Writing an essay on the topic of capital punishment and the death penalty can be a challenging
task for several reasons. Firstly, it involves delving into a highly controversial and emotionally
charged subject matter that evokes strong opinions on both sides. Navigating through the myriad
of arguments, ethical considerations, and societal perspectives requires a careful and balanced
approach to ensure the essay remains objective and informative.
Additionally, researching the topic involves sifting through a vast array of legal, philosophical,
and sociological literature. Understanding the historical context, legal precedents, and
international perspectives on capital punishment requires a thorough examination of diverse
sources. Analyzing the impact of the death penalty on crime rates, the justice system, and
individual rights further complicates the task, as these aspects often involve complex statistical
data and nuanced arguments.
Crafting a compelling thesis statement and structuring the essay in a coherent manner is another
hurdle. The essay should not only present factual information but also engage the reader with
well-reasoned arguments and counterarguments. Striking the right balance between emotional
appeal and logical reasoning is crucial, as the topic often elicits strong emotions.
Moreover, the essay must address the evolving nature of public opinion and legal standards
regarding the death penalty. This requires staying abreast of current events, legislative changes,
and judicial decisions that may impact the essay's relevance and accuracy.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of capital punishment and the death penalty demands
extensive research, critical thinking, and the ability to navigate through complex ethical and legal

Donovan Alcohol Consumption
Donovan, in 2004 made an endeavor to build up a correspondence system keeping in
mind the end goal to diminish the alcohol related problems in adolescents and young
adults. In his report, the unnecessary utilization has been associated with episodic
drinking and the two ideas are alluded to as at least a mild level of intoxication so as
to lessen cognitive functioning and motor control . This definition constructs the
examination with respect to the effect of liquor instead of the units consumed. On the

significance of psychological development regarding alcohol consumption among

of the adolescence development. Various studies have evaluated the factors and
predictors associated with the alcohol consumption among adults. Some of them have
defined clear differentiation of forecasters about normal or moderate consumption
from those related to the misuse or excessive consumption. Donovan (2004) state that
the factors which lead to consumption initiation at an early age are similar to those
which facilitate further development of drinking habit, addiction, and excessive

and the associated problems with drinking are addressed and perceived. The research

Autumn Epilogue
Epilogue The trail in the woods that Roxas and Xion took every morning was
peaceful and quiet, with the exception of songbirds chirping in the trees, and the
delightful crunch of dried leaves under their shoes. Leaves of the surrounding trees
were starting to turn into different shades of red, yellow and brown; a sign of an
early autumn. Xion Zayas adjusted the scarf she was wearing, making sure to cover
up her neck as much as possible; she could feel the autumn breeze nipping at her

Information Technology Department s Plan Essay
Given that a major goal of the [HISD] Information Technology Department s plan is
to ensure that technology strategies and operations support the overall learning
process (HISD, 2012), the hardware and software to be installed and implemented in
the district s standardized computer lab will serve as a reflection of this goal. The
standardized computerlab will support multiple computing clients, including thin
client Chromebooks, a tablet computer cart, and a student workstation with desktop
computers. In their 2016 Standards for Students, the International Society for
Technology in Educationoutlines six domains in which students should demonstrate
proficiency so that they can be prepared to thrive in a constantly evolving
technological landscape (ISTE, 2016). Included in these domains is that of the
Creative Communicator, in which students choose the appropriate platforms and
tools for meeting the desired objectives of their creation or communication (ISTE,
2016). To provide students opportunities to practice creating and collaborating across
platforms and throughout the elementary, middle, high school and adult stages of
learning, multiple categories of computing devices will be selected for installation in
the HISD standardized computer lab: thin clients in the form of Chromebooks, tablet
computers, and desktop computers.
The majority of devices available for student use in the standardized computer lab will

This is through consideration of the object photographed; the method of lighting,
technical parameters and the representation that the photographer wishes to portray.
The connotation is how something is photographed, while the denotation is what is
photographed. What is important in this scenario is that the essence of the picture is
manipulated by one or more of these external factors. It may be argued that the art of
photography itself is not organic, but merely the careful manipulation of external
elements, constructed by the artist. However, Barthes does not consider photography
as an analogue, a puerile denoted message, yet ironically that is how most people
instinctively see. Objects photographed (denoted) for non artistic pictures such as
documentaries are perceived by the viewer as portraying characteristics of the truth,
rather than being used as stylistic mediums. According to Barthes, in the case of
traumatic images where tragic events are depicted, even those that have long passed
still have the ability to evoke emotion. In other words, cause the suspension of the
connotation process. Other pictures are subject to both processes, though the
structure of visual expression can be heard independent independently;
comprehensive and exhaustive. Barthes does not deny that the essence of the
connotation is not in this case in the transmission, but is related to other factors.

Hairstyles of the 90 s
In 1990 I was 13 years old. I remember that my hairstyle was as important as what I
wore everyday. I wore my hair up, all down, and in a half ponytail. When I wore it all
down, I would crimp it with a crimping tool or flat iron it with really big bangs,
using a lot of hairspray. When I wore it up, I would use a big, colorful, flashy
scrunchie to put my hair into a ponytail. The ponytail would always be at the very
top of my head and very big. When I wore my hair half up and half down, I would
also use a big flashy scrunchie to put it in a half ponytail. With that, I would also
make my bangs sticking straight up with a lot of hairspray. I look back at old
pictures of myself and think, wow, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not to mention, my brother also rocked a Mullet. I love those pictures of him. The
Mullet hair is shorter at front and longer at the back. The Beastie Boys song Mullet
Head from 1994 became much more popular once the Mullet hairstyle came into
fashion. The Superman comics in the 90 s also shows Superman in a Mullet
haircut. Punk rock bands were mostly famous for Mullets, along with many
country singers, such as, Billy Ray Cyrus, Travis Tritt, and Joe Defoe. Sanjay
Dutt, a Bollywood actor also had a Mullet haircut during the 1990 s. The Afro
hairstyle comes to mind when I think of hair in the 90 s too. People with lengthy
and kinky hair texture maintained a fashion with the Afro hairstyle. The hairs are
extended out from the scalp and are made in a round shape like that of a ball or a
cloud. Creams, gels and other liquids were used to give the shape to this Afro style
of hair. Popular in the 60 s, the Afro hairstyle came back in the 90 s again, but with
various braids, twists and sizes. NBA players, Kobe Bryant, Michael Beasley along
with several musicians Ludacris, Wiz Khalifa, Beyonce had the Afro style of hair in
the 90 s. Next I will talk about the Frosted Tip hairstyle. The Frosted Tip hairstyle was
Waste Disposal Of The United States
Waste disposal in the United States is a vast and complicated enterprise. From the
handling of regular household trash to hazardous, toxic waste materials, a great deal
of infrastructure is required in order to best store and transport such materials in a
way that does not conflict with communities. However, in point of fact, there is a
great deal of trouble with the current wastemanagement systems of the United
States: from destructive ecological effects to humanitarian concerns in low/under
privileged neighborhoods in America, there is a lot to consider when it comes to
the topic of waste disposal in cities of the United States. That being the case, the
following will proceed to address a myriad of issues affecting waste disposal
systems in the United States, starting with general information about American s
usage of waste disposal systems, followed by environmental effects and the role of
the Environmental Protection Agency (or EPA) in addressing these issues.
==================== First, let us look at some basic statistics about the
American s use of waste disposal systems. According to the EPA, In 2013, Americans
generated about 254 million tons of trash and recycled and composted about 87
million tons of this material, equivalent to a 34.3 percent recyclingrate. On average,
we recycled and composted 1.51 pounds of our individual waste generation of 4.40
pounds per person per day (epa.gov, 2015). On the whole, American s produce a great
deal of waste. And
The Importance Of Self-Esteem In The Whale Rider
When someone tells us something rude, we have two reactions. We either prove
them wrong and work harder to be the best you can be or you say that their right
and just move on. In the novel The Whale Rider by Witi Ihimaera, the main
protagonist Kahu gets shut down by her great grandfather Koro Apirana multiple
times because she is a girl and she is the next heir to be chief. But that breaks Maori
tradition and Koro Apirana does not approve of that. The theme of The Whale Rider
by Witi Ihimaera is how the power of others affects our self esteem. Kahu doesn t let
Koro Apirana s hateful words get to her and she eventually proves him wrong and
becomes important to him.

Go back, he said. Go away. You are of no use to me. Kahu stopped in her tracks. I
thought she would cry, but she knitted her eyebrows and gave him a look of such
frustration that I could almost hear her saying to herself, You just wait, Paka. You

to the young boys about the Maori culture and find out who will become chief.
Kahu gets excited when she sees him and runs over to him. But Koro, being
obsessed with tradition, tells her to go away because he has no use for her. She is
not discouraged by this and by the end of the book she proves him wrong and she

that she is the legendary Whale Rider. Our ancestor wants to die. [Koro] But why?

Psychoanalytic Criticism In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Throughout history, the release of literary pieces have contributed drastic changes to
humans and storytelling. While dissecting a literary piece, finding a familiar face,
line, or plot isn t uncommon. As people are easily influenced, so are the creation of
stories. The novel Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley as a whole, observed
carefully, presents an intriguing analysis, rooting from stories such as Genesis and
Prometheus; revolving around themes of love, knowledge, and. Additionally, when
the text is taken into consideration concerning Psychoanalytic criticism, Frankenstein
s creation reveals a deeper source of purpose on his actions, even tracing back to the
days his existence began.
To begin, certain aspects of Psychoanalytic criticism presents itself throughout the
entire story, allowing the reader to analyze the causation of the actions
Frankenstein s creation executes. The monster s actions are caused by the lack of
experience of the imaginary order, a process those with parents experience and
eventually slip out of as time passes. Lacanian theory holds that we all suffer from
lack because nothing can ever satisfy the desire one holds to return to what he
terms the imaginary order represented by the mother (Brackett). In Frankenstein s
situation he is denied this order due to the lack of companionship and love. His
first moments of life distanced immensely from perfection as the creation states, I
was poor, helpless, miserable wretch; I knew, and could distinguish, nothing; but
feeling pain invade me on all sides, I sat down and wept (Shelley 91). The first
moments of the creatures life encompassed fear, abandonment, and a deficiency of a
sense of togetherness. When the creation exists in absence of this experience, s[he]
is doubly cursed with the inability to return to an order s[he] never experienced ,
leading him to recognize how utterly abandoned and alone he was (Brackett).
Frankenstein emphasizes this isolation to Victor when he states, Satan had his
companions, fellow devils, to admire and encourage him; but I am solitary and
abhorred (Shelley 118). This imaginary order which remains as an unexposed factor
in Frankenstein s creations life begets the creature to metamorphose from
Jane Eyre Motherhood Essay
Charlotte BrontГ«, the author of Jane Eyre, places Jane Eyre, the protagonist, in
various scenarios where she has substitute mothers to replace the death of her
biological one. Surrogate mothers are represented in several roles as hired
servants, governesses, nannies, or siblings (Mattson). Throughout the course of
her life Jane meets women who care, teach, and guide her to become a strong and
independent woman. The first substitute motherhood figure to appear in Jane s life
is Bessie, the maid at Gateshead Hall. After Jane is sent away to Lowood, the
school she would attend, she then meets Miss Temple, the superintendent of the
school. A couple of years pass by and Jane ends up becoming a teacher at Lowood
herself and then leaves to become a governess at the Thornfield manor.
Complications happen during her stay at Thornfield, which causes her to leave.
She has nowhere to live, and is depleted of money and food. This is when two
women, Diana and Mary, take Jane into their home and take care of her, with them
being the last substitute mothers that Jane will encounter. As a child, Jane lived with

Aunt Reed and cousins John, Georgiana, and Eliza disliked her and treated her

The Cost Of Attending College Analysis
The Cost of Attending College
I m not going to college my friend told me over the phone one day during a
conversation we were having. I was somewhat surprised, but his decision did not
catch me completely off guard. We had discussed the topic before and he mentioned
his consideration to not attend college after he graduated from high school. He
believed that even though he would probably enjoy going to college and learning
new information, college was not the best option for him. He is smart; however, he
was already working various jobs and projects while in high school, sometimes
missing school to complete his responsibilities. He was making much more money

There are many factors that play into someone s choice of attending college:
interests, goals, prior education level, intelligence, financial situation, as well as
many others. The higher the cost of attending college and obtaining a degree goes,
the more pertinent this question becomes to society. The type of job a person is
planning on obtaining after he completes his college education greatly impacts the
value of his degree. Acquiring a well paying job after leaving college is the only
way for a college graduate to effectively pay off his student loans. Before someone
can earn a degree and enter into the workforce, they must do well and complete all
of their years in college. If a student goes through college for one year or two and
then drops out and enters the workforce, he has wasted his time and

The National Intelligence Council is the main body for mid and long term strategic
thinking and analytical reporting. The most authoritative written assessment is the
NIC Global Trends report written every four years and briefed to the incoming
president between election day and the inauguration. This report often prepares the
president for what the intelligence community believes to the upcoming global
issues his presidency will have to content with and provides a analytical speculation
of future trends beyond the presidential term. To write an analytical product every
four years is problematic when intelligence is fleeting and importance is constantly
shifting. Considering the fact that the President receives the Presidential Daily
Brief (PDB) on a daily basis, a more realistic approach for the NIC is to produce a
report biennially. The NIC can express its strategic analytical concerns with the mid

In the beginning of the scene, Lady Macbeth does her duties by making the
surfeited grooms (II. i. 5) incapable of doing anything productive, thus making it
easy for Macbeth to slip in and kill the king. As the scene progresses, the concept of
intoxication continues as the Porter discusses the three things of liquor affects are
marry, sleep, and urine (II. iii. 22). Lamar, uncoincidentally, mentioned three things
as to the reason pick up the bottle is to fit in (Swimming Pools), to drown [one s]
sorrows (Swimming Pools), and the some people may just like the feeling
(Swimming Pools). The drink symbolizes an aphrodisiac as well but limits the man
s performance (II. iii. 26). Porter and Lamar then come together to discuss the
feeling of lechery (II. iii. 22) as [provoking] the desires (II. iii. 23) and seeing the
love in her eyes (Swimming pools) but ultimately disheartens him (II.iii. 26).
The placement of this spiel by The Porter is a comical relief in a tense time
because the King has just been killed and Macbeth is about to regret his murder.
The idea of liquor that Porter and Lamar paint are similar in a way that liquor has an
effect on the human senses, whether that be a good or bad thing is up to the drinker.

The nurse patient relationship (NPR) is considered the foundation of nursing care, the
context in which nurses practice. The NPR is an interpersonal process that develops
over time between patients and nurses (Hagerty; Patusky, 2003). In addition, the
elements of this process generally include a beginning or development of trust,
middle or working phase, and an ending or termination phase within the context of
caring, sharing, and goal orientation. This conceptualization is grounded in the work
of Peplau (1952) and was subsequently expanded in the works of interactional nurse
theorists such as King (1981), Paterson and Zderad (1988), and Travelbee (1971).
Over the years that I have been qualified in my home country, I worked in various

The global migration of nurses is not new. Trends indicate that this immigration

Genius In Badlands
Perhaps the best thing about Badlands is the way the music itself is creatively put
together and produced. For example, through the use of sound effects in her music,
Halsey makes the songs come to life in a way that completely immerses the reader
in her world. In the song Drive, she uses the sound of a car s engine starting, a
seatbelt alarm, and tires revving on a road to add dimension. In Castle, the
crashing noise of metal on metal can be heard, giving the song an urban feeling,
and in Young God, she records herself saying: Forever cursed in love are the
observant. Forever a slave to the detail, and plays it backwards, giving the beginning
of the song a very ethereal feeling. Another example of genius music is in the use of

Roller Coasters Good Or Bad
Roller coasters are the bomb. Would people still enjoy amusement parks if they
knew the danger of them? Roller coasters cause deaths and severe injuries. In one
year, there s 350 injuries on roller coasters. It s like an injury a day! Now, it s much
rarer, because the technology is safer, but there s always a slight risk. Inspectors
notice that most injuries or deaths are from rides over twenty years old. One coaster
is less than 10 years old. Amusement parks are fun, but can be life threatening. From
1987 to 1999, forty two death documents were reported to the park health institute.

Early Childhood Coloring Essay
Many parents are looking for ways to give their children the tools they will need
for later in life. It is important that parents work with their children early on to
develop some much needed skills. It has been proven that children are more likely to
learn a new skill through play. Here are some important activities for early childhood
that your children are sure to find fun.
Coloring
Many people may not look at coloring as an important activity. However, encouraging
a child to color has many benefits. Coloring will help a young child develop their
fine motor skills. Often children are first exposed to how to grip a writing instrument
when coloring. It is thought that children that color often during their early childhood
find it easier when learning how to write. As young children become more accustom
to coloring try using other tools such as an easel or tape the paper to the wall. You
can also introduce markers, colored pencils and chalk to give them a new experience
and broaden their coloring ability. A simple activity would be to trace your child s
hand and have them practice coloring within the lines.

Pros And Cons Of Napoleon Bonaparte
Napoleon Bonaparte was a powerful leader who established the foundations of
modern Europe through an administration riddled with controversy. Napoleon came
to power in 1799 by overthrowing The Directory in France and appointing himself as
the emperor, thus having complete control over the country. Napoleon s most lasting
achievements include instituting the Napoleonic code, taking control of nearly all of
Europe, and engaging in numerous battles with European nations. After years of
serving in Europe, Napoleon had many foreign interactions and made himself a
reputation split between a hero and a tyrant. To be a tyrant means to be a cruel and
oppressive leader, something Europe was familiar with from the absolutist monarchs
in their history... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the years of Napoleon s reign, he engaged in numerous wars throughout Europe
to dominate nations and force them under his control, resulting in the loss of
hundreds of thousands of lives. Although, some may say most of the wars were
not initiated by Napoleon himself, and he was only responding to a foreign threat.
However, that statement is unfair because those countries only engaged in battle
when they felt Napoleon s spreading control threaten their nations. France was a
powerful force and the weaker European countries allied together to stop Napoleon
from overthrowing their governments and forcing his control on them. Not only
did Napoleon take control of neighboring countries to France, but he forced his
administration, specifically the Napoleonic code, on them as well. When
instituting the Napoleonic code, many people rejoiced over the enlightened ideas
it spread and freedom it promoted. However, most, if not all of Napoleon s
positive reforms were done so with negative intentions or a counter force in mind.
For instance, Napoleon restricted all information in and out of France that viewed
him negatively or could potentially obstruct the submissive society he built. In fact,
plays, newspapers, and books were censored, which kept his citizens in the dark.
The deceit continued when Napoleon promised freedom for all people, but went
back on his word once it was no longer convenient for him. For example, Napoleon
was facing many

Summary Of The Tale Of Genji

Text Analysis
The Tale of Genji In early eleventh century Japan, circa the year 1021, noblewoman
and lady in waiting Murasaki Shikibu published The Tale of Genji, widely
renowned as the world s first novel. The work is set in Shikibu s contemporary
Heian period of Japan, in which political and social ranks dictated society s
functioning and heavy prejudices were placed on those deemed unsuitable for the
affairs of public court life. Women fell under this umbrella of outsiders, meant to
live primarily behind screens and closed doors only to be seen by their father and
husband. It is believed that Shikibu wrote such a tale of forbidden romance and
whimsical court affairs to bring life to her fellow women who shared in such a
limited existence. This single piece of literature manages to wholly represent the
Heian age of Japanese history, embodying the period s culture and seamlessly
incorporating a broad spectrum of themes of civilization. The Tale of Genjirevolves
around the illegitimate son of Japan s emperor and his favorite concubine Kiritsubo.
Kiritsubo is easily influenced by the critics and judgments of the court, falls ill, and
dies of jealously. With her having no concrete political standing, the emperor removes
their son from court and assigns him to the commoner Genji clan (thus giving the boy
his name) and names Suzaku, the son he had with Lady Kokiden as the royal prince.

Playing the Stock Market Game Essay
There are many different ways to save money and there are different things to save
for. A savings plan for an immediate want is apparently different than a savings
strategy for retirement. One may choose to select stocks, bonds, or mutual funds for a
savings strategy, however, my personal choice is to invest in bonds first, then mutual
funds.
My savings strategy selection process for an immediate want includes taking a
portion of my income and storing it in a money market bank account to cover the
expenses, since the interest rate changes daily for money market accounts. My
savings strategy selection process for retirement includes a combination of municipal
bonds, mutual funds, and maybe a few reliable stocks. However, I would invest ...

In return for that money, the issuer provides you with a bond in which it promises to
pay a certain rate of interest during the life of the bond, and to repay the face value
of the bond (the principle) at its maturity date. Among the types of bonds available
for investment are: U.S. government securities, municipal bonds, corporate bonds,
mortgage and asset backed securities, federal agency securities and foreign
government bonds. Zero interest or coupon municipal bonds are my number one
choice because these bonds can be purchased for a small amount, then at its maturity
date, or earlier call date these bonds usually pay the face value. Now to me, this is a
smart investment choice especially for retirement.
A mutual fund is nothing more than a collection of stocks and/or bonds. One can
think of a mutual fund as a company that brings together a group of people and invests
their money in stocks, bonds, and other securities. Each investor owns shares, which
represent a portion of the holdings of the fund. By nature I am not a gambler, so
when investing my money, I want less risks as possible. So let it be known that
bonds and mutual funds are safer and have less risk than stocks. This does not mean
that some stocks are not good sound investment choices.
The idea behind diversification is to invest in a large number of assets so that a loss
in any particular investment is minimized by gains
Malcolm X Non Violence
Are Violent Protests the Only Solution Towards a Nonviolent Community? Causing
violence seems solvable towards the goal of peace, right? Violent protests are
embedded in the history of the world, however, peaceful protests are becoming
increasingly prevalent. Protests in the form of violence date far back, Malcolm X
influenced violence heavily to gain equality, while Gandhi aimed for peaceful
protests, several protests that turn violent would occur for the goal of independence,
however, people still protestin today s time, resulting in involvements in both peace
and violence. Malcolm X, a leader of his time, lead people of color towards the
equality they deserved. Being exposed to racism in his younger years, Malcolm X
had experience with constant harassment and hatred. Having been unprotected from
the racism, Malcolm X craved equality. Malcolm X pointed out constantly that a
revolution has to be violent, a nonviolent revolution simply does not exist. Even after
constant threats made toward Malcolm X, he did not let himself stray away from
what he strongly believed in. After Malcolm X s... Show more content on

Whenever a violent protest was happening, Gandhi would protest the protest by
starving himself to prove a point to the protesters that supported him (Briley and
Shankar). Nonviolent protests are actually becoming more relevant today than they
ever have been, compared to violent protests. Gandhi was a prime example of
protesting and assembling peacefully. Gandhi believed that peace rather than
violence was an important aspect of protests. I left India more convinced than ever
before that nonviolent resistance was the most potent weapon available to oppressed
people in their struggle for freedom (Chenoweth and Stephan). When the issue
revolves around freedom and independence, there are concerns whether the issue can
be solved peacefully or
Cause And Effects Of Stress In College Students
Around 18.2 million to 19.7 million students enroll in college every year. Whereas
about 7,000 students drop out every day. Many students have different problems that
make them decide between crosswords whether to stick to education or go a
different route in life. There are many causes and effects due to the amount of stress
collegestudents go through daily. I know this because I ve been a college studentfor
about 3 months and experience stress almost every day. Three main causes why
college students experience stress is because of academic stressors, social stressors,
and daily hassles. Which leads to dropouts, weight issues, and unhealthy habits.
The first type of stress that college students experience is academically. The workload
is significantly more than the high school workload which means there s less hand
holding during this time period from both teachers and parents. Throughout high
school you re giving do overs however in college do overs don t exist. With
challenging classes, scheduling issues to coordinate, difficult tests and other
academic obstacles, coupled with the most independent nature of the college learning
structure, many new and returning students find themselves studying long, hard hours.
The next type of stress college students encounter is social stress. Freshmen face the
most obvious social challenges because there leaving both there family and friends
behind which is their support system, in most cases if they don t commute back and
forth to school. Trying to create a new social network for the first time away from
home and their parents most students face social stress. Living with a roommate,
balancing friends with school work, often part time jobs, dealing with the dynamics
of adult relationships can all be so difficult to weigh and lead to significant stress.
Lastly, college students feel stress when dealing with daily hassles. Many students
keep crazy hours from staying up late to study, getting up early for classes, and
trying to cram in all the work and fun that can possibly fit. These are all things that
students possibly deal with daily that could cause stress even if its the littlest
situation. For example, missing the bus you needed to aboard in order to get to

Comparing The Poem The Chimney Sweeper
The two poems that I chose to compare are The Chimney Sweeper poem from both
Songs of Innocence and the Songs of Experience.
When my mother died I was very young,
And my father sold me while yet my tongue
Could scarcely cry weep! weep! weep! weep!
So your chimneys I sweep in soot I sleep.
There s little Tom Dacre, who cried when his head
That curled like a lamb s back, was shaved, so I said,
Hush, Tom! never mind it, for when your head s bare,
You know that the soot cannot spoil your white hair.
And so he was quiet, that very night,
As Tom was a sleeping he had such a sight!
That thousands of sweepers, Dick, Joe, Ned, Jack,
Were all of them locked up in coffins of black;
And by came an Angel who had a bright key,
And he opened the coffins set them all free;
Then down a green plain, leaping, laughing they run,
And wash in a river and shine in the Sun.
Then naked white, all their bags left behind,
They rise upon clouds, and sport in the wind.
And the Angel told Tom, if he d be a good boy,
He d have God for his father never want joy.
And so Tom awoke; and we rose in the dark
And got with our bags our brushes to work.
Though the morning was cold, Tom was happy warm;
So if all do their duty, they need not fear harm.
The Chimney Sweeper from Innocence, to me, showed just that. Even though these
little kids had to climb up chimney every day and will probably eventually die from
it, it ll all turn out fine because as long as they re good,
The Victorian Er The Victorian Period During The
Victorian...
One of the darker and more mysterious periods in history is the Victorian Era. The
nineteenth century was a major point in literary history, with stories mostly related to
supernatural beings, poetry, and fantastic literature. There were also multiple
different religions, such as Christianity and Judaism. The people in England were
very religious and went to church every sunday. Despite their social class, women
were always home and doing their housework, while men were out working to earn
money for the family. The clothing style was very formal and posh; the rich having
finer cloths. The Victorian Erawas an interesting time period because of its politics,
literature, society and culture.
The political history of the Victorian Era was based on Queen Victoria and her views
and outlooks on everything. Queen Victoria was the reigning queen during the
nineteenth century, with her husband and several children. This showed femininity,
which centered around family and homely feels. She was described as the mother of
the nation. She became the model of marital stability, with her husband Albert. Their
marriage was said to represent marital harmony. Literature was somewhat related to
the political history of the family feel.
Literature during the Victorian Era had a variety of writing types. People in the
Victorian Era read and/or wrote things; such as novels, children s literature, poetry,
drama, and supernatural and fantastic literature. The

criminal acts more likely to be committed by citizens of lower social class in
society, such as those which inflict direct harm on the person or property of others.
This is in contrast to white collar crime, which is generally committed by citizens
of higher social class, who are more likely to be presented with the opportunity to
commit such crimes. (Blue Collar Crime). Blue collar crimes are more likely to be
of a violent nature and committed by people in a lower economic position.
Although White collar crime can be extremely harmful, it is not generally
physical, or physically damaging and for the most part committed by people of a
higher social status. For the purposes of this paper, blue collar crime as it has been
defined will be the focus. Urban crime is being committed at a higher rate than rural

How Did Dorothea Dix Changed The Lives Of The Mentally
Ill
There s 7 billion (give or take a few) people on this Earth. Every single solitary one
of them is capable of changing the world in a major way, like Dorothea Dix did.
Dorothea Dix was a woman of the mid 1800 s who devoted her life to visiting homes
and hospitals for the mentally ill and fixing them up. She founded countless mental
hospitals, she changed how people thought of and treated the mentally ill, and she got
important political figures to help her with her cause. Dorothea Dixchanged the lives
of the mentally ill for all of time to come.
Dorothea Dix founded numerous hospitals and treatment centers for the mentally
ill. In my research I found on an online resource that, In all she played a major role
in the founding of 32 mental hospitals, 15 schools for the feeble minded, a school
for the blind, and numerous nurse training facilities. This quote shows her effort to
make the lives of the mentally ill better by giving them a safe place to live. This,
however, is not all she did for the mentally ill. ... Show more content on

She did this by being influential to her peers and changing their thoughts on the

an hour on the atrocities she d seen in his own district. The daring move won his
support. (p. 55). This quote shows how with her persuasive attitude and word choice
she could change people s opinions on the mentally ill and rally support. This
government official is not the only one she got to join her campaign for the mentally
Imagery In Elie Wiesel s Night
The Power of Imagery in Night
Imagery is a portrait that is painted in your mind, a portrait that makes you feel you
are there. The Holocaust is full of disturbing and horrible images of death. Pictures
of inhumanity that just make you sick looking at them. In many images you see the
pale, unemotional faces whose lives were changed for eternity, and yet with these
images some believe that the Holocaust did not happen. In the Holocaust there was
mass genocide of over six million Jews. Also many ethnic Poles, gypsies, Soviet
civilians, Soviet prisoners of war, disabled people, homosexual men, and political
and religious opponents were targeted by the Nazis to be exterminated. Hitler s

bodies of the hanging. The two men were no longer alive. Their tongues were
hanging out, swollen and bluish (64). But then there was the revolting scene of the
third rope. It was still moving, the child was not yet dead. He hanged there for
more than half an hour wiggling like a worm, lingering between life and death,
writhing before our eyes (65). When Elie passed him he was still alive and his tongue
was still red, his eyes still open. Elie heard behind him, For God s sake, where is
God? (65). During that night Elie s soup tasted of corpses. Imagine being in a cell
filled with hundreds of people that are sweaty and repulsively smelling. That is
what the barracks is like for Elie. People piled one onto of another all moving and
gasping for air. Some people are even senselessly being trampled and killed. While
in the barracks Elie can hear desperate, familiar cries beneath him, You re crushing
me ...have mercy! (93). It took Elie a minute, but he remembered who the familiar
voice is from, Juliek. He is the boy from Warsaw who plays the violin in the Buna
orchestra. Elie yells out, Juliek, is that you? Eliezer...The twenty five

Time to Expand the Fraud Over time, Minkow moved on to bigger and bigger

Delano Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt [FDR], was a Democrat and the 32nd President of the
United States. The Democrats nominated Franklin Roosevelt as their candidate for
president in 1932 against the incumbent Hoover. Roosevelt was elected in a

He is well known for his temperament, interests, and achievements. Although there
were no wars at the time, his slogan was reinforced by sending the expanded US
Navy and the Great White Fleet on a world tour. TR negotiated an end to the Russo
Japanese War, for which he won the Nobel Peace Prize. Theodore Roosevelts
presidency ended the Gilded Age. (Solheim, Bruce, 21 22) Not only had Roosevelt
alienated big business, he was also attacking both the judiciary and the deep faith
Republicans had in their judges (most of whom had been appointed by McKinley,
Roosevelt or Taft.) In the 1910 Congressional elections, Democrats swept to power,
and Taft s reelection in 1912 was increasingly in doubt. (Blum, John Morton, 252).
When comparing these two presidents, it is vitally important to first of all highlight
that both presidents were without any doubts, great personalities and they by right,
occupy their places on the historical pages of the development of the US. They both
were concerned with the interests of the people and they did their best to help them
go through the difficult times
A Fair And Open Electoral System
For decades, Canadians have been defending their right to have a fair and open
electoral system. Since its creation in 1867, Canada has been proud to call itself a
true democratic country, but today there would be many people who disagree with
this statement. The Canadian electoral system, which uses First Past The Post
(FPTP), has come under scrutiny for not being as fair as it claims to be. Over the
past couple of decades, many countries have switched their system to Proportional
Representation(PR) or some form of it. Based on successful results in other nations,
Canada s current FPTP system should change to Mixed Member Proportional
(MMP), which is a form of Proportional Representation, as it will allow for more fair
elections. The intent of this paper is to outline how an electoral reform from First
Past the Post to Proportional Representation or Mixed Member Proportional, will lead
to more confidence in the government, more accurate seat vote percentage, and better
overall representation of the population.
The first past the post system runs on the idea that whichever party has the most votes
wins. In Canada, the government has split geographical regions into constituencies
which are called ridings. Each riding has a representative from each party that has
chosen to have an individual represent them. When the election date comes, voters
will go to the polling station and cast their vote for whichever individual they want to
represent them. Whichever representative that

1. Introduction
This is the first in a series of articles on using Forth to interact with the real world.
We will explore how to control motors of various types (such as servomotors and
stepper motors), switch power to devices, and sense the environment. Each article
will present a project that can be used to demonstrate the ideas we are going to
discuss.
In this first article, I want to lay the foundation for the future columns and discuss the
use of the PC parallel port to control stepper motors. We will adopt the fantasy that
we are working on some microprocessor based control application and will be using
the PC parallel port as a proxy for the digital I/O channels on our controller. To the
extent possible, the code will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The control is relative, meaning that there is no way to determine the shaft position
directly. You can only command the motor to rotate a certain amount clockwise or
counter clockwise from its current position. These commands consist of energizing
the various motor coils in a particular sequence of patterns. Each pattern causes the
motor to move one step. Smooth motion results from presenting the patterns in the
proper order.
Features that stepper motors provide include:
* Excellent rotational accuracy * Large torque * Small size * Work well over a range
of speeds * Can be used for motion or position control
There are two types of stepper motors:
* Bipolar motors, with two coils. These have four wires on them (see Figure One
a). They are tricky to control because they require changing the direction of the
current flow through the coils in the proper sequence. We will discuss these motors
further when we get to the topic of DC motor control. * Unipolar motors, with two
center tapped coils which can be treated as four coils (see Figure One b). These
have six or eight (or sometimes five) wires, and can be controlled from a
microprocessor with little more than four transistors (see Figure Two).

Sympathy verses Judgment in Carol Ann Duffy s poem Salome
The poem Salome by Carol Ann Duffy is written from the perspective of Salome, a
promiscuous woman who is retelling her drunken night. Although it is unclear
whom Salome is speaking to, she tells her story using informal, colloquial
language, as if conversing to a group of friends. Duffy uses Biblical allusions,
which suggest that the speaker can be considered a reflection of the Biblical
character Salome, who appears in the New Testament and is infamous for
demanding the head of John the Baptist. Although Duffy seems to be retelling the
traditional story of Salome, she depicts Salome as a modern figure. The following
analysis will explore the Biblical allusions in Duffy s poem, which help to determine
what the poem is about, and moreover will explore how Duffy uses the dramatic
monologue to provoke the reader to have sympathy for Salome. I thus contend that
Duffy takes the reader into the mind of Salome, a character that has traditionally been
portrayed as an evil, amoral woman, in order for the reader to view her from a
perspective of sympathy rather than judgment.
As stated, rather than depicting Salome as a completely wicked and cynical character,
Duffy provides indications that the reader is meant to sympathize with her. This is
hinted at in the language that Duffy uses and the different tones in each stanza,
proposing that Salome s thoughts are changing

is not easy either but as long we trust in God to help us we can get through this. Also
how important it is to disciple through evangelism. Then Jesuscame to them and said,
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded
you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
BIBICAL UNDERSTANDING
After Jesus resurrected, authority was entrusted to me came to realization. He is
not waiting passively in heaven for His glorious arrival as king but already He is
exercising His lordship. The literal translation is a command: You disciple. The word
disciple translates as to become a learner. Matthew uses the aorist active imperative
tense. This simply means an action that is absolutely required and occurring without
end. It is surrounded by three participles Go, Baptize, and Teach. The first participle
going traveling is one of attendant circumstance. It is used to communicate an action
that is equally as important as the word Disciple. Therefore in Matthew s mind, Go is
understood as not only a nonnegotiable

The chairperson should bring the meeting back to order. The chairperson can even
opt to writing the ideas on a board and they can be brought out for discussion later on
if time persists.
Why is a chairperson necessary?
The chairperson ensure the meeting time is well spent and not wasted. They bring the
conversation back to the agenda if participants begin to digress from the topics of
discussion.
Who should chair meetings? Why?
The role of chair should rotate with each meeting. This allows those to gain
experience communicating with colleagues and staff.
How long should each meeting last? Why?
The meeting should only last as long as necessary in order to achieve its purpose.
How can active participation in meetings be encouraged?
Acknowledge the participants when ideas are spoken. Thank them for their input.
Allow participants to put something on the agenda either before the meeting or for
the next.
Why are minutes necessary?
Minutes are necessary for the organizations records. They allow those who did not
participate to know where the organization is at with decisions. This is the same for
stake holders and shareholders.
Prevents any misunderstanding if who is responsible for any changes. They can also
enable people to look back on actionable items and give a starting point for the

All Quiet On The Western Front Guilt Quotes
Guilt plays an interesting role in Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front, as it
is only truly found in a handful of scenes, and each one of them seems to line up
rather nicely with Freud s definition of guilt, found in his Civilization and its
Discontents. In All Quiet on the Western Front the character do not often exhibit a
sense of guilt or remorse for what they do, they just do it but there are a few scenes
in which guilt seems evident. Out of those few, guilty scenes, three in particular
seem to stand out the most. Freud defines guilt in two ways, a fear of a loss of love
and a fear of the suger ego, and both of these can be found in Remarque s novelon
several occasions. As said before, three such occasions can be called to mind.... Show

In the boot scene, the sense of guilt given to the main characters is due to not
wanting to upset Kemmerich. They do not want to lose his love so to speak, and
do not outright say You re going to die, your boots are useless just sitting here, let
us have them. Instead they respect his wishes as he is a good friend, and losing
his love on his deathbed is something they cannot bear to the point of letting the
boot issue drop. When Paul visits his mother, this seems to be an example of a
combination of both origins of guilt. He does not want to lose the love of his
mother by telling her the atrocities he s seen and committed himself, and while
back home he realizes that there s a different sense of virtue than on the front lines.
On the front lines, a virtuous soldier would be a loyal one, but back home a
virtuous individual is one who does not shoot other people on a weekly basis. Paul
wants to be a virtuous man, as he was one and wants the respect of his mother, so
he seems extra hard on himself for what he s done on the front lines and really
does not like talking about it even to people who are not his mother. Finally, the
scene in which Paul kills the Frenchman seems to be the ideal example of Freud s
sense of guilt. Paul is the protagonist of the novel, he is meant to be a good individual
Black Market Decriminalization
Over the past two decades, 16 states have de criminalized possession of small
amounts of marijuana, and 22 have legalized it for medical purposes. In November
2012, Colorado and Washington went further, legalizing marijuana for recreational
purposes. No state has decriminalized, medicalized, or legalized cocaine, heroin, or
methamphetamine.
Different drugs carry varying risks. The potential for serious harm from marijuana is
less than for cocaine, heroin, or methamphetamine. Marijuana, for example, appears
incapable of causing a lethal overdose, but cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine
have all been known to kill if taken in excess or under the wrong circumstances (e.g,
with other substances that may enhance their effect or with people who ... Show more

The markets for illegal drugs are opaque, and different approaches to estimating either
the size of this market or the effect of legalization can vary substantially. Further
complicating matters, different approaches make different implicit or explicit
assumptions about exactly what policy change is under consideration, such as
whether legalization applies nationwide, under both federal and state law, or in just
one state, just for marijuana, and just under state law.
In the United States experience, decriminalization arguments are typically employed
as a rhetorical and political tool by advocates attempting to pry open the door to full
legalization. Both decriminalization and legalization of illicit drugs would increase
their use, along with their associated health and social costs. Unless advocates of
decriminalization, or of outright legalization can establish that more drug use is a net
good for society, both arguments are
Significance Of The Back And The Future Trilogy
The Significance of the Back to the Future Trilogy
Earlier this month, actor Michael J. Fox tweeted Only off by a year, not bad.
Congrats @Cubs. This is so heavy. (@realmikefox) His tweet was a reference to a
prediction made in the 1989 film, Back to the Future Part II, in which Fox starred
as the lead character of Marty. Even though the film was released twenty seven
years ago, and its predecessor was released four years prior to that, the tweet itself
garnered over eighteen thousand Twitter likes, showcasing that series relevance alive
in today s society.
The Back to the Future trilogy has made its way into the hearts of millions; still
being loved now just as much as when it was first released. The film trilogy,
produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Robert Zemeckis, stars Michael J. Fox
and Christopher Lloyd as the lead characters. Supporting actors include Lea
Thompson, Thomas F. Wilson, and Crispen Glover. The storyline follows Marty
McFly (Fox) as he travels through time in a Delorean that has been manipulated by
his best friend, the kooky scientist, Doc Brown (Lloyd). Throughout three films,
Marty attempts to re align history and make it back to 1985 unharmed. The series
was a success at the box office, making almost one billion dollars worldwide
between all three films (Thompson, 667). In addition to the success it had when it
was first released, Back to the Future is still relatable to audiences today, many of
which were born long after the decades
Robert Frost Persuasive Essay
Winters are a constant season that hits North America and there s always a decision
that hunters have to make when the season comes around and that decision will
determine rather or not they suffer from hypothermia or even survive another day.
The snow has hit the ground and you are out there in the woods and the evening

Make sure to pack this when you go out hunting. All you will need is a 7 or 8 foot
square tarp, but make sure that is made with nylon or clear plastic Visqueen, which
can be found at the hardware stores. If you find yourself in the winter weather and
without a tarp, seek shelter in nature. For example, you can cut down some pine
boughs to strengthen some shelter for yourself. Matter of fact if you can find a
branched spruce tree, this is best. The last option is to find a gutted carcass of a
moose or elk and crawl inside, this helped one hunter to survive the harsh winter
while hunting.
3. Fire
After you have found some sort of shelter, the next thing to do is to construct a fire
to help you survive a cold winter night. The main reason for the fire is warmth, it
allows your wet clothes to dry and to also assist in signaling for search and rescue
teams. Fire also helps to unravel the nerves of being in the woods while you hunt,
your confidence also will be built up a bit as well.
So how are you going to light this fire?
Matches are a good choice for starting a fire with dry tinder, but that s mainly for
moderate weather, not the best choice for harsh winter hunting. There were hunters
who died while in the Absarokas had matches. The searchers who located their
bodies also found areas where they tried to start fires but

European Imperialism In Things Fall Apart
The colonization of Africa by European explorers is to this day one of the most
controversial topics still debated. Chinua Achebe s novel entitled Things Fall Apart
takes readers through the life of a man named Okonkwo. Masculine and tough,
Okonkwo lives his life as any other man in Nigeria; Three wives, a yam farm and a
tightly knit belief in religion and family values. In Nigeria, having more wives and
more yams results in a higher status and that is very near and dear to Okonkwo. 1958
was a time when the countries of Africa began to revolt against their white
predecessors, riots and movements lead to violence and even death. To show the
effect of colonization specifically of white europeans colonizing Nigeria, Achebe

Why Is Leonardo Da Vinci Considered A True Renaissance
Man
He was a genius. Leonardo Da Vinci, who was born in Vinci on April 15, 1452, was
so brilliant, he stood out in a sea of other talented scholars. As a young man, he
trained to become a world renowned painter. Constantly pursuing knowledge, his
determination made him an excellent scientist. Combining his strengths in arts and
sciences naturally birthed in him a prolific inventor. Leonardo was a true Renaissance
man.
Although he was an incredibly proficient at many things, Leonardo is most
remembered for being a famous painter. At fourteen years old, he traveled to Florence
to apprentice under Verrocchio, who was an elite artist, to study many mediums of
art. Verrocchio quickly noticed his young apprentice s talent. After thirteen years
Qin Shi Huang Di As A Great Leader
Qin Shi Huang Di is remembered as one of the greatest rulers in Chinese s history,
he has benefited China by many of his creations, but some see him as the emperor
who killed millions and burned knowledgable books. Although, he only ruled for
15 years, he successfully united China after centuries of civil war and built an
empire that has lasted to this very day, he is known as both a brutal tyrant and a
great leader. He created a unified system of weights and measures, writing and
currency, but used violence to take control of China which eventually killed many
scholars and burnt books to wipe out heresy and brutality which was the basis of his
greatest achievements. He started many major structures such as the early structure

Imposing a universal written language allowed for better communication, orders and
implementation of policies. It was such a great concept which has boosted China s
market to where it is today.
Qin Shi Huang had many faults and unattractive features during his reign, he
punished those who opposed him and destroyed much knowledgable literature.
One of his most well known traits is harshness. He ruled by force and violence
maintaining strict order over his kingdom, and valued obedience above all. As the
first ruler to have united the Warring States, and subsequently impose a central
government with astonishing alacrity, this trait may seem expected in some ways.
Hou and Lu, Scholars of the Qin court in 221BC highlighted the emperor s wrong
doings by saying The emperor, never hearing his faults condemned, is growing
prouder and prouder while those below cringe in fear and try to please him with
flattery and lies. This tell us tat man were afraid to even think about disobeying
him, let alone suggesting an idea, many just did as they were told without going
their opinion. Qin Shi Huang was a a barbaric ruler, millions died through slavery
or face brutal punishments if they disobeyed any of his rules or orders. He did
indeed invent and build many projects but it was all at the expense of thousands of
lives.Qin Shi Huang is most frequently faulted for the Burning of the Books and
burying of scholars. The treasured literature of
Kantian Consequentialism Essay
For Silber, Kantian consequentialism is benign because it does not concern the actual
consequence of an action but rather the willed consequences. When agents act as the
result of an imaginary law, expected or intended consequences of an act result. As
we have seen Silber argues that the nature of Kantian consequentialism is subjunctive
consequentialism as the inhabitants of consequences of an act all acted on maxims
which were analyzed according to the subjunctive consequences of the action as
spelled out in this sentence. As Silber s simpler but less precise formulation the
moral man considers what other men would have to do if his maxim were a
universal law (Silber 213).
However, how do agents following subjectively casual laws achieve objective self
reference? To answer this, Silber points out that Kant s proceduralism presupposes a
moral context no rational egoists exists in the ... Show more content on

Kantian consequentialism or specifically subjunctive consequentialism still seems
unable to inform a permissible or impermissible maxim. If the subjunctive
consequences possess no moral weight, Kant will be no better off than a Utilitarian
who contends that Kant s ethics is completely formal. Utilitarianism straightforwardly
holds that the consequences of an act compromise the moral weight in the procedure,
as, for example, when an agent prefers satisfaction or happiness. However, why is
happiness held as the means by which one justifies consequences or maximized good,
rather than suffering? Utilitarianism does not pretend to give a purely formal answer.
Likewise, Kant must assign some moral content to subjunctive consequences. While
much detail may exist in these consequences through the typic (the nature of law)
and while all possibilities of the kingdom of ends might be specified and imagined,
the permissibility of maxims is still
Kintoscope Research Paper
What did you do this morning? Turn on the lights in your living room? Watched the
morning news? Listen to your music on the way to school? These trivial activities
were once non existent and were brought into being by one man Thomas Alva
Edison. His inventions the kinetoscope (used to watch a series of photographs),
phonograph (sound recorder), and electric light bulb paved the way for today s
lifestyle. The kinetoscope was the beginning of modern television, although it did
not contain sound, it showed what was to come. The kinetoscope was a simple
camera the was designed to take a series of photographs that, when watched quickly,
made the people in the photos seem to move. His first filmusing the kinetograph, Fred
Ott s Sneeze, was a short film portraying a man sneezing (Everyday Life: Inventions
66). The kinetoscope led people pursuing ways to entertain themselves, which made
the motion picture industry possible. This invention helped to develop and improve
today s lifestyle through the development of the motion picture industry. The
phonograph gave sound to Edison s earlier invention, the kinetoscope. The
phonograph was a hand cranked machine that played back sounds by reading the
music with the aid of a needle. These sounds were then heard through the large horn

The inventions that followed the electric light bulb have made living conditions more

Hello America Chin Ke Quotes
Have you ever heard of a character in a book that is so obnoxious that he barges

read the awful book, American Born Chinese. In my opinion, the character Chin
Kee is a bad addition to the book, who is Chin Kee you ask? Only one of the worst
characters in all of history! The point of this essay is to inform you why Chin Kee is
a terrible character. Now, who is this character?
Chin Kee is a kind of immigrant/traveller, he comes to America to go to school each
year with his cousin Danny, he is originally from China, apparently, Danny is related
to Chin Kee, but we don t discover how (or maybe how not) until the end of the
book. Anyways, Chin Kee arrives in America and meets with Danny, this is when he

Well aside from their both being Chinese, Chin Kee is obviously more flawed than
Jin, he is obnoxious and can be very annoying at times. There are even more
passages from the text, like (Teacher) Oh Romeo, oh Romeo. (Chin Kee)
Wherefore art thou Romeo? This is from the chapter where Chin Kee constantly
annoys Danny by answering all of the questions the teacher asks, this is also a
racist Asian stereotype, as in they are so smart that they get all the questions right.
Another example is (Teacher) The Nina, the Pinta and the? (Chin Kee) Santa
Malia! . Chin kee is an overall racist stereotype of an Asian person. I m not sure
why they would include the racist stereotype, other to make Chin Kee appear more
annoying, disturbing and obnoxious. Unlike Jin, Chin Kee is annoying, although
Jin is much easier to anger and has a short temper, while Chin Kee takes a while to
anger and gives sufficient warning, as read in the final chapters. So, both characters
have their differences, and in the end Jin caves in to his anger and learns that he
shouldn t just try to be someone else, but instead to be
Genetically And Genetically Modified Food
Genetically modified organisms have been a contentious topic for the last several
years. Decried as being chemically dangerous to the human body, potentially ruinous
of worldwide agriculture, and harmful to the environment, GMOs have a rather
contemptible reputation. Despite these denunciations, it is undeniable that both
willful ignorance and outright misinformation have played a part in the public s
conception of genetically modified food. GMOs have undoubtedly been the victim of
character assassination and it is of utmost importance that they are given a factually
sound assessment rather than one based around fear mongering. The truth is that
genetically engineered organisms are as harmless for the body and environment as
any average, traditionally produced food product.
To best understand GMOs, it is important to elucidate their history. Despite being
thought of as a recent blight on the food landscape, GMOs have a historical root that
ties back to the beginning of time. That said, GMOs must first be defined. They are
any organism who s DNA has been genetically manipulated to either express or
eliminate certain traits. Although commonly thought of as solely being descriptive of
produce, genetic modification can be used on any plant. Additionally, there has been
recent progress made on genetically modifying animals and even humans. Although
not specifically terminologized as GMOs , farmers have been using primitive genetic
engineering since the dawn of agriculture. For

Autumn Epilogue Epilogue The trail in the woods that Roxas and Xion took every morning was peaceful and quiet, with the exception of songbirds chirping in the trees, and the delightful crunch of dried leaves under their shoes. Leaves of the surrounding trees were starting to turn into different shades of red, yellow and brown; a sign of an early autumn. Xion Zayas adjusted the scarf she was wearing, making sure to cover up her neck as much as possible; she could feel the autumn breeze nipping at her skin. All we need to do now is wait for the marriage~ The ravenette grinned, happy to know her brother had also found his true love. Then comes a baby in the baby carriage. Roxas chuckled at the mental image of a confused Axel changing baby diapers, but he knew the red haired man would be a great dad. The couple continued their walk to town in a comfortable silence before Roxas requested, Hey, Xion. Can you write me another song? Xion gave her boyfriend a puzzled look. Oh? Why all of a sudden? It s nothing. I guess I just miss you singing for me, that s all. The blond grinned when he noticed the girl s cheeks flushed pink. Well~ Xion uttered before releasing her hand from his. Information Technology Department s Plan Essay Given that a major goal of the [HISD] Information Technology Department s plan is to ensure that technology strategies and operations support the overall learning process (HISD, 2012), the hardware and software to be installed and implemented in the district s standardized computer lab will serve as a reflection of this goal. The standardized computerlab will support multiple computing clients, including thin client Chromebooks, a tablet computer cart, and a student workstation with desktop computers. In their 2016 Standards for Students, the International Society for Technology in Educationoutlines six domains in which students should demonstrate proficiency so that they can be prepared to thrive in a constantly evolving technological landscape (ISTE, 2016). Included in these domains is that of the Creative Communicator, in which students choose the appropriate platforms and tools for meeting the desired objectives of their creation or communication (ISTE, 2016). The connotation is how something is photographed, while the denotation is what is photographed. What is important in this scenario is that the essence of the picture is manipulated by one or more of these external factors. It may be argued that the art of photography itself is not organic, but merely the careful manipulation of external elements, constructed by the artist. However, Barthes does not consider photography as an analogue, a puerile denoted message, yet ironically that is how most people instinctively see. Objects photographed (denoted) for non artistic pictures such as documentaries are perceived by the viewer as portraying characteristics of the truth, rather than being used as stylistic mediums. • 7. 90 Hairstyles Elizabeth Brooks 01/04/15 Hairstyles of the 90 s In 1990 I was 13 years old. I remember that my hairstyle was as important as what I wore everyday. I wore my hair up, all down, and in a half ponytail. When I wore it all down, I would crimp it with a crimping tool or flat iron it with really big bangs, using a lot of hairspray. When I wore it up, I would use a big, colorful, flashy scrunchie to put my hair into a ponytail. The ponytail would always be at the very top of my head and very big. Punk rock bands were mostly famous for Mullets, along with many country singers, such as, Billy Ray Cyrus, Travis Tritt, and Joe Defoe. Sanjay Dutt, a Bollywood actor also had a Mullet haircut during the 1990 s. The Afro hairstyle comes to mind when I think of hair in the 90 s too. People with lengthy and kinky hair texture maintained a fashion with the Afro hairstyle. The hairs are extended out from the scalp and are made in a round shape like that of a ball or a cloud. Creams, gels and other liquids were used to give the shape to this Afro style of hair. Popular in the 60 s, the Afro hairstyle came back in the 90 s again, but with various braids, twists and sizes. NBA players, Kobe Bryant, Michael Beasley along with several musicians Ludacris, Wiz Khalifa, Beyonce had the Afro style of hair in the 90 s. Next I will talk about the Frosted Tip hairstyle. • 10. Psychoanalytic Criticism In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Throughout history, the release of literary pieces have contributed drastic changes to humans and storytelling. While dissecting a literary piece, finding a familiar face, line, or plot isn t uncommon. As people are easily influenced, so are the creation of stories. The novel Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley as a whole, observed carefully, presents an intriguing analysis, rooting from stories such as Genesis and Prometheus; revolving around themes of love, knowledge, and. Additionally, when the text is taken into consideration concerning Psychoanalytic criticism, Frankenstein s creation reveals a deeper source of purpose on his actions, even tracing back to the days his existence began. To begin, certain aspects of Psychoanalytic criticism presents itself throughout the entire story, allowing the reader to analyze the causation of the actions Frankenstein s creation executes. The monster s actions are caused by the lack of experience of the imaginary order, a process those with parents experience and eventually slip out of as time passes. Lacanian theory holds that we all suffer from lack because nothing can ever satisfy the desire one holds to return to what he terms the imaginary order represented by the mother (Brackett). In Frankenstein s situation he is denied this order due to the lack of companionship and love. His first moments of life distanced immensely from perfection as the creation states, I was poor, helpless, miserable wretch; I knew, and could distinguish, nothing; but feeling pain invade me on all sides, I sat down and wept (Shelley 91). The first moments of the creatures life encompassed fear, abandonment, and a deficiency of a sense of togetherness. When the creation exists in absence of this experience, s[he] is doubly cursed with the inability to return to an order s[he] never experienced , leading him to recognize how utterly abandoned and alone he was (Brackett). Frankenstein emphasizes this isolation to Victor when he states, Satan had his companions, fellow devils, to admire and encourage him; but I am solitary and abhorred (Shelley 118). This imaginary order which remains as an unexposed factor in Frankenstein s creations life begets the creature to metamorphose from

The higher the cost of attending college and obtaining a degree goes, the more pertinent this question becomes to society. The type of job a person is planning on obtaining after he completes his college education greatly impacts the value of his degree. Acquiring a well paying job after leaving college is the only way for a college graduate to effectively pay off his student loans. Before someone can earn a degree and enter into the workforce, they must do well and complete all of their years in college. If a student goes through college for one year or two and then drops out and enters the workforce, he has wasted his time and

To write an analytical product every four years is problematic when intelligence is fleeting and importance is constantly shifting. In the beginning of the scene, Lady Macbeth does her duties by making the surfeited grooms (II. i. 5) incapable of doing anything productive, thus making it easy for Macbeth to slip in and kill the king. As the scene progresses, the concept of intoxication continues as the Porter discusses the three things of liquor affects are marry, sleep, and urine (II. iii. 22). Lamar, uncoincidentally, mentioned three things as to the reason pick up the bottle is to fit in (Swimming Pools), to drown [one s] sorrows (Swimming Pools), and the some people may just like the feeling (Swimming Pools). The drink symbolizes an aphrodisiac as well but limits the man s performance (II. iii. 26). Porter and Lamar then come together to discuss the feeling of lechery (II. iii. 22) as [provoking] the desires (II. iii. 23) and seeing the love in her eyes (Swimming pools) but ultimately disheartens him (II.iii. 26). The placement of this spiel by The Porter is a comical relief in a tense time because the King has just been killed and Macbeth is about to regret his murder. The idea of liquor that Porter and Lamar paint are similar in a way that liquor has an effect on the human senses, whether that be a good or bad thing is up to the drinker. Act 3:

The nurse patient relationship (NPR) is considered the foundation of nursing care, the context in which nurses practice. The NPR is an interpersonal process that develops over time between patients and nurses (Hagerty; Patusky, 2003). This conceptualization is grounded in the work of Peplau (1952) and was subsequently expanded in the works of interactional nurse theorists such as King (1981), Paterson and Zderad (1988), and Travelbee (1971). Over the years that I have been qualified in my home country, I worked in various units and departments to which I strongly felt that the skills, knowledge and more importantly the competence I gained were enough to widen my horizon, shoot for the stars and try my luck elsewhere where there is shortage of health care professionals. For example, through the use of sound effects in her music, Halsey makes the songs come to life in a way that completely immerses the reader in her world. • 23. Summary Of The Tale Of Genji Jordan Adams 11/25/14 World Civilization I MacKinnon Text Analysis The Tale of Genji In early eleventh century Japan, circa the year 1021, noblewoman and lady in waiting Murasaki Shikibu published The Tale of Genji, widely renowned as the world s first novel. The work is set in Shikibu s contemporary Heian period of Japan, in which political and social ranks dictated society s functioning and heavy prejudices were placed on those deemed unsuitable for the affairs of public court life. Women fell under this umbrella of outsiders, meant to live primarily behind screens and closed doors only to be seen by their father and husband. It is believed that Shikibu wrote such a tale of forbidden romance and whimsical court affairs to bring life to her fellow women who shared in such a limited existence. This single piece of literature manages to wholly represent the Heian age of Japanese history, embodying the period s culture and seamlessly incorporating a broad spectrum of themes of civilization. The Tale of Genjirevolves around the illegitimate son of Japan s emperor and his favorite concubine Kiritsubo. Kiritsubo is easily influenced by the critics and judgments of the court, falls ill, and dies of jealously. With her having no concrete political standing, the emperor removes their son from court and assigns him to the commoner Genji clan (thus giving the boy his name) and names Suzaku, the son he had with Lady Kokiden as the royal prince. A savings plan for an immediate want is apparently different than a savings strategy for retirement. One may choose to select stocks, bonds, or mutual funds for a savings strategy, however, my personal choice is to invest in bonds first, then mutual funds. My savings strategy selection process for an immediate want includes taking a portion of my income and storing it in a money market bank account to cover the expenses, since the interest rate changes daily for money market accounts. In return for that money, the issuer provides you with a bond in which it promises to pay a certain rate of interest during the life of the bond, and to repay the face value of the bond (the principle) at its maturity date. Among the types of bonds available for investment are: U.S. government securities, municipal bonds, corporate bonds, mortgage and asset backed securities, federal agency securities and foreign government bonds. Zero interest or coupon municipal bonds are my number one choice because these bonds can be purchased for a small amount, then at its maturity date, or earlier call date these bonds usually pay the face value. Now to me, this is a smart investment choice especially for retirement. A mutual fund is nothing more than a collection of stocks and/or bonds. One can think of a mutual fund as a company that brings together a group of people and invests their money in stocks, bonds, and other securities. Each investor owns shares, which represent a portion of the holdings of the fund. By nature I am not a gambler, so when investing my money, I want less risks as possible. So let it be known that bonds and mutual funds are safer and have less risk than stocks. This does not mean that some stocks are not good sound investment choices. The idea behind diversification is to invest in a large number of assets so that a loss in any particular investment is minimized by gains

There are many causes and effects due to the amount of stress collegestudents go through daily. I know this because I ve been a college studentfor about 3 months and experience stress almost every day. Three main causes why college students experience stress is because of academic stressors, social stressors, and daily hassles. Which leads to dropouts, weight issues, and unhealthy habits. The first type of stress that college students experience is academically. The workload is significantly more than the high school workload which means there s less hand holding during this time period from both teachers and parents. Throughout high school you re giving do overs however in college do overs don t exist. With challenging classes, scheduling issues to coordinate, difficult tests and other academic obstacles, coupled with the most independent nature of the college learning structure, many new and returning students find themselves studying long, hard hours. The next type of stress college students encounter is social stress. Freshmen face the most obvious social challenges because there leaving both there family and friends behind which is their support system, in most cases if they don t commute back and forth to school. Trying to create a new social network for the first time away from home and their parents most students face social stress. Living with a roommate, balancing friends with school work, often part time jobs, dealing with the dynamics of adult relationships can all be so difficult to weigh and lead to significant stress. Lastly, college students feel stress when dealing with daily hassles. Many students keep crazy hours from staying up late to study, getting up early for classes, and trying to cram in all the work and fun that can possibly fit. These are all things that students possibly deal with daily that could cause stress even if its the littlest situation. For example, missing the bus you needed to aboard in order to get to

The Democrats nominated Franklin Roosevelt as their candidate for president in 1932 against the incumbent Hoover. (Solheim, Bruce, 21 22) Not only had Roosevelt alienated big business, he was also attacking both the judiciary and the deep faith Republicans had in their judges (most of whom had been appointed by McKinley, Roosevelt or Taft.) In the 1910 Congressional elections, Democrats swept to power, and Taft s reelection in 1912 was increasingly in doubt. (Blum, John Morton, 252). When comparing these two presidents, it is vitally important to first of all highlight that both presidents were without any doubts, great personalities and they by right, occupy their places on the historical pages of the development of the US. They both were concerned with the interests of the people and they did their best to help them go through the difficult times

Since its creation in 1867, Canada has been proud to call itself a true democratic country, but today there would be many people who disagree with this statement. The Canadian electoral system, which uses First Past The Post (FPTP), has come under scrutiny for not being as fair as it claims to be. Over the past couple of decades, many countries have switched their system to Proportional Representation(PR) or some form of it. Based on successful results in other nations, Canada s current FPTP system should change to Mixed Member Proportional (MMP), which is a form of Proportional Representation, as it will allow for more fair elections. The intent of this paper is to outline how an electoral reform from First Past the Post to Proportional Representation or Mixed Member Proportional, will lead to more confidence in the government, more accurate seat vote percentage, and better overall representation of the population. The first past the post system runs on the idea that whichever party has the most votes wins. In Canada, the government has split geographical regions into constituencies which are called ridings. Each riding has a representative from each party that has chosen to have an individual represent them. When the election date comes, voters will go to the polling station and cast their vote for whichever individual they want to represent them. Whichever representative that

In this first article, I want to lay the foundation for the future columns and discuss the use of the PC parallel port to control stepper motors. You can only command the motor to rotate a certain amount clockwise or counter clockwise from its current position. These commands consist of energizing the various motor coils in a particular sequence of patterns. Each pattern causes the motor to move one step. Smooth motion results from presenting the patterns in the proper order. Features that stepper motors provide include: * Excellent rotational accuracy * Large torque * Small size * Work well over a range of speeds * Can be used for motion or position control There are two types of stepper motors: * Bipolar motors, with two coils. These have four wires on them (see Figure One a). They are tricky to control because they require changing the direction of the current flow through the coils in the proper sequence. We will discuss these motors further when we get to the topic of DC motor control. * Unipolar motors, with two center tapped coils which can be treated as four coils (see Figure One b). These have six or eight (or sometimes five) wires, and can be controlled from a microprocessor with little more than four transistors (see Figure Two). Figure One. • 38. Carol Ann Duffy Allusions Katelyn Nowocin Dr. Plamondon ENGL 3487 7 November 2017 Sympathy verses Judgment in Carol Ann Duffy s poem Salome The poem Salome by Carol Ann Duffy is written from the perspective of Salome, a promiscuous woman who is retelling her drunken night. Although it is unclear whom Salome is speaking to, she tells her story using informal, colloquial language, as if conversing to a group of friends. Duffy uses Biblical allusions, which suggest that the speaker can be considered a reflection of the Biblical character Salome, who appears in the New Testament and is infamous for demanding the head of John the Baptist. Although Duffy seems to be retelling the traditional story of Salome, she depicts Salome as a modern figure. The following analysis will explore the Biblical allusions in Duffy s poem, which help to determine what the poem is about, and moreover will explore how Duffy uses the dramatic monologue to provoke the reader to have sympathy for Salome. I thus contend that Duffy takes the reader into the mind of Salome, a character that has traditionally been portrayed as an evil, amoral woman, in order for the reader to view her from a perspective of sympathy rather than judgment. As stated, rather than depicting Salome as a completely wicked and cynical character, Duffy provides indications that the reader is meant to sympathize with her. This is hinted at in the language that Duffy uses and the different tones in each stanza, proposing that Salome s thoughts are changing

He is not waiting passively in heaven for His glorious arrival as king but already He is exercising His lordship. The literal translation is a command: You disciple. The word disciple translates as to become a learner. Matthew uses the aorist active imperative tense. This simply means an action that is absolutely required and occurring without end. All Quiet On The Western Front Guilt Quotes Guilt plays an interesting role in Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front, as it is only truly found in a handful of scenes, and each one of them seems to line up rather nicely with Freud s definition of guilt, found in his Civilization and its Discontents. In All Quiet on the Western Front the character do not often exhibit a sense of guilt or remorse for what they do, they just do it but there are a few scenes in which guilt seems evident. Out of those few, guilty scenes, three in particular seem to stand out the most. Freud defines guilt in two ways, a fear of a loss of love and a fear of the suger ego, and both of these can be found in Remarque s novelon several occasions. As said before, three such occasions can be called to mind.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the boot scene, the sense of guilt given to the main characters is due to not wanting to upset Kemmerich. They do not want to lose his love so to speak, and do not outright say You re going to die, your boots are useless just sitting here, let us have them. Instead they respect his wishes as he is a good friend, and losing his love on his deathbed is something they cannot bear to the point of letting the boot issue drop. When Paul visits his mother, this seems to be an example of a combination of both origins of guilt. He does not want to lose the love of his mother by telling her the atrocities he s seen and committed himself, and while back home he realizes that there s a different sense of virtue than on the front lines. On the front lines, a virtuous soldier would be a loyal one, but back home a virtuous individual is one who does not shoot other people on a weekly basis. Paul wants to be a virtuous man, as he was one and wants the respect of his mother, so he seems extra hard on himself for what he s done on the front lines and really does not like talking about it even to people who are not his mother. Finally, the scene in which Paul kills the Frenchman seems to be the ideal example of Freud s sense of guilt. Paul is the protagonist of the novel, he is meant to be a good individual

In the United States experience, decriminalization arguments are typically employed as a rhetorical and political tool by advocates attempting to pry open the door to full legalization. However, why is happiness held as the means by which one justifies consequences or maximized good, rather than suffering? Utilitarianism does not pretend to give a purely formal answer.
