save lives that are both innocent and guilty. All police have to make split
second decisions when in a dangerous situation. If they were to make the wrong
one, there are major consequences for the mistakes made. Depending on the
situation, and how serious it is, a taser can be used to save a life and a wrong
decision. When used correctly for only five seconds of shock, there is little to no
injuries to the suspect. There is more of a risk of the police losing the job, then there
is the suspect being not

Introduction Coaching is a very interesting and fun job to be able to do. There are
many things that come with being a coach, good and bad. Getting used to being
around more people and having to teach them plays will be something new to me.
Reasoning behind choosing this career path is because I used to play so I

12. A Realist Look
The End of St. Petersburg: A Realist Look
Two years ago, I made my first film. It was called Freelance and I wanted to make a
more realistic looking film. I don t like quick cutting or jump cuts. So, I wanted to
have longer takes, pans, and medium shots. I would only use close ups only when it
was necessary. I always felt that having too much cutting in a film, jump cuts, and too
many close ups took away from the viewer. I felt that it wouldn t leave any room for
development and give the audience an unsatisfied understanding of the characters
development. Too much cutting would still allow you to watch the whole story,
however it would not let you question any motives or even allow you breathing space

This is where they manipulate the audience and thus preventing them from
formulating their own meanings. As for Realism, the materials in reality should be
able to speak for themselves. Realists strive mainly for allowing the audience to
interpret their work in their own ways, by allowing abstractions, questions, or
interpretations to come out. This is accomplished by intentional ambiguity and not
emphasizing any specific aspects of their film. Realists achieve and rely heavily on
cinematography, not editing, or doing so as little as possible. As for cinematography,
that includes long shots, wide screen, lengthy takes, deep focus, panning, craning, or
tilting.
Realists allow the audience to make observations that they should make and
opinions instead of being guided by a filmmaker s desired reactions. However, a
director should put his personal vision and beliefs into his or her film but let the
people decide what they think. As for me and my film Freelance, I wanted to leave
questions about the people that you see throughout the film. Was there a back
story? Do you feel like the character had some personality? And I left an open
ending to my film. I used everything that a realist would have for the
cinematography. I left out as much as I could for editing. I look back at the 1920s
and 1930s films and I look at Vsevolod Pudovkin s The End of St. Petersburg and I
think to myself Wow, how far we have come to make better

Cloud computing has evolved with the passage of time and has revolutionized the

As a child, I grew up going to church every Sunday and being involved with the
church community. My faith is a large part of who I am today, because as a

15. North America Economic Factors
While the Spanish and Portuguese were first to establish their empires in the new
world, Great Britain is seen as the most successful colonization effort. Great Britain
began its expansion in the seventeenth century and reached its pinnacle in the
nineteenth century. The original thirteen colonies established in North America
primarily defines this expansion. These colonies would grow and through revolution,
would eventually grow to become the United Statesof America.
The establishment of these colonies generally corresponds with Puritan movement
and the subsequent division growing between this movement within Parliament and
the Monarchy under James I and the Charles I. While much of the establishment of
the colonies can viewed as the pursuit of religious freedom from the Church of
England, make no mistake, the roots can clearly be traced back to economic factors
and the pursuit of commerce. The economic factors were not that of the wealth and
gold secured through a similar path found by Spanish Conquistadors, but the pursuit
of land and cheap labor to cultivate the cash crop of tobacco. These economic forces
led to the extermination of native populations and the introduction of importing
slaves to North America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the extent that slaves were not baptized by many of their masters. This pursuit of
economic wealth of the powerful eventually resulted in a 1667 law declaring that

Meningococcal disease is a disease that can be found worldwide. Meningococcal

The first documented outbreak was over two hundred years ago in Geneva in 1805
which circulated rapidly and killed thirty three people. The first case ever recorded in
America was in 1806 in Medford, Massachusetts (Fredericks, n.d.). A European

Africa has the highest incidence of meningococcal disease, tuberculosis, and malaria
because of overcrowding in many villages. There is an area in sub Saharan Africa
called the Meningitis Belt that stretches from Senegal to Ethiopia with over 20,000
reported cases and 2,000 deaths every year (Healthgrades editorial staff, 2015).
During the dry season in Africa, from December through June, meningitis epidemics
occur with the three major areas infected being Burkina Faso, Nigeria, and Chad.
The most recent outbreak of the meningococcal disease reported in the United States
occurred as meningitis in the dorms at the University of California, Santa Barbara

the outbreak occurred at these two universities it was caused from serotype B of the

Joshua Kjerluf Dubrow and Jimi Adams conducted a study on NBA players in
which they coded the player s childhood income status from old news clippings.
They found that an African American child from low income family had a 37%
lower chance of making an NBA roster than an African American child from a
middle or upper income family. A white child from a low income family is 75

2.1 General Introduction Second hand trades have been growing rapidly in the
past __ years. The second hand industry grew at about 7% a year in 2014 and
2015, according to the National Association of Resale Professionals (Narts).
Second hand luxury goods, in particularly, has become a unique segment standing
out among the rest of second hand products. While companies like The Real Real
and What Goes Around Comes Around (WGACA) have been successfully enticed
U.S. customers to sell and buy second hand luxury, they might have left another
huge group of potential customers behind international college students from
China, who carry a stack of cash to the US each year and share a strong enthusiasm
towards luxury brands at a young age like most middle class Chinese. This study
intends to focus on Chinese students studying in the US, their culturally specific
motivations and concerns for shopping second hand luxury so as to provide
insights for local second hand stores to better attract them as potential customers.
2.2 Development of Second hand Stores The second hand trade started during the

Barbarians at The Gate is a prominent book within the financial industry and a great
book to read for a deeper look inside how the private equity world works. The book is
an account of one most famous leveraged buyout cases in the history of private
equity. The story is about the leveraged buyout of RJR Nabisco, Inc. by Kohlberg
Kravis RobertsCo., more commonly known as KKR, a tycoon in the private equity
business in 1988. The book is written by two journalists of the wall street journal,
Bryan Burrough and John Helyar and the chain of articles they wrote about during
the entire longevity of the buyout process, through interviews with the key players
in the deal. For anyone who is interested in the complex yet simple world of
leveraged buyouts, the book is a must read to understand the nature of the deals and
how anything goes and the characters and the psychology of people.
The chieftain of the book is Ross Johnson, the fiery, energetic and entertaining Chief

21. The Deaths And Causes Of The Black Death
The Black Death is a deadly disease that arrived in Europe by sea October 1347. It
was 12 Genoese trading ships that docked at the Sicilian port of a Messina after
their long travels through the Black Sea. When the people who gathered at the
dock was met with a horrific accident. Many people one the crew was dead and the
people who were alive was very ill. They weren t able to keep food down because of
the pain they were enduring, also overcoming a fever. But the weird thing was that
they were covered in mysterious black books that had blood and puss coming from
them. By the time they ordered for the ships to be taking away from the docks it

other block s factors. Two methods are used for extraction the features; firstly by
using the edge mages, and secondly by using normalized features where only the

The drawbacks of some discussed methods are explained: Orientation histogram
method applied in [19] have some problems which are; similar gestures might have
different orientation histograms and different gestures could have similar orientation
histograms, besides that, the proposed method achieved well for any objects that
dominate the image even if it is not the hand gesture [19]. Neural Network classifier
has been applied for gestures classification[8] but it is time consuming and when the
number of training data increase, the time needed for classification are increased too
[8]. In [2] the NN required several hours for learning 42 characters and four days to
learn ten words [2]. Fuzzy c means clustering algorithm applied in [6] has some
disadvantages; wrong object extraction problem raised if the objects larger than the
hand. The performance of recognition algorithm decreases when the distance greater
than 1.5 meters between the user and the camera. Besides that, its variation to
lighting condition changes and unwanted objects might overlap with the hand
gesture. In [16] the system is variation to environment lighting changes which
produces erroneous segmentation of the

were to me regarding science; I was bombarded with formulas and equations to

good at chemistry and was able to work hard and do well in the class, it was not until
I sat in a real medical researchlaboratory that my passion for chemistry began. It

Drill and discipline, are what make it possible for a victory in battle. If warriors
going into battle are not accurately trained in the practice of drill and discipline it
can result in a mere senseless blood brawl ending with large amounts of casualties
and grave losses. In the battle of Agincourt 1415 is was a battle between King Henry
V of England whom wanted to reclaim lands both won and lost during the previous
century from France which was under the rule of King Charles VI although the army
outnumbered the English, it was in this battle the French suffered many casualties
due to poor strategy. In the battle of Waterloo 1815 two hundred years later it was a

Moreover, though their Calvary was great it was foolish to send them off against

French had set themselves up for failure as the chaos in battle must have put pressure
of numbers and desperation [which evenly] caused the French to spill from their
columns resulting an unorganized and disastrous attack against the English. In the
battle of Waterloo there are noticeable changes compared to the battle of Agincourt
besides the change in weapons. The first is the size and organization of military units
on the field as show in John Keegan s diagram, cavalry and infantry are spread
throughout the field with artillery placed within infantry units, this is has created a
spread out line rather than a tight knit line used in the battle of Agincourt, allowing
more movement and opportunity to inflict more damage on the enemy. The second
noticeable difference is the men used in battle, rather than it being aristocratic vassals
of the king and their vassals, it was men as
26. Kurt Lewin ( 1947 ) Divides The Change Process Essay
Answer 1.
Kurt Lewin (1947) divides the change process into 3 steps. Unfreezing, Changing
and Freezing. It is a very simple and practical model for understanding the change
process. It is widely used and is a basis for many change models. He widely stages
them as follows:
a)Creating the perception that change is needed.
b)Moving towards the new desired level of behavior.
c)Solidifying the new behavior as the norm.
UNFREEZING
Unfreezing raises an initial awareness of the need for change. It is the first step in
the change process. As many people will resist change the goal during unfreezing is
to create awareness as to how the current level is hindering the organization in some
way. Old behavior, ways of thinking, procedures and process followed, Human
resource, Organisation structure must be carefully examined to clarify the people in
the organization the need for change to maintain competitive advantage. The
Proprietor needs to convince his people the logic behind change and how it will be
beneficial at Individual and Organisational level. Besides Lewin states that people
should be motivated to accept change
As an owner of Pink Donkey catering Ltd who wants to open his own restaurant and

32. Allusions In Death In Venice
The reader familiar with ancient Greek mythology will find dozens of allusions to
classical Greek myths in Thomas Mann s Death in Venice. Mann examines an ancient
conflict rooted in classical mythology: the imbalance of Apollonian and Dionysian
qualities. Mann, inspired by writer Friedrich Nietzsche, alludes to the necessity of
balance between Apollonian and Dionysian qualities in an artist in order to produce
balanced and quality art. Mann incorporates Nietzsche s understanding that when
Apollonian and Dionysian qualities are imbalanced, the artist will eventually fail due
to his own self destruction. Mann takes the reader into the mind of Gustav von
Aschenbach, an aging writer who is on the extreme end of Apollonianism.

In the first chapters, Aschenbach takes a walk in Munich and stops by a mortuary
chapel. He sees a tourist with pale skin, red hair, and long teeth standing by a
portico displaying an apocalyptic scene. The man is carrying a walking stick and
wearing a wide brimmed straw hat. The scene fills Aschenbach with a desire to
travel, the first instance where the reader sees his Apollonian side degrading. The
tourist references the Greek god Hermes. Hermes is the god of thieves who travels
between the mortal world and the underworld. He carries dead souls to the
afterlife. Hermes is known for wearing a wide brimmed straw hat and carrying a
staff (Skidmore). The tourist Aschenbach sees is a traveler wearing the same thing
while he is standing in the mortal world underneath a scene of underworld beasts
alluding to being in between two worlds like Hermes. Mann uses this reference to
Hermes to foreshadow Aschenbach taking a journey to the underworld. In Andre von
Gronicka s essay Myth plus Psychology, he suggests that Aschenbach is being lured,
hypnotized into a contract, the terms of which are final and fatal . Despite this
ominous warning, Aschenbach decides to take a vacation to Venice. He boards a
gondola to take him to Venice. The gondola to Venice alludes to the journey to the
underworld by crossing the River Styx. The Hermes reference Aschenbach encounters

In his novel, The Call of the Wild, Jack London wants us to see the step beyond the
survival of the fittest to the complete adaptation to and domination of a once
unfamiliar and unforgiving environment. Using a third person, limited omniscient
narrator, the cold, icy Yukon wilderness, and a journey from lazy farm life to the
deadly work of a sled dog, we see Buck, a Saint Bernard/Scotch Shepherd mix
slowly return to his ancestral roots. As Jacqueline Tavernier Courbin states in her
book The Call of the Wild: A Naturalistic Romance, The book deals less with the
concept of evolution than with that of devolution (Courbin pg 57). London asks us
to believe that happily domesticated farm dog, Buck, can not only survive life as a
sled dog in the Yukon, but can become completely in tune with his primitive inner
self, and ultimately thrive as a leader of a wolf pack. The narration allows us to see
inside of Buck s mind, to share with him his visions, and to hear with him the call
of the wild. A reoccurring theme in The Call of the Wild is Buck s visons of a
primitive version of himself with a hairy ape like man. The third person, limited
omniscient narratorcan show the world around Buck, but can also go inside of Buck
s mind, giving us the perfect viewpoint to experience these visons with him, without
limiting us the way we would be if the narrator was Buck himself, or unable to share
in the visons at all if the narrator was one of the humans around him. These visons

34. Analysis Of Treasure State By Tin House
Short story, Treasure State by Tin House, is full of reflection, guilt, and loneliness.
Mainly, the story entails the journey of two brothers fleeing their hometown after
their incarcerated father, Old Guy, is granted mercy due to his terminal cancer to
return home. The brothers John and Daniel, would rather leave than to live with Old
Man so they set their eyes on the treasure state, Montana. The journey is documented
by eventful destinations and fleeing of the past while doing what is necessary to get
by. While it is easy to see the main themes, there are a couple of hidden gems within
some underrepresented characters and glanced over scenes.
At these destinations, the boys rob the dead, to trade off treasures for money for
the trip. Before leaving their home town, the brothers stop to eat at a diner full of
senior citizens. Here, is where John comes up with the idea to steal from funerals
and homes of the dead. What I found intriguing, is figuring out where the idea for
robbery of the specific group came from. Was it because the diner was full of older
human beings? Was It due to their father s terminal cancer? Maybe it was the fact that
they could be missed when they hit? An ambiguous series of events that I feel holds
some importance to the understanding of the story.
The first place the boys hit, was in a town called Oscarville. There, they robbed their
first funeral. They were semi caught by a grieving family member who invited the
burglar boys into the home.

The book The Scarlet Pimpernel immediately led into action that held you at the
edge of your seat, restlessly chewing your nails. It started by explaining the
complexity of escaping from France during the French Revolution that began in

country. The story follows the tale of Mrs. Marguerite Blakeney, wife of wealthy Sir
Percy Blakeney. Marguerite is enveloped in a troublesome issue of protecting her
brother, who is aiding the Scarlet Pimpernel, or to protect the identity of the Scarlet
Pimpernel, or which she herself does not know. Though the idea of a mysterious
brave man strikes a chord in Marguerite s young, loving heart, she chooses to
protect her brother and discovers information of who the Scarlet Pimpernel may
be for the french government. After many events that inevitably lead to Marguerite
discovering that Sir Percy himself is the Scarlet Pimpernel, Marguerite realizes
with growing dread that she has quite possibly doomed her husband to a tragic
death as now the french government was on his tail. She acquires the help of one
of Scarlet Pimpernel s nine teen members and sets sail for France in a desperate
attempt to save her husband and her brother. This being the main summary of the
book, the ending is very happy as they manage to fool the French and narrowly
escape from their clutching fingers. This book is set in the year of 1792, a few years
after the french revolution

The current process of electing the President of the United States through the
Electoral College system should not be changed because the Electoral College
system is superior in comparison to other comprehensive voting systems. Systems
like direct popular vote or the national popular vote may work in democracies;
however the United Statesis a federal republic. While allowing large metropolises and
large states to be represented in a manner consistent with their size, the Electoral

All of this means that the Electoral College incentivizes broader and more national
policies from presidential candidates. The Founders understood that democracies
from the past ended in violent failure (Scharmm 2004). John Adams wrote
Democracy never lasts lang. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There
never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. (Ross 2004). Essentially,
the Founder s understood that because the basis of government under the
constitution is derived from the people, and people are not perfectly moral or
ethical beings, due diligence in the form the Electoral College is required to protect
the intrinsic right of each citizen (Scharmm 2004). The reason moderate policies are
encouraged under the Electoral College is because the current system requires
candidates to receive a plurality of the popular vote on the state level which creates
political platforms that have a state wide basis but are nationally competitive and
moderate because the majority of each state is taken into account, and policies that
benefit one state at the cost of another make it difficult to win the presidency under
the electoral college. (Eastland 1970)
Although rare, it is possible under the Electoral College that the winner of the
presidency loses the popular vote by a small margin. This mechanism is in place
however to prevent a candidate from pandering to a handful of populous

Thematic Comparison Of Literature
The recent years have seen a growing trend towards concentration in each country in
major urban centres. This fact constantly evolves and would place all of city
infrastructure. Parallel to this situation, there are problems in the various fields that
determine the standard of living of a society such as health, transport, and
environment and caused concerns about their solution. Growing urbanization and the
serious economic and environmental challenges guide the creation of smart cities as
how to offer technological solutions. This option is designed to bridge the gap
between supply and demand as well as reduce the impact on the environment because
of intense urbanization

The creation of a framework that can be used to characterize the way in which
developed a smart city and design initiatives that promote this growth opposes the
view of some of the smart cities. The researchers simply see it as smart urban centres
which make better use of information and communication technologies. Instead, the
effort should focus on a broad and comprehensive approach to improve the efficiency
of city operations, citizens quality of life and the economy. The axes which move the
development framework and improving the smart city are the economy, people,
governance, mobility, environment and living.
The development of smart city requires managing a complex system of factors in
the line of the above axes. This is because everyone s dimensions give the actual
value that is required to achieve the target. The smart city is defined as a superset
systems aimed at optimization of public and private city systems. The processes

Dear Sir or Madam
I am writing this letter in order to turn your attention to two different sites on the Isle
of Wight. I have been contracted by DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food
Rural Affairs) to assess the current state of the southern coast of the island. The Isle
of Wight is always susceptible to landslides and coastal erosion. Hence investigations
need to be done regularly in order to minimise the negative impacts of these events.
The sites I will be talking about include:
1.Alum Bay
2.Hanover Point
Alum Bay
Alum Bay is situated on the west coast of the Isle of Wight within close proximity
with the Needles (rock formation). The bay is famous for its multi coloured sand
cliffs, which make it a perfect tourist attraction as well as a point of interest for
geologists. There is a series of vertically bedded soft sand and clays, which are
weak rocks due to being geologically very recent. The vertical beds are formed over
time due to tectonic plates pushing into each other (in this case the African plate
pushing into the Eurasian plate). The rock bed started off horizontally and due to
plate pressure, the distance between one side of the crust to the other was shortened
and hence a vertical bed was formed in the middle.
Just through searching for Alum Bay on Bing maps it is possible to spot problems
straightaway. There are

45. Monetary Policy Essay
Monetary Policy
Monetary policy has some basic goals: to promote quot;maximum quot; sustainable
output and employment and to promote quot;stable quot; prices. The term
quot;monetary policy quot; refers to the actions undertaken by a central bank, such
as the Federal Reserve, to influence the availability and cost of money and credit to
help promote national economic goals. The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 gave the
Federal Reserve responsibility for setting monetary policy.
The Fed can not control inflation or influence output and employment directly;
instead, it affects them indirectly, mainly by raising or lowering a short term interest
rate called the quot;federal funds quot; rate. The Federal Reserve has certain tools at
its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using these tools, the Federal Reserve influences the demand for, and supply of,
balances that depository institutions hold at Federal Reserve Banks and in this way
alters the federal funds rate. The federal funds rate is the interest rate at which
depository institutions lend balances at the Federal Reserve to other depository
institutions overnight. The point of implementing policy through raising or lowering
interest rates is to affect people s and firms demand for goods and services. Changes
in the federal funds rate trigger a chain of events that affect other short term interest
rates, foreign exchange rates, long term interest rates, the amount of money and
credit, and, ultimately, a range of economic variables. This shows how policy actions
affect real interest rates, which in turn affect demand and ultimately output,
employment, and inflation.
Monetary policy can be quickly altered and can affect money supply and
investments very fast thus making speed and flexibility one of its strength. Members
of the Feds board are appointed a 14 year term. This isolates them from lobbying so
therefore no political pressure to contend with. The tight monetary policy helped the
economy succeed from 1980 thru to 1990 by bringing down the inflation rate.
Monetary policy is not all strengths there are weaknesses also associated

Throughout the video, Joe Smith uses various opinions and facts to persuade
viewers to save paper towels. For starters, he uses an opinion by stating that we
could reduce the usage of paper. This is an opinion since it is subjective because
Smith cannot prove that everyone will save paper. Therefore, the statement about
reducing paper is a generalization since there is no guarantee that everyone will try
to reduce paper. Furthermore, he uses hedging by using the word we could which is
used to prevent some audiences from becoming offended that some of them might
incapable of saving paper towel. Another opinion is that he states that the audience
can save paper towels by just using one paper. This can be proven as an opinion from

49. Value of Time
The value of Time
The value of time is limitless, it cannot be measured. The value of time arises from
the fact that human life is short but he has to do a lot of works within the short span
of time. Each work requires some time. If the work is not finished in time, it may not
be finished at all. That explains why time is so valuable and it should not be lost for
nothing.
Tome goes on like the tide of a river and it never waits for anybody. Lost time can
never be found again. Misuse of time is a great crime and it makes life barren like a

It moves. What was yesterday is not today. What is today will not be tomorrow.
Yesterday is gone. Today is and tomorrow is yet to come. Yet time is said to have no
holiday. It exists always.
The entire creation moves on according to a time pattern. There is birth, growth
and death. There is time for everything. Plants flower and give fruits. Seasons come
according to time. A child is born, grows into boyhood, adolescence, youth, middle
age and old age according to age and time. Every movement of creation is linked
with time. One cannot grow paddy in a month nor can a child become an adult in a
year. Everything is fixed to a time frame.
Time is a free force. It does not wait for any one. It is commonly said that time and
tide waits for no man. Time is money. A minute not usefully spent is an eternal loss.
You can never get back the lost minute. One has to strike the iron when it is hot. The
time flies and never returns. If you waste time it wastes you.
Time is the best medicine , says Ovid. It is said that time heals all wounds and it
even heals what reason cannot. All human beings are emotional. When negative
emotions like fear, anger, envy and jealousy overtake them, they lose reason and act
in haste leading to serious consequences. They may repent later, as emotions cool
down. But the damage done is done and remains forever. Even that damage can heal
with the passage of time. People involved may forget and forgive. That is the

Question: Does the depth of the river affect its overall pH from mid december 2015
to early january 2016?
Knowledge Probe: According to.epa.gov/acidrain/measure/pH.html, pH is a measure
of the hydrogen ion concentration of a solution. Solutions with a high concentration
of hydrogen ions have a low pH and solutions with a low concentrations of H+ ions
have a high pH. A pH of 7 is the most neutral you can get and 0 being the most acidic
and 14 being the most basic. each level is 10 times more basic/ acidic than the
previous level, for example a pH of 8 is 10 times more basic than 7, and a pH of 9 is
100 times more basic than 7. when an acidic substance reacts with a basic substance

The blue bar grapH below it shows the pH of each of the 12 trial collected. The
table below compares the depth in inches to the pH directly, and the average of each
is at the bottom of the table.
Data Analysis: On trial 5 something interesting happened where it did not match the
trend of other data points. you can see this when comparing the depth to pH with
the grapHs; for example trial 1 s depth and pH is lower than trial 2 s depth and pH,
and trial 2 s depth and pH is lower than trial 3 s depth and pH etc. that sort of trend
is fluent through the data except trial 5 where depth was lower than the previous
trials but the pH was the highest collected. My data is accurate to a point but when
collecting the depth of the river it presented a challenge to get 100% accurate
because it is constantly changing; also the pH scale only measures to the hundredth
of a digit. The pH Scales calibration could also have been of slightly but all of my
trials were collected under the same calibration so it does not seem to present a
change in trend but instead with the actual numbers.
Claim: When the depth on the Looking Glass river was higher it had a higher pH in
late december 2015 to early January 2016.

51. Essay on Little Red Riding Hood
Throughout literature, authors employ a variety of strategies to highlight the central
message being conveyed to the audience. Analyzing pieces of literature through the
gender critics lens accentuates what the author believes to be masculine or feminine
and that society and culture determines the genderresponsibility of an individual. In
the classic fairytale Little Red Riding Hood, the gender strategies appear through the
typical fragile women of the mother and the grandmother, the heartless and clever
malewolf, and the naГЇve and vulnerable girl as little red riding hood. In the classical
tale of Little Red Riding Hood, Little Red Riding Hood leaves her mother to visit her

Highlighting that the women were inferior to him, the wolf plans to be clever about
this that the [he] can make a good meal out of the two of them (Hyman 8). He
gradually formulates a strategy to hoodwink the adolescent into entrusting him. By
doing this, he reveals that the author subconsciously believes men to be of such
evasiveness. He seems gentle and kind, but his true character lies under the mask of
kindness. The gentle wolves become the most dangerous in these varieties of
narratives, because they shadow the infantile, naГЇve girls, and swindle them into
trusting them before they commence to do the unthinkable act of deceiving the
women (Bettelheim 168). The wolf s superior nature as a male character provides
a character foil for the lady like traits of Little Red Riding Hood as he overpowers
her with his male authority and intelligence. As Little Red Riding Hood blindly
follows the wolf s commands and becomes the weaker of the two characters, she
proves the idea that being raised in a society where the women continue to allow
themselves to be suppressed into the kitchen and household chores affects the
gender role that she takes on herself. As Little Red Riding Hood begins to leave on
her journey, her mother proves her lack of faith in the intelligence of her daughter as
she instructs her to not daydream and stray off the path (Hyman 3). She continues on
her journey, and the wolf sees her from
52. Age Graded Theory Analysis
Merging these two theories would be helpful to provide more accurate prediction
and understanding of crime. There are ideological differences as well as a different
unit of analysis is different for the two but researchers may be able to look at the
individuals who are in an environment that is strained as well as look at individual
level variables of Age Graded theory. Age Graded theory does not include important
factors such as cultural and institutional dynamic. Those who are involved in
prosocial institutions and cultures such as education and arts may be integrated with
those who are attached to their spouses.
Also those who go into adaptations that are correlated with crime may have
individual factors that age graded theory looks at to understand why people go into
innovation at the individual level. Also it would be helpful for policy makers to
help increase those who adopt with conformity of the goals and the means to reduce
crime. Escape mechanism are more prevalent in certain neighborhoods and more
prevalent among certain people. Learning who also is more likely to go into
defeatism, quietism, and resignation would also be helpful for policy makers and
researchers.

Learning about social bond of an individual through the life course is important but
not focusing also on the greater structural variables is a mistake. High crime rates in
many inner cities will not be fixed by simply looking at individual level
characteristics and causes but there needs to be policy that create societal changes.
Gangs and murders for example become concentrated in areas not solely on
individual factors of the people living there but poor minority communities adapt to
anomie that is high in their neighborhoods. These different level factors may
exacerbate each other and have greater influence on crime when they

In criminal cases an individual accused of a serious crime is rarely desirous of
